The Ultimate Canada Motorcycle Route

The Best Motorcycle Route in Canada

Wild west canada.

This route is in the West of Canada. My girlfriend and I rode this route years ago and fell in love with the place.

It took us 14 days and around 1,600 miles. We rode two-up and took our time. It’s a comfortable 9-day trip with one rest day in the middle if you haven’t got the full two weeks. But you will most likely want at least one extra day either side for picking up and dropping off your bike if you’re renting.

What makes this route special is that it takes on BC and Alberta, along the Gold Rush Trail, to hot springs, waterfalls, Banff, Lake Louise, the boiling hot desert region of Kamloops, the highest mountain in the Rockies and the epic Icefields Parkway route with its overhanging glaciers – the Icefields Parkway  is the one thing you cannot miss on your Canada motorcycle tour.

For more info on what this ride was like for us, check out this story…

Day by day route

Day 1: Vancouver to Whistler 100 miles Stanley Park, Lion’s Gate Bridge, Highway 99, Sea to Sky Highway to the world-famous ski resort town of Whistler

Day 2: Whistler to Kelowna 260 miles Pemberton, into the mountains, Coast Range Mountains, cowboy country past cattle ranches to Kelowna.

Day 3: Kelowna to Ainsworth Hot Springs 230 miles The route changes from hills to mountains. You’ll ride through the Kootenay Mountain region, famous for ski resorts, breweries and the hot springs of Ainsworth.

Day 4: Ainsworth Hot Springs to Revelstoke 135 miles Brilliant roads that flit between tarmac and little ferry crossings over turquoise blue lakes. There are plenty of hidden gems and off-piste routes here, so take a little extra time to dig them out.

Day 5: Revelstoke to Banff 205 miles Storied Kicking Horse Pass, narrow valleys and plenty of switchbacks.

Day 6: Rest Day in Banff

Day 7: Banff to Mount Robson 235 miles This one’s special. Today is the Icefields Parkway and one of the best roads in the world. Mount Robson is the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies are the riding around that area is very cool. You’ll probably see the most wildlife of your trip on this stretch too.

Day 8: Mount Robson to Kamloops 230 miles Follow the Thompson River and the Canadian National Railway Line. Kamloops is the wild west part of BC. It was 42C when we arrived. It’s an arid desert region.

Day 9: Kamloops to Vancouver 280 miles Follow the 1800’s Gold Rush Trail through Fraser River Canyon from Cache Creek to Hope and stop off at Hell’s Gate Canyon, jump onto the Trans Canada Highway before arriving back in Vancouver.

We have a Can–am Spyder and would like to take this ultimate Canada tour this summer. We live in the Niagara Falls area. Can you send us some maps or can we download maps? Is there fuel stops we can make, b/c I don’t think we could make it on a tank for one day. We would have to tank up somewhere down route. Also can you send us accommodations web site? Thanks. Hearing from you.

Hi John, thanks for your comment. That’s great to hear you’re looking to ride this route in Canada. We’re from the UK and have only ridden on the western side of Canada and haven’t done the route you’re asking about from east to west. However, I can still help you with this! All of the questions you’re asking can be answered easily with one free mobile phone app called iOverlander. And also download Maps.Me too. I have written an article explaining how these two apps work here: https://www.madornomad.com/travel-apps/ You download iOverlander and then zoom in on your route, it will show you hundreds and hundreds of Points of Interest along the way including mechanic shops, hotels, petrol stations, places to see, hotels and much more. All of these way points are added by fellow travellers with coordinates and information. Once you click it, you will see the option to View in Mapping App which is where you can open the location in Maps.Me (which is a free map app for directions) and then plot your route there. I have checked it for Canada and there are hotels, petrol stations etc all along your route. Just keep zooming in and they will all show up. I hope this helps and if you need any more info, then please get in touch or email. All the best and I hope you have an amazing trip! Andy

Thanks buddy. We will look into this information. Have a great day and travel and stay safe. 🧳🏍

Hi John, no problem at all, hope it helps and as I said just give us a shout if you need anything else! Cheers, Andy

Nice trip, however there are a couple of errors in your copy.

The Icefields Parkway is in the province of Alberta, not BC. Highway 93. Epic ride when it’s not busy. Or snowing. And it can snow there in July.

The Rockies are only along the Alberta-BC border from Grande Cache to Montana. Your ride also took you through the Cariboo, Purcell, Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges. All worthy of exploring.

Hi Darren, thanks for your comment, I had to read through the article a few times to find where it said the IFP was in BC because at the beginning of the article it says this is a BC and Alberta guide. But! I found it and corrected it, so thanks for pointing that out! 🙂 And thanks for noting the additional mountain ranges, i’m sure some readers who are planning longer trips there will find that helpful to look into. Cheers, Andy

What kind of license do you need to need to drive a motorcycle along this route? Would a foreign motorcycle license work?

Hi Agustin, You will need a full licence to ride whichever size motorcycle or vehicle you would like to rent. Some rental companies may ask for an International Driver’s Permit – but this depends on where you’re from. My advice would be to contact the rental or tour company you’re thinking of hiring from and ask them exactly what they require. Cheers and all the best! Andy

I’m planning a trip from Utah with 3 other riders in July. How far in advance should we make hotel reservations, realistically, on this route. We typically ride until we’re tired 6-8 hours a day with breaks every 100 miles and look to find hotels the same day preferably in semi-remote towns. Could you give me an idea of how much availability for rooms there is, please. Thank you

Hi Roger, Good question. Things have changed a lot since Covid, so it’s very hard to tell how much availability there is nowadays or if you need to book in advance. The best advice I can give is to pick like 6 or 7 hotels/ motels or guest houses spread out along your planned route and just give them a call or email and ask directly what availability is like in July. You’ll then get an accurate and up-to-date idea from the people in the know. Sorry I can’t be of more help here. Best of luck with your trip, I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time! All the best, Andy

Thanks for the post. I can’t wait to ride this! Are all of the roads paved on this route?

