Pokémon Ultra Violet: All about the Rome Hack

safari zone ultra violet

Pokémon Ultra Violet invites you to Kanto once again. By ROM Hack of Fire Red you can catch your starter Pokémon yourself.

Pokémon Ultra Violet: Catch 386 Pokémon in Kanto

The idea for Pokémon Ultra Violet came from creator LocksmithArmy. With the ROM hack of the Fire Red Edition, you will once again start on a customised journey through the Kanto region.

  • The story and map have been expanded by an additional group of islands. As usual, you start in Alabastia and have to defeat the usual arena ladders and the top 4, as well as the champion.
  • This time, all Pokémon from the first three generations including the legendary ones are at your disposal. You can find all the monsters in the wild and evolve them without trading. Special evolution stones are available through the supermarkets.
  • These also include the Fossil and Battle Pokémon Nockchan and Kicklee. They each get both and do not have to choose one. The three starters Bisasam, Glumanda and Schiggy can also be found in the wild.
  • A new feature of Ultra Violet is the ability to catch the starter Pokémon yourself. To do this, you have to approach Professor Eich without selecting a starter. You then enter a special Safari Zone and can catch a Pokémon to start your journey with. Make sure you make a good catch, because you will never be able to return to this area again.
  • Certain legendary Pokémon are accessible via events that require you to take an in-game ship. Ultra Violet invites you to explore to fill your Pokédex.

Test Pokemon Ultra Violet: These are good reasons

“Pokémon Ultra Violet” is a popular ROM hack for many different reasons:

  • Access to all Pokémon: This hack allows you to capture all the Legendary Pokémon from the first three generations without having to rely on events or other games.
  • Collector’s Delight: If you’re a Pokémon fan who enjoys catching and perfecting all kinds of Pokémon, Pokémon Ultra Violet gives you the opportunity to expand and complete that collection.
  • Nostalgia: For players who love the original Pokémon games from the late 90s and early 2000s, “Pokémon Ultra Violet” can provide a nostalgic experience that enhances and expands upon the original games.

Pokémon Ultra Violet Download? Is it legal?

Watch out! Pokémon Ultra Violet is a ROM hack. Accordingly, it is a fan game that was not published by Nintendo or GameFreak.

  • For copyright reasons, we are unable to link you to a source for downloading the game.
  • It is important to note that playing ROM hacks is in a legal grey area, as you usually need to own an illegal copy of the original game to be able to perform the hack. Make sure you comply with local laws and regulations regarding ROM hacks and emulated games.
  • Fully legally, you can play Fire Red Edition as a used game. If you prefer modern Pokémon games, you should take a look at Pokemon Purple and Pokemon Crimson.

Safari Zone

safari zone ultra violet

A Safari Zone (Japanese: サファリゾーン Safari Zone ) is a special Pokémon preserve where Trainers can enter and participate in the Safari Game (Japanese: サファリゲーム Safari Game ) to catch rare wild Pokémon .

Safari Zones can be found in the following regions :

  • The Safari Zone in Kanto , located north of Fuchsia City .
  • The Safari Zone in Johto , located north of Route 48 beyond the Safari Zone Gate in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver .
  • The Safari Zone in Hoenn , located north of Route 121 .
  • The Great Marsh in Sinnoh , located north of Pastoria City .

In the games

safari zone ultra violet

The mechanics of the Safari Zones are similar to each other. Most have a $ 500 entry fee, a step limit, a series of distinct areas with different wild Pokémon in each, and 30 Safari Balls , with which players may catch the Pokémon they come upon. The most important of their specific mechanics, however, is that Trainers do not initiate Pokémon battles with the wild Pokémon, but instead must catch them without battling them. The wild Pokémon within Safari Zones are capable of fleeing at any given time.

Differences between games

  • The Johto Safari Zone has no step limit.
  • In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , the Hoenn Safari Zone does not use typical Safari Zone mechanics, instead functioning like normal routes .
  • Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! effectively do not have a Safari Zone; the area that used to be the Safari Zone is replaced with GO Park , while the zoo area in front is referred to as the "Safari Zone" instead.

Similar examples

  • Johto 's National Park is somewhat similar to a Safari Zone, being a nature preserve for Pokémon and having a thrice-weekly Bug-Catching Contest which shares several aspects with a Safari Game.
  • Kalos 's Friend Safari area, located in Kiloude City , also bears some similarities with Safari Zones, differing in the available wild Pokémon (which are dependent on the Nintendo 3DS Friend Codes of other players) as well as allowing Poké Balls of any variety as opposed to solely Safari Balls.
  • The Pal Park in all Generation IV games bears some superficial similarities to a Safari Zone, being a special area where only a specific type of Poké Ball can be used, featuring possible Pokémon species that otherwise cannot be found, and where the player cannot battle the Pokémon found there. Additionally, in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver , the Pal Park is placed in Fuchsia City where it replaces the Safari Zone.
  • In Hisui , the Safari Zone was not yet established, but the main gameplay of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is similar to the Safari Zone.

Unova , Alola , Galar , Paldea , and Kitakami have neither a Safari Zone nor anything similar to or resembling a Safari Zone.

