Power metal isn’t usually the kind of genre of music that I am interested in seeing live, as I don’t listen to that much of it, but a friend dragged me along to a Stratovarius concert, and I was absolutely mesmerised. To start with, the Finnish band are all extremely talented musicians, who are real masters of their respective instruments.

The band have had several line up changes over their career, but the set up that they had when I saw them perform live was awesome, and all of the musicians seemed really tight in their performance. There were some absolutely incredible instrumental solos throughout the performance, and the more the audience cheered, the longer they would continue for, which was epic and something you really can’t experience from a recording.

They mainly played from their newest album Nemesis, as well as revisiting some of the older hits, as there were some long time fans at the concert, and the band seemed conscious of pleasing everyone, which was great. They were wonderful at getting the audience to join in, and cut off their vocals occasionally in their choruses to allow the crowd to fill it in. They will definitely convert you into a fan if you’re not already.

One of the best concerts in my life!! An unforgettable experience at meet&greet! Every one of the band members was so kind and friendly and very openhearted! It was my pleasure to see them performing live! The best part of the show was the last song "Hunting High and Low", were they sung with the crowd! Stratovarius is one of the greatest bands on the planet and it would be a shame not to see them if they are in your country.

The band was awesome, as always. But the place they choose to play ... oh boy .... it is like an abandoned building, not comfortable whatsoever.

If I'm not mistaken they came to Poland, 5 years ago, and the vocalist commented that it was 15, for sure they don't remember when the place is that bad ...

Hope to see the in Warsaw again, but in a better concert hall.

Waited 16 years for this day, amazing concert, great bands , nice venue, only the price of a guinness drive me mad: 4.90 a can of guinness??? Seriously??? Its weird pay 30 for a ticket and 5 quid for a can of beer, not even a pint

STRATOVARIUS And SONATA ARCTICA Announce 'Nordic Power Metal Titans' Fall 2023 European Tour

Since putting their mark on the map of heavy music in the mid/late-'90s, Finnish melodic metal whirlwinds SONATA ARCTICA have consistently expanded their following, not only by releasing a colorful range of works (ten studio albums, two acoustic albums etc.),but also by performing countless shows. The quintet — vocalist Tony Kakko , guitarist Elias Viljanen , bass player Pasi Kauppinen , Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg on keyboards and drummer Tommy Portimo — have gathered sumless fans worldwide, becoming figureheads of the power metal genre. And they keep riding the wave of success as highlighted by their recent "25th Anniversary Tour" across Latin America where many venues could hang "sold out" signs at their doors! After visiting the European clubs as part of another "Acoustic Adventures" run last winter, SONATA ARCTICA will now return to the continent's stages with an electric setting alongside fellow countrymen STRATOVARIUS (the self-named "Kings Of Power Metal"),who will be bringing tunes from their 2022 output "Survive" besides many classic tracks, this autumn. While both bands are preparing co-headlining sets for the 24-show tour (two dates will be announced at a later point) which stands under the slogan "Nordic Power Metal Titans" , international symphonic power metal upstarts INDUCTION are confirmed as the support act to present their sophomore record "Born From Fire" (released on November 25, 2022 via Atomic Fire Records ). This touring package is an ultimate must-see for all melodic/power metal fanatics.

SONATA ARCTICA keyboardist Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg states: "We're very excited to be back on the road playing power metal and on top of that we get to co-headline with our friends from STRATOVARIUS ! The first tour SONATA ARCTICA did back in 2000 was with those same guys, so it will be amazing to do it once again 23 years later, especially for those of us who weren't there the first time around. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience...for the second time!"

