Took my son to his 1st ever gig, which was Olly Murs! He didn't disappoint and my son loves him even more and I have to say so do I! A great performer, cheeky chappy and all round entertainer - fantastic night. He had everyone standing and dancing in their seats, would definitely recommend to anyone who likes Olly Murs or even if your not that fussed!! Enjoy!!

He was absolutely Amazing!

He involved the audience so much, made us laugh, had practically everyone up dancing as well.

I saw him 2 years ago & would definitely see him again.

If anyone is wondering whether to go & see him- Don't wait too long- book your tickets as soon as you can.

He's such a down to earth "normal" person who appreciates the fans who make him the Celebrity that he is. He's not "Up himself" & a genuine lovable Fella.

Unknown singer stands in for Olly Murs at last-minute as Take That support in Glasgow

Daniel Rooney stood in at 30 minutes’ notice on Friday night when Murs’ flight from London was cancelled

A Scottish singer has said he is “still on a high” after being plucked from obscurity to replace Olly Murs as the opening act for Take That at the last minute.

Murs was due to open for Take That at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Friday but had to pull out after getting stuck in London when his flight was cancelled.

The Scottish presenter Ross King was watching Daniel Rooney play at the Radisson hotel opposite the arena when news broke that Take That were without a support act.

Impressed with his vocals, King recommended Rooney to his friend and Take That frontman Gary Barlow to fill the slot, the Daily Record reported, with only 30 minutes to get to the venue.

Rooney later shared a series of images and videos of him performing on stage before 14,000 fans on Instagram , describing it as a “crazy night”.

“Hardly slept, still on a high from last night,” he added.

“Thanks for everyone’s lovely messages about the gig and all the support so far.”

He also thanked King for spotting him at the hotel and getting him to the venue, adding: “Craziest 30 minutes ever.”

Rooney added: “Also a big thanks to the takethat lads for calming me down before the show and talking setlist tunes. Absolute legends.”

Barlow praised Rooney for stepping up to the plate, writing “this young man saved the day thank you” on Instagram with a photo of the musician.

Fellow band member Mark Owen also gave a “huge thanks” to Rooney for helping them out at the show, which is part of their This Life tour.

Murs apologised for cancelling his performance at short notice on Friday after experiencing flight issues all day.

He said he had been at London Heathrow from 11am but after “several delays” and an incident with a cabin crew member the British Airways flight was cancelled.

“So sorry to everyone at the takethat show tonight in Glasgow , unfortunately I won’t be there,” Murs, 39, said on X.

“Don’t think I’ve ever missed a gig before, am so annoyed!

“But am now in a car heading up for our six-hour journey for the Saturday and Sunday shows right now.”

Murs had been updating fans throughout the day on Instagram story, sharing a video from inside the plane which was “stuck on the runway” before exiting and attempting to board another flight.

“I’m trying my best to get to Glasgow,” he said.

Murs later said: “Honestly, you couldn’t write this day.

“One of the cabin crew has fallen over and hurt herself … I hope she’s OK, but basically it has further delayed our flight. So we’re waiting for someone to come in to replace her.”

Murs described the wait as “so frustrating”, before announcing the flight and his show had been cancelled.

“I’m extremely gutted, I don’t think I’ve ever missed a gig that I can recall, especially of this magnitude.”

He later shared a video of himself being driven to Glasgow for his Saturday and Sunday performances.

A British Airways spokesperson said: “We’ve apologised to our customers for the disruption to their travel plans, which was caused by a technical issue with the aircraft.”

Olly Murs has been confirmed as the support act for Take That's 2024 UK tour , which includes Plymouth Argyle's Home Park as one of the stops. The news was confirmed by Take That's Gary Barlow during an appearance on BBC Radio Two with Zoe Ball.

The tour starts in April and will go on until the middle of June. The Plymouth show will be one of the last venues of the tour and is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4.

Announcing the exciting news of Olly's inclusion in the tour, Gary said: "We're really excited, we haven't been on tour in years and we're very excited and we have a special guest joining us for the whole tour."