  • In the Generation II games, there is some data for a beta Safari Zone in Fuchsia City , but it was ultimately unused.

Essential Things to Know in Pokémon Ultra Violet

The real objective in pokémon ultra violet, the first few routes, pewter city, cerulean city; finding mew, vermillion city and the next routes, 4-points isle, heading to celadon city, saffron city, 4-points isle; second visit and the catacombs, fuchsia city and the safari zone, cinnabar island, sevii islands, viridian city, pokémon league, episode 36 making battles in the sand, latias and latios, raikou, entei, and suicune, ho-oh, lugia and deoxys, question: which pokémon can you catch in pokémon ultra violet , question: what’s special about pokémon ultra violet , question: which starter is the best to start within pokémon ultra violet, pokemon ultra violet game: conclusion.

Many Pokémon fangames focus on the battles: Some try to develop a whole new battle system, while others insert new Pokémon and new types and change what we know. But, battling in Pokémon isn’t all. There’s a lot of people that love to catch them all! That’s why Pokémon Ultra Violet exists.

Pokémon Ultra Violet is a ROM hack that doesn’t bring anything outstanding to the table; instead, it pleases the first-ever feel that Pokémon lovers have felt while playing: the opportunity to complete a whole Pokédex without needing to trade Pokémon with other people.

This game has the same adventure that Pokémon Fire Red has, but with a small tweak; it will let us catch every Pokémon from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. So, Pokémon Ultra Violet is designed for those who love Pokémon differently; as a completionist.

Pokémon Ultra Violet

WARNING! You may find some spoilers here! If you want to enjoy the full adventure on your own, skip this!

A great thing about Pokémon Ultra Violet is that the game doesn’t change any in-game mechanics and inserts difficult battles; It will be enough with what you know about Pokémon. This game is slightly easier than the original Fire Red since you can have access to powerful Pokémon (like Mew) before even getting half the badges; you can build a balanced team here.

The game is focused more on exploring new things in the regi on and completing the whole Pokédex, so, this time, your dream will not be being the strongest Pokémon trainer; instead, your dream will be being the best Pokémon researcher.

Starting the Game

As we said before, Pokémon Ultra Violet is the same adventure as Pokémon Fire Red but with some little tweaks that we will be seeing throughout the guide. So, Ultra Violet starts exactly like Fire Red, with you in your room in Pallet Town, about to receive your first Pokémon.

After getting to Professor Oak’s laboratory, you can choose between one of the three starters

(Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander) or catch a special one in the laboratory’s research facilities. Here, you can find:

  • Gastly
  • Spheal
  • Dratini

safari zone ultra violet

After getting your starter, you’ll have to b attle against yo ur rival and then start your adventure! After the battle, you’ll be able to get to the first Route, and for the first time, we will find something that will repeat a lot in several places on the map; shinyzers.

Shinyzers are random spots on the map that, if you step on them, the next wil d Pokémon you’ll see will be shiny. In this case, you can find the first-ever Shinyzer in the group of tall grass after passing the Route Sign. The exact spot is in the upper left corner of the group of tall grass. Here, you’ll only find Rattatas and Pidgeys, but don’t worry, there will be more of them with interesting Pokémon!

Shinyzers have a cool trick; if you step on one of them and use a repel, you can travel wherever you want to get any shiny Pokémon in the game. This trick also works with legendaries too!  At this moment, you can’t catch any Pokémon yet; you have to deliver Oak’s package, and then, you’ll be able to continue. But consider this spot if you will have a Flying-type like Pidgey; they are always useful in adventures.

The first few Routes are equal to Fire Red, so here’s a quick resume of it: After passing through Route 1, you’ll get to Viridian City. Next, go to the store, take the package in the PokéMart and leave. Next, go to Oak’s Lab, deliver the package, and  head to Viridian once again. If you want to complete the Pokédex, remember to catch any new Pokémon you see. After that, you can train on Route 22 and fight with your rival or continue to Route 2 and get to the Viridian Forest.

Viridian Forest is also equal to the original Fire Red, but you’ll find a Shinyzer here, so you can have a Shiny Pikachu! You’ll find the spot if you head to the right (where the signs are) once you get into the forest. Continue the path until you get to a sign next to some flowers. Then, go completely to the upper right corner where the trees are. There’s the Shinyzer!

safari zone ultra violet

Another important thing in case you are going for a Pikachu, there’s a 50% possibility of finding one with a Light Ball, which doubles Pikachu’s Special Attack.  After getting out of Viridian Forest, exactly in Route 2, you’ll find a Legendary Dog laying there, waiting for you. But, unfortunately, you’ll not be able to catch it until the Post-Game.

Here you will find your first Gym Challenge, and it is agains t Brock, a Rock-type trainer. He has an Onix (Level 13) and a Geodude (Level  12). Water or Grass-types will work against him.

After this, and doing all you need to do in this city, go to Route 3. This is the only place where you can have a Jigglypuff, so catch one. Also, here’s another Shinyzer; you’ll get there going completely to the right and getting into the group of tall grass in the bottom. The Shinyzer spot is exactly in the bottom left patch.

You’ll pass Route 4 and then Mt. Moon; prepare yourself from the Zubats! The only new thing on Mt. Moon is that you can h ave both fossils from the super-nerd. You’ll be able to revive them later on 4-Points Isle.

