Reasons to take a Cab from hyderabad to srisailam

Renowned as one of the most important and ancient kshetras of the country, Srisailam sits on the flatbed of Nallamalai Hills. Located here is the holy shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna, in the district of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The picturesque view of River Krishna is towards the left side of the shrine. Most people from the nearest city hire cabs from Hyderabad to Srisailam to visit this celebrated mountain. Popularly called as Srigiri, Siridhan, Srinagam and Sriparvatha, the destination is popular for Saivite pilgrims to visit over centuries.

The most prominent experience is the Divya Kshetram, which is highlighted during the performance of daily household rituals by the people of the location, where the spot of existence is often spoken about with reference to Srisailam. With the airport, bus depot and railway station located a significant distance away, hiring a Hyderabad to Srisailam taxi is the best way to get here.

There is free distribution of Daddhojana Prasadams and Puliyogare at the temple all day long. The plateau of Srisailam is surrounded by the Nallamalai Hills, providing a view of the dense forests hiding the tribal settlements and natural wildlife sanctuaries.

4 great scenic train rides across the US

Bill Fink

Want to truly immerse yourself in the vastness of the USA? There's no better way than to take a scenic cross-country train trip.

During these long-distance train rides, the journey is just as exciting as the destination itself. Relaxing in your seat as you watch the U.S. landscape out your train car window slowly change from cities to farmlands or from wide-open plains to towering mountains is an experience that's worth the extra transit time.

Amtrak offers many overnight and multiday scenic train rides across the U.S. from the East Coast, the West Coast and everywhere in between. Route names like the Empire Builder, the Coast Starlight and the California Zephyr are enough to inspire wanderlust for any traveler.

Whether you're new to train travel or an avid rider of the rails, here are four bucket list-worthy U.S. train rides to take for stunning scenery, plus some tips on how best to book and enjoy them.

Tips for cross-country train travel

rr tours & travels

While taking a cross-country train trip can be a rewarding experience, as it offers days to leisurely sit back and enjoy scenic landscapes, many people have worries about how best to book such a long trip and what to expect when it comes to sleeping arrangements. TPG has a few tips to help you get on board with the concept and easily plan your journey.

Browse routes by region

rr tours & travels

A good first step to take when looking for a route that's right for you is to search Amtrak's "Browse by Region" menu. You can pick a large area of the country from which to start or finish your trip.

Once you click on an area, Amtrak will provide lists of highlighted long-distance routes, as well as shorter point-to-point trips. You can then select a route like the Capitol Corridor in California before being directed to ticket purchase menus.

Explore Amtrak Vacations

rr tours & travels

Amtrak offers curated vacation packages to rail travelers via its Amtrak Vacations website. These tours can include side trips (via bus) to national parks , sightseeing tours in cities and hotel lodging on stopovers along the route. You can search for packages around vacation themes like "Fall Foliage" and "Multiple National Parks."

Amtrak's set of "Most Scenic Journeys" vacation packages include trips lasting up to two weeks that combine rail travel and additional tours. Think of these trips like cruises with shore excursions . Some of the scenic journey-designated options focus on national parks, while others are big-city oriented.

You can click on each option's details to find itineraries, dates and prices. Then, all that's left to do is book your rail vacation.

Consider famous routes

rr tours & travels

A shortcut to finding scenic cross-country rail routes on Amtrak is to visit its Amtrak Vacations website and click on "Famous Rail Routes." This set of approximately 20 different overnight train routes gives you a great set of suggestions for your own potential cross-country journeys.

For more details on the fixed routes, click on any of the tabs. Once you've chosen a route, you can either book a package tour with Amtrak Vacations or go to the regular Amtrak website and book a point-to-point trip.

Weigh your accommodation options

Taking an overnight or a multiday train trip means you'll need to sleep aboard the train. All of Amtrak's long-distance train trips provide a variety of seating and room arrangments.

The cheapest way to travel is to simply book a seat on the route. While Amtrak's seating is comfortable, with more legroom than you'll find in an airline's business class, it may not be the way you want to travel for many hours. You can get up, walk the train and stop in the cafe car, but this can still be a tough way to travel during a multiday journey.

Fortunately, Amtrak provides several classes of accommodations on cross-country trips, ranging from shared roomettes with fold-out bunks to bedrooms, larger family bedrooms and suites complete with private bathrooms and showers. Should you book one of these rooms on a cross-country itinerary, you'll enjoy access to a separate dining car.

Prices for the various ticket classes vary widely between routes and dates, so check potential itineraries to find the best option for you.

4 scenic train trips to take in the US

Now that you know the basics when it comes to picking a long-distance train route, you'll want to narrow down your options. Although there are many scenic routes in the U.S., here are our four favorites.

