Review of Thimble Islands. Reviewed December 18, 2015. I paddled my kayak with a buddy around the Thimble Islands in early May. It was cold and the wind was blowing. The currents are strong and the water was cold, so be sure you are properly prepared. Most of the islands seem to be just big rocks-- some with homes on them.