Basically, your next task is to get to Cerulean City.

Pokémon Ultra Violet

Here you’ll find your next Gym Badge, this time against Misty; she has a Staryu (Level 18) and a Starmie (Level 21). But, again, Grass-types can do the work! Also, this is the only place where you can find Jynx, exactly by trading it with a Polywhirl in the house at the Northeast corner.

There’s not much to do here, so you have to head to Route 24, where you’ll be able to get to Bill’s house after the Nugget Bridge. His house is a cabin at the right end of the Route.

To your surprise, you’ll discover Bill has discovered how to transform people into Pokémon. He will ask you for help, and after that, he will let you enter his machine, which will transport you to a mysterious place. Unfortunately, there’s not much here, except for the only Mew you’ll find in the game. It is at Level 7, so save the game before trying to get it.

After catching Mew, it is time to continue with your adventure! The Routes between Cerulean and Vermillion City are pretty straightforward, and there are no new things there.

This is the part when you get into S.S Anne and get the Bike by listening to the Pokémon Fan Club President. Then, explore the city and head to the S.S Anne!

In the house at the center of the city, you’ll find the only Farfetch’d in the game, but you’ll need to tr ade a Spearow to get it.

S.S Anne doesn’t have any change either, so continue with your adventure as usual!

The only interesting thing in Route 11 is the only Mr. Mime available in the game; you have to trade it for an Abra to get it.

Exploring Route 11 will not take you a lot of time, and you’ll need to head back to Vermillion, this time to fight against Lt. Surge, an Electric-type trainer with Pikachu (Level 18) Raichu (Level 24), and Voltorb (Level 21). Use the TM Dig you got after exploring Cerulean, and you’ll win this battle!

To continue with the game, you have to get to the nearest house to the Docks. There, you’ll get a quest with a letter that will send you to a distant island: 4-Points Isle.

Welcome to the new part of the game and where the most interesting things will happen; 4-Points Isle. Here, the battles are completely illegal due to the religious culture of the Island. Here, you’ll find all the Gen 3 Pokémon.

The first thing you have to do is get to the house at the left of the docks. Here, a lady will give you the blue flute to thank you for traveling to the Island and give her the letter. You’ll not be able to get to the city; then, you have to trespass the guard by going thro ugh a hole in the fence next to the house.

Your first time in the town can be a bit boring, but there are some things you can do, like getting all the new Pokémon from here and exploring the Dread Mountain, where you can find Rayquaza resting at the top. Unfortunately, you aren’t strong enough to catch it as it is at level 70, but you’ll visit the place several times; don’t worry.

The next thing you have to do is getting back to Vermillion and continue with the Gym Challenge!

Route 9 is our next destination. There are no new things here. Rock Tunnel’s only chan ge is three Shinyzer spots in between two walls. To get here, you have to enter the Tunnel, then going up and to the right until you get to a Rock wall. You’ll see some rocks on the floor; between the wall and the rocks, you’ll find the Shinyzer spots.

Explore the whole cave since there will be a guy on the second floor who will teach one of your Pokémon Rockslides.  Lavender Town and the following Routes are easy to figure out, and there aren’t any changes, so you can continue freely!

Celadon City is a massive place. The first thing you need to do here is going to the shopping mall and supply your backpack there. After doing it, you can get an Eevee by going through the back of the Poké Center and getting into a door in the back of a building. We recommend buying many Repels and Ultra Balls as you’ll need them later on in the game.

Go and beat Erika, the Grass-type Gym Leader. She has Tangela (Level 24), Victreebel (Level 29), and a Vileplume (Level 29). Fire-types will help you a lot.

Lastly, you have to get into the Rocket Hideout, as usual. Your quest here is to get the Silph Scope. Now, back to Lavender Town!  The Pokémon Tower is the same as the original game; you have to rescue Mr. Fuji, and he will give you the Poké Flute. Here’s the only place where you can find a Cubone.

Now, go back to Celadon, get the tea from the old lady in the mansion, and head to the following Route to get to Saffron City.

The only change here is the unofficial Fighting-type Gym, where you can get both Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan after completing the challenge. Before doing the next Gym, you have to get into Silph Co. Again, there are no changes here. The only cool thing is that you’ll get a Lapras when you fight against your rival; he’s easy to find since he’s on your way.

Getting rid of the Rocket Team Grunts (and getting the Master Ball) will u nlock the Gym, where Sabrina is waiting for you with Kadabra and Venomoth (Level 38), Mr. Mime (Level 37), and Alakazam (Level 43). Finally, after this long quest, we have to head back to the 4-Points Isle.

safari zone ultra violet

You have to infiltrate into the town once again. But, this time, you’ll be able to buy a house there! This means that you are now a part of the residents of the Isle, and now you have access to the Catacombs.

The Catacombs are composed of a big maze. Before exploring, we recommend using the rep els you bought (obviously, after catching all the new Pokémon you can find there). However, solving the maze itself is pretty straightforward too.

