Travel Bar Set Buying Guide
Every travel bar set is unique because they differ in design, size, tools, etc. Choosing one can get a bit overwhelming. So, before you purchase a travel bar set, you should know well what to be considered. Here are some factors you should look into.
Portability
Since travel bar sets are designed for carrying around during travel, choose one that you find most comfortable carrying. Some travel bar sets are designed to include bottles, so if you’re going for a lighter pack, choose one that doesn’t have a bottle compartment.
Also, go for travel bar sets with tight and secure straps to keep the tools in place. You can choose whether you want the exterior to have a handle or a strap.
Travel bar sets can get a bit pricey. To make your purchase worth the money, check the materials used. If you want your travel bar set to last long, you should opt for sets made of genuine black leather and a hard case. Also, check the quality of the tools inside. You wouldn’t want to buy a flimsy product that’ll last for a couple of months.
Stolen tools or liquors inside the travel bar set are possible. To avoid this kind of misfortune, consider getting a travel bar set with a case that includes a combination lock. It is much safer from thieves, and your liquors should be protected in a case, whereas if you choose to keep them outside, it might break.
Most importantly, you need to look at the tools inside the kit or case. The tools that come with the set are different for each product. Some products contain more tools in various materials.
While it is unnecessary to buy a travel bar set that includes many tools, it would be smart for you to know what is contained inside. Make sure the product you want has the right tools you need.
Make your travel experience even better with the company of a travel bar set. Owning one is both fun and satisfying, so you get to enjoy your favorite drink anytime, anywhere. It feels superb to carry a whole bar in one hand, shaker, jigger , and muddler .
Do you own a travel bar set? How is your experience so far? Let us know in the comments.

Juicing on the go: How To Keep Juicing While Traveling
There is a really good chance that this post contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission (for which I am deeply grateful) at no additional cost to you.
Juicing on a daily basis can be a delicious and healthy way to obtain optimum nutrition for your body. When you’re staying at home, drinking fresh juice is easy. However, when you’re away from home, maintaining your daily juice practice can be a great challenge. Luckily, work-related trips and personal vacations don’t have to deprive you of your healthy juicing habits, since juicing on the go is totally possible. Continue reading this article to learn how you can keep juicing while traveling.
Best tips for Juicing on the go!
1. research the area you’re visiting.
Again, traveling doesn’t need to affect your healthy lifestyle ultimately. If you’re going somewhere, do your research and see if there are local juice bars to visit. Use the Internet to search for healthy restaurants in the area that offer fresh juices on the go. Also, try calling shops and inquire if they can prepare juices for you. Typically, there are juice bars that are willing to deliver a glass container of juice to your hotel every morning.
2. Bring Your Portable Travel Juicer With You
Traveling to a friend’s house or going for a long road trip allows you to take your juicer with you. It’s an inexpensive way to go, especially if you’re visiting another place for a few days. Even if you’re traveling by plane, you can still bring your juicer with you. Make sure to pack it carefully. Cushion the equipment with clothing and secure the cutting board and knife in the safest way possible.
Moreover, you can also take your juicer even if you’re staying at a hotel. Just choose a room with a kitchenette so you’ll have an area where you can prepare your healthy juice recipes . Be sure the place is clean before you start making your fresh juices. Once you’re done, keep the area clean and throw as much pulp as possible in the trash can to prevent clogging the drain.
Here is a recommendation for a Portable Travel Juicer!
3. Ask Your Local Juice Bars To Prepare Juices In Advance
If there’s no juice bar in the place you’re traveling to, get help from the local juice bars in your area instead. Ask them if they can make a few glass jars of juices ahead of time. If you are away from home for two to five days, make sure they’ll have them ready for you to take wherever you are.
4. Buy Cold-Pressed Juice At The Grocery Store
Another way to keep yourself juicing while traveling is to purchase cold-pressed juice at the grocery store. This can be the best solution if you can’t simply find or prepare your fresh juices by yourself. Juices that have been processed under high pressure are still packed with nutrition since high pressure is used to kill unwanted microorganisms. The good thing about cold-pressed juices is that they can be bought with many brands to select from. Thus, if you want to fill your body with healthy juices when going somewhere else, check the label on the bottle. Look for the one that has “high pressure processed” or “cold pressured” indicated before buying.

5. Prepare A Cooler Of Juice
Depending on where you’re going, making and packing a cooler can keep you juicing while traveling. This can be an excellent option if you’re staying at the house of a nearby relative or planning a road trip to Arizona and other nearby destinations. When preparing a cooler, fill it with as much ice as possible to chill your juices longer. Be sure to place your glass jars of fresh juices at the bottom of the cooler to keep them chilled throughout your travel. Lastly, pack your cooler based on your drinking priority. For example, put the juices you plan to drink last on the bottom and the first ones on top.
Benefits Of Juicing
Keeping yourself juicing even if you’re away from home comes with great benefits. Below are the reasons why you shouldn’t miss your healthy juicing habit:
- Juicing can be a healthy way to eat fruits and vegetables that you don’t enjoy eating fresh. As a result, your body may be able to absorb the nutrients better.
- Juicing helps detoxify your body. It rests your digestive system, feeds it with nutrients, and eliminates harmful toxins.
- Juicing allows you to consume more fruits and vegetables that can help minimize the cholesterol level inside your body.
Final Thoughts
With several juice bars operating across the country and people buying a home juicer, no wonder juicing has become a popular health habit. It’s also considered a beneficial practice that can make your body healthier and stronger. Even if you’re traveling, you can still drink your favorite jar of fresh juice. Just follow the tips above so you can maintain a healthy lifestyle while you’re away from home.

Princess Juice Bar Menu
by Prof. Cruise · July 13, 2023
Princess Juice Bar
While I plan to skip the juice bar on my Princess cruises in favor of martinis, dessert, and dessert martinis, I understand that some may be interested in maintaining a healthy routine while on vacation (actually I don’t understand that at all, but I also don’t understand lots of other things about the world like war and raisins in cookies). In any case, Princess ships now include a juice bar usually located at the Wake Bar and generally open in the morning and afternoon on sea days (but double check your particular ship for the location and hours).
Are Juices from the Juice Bar on Princess included in the Plus and Premier Packages?
Yes, juices ARE included in both the Plus and Premier packages as well as the zero-alcohol beverage package. You can also purchase them a la carte. Here’s the menu with prices:
Go HERE for more information about the Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages and what they cover. And remember if you, like me, aren’t interested in juice, the plans also cover premium desserts. You can see the premium dessert menu HERE . And with that…
Class Dismissed!
Homework (10 points): Share your thoughts on these juices to the comments. Are you likely to order any of these?

Today’s Bonus Cruising Tip
I recommend always buying travel insurance to cover your cruise, but never purchase it through a cruise line. It costs more and usually covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like travelinsurance.com to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!

5 Travel Tips to Keep You Juicing Away From Home
By Rachel Holder
For many of us, juicing is more than an occasional practice, it’s an entire way of life. Since your body lets you know when you’ve missed just a day or two of juicing, it’s important to find ways to keep juicing even when on the go. With a little extra planning and preparation, there’s no reason at all that you can’t continue juicing while away from home this summer, or winter (depending on where you are!).
(In writing this, I’m assuming you’re in a situation in which you won’t be able to take along your own juicer. If you have plenty of room, and will be gone for a longer amount of time, taking your juicer along is a great way to stay healthy while traveling. Juicing during the day and eating a light, healthy meal in the evening is a great way to stay on track with your health goals while you’re out of town).
1. Do Your Research First, research the area you’re going to be visiting for local juice bars. You can use the Reboot with Joe Juice Bar Locator to help you find restaurants with juice. Or if you’re just looking for healthy food, use google to search for healthy food, vegetarian and vegan restaurants, etc. You can even call shops and ask if they make fresh juice and/or what their processes and storage procedures are. Many juice bars will also make several juices ahead for you (make sure they’ll store them in glass containers, or ask if you can drop your own glass jars ahead of time) and others will deliver fresh juice directly to your hotel each morning. In fact, one national hotel chain in the U.S, Kimpton Hotels, recently announced that they’ll be offering fresh juices at all of their properties!
2. Get Help from Your Local Juice Bars If you can’t find an accommodating juice bar in the area you’ll be visiting, ask your local juice bar at home if they’ll prepare several juices for you in advance to take with you. Many juice bars advertise something such as a “Cooler Cleanse” in which they’ll prepare 3 – 5 days worth of juices, pour them into your glass jars, and have them ready for you to pack in a cooler when you pick up.
3. Prepare Your Own Juice When you have the space to take a cooler along, another option is to make a few juices at home before you head out of town. If you’re day-tripping it, put your juices in an air-tight container, fill them to the top and put them on ice. They typically last 48 – 72 hours max if kept cold.
4. Know How to Pack a Cooler When packing a cooler of juice, make sure you pack the cooler properly so your juices stay chilled longer. Pre-chill what you’re going to put in the cooler first, so some of the cooling work is already done. In this case, put your juices in the refrigerator to chill immediately after preparing them and before placing them in the cooler. If you have ice packs, place the glass jars of juice in the bottom of the cooler and place ice packs around them. You want to have as little air in the cooler as possible (this causes the ice to melt), so place the ice in the cooler next, and shake it down to ensure there’s little air in between. Make sure you fill the cooler with as much ice as possible (all the way to top) to ensure less air as well. And don’t forget to pack the cooler in the order you’re going to use it…first juices on top and the ones you’ll be drinking last on the bottom.
5. Just Do the Best You Can And lastly, remember Joe Cross’s advice in “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead”: just do the best you can when traveling and get back on track when you return home. If you simply can’t find or make fresh juices, Joe recommends finding HPP juices. Evolution Juices, which are sold at most Starbucks nationwide, are a good choice when you are in a pinch as far as prepared juices go. Ultimately, just do your best to eat healthy while you’re out of town, and make good food choices, but also remember to have fun and enjoy your time away wherever your travels take you. That’s what it’s all about!