Hi Mike, thanks for your comment. Looks like Roger posted below in reply to you. Yes, you can do all of this route paved. There are off-road options, but you don’t need to take them at all – only if you fancy it. Cheers, Andy

I went up through Montana, Road to the Sun and stayed in the Rockies in Canada and Washington, Idaho, Utah. All roads were paved and in great shape. I checked on google earth to make sure they were paved. I chose to go from Barriere to Revelstoke on a dirt road that was very compacted and well maintained. No worries about the roads. 😎

That’s awesome! Sounds like you had an absolutely brilliant trip! Thanks for the report 😀 Cheers, Andy

We loved this small group Harley tour thru the Yucatan. It was a great mix of riding, culture, geology, archaeology, beaches and so much more. Curt, Manny and Carlos ensured that everyone got the most out of the trip. Many people we told about going on this trip and we were concerned about be safe in Mexico but be assured at all times we felt very welcomed and safe. I highly recommend you add this to your to do tour list.

Carmen Pineda-Selva

What a great mix of riding and relaxing. From enjoying the sand at fabulous beaches, exploring ancient ruins, experiencing the alluring culture, and relaxing with fresh and feisty mouth watering cuisine. Life doesn't get better than warm weather and riding Harley's through small towns waving to kids. The tour guides were knowledgeable and the bikes were well maintained. Do this!

Ride The Rockies + Best Of BC | 2023

This was an awesome trip. Met a great group of people from all over. Saw some beautiful country and learned about the history. Well worth the money for checking things off bucket list. Plan to sign up for another trip with FREEDOM BIKER TOURS. THANKS JD

Ted Davis (Canada)

The “Ride The Rockies and Best of BC” motorcycle tour was well organized and conducted by Freedom Biker Tours. They ensured that everyone experienced an abundance of great scenery and excellent mountain roads, with time to stop and take in the views. When not riding their motorcycles, participants were provided with a wide variety of meals throughout the day, and comfortable accommodations for the night. It was a great trip, with riders from all walks of life – some from overseas – who bonded through their shared two-wheeled experience of BC and Alberta!

Videography Incognito

I was commissioned for a 7 day CMTA (Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association) and Travel Alberta video project, and JD from Freedom Biker Tours was hired as my guide. It was my first time on a motorcycle.

JD was very safety conscious, always checking the oil, the tire pressure, the route maps and the weather forecast. He never complained about having to pack and balance my camera equipment, or the extra swag I bought at rallies. He always seemed to have a plan and was happy and easy going.

Since it was my first motorcycle experience I was asked to rate from 1-10 the danger I felt on a bike. I said “a 3 because there’s no seatbelt, I’m completely exposed and I can see the road zipping past from under me so I know there’s danger”

They responded with “wow, you must have had a good driver”

Yes, yes I did. JD was an excellent Sherpa. His experience was evident, I felt comfortable on his bike and I now insist that we continue to work on future video projects together. I have confidence in him and his operations. He is a fantastic tour operator.

Susan Graham (British Columbia, Canada)

I had the absolute pleasure of participating in the ‘Ride the Rockies + Best of BC’ tour earlier this month. We saw some very beautiful country and even some wild critters! The tour was well organized and it was really nice to have everything taken care of - route, breaks, meals, fuel and accommodation. We even had a support vehicle to help pack some of our luggage. Our tour hosts were friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. As a woman travelling solo, I felt safe. I would highly recommend Freedom Biker Tours as a way to see some spectacular places, do some spectacular riding and spend time with some spectacular people!!

Julie Heasman (Canada)

JD and Tim from Freedom Biker Tours put together a amazing 10 day tour. Was amazing to see such breath taking scenery! Made new friends and made new memories. Highly recommend attending one of the tours. My only suggestion is gas station at the end of the day so we can get out and enjoy the roads first thing.

Travis Bonner (Canada)

Just did the Ride the Rockies + Best of B.C tour. I must say what an awesome experience. Fun roads, great sites and some wicked riders from around the globe . A true all inclusive deal and well worth the money, the hosts where friendly, helpful and super knowledgeable about the area we rode through. 2 highlights for me were the visits to the ice on the Athabasca glacier and sunrise in the 6 floor penthouse suite overlooking Okanagan lake. I will be looking at doing another one if there tours. 5 stars Freedom Biker Tours.

Ride The Rockies + Best OF BC | 2023

Just completed the Ride the Rockies/Best of B.C tour and highly recommend it. The adventure was a unique experience with a great variety of locations, wicked roads, and top notch hospitality. Met some really awesome riders from around the globe and new friends for life.

Carmen Pelletier (Alberta, Canada)

I am now spoiled. Not having to worry was the greatest gift Freedom Biker Tours provided. This was a perfect way to experience the sights and smells of the uncaged Canadian Rockies and BC. The entire route was well mapped and planned out. All I did was show up and enjoy the ride. As a 5ft 107lbs girl I found so much security travelling with FBT tour group and really learned the meaning of 'brotherhood/sisterhood'. Each morning we discussed our anticipated routes and had fuel up check-ins where I learned more about the motorcycle that I anticipated. There were regular leg stretching sightseeing pit stops with an array of refreshments emerging from the support vehicle. After a full day of riding it was glorious to be given a key to a hotel room that was not just clean but upscale. Equally fabulous knowing that you had reservations for breakfast lunches and dinners with options to cater every picky eater. That said, one of my favourite was our 'Riders Retreat' glamping experience where Freedom Biker Tours surprised us with a live band and fully catered Steak BBQ to enjoy by the fire pit and converse with other riders staying at the campground. This is what I mean by spoiled, as you certainly experience the windfall of JD's many years in biker culture and tourism.

Howard Phillips (U.K.)

I was a little nervous about going on the tour, but after JD phoned me l was reassured by his genuine and personable manner and that he wanted everyone to have a great experience. The whole tour was very well organised with every detail thought through. There were many highlights on the tour, but a couple that stand out was the Cookout at the Biker’s campground with a live band, followed by the next day's ride on one of the world's top ten motorcycle roads, where everything came together and I felt at one with the bike. I just couldn't believe l was riding an awesome Harley on these spectacular Canadian roads. The hotels were great, especially at Lake Okanagan, we had dinner on the terrace with the sun going down behind the mountains across the Lake. The other riders were very friendly and helpful, especially when parking the bikes. With the backup support, everything ran very smoothly. It was one of my best holidays.