After getting through the maze, you’ll be in a room with a statue on it. Talk with the statue, and you’ll get a battle against one of the Regis. To unlock the last two, you have to solve the maze by taking a different route, so it is better to write what you are doing on paper while solving the maze. Also, you have only an opportunity to catch them. So save the game before getting into the battle!

safari zone ultra violet

That’s all you can do this time; it’s time to get back to Kanto.  Head to the West of Celadon City and try to get the Snorlax sleeping on Route 16. Al so, in the path between the fences and the trees, you’ll find a way that leads you to a lady’s house, where you’ll get the HM02 Fly. After that, go through the Cycling Road as normal.

You’ll not find any other interesting thing on Route 12 ne ither beside another Snorlax, in case you didn’t catch the first one. Route 14 and 15 are pretty straightforward too.

Fuchsia City doesn’t have any kind of novelty. So the first thing you need to do here is beating Koga, which will wait for you with two Koffings (Level 37), a Muk (Level 39), and a Weezing (Level 43).  After doing that, it’s time to go to the Safari Zone. Besides catching all the new Pokémon, we have to get an important item here; some gold teeth; you’ll see them as a Poké Ball on the West side of the Safari.

Back in Fuchsia, visit the Safari Zone Warden, which is in his house on the right side of the Poké Center. He will thank you for giving back his teeth. He will reward you with Strength and Surf. With those HMs, we can get to see (and catch) Rayquaza , Kyogre, and Groudon; you can do it right now or let it for the post-game.

After being in Fuchsia, you can get to Route 10. Here’s the Power Plant where you can get Zapdos.  Our next task is to get to Cinnabar Island; for it, you can take two different paths, or getting back to Pallet Town and using Surf there, or taking the South way in Fuchsia. Both paths had interesting things.

The Pallet Town path will let you get to the only place to find a wild Bulbas aur (Route 21), while the other path will lead you to a Shinyzer on the coast (Route 19). To activate it, you’ll have to use a Rod. The exact spot is the only space looking to the water and is next to a rock wall.

But if you take Route 19, you’ll get to the Seafoam Islands, where Articuno is waiting for you.

There aren’t new things here, so you have to proceed as usual; the G ym is closed, so you have to look for the key in the Pokémon Mansion. Here’s the only place where you can find a wild Charmander.

After getting the key, it’s time to beat Blaine. His team has a Growlithe (Level 42), a Ponyta (Level 40), Arcanine (Level 47), and Rapidash (Level 41). After the battle, you’ll meet Bill again, and he will take you to Sevii Islands; you can get there before the Post-Game!

You will arrive at One Island, where the only interesting thing t o do is getting to Treasure Beach. Next, go to the docks, which will take you to Two Island. Here, you won’t do much either; the only thing to do here is getting a quest of saving a little girl that will take you to Three Island.

Three Island is full of bikers, but you have a task to do, and they are blocking your way. Get rid of them and continue. Next, you’ll see the Bond Bridge. Then, it’s time to get to the Berry Forest and find the girl.

This quest is pretty simple to do, and it won’t take you much. This deviation distracted us from the objective of getting all the Gym Badges; you only need one more. Time to fly to Viridian City!

Giovanni is waiting for us with Dugtrio (Level 42), Rhyhorn (Level 45), Nidoqueen (Level 46), Nidoking (Level 54), and another Rhyhorn (Level 50). Winning the battle will let you get your opportunity in the Pokémon League. In addition, Giovanni will give you the TM Earthquake; we will use this move later for getting a legendary Pokémon.

There’s nothing new on the Pokémon League; it is the same challenge as before. However, if you explore 4-Points Isle shortly after getting Strength and Surf, you can get Raquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon to use them on the League, making it easy. Victory Road didn’t suffer any changes either.

The Elite Four is composed of the following trainers:

  • Lorelei : Ice-type trainer with Dewgong, Lapras, Cloyster, Slowbro, and Jynx
  • Bruno: Fighting-type trainer with Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, two Onixes, and Machamp
  • Agatha: Ghost-type trainer with two Gengars, Arbok, Golbat, and Haunter
  • Lance: Dragon-type trainer with Gyarados, two Dragonair’s, Aerodactyl, and Dragonite.

Lastly, your rival will be the champion; he has Pidgeot, Rhydon, and Alakazam, and the rest of his team will var y depending on what did you choose as your starter:

  • If Bulbasaur: Arcanine, Gyarados, and Charizard.
  • If Squirtle: Exeggcutor, Arcanine, and Venusaur.
  • If Charmander: Exeggcutor, Arcanine, and Blastoise.
  • If you caught your starter: the same as Bulbasaur.

After winning the League, you’ll appear in your house in Pallet Town. The Post-Game is now available, and it will let you catch all the available legendaries. Then, we will summarize how to get them quickly!

Post-Game and the legendaries

safari zone ultra violet

Let’s start with the easiest ones. Getting the trio isn’t a hard quest, basically becaus e Dread Mountain is pretty straightforward.  Exploring the cave will lead us to the three legendaries.

There’s no way to deviate from the path to take the A stairs, leading you to the second floor. After that, you can take the B stairs by going down and to the right to get back to the main floor, but now you can explore the cave freely.

