Journey: How Long it Is and How Many Chapters There Are

Image of Alex Neeler

Journey is a game of whimsicality and beauty, but its also very much one where you get out of it what you’re willing to put in. The actual length can widely vary depending on a lot of factors. The game itself has eight chapters, each of which take very different amounts of time to complete.

In a standard playthrough with an average amount of exploration, Journey can be completed in about two hours or so. But although it can seem like a short game, players will often find themselves engulfed in the world and fueled by a desire to explore their surroundings. If you end up being one of these players, then a single run through the game can easily end up taking anywhere from three to five hours.

There are also many collectibles to discover which can certainly eat up a lot more time for those aiming to grab everything in order to acquire every trophy or unlock the special White Robe costume. Chapter Select does provide a fantastic way to easily run around and collect everything, but be warned as beating the full serenity-inducing game once just may not be enough and you may end up wanting embark on the journey again. The scarf upgrades you can obtain can also make the game much quicker as well as your character tends to move faster while in the air.

If your just looking to run through the game as quickly as possible, Journey can be beaten in as short as an hour. Though barreling through the story without stopping to enjoy some of the majesty and charm would be an incredible shame. Like we said, you’ll get out of Journey what you’re willing to put into it and as such it may take you about an hour or you may be dazzled into taking the journey over and over and over again.

Basic gameplay [ ]

Please consider reading Basics Guides , if you are having your First Journey or just started to play the game. Those give hints and links to other helpful articles.

PC versions [ ]

  • it is recommended to start the game via the launcher (see Talk:PC Version FAQ )! For some people, it seemed they couldn't connect when not using the launcher.
  • Consider using a controller; if you are on keyboard or mouse, you might want to check "Controls" below or the in-game settings to see which buttons have a function.
  • Sand settings on low or medium look more grainy. Some people say its better than having it on high setting.
  • Medium settings is the equivalent to PS3, High = PS4, Ultra is PC exclusive and Low corresponds to Vita according to Flower but not the case here.
  • For reference: FXAA, Vsync, Cloth interpolation all enabled and MSAA 2x is the closest equivalent to PlayStation and iOS versions on PC

Common hints [ ]

Journey is rather self-explanatory. In the first level you cannot meet a companion , so there is time to try out the controls and chirp at flyers , those little cloth pieces that fly around certain places.

The first level ends after a vision and walking through a corridor.

The Broken Bridge (BB) level is the second tutorial-like level and the first place where it's possible to encounter a companion. The Banners and Flyers will recharge your scarf. Try different Chirps/chiming/singing at the Flyers!

Wildlife - Banner (Broken Bridge)

Cloth, in this case two Banners.

are like energy for you. On contact or upon approaching them, they will recharge your scarf and behave in many different ways.

Chirp

A Chirp bubble.

The chirp [ ]

Chirp is your friend. It is a tool used to interact with the environment and activate things in the game.

Read more about different Chirps, about the Symbol it shows and some trivia in the article above.

Longest RR scarf

A very long Scarf, gained through collecting Symbols .

Your scarf [ ]

See article: Scarf

Your Companion's loud Chirps will also charge your Scarf, if the sound bubble hits you (applicable up to a certain distance).

Your scarf is comparable to the health or stamina bar in other games. Keep a constant eye on your and your Companion's scarf and do big chirps at your companion if you notice their scarf is emptying/empty. This is especially important when trying to fly together.

Try to keep your scarf charged via mid-flight chirps at flyers, hitting banners, etc.

Controls [ ]

Journey is naturally intended to be played with a controller , since it came out first on a console.

The table below shows the standard settings for each device.

Play the PC version of Journey with:

  • PS4, XBOX and Logitech and third party XInput controllers
  • DualShock 4 natively and emulated
  • Keyboard and mouse
  • Keyboard only
  • Mouse only (not recommended as it is very challenging)

Warning: the game might crash, if the RT button is used with a controller through the in-game options (Dualshock is not affected)

Camera movements with a controller are naturally slower than turning around with the mouse. If you are having difficulties controlling your flight , you might want to try reducing your mouse sensitivity.

iOS touch controls are mostly self-explanatory (no dedicated sitting button)

  • Movement can be on left or right side, default is left
  • Jump, chirp and camera movement can not be pressed together and are on the side opposite to movement.
  • Top-left button is Menu/Pause.
  • For more Information about the iOS version see here: IOS Version FAQ .

Alternatively, you can connect a controller to your Apple iDevice. See: How to connect a controller to your iPhone or iPad.

The standard settings for iOS version are the same as PlayStation/PC and depend on the connected MFI controller

Default control binds, PS3/4, PC (DS4, XBOX) [ ]

To invert camera and/or controls [ ].

PlayStation: Press Start/Touchpad, options, then press select. You have to press it several times to circle through the options (only camera inverted, only control, both).

PC version: Enter the menu -> Options -> Controls. There are settings for camera: OFF (standard), X, Y and X+Y (both inverted).