Motorcycle Tours and Shipping: Canada

Motorcycle tours in Canada are among the best two-wheeled experiences you can hope for in North America. Canada offers virtually unlimited mountain twisties, off-road riding, scenic roads in the Canadian Rockies, and stunning National Parks guaranteed to take your breath away. Places like Banff and Jasper National Park, Kootenay Lake area, and the awe-inspiring natural beauty of British Columbia are all on the menu when you’re riding motorcycles in Canada, and for the more adventurous, there are the remote Newfoundland and Labrador and the Trans Canadian Trail to explore. Canada is vast, wild, and wonderful, and you can spend months exploring this breathtaking corner of the world on your bike. Scenery aside, Canadians are known for their hospitality and friendliness, and whenever you need to rest up, recharge, and enjoy some urban comforts, Vancouver on the Pacific Coast and Toronto in the East are great places to discover. Modern and cosmopolitan in its cities, wild and untamed in its more remote lands like the Northwest Territories or Yukon, Canada is home to so much natural treasures, curious indigenous cultures, and incredible landscapes that you’ll want to come back and ride here over and over again. However, Canada is a large country, and it is simply impossible to see it all in one go, especially on a ten-day or two-week tour. Motorcycle shipping to Canada is a fairly popular route, so if you have some time to spare, riding your own might be a better option than going on a guided tour. Then again, a tour will save you time and efforts to research, plan, and prepare for your journey. So should you pick one of the guided motorcycle tours in Canada, or ship your own bike and travel independently?

Motorcycle Shipping in Canada vs Going on a Tour

Whether you should transport your own motorcycle or go on a motorbike tour in Canada depends on several factors: the time you have for your trip, the places you want to see, and your budget. Generally, if you plan to ride for at least two months or more, shipping motorcycles to Canada is a more economical option: the costs of shipping will be significantly lower than bike rental. Currently, there are several different ways to ship your bike to Canada: sea freight to Vancouver, or a more popular and faster option, air freight to Toronto. Choosing air freight for shipping motorcycles to Canada is the easiest way as the bikes are delivered within 24 hours as opposed to a month or more at sea; you can get on your flight, get off in Toronto, jump on your bike, and simply ride away. The same applies for your journey home: you don’t need to wait weeks for your motorcycle to be shipped back on a container ship. Riding your own motorcycle in Canada, you will have the freedom and the flexibility to explore as much as you like, travel on a bike you know well, and save on rental costs. On the other hand, if you don;t have much time, Canada motorcycle tours are a better option. Going on a guided tour, you won‘t have to worry about motorcycle shipping, routes, itineraries, or hotels bookings; the entire trip will be arranged for you, and you simply need to show up and ride. If this is your first time riding motorcycles in Canada, you‘ll appreciate having a knowledgeable guide to show you the best routes and the most scenic roads in the country. Guided motorcycle tours in Canada are designed to showcase the most breathtaking views, offer great stays and off-bike experiences, and make your journey more comfortable with pre-booked hotels.

Canada Motorcycle Tours: Highlights

Whether you’re planning your own adventures or shopping for motorcycle tours in Canada, some highlights in the country are must-see. When putting your itinerary together, make sure you include these incredible places on your list: Vancouver Situated on the Pacific Coast, Vancouver is an ideal starting point for motorcycle tours in North America. One of the most beloved cities in Canada, Vancouver offers excellent food and lodging options and makes for a great basecamp to explore British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies positioned right on its doorstep.Vancouver is also one of the most popular destinations for shipping motorcycles to Canada, so if you‘re considering riding your own, head for Vancouver and start the adventure of a lifetime. Kootenay Lake Kootenay Lake, the crown jewel of British Columbia, is a glacial fjord-like lake famous for its tranquil natural beauty. A stunning admiral blue lagoon surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the mountains, Kootenay Lake is a popular summer destination for holidaying Canadians and foreigners alike. Because of its spectacular surroundings, Kootenay Lake is a must-see on your motorcycle tour in Canada. Rocky Mountains Spanning the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, the Canadian Rockies are similar to the Rocky Mountains in the US. Jagged, ice-capped peaks, waterfalls, alpine lakes, and amazing wildlife abound here, and you can spend weeks riding the Rockies and enjoying the countless twisties along the way. Magnificent mountain views around every corner, tarmac roads in perfect condition and plenty of off-road riding for those who prefer dirt bikes are what makes the Canadian Rockies the ideal motorcycling destination in North America. Banff The unofficial capital of the Banff National Park, Banff itself is a popular resort town known for its exceptional hot springs and breathtaking mountain surroundings. Surrounded by the Cascade Mountain, Sulphur Mountain, and Norquay, Banff is a paradise for outdoors lovers, hikers, mountaineers, and motorcyclists: there’s no shortage of incredible roads here, and the town of Banff is a great place to stop and rest for a day or two. Toronto The capital of Ontario, Toronto is one of the world’s most cosmopolitan and multicultural cities famous for its arts, cultural life, and finance and business centres. If you and your riding buddies are shipping motorcycles to Canada by air freight, chances are, you’ll end up in Toronto, so make sure to explore the city before you set off on your Canadian adventure. Situated just eighty miles southwest of Toronto in the direction of Detroit on the American side are the world-famous Niagara Falls you can see from the saddle fo your motorcycle: simply leave the bike in a nearby parking lot and walk over to the viewpoint to take in the view of the turbulent cascades falling down the cliffs. If you have the time, boat trips are available to bring you closer to the falls.

Practical Information for Touring Canada

Canada is an excellent motorcycling destination for late spring, summer, and early fall. The weather here remains mild, but do pack some warmer layers and gear up in a four-season jacket and pants if you‘re headed for the Rockies: at higher altitude, the temperatures are cooler, even in the summer months. Canada uses the Canadian dollar as its currency and is among the more expensive countries to travel, unless you plan to camp and cook your own meals. Expect to spend $100-$150 a day on your food, fuel, and accommodation. However, if you go on a guided motorcycle tour of Canada, most of these expenses will be included in the tour package. Canada is a very safe country to travel, but do watch out for wildlife in the more remote areas and mountains, especially when camping. Curious brown and black bears may pay you a visit if you don‘t store your food away! When it comes to motorcycle choices for Canada, you cannot go wrong. Large capacity tourers, cruisers, and adventure bikes are all suited for Canadian roads, so pic what you love and ride with confidence. If you intend to explore the Trans Canada Trail by motorcycle, pick a lighter, smaller dual sport or dirt bike. Still unsure which motorcycle tour in Canada would be best for you? Six great motorcycle roads in Canada

In part 2 of Wayne Hamm's Canadian Goldwing Adventure series, he shares six of the most memorable motorcycle routes

I’m still shaking my head in amazement; 18,000 kilometres, all the planning and it’s over. It is difficult to describe in just a few short pages the beauty of Canada and to express my enjoyment on so many different levels, on so many different roads.