Generell sind Konzerte in der matrix immer ganz gut, vorrausgesetzt der Sound stimmt. Die Hitze in der Tube ist gerade so aushaltbar, die Getränkepreise sind ok und man kommt immer ganz gut hin und wieder weg. Diesmal jedoch war ich richtig sauer, denn die Uhrzeiten auf der Karte stimmten nicht mit dem tatsächlichen Beginn überein. So kamen wir zum Ende der ersten Vorband, die laut Ticket noch gar nicht hätten anfangen dürfen. Natürlich hätte man im Internet nachgucken können, jedoch hatte ich aufgrund eines Umzuges noch kein Internet in meiner Wohnung. Selbst Schuld? Finde ich nicht. Davon abgesehen war das Konzert klasse, was allerdings nur an den Bands lag und nicht an Ticketservice noch veranstaltungsort.

Selten so eine tolle Vorgruppe gesehen. Ich hoffe, man hört noch viel von denen. Tolle Musiker und ein gigantischer Sänger. Stratovarius ist ohnehin immer klasse

Die Show blieb leider hinter den Erwartungen zurück was hauptsächlich daran lag, dass die einzelnen Instrumente was Lautstärke und Abstimmung aufeinander betraf, katastrophal abgestimmt waren. Zum Teil eliminierten sich die Instrumente gegenseitig, der Gesang ging zeitweise unter.

Unfortunately we have some bad news. Henjo and Michael won’t make it to the tour in April in Latin/South America. Henjo was badly hit by a car 3 months ago and had several ribs and bones broken. He is recovering well but some of the ribs are still making problems and will need some more time to heal properly. The doctors said he should not fly until everything is all right.

The only thing I knew was that I wanted to go on making music and fulfil my vision of the songs I had,” says Kai Hansen about forming  GAMMA RAY  after leaving Helloween in 1988 – a vision that paid off.

For over 30 years and with a total of eleven studio albums, the Hamburg-based power metal band built around bandleader Kai Hansen has influenced and shaped the genre. The expressiveness of their music is also reflected in their energetic live shows, which was impressively captured on their long player “30 Years Live Anniversary” (2021).

With “ Blast From The Past” , the German power metal icons  GAMMA RAY  return to their beginnings and revisit their first 10 years. The album with Kai Hansen on vocals is a cross-section of their studio albums released between 1990 and 1999.

“We said [to our fans]: ‘Choose three songs from each album'”, remembers Kai Hansen and the results formed  “Blast From The Past” , originally released in 2000 and long out of print.

All songs have been  remastered  by producer Eike Freese for this  reissue edition  and it includes  extensive liner notes  by UK journalist Dave Everley (Kerrang!, Louder, Prog, Metal Hammer, amongst others). Based on an interview conducted with Kai Hansen, they provide an insight into the making of the album and the band’s history over the first 10 years.

Today , “Blast From The Past”  with its iconic album cover by Derek Riggs (Iron Maiden) is finally available again. Along with the  Limited 3CD Digipak Edition  (including the rare “Skeletons & Majesties” mini-album as a bonus), the album is released digitally and  for the first time ever on Vinyl LP .

In 20 powerful songs  GAMMA RAY ‘s  Kai Hansen  (lead vocals, guitar) , Dirk Schlächter  (bass) , Henjo Richter  (guitar) and  Daniel Zimmermann  (drums) underscore once again their status as  one of the most important power metal bands of the last three decades .

Furthermore, the show recorded for this album has taken place as a Live Streaming Event the band has arranged during the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. “30 YEARS LIVE ANNIVERSARY” will be out as a limited 3xLP on coloured vinyl + Blu-ray (each of the 3 LPs on a different vinyl colour, not available in the US), a 3xLP on black vinyl + Blu-ray (will come without the Blu-ray in the US), a Digipak 2xCD + DVD, and a digital release of course.

Dear Fans, as you might remember last year we had a live streaming show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of GammaRay. First we thought we could do some more real live shows with the special guests – Ralf Scheepers and Corvin Bahn – by the beginning of 2021. It’s still not possible to play live shows unfortunately and at the moment nobody knows when we can do a tour again. So we decided to make a Double Live CD of this show in the ISS Dome. This extraordinary event in Düsseldorf on the 27th of August last year was recorded without an audience. What’s a live show without you, the fans???

So here it comes – we need your help to make this really special:
