‘Tour Tuesdays’ series resumes Oct. 10 for four weeks

By CSU MarComm Staff

CSU Powerhouse

Fall Tour Tuesday kicks off Oct. 10 with a stellar four-week lineup.

Originally launched in June 2022, the tour series is back with 13 behind-the-scenes tour locations that give attendees a backstage look at spaces that aren’t often scene by the public.

Discover how hydroponic lettuce is grown for the dining centers, or head over to the annual Flower Trial Gardens to see common favorites and an array of exotic plants and flowers.

Bring your appetite to the nutrition and fermentation programs, explore CSU’s sustainability, or learn about how CSU fights food insecurity at the Rams Against Hunger Food Pantry and bring items to donate to help our CSU community.

Other offerings

Go behind the scenes in the Biology Building to view a 13,000-specimen collection of mammals and birds, or head backstage at the University Center for the Arts to learn about music, theatre, and dance venues.

Explore the biggest walk-in closet in the Rockies, learn about research and development on energy and climate solution topics at the Powerhouse Energy Campus, or see how CSU works to fulfill the needs of older adults in higher education at the Healthy Aging Center.

Plus, tour guests will have the opportunity to learn about more than 100 years of the CSU weather station, head into the vault where the University’s art collection is stored or learn how the future is being designed and built within several prototype labs. There are tours for every interest and new topics for anyone to explore.

We are housed in the Department of Psychology and the College of Natural Sciences. The main buildings affiliated with the program are the Behavioral Sciences Building (BSB), Clark Building, CSU Health Network, and Sage Hall.

The BSB is where many of the classes you will be taking in the program take place. The BSB is a great place for interdisciplinary collaboration, where you can interact with colleagues from other programs.

The Clark Building is where many of our graduate student offices are. In your first year in the program, you get the opportunity to share an office space with the other members of your cohort, where you get to bond and connect with your friends in the program.

CSU Health Network

CSU’s Health Network houses the university counseling center on campus. Graduate students in their second year of the program complete their first practicum at the Health Network. While at the Health Network, you can complete individual therapy with college-aged students, supervised by a licensed psychologist or by members of your cohort.

Sage Hall

Sage Hall houses the Psychological Services Center (PSC). The PSC is a community mental health agency affiliated with the Department of Psychology at CSU. Advanced students in the program complete their second practicums at this site. The PSC is also close to The Oval, so be sure to enjoy relaxing in the green grass while you’re in between clients!

Texas Shuts Out and Dominates Colorado State in Season Opener

  • Texas Longhorns

AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns season is finally off an running, and through one half of play, they hold the advantage.

That said, it hasn't all been smooth sailling.

After a promising start to their first drive, a penalty from center Jake Majors halted things in their tracks, forcing the Longhorns to punt.

Longhorn

The defense was up to the task, however, forcing a quick three and out to get the ball back to Quinn Ewers and company.

On their next possession, the Longhorns took advantage, marching down the field behind a balanced attack, and taking the lead on a Tre Wisner touchdown from a couple of yards out.

On their next chance, the Horns came up short, however, with a Ewers pass getting tipped at the line, and intercepted by the Rams.

Fortunately for the Horns, the defense remained rock solid, stopping the Rams in their tracks yet again. And on the very next possession, the Horns extended their lead with a Bert Auburn field goal, to make the score 10-0 early in the second quarter.

One drive later, the Longhorns were back on track, with Ewers hitting Matthew Golden for each players first touchdown of the season, and giving Texas a 17-0 lead with just under six minutes to play in the half.

Things went south for Colorado State after that, with Jahdae Barron intercepting a Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi pass to set the Horns up with great field position across midfield.

Just a few plays later, the Longhorns were in the end zone once again, with Ewers hitting Isaiah Bond for his first Longhorns touchdown.

A quick three and out on the next Rams possession gave Texas the ball back with around one minute to play in the half with great field position once again, thanks to a fantastic 35-yard return from transfer receiver Silas Bolden.

Texas once again took advantage from there, with Ewers hitting Golden for their second scoring connection of the game, and giving the Horns a 31-0 halftime lead.

The Horns will hope to finish off the Rams for good early in the second half, and get their reserve players some much needed in-game reps the rest of the way.

Longhorn

In the second half, it was more of the same for the Longhorns, with the defense stifeling the Rams offense on their first drive, and forcing a punt.

On the next possession, Texas took advantage yet again, running ball with authority and taking a 38-0 lead on a Jerrick Gibson touchdown from inside the five - the first in the young career for the Texas Longhorns true freshman running back.

After the drive, Ewers finished his day with an impressive stat line of 20 of 27 completions for 260 yards and three scores, with one interception.

