What Students Need to Do
- If you are experiencing severe symptoms, go to the nearest emergency room.
- If symptoms are not severe, call the LVHN Nurse Information Line first and they will direct your care.
- When you call the LVHN nurse information line, access a video visit, or go to an LVHN location, indicate that you are a Lehigh University student.
When should I contact the LVHN Nurse Information Line?
- You feel you may have been exposed to COVID-19, either on campus or elsewhere, but have no symptoms
- You are experiencing symptoms and think you might have COVID-19
- You need help registering for MyLVHN to access a video visit
- You need help using MyLVHN to access your test results

What do I do if I have symptoms?
If you are experiencing severe symptoms associated with COVID-19 such as shortness of breath, pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, inability to wake up or stay awake, or bluish lips or face, go to the nearest hospital emergency department. If, as with most patients, symptoms are mild, follow these steps:
- Immediately self-isolate at home to reduce the risk of exposing others.
- Call the MyLVHN Nurse Information line at 1-888-402-LVHN. Available 24/7.
- Follow the instructions provided by the nurse, which may include
- Complete an E-Visit (detailed questionnaire visit submitted to a provider) by visiting MyLVHN.org or your MyLVHN app. Available for scheduling 24/7.
- Complete an LVHN COVID-19 Video Screening by downloading the MyLVHN app. Available on-demand from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For complete instructions visit: https://www.lvhn.org/treatments/covid-19-video-screenings
- Go to an assess and test center for testing and/or treatment.
LVHN participates in most insurance plans but if your insurance does not cover services at LVHN, this will be discussed at the time of service.
You can always choose to contact your PCP or other care provider first. Calling the LVHN Nurse Information Line and accessing a video visit allows for assessment without exposure to yourself or others, and is often the fastest way to obtain COVID-19 testing if needed.

The Face of Virtual Care
Excellent care and convenience are what patients will find with all LVHN virtual care offerings.

An itchy rash. A follow-up with a specialist. A runny nose. Once upon a time, these symptoms may have sent someone driving to the doctor’s office. Now, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is giving patients another, more convenient option: virtual care. It’s a service that Andrew Hunadi, PA-C, with LVHN emergency medicine, says is more accessible than ever before. “The evolution of smartphones and devices, and apps like MyLVHN, has really helped make virtual care more practical for people,” says Hunadi.
For a rash or other minor illness or injury, choose an LVHN ExpressCARE Video Visit. For non-urgent health concerns, try an E-Visit, which allows someone to send a secure message to their health care provider’s team. And for specific concerns, virtual office appointments are available for specialists and primary care providers.
Excellent care and convenience are what patients will find with all LVHN virtual care offerings. Visit online to learn more.

LVHN is offering E-Visit option for patients
Technology innovations at Lehigh Valley Health Network are making care more convenient during the COVID-19 outbreak. In the latest effort to utilize secure technology for care, LVHN Rehabilitation Services - which recently established consolidated sites of service to limit potential COVID-19 exposure to patients, staff and community - is introducing E-Visits and LVHN Video Visits for rehabilitation patients.
E-Visits are offered through the patient portal, MyLVHN. These convenient and secure email visits will provide current patients of LVHN Rehabilitation Services the opportunity to seek medical advice on techniques to manage injury-related symptoms while at home or seek guidance on their home exercise program. All physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy E-Visits will be answered by a licensed rehabilitation provider.
Patients will be able to initiate an E-Visit through their MyLVHN account - either by selecting the E-Visits icon found on the MyLVHN app, or if on MyLVHN.org, by scrolling to “Quick Links” and selecting “Schedule an E-Visit.” An interactive questionnaire will ask questions relevant to the patient’s care and allow the patient to ask questions to their rehab team.
LVHN Rehabilitation Services also now offers scheduled LVHN video visits. Current patients who could benefit from a video visit will be contacted by a member of LVHN Rehabilitation Services and scheduled for their video visit appointment. These selected patients will access their LVHN Video Visit appointment on the MyLVHN app, checking in for the video visit by pressing the My Appointments icon.

Lehigh Valley Health Network updates guidelines for visits
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has updated its guidelines for visits, effective May 20.
During the past 10 weeks, LVHN implemented many processes, such as visitor temperature screenings at entrances, to help keep everyone safe in the facilities. The safety measures have proven to be very effective.
As LVHN hospitals continue to see declines in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region, visitors are invited to select areas to provide support and companionship to hospitalized patients.
In LVHN hospitals and inpatient facilities, visitors are allowed in these circumstances:
• Labor and delivery and postpartum areas: One partner-support person may stay the duration of the hospitalization.
• Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU): One set of parents or authorized representatives may visit.
• Hospitalized patients age 18 and younger: One set of parents or authorized representatives may visit.
• Patients with developmental disability, major neurocognitive disorder or dementia: One designated support person essential to patient care may visit.
• Non-COVID-19 medical surgical-low-level monitoring units: One healthy support person may visit daily for the duration of the hospitalization.
• Patients ready to be discharged from the hospital: One healthy support person may visit to assist as necessary.
• Emergency department: One healthy visitor may accompany a patient.
• Non-COVID-19 patients who are at end-of-life: Two healthy visitors may visit at a time.
• COVID-19 patients who are at end-of-life: Two healthy visitors my visit at a time.
Healthy visitors are allowed under these guidelines:
• Visitors will have their temperatures taken and will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19.
• Visitors will be asked to provide a prior history of a COVID-19 diagnosis.
• Visitors will wear a face mask at all times. A mask will be provided to those who arrive without one.
• Visitors will be allowed in the patient room only and should not visit other areas in the hospital.
• No visitors under age 18 will be permitted except for visits to patients at the end of life.
Visitors recovering from COVID-19 will be allowed if:
• 10 days have passed since they developed symptoms.
• They have been fever-free without the use of antipyretic medications (used to reduce fever) for three days.
• They have experienced an improvement in other symptoms.
In LVHN hospitals and inpatient facilities, visitors are not allowed in these areas:
• Non-COVID-19 intensive care units
• COVID-19 intensive care units
• COVID-19 medical surgical-low-level monitoring units
• Same-day surgery
LVHN COVID-FREE hospitals include LVHN - Tilghman, Coordinated Health Allentown, 1503 N. Cedar Crest Boulevard, and Coordinated Health Bethlehem, 2310 Highland Avenue.
The guidelines and restrictions for visiting will be reviewed weekly and will be updated based on the latest information.