It had been mid-June and I had been excited to head to Vancouver Island, B.C., to visit my daughter, our newest grandbaby and my son-in-law. To change it up, rather than just head west from Edmonton, Alberta, I rode south to the Crowsnest Pass, then westerly through Sparwood and Fernie, British Columbia, with a stop to see the folks with RidersWest in Cranbrook.

The trip westerly through the mountain passes was, at times, breathtaking. The descent through the twisties into the valley floor below to Osoyoos—with Lake Osoyoos and its orchards and wineries—was certainly memorable. Reportedly, Osoyoos is the only desert in Canada.

Westerly, after Osoyoos and back into the mountain passes again, I saw the temperature plummet from 10 C to 4 C. At one place, a large tree had fallen and was blocking both eastbound lanes. The lakes were still ice-covered, and I was treated to fresh falling snow.

After I left the mountains, though, the ride was summer all the way to the Vancouver Island Ferry at Tsawwassen, B.C.

The following are six of the most memorable routes I travelled. They are listed in the order they unfolded during my adventure, not in order of preference.

1. Pacific Rim Highway (B.C. Highway 4), Vancouver Island

To coin a phrase used by the locals on Vancouver Island, my son-in-law, Kirby (who I had picked up in Victoria), and I headed “up Island” towards Nanaimo. Our goal was Tofino, well-known for camping, surfing and many other outdoor activities.

B.C. Highway 4, west of Port Alberni, is known as the Pacific Rim Highway. This section became more interesting the further west we rode. It was full of twisties, blind corners, climbs and descents, and the forests towered over us and often blocked out the sun.

The ride through Sutton Pass was notable and it gave us a quick peak at a snow-covered mountaintop. When we neared the junction for Ucluelet and Tofino, we could smell and taste the salty air off the ocean. There was more than ample camping and numerous wooded walking trails there, allowing us to explore the beaches. I later learned, while at a food truck in Tofino, that the huge trees towering over us were Douglas firs.

We doubled back to Vancouver on Highway 4, and again the ride was a treat.

2. The Sea-to-Sky Highway (B.C. Highway 99)

The ferry ride from Nanaimo to mainland B.C. was very scenic and relaxing. After the ferry docked in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver, and within mere minutes and without traffic hassles, I went north on the Sea-to-Sky Highway—aptly named due to its climbs, descents and ocean and mountain views.

There were snow-covered peaks when I was there, and in some ditches, mounds of leftover snow from winter slides. The road snakes through Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton and then through semi-arid Lillooet.

Between Pemberton and Lillooet, the road is at its best. The twisties, descents and 20-kilometre per hour hairpins were welcomed. You know you are on a road made for motorcycles when there is an abundance of brake check pullouts, runaway lanes and the smell of burned brakes in the air!

3. Alberta Highway 55 to Kenora, Ontario, via Saskatchewan Highway 106 and Manitoba highways 39, 6, 68, 9 and 44

(This route included a portion of the Northern Woods and Water Route, and it allowed me to enjoy northern Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba.)

My goal for this trip was to ride the roads less travelled whenever possible. I headed northeast from Edmonton towards Cold Lake, Alberta, where I would connect with Highway 55. It didn’t take long to escape the hurried and frustrating stop-and-go traffic. The scenery initially was prairie-like with the sweet smell and eye-catching yellow of early canola crops and the smell of fresh-cut grass that I suspected was drying hay.

As I neared Cold Lake, the scenery became more forest-like. From Cold Lake, I headed south on Highway 28, reconnected with Highway 55 and headed east along what is known as the Northern Woods and Water Route. At that point, the tailgaters were gone, the road was practically deserted and I was able to sit back, enjoy the scenery and cruise well below the posted speed, all the while smiling out loud.

If you travel this route, you will likely find yourself relaxed and, like me, alone in your thoughts with a realization of what is really important. Eventually, I turned off Highway 55 and headed north along Saskatchewan Highway 106. Along the way, I made note of a sign at Smeaton, Saskatchewan, that stated "Where the North Begins." Here, I was treated to the sight of many lakes, a high water table with its enjoyable smells and lots of wildlife (including deer, bear, geese and turkey vultures). Then, like the flick of a switch, there was a transition from the lushness of the water and forests to rock and mining near Flin Flon, Manitoba.

From Flin Flon, I headed east on Manitoba Highway 39 towards Ponton, then turned south on Highway 6 and went through Grand Rapids, passing by Lake Winnipeg and eventually reaching Gimli. The Gimli Glider of many years ago is worth a Google search.

I escaped the Winnipeg traffic by heading east on Highway 44 through a delightful road full of twisties and lake views. I passed through West Hawk Lake and Falcon Lake before I entered Ontario just west of Kenora.

There are important factors to consider if you choose to ride this route. One is to be sure your ride is well maintained and you have gear for all conditions. The fuel stops and accommodations are sparse, and there are sections of gravel. I dodged the gravel merely by researching the route—so do your homework. (Thank you to Riverside Honda & Ski-Doo  in St. Albert, Alberta, for tweaking my baby and even giving her a bath before I embarked.)

4. Ontario Highway 11 to Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, via Quebec Highway 117 and Quebec Highway 158

(East of Thunder Bay, Ontario, I took Ontario Highway 11 at Nipigon and continued east to Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Entering Quebec east of Kirkland Lake on Quebec Highway 117, I continued southeast on Quebec Highway 117 until St. Jerome, Quebec. To avoid the rigours of the Montreal traffic, I headed east on Quebec Highway 158 and crossed the St. Lawrence River at Trois-Rivieres.)

My idea of motorcycling is to not compete with countless cars and trucks on some multi-lane highway. Ontario and Quebec are huge provinces with major centres, such as Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. I managed to avoid all the stresses and dangers of fast-moving heavy city traffic by taking the above route.

As I neared Kirkland Lake and entered Quebec, I was intrigued as I passed by several active gold mines. The ride southeast in Quebec on Highway 117 was very relaxing and enjoyable, and traffic was sparse. East of Val-d’or, I passed through a vast wilderness with countless lakes and dozens of primitive tent sites in one of which I pitched a tent for the night.

I travelled through several quaint communities, such as Louvicourt, Mont-Laurier, and Mont-Tremblant. Mont-Tremblant is a popular ski resort in the Laurentian Mountains and reportedly hosts even the rich and famous from Hollywood. Its idle ski lifts could be seen off in the distance as I passed. The ride across the vast St. Lawrence River at Trois-Rivieres was a breeze.