Options and start buttons do more than you think [ ]

Select / Share / Enter will make you sit down and meditate . Also used to communicate and for tricks. Since it doesn't start the screensaver, it could be considered the "faster" sitting.

Start / Touchpad / Options / P will start the screensaver, moving right (camera) stick or pressing start again will bring you back to normal view. It's also a forced sitting and used for tricks. To begin experiments with pause button, try using the screensaver-sitting in the slide level.

Remapping for PS or PC [ ]

You can customise your buttons with

  • In-game options or an external program on PC
  • Accessibility Settings on PlayStation 4

See Hints for the regularly travelling Wayfarer: Remapping controller .

Remapping can help to accomplish certain tricks easier (see Tips for the long-term traveler , Zen jump , Faceplant Jump (FPJ) ).

Playing offline [ ]

PC version: Playing offline without turning all network traffic off

PlayStation: How to go offline

Destiny's decade-long saga is over after world's first raid team takes 19 hours to down the final boss, unlocking a wild 12-person climax for everyone to play

Bungie also announced it will broadcast a surprise showcase on Monday to detail the future of the game.

Excision

I'm so tired. Partly because I stayed up until 4 AM watching teams trying and failing to win the Salvation's Edge raid race. But also because, I woke up this morning to find that after a staggering 19 hours the final boss had been defeated, meaning that the curtain has been brought down on a story I've been playing for a decade.

As anticipated, the raid being beaten was the trigger to unlock the final mission of The Final Shape expansion's campaign. The mission is called Excision and is the game's first 12-player activity (aside from a funny glitch a few years back). To launch it, open The Pale Heart destination from the director screen and scroll all the way over to the top right of the map.

Excision

[Minor spoilers follow in images and text]

Excision is a brilliant Return of the King meets Avenger's Endgame-style romp in which the combined forces of the guardians and their allies—which include Caiatl's Cabal empire, the Eliksni of House Light, and even previous series' big bad Savathûn—join forces to storm The Witnesses' fortress and end it once and for all.

I won't spoil it for those yet to dive in, but suffice to say Excision more than pays off the fantasy of fighting alongside an army of guardians, and many of the story's most prominent characters, in a ridiculously over-the-top battle. Unlike the raid, which was brutally hard under 'contest mode' conditions where players must fight with their power far below the recommended encounter level, Excision isn't a skill test so much as a glorious piece of fan service that enables everyone to experience the drop of a narrative beat 10 years in the making.

My heart is mostly black and inert, but I admit I felt a rush of emotion as those final few cut scenes played out, which included a pitch-perfect resolution for the returning Cayde-6's storyline. The game also sets the scene for narratives to come—Savathun isn't going to stay our friend for long, the Scorn's Fikrul remains at large, and light and dark energy is leaking from the Traveller into space which surely isn't going to be without repercussions.

Excision

These threads are teased tastefully, rather than rammed down your throat, although no doubt Bungie is very concerned about keeping as many of us on the hook as possible at what is a natural jumping-off point. But to that end, I think the studio really has done all it can to make the case for more Destiny being a good thing. The Final Shape has been very good.

The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

We'll have a full review next week, but I don't think I'm stepping on any toes here to say that, despite the backdrop of painful layoffs and large delays, Bungie has stuck the landing with The Final Shape in a way that barely seemed possible during the darkest moments of last year. Hell, even Reddit is happy .

Honestly, just the fact that the big climactic battle against The Witness wasn't a letdown after an entire decade of foreshadowing is an incredible thing. A huge shout-out must go to the entire art department for creating such a stunning-looking boss. The first time I saw The Witness—massive, smoky, and with more roaming hands than a '70s comedian—was genuinely breathtaking. Destiny gets memed on a lot as a franchise, sometimes not without justification, but anyone who loves shooters really should put respect on its name. There's still no game remotely like Destiny, and when Bungie really rolls up its sleeves the results are genre-defining.

As you can tell I'm a little excited right now, and community sentiment is as high as I can recall it. Clearly hoping to capitalize on those vibes, after congratulating the raid race winners, Bungie also announced that on Monday it will host a live stream detailing what's to come over the next year in Destiny 2.

It all begins with a single step.Join us on June 10 at 8AM PT to learn about the next year of Destiny 2.🎦 https://t.co/st5fsMFHyA pic.twitter.com/MIx8JQOnJi June 8, 2024

I think a lot of people will assume that might mean a bigger announcement about the game's future, and possibly even hints of a full sequel, but my gut says this will just be a showcase for the forthcoming three episodes, starting with Echoes which launches at reset on Tuesday. We shall see though—I wouldn't rule out some surprises.

Finally, congrats to team Parabellum on their win. Their world's first completion of the Salvation's Edge raid surpassed the 18 hours taken to beat The Last Wish back in 2018. It was a fittingly epic and grueling climax that saw the best players in the game banging their heads against inscrutable puzzles and brutal combat encounters. Or indeed did not see, because many of the top teams chose to obscure crucial info on their screens (eg buffs), some going so far as to go off camera entirely once the race was in the final stretches.

