Naomi Boutique Kosher Tours Kosher Summer Vacations in Tuscany, Italy

Naomi Boutique Kosher Tours Kosher Summer Vacations in Tuscany, Italy

Naomi boutique kosher tours, summer vacations in tuscany, italy.

Thursday June 9th

Meeting point: Rome Airport Hilton Hotel: Shacharit 08.30, kosher breakfast 09.00, depart 10.00

There are flights that arrive early from NY and TLV early morning, but please see note below re arriving the day before.

If you would like to come to Rome or Venice for the Shabbat before, we are happy to advise you where to stay and eat, and where to visit!!

Our first stop…. Pitigliano: “little Jerusalem”

This striking cliff-top village was until the 1930’s home to a small thriving Jewish community. We’ll visit the former ghetto with its synagogue and museum and have lunch in a bar on the main square. It’s probably the perfect way to experience Tuscany for the first time: quaint, gorgeous and enriched by its Jewish story.

Dinner in our  Villa near Lucca

Friday June 10th

The drive to  Barga  will help one understand the beauty of the region. We stop to see the famous Devil’s bridge, and climb up to this medieval mountain top village where time has stood still for hundreds of years. We’ll climb the winding narrow streets to the duomo at the top of the village to breathe the clean air and enjoy the 360º panorama – the stuff of dreams!! On the way back we’ll stop at  Villa Torrigiani The region is famous for its aristocratic villas. This is one of the most interesting as we’ll be able to tour both inside the villa and tour the gardens. We’ll also get a glimpse of the life of the once-wealthy!!

Lucca  – the overview – by bicycle or on foot You’ll feel 16 when you bike on the wide walls and thru the town; take a stroll thru 99 piazzas or just people-watch in a café where the “tab” is always open for our guests – please be back for Shabbat!!

Shabbat June 11th

Shabbat on a Naomi tour is always a little different: we push the envelope and try to include as much of a local experience as Hilchot Shabbat will allow….

Sunday June 12th

There is an option to start the day (very early) with a balloon ride over the rolling Chianti hills.

We’ll see the Statue of David, the cathedral (duomo), Piazza della Repubblica, Ponte Vecchio and visit the famous synagogue

After lunch in town, there’s time to follow your personal preferences in Florence.

If you wish to visit the Uffizi Gallery you should pre-book. Otherwise you can explore this gorgeous city in greater depth according to your interests, visiting palaces, museums and galleries, the leather market and stores.

Monday June 13th

A hands-on cooking experience with our Tuscan chef that everyone will love. Tuscan cooking is simple and honest, without frills. No heavy sauces, liters of olive oil are used: as salad dressing, poured over bread and in soups and stews. Beans are a staple. Sage, rosemary and basil are the main herbs.

For lunch – you’ll (also) eat what you made!!!

The afternoon will be in  Lucca , wandering from piazza to piazza, sipping coffee and enjoying gelato. There are cycling and other options of what to do. Fancy an ATV experience? – now’s your chance!! We’ll end the day with a one hour Puccini concert of arias. Puccini is the favourite son of Lucca. After dinner back in the Villa…. we’re off to the most photographed building in the country…..  Pisa

No trip would be complete without seeing the tower – at night the day-trippers and souvenir vendors are gone; Jewish Pisa is also featured – surprise!!!!

Tuesday, June 14th

We’ll visit the famous Piazza del Campo, home of the Palio horse race, the beautiful synagogue, and, if we are lucky, meet one of the community’s leaders; there is time to wander around this iconic bustling ancient city

Agriturismo & Kosher Winery

You must visit an Agriturismo – a uniquely Italian concept. This one is home to a winery which is kosher in its entirety: Terra di Seta. After a wine-tasting aperitif we’ll enjoy our lunch while looking out over the gorgeous view

San Gimignano  – the Manhattan of Tuscany

Take your time – to explore the famous city of towers, climb to the top for the incredible views, visit the stores, enjoy a coffee, take lots of photos……..

Wednesday, June 15th

Forte dei Marmi Tuscany’s most elegant seaside resort has a great weekly country textile market.

Hike the Cinque Terre

For years one of the highlights of this tour – a 2-hour somewhat challenging hike overlooking the sea. A bus and a train will bring us to Corniglia where we start, hiking to Vernazza and then taking a train back.

Thursday, June 16th

After breakfast, we’ll take you to Pisa or Florence airport or train station for the start of your home-bound journey.

We will be pleased to help you arrange flights and insurance. If you wish to spend time before or after the trip in Venice or Rome we are happy to help make the arrangements for hotels, guides and food.