Following the Longhorns' score, the second-team offense entered the game, led by redshirt freshman QB Arch Manning, and on his very first drive of the season, the young gunslinger showed exactly what has people so excited about his future.

On his first pass of the season, Manning hit Johntay Cook on a 40-yard dart on the run, setting Texas up deep in Rams territory. Just a couple of plays later, Manning got his first career touchdown pass, hitting Bolden on a nifty pass on a scramble for the score, extending the Horns lead to 45-0.

Manning got the ball into the end zone for the Horns once again on the next drive, sneaking it in on fourth and one to put Texas up 52-0, and putting the icing on the cake

From there, the Longhorns would polish off the game, cementing a win in their season opener, and moving to 1-0.

Texas will now turn its attention to their massive matchup with the No. 9 Michigan Wolverines next Saturday in Ann Arbor, with kick off set for 11 am central time on Fox.

Group visits.

Student guide leading tour

Group visits are available for high school teachers, counselors, or community leaders to bring prospective students who are in 9th-12th grade to Colorado State University.

Our group visits provide students with an overview of the college admissions process, promote higher education as an attainable goal, and allow students to experience campus.

Groups may customize their visit by selecting sessions to meet their students’ needs including an information presentation led by an admissions representative, a student-led walking tour of campus, a presentation from one of our campus partners, a student panel presentation, an interactive activity, and lunch on campus.

Visits typically include at least three sessions and last for three hours. Learn more about reservations, group sizes, and visit activities below, and check availability on the reservation calendar to request your visit today.

Ready to visit?

You are encouraged to build a visit that is unique to your group. When making your reservation, you will have a number of options and activities to choose from. Most visits include:

  • Welcome and admissions presentation (30 minutes)
  • Walking tour of campus (1.5 hours)
  • Lunch (1 hour – optional). Your group can eat in a dining hall at $14 per person or get takeout from restaurants in the Lory Student Center.

Please note that we will make every effort to fulfill each request; however, we cannot guarantee that every request will be met.

Reservations are required for group visits and must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Dates fill up quickly, so please be sure to check the calendar often and register as soon as you know your preferred date(s). We encourage earlier reservations to better ensure that your group is able to come on your desired date and we are able to meet your group’s needs.

If you need to cancel your visit, we ask for 48 hours notice (excluding weather-related or unavoidable issues).

Our office is committed to providing each group a quality experience. To ensure this, we are unable to accommodate groups larger than 50 due to the limited availability of staff and tour guides.

If your group is fewer than 15 people, please contact the group visit coordinator directly before signing up online.

Group visit reservations are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Due to limited availability, we are currently unable to accommodate groups coming from out-of-state. Reservations are not available during university recess.

  • Mobile phone or camera
  • A great attitude!

Because we want to provide the best possible experience, we ask that your group respect the following guidelines:

Timely arrival : Arriving on time is vital. If you are running late, please contact the group visit coordinator immediately so we can attempt to adjust your visit itinerary. Facility and university representative schedules are limited, so in the event of a late arrival, timed activities will likely be adjusted.

Group ratio : Please provide an adequate number of chaperones. Chaperones will be required to accompany the group at all times during the visit. Our required ratio for group visits is 1 adult to 15 students. We train our Admissions Ambassadors so they can provide you with an excellent visit. Admissions Ambassadors are responsible for providing campus tours, not for controlling the behavior of visiting students. If students become too disruptive on a tour, the Ambassadors are authorized to end the tour immediately.

Appropriate dress : The visit will include a substantial amount of walking, and majority of the time will be spent outside. Check the weather report before your visit and encourage all students to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

Reciprocal respect : We welcome your organization to our campus! Colorado State University, first and foremost, is an educational institution. Please ensure your organization’s participants show respect to the university and its students, faculty, and staff. Failure to do so can result in early conclusion of the visit and limited availability for future visits by your organization. Please direct your students and chaperones to turn off all cell phones when appropriate so they don’t miss any of the exciting information we have to share with them. Students should understand the professional academic atmosphere of the campus and be prepared to represent their school positively at all times.

Lunch : Groups who are planning to have lunch while on campus are expected to display the same behavior in CSU dining facilities that they would display in their own school cafeterias. This includes refraining from running, yelling, or cutting in line. After getting food, it is appropriate to sit at a table to eat while remaining considerate of staff and current college students carrying out their daily activities. Additionally, individuals need to clear their table by taking dishes and trash to the dish return before departing.

Cancellation notice: If you find it necessary to cancel your visit, we appreciate that you give at least two days’ notice. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the group visit coordinator.