That caused quite a lot of resentment among viewers who wanted to tune in for what felt like the game's equivalent of the Superbowl, with several of the main streams hosting 100k+ viewers and the game easily becoming #1 on Twitch during the race. To that I can only say if you set something up to be competitive, then it's only natural that people are going to want to compete. I'll be diving in tomorrow night once contest mode ends and praying for a much easier ride.

The last word goes to winning team member tyraxe, a 20 year-old Australian who wrote on X : "IM THE FUCKING BEST I PLAYED SO GOOD."

Excision

With over two decades covering videogames, Tim has been there from the beginning. In his case, that meant playing Elite in 'co-op' on a BBC Micro (one player uses the movement keys, the other shoots) until his parents finally caved and bought an Amstrad CPC 6128. These days, when not steering the good ship PC Gamer, Tim spends his time complaining that all Priest mains in Hearthstone are degenerates and raiding in Destiny 2. He's almost certainly doing one of these right now.

Edmonton Oilers headed to Stanley Cup final with 2-1 win over Dallas Stars

Oilers last appeared in the final in 2006, and last raised hockey's holy grail in 1990.

Edmonton Oilers headed to Stanley Cup final

Social sharing.

For the Edmonton Oilers, the journey from worst to first in the Western Conference is complete — and a chance at the Stanley Cup is their reward.

Connor McDavid had a goal and assist in the opening period to get Edmonton going, Stuart Skinner stopped 34 shots for his hometown team and the Oilers capped an improbable run to the Stanley Cup final by beating the Dallas Stars 2-1 on Sunday night in Edmonton.

Zach Hyman also scored — like McDavid, on a first-period power play — and Evan Bouchard had two assists for the Oilers, who won the Western Conference in six games and will play for the Cup for the first time since 2006.

They'll be heading to Florida for Game 1 of the final series that starts Saturday. Games are scheduled to start 8 p.m. ET.

The Panthers are playing in the title series for the third time, after getting swept by Colorado in 1996 and losing to Vegas in five games last year.

ZACH ATTACK 💥 <a href="https://t.co/dWLNCnBnJK">pic.twitter.com/dWLNCnBnJK</a> &mdash; @EdmontonOilers

"When the horn went off, that's the loudest I ever heard it," McDavid told Sportsnet amid the on-ice postgame celebration as Edmonton fans repeatedly chanted, "We want the Cup."

"Special place to play, honestly. So much history. And these fans, it was great to hear their support."

The Stars, just like the Rangers , let a 2-1 lead in the conference finals get away. Dallas scored five goals in Game 3 to take the series lead; the Stars managed four goals, total, in the next three games.

On Sunday, Mason Marchment scored midway through the third period and Jake Oettinger stopped eight shots for the Stars, who finished the regular season with the second-best record in the NHL: 113 points, just one behind the New York Rangers in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.

Oettinger went to the bench with about 2:20 left in the game, but the Stars got only two shots the rest of the way — their desperate tries to tie the game and extend the series coming up short.

A hockey player runs into another hockey player.

"Proud of our group. Proud of our fight. Proud of our battle," Stars coach Peter DeBoer said. "We're just gutted. They did leave everything out there."

Just by getting to the final, Edmonton has done something truly extraordinary — making the title series after finding itself 10 points out of a playoff spot during the regular season.

Entering games on Nov. 24, the Oilers were 5-12-1,  which was 10 points back of Seattle and St. Louis for the final wild-card spot in the West and 19 points behind Vegas for the top spot in the conference.

Those days are long forgotten now.

That's when the Oilers — a couple weeks after Kris Knoblauch took over as coach for Jay Woodcroft, who was dismissed following a 3-9-1 start — went on an eight-game winning streak and began the long climb out of the NHL's basement.

A hockey player celebrates

Starting with that eight-game win streak, the Oilers, who had a 16-game winning streak not long after the eight-game run ended, were the best team in the NHL for the remainder of the regular season.

They were 44-15-5 the rest of the way, leading the league in goals (239) and goal differential (plus-76) in that span.

And now, the final awaits. Much like the Panthers on Saturday night, the Oilers didn't touch the conference championship trophy in the post-game celebration. It's the bigger trophy that they're seeking.

"We're not done here. This is just one step in the right direction for us," Edmonton's Mattias Ekholm said.

Edmonton is just the third team in NHL history to make the final after being 10 points or more out of a playoff spot; the others were Toronto in 1958-59 and St. Louis in 2018-19. The Blues won the Cup that season.

Hockey fans stand outside a stadium.

The Oilers had only three shots in the first period of Game 6. They were enough.

McDavid opened the scoring with a spectacular goal, weaving through traffic before beating Oettinger up high for a 1-0 lead.

"Connor McDavid, doing Connor McDavid things," Skinner said.

  • Panthers going back to Stanley Cup final, top Rangers 2-1 to win East title in 6 games
  • Oilers icon Messier credits team for rebounding after horrid start to NHL season

Added Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl said: "There's one player in the world that can make things like that happen."