NAOMI TOURS

FINE EVENTS

Extensive takeout menus, dream tours, naomi catering, how it all started.

Back in 1987 , when Naomi made aliya, the last thing she had in mind was food. Although highly trained in the field, both from the culinary and management perspectives, she could not see a demand for a high end catering operation. But while learning the language, the smells emanating from her kitchenette in the absorption center brought enquiries from her neighbors, other new olim. And the rest, as they say, is history. From those humble super-idealistic beginnings, through the kitchens of her first two homes, a small industrial kitchen and now a larger industrial kitchen, Naomi has developed a business whose reputation has spread across five continents . Her addiction to excellence means that, 20+ years later, she works as many as 16 hours per day, 7 days per week .... and still loves every minute. That love, she explains, is the client's guarantee of a perfect production, every event. Her commitment has been inherited by eldest son, Ze'ev , who, after 5 years in the Hesder program and another 4 studying Business Management in Jerusalem, decided that the family business was the best place to grow. He is now joint CEO with Naomi.

EGYPT 9 Days

Seminar: in the footsteps of the exodus.

A Seminar with Rabbi Dr. Joshua Berman, the first-ever kosher tour of Egypt through the eyes of the Tanakh. Led by the leading authority on ancient Egypt and the world of the Torah, Rabbi Dr. Joshua Berman, you will see the Torah come alive as we revisit the world of our forefathers from the period of the Exodus. Brush your hand over authentic mud bricks with straw from the period of enslavement. Read the name “Miriam” in hieroglyphic inscriptions. Visit the temples of the Pharaoh of the Exodus, Ramesses II, and discover inscriptions that pertain directly to the story of the Exodus. The inscriptions and reliefs are both vast in number and astonishingly well preserved, and at every stop, we will open our Tanakhim and discover how passage after passage comes alive in new and full color.

This tour also encompasses the major highlights of Egypt. Explore the legendary Pyramids of Giza and gaze in awe at the Sphinx. Uncover the treasures of Egypt at the Grand Egyptian Museum see King Tutankhamun’s famous gold mask.  In Luxor roam around the colossal Temple of Karnak and tour the beautifully illuminated Luxor Temple at night and explore the tomb strewn Valley of the Kings. See the towering Colossi of Memnon and explore the beautiful Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In Aswan explore the romantic Philae Temple and learn about Jewish observance at the Elephantine Fortress – a diaspora community dating from the time of Ezra! In Cairo, you’ll travel back in time through the greatest archival discovery in Jewish History—the Genizah at the Ben-Ezra Synagogue.

Our leader for this adventure is the world-renowned scholar and lecturer Rabbi Dr. Joshua Berman, professor of Tanakh at Bar-Ilan University. Rabbi Berman has served on the International Advisory Committee of the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC, and his pioneering work on archaeological evidence for the Exodus has been featured in the Wall Street Journal .

SUNDAY: CAIRO

Flight from Israel. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Monday: Cairo

Flight from the USA. Arrival at Cairo airport. Transfer to the hotel, where we will meet the tour guide. Cairo: We begin the tour at Rambam Synagogue. We will continue to the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square. Dinner at the hotel.

Tuesday: CAIRO - ASWAN: Dahshur Pyramid, Mastaba of Kagmeni (Saqqara), Memphis, Giza Pyramids

Breakfast at the hotel. Located at a short distance from Saqqara, the Red Pyramid at Dahshur was built for the pharaoh Snefru, father of Khufu for whom the Great Pyramid of Giza was built. The Red Pyramid is the first ‘true’ pyramid, and it has the second largest base of all Egyptian pyramids.

What makes it yet more interesting is that it can be fully accessed, including the chance to see the burial chamber. There’s something special about exploring the cold and silent passageways inside the pyramid. Do not go inside if you are not comfortable in enclosed space. Dinner at the hotel. After dinner till drive to the airport and will fly to Aswan. Transfer to hotel.

Wednesday: ASWAN, ABU SIMBEL: Abu Simbel Complex

Breakfast at the hotel. This site, Abu Simbel Temples, south of Aswan along Lake Nasser’s shore, is the most famous in all of Egypt after the Giza Pyramids.

Built by the greatest of the pharaohs, Ramesses II, who was the Pharaoh of the Exodus, these huge rock-cut temples marked the southern boundary of the Egyptian Empire with Nubia at the peak of its power during the New Kingdom. They were meant to convey the power of Egypt’s rulers to anyone who laid eyes upon them, and we will see how the Torah appropriates many of its symbols. The four statues guarding the doorway to the larger of these temples are the largest sculptures that survive from the ancient Pharaonic era. Dinner at the hotel.