Zoe Ball began pressing Gary for him to reveal the special guest's name before he said: "It's my friend, our friend, Olly Murs everybody. We're obviously very happy.

"Our tour supports we want them to be very friendly, people we hang out with, we see a lot of them. We couldn't think of a better partner for us than Olly, so we're very excited."

Christian Kent, Head of Venue, Hospitality and Events, said: “We are delighted to welcome one of the finest bands this country has ever seen to Home Park Stadium.

“After the Rod Stewart and Muse shows last summer, it is brilliant to have such a well-loved and well-renowned group come to Plymouth, once again. Our stature as one of the premier venues in the South West continues to go from strength to strength, and welcoming artists of this level only further underlines that.

“We look forward to Take That and Olly Murs appearing at Home Park next June and are sure the people of the South West are equally excited by this announcement.”

Tickets are on sale next Friday (September 29) at 9.30am but if you preorder Take That's new album you can get access to presale tickets from 9.30am on Wednesday (September 27).

Olly Murs has shared an update with his fans after being replaced unexpectedly at the last minute by singer Daniel Rooney at a Take That gig.

Aspiring musician Daniel had luck on his side when he was offered the chance to perform in front of a 14,000-strong crowd, all thanks to Olly cancelling his performance in Glasgow just minutes before doors were meant to open.

The Dear Diary singer, 39, has now managed to reach Scotland, but when chaos struck, a replacement was found singing in a hotel bar, with 30 minutes to spare.

Olly was scheduled to open for Take That at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Friday night as a part of the band’s This Life On tour, but fans were informed just before the concert that Murs would not be there.

His absence was blamed on unforeseen transport complications, but thankfully, there was a replacement at hand, with singer and guitarist Daniel finding himself supporting the boyband instead.

The musician had been playing at a hotel bar in the city when he was spotted by TV presenter Ross King, who was so impressed that he gave the young singer 30 minutes to get on stage at the Hydro Arena.

And he certainly saved the day, with Gary Barlow taking to Instagram and praising: ‘This young man saved the day thank you @danielrooney_music.’

Olly has since shared an update with fans about his place on the tour with Take That, writing on Instagram alongside a picture of himself with the band: ‘Lads don’t worry I’m back for good 🤣😅,’ quoting the group’s classic song Back For Good.

Stand-in Daniel had quite the welcome from the crowd when he performed on Friday night, before he dove into covers of favourites including 70s hit Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel, and he later described it as a ‘crazy night’.

‘Hardly slept, still on a high from last night,’ he added.

‘Thanks to everyone’s lovely messages about the gig and all the support so far.’

He also thanked Ross for spotting him at the hotel and getting him to the venue, adding: ‘Craziest 30 minutes ever.’

Talking after his performance, the musician reportedly said: ‘It’s hard to take it in, it’s really surreal.’

‘I’m just having a chance now to look at my phone and talk to my Mrs and parents and stuff. It was fast – 20 minutes before going on I met Gary and the guys and we talked about what songs to do’.

‘It was great, I got some good singalongs with the crowd etc and it felt like they were really behind me.’

He went on: ‘I know some people were not happy about Olly but as soon as I went up and had a chat they were brilliant.

‘Ross [King] went up first and announced what was going on, he explained I was playing in Radisson RED when Gary asked him to help so he came up to me and asked me to play the Hydro instead.

‘I still had 45 minutes to go at the hotel but what can you do with something like this – but they’re really happy for me.’

Meanwhile, Ross praised: ‘Danny was sensational.. a star was born! He met the boys before he went on and they waited for him to come off and told him he was brilliant.’

Olly had found himself stranded at London ’s Heathrow Airport since 11am yesterday morning, following the cancellation of his flight to Glasgow.

Expressing his sincere apologies to disappointed fans, he conveyed his frustration at the situation, assuring them he was going to do everything in his power to make it to the Hydro stage for Saturday and Sunday night’s performances.