McDavid then found Hyman in the slot for another power-play score late in the first; the shots at that point were 6-3 Dallas, but the score was 2-0 Edmonton and the Oilers were on their way.

The Oilers finished with only 10 shots on goal, the fewest by a team in a playoff win since 1990.

"We hung in there. We got it done," McDavid said. "Everyone deserves it."

Atop my back, the world gently jostles. An orange orb contains within it a whole planet. I am an insect, possibly organic in nature, or mechanical, or both. I am no Atlas, and yet this feat of impossible strength is not beyond me. I place the orb on a pedestal and kneel before it, launching into the air before diving headfirst into this other world. Orange orb becomes orange world, and within it, there are more mysteries.

Cocoon is the debut game from Geometric Interactive, founded by former Playdead employees Jakob Schmid and Jeppe Carlsen. Carlsen was the lead gameplay designer for Limbo and Inside , and his influence is prevalent here, albeit with about 100% more color and 85% less horror. (There is still the occasional undulating biomass.) Similar to Limbo and Inside , Cocoon is a short but memorable experience, a single-button puzzler with evocative visuals that starts quietly and ends on a spectacular crescendo.

It is difficult to say with precision what Cocoon is about. Metamorphosis, perhaps, but also stasis. Order and disorder. The cosmos and the biosphere. The end, the beginning, and their interrelation. Entirely wordless, Cocoon ’s narrative is evocative but elusive. Everything is gesture and implication. What is parasite and what is symbiote is left for you to decide. It’s the rare game that leaves this much room for interpretation, a deliberate ambiguity that complements Cocoon ’s satisfying but linear puzzles.

The small protagonist of Cocoon travels down a giant hive-like being

The game begins with a birth. A streak of light strikes a mountain, traveling down and into a metallic cocoon at its base, which shudders and opens, revealing the player character: a bipedal insectoid most closely resembling a beetle.

You begin to wander. Initial puzzles are simple — just switches or pulleys. Quickly, though, you find a strange apparatus on the ground: a metallic grate with off-white tendrils poking through its vents. You kneel on it, and suddenly you are launched up and out of the world, into a dark room with an orange orb. Then, something sinister awakens and dives into the orange orb. You carry the orb out and away, into a new world where you use it to solve switch puzzles.

The game can initially feel simplistic. Early challenges involve placing the orb on receptacles to open doors or power bridges. Hardly novel stuff. Defeating the first boss unlocks a new ability for the orb — the ability to reveal invisible orange platforms — but even that, audiovisually pleasing though it is, is mostly just a means by which to uncover more pathways to orb receptacles that open doors or power bridges.

But simplicity, in Cocoon , is short-lived.

The titular Cocoon in Cocoon, before it opens up to reveal the insect-like protagonist

It isn’t until Cocoon introduces a second orb to the equation that the game’s complexity comes into focus. Suddenly, it isn’t just about bouncing between two worlds, but three. And now, it isn’t just about moving between them, but layering them. You can place the green orb inside the orange orb by leaving the green orb inside the orange world, then popping back to the overworld, where you can pick up the orange orb again, now with a green orb floating inside it. Confusing? Strap in. I won’t spoil how many orbs you’re expected to juggle by the game’s end, each with their own special ability, but by Cocoon ’s conclusion, my initial hesitations had all but vanished in the face of the game’s inventiveness and pitch-perfect pacing. Devious but fair, Cocoon does not lack for difficulty or the ability to astound.

Cocoon ’s sound design deserves ample praise alongside its visuals and gameplay. A gorgeous synth soundtrack accompanies your journey, occasionally threaded with a dampened piano glissando that never fails to inspire dread. The game plays a particular melody when you’ve solved a puzzle, but cleverly, it begins to play just as you’re approaching the solution, creating this pleasing interval where you feel not only smart but sure of yourself — which is good, because you’re going to need that surety to see the game through to its conclusion.

The insect-like protagonist of Cocoon pauses before a bridge in a desert environment

Cocoon is not long, but it is dense. My initial playthrough clocked in at around four hours, and I added another two hours to my playtime by seeking out the remaining Moon Ancestors, optional puzzles that are hidden throughout the game. I wouldn’t want it to be longer, however. Cocoon is a perfectly edited game, narrowed down to its most essential elements, presented without filler. It’s the kind of game you’ll wish you could experience again for the first time, delighting at the complexity its developers were able to wring out of a game controlled with a single button.

A late-game puzzle involves the creation of an impossibility. Something that seems to break the game’s rules, and yet doesn’t, under the ever-thickening logic of Cocoon . It was at that moment that I knew Cocoon was a complete game — one that sees through every permutation of its conceit. Thorough, I think, is the best word to describe it.

Geometric Interactive has created an impossibility with Cocoon . It’s a joyful, improbable experience that will leave you transformed.

Cocoon will be released Sept. 29 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Destiny 2: The Final Shape Campaign Missions List And How Long To Beat

Here's a look at the missions you'll be playing in the Destiny 2: The Final Shape campaign.