California Zephyr: San Francisco to Chicago

rr tours & travels

Amtrak's California Zephyr route travels between San Francisco and Chicago on a three-day journey. The 51-hour trip (on the west-to-east path) begins in nearby Emeryville, California, then travels through central California farmlands up into the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Along this part of the route, you'll enjoy spectacular panoramas from glassed-in viewing cars.

The train continues through Reno and the Nevada deserts into Salt Lake City before traveling up into the Rocky Mountains to reach Denver . You'll descend into the wide-open plains of Nebraska and eventually wind your way into the Windy City.

This trip is a great way to immerse yourself in the American West, as you'll get a true feeling of the vastness of the region and the variety of terrain that makes up the country.

One-way prices start at $141 per person for a seat in coach and $688 for a room.

Empire Builder: Seattle to Chicago

rr tours & travels

The Empire Builder train route connects Chicago and Seattle on a 46-hour journey connecting the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. The train loosely follows the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail, the route the explorers took to map out the region acquired during the Louisiana Purchase.

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark would have appreciated sitting back in the train's viewing cars to enjoy eyefuls of Montana 's Big Sky Country, Glacier National Park , the Cascade Range and the vast plains of North Dakota. Additionally, the explorers would have marveled at the metalwork of North Dakota's towering Gassman Coulee Trestle bridge.

Should you wish to depart or arrive in Portland, Oregon, instead of Seattle, know that there's an alternate route of the Empire Builder from this Pacific Northwest city, so you can plan your itinerary based on your preferences.

One-way train fares from Chicago to Seattle begin at $150 per person, while rooms cost at least $651.

Southwest Chief: Los Angeles to Chicago

rr tours & travels

Traverse the American Southwest on a southern route between Los Angeles and Chicago. The Southwest Chief route departs daily and takes roughly 40 hours to cross eight states.

For some of the journey, the train follows the classic American road trip thoroughfare of historic Route 66 . However, unlike its car-friendly neighbor, the train route offers views you won't find while driving the highway, as it winds on twisting tracks that travel through narrow red-rock canyon passages before offering wide-open vistas of mountains and deserts.

The train's main stops include Kansas City, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Flagstaff, Arizona. You can also take advantage of excursions from the train when you purchase one of Amtrak's vacation packages. For example, you can visit the Grand Canyon (by train or bus) while the train is stopped in Williams, Arizona.

Even if you never leave the train, the views along the way are enough to create lasting memories.

Expect to pay at least $146 per person for a coach seat on this one-way route or a minimum of $899 for a room.

Crescent: New York City to New Orleans

rr tours & travels

See the American South on this 30-hour journey between New York City and New Orleans . Departing the urban landscape of the Big Apple, this route will take you through the Northeastern cityscapes of Philadelphia , Baltimore and Washington, D.C. , among other destinations.

Once it exits the urban corridor, the train winds through the countryside of Virginia and the Carolinas, offering stops in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greenville, South Carolina. Then, it continues through the Deep South states of Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi before reaching its final stop in New Orleans.

Tickets for this one-way route start at $139 for a seat in coach and $580 for a room.

Bottom line

Traveling by train across the U.S. gives you a unique perspective of the scale and scope of the American landscape. While it may be slower than flying across the country, rail travel gives you the opportunity to sit back and savor the journey, appreciating the changing views as the hours roll by.

The four scenic cross-country train trips highlighted here are only some of Amtrak's many long-distance journeys available to book. By exploring Amtrak's website, you can find many different rail journeys in nearly every part of the U.S. Best of all, most offer an array of seating options, so you can choose the ticket that best suits your travel preferences and budget.

What is daily life in rural Russia? How the traditional Russian village still looks like? This is a very popular question among  foreign travelers.

This August we visited a small Russian village located in the middle of nowhere that is just 250 km from Moscow.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Subscriber only, guest commentary | the false claims behind the ‘ultimate trail’ by railroad tracks.

By Brian Peoples

Rail consultants have stated that in order to meet the travel time requirements from Watsonville to Santa Cruz, a new passenger train would need to reach speeds of up to 60 mph. However, the topographical challenges of the Branch Line make it difficult to achieve these desired speeds while also accommodating a trail. The passenger rail must adhere to the regulatory guidelines set by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which mandates a minimum horizontal clearance of 12 feet from the railroad centerline to the trail for the proposed passenger rail service. Unfortunately, the current design of the Ultimate Trail falls short of meeting this requirement, with a setback of only 8.5 feet from the centerline. As a result, the Ultimate Trail will either need to be relocated or permanently closed to make way for a future passenger rail system.