He posted on social media: ‘So sorry to everyone at the @takethat show tonight in Glasgow, unfortunately I won’t be there.’

He then recounted the series of delays and a subsequent cancellation of his British Airways flight, leading to his unprecedented absence from the gig.

Despite the setback, he remained determined to honor his commitment to fans in Glasgow, embarking on a lengthy six-hour car journey to ensure his presence for the remaining shows.

And he managed to make it, pictured all smiles as he arrived in Glasgow on Saturday.

The star was dressed down in dark shorts and a cap, carrying a bright Snoopy bag.

Meanwhile, the OVO Hydro issued an apology to ticket holders via social media, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone’s control’ as the cause for Olly’s cancellation.

Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused, the venue assured fans that efforts were being made to address the situation promptly.

Fans are now waiting to hear if the venue will offer full or partial refunds on tickets because of the cancellation.

The former X Factor star had to leave home  just 48 hours after his wife, Amelia Tank,  gave birth to their first child in order to join Take That on tour.

He’s been open with audiences about the struggle of having a new baby while in the midst of a tour, recently telling the crowd at  London ’s  O2  Arena that: ‘It’s been the most craziest time.

‘Because obviously, on one hand I’ve got this beautiful baby girl, my wife is at home looking after her with the nappies, and the sleepless nights.

‘And I’m on tour with Take That. I feel guilty!’

Olly continued: ‘But this week I’ve been home. I’ve done the nappies, I’ve done the late nights and I can’t wait to stay on tour. 

‘I’m joking! Honestly, she is truly awesome. I never thought I’d be a dad, so I can’t quite believe it.;

The singer then jokingly gestured to his crotch and laughed: ‘It works! And genuinely I’m super, super proud.

‘And to be on this tour, it’s just topped it off. So what an amazing time for me right now.’

Olly Murs joined by wife Amelia and newborn daughter on tour

It was 'take your daughter to work day' for new dad Olly Murs as he brought his adorable newborn daughter Madison to the O2 in London.

He welcomed his first child, Madison, with his wife Amelia Tank two weeks ago but he has been busy ever since as he joined Take That on tour as their supporting act just days after the birth.

Olly played six nights at the O2 Arena but on the final night, he had an 'extra special' day at work as his little family came to watch him at the concert.

Olly shared a sweet picture with his wife, as he held his daughter on stage in front of an empty arena before the show. He wrote: 'Bye o2, 6 unbelievable nights but tonight’s one was extra special.'

The singer also shared a cute video of him kissing goodbye to his wife before jumping over the camera and onto the stage.

Despite being on tour, Olly has managed to spend some quality dad time cuddling his daughter when he is home, and shared a picture with her sleeping on his chest.

He told fans on stage at the London O2 Arena, in a clip posted by MailOnline , that he was put on nappy duty on his days off from tour, saying: 'This week I've been home, I've done the nappies, I've done the late nights… and I can't wait to stay on tour!

'I'm joking honestly, it's truly awesome. I never thought I'd be a dad so I can't quite believe it… but genuinely I'm super, super proud and to be on this tour has just topped it off, so what an amazing time for me.'

Olly Murs apologises for cancelling Glasgow gig with Take That after flight woes

Olly Murs has apologised for cancelling a performance in Glasgow at the last minute.

The singer has been supporting Take That on tour, but was forced to cancel his appearance with the band at the OVO Hydro due to transport issues.

Murs said he had been at Heathrow from 11am ahead of his performance on Friday night, but the flight was cancelled after "several delays" and an accident with a cabin crew member.

"So sorry to everyone at the @takethat show tonight in Glasgow, unfortunately I won't be there," the 39-year-old former X-Factor runner-up wrote on X.

"Don't think I've ever missed a gig before, am so annoyed!

"But am now in a car heading up for our six-hour journey for the Saturday and Sundays show right now."

The singer had been updating fans via his Instagram story, sharing a video from inside the plane - which was "stuck on the runway" - before he disembarked and attempted to board another flight.