Thursday: ASWAN, Elephantine, Unfinished Obelisk,Philae Temple, Aswan High Dam

Breakfast at the hotel. Aswan: We will visit the unfinished obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk. We will continue to Elephantine Fortress, the site of the oldest diaspora community known to us.

From the many papyri found there we will learn about Pesach observance at the time when the second Temple had only recently been built. We will also travel to the island of Philae and take in the Philae Temple, unmatched in beauty and majesty. Our final destination for today is Aswan high Dam, the world’s largest embankment dam, which was built across the Nile. Dinner at the hotel.

Friday: ASWAN - LUXOR

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we will drive to Luxor. Luxor: We will visit the great temples of Karnak. The temples of Karnak consist of several temples, in the past, the two temples were linked by an avenue of ram headed sphinxes.

The important temples in Karnak are the temples of the god Amun, his wife the goddess Mut and their son Khonsy. Other significant landmarks are the sacred lake, the hypostyle hall and some colossal statues. We will visit several sites that shed light on the instructions for the construction of the Mishkan and the account of Pharaoh Shishak about his campaign ot Canaan, reported in 1 Kings and in Chronicles. Shabbat dinner at the hotel.

Saturday: LUXOR

Shacharit and Kiddush/Lunch. We’ll spend a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing Shabbat. Seuda Shlishit. At night we will visit the exquisitely lit temple at Luxor where we will see more inscriptions relating to the Exodus.

Sunday: LUXOR, MEDINAT HABU, TOMBS OF THE NOBLES (Rekhmire, Ramose)

Breakfast at the hotel. Optional: Early morning hot air balloon flight over west Luxor. Luxor: Today we will visit Ramses III’s magnificent memorial temple of Madinat Habu, fronted by sleepy Kom Lolah village and backed by the Theban mountains, one of the west bank’s most underrated sites.

It boasts astonishingly well-preserved art and inscriptions that shed light on warfare as described in the time of the Tanakh. We will visit Tombs of the Nobles. We’ll visit the Necropolis of Thebes where we will discover a series of relief paintings that depict the process of slaves making mudbricks, Valley of the Kings. After dinner we will visit Luxor Suk. Dinner at the hotel.

Monday: LUXOR, VALLEY OF THE KINGS

Breakfast at the hotel. Luxor: We will cross by ferry to west bank of the Nile and the Valley of the Kings. It was there that the fabulous treasures of Tutankhamun which dazzled the world, were discovered. We will visit the Tomb of Rameses VI.

Will’ continue to Deir-el Medinah, an ancient Egyptian workmen’s village which was home to the artisans who worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings during the 18th to 20th Dynasties of the New Kingdom of Egypt We will explore the Ramasseum, the massive memorial temple of Ramses II, the Pharaoh of the Exodus. We will probe the massive inscription of his 80 year reign that are chock-full of references that bring alive the story of the Exodus and the building of the Mishkan. The temple is surrounded by mudbrick storehouses that date from the period of the Exodus. Dinner at the hotel.

Tuesday: LUXOR - CAIRO - BACK HOME

This morning we’ll bid a sad farewell to Egypt. Our tour is now over and we take our memories with us as we head to the airport from where we take our flights home.

Kashrut on Tours

Only strictly kosher food is provided to our travelers on all our tours. On some of our tours we are able to provide glatt meals. Kashrut is of utmost importance to us and we take special measures to ensure that everything served is kosher.

Breakfast is prepared using our utensils. We use local fresh fruits and vegetables, and we use milk products when they are permitted. We use kosher cereals, and bread. We usually serve hard boiled eggs and sometimes scrambled eggs or omelets. At breakfast, we prepare our lunches so that people have their choice as to what they eat for lunch. We bring food from Israel to supplement what is served in the hotel such as cheeses, peanut butter, tuna, etc. For dinners, we serve either fish or meat (usually chicken) as our main course. In areas where meat is not available nor readily acquired, we will have fish. When possible, we acquire the meat locally from Chabad or other reliable kosher source, and in some cases we fly the meat in from Israel. We try to provide as many meat meals as possible. The main course at dinner is preceded by soup and salad and accompanied by freshly prepared vegetables. Dessert typically consists of fresh fruits. We do not guarantee Pat Israel and Chalav Israel for all destinations. In many destinations we have our own dishes and silverware. Where we don’t, we provide disposables at the meals. When we cook in hotel kitchens, we use our own knives, cutting boards, pots and pans, cooking implements and disposable metal trays. All food preparation is done on covered surfaces under the strict supervision of our trained staff/guides who function as our mashgichim. We make great efforts to assure that our travelers will experience local foods first-hand, while maintaining stringent observance of Kashrut laws on all occasions. On most of our tours, you will be accompanied by two of our staff members- one a guide for the tour who is knowledgeable about the places you are visiting and will accompany you throughout the day and the second, a person who will deal with the logistics of the tour and provide kashrut supervision in the kitchen.