5. The Confederation Bridge

The Confederation Bridge is of special interest to me. It spans the Northumberland Strait and links my home province of Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. At 12.9 kilometres long, it is reportedly the longest bridge in the world crossing over ice-covered waters. Also called the “Fixed Link” by some, the bridge curves and arches upward and is truly a marvel to see.

The beauty seems even more pronounced from the seat of a motorcycle. The smell of the salt air, view of P.E.I., and the local fishing boats were inspiring.

6. Twillingate, Newfoundland, via Highway 320 and Highway 330

(From the town of Gambo, Newfoundland, I followed Highway 320 north and headed northwest on Highway 330 and rode towards Musgrave Harbour. Then I went towards Gander Bay and continued northwest towards Twillingate, Newfoundland.)

This ride hugged the coastline and passed by many quaint fishing villages, with endless views of the Atlantic Ocean, and traffic was almost non-existent. We tented near Musgrave Harbour within spitting distance of the ocean, and the sounds of the waves lapping at the shoreline lulled us to sleep. As we neared Twillingate, which is known as the Iceberg Capital of the World, we noted eye-catching signage to places such as Herring Neck and Crow Head.

Twillingate itself is a small island and did not disappoint us. We watched several icebergs that were close enough to us that we could hear them crackling and falling apart.

This brief writing highlighting Twillingate cannot begin to portray the beauty and the sightseeing opportunities available on The Island of Newfoundland. There are likely hundreds, perhaps thousands, of roads that hug its beautiful coastline.

Stay tuned for a wrap-up of this adventure. It was life-changing, but it wasn’t all perfect. Mother Nature had her way with us on several occasions!

Hello Wil and Erin. Just a short note to thank you for the ‘BEST VACATION EVER’. Both Brian and Andy were exceptionally professional and it is fair to say that that trip would not have been as good without the professional and friendly banter between the group and the guides. They were well able to cater for the differences in the group and this aided the holiday. The locations, lodgings and roads traveled matched and, sometimes, exceeded our expectations. The steep mountain passes through the Rocky Mountains and the roads through the stunning scenery actually require just one thing: to be ascended with the Harley-Davidson. Arriving in the Rockies a panorama like no other awaits you. The most imposing mountains of the Rocky Mountains are 2,000 to 3,000 meters high. On the American side the Mount Elbert with 4.401 meters is the highest elevation, on the Canadian side the Mount Robson with 3.954 meters excels all elevations of the Rocky Mountains in height meters.

In addition to the fabulous view, one thing is of great importance for the Harley-Davidson biker on the Reuthers Canada Round Trip: The elaborate routing, which lets the ride become an event. So, of course the route from Revelstoke to Nelson is an integral part in Reuthers Canada Round Trip.

The Reuthers Canada Tour - Experience Nature in addition to Cruising

Of course, cruising is in the foreground, but in addition to the fun, other means of transportation can be applied: So a truly adventurous boat tour in Jasper National Park is on the agenda. Also a highlight in connection with the element of water are the Sunwapta Falls, the Althabasca Falls and the same named glacier. The Maligne Lake, which is visited during the Reuthers Canada Round Trip, is the deepest lake in the park.

By the way: In Canada it can be pretty wild. On the one hand because the region around Vancouver is suited for whale watching, on the other hand, because the national parks are home to many animals that are protected and yet sometimes watch shyly through the tree tops. The most famous animal inhabitant of Canada is probably the Grizzly. There are approximately 50,000 brown giants today. Most of them live in the USA in the Yellowstone National Park, in Canadas British Columbia and in Alaska But moose and reindeer also call the Canadian National Parks their home.

On the Reuthers Canada Round Trip there's also something for Fans of History

And because the history of Canada is almost inextricably linked to the transcontinental railway, this important historical part can be experienced first hand in the Revelstoke railway museum. The museum lies at an important railroad junction and provides an insight into the Canadian history of railroad traffic. A snow plow also belongs to every Canadian station and joins the ranks of freight wagons of steel and wood.

Just as significant is the history of the Canadian gold miners. The participants visit two typical mining towns, Cache Creek and Fort Steele. Even today there are locals and tourists, who still believe in the big find.

Ride the tightest turns in Ontario

  • Ride Canada's tail of the dragon

On this page

Ontario bucket list motorcycle tour routes.

If you're riding into Northern Ontario, the essential riding routes on this list cannot be missed.

For sure, you'll want to test your skills on Canada's version of the Tail of the Dragon , tackle a ton of twisties on little-known Country Road 8 , and blaze through a billion-year old canyon. But whatever you do, trust us: you'll have serious FOMO if you don't eat the world's biggest (and best) pierogi .

Probably the most well-known roadside attraction in Canada is Wawa's Canada Goose . Replaced at least three times, this massive sculpture is the reason everyone driving across Canada stops in Wawa—that, and the pickle fudge down the road at Young's General Store .

But seriously, ride your bike up, get a pic and post it on your social media. You'll get tons of comments from people who've "been there," and even more from people who want to know "where is that?"

Eat Ontario's largest (and best) pierogi

Perched high atop Ontario's Highlands is the oldest Polish settlement in the province, and in that settlement is the Wilno Tavern , home to the largest (and tastiest) pierogi in the land. About the size of a closed fist, the pierogies aren't the only reason to come to this renowned place.

The band nights show off the local talent (and there's plenty in these parts) but all of the food, from cabbage rolls to sauerkraut, is deeply satisfying.

  • Region: Haliburton Highlands to the Ottawa Valley

Only a 20-minute ride out of Thunder Bay , on the Ride Lake Superior route is Kakabeka Falls , the so-called Niagara of the North. While it's not as wide as Niagara Falls, more water pours over its crest per hour, and it's definitely less crowded. You can get up close and personal here too, with minimum effort. There's a bridge that goes right over the crest, and the parking lot is a two-minute walk from there.

  • Routes: Ride Lake Superior
  • Region: Northwest Ontario

Pijitawabik Palisades just north of Nipigon is definitely the route less taken, but not for lack of spectacular scenery. If you feel like it, the hike up is 500 feet, but we're happy to stay on the ground and enjoy the massive cliffs on either side as we cruise through. You might want to stop and do it twice.

The Ganaraska Forest is a multi-use wilderness that is home to some of Ontario's favourite off-road motorcycle trails. Known by riders throughout the province as the most welcoming and entertaining trails within a stone's throw of the US border, the Ganny (as it's known to locals) is truly a bucket list off-road riding destination. If you're not bringing a dirt or adventure bike, link up with Trail Tours they'll get you sorted with bikes, training, and gear. A day pass is only $30, so get them while they're hot!