Now, you have two options; if you want to get Rayquaza, you’ll have to take the left path to the C stairs. That will lead you to the second floor. Follow the path there to get to the D stairs, and you’ll be back on the main floor. There, take the E stairs, and you’ll be on the top of the Mountain, where Rayquaza rests.

safari zone ultra violet

But if you  want to get Groudon and Kyogre, you’ll have to take the right path. For catching them, you’ll need Strength and Surf. Also, 1 is the only place where you can get a Bagon; it’ll appear after using Rock Smash.

safari zone ultra violet

The F stairs will lead you to a new room that bifurcates into two ways. Going through the right will take you to Kyogre while going to the left path will take you to Groudon. Also, in Kyogre’s path, there’s a woman who will give you two mor e fossils; Lileep and Anorith.

safari zone ultra violet

You can revive all your fossils in the lab near the Mountain.

You don’t have to leave 4-Points Isle yet. Before getting Jirachi, leave an open slot in your party. This time you have to head to Haunted Forest, at the east gate of the town.

Here, you have to head to the north until you get to the Meteor Site. For getting Jirachi, you need to have a Pokémon that has learned Earthquake. Get to the middle of the place and find the spot where a message pops, telling you that you need to use Earthquake to unlock a way through. This lets you get into a cave where an egg (with Jirachi on it) is waiting for you!

This is another quest on 4-Points Isle. This time, you have to get back to the Haunted Forest and go to the cabin on the west. Entering there will lead you to the Guardian Meadow, Latias and Latios’s home.

safari zone ultra violet

Get on the water with Surf, and explore the inner of the place. Get to the back of the meadow, and you’ll find Latias. After that, leave the place. In your way, Latios will attack you.

From here, the game is pretty much the same as the original; getting to the Mt. Ember, getting Moltres, and exploring the rest of the Sevii Islands by helping Celio getting the Ruby and the Sapphire. But this is a necessary step if you want to get the rest of the legendary Pokémon. So let’s start with the legendary dogs; Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.

safari zone ultra violet

Side Note : if you wonder how to catch Unown, all its shapes can be found in the Tanoby Ruins, located in the Seven Islands.

The first two dogs are easy to get; you have to get to the back of the Diglett’s Cave. There, you’ll find:

  • Suicune if you chose Bulbasaur or you caught your starter.
  • Raikou if you chose Charmander.
  • Entei if you chose Squirtle.

After getting the first dog, your next destination will be Rock Tunnel. There, you’ll find:

  • Raikou if you chose Bulbasaur or you caught your starter.
  • Entei if you chose Charmander.
  • Suicune if you chose Squirtle.

The last legendary dog is roaming through Kanto. Good luck finding it!

To get Ho-Oh, Lugia and Deoxys, you have to head to the PokéMarts on Six and Seven Islands and buy the Aura and Mystic Ticket. Then, they will lead you to Navel Rock, where Ho-Oh and Lugia are waiting for you, or to Birth Island, where Deoxys is looking for a challenge!

Navel Rock is a small place. If you go upstairs, you’ll find Ho-Oh, and if you go downstairs, you’ll find Lugia. Birth Island is a weird place. All you’ll find there is a black triangle. You have to touch it until it gets red, and then Deoxys will appear.

The last Legendary Pokémon left is Mewtwo. It can be found in Cerulean Cave, its usual place. After getting Mewtwo, you can proudly say the game is over, and you caught all the Pokémon available!  If there’s a Pokémon you can’t find, the developers did an exhaustive guide of where to find all the Pokémon in the game. You can also check where are the exact spot of the Shinyzers. Take a look at it here:

safari zone ultra violet

Answer: The cool thing about Pokémon Ultra Violet is that you are can have all Pokémon from the first three Gen. Exactly, they are 386 Pokémon.

Answer: It is a great game because it lets you catch all the first three Gen Pokémon while messing around the original Fire Red Story; all the new things are added naturally, and you don’t feel like they are forced into the game.

Answer: There’s a great feature about Pokémon Ultra Violet; you can choose a Starter Pokémon from a long list. The best ones here are Dratini, Larvitar, and Trapinch, while the game can be pretty difficult if you choose Gastly as your starter.

Sometimes, as a Pokémon fangame creator, it’s hard to create something original and wait for people to like it. This is why we feel Pokémon Ultra Violet nailed it; the creators took Pokémon Fire Red, and with some little tweaks, they made it into something almost perfect that seems like it is an official game.

We want to recommend this game for those who like to play fangames and are looking for an adventure that focuses on catching and collecting every Pokémon instead of having difficult battles.

Pokemon BDSP Getting Defog from Great Marsh

Upon entering the Great Marsh, you'll find an Ace Trainer to your right. Talk to the trainer to get the TM Defog .

This move is very important in order for you to progress through the game so don't forget to get this TM!

Great Marsh Guide and Mechanics

How to enter the great marsh.

You'll find a gate to the Great Marsh at the northern area of Pastoria City . You need to pay a ₽500 fee before you can enter the Great Marsh. Talk to the receptionist and pay the fee to receive 30 Safari Balls , which you can use to capture Pokemon inside the Great Marsh Safari Zone.

The session will end if you use up all 30 Safari Balls or take more than 500 steps.

Some Pokemon in the Great Marsh Change Daily

Six special Pokemon will appear everyday, one for each area of the Great Marsh. Take note that you may have the same special Pokemon for different areas . These six Pokemon change daily and some are exclusive to the Great Marsh.