By Darryn Bonthuys on June 7, 2024 at 6:34AM PDT

After years of expansions and seasonal content, Destiny 2: The Final Shape has arrived. The latest expansion to the game introduces a new campaign that unfolds across a series of missions, all focused on preventing the Witness from enacting its plan to reduce the universe to a state of eternal stillness.

Can the Guardians and the rest of the coalition forces save the day in time? That's a question that can only be answered by playing the game, and if you're looking to dive in, here's a list of every mission in The Final Shape campaign:

Destiny 2: The Final Shape missions

  • Transmigration

Similar to previous Destiny 2 expansions, that's a handful of missions to work your way through, although each one is fairly lengthy and they're supplemented by a brief dive into the game's new strike, Liminality. The missions can be played in Normal or Legendary mode, and choosing the tougher difficulty will help you get ready for the Salvation's Edge raid by rewarding you with a set of 1960 power armor.

While these missions form the bulk of The Final Shape's story, the true conclusion can be found in its raid, Salvation's Edge . This is where players will finally take on the Witness inside of its stronghold within the Pale Heart, as the race will be on to prevent it from achieving its goals.

How long is Destiny 2: The Final Shape?

How long the campaign takes to complete comes down to player skill and the difficulty mode chosen, but you can expect to spend around 6-7 hours playing through The Final Shape missions before you get to the raid. If you can't join the raid, you'll still be able to finish the fight against the Witness in a piece of separate content that will be unlocked after the raid is beaten the first time by another fireteam.

While the campaign is short, it does unlock a ton of content. Exotic weapon missions, the Pale Heart patrol zone, and other post-launch content can be accessed after you've clashed with the Witness, and players can also complete their Prism subclass by hunting down additional Fragments and Aspects.

If you are looking to remind the Witness that you've slayed a few gods already, you can check out our The Final Shape guides hub for tips and tricks to get yourself ready for the ultimate fight. You can read up on how to get the new Exotic sword Ergo Sum , Prismatic build guides , and how to increase your power .

How to beat the Destiny 2 Iconoclasm mission on Legendary in The Final Shape

Here are some tips to help you complete Iconoclasm on Legendary difficulty in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission start

  • Witness's Blessed boss
  • Dolgith, Blade of Reasoning boss
  • The Witness

The Destiny 2 Iconoclasm mission is the last in The Final Shape campaign, and it's a tough one, seeing you face the full force of the Dread and even the Witness itself. Along the way, you'll have to face many bosses, ranging from Tormentors to Taken, figure several different encounter mechanics, and navigate the Sacrarium – a labyrinthine construct holding the ritual site where the Destiny 2 villain originated. The whole mission is almost like a Raid or Dungeon, and it can be brutal, especially on Legendary difficulty, so I've laid out how the Iconoclasm mission in Destiny 2 The Final Shape works and some tips for beating it. Big spoilers below for The Final Shape campaign since this is the last mission!

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm walkthrough

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission sacrarium

Destiny 2 weekly reset Best Destiny 2 Exotic armor Destiny 2 Prismatic Class item

With the knowledge that "what was made, can be unmade" from the veiled statues, it's time to find a way to defeat the Witness at the memory of the ritual site where it was created. However, there is a long and highly perilous journey to get there, all part of the Iconoclasm mission in Destiny 2 The Final Shape :

  • Follow the main path to reach the fortress gate. You'll have to fight a lot of Taken along the way. When you get to a large crop field area, jump across the gap to the cliff with a black arm carved in and walk along it to the first encounter.
  • Fight the Imprint of Nezarec boss – a Destiny 2 Tormentor . Be very careful where you stand during this fight as I got knocked off the cliff several times when the Tormentor did its big dive attack.
  • Head through the gate into the Sacrarium area and bear right. This will eventually lead you to one of the Witness's Darkness anomaly tunnels where you'll see a room full of red-eyed Ghosts. Drop down into the next room to face the first major boss.
  • Defeat the Witness's Blessed boss . Full details on how to do that below!
  • Head down the left tunnel to go deeper into the Sacrarium . Eventually you'll reach another anomaly which you can walk through, which then leads to another boss fight.
  • Defeat Dolgith, Blade of Reasoning . Find an explanation of how to beat Dolgith below.
  • Climb the Sacrarium. The massive structure with the glowing orange symbol on it that you probably saw right at the beginning of this mission is full of grooves and passages leading up through it.
  • Press on through the Sacrarium halls, tunnels, and corridors until you reach a rally banner.
  • Battle the Witness . This is a pretty complicated fight, so it's all explained further down.

Once you've seen that fight through, you've completed Iconoclasm and are into the endgame of The Final Shape, helping the Traveler to build in strength before facing the Witness (presumably) one last time in the Salvation's Edge Raid. You'll meet allies such as Micah-10 in Destiny 2 and uncover new Exotics, some of which might be the best Destiny 2 Exotics .