  • Route: Three Motorcycle Routes in the Kawarthas
  • Region: Kawarthas & Northumberland
  • Related Reading: Riding the Dirt Trails of Ganaraska

Probably Ontario's most infamous riding road, the Calabogie Road is known for its great pavement and unending twists and turns that roll up and down the generous (and rapid) elevation changes in this hilliest part of the province. There's no badge for completing the road (yet), but you'll understand why Ride the Highlands are Ontario's best riding roads—and it all starts on the Calabogie.

  • Related Reading: Take A Boogie on the 'Bogie

Ferry Your bike on the world's largest canoe

Technically, this is a massive ferry, but the MS Chi-Cheemaun's name translates from the Ojibwe to mean 'Big Canoe'. It connects riders to two routes—the Manitoulin Island Tour and the Georgian Bay Coastal Route . Motorcycles here are first on and first off, and there's something magic about pulling off from the massive front opening of this ferry when it docks on the world's largest freshwater island—home of the only roads in Ontario with banked corners.

  • Routes: Georgian Bay Coastal Route & Manitoulin Island Tour
  • Region: Bruce Grey & Simcoe , Northeastern Ontario
  • Related Reading: Around Georgian Bay Your Way

Ontario's ultimate bucket list ride

If there's one motorcycle route you need to ride in Ontario, Canada, it's Ride Lake Superior . Clocking in at over 1,400 miles, this route runs through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ontario with absolutely wild changes in scenery. From lakeside sub-arctic dunes, to craggy rock cuts, to towering red soil rifts—all framed by the massive expanse of the world's largest freshwater lake. Give yourself at least a week, and enjoy every minute.

  • Regions: Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma , Northwest Ontario
  • Related Reading: A 2,000 km Beast—The Lake Superior Circle Tour

A lot of people love to talk about the Forks of the Credit for its hairpin turn, but the truth is there's a tighter, and more scenic turn in Ontario, and it's one that every rider should enjoy—especially since the locals around the Credit are getting a bit tired of bikes riding by all day. County Road 8 west of Westport, around Wolfe Lake presents itself at the bottom of a hill, and then exits heading up another looking over the lake. It's banked ever so slightly, and is part of some great riding routes on Ride the Highlands, so you know you'll find something cool to ride shortly after it.

  • Related Reading: A Motorcycle Route for Two—The Rideau Ridge Loop

Ride Canada's tail of the dragon

In the heart of Ontario's Algoma region is one of our favourite roads—and a legendary number associated with it: 129.

While it has the same number as that infamous highway south of the border, it's not really the same thing as the Tail of the Dragon. For one, Ontario's Highway 129 is way less busy—you can actually appreciate the curves here. And there are plenty, although they start off with a slow series of sweepers, they escalate into 10 minutes of aggressive up-and-down and side-to-side before smoothing out again. While it's not as white-knuckle as the North Carolina road, it's a wonderful kind of fun and the scenery can't be beat, as much of the road is followed by river, lakes, or cliffs.

ADV Touring By Region: Best Routes In Canada

ADV Touring By Region: Best Routes In Canada

With a total area of nearly 10 million square kilometers (or 6.2 million miles), Canada is the second largest country in the world by land mass.

For a country that big, it’s no surprise that Canada is also an adventure rider’s paradise. When you think about it, only a small percentage of Canada has actually been developed – which leaves the rest of the land open to adventure touring (within reason, of course).

What makes Canada great from an adventure touring standpoint is that there are likely still routes that have yet to be discovered.

However, we’ve put together a few here that will satisfy even the most discerning rider. In fact, this list only has three entries.

Why so few? Because, as you’ll see, each of these entries can be broken up in to sections, each providing a spectacular ride on its own. When put together, they make up a truly incredible ride.

So, if you’re wondering where to go on an adventure ride in Canada, read on.

Trans Canada Adventure Trail

The Trans Canada Adventure Trail takes the already long Trans Canada Adventure Highway – which spans 5,000 miles and crosses all 10 Canadian provinces – and makes it even longer by nearly doubling it in length.

How? By avoiding paved roads and major cities whenever possible. Here you’ll find all kinds of terrain, which also means you’re in store for some epic riding and enjoying parts of Canada you won’t find in a guidebook.

With that in mind, it’s worth pointing out that there will be times when you’ll be in desolate areas with few people. So keep fuel stops in mind and a tool kit handy, just in case. For the most part, however, you won’t be far from civilization.

The trail can be broken down into six sections which loosely take you through the six largest provinces from east to west. You can tackle individual sections of course, or you can take on the whole thing – be sure to budget enough time either way you choose, as the sights and sounds you’ll experience will be incredible.

Ultimate Canada Route

If you want to stick to the west side of Canada, the Ultimate Canada Route packs in some epic riding over the course of about 1,600 miles.

Vancouver is both your start and end point and along the way you’ll traverse parts of the Gold Rush trail and makes stops in Banff, Lake Louise, the Kamloops, the Rockies, and the Icefields Parkway.

Like the Trans Canada Adventure Trail, the Ultimate Canada Route can be taken in all at once (budget about two weeks for that), or broken up into segments that range anywhere from 100 miles to nearly 300 miles.

Mount Robson in Canadian Rockies is a sight for adventure riders

If you have to single out only one specific section to ride, then the route from Banff to Mount Robson would be it. It’s 235 miles and includes riding through the Icefields Parkway before heading up to Mount Robson – the highest point in the Canadian Rockies.

  • Vancouver Island

For the truly skilled and adventure-bound riders among us, Vancouver Island awaits. If you take a look at a map of Vancouver Island, you’ll notice it only has one main road, Highway 19.

You’ll also notice it’s on the eastern edge of the island. This makes sense since most of the population lives on the eastern edge of the island, but it also begs the question: What’s over on the west side?

The answer is miles and miles of virtually untapped adventure riding opportunities. There are towns and villages on the west, but they are very small and have only the bare minimum when it comes to amenities. And even that might be a stretch.

However, what these small villages and towns do have are seemingly endless amounts of dirt roads leading to them. Well, technically you’ll find both hard and loose dirt, along with gravel and black sand. Simply put, it’s paradise.

However, be forewarned. Western Vancouver Island is sparsely populated. Be prepared to fix your own motorcycle if something were to happen.