To view the Daily Pokemon found in the Great Marsh, you can look through the binoculars on the second floor of the lobby. It will only show a random Pokemon from 5 of the areas in the Great Marsh, so you may need to look through it several times to find all six of your Daily Pokemon.

Changing the date on your Nintendo Switch will not affect the Daily Pokemon in the Great Marsh.

View Pokemon in the Great Marsh with Binoculars

Great Marsh Binoculars

You can view the Pokemon you can encounter in all the areas in the Great Marsh by going to the second floor of the lobby in the building and paying ₽100 to use the binoculars. All 3 Binoculars can scan the entire Great Marsh , so it does not matter which one you choose.

Each time you view the binoculars, you will be shown 5 Pokemon from 5 of the different areas in the Great Marsh. There is a chance that you could view one of your 6 Daily Pokemon from the binoculars. If you do not find any of your Daily Pokemon, you can pay another ₽100 to look through the binoculars again.

List of Great Marsh Binocular Backgrounds

The binoculars will show you Pokemon from 5 random areas of the Great Marsh, so it may be difficult to tell what area you are looking at through the binoculars. You can use this list of binocular backgrounds to find out what area each one corresponds to.

Throwing Ball, Bait, and Mud

Great Marsh Encounter

While scouring for Pokemon in the Great Marsh, encounters inside the area will be different. When engaged in a Pokemon battle, your choices will be Ball, Bait, Mud, and Run.

Throwing Bait at a Pokemon will make the Pokemon more likely to runaway from the encounter, but makes it easier to catch the Pokemon.

On the other hand, throwing Mud at a Pokemon will make it harder to catch , but also decreases the chance that it flees the battle.

Throwing Safari Ball is the safest to catch Pokemon

Simply throwing a Safari Ball is the safest way to catch Pokemon in the Great Marsh, as it does not change any catch or flee rates of the Pokemon you will encounter.

Ride the Train to Travel Between Areas

Great Marsh Train

Ride the train inside the Great Marsh to travel between locations quickly instead of navigating through the bogs and swamps of the areas. The train and the stations can be found in the middle of the Great Marsh.

Avoid Stepping in Bogs

Great Marsh Sinking in Bog

Stepping in the bogs in the swampy areas of the Great Marsh will cause you to sink. You need to move around in order to get out of it, but that movement uses up the limited steps you're allotted inside the area.

Be sure to avoid these bogs to save up on steps, as you are only allowed to take 500 inside the Great Marsh.

Use Sweet Scent to not Waste Steps

BDSP - Use Sweet Scent in the Great Marsh

While in the Great Marsh, you are only allowed to take up to 500 steps before the Safai Game ends. Instead of using those steps to walk around grass patches, you can bring a Pokemon with the move Sweet Scent . While standing in a patch of grass, use Sweet Scent to instantly encounter a Pokemon.

>>10 Yeah, I've confirmed this now, you are not guaranteed to get a post-National Dex daily Pokemon. This makes catching that last one you need all the most obnoxious.

I used the binoculars about 50 times and didn't see a single post-National Dex daily Pokemon. I'm starting to think the Marsh isn't always guaranteed to have one, or the list is wrong.

Today we’re looking at the Pokemon Ultra Violet Version, a rom hack of Fire Red version that opens up a whole new world for players to explore. This exciting game offers new events, new locations, and the ability to catch every single pokemon from the first three generations.

Pokemon Ultra Violet Version: A New Take on a Classic Pokemon Game

The Pokemon Ultra Violet rom is a classic in the community, and while it hasn’t been edited in years, it still makes a perfect rom for newcomers to the scene. Is it the best pokemon game out there? No, but it does offer some incredible improvements to the base game.

What can you expect in Pokemon Ultra Violet Version?

  • Catch all the pokemon from the first three generations of the game.
  • Explore a massive new island with pokemon from the Hoenn region.
  • A few new events to spice up the gameplay.
  • A brand new title screen.
  • A few new and exciting features.
  • Alternate starting pokemon.

Some rom hacks put you in a completely new game in the pokemon universe. Pokémon Ultra Violet doesn’t attempt to do this. Instead, it refurbishes the classic Gameboy Advance game, Pokemon Fire Red version, and gives an exciting way to revisit the Kanto region.

The inspiration behind Ultra Violet was to create a game where you could catch every pokemon without having to trade between Fire Red version and Leaf Green. The creator, LocksmithArmy, decided that first and second-generation pokemon weren’t enough, so they added in gen 3 as well.

Since romhacks are played solo, the normal formula for cooperation in pokemon games doesn’t fit. With Pokemon Ultra Violet Version, you can finally “catch ’em all” by yourself.

WARNING! Pokemon Ultra Violet Rom doesn’t have the easiest setup. You’ll first have to track down a safe copy of the patch to download. Then you’ll have to apply the patch to a rom of Pokemon Fire Red Version 1.0 . Any other rom download will not apply the patch successfully, and you won’t be able to make it past the title screen.

Pokemon Ultra Violet Gameplay

Pokemon Ultra Violet starts like any other pokemon game. You’ll see a flashy new title screen, with the game title and a picture of Mew, and then start talking with Professor Oak about the world of pokemon.