How to beat the Witness's Blessed boss in Iconoclasm

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission Witness's Blessed boss

This is quite an involved boss fight in terms of mechanics, with all the work needing to be done before the massive Taken Hive Knight Eshkin'tuk, Witness's Blessed, even appears. And if you die while fighting, you've got to start all over from step one. Here's what to do:

  • Clear out the enemies then shoot the Darkness splinter.
  • Go to one of the new Darkness orbs on either side of the room and shoot it while standing nearby to get the "Shielded from Darkness" buff . In the next area, the air is toxic so this buff protects you from taking damage for a limited time.
  • Jump down the nearby trapdoor and defeat both Resonant Warder Hive Knight minibosses . They're not as strong as they look, but they can teleport unpredictably and have dangerous melee attacks, so don't let them get close to you. There are more Darkness orbs in this room too, so you can refresh your protective buff.
  • Look at the glyphs that both Resonant Warders dropped and remember them , then head through the portal to get back up to the first room.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission glyph

  • Find and approach the two glyphs you saw in the previous room . Touching both glyphs summons the Witness's Blessed.
  • Defeat the boss. Nothing special here. Just use your weapons and abilities to blast the Taken Knight apart.

How to beat Dolgith, Blade of Reasoning in Iconoclasm

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission Dolgith ogre boss

The Dolgith boss fight during the Destiny 2 Iconoclasm mission is mechanically very similar to the previous fight but with a little more complexity. This time, Dolgith is present from the beginning, but has a seemingly invulnerable shield to bring down. Here's how you beat it:

  • Clear out the enemies and Taken Blights, then shoot the Darkness splinter. The Taken inside the Blights must be damaged with Prismatic first!
  • Shoot one of the Darkness orbs to get the buff, then jump through the portal to the next room .
  • Defeat both Resonant Warder Hive Knight bosses and look at the glyphs they drop. This is exactly like the previous boss fight, except the room is packed with pillars to make it more maze-like. Don’t forget to refresh your Shielded from Darkness buff either. Jump through the exit portal when you've checked both glyphs.
  • Find and approach the two glyphs . Nullifying the two glyphs summons an Aegis shield for you to grab.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission Dolgith boss guardian with aegis shield

  • Destroy Dolgith's shield with the Aegis Super ability.
  • Damage Dolgith. Once you halve the boss's health, it'll resummon its shield.
  • Repeat steps 1-6. Once you reach the second damage phase, you can kill Dolgith .

How to beat the Witness in Iconoclasm on Legendary

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission The Witness

For this fight, you’re not really fighting the Witness directly, mainly focusing on avoiding its attacks and finding ways to slay its Dread protectors. This is a long and challenging battle, especially on Legendary difficulty. There are lots of quite specific steps to follow and plenty of ways to die, sending you right back to the start of the fight. Here are all the steps needed to beat the Witness in the Iconoclast mission, as well as some tips along the way for Legendary difficulty:

  • Shortly after starting the fight, you'll see a message in your feed saying, "The Witness unleashes an attack!", and will hear a sound like a sword being drawn. When this happens, get into cover behind one of the many rows of statues and wait for the Witnesses blade attack to hit. The Witness uses this attack throughout the fight, so always look out for the warning message – it can easily kill you if even a few of the blades hit, so don't push your luck.
  • Defeat the Dread and get the Omen Subjugator boss (Lenurae, Subjugator of Fluxion) down to half health. Don't get caught near any of its Stasis crystals while fighting as these can easily kill you on Legendary difficulty. Once at half health, it'll shield itself.
  • Shoot a Darkness orb to get the protective buff, then head left to grab the Aegis shield .
  • Use the Aegis shield Super to destroy the Omen's shield. You can also use the Aegis' bubble shield ability to protect yourself from projectiles.
  • Run to the Fissure of Light near the door you entered the arena from and hold down the bubble shield ability. The Witness will then summon a tornado of Darkness blades, but your shield will block them, with the fissure providing infinite energy for this ability. Maintain the bubble until the tornado ends.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission guardian using aegis

  • Kill the Omen. With its shield down, you can resume damage to defeat the boss.
  • Grab the Sword of the Traveler and slice the Darkness node in front of the veiled statues. Follow the button prompt to embrace the Darkness and get teleported to a new area.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission guardian using sword

  • Destroy the middle veiled statue with the sword. You'll get teleported back to the arena after.
  • Repeat step 2 , although this time, the boss will be a Harbinger Subjugator (Molak'al, Subjugator of the Traveler) , so watch out for its suspending Strand powers. The other main difference is that the air is now toxic, which means you'll need to shoot Darkness orbs to keep your Shielded from Darkness buff topped up.
  • Head right and grab the Aegis shield.
  • Repeat step 5 and then kill the Harbinger boss. Be aware that lots of enemies will be protected by Prismatic barriers at this point, so it's good to have Transcendence ready to use here.
  • Repeat step 7 and destroy the left veiled statue with the sword.
  • Grab another sword and slice the Darkness node one more time and destroy the final veiled statue. When you grab sword, you'll see that your Vanguard allies have joined you in the fight. Lots of Dread enemies will also arrive but you don't have to fight them, so just focus on the node.
  • You'll now be teleported to a twisted corridor full of darkness blades. Grab the Aegis and use the bubble shield to block the blades, moving from fissure to fissure to restore energy to the shield. Do not drop the bubble shield or fall off the walkway.
  • Reach the end and make your escape. Get to the end of the corridor and a cutscene will play where you make your escape thanks to Queen Mara.

