About Safari Quad Bike Trails

Seeing the world-renowned Cradle of Humankind , just outside Johannesburg (in the province of Gauteng), is an unforgettable experience that will be treasured by tourists from all over the world. Of course, it is even more fun when being tackled on safari quad bikes with the team of professional funsters of Segwati in Hartbeespoort Dam .

These trails are in a game farm that is part of the northern boundary of the Cradle, which is recognised as a World Heritage Site. All of the Segwati tours are conducted on safari quads, which are larger than usual quad bikes, but are also known for being easy to ride and control. However, guides do a full safety briefing beforehand to ensure that all of the riders are safe and able to get the most from their experience.

The Segwati Safari Quad Trails take visitors up the Witwaterberg Mountains, at the top of which views of the magnificent Magaliesberg and the valleys are nothing short of breath-taking. The trail is easy enough for anyone to manage, even those with little or no quad biking experience.

The magical allure of the area is coupled with a professional and efficient approach to ensuring that visitors of Segwati have the best possible experience. This is an idyllic escape from the non-stop buzz of city living, and an immersion into the tranquil beauty and abundance of the South African countryside.

Thanks to the natural proliferation of fauna and flora, quad bikers can keep an eye out for wildlife as they negotiate the countryside on their bikes. This wildlife includes an impressive collection of bird species. The picnic and braai area and the old reservoir that is filled with cool water make for the perfect places to relax, cool off and take a break from the “real world” with the Segwati team.

Explore classic South African bushveld and the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains near Harties on quad bikes, navigating rocky trails and experiencing all the excitement of off-road driving in a beautiful setting. You won’t be leaving anyone behind with this inclusive activity. Most can do it; you don’t have to be a skilful driver, athletic or fit. You don’t have to have a driver’s licence. Experienced adventure guides will make sure you’re kitted out properly, will give you a few handy hints and tips and then you’ll be off having the time of your life.

On our Hartbeespoort quad bike trails you might spot game like wildebeest, kudu and blesbok. Quad biking doesn’t have to be full throttle and extreme. You can trundle along and enjoy the beautiful scenery, chat to your buddies and even gaze up at the stunning Magaliesberg from time to time. Just don’t take your eyes off the trail for too long!

QUAD BIKE TRAILS – HARTBEESPOORT

Experience the thrill of quad bike riding in Hartbeespoort with guided tours through a stunning nature reserve. Suitable for all experience levels.

Embark on an unforgettable quad bike adventure through a stunning nature reserve in Hartbeespoort. Suitable for all experience levels, enjoy a safe guided tour, encountering wildlife and picturesque scenery. Kids aged 14 and above can drive on their own if they have experience, while younger children must ride with a parent. Experience the thrill of exploring the bushveld on a quad bike like never before.

Open Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays).

Highlights include:

• Explore the expansive 150-hectare nature reserve on a thrilling quad bike adventure in Hartbeespoort, led by experienced guides.
• Enjoy the ride at a comfortable speed, allowing you to soak in the beautiful surroundings and encounter wildlife along the way
• Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced quad biker, the trails cater to all skill levels.

Duration: 1 hour Inclusions: Quad Bike, helmet, and professional guide.  Exclusions: Items of personal nature.

Departure times may change according to season. Please note that no own drinks or food is allowed on the premises. There is a deli onsite, where snacks and cooldrinks can be bought (needs to be paid by card – the operator does not accept cash)

Please arrive 45 minutes before the appointed time, trail length is cut shorter should you not be by us at the proper arrival time, and will still return at the standard end time.)

(NB: A CASH deposit of R250 PER PERSON is required on the day of the booking upon arrival when booking for 4 or more persons. This deposit is returned immediately after the ride to the client if all the bikes are accident free. Deposits are kept in the event of damage, plus the amount needs to be topped up to R2500 per bike that is damaged until a repair quote has been received for damages. All clients take full financial responsibility for any accidents to quad bikes)

Please note that this operator does not offer Refunds, under any circumstance. In the event of rescheduling, the trail needs to be rescheduled at least 72 hours (3 full days) prior. Segwati’s quad biking experience comes with an extra layer of adventure and unforgettable game viewing. Keep an eye out for animals such as baboons, snakes, mongooses, otters, and a variety of interesting birdlife, including the Hornbill on your walk. The loop trail route range from 5km to 18km, and is generally considered an easy route that takes an average of over 2hrs to complete. 