The Regional Transportation Commission/county’s planned Ultimate Trail, funded by the California Transportation Commission Grant, is not intended to be permanent and will have to be closed or relocated to accommodate the future rail service.

There are several reasons why a new passenger rail system will never be feasible along the Santa Cruz Branchline. However, our point to CTC Grant fund administrators is, the RTC/county is spending millions more for a substandard and narrow trail (Ultimate Trail) when a wider and more accessible trail (Interim Trail) can be constructed at a fraction of the cost and in a more environmentally friendly manner. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that some rail advocates falsely claim that the CTC requirements from Proposition 116 funding, used to purchase the rail line, necessitate the existence of a rail system on the Santa Cruz Branchline. However, a letter from the CTC in 2015 clarifies that the RTC has the option to return the $11 million funds (Prop. 116 funding) and utilize the Santa Cruz Branchline for any useful purpose.

In addition to the false claims that rail must exist on the Santa Cruz Branchline, rail advocates continue to falsely claim that implementing the federal railbanking process would be blocked by Progressive Rail and Roaring Camp. In 2019, Progressive Rail sent a letter to RTC stating that railbanking from Watsonville to Santa Cruz has no impact on Progressive Rail operations.

Roaring Camp operates an amusement park train ride from Felton to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and has no freight operations along the railline from Watsonville to Felton that would justify keeping the old railroad tracks. In addition, the existing railroad trestles along the Branchline from Watsonville to Santa Cruz have been out of service for years and can not be used for freight without major repairs and replacements of the trestles. As former RTC Executive Director Guy Preston stated multiple times, implementing the federal railbanking process is needed to preserve the Branchline as a transportation resource for the county and would be approved by the Surface Transportation Board.

We are asking the CTC grant administers to not allow the RTC/county to misuse CTC funds for the Ultimate Trail that is based on an incorrect assumption of how the Santa Cruz Branchline can be used. Please help us stop this waste of time and tax dollars by Santa Cruz public officials and let’s build the Santa Cruz Coastal Trail in a timely, cost effective and eco-friendly manner.

Brian Peoples is executive Director of Trail Now and an Aptos resident.

Dear Robb Report : We’re safari veterans—we’ve hit all the major sights, from gorilla trekking in Rwanda to private game reserves in Botswana. We’ve seen the Big Five, and were lucky enough to watch a kill in the Masai Mara. We love Africa , and safari, more than anything, but we want our next trip to feel fresh, and offer us something more than just retreading our past adventures. Can you help? Yours, Safari Sandy

What a lucky conundrum to face, Safari Sandy. Certainly, you’ve experienced the breadth of what the sub saharan continent can offer—though you don’t mention Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. If you’ve not helicoptered over there, make sure to add to your to-do list ( and make sure to do that on a sunny day, as the rainbows generated by the spray in sunlight are captivating). But you’re not alone— Roar Africa’s Deb Calmeyer says it’s a commonplace challenge, as many of her clients have planned a dozen or more visits. She has three approaches she deploys for those seasoned safari-goers.

The second approach for veteran Africa visitors is to think less about place, and more about theme . Are you an adrenaline-chasing family? What about quad biking through the bush in Namibia, or mokoro boating in Botswana, with a night or two sleeping under the stars in barefoot luxury at Xigera’s treehouse—which Calmeyer and her fellow Travel Masters just voted the greatest suite in the world? For pro-am photographers, Calmeyer’s planned a private helicopter-focused tour, zooming up the Rift Valley, the Saguta desert and Lake Turkana in Kenya, stopping down at each for aerial and up-close shots. People-to-people is another option, perhaps focusing on learning more about cultures in the region rather than animal-spotting. Special permits are required to visit a handful of tribes, like the San in Botswana and the Pökoot in Kenya.

“They’re the last pastoral tribe left, and it’s an hour and a half by helicopter to the north,” she says. “You can’t believe these people still exist, but it’s extraordinary. You can go and have a meal with them, as long as you’ve paid to get the special permission.”

Her third and final recommendation is to focus more deeply on a single place, and look for the experiences that locals might enjoy. Remember, of course, that the bush holds as much fascination for those living and working in it as for visitors.

“For clients like this, I might start planting seeds about the places I knew as a kid growing up that aren’t going to be on the five-star circuit,” explains Zimbabwe-born Calmeyer, nodding to Lake Kariba and Mana Pools, for example. This inland sea is downstream from Victoria Falls; there are lodges ranged around its southern edge though reaching them for most visitors requires an extra private charter.

Hopefully those suggestions will help you plan your next trip or two – and if you need more inspiration, here are a few more ideas.