Team USA beats cricket powerhouse Pakistan in historic World Cup victory

Cricket may have finally gotten its moment in the U.S.

The U.S. men’s national cricket team delivered a stunning blow to heavyweight Pakistan in Texas on Thursday during a surprisingly close T20 World Cup match that went into the equivalent of extra innings.

The match in the group-stage round of the tournament, which the U.S. is co-hosting with the West Indies, was played in a former minor-league baseball park in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, one of three U.S. venues where the tournament is being held.

Cricket fans around the world are calling the win one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. On NPR, “All Things Considered” co-host Juana Summers likened it to “the Boston Red Sox losing to the Durham Bulls,” a Minor League Baseball team in North Carolina.

The crowd was dominated by green-shirt-clad supporters of Pakistan who were disappointed by their team's performance, but left the grounds impressed with the U.S. side, said fan Aziz Rajwani, a 58-year-old immigrant from Karachi who lives in Colleyville, Texas.

"They had a great respect. The crowd was cheering," Rajwani told NBC News on Friday. "Yes, they were upset with their team, Pakistani fans were. But at the same time they were appreciating this American team."

The U.S. team, he said, is now the “talk of the town, talk of the world.”

This historic American triumph is not getting the same reception in the U.S, where cricket is still considered a very niche sport, played mostly among its Caribbean and South Asian diaspora.

“Beating Pakistan, and playing for the first time, the way we played today I’m really proud of the boys,” said USA captain Monank Patel, who was named player of the match. “Of course, beating Pakistan in a World Cup is going to open many doors for us."

USA v Pakistan - ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup West Indies & USA 2024

The win against Pakistan is all the more remarkable because the American players, who are on the team part time and have day jobs, were going up against a team that won the T20 World Cup in 2009 and came in second in 2007, the year the tournament began, and again in 2022.

Most of the U.S. players are of South Asian or Caribbean descent, and some of them previously played in India or the West Indies.

USA bowler Saurabh Netravalkar, an engineer at Oracle, is already achieving celebrity status in India, where he formerly played for its junior team.

“Proud of the team and our very own engineering and cricket star,” Oracle said in a post on X .

The U.S. win is good news for the International Cricket Council, which chose it as co-host of the tournament partly in hope that it would stir American interest in the sport. Co-hosting gave the U.S. team an automatic berth in the tournament, which it is participating in for the first time.

“Now that’s how to grow the game in the states,” Michael Vaughan, former captain of England’s cricket team, said in a post on X after Pakistan’s defeat.

For such a historic moment, few Americans actually saw it. The match was not broadcast on U.S. television, and the stadium holds only about 7,000 people.

“Credit to USA, they performed so well,” Pakistan captain Babar Azam said after the match. “They were better than us in all aspects of the game.”

USA beat Pakistan in T20 Men's Cricket World Cup

Though the Pakistan team has been struggling in many ways recently, undergoing a series of leadership changes, it is still ranked sixth in the world, compared with 18th for the U.S. After its defeat on Thursday, Pakistan faced fury from its fans on social media.

Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistani cricket player known as one of the fastest bowlers in the history of the sport, described himself as “hurt and disappointed” in a post on X .

“Unfortunately Pakistan never deserved to win,” he said in a video. “USA was always at a commanding position.”

The U.S. now sits on top of the table in its group, having defeated Canada in its previous match last weekend. But the streak may come to an end next week against the world’s top-ranked T20 team, India.

Pakistan remains in the tournament, and will play India in New York this weekend in a highly anticipated match between two of cricket’s titans. Tickets for the match, which would usually sell out within a few hours if played in either country, were still available early Friday and going for up to $10,000 for premium seats.

Despite its low profile in the U.S., cricket has centuries of history in the country, where it was introduced to the colonies by the British. But it fell by the wayside as other sports such as football, basketball and its younger and simpler cousin baseball grew in popularity.

USA v Pakistan - ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup West Indies & USA 2024

The sport is witnessing a revival in the U.S., where there are six Major League Cricket teams, one of which is co-owned by Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella .

The first season was hosted last year at Grand Prairie Stadium as well as Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina, and the second season kicks off on July 5, shortly after the end of the T20 World Cup.

Rajwani, who owns a gas station in Fort Worth, said he's confident cricket will grow in the United States, especially as second-generation children from immigrant households go to college and share their love of the sport with classmates.

"When Americans see the passion in the game, then I'm sure it will grow," said Rajwani.