Visitors can also take their own picnics to enjoy before or after the quad biking and hike. Advance booking to reserve picnic space at the venue is essential.

Harties Horse Trail Safaris now also offer guided quad bike tours all around the beautiful 150 hectare nature reserve.

The quad rides are perfect for guests who have no or very little experience in quad bike riding. We do not race but keep it at a safe speed for all, to be able to enjoy the scenery as well as the wildlife encountered on the ride.

We do have horses and hikers plus wildlife in the reserve, therefore the quad rides are not for speeding but a safe guided tour. 

Kids need to be 14 and older to drive their own bike (Unless they have their own quads or have driven quads a lot and are confident to drive on their own)

Kids aged 4 to 15 can sit with a parent on the quad at R200 per child.

1 hour quad bike ride harties.

Our 1 Hour quadbike rides are done on brand new Linhai Rustler 300 cc utility quadbikes. It is perfect for beginners and for families. We do not race on the quads, it is a safe, guided experience for persons who wants to experience the bush in an exciting way. The track goes onto gravel roads which goes all around the beautiful nature reserve of Silkaatsnek Nature Reserve. Kids ages 3 and older can join their parents. 2 Guests can be on one quad as long as their combined weight does not exceed 170 kg. Cost is R550 per person (driver) plus R275 per person riding with on the same bike. (Child or adult) (A cash deposit of R500 per person is required on the day, this is refunded in full on the day if the bikes are returned after the ride without damages) If you would like to book shared quadbikes, you need to book only 1 quadbike per driver and then at the checkout under EXTRA: add Person Sharing quadbike.

It does get dusty! Do not wear white. Wear clothes suitable for the bush. Long pants and a tshirt is perfect. NO shorts or skirts or dresses are allowed on the quads. Full lenght pants is required (jeans or tights) plus closed shoes e.g Boots or Tekkies are perfect. No flipflops or high heels allowed.

If the combined weight exceeds this, seperate quads per person will have to be booked. * No one under the age of 16 are allowed to drive the quad alone. *No one under the influence of alcohol will be allowed to drive, and if you have booked and paid , you do not get refunded in the case that you consumed alcohol and forfeit your ride. * No racing, wheelies, spinning etc is allowed. Guests not adhering to rules, will be asked to get off the vehicle immediately and no refunds will be given. * The quadbikes are extremely expensive and ANY damage to the quad bike, will be for the clients account. Please note it is like renting a car. * If any clients do not adhere to the rules and speed of the guide, the guide has the right to stop the activity immediately and the client will not be able to proceed. .

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received within 14 days will receive a full refund.

Cancellations received within 7 days will forfeit the full amount.

Please note we do require cash breakage deposit for  quad biking. The deposit is given back immediately after the ride if all the bikes are returned without any damages. Deposit is R250 PER PERSON when the booking is for 4 or more persons.

I was so lucky to get within a metre of a herd of Giraffe grazing on leaves, as well as two baby Giraffe. Im a fairly proficient horse rider, but what I enjoyed most about this adventure was the fact my horse was so calm and loving. He did not bolt or get worked up near any animals, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the ride. My guide, a Zimbabwean gentleman was very friendly and knowledgeable about the habits of all the animals that we saw. It was like watching a National Geographic documentary. The game reserve is also so peaceful and I felt really safe. I would recommend this to anyone, whether you can ride or not, as it is on par with 5 star game reserves, but at a fraction of the price. We saw lots of buck, zebra, giraffe, etc and had a few trots and canters. I will definitely go back again when in the area. The horse rides in itself were quite an adventure, since I last rode on a horse more than 10 years back, and my son's never actually ridden a horse before, other than the short guided pony rides you sometimes get at places. The horses would sometimes be trotting and this was very exciting for everyone as it's different to the usual walk. We saw a Giraffe and different sorts of antelope, like the rare Golden Wildebeest, Blesbuck, Kudu, etc. Odd enough, the people ON the horses, didn't seem to scare the game away, so we could get quite close in order to take some nice shots. We could enjoy the horse ride as well as the entire wild environment around there. The horses are well trained and there were guides to help us. We met a Giraffe and other animals. I was on a rather placid horsey which suited me just fine. It’s worth a go if you like horses and nature but don’t want to be too in control of a “wild stallion”, the horse was chilled, an altogether very chilled experience. :) (Tried to add photos but my file size was too big.... insert Giraffe and nice countryside picture here).
