We took the 2 hour, Segway tour through Mt. Pleasant and it was terrific! We're experienced Segway riders and were still given great training on the do's/don'ts of things. The path was smooth and easy to maneuver with no problems. The tour guide was excellent-he knew general history and told unique stories with obscure, tidbits of information. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! It's a wonderful way to see the town! I highly recommend!!!!

Great tour by Cliff. So much fun and history and local charm. The tour included new and historical homes of Mount Pleasant. Step back in time at the local square and pharmacy.

Save yourselves some time and money. These reviews are misleading! This is not a good tour. Note that I'm rating the tour itself, as a tourist experience, and not the guide. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. That's about the only positive. The location of the tour is bad. After a long ride from the parking lot to the village, you will see all there is to see in the Old Village in about 15 minutes. No photo ops here! Just gets boring from there. The Segways are pretty basic and appear old. There is no office, it's just a storage shack in the back of a parking lot so don't hope you'll have a chance to cool off. We've been on Segway tours in several large cities and had entirely different expectations. We love getting on Segways but were mislead by the good reviews. "Best tour yet"?? Give me a break!!!

This is a great, different, way to tour the Charleston area. Though you will not go downtown you do get to tour the great old homes and area of Mt Pleasant. Super fun to ride the Segways and our tour guide/owner operator TAC was a great guide and very knowledable about the area. He was also very patient with one of our riders who was very scared and took all the time necessary to train him correctly, but never took time off of our tour time to do so. Book this tour, it is great and inexpensive for a Segway tour. (We have been on several)

AMAZING customer service. I purchased a gift certificate from Connecticut for my parents and even being states away they were able to deliver the gift card via PDF/email. I made an error and left out my parents names when ordering so it was blank on the PDF. Once they knew I was on a time constraint and needed it fixed they went above and beyond to deliver this and sent me a text message to make sure everything was good (knowing it would be a quicker means of communicating). My parents are so excited for their trip, and I know this company will make it worth it.

We had a great tour, our tour guide was very nice had a lot of info on the history of charleston , a little more then i wanted to know about the builders of the homes but it was still a very nice tour we went in the morning and it was nice not to hot we did the 2 hour tour , he also took us to let us just ride around . Will go again. There is No restroom but he took us later to one

We took the Segway tour today and it was a WONDERFUL experience. Cliff was so patient and fun and knew so much about the town. This was my first time on a Segway and will do it again for sure mostly because Cliff made me so comfortable!! Thank you Segway of Charleston!!

This was a wonderful tour. Our tour guide Lagare' was just wonderful. The knowledge of history was so informative & interesting! The Segway was easy to operate. I would highly recommend this tour! Oh, forgot to mention, customer service was amazing. They sure care about their customers!!

Note, this really is not Segway of Charleston, it is really Segway of Mount Pleasant. However, the guide gave an informative tour. Since we were not in crowded areas, we good really go fast and play on the Segways.

We went on a tour today; however it is not a tour of Charleston. The gentleman that did the tour knew a lot of history about the neighboring area of Mount Pleasant. The tour was two hours without getting off and we only stopped so he could talk.

The Lowcountry, Village, & Charleston in Media

Literature, music, & theatre.

From Edgar Allen Poe's stories & poetry, to George Gershwin & DeBose Heyward's "Porgy & Bess", to the books & stories of Josephine Humphreys and Pat Conroy, Charleston and the Lowcountry have long been a muse in popular American culture and the arts.

segway tour charleston sc

Many television series have been filmed in the Lowcountry (even when standing in for settings that are not local). Everything from the drama of "Outer Banks" and the "reality" of "Southern Charm" to many period miniseries such as "North and South" have been shot or are still being shot here.

The Lowcountry has served as inspiration for sets, story lines. and filming locations from such varied movies as "Gone with the Wind", "The Notebook", "Forest Gump", "Lord of Discipline, and "Rich in Love".

A New Take On Old Village (with a Segway)

Sightseeing is a regular activity for those who visit the Charleston area. Families can spend sunny weekends at Patriots Point exciting evenings perusing the historic shops of downtown Charleston. But when it comes down to it, we’ve all done the tours and the exploring (by foot). Some of us may be tired of walking around for hours at a time, which is why the Cassina Group highly suggests a day trip to the Old Village — but not any regular trip. It’s time to get a new take on traveling and roam about the historic area of Mt. Pleasant on a segway.

Video by Segway of Charleston

Old village tours on segways.

Segway of Charleston offers different tours of the Old Village area in Mt. Pleasant, including a trip around the bay. At times, you’ll roll up to historic mansions or head over to Shem Creek, where you can watch the shrimp trawlers. You’ll even come to understand why George Washington wrote in his journal that Charleston was one of the most beautiful places in America.

If having amazing views of Charleston, Fort Sumter, Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse, and Shem Creek sound like a real trip, then gear up for a segway tour. The Old Village area has always been a treasure among local residents. It’s history and location provide families and neighbors a chance to admire the shining waters and beautiful architecture. It’s a place people dream of.

Forget the car and forget walking. Breathe in the history and beauty of Old Village and take a segway tour today. The weather is beautiful and ready to give one of the best memories you’ll ever have.

Hilton Head is one of Charleston's Barrier Islands, but there are plenty more to explore! If you want to escape the city life, check out one (or a few) of Charleston's Barrier Islands! They are great for a more laid-back and quintessential beach experience. A fun fact about barrier islands is that they protect the mainland from ocean waves, tides, currents, wind, and storms. Edisto Island one of Charleston's Barrier Islands

On your trip, explore the historic Castillo de San Marcos and enjoy the beautiful beaches. St. Augustine is another great city for a ghost tour as it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the continental US. However, if ghost tours are not for you, there are other tours you can get tickets for to explore and learn more about this historic city.

A white lighthouse with a black lantern room at the top pokes through the branches of green trees. There is a blue sky in the background. The lighthouse is located at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum.

Remember those stories about Ponce de León and the Fountain of Youth from elementary school? Well, you can find it in St. Augustine, but it is just a natural spring. Moreover, one of the best times to visit is for Nights of Lights, where three million lights adorn the historic district for two months! This year Nights of Lights will be held from November 18, 2023, to January 31, 2024. With that, hotel prices will be higher, and it will be a bit more crowded during this time.

We had a great time touring parts of the city and hearing about history and interesting facts from our guide Lucas. The segways were remarkably easy to ride. Great way to spend the afternoon!

Wow! I have lived in Charlotte 10 years and have never enjoyed the city as much as I did on our Segway tour with Rod! An out of town friend wanted to do something different so we decided, SEGWAY TOUR!

Our tour guide, Josh was fantastic!!!! We learned so much and had an absolute blast!!! We didn't want the tour to end!!!!Thank you so much!!!! Best experience of our trip to Charlotte, North Carolina!!!!

My hubby and I had our friends in from Tampa and we thought a Segway tour would be the best way to show them the city! From the start, Carol was super helpful with our booking and when we arrived for our trip the next morning, we were welcomed by the vibrant James! He was like a jolt of espresso mixed with a slice of stand up comedy!