It’s also wise to bring a spare jug of fuel because sometimes the gas stations in town will run out! It can be barren and desolate – and that’s what makes Vancouver Island paradise for the hardcore ADV rider.

If all you see are three destinations above, then you clearly haven’t explored those three destinations hard enough. Canada is full of excellent riding for the adventure touring rider, and between these three destinations you’re sure to find a part of the country that will truly take your breath away.

Canada motorcycle travel

Covering both of Canada’s coastlines, these trails should fill your adventure bucket and have you rushing to come back for more.

Then again, as Vancouver Island demonstrates, there are still portions of the country open to further exploration by the adventure junkie among us. The north is calling, and it’s not for the faint of heart. Wherever you go, enjoy all the beauty Canada has to offer.

A group riding motorcycles

See what people have to say about one of Jasper's top 10 activities!

Rob our driver was excellent. We had fun dressing up in the leathers and headed out on a beautiful crisp sunny morning, waving to everybody we went. It was great to sight see with the wind in your face smelling the pine trees. We headed out to Maligne lake and canyon. It was so comfortable with heated vests and my partner found the side car was brilliant for using the gopro and comfortable even for his 6 foot, on the wide side frame. Great fun and a great time.

Been there with my husband during our honeymoon in Alberta. It’s been the best experience we could have had in Jasper. The tour we booked unfortunately was not available due to road closures but our super biker Rob took us for an alternative not standard tour. During the two-hours ride we had the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the Canadian Rockies, learnt some facts about the place and saw a big black bear. We would like to thank Rob for been very friendly and fun. We highly recommend this tours.

AMAZING!! My husband and I had never been on a bike before and went on the 3 hour tour, it was the best and most fun activity we did on our honeymoon, we saw wildlife, beautiful lakes, canyon and Rob was incredible made us laugh so much and put us at ease and has great knowledge of area and where to see wildlife, best way to see around Jasper, it is a must!! It is so fun, so safe and the best thing we done! Team are Great getting kitted and Rob was amazing taking us around!

Had a fantastic trip out with Stanley on motorcycle and sidecar. We were picked up from our hotel and taken downtown to be fitted out with chaps and jackets, heated vests and gloves, kept us warm and the rain/snow stayed away. Amazing scenery and plenty of wildlife to see. We will definitely book with Jasper motorcycles again when in Jasper next. If you want a fun filled adventure a trip out with these guys is a must. Stanley was great, really informative and took us out to places we wouldn't have gone to/found on our own.

Living in Toronto and the GTA doesn’t provide many options for epic motorcycle rides. Riding in the city is dangerous so many of us like to hit the scenic country roads nearby.

Unfortunately, with traffic and suburban sprawl, you’re looking at at least an hour of riding to get anywhere worth it.

In this post, I want to share some of the best motorcycle day trips from Toronto you can take. These day trips and scenic routes are perfect for weekend rides or exploring on your day off.

The goal is to get you out of the city quickly. This way you can start enjoying some beautiful landscapes and better roads.

For the shortest of these motorcycle day trips from Toronto you’re looking at spending at least three to four hours on the bike. Some of the longer day trips can be combined with an overnight stay for a different riding experience. With that in mind, let’s jump right into it!

Motorcycle Day Trips From Toronto

Forks of the credit motorcycle route (2 hours | 150km).

Topping our list of the most scenic motorcycle day trips from Toronto is the Forks of the Credit ride. This easy cruise takes you to the roads in and around the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park. From downtown Toronto it’s a short and quick 70KM ride. On Sundays, without traffic, you can make it in under an hour.

The best strategy is to take the highway straight to Forks of the Credit . Then, after hitting the twisties for half an hour or so through the park, make your way back to Toronto.

Instead of the highway, stick to the secondary roads and explore the small towns along the way. If you have the time, stop by and check out the Cheltenham Badlands . This is a unique and interesting geological formation nearby.

From Forks you can head North and cruise around Orangeville, Caledon, and even up to Collingwood. Heading west will bring you towards Burlington and Hamilton where you can rip the locally-famous Snake Road. All around the area are quiet, country roads waiting to be explored.

Forks of the Credit will get busy on the weekends, especially in the afternoons. Motorcyclists and car enthusiasts flock to the area for the hairpin turns and beautiful scenery. Try to arrive early to avoid the crowds and to enjoy the road all to yourself. The Forks of the Credit motorcycle route is easy to follow. Any of the roads leading into the park are scenic and ideal for riding.

Hamilton & Halton Region (2 hours | 150km)

Believe it or not, there are some great scenic motorcycle rides in Hamilton . Just an hour away depending on traffic, the Hamilton and Halton region makes for a great motorcycle day trip from Toronto.

Starting with Snake Road in Burlington/Waterdown, it’s possible to cruise the back roads around the entire city. There are some twisties, long sweepers, and beautiful views from the Niagara Escarpment that you can enjoy.

On weekends, Hamilton and the surrounding areas are fairly quiet. Most people are getting their shopping done or hanging out at home. This leaves the country and back roads open and ready for you to explore.

Check out the guide linked above for a more in-depth look at the scenic roads through the area. Don’t forget to visit the Steeltown Garage , Hamilton’s very own motorcycle cafe.

Coming back from Hamilton, consider taking Lakeshore until you get to Mississauga. It’s a peaceful, scenic ride along the lake through a number of smaller towns. Alternatively, Highway 5 is another option that’s not as fast paced as the 400-series.

Ride the Edge in the Ontario Highlands Small Loop (4 hours | 400km)

This Toronto motorcycle day trip can take up to 700km of riding to complete. You’ll definitely want to leave early to take full advantage of all the beauty in the areas you’ll be riding through.

The highlight of this route is the “Small Loop” section of the Ride the Edge scenic route in Gravenhurst/Muskoka. With all of the incredible scenery and photo opportunities this can be a day trip you could easily turn into an overnighter on the bike.

Check out this in-depth guide with a map from Explorers Edge for more information on this route.

Coming from Toronto, you’ll want to start this loop in either Gravenhurst or Haliburton. Reaching either town, get off the bike for a few minutes and stretch. With such beautiful roads you won’t want to get off after you start riding.

Along the Small Loop you’ll ride through some of the most beautiful small towns in near-northern Ontario. These include Port Carling, Rosseau, Parry Sound, Magnetawan, and Huntsville. For a day ride you’ll be pressed for time, but it’s worth stopping in many of these places to look around.