Starting Your Adventure

Once you begin the game, you’ll be able to choose a starter pokemon. Of course, in this game, you aren’t stuck between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Once Oak lets you choose, you can talk to him to initiate a new feature: catching your first pokemon.

You’ll be sent to a mini version of the safari zone, a lab on a hidden map where Oak and his team observe rare pokemon in the wild. You’ll then be able to catch one of these nine pokemon in safari balls, using bait and rocks if necessary. (You do have a limited number of safari balls, so be careful.)

If you’re looking to choose a random starter, but don’t want to leave it up to the game’s odds, we suggest rolling a d12 (just type roll a d12 into google) and going after the appropriate pokemon on the following list.

  • Gastly (Just a suggestion, this one’s difficult to gain XP early in the game)

Journeying Through Kanto

The actual process of collecting all 8 badges and taking down every rocket hideout hasn’t changed much from the original Nintendo release on the Gameboy Advance.

Of course, keen players might still spot a few differences. Your rival, for example, actually says that Raticate has passed away when you confront him at the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town. It’s a subtle nod to the popular theory and one that avid fans will enjoy.

One of the first things you might just miss is the ability to grab both the dome and helix fossils when you go through Mt. Moon. You don’t have to leave the other extinct pokemon sitting around! Just grab them both up and revive them once you get to Cinnabar Island.

The battle system hasn’t changed entirely, but again, there are some small differences you might notice. Gyarados, for example, is now a Water/Dragon type, instead of Water/Flying.

Everything on ‘continental’ Kanto may remain mostly untouched, but naturally, you’ll find the improvements as you play. Version exclusives from Leaf Green and Fire Red are both catchable, making this feel like what could’ve been if we had a 3rd gen ‘Water’ Blue Version.

Items are also a bit more prevalent, as you’ll need access to enough evolution items to fill out your pokedex. This includes more rare items that didn’t make it into red, green, or blue versions, like sun stones, upgrades, and more.

The real fun begins outside of Kanto though.

4-Point Isle: A new Island quest

Once you make it to Vermillion City (not Vir million city) and have completed the S.S. Anne, you can embark on a new adventure. If you go to the southernmost house, just to the left of the dock, you’ll find a young girl asking you to deliver a letter.

Accepting this quest will send you directly to 4-point Isle, a place you should get accustomed to throughout your time in Pokemon Ultra Violet. This new island is the only place in the game where you can catch pokemon from the Hoenn region .

There are many pieces to this island, which you can gradually unlock as you complete more and more of the game. The main unlocking points are as follows:

  • Complete S.S. Anne – Unlock 4-Point Isle Town, Dread Mountain Prairie, Dread Mountain
  • Defeat Team Rocket at Silph Co. – Unlock Catacombs (a maze with a new layout for you to enjoy)
  • Obtain Strength and Surf – Unlock more of Dread Mountain
  • Obtaining Earthquake (Defeating the 8th Gym) – Unlock Haunted Forest, Meteor Site
  • Defeat Elite Four and Rival – Unlock Guardian Meadows

You’ll find all Hoenn pokemon throughout this unique Pokemon Ultra Violet map, including rare pokemon residing in some hidden locations. We’ll cover more on those later, though, when we discuss where to find every pokemon in the game.

Guaranteed Shiny Pokemon

One of the most exciting new features this game brings is the ability to find shiny pokemon with ease. To originally acquire a shiny pokemon, you’d have to slug through hours of play until the odds rolled up in your favor. This normally takes a while, considering the odds in Fire Red and Leaf Green are 1 in 8,192.

You can still find a shiny in a random location. However, the new ‘shinyizers’ in Pokemon Ultra Violet Version allow you to guarantee shinies.

Scattered across the map are special tiles that give the next pokemon you encounter a 100% chance of being shiny. As far as we can tell, there are 18 of these shinyizers spread across the entire game.

We’ll tell you where the first one is, and remember, you can always use this spot to get full shiny odds.

Essentially, this is the only spot you’ll ever need to know. With clever movement and some repels, you can guarantee any shiny you want. Use moves like Fly and Dig to get where you need to be, and then just repel your way to the pokemon you’re looking to catch.

The first shinyizer you’ll come across is just inside Route 1, above the first ledge. The picture below has Ultra standing where you need to be. And yes, this does mean one of your first pokemon can be shiny. Hope you enjoy!

All Pokemon Locations in Pokemon Ultra Violet

Part of the intent and fun of the Pokemon Ultra Violet Rom is catching every single pokemon from the first three generations and filling your pokedex. To do this, you’ll have to search through the entire game, leaving no stone unturned.

But hey, sometimes we can get a bit stuck tracking down that final pokemon. So, we’ve included detailed catching guides on any of the tougher pokemon to track down in this new game.

Regular Pokemon

Almost every pokemon from the first generation can be found in the wild. Any pokemon that were previously version-exclusive can be found in this game since there is no fictitious rival game.

As for all the rest of the common pokemon, you’ll find them on various islands.

The second generation pokemon, in keeping with the original Nintendo release, can be found on the Sevii Islands. The gaps from the Fire Red have been filled in, so you can now catch all 100 pokemon introduced in Johto.