It is our aim to provide the finest hotel possible in each area we visit. We require our hotels to allow us to work in the kitchen and to supervise the cooking and there are many hotels that are not willing to cooperate. They simply have no desire for us to be “meddling” in their cooking process nor are they happy about our bringing our equipment into their kitchens. We work very hard to find the best hotel in the area that will meet our requirements. Because we are not ready to compromise on kashrut, we may not always be able to use a five star hotel.

The Power of An Invitation: Opening Our Homes and Hearts for Shabbos and Yom Tov

Chaya (Lichtenstein) Neuman June 3, 2024

naomi kosher tours

Being alone during Yom Tov and Shabbos when you’re single, divorced, widowed, newly moved into a community, or newly married can be incredibly lonely and painful. I vividly remember those Shabboses when I lived alone, spending solitary meals trying to mask the ache of loneliness as the world seemed to carry on without me. A table set for one is one of the loneliest sights. The clink of a single fork on a single plate, the silence that fills the room—it’s a stark reminder of being alone. An invitation from a neighbor or friend would have meant the world—a reminder that I was not alone, that I mattered.

When I was growing up, my parents’ home was a haven of warmth and hospitality. Every single weekend, our doors were open to anyone in need of a welcoming home and, of course, my mother’s delicious food. I don’t recall a weekend we didn’t have guests. Singles, divorcees, widowed individuals, visiting rabbis, or even families who had just arrived from Israel and didn’t speak a word of English were always welcome. It was an unspoken rule that our home was an open home, and it’s one of the most beautiful lessons I learned from my parents. We even had one man, Freddy A’H, who was divorced and whom we adored like family. He would stay with us for weeks at a time and lovingly called my parents’ home the “Lichtenstein Hotel.”

Those experiences have taught me the immense value of opening one’s home and heart to others, especially during festive times. Whether it’s the single friend, the widowed neighbor, or the newly married couple still finding their footing, a warm invitation can be a lifeline, a beacon of hope and belonging. It’s a simple act of kindness that costs nothing, yet its impact is profound and long-lasting.

As we approach Shavuos, let’s make a conscious effort to look beyond our immediate circles. Do what my husband Ben does; he asks our Rabbi Eisenbach if there’s anyone who needs a meal, as we don’t know many people in our neighborhood. Extend a heartfelt invitation to someone who may be struggling with loneliness. You never know how much it could mean to them, just as it would have meant the world to me back then.

In a world that often feels cold and disconnected, the simple act of opening our homes and hearts can make all the difference. It’s a reminder that we are all part of a larger human family and that by extending a hand of kindness, we can create ripples of compassion that touch lives far beyond our own.

So, the next time you’re planning your Shabbos menu, throw in an extra kugel or two—after all, who can say no to a good kugel? And remember, the best part of hosting isn’t the perfectly set table or the gourmet dishes; it’s the warmth and connection shared around it.

Actionable Tips for Hosting

Here are some practical and heartwarming ideas to make hosting more doable and welcoming for everyone:

– Keep Freezer Staples: Always have a few kugels , pies , or cold cuts in the freezer for last-minute guests. It’s a simple way to ensure you’re always ready to welcome someone with a delicious meal and not feel overwhelmed.

– Communicate with Your Rabbi: Reach out to your rabbi and ask if they know anyone who might be alone this Shabbos or Yom Tov.

– Join Hosting Committees: Get involved in a committee at your shul dedicated to hosting newlyweds or singles. It’s a wonderful way to build a supportive community.

– Be Flexible with Invitations: Be open to hosting at the last minute if you hear someone needs a place. Spontaneous invitations can be the most meaningful.

– Personalize the Experience: Take the time to get to know your guests’ food preferences and try to accommodate them. A little personal touch goes a long way.

– Follow Up: After hosting, check in with your guests to see how they’re doing and offer ongoing support if needed. It shows that your care extends beyond just the meal.

By incorporating these tips, we can make our homes a source of warmth and community for those who need it most.