This scenic route is best done during the fall with the spectacular fall colours in Ontario. Don’t forget to set up your heated grips beforehand to keep your hands warm!

Tobermory – Grey & Bruce County (7 hours | 600km)

This is going to be one of the longer motorcycle day trips from Toronto. You’re looking at a round trip of at least 600+km getting to and from Tobermory. This can range up to 1000km depending on the route you take and any side roads you explore.

Many riders will find 600-1000km of riding in a day to be impossible. That’s why this can make a great overnight or multi-day trip.

Otherwise, it’s doable if you leave early in the morning and stick to the main roads getting there. Taking the secondary roads on your way back is easier riding and will leave you with better scenery.

I spent a few days exploring Tobermory and Bruce County. You can check out my trip report here for more information. There’s also a helpful website, Ride Grey Bruce , with scenic routes and even more information on cruising the area.

The ride to Tobermory from Toronto follows the old colonization roads that were built into the Bruce Peninsula. Along the way are countless small towns and a seemingly endless amount of farmland. Some of the places worth stopping include Shelburne, Walkerton, Paisley, Wiarton, Lion’s Head, and Tobermory itself.

Don’t expect to find jaw dropping twisties or countless sweepers. This is more of a scenic, relaxed ride hop into the Bruce Peninsula. I recommend checking out Highway 1 as its hugs the shores of Georgian Bay and Highway 9 as it snakes its way into Lions Head.

Cruise the Lake Erie Coast (6 hours | 500km)

Just a few hours away from Toronto is the lovely little coastal town of Port Dover. Canadian Riders will be familiar with Port Dover as it’s home to one of the biggest Ontario motorcycle events – Friday the 13th. From Port Dover it’s a peaceful cruise along Lake Erie where you can check out a number of other small coastal towns.

The best strategy is to take the highway to Hamilton. From Hamilton, follow Highway 6 as it makes its way into Port Dover. Leaving Port Dover, continue to follow the coast. Some of the other towns worth stopping in include Port Rowan, Port Burwell, and Port Stanley. Getting back home is easy – hop on the 401 and follow the 403 back to downtown.

In these small towns you’ll find countless local shops, lovely restaurants, and incredible scenery along the lake. The roads are well-maintained and during the summer you’ll see plenty of other riders out and about.

For more information you can visit the Cruise the Coast website . This site showcases all of the main attractions and motorcycle routes on Ontario’s “south coast”. You can also check out the Ontario’s Southwest Motorcycle Guide . This site has a number of recommended routes that are ready to be explored.

Port Dalhousie to Fort Erie Via Niagara-on-the-Lake (4.5 hours | 400km)

One of my favourite motorcycle rides from Toronto is the loop around the Niagara Peninsula. This scenic ride is made even easier thanks to the 400 series highways that will whisk riders all the way to Port Dalhousie. Getting off at Port Dalhousie, the highway can be avoided all the way to Fort Erie.

Along the way this route passes through the beautiful small town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. There’s also the world’s famous Niagara Falls, where you can stop and look around or grab something to eat. Fort Erie is the best place to end this ride before getting back on the highway.

Alternatively, you can continue onwards and follow the Lake Erie Coast. Or, turn around and go back the way you came for a different riding experience.

What makes this route to such a scenic ride is the Niagara River Parkway . This is one of Ontario’s most scenic roads, especially during the fall with the picturesque colours and cooler weather. the parkway stretches for more than 55 km as it follows the Niagara River between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Fort Erie.

For its entirety the Niagara River Parkway is a two-lane, low traffic scenic road. There are jaw-dropping views of the Niagara River, Niagara Falls, and beautiful scenery along the entire way. This route is easy to reach from Toronto and most other locations in the GTA.

For the best experience, try arriving early in the day. The parkway can get busy on weekends, especially in the late afternoon with all the tourists and tour buses.

There are countless historic sites, local shops, and places to eat on the entire route. Don’t hesitate to overtake any slow-moving vehicles and remember to follow the speed limit. Check out my post on the most scenic rides in the Niagara region for more routes and ride ideas.

Algonquin Park Loop (6.5 hours | 600km)

Leaving from Toronto, it’s a relatively easy and scenic ride up to Algonquin Park. This is a great day trip, especially with the fall colours out in full force.

For this route, it’s a good idea to get an early start. This lets you get to Algonquin Park quickly so you can take your time on the scenic route back home.

The best way to start this ride is by taking Highway 400 North up to Highway 11 North. From here, follow 11 through the towns of Orillia, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and Huntsville.

There are some great places to stop along the way , including unique restaurants, cafes, and bakeries. Once you reach Huntsville, hop onto Highway 60 as it winds its way through the park.

The ride through Algonquin Park is incredibly scenic. Don’t forget to stop at the Visitor Center halfway through your route for a bathroom break.

After leaving the park, take Highway 35 South as far back towards Toronto as you want. This highway is even more scenic than the road through Algonquin, with less traffic as an added benefit.

Exploring Prince Edward County

Not too far from Toronto is the beautiful Prince Edward County . This is an easy, scenic ride along Lake Ontario that’s full of small towns, beaches, wineries, and great food.

Getting to Prince Edward County from Toronto is simple. Take the highway until Port Hope, where you can connect with Highway 2.

This is a historic, scenic highway that follows Lake Ontario all the way to Prince Edward County. Along the way there are some interesting stops, such as the small towns of Colborne, Brighton, and the unique Presqu’ile Provincial Park.

After getting to Prince Edward County, it’s yours to explore. Some of the highlights include Glenora with its Lake on the Mountain , the Picton old town, and Sandbanks Provincial Park.

The area is also covered in wineries, giving you a number of options where you can stop for a relaxing and delicious lunch. After cruising Prince Edward County you could stop for dinner in Belleville before heading on the highway back home.

The new BMW R 1300 GS replaces the legendary BMW R 1250 GS with a new motor, frame, and electronics suite, including radar-assisted cruise control and blind spot detection, front collision warning, 6.5-inch TFT dash, and many other features. The R 1300 GS will only arrive in January 2024, and it's a claimed 26 lb lighter than the old 1250.

Powering the most-powerful BMW GS model ever is a new flat-twin pumping out 145 hp at 7750 rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 6500 rpm, and utilizing BMW's long-held ShiftCam variable valve timing system, making it the most powerful boxer motor to come from BMW. Needless to say, the big GS continues to be a hot favorite for long-distance riding on the tarmac and excels in the occasional off-road duty as well.