The gen 3 pokemon are almost entirely found on the new 4-Point Isle. Since this island is exclusive to the Pokemon Ultra Violet rom, we highly suggest exploring it as much as possible.

Rare Pokemon

The pokemon listed below aren’t necessarily legendary pokemon, but they can be hard to track down, even in a completionist game like the Pokemon Ultra Violet rom.

To be clear, I’ll only be going over pokemon that have new locations in this game. Something like the game corner Dratini, or the Jynx for Poliwhirl trade in Cerulean city won’t be covered here.

Starter Pokemon

The Pokemon Ultra Violet rom removes the necessity to trade your first pokemon several times just to fill the pokedex. All nine starter pokemon from the first three generations can be found in logical locations across the map.

  • Bulbasaur – Route 21
  • Charmander – Pokemon Mansion
  • Squirtle – Seafoam Islands
  • Chikorita – Five Isle Meadow
  • Cyndaquil – Mt. Ember
  • Totodile – Water Path
  • Treecko – Dread Mountain (Outside)
  • Torchic – Meteor Site
  • Mudkip – 4-Point Isle (Dock)

Karate Master Pokemon

While technically, you could breed the fighting pokemon Tyrogue and then evolve it in Fire Red, the Pokemon Ultra Violet rom makes this a lot easier. Once you defeat the Karate Master, you can collect both Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.

Again, multiple eeveelutions are normally locked behind breeding. Instead, the Pokemon Ultra Violet rom makes Eevee a Game Corner prize.

OManyte and Kabuto

Normally, when you find extinct pokemon chilling in Mt. Moon, you’re forced to only take one. The Pokemon Ultra Violet rom allows you to take both, allowing you to eventually revive both Omanyte and Kabuto.

Anorith and Lileep

On your second visit to Dread Mountain, you’ll be able to find a man mining for fossils, and he’ll share one of each with you. You can then have them revived at the lab on 4-Point Isle

Legendary Pokemon

Again, we’ll only be covering legendary pokemon that aren’t in their normal places.

Once you encounter Bill at his house, you can go through the teleporter to the left (he’ll even tell you to do so). Doing this will send you to a special island where you can encounter a level 7 Mew. Be careful to drop a save file, as you might need to do a game reset or two to catch it.

Legendary Dogs

Once you’ve completed the Ruby/Sapphire quest offered to you by Celio of One Island, many legendary pokemon events are unlocked. The legendary dogs’ locations are determined by your first pokemon.

The roaming dogs aren’t easy to track down, so just go through every route or search through some other logical manner.

If you started with Bulbasaur or a caught pokemon, you’ll find:

  • Suicune on Route 2 behind Diglett’s Cave
  • Raikou in Rock Tunnel
  • Entei roaming Kanto

If you started with Charmander, you’ll find:

  • Raikou on Route 2 behind Diglett’s Cave
  • Entei in Rock Tunnel
  • Suicune roaming Kanto

If you started with Squirtle, you’ll find:

  • Entei on Route 2 behind Diglett’s Cave
  • Suicune in Rock Tunnel
  • Raikou roaming Kanto

Regirock, Regice, and Registeel can all be found at the end of the Catacombs on 4-Point Isle. You’ll only get a shot to catch each once.

The Weather trio

Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza can all be found in Dread Mountain on 4-Point Isle. Be warned, they’re at higher levels than you need to be to encounter them.

Latios and Latias

Once you’ve unlocked the Guardian Meadows on 4-Point Isle, you can encounter both Latios and Latias.

Jirachi can be found inside an egg at the meteor site. You’ll need to have a pokemon that knows Earthquake and an empty slot in your party to collect it.

Ho-Oh and Lugia

In keeping with the original Nintendo event, you’ll catch these two box-art legendaries. You can find the ticket at the Pokemart on Six Island.

Deoxys can be captured by collecting the mystic ticket on Seven Island and traveling to Birth Island.

The celebi event is in the Berry Forest. Be warned! Don’t catch celebi the first time. If you faint it, you’ll get a Pichu with Volt Tackle. Killing Celebi is completely fine since it respawns after you defeat the Elite Four again.

Pokemon Ultra Violet is a great game if you find Fire Red to be a timeless classic. The improvements it offers over the regular version give you plenty of room to become the Pokemon Master you’ve always dreamed of being.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA

Gagarin cup (khl) finals:  atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.

Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final.  While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut.  Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so.  But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd.

This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime.  Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30).  Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date.  Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles:  Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30.  In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans:  Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.

For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship.  The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize.  The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it.  Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that.

The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth.  There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat.  Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role.

I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games.  They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL.  They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.

  • Atlant @ Ufa, Friday Apr 8 (3:00 PM CET/10:00 PM EST)
  • Atlant @ Ufa, Sunday Apr 10 (1:00 PM CET/8:00 AM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Tuesday Apr 12 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Thursday Apr 14 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)

Games 5-7 are as yet unscheduled, but every second day is the KHL standard, so expect Game 5 to be on Saturday, like an early start.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

safari zone ultra violet

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

safari zone ultra violet

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

safari zone ultra violet

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

safari zone ultra violet

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