Rajwani vividly remembers his childhood of scraping up the rupees to get into national cricket stadium and watch matches from uncomfortable concrete benches. He said he also believes this non-contact sport can appeal to American parents.

"It's a safe game, especially when you look at other sports like football," he said. "Cricket is a safe game."

But the renewed investment in cricket in the U.S. hasn’t been without challenges.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, where the match between India and Ireland was played this week, came under criticism by the ICC for not performing up to standards.

On Friday, the ICC said its team was working hard to “remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches.”

Indiana All-Stars girls have sweep in mind: 'Going back to 2016 is too long.'

journey game how long to beat

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Andy Maguire was discussing Juliann Woodard’s game this week with his Indiana All-Stars coaching staff. He referenced Kevin McHale, the former running mate of Larry Bird on the championship Boston Celtics teams of the 1980s.

McHale came a little before Woodard’s time. But the Jennings County star, who will play her college ball at Michigan State, can appreciate the comparison. “I’ve heard of him,” she said.

“I’ve come to love that girl this week,” said Maguire, the Indiana All-Stars coach from Zionsville. “She’s just an energizer in her own way … it’s not fast but it’s really good. She’s just tough and strong. She’s one of those quiet leaders. You can tell kids really respect her on the floor.”

With IndyStar Miss Basketball Chloe Spreen saddled with foul trouble most of Friday night, the 6-foot Woodard led the Indiana All-Stars to a 90-79 victory over Kentucky in the first game of the weekend doubleheader on Friday night at Lexington Catholic High School. Woodard finished with 23 points and six rebounds in nearly 35 minutes.

Woodard’s teammate, Fort Wayne Snider’s Jordyn Poole, added 19 points and six assists, though she spent the last few minutes on the bench with an ice pack covering her cheek. Poole said he was hit during a loose ball scramble in the same spot she was injured in the Junior All-Stars game on Wednesday night at Kokomo.

“After the whistle, she kind of ripped away and elbowed me in the face,” said Poole, a Purdue commit. “But I think I’ll be OK (for Saturday’s game).”

The girls Indiana All-Stars have not swept Kentucky since 2016, a fact All-Stars director Mike Broughton made a point to mention going back to when the team was selected. The All-Stars have t-shirts with two “wins” inside of a basketball on the back.

Sweeping Kentucky is clearly the goal.

“Going back to 2016 is too long,” Maguire said. “Our goal is to finish the job tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll have more of our players available.”

Bedford North Lawrence’s Spreen, an Alabama recruit, was in foul trouble early. She had two fouls at halftime, then picked up her third and fourth in the first three minutes of the third quarter. She ended up playing only 16 minutes, fouling out with 7:12 left as she battled for an offensive rebound. Spreen finished with 12 points, two rebounds and two steals.

Spreen said she was happy to get a win but also ready to turn the page to Saturday’s home game.

“I think we’re all ready for this game to play in front of our Indiana home crowd,” she said. “I think it will be fun for us to get another shot at them. I think we’ve got it in the bag but we’ll see how it goes. We’ll come back tomorrow and things we didn’t execute during that game like defense and matching up in transition … we’ll fix those things and get right for tomorrow.”

Kentucky gave Indiana all it could handle for most of Friday’s game, even with Miss Basketball Trinity Rowe, a Southern Mississippi commit, on the bench for several minutes in the second half with cramps in her legs. Penn State commit Shaelyn Steele, a point guard, gave Indiana trouble with 25 points and six assists, shooting 12-for-15 from the free-throw line.

It was a foul-plagued game on both sides. The Indiana All-Stars were 20-for-30 from the free-throw line, while Kentucky shot 26-for-35. There were 44 fouls called between the teams.

“We definitely want (Spreen) out there more than 16 minutes,” Maguire said. “We want her on the floor for 25 or so, at least. But I was really proud of our subs. In little spurts, every kid gave us something tonight. Some big shot or some big defensive plays. Chloe has been a tremendous leader this week so you don’t only lose her tremendous athletic ability out there but her leadership, too.”

Noblesville’s Reagan Wilson was the fourth All-Star in double figures, finishing with 11 points. Her 3-pointer with 3:12 left pushed the All-Stars' lead to 84-75. Kentucky never seriously threatened after that point.

Woodard was impressive throughout, doing a little bit of everything. Poole made a more current player comparison than Maguire, saying she plays like Kevin Durant.

“She can do it all,” Poole said. “She’s a beast, too. Her mentality is different, too. I’d love to play with her on another level, but I wish her the best of luck at Michigan State. I know she’s going to do great things, for sure. I feel like I can trust her out there. She’s a great teammate and a vocal leader.”

Woodard, the leading scorer in Jennings County history with 1,755 points (and 1,111 rebounds), said she has worked on her shot to become a more versatile offensive player. As for comparisons, well, she will leave that to others.

“I’m just me,” she said. “I just play basketball. I try to feed off of my teammates energy and bring my own energy and do what I can for my team.”