“I suggest purchasing a bar tool bag that has slits that fit most tools, including strainers, jiggers, bar spoons and shaker tins,” says Ashly Levi , bartender and mezcalier at Miss Agave. “If you don’t have one available, you can store the jigger, smaller bar spoons, bottle openers and julep strainers inside the tins to keep it all together."
Portability
Consider how portable your travel bar is. Working bartenders may want a roll-up bag, so they can tote their tools from home to shift (this is also a great option if you’re headed to a hotel or party where all your bar tools will be needed). Boxed options are great for train travel or picnics and do a great job of protecting the contents, but they can be cumbersome to carry.
Bottle Storage
Some travel bars are outfitted to carry just a small flask, while others have the capacity to store up to three or four of your favorite bottles. Pick a travel bar accordingly. If you simply want to sip a dram on the go out of decent glassware, the former type of travel bar will suffice. If you’re looking to craft Negronis, martinis, or other cocktails, consider a travel bar with a capacity that can hold all your ingredients.
What is included in a travel bar set?
A travel bar will include all the tools you need to craft cocktails on the go. Depending on the size of the bar, that can include a shaker and jigger or a full spate of bar tools. Often the travel bar set have space for bottles, too.
How portable is a travel bar set?
Travel bar sets are designed to be toted around. Some will be like small, hardshell suitcases complete with handles and locks. Some come in the form of a backpack, while others are rolled up and can be carried around like a briefcase.
Why use a travel bar set?
Travel bar sets are excellent in a range of situations; bring one on a picnic, take it on your next vacation, or pack it for your next backyard drinks. These tiny bars also double as an excellent option for those living in small spaces and don’t have room for a full setup.
How do you clean a travel bar set?
"To keep your bar tools clean, simply rinsing and washing with warm water and a bit of Dawn soap can do the trick when you’re on the go,” says Levi. “You can bring this in a travel-size container. The key is to dry it all really well using a microfiber towel, which is easy to keep on you when traveling.”
Some of the other experts we consulted get extra points for the unique methods they employ to keep their bar tools sparkly, such as Ervin Machado , Certified Sommelier and Beverage Director at Big Time Restaurant Group. "I use soap and water to clean my tools on the go," he says, "but I always polish them with vodka for extra shine."
Kate Dingwall is a sommelier and spirits writer. She has been writing about the bar and spirits world for five years and has her BarSmarts and WSET certification. She loves a good martini—wherever she may be.
This roundup was updated by Amanda Lauren , an experienced lifestyle writer who loves a good cocktail no matter where she is. She prefers bourbon to vodka.

Let's take a look at some of the most frequently asked questions about Travel Bars, and dispel your doubts once and for all.
1. What is a travel bar, and how is it used?
A travel bar is a portable kit designed to carry all your essential bar tools and accessories. It typically includes equipment like a shaker, strainer, stirrer, and even glasses. It's like having your happy hour home bar, but on the go. Simply pack your kit, add your favorite spirits and mixers, and you're ready to mix cocktails wherever you are!
2. Can a travel bar fit in a standard suitcase?
Yes, most travel bars are designed with portability in mind. They are compact enough to fit into a standard-sized suitcase or carry-on. However, it's always best to check the dimensions before purchase.
3. What materials are travel bars typically made from?
Travel bars are often made from durable materials like high-grade stainless steel or heavy-duty canvas to withstand the rigors of travel. These materials are also easy to clean, ensuring your tools stay hygienic and ready for use.
4. What kind of tools do travel bars usually come with?
A standard travel bar kit will include tools like a stainless steel shaker, jigger, muddler, strainer, bottle opener, and stirrer. Some kits may even include a few whiskey glasses and a corkscrew.

The 5 Freshest Miami Juice Bars
- Share Content on Facebook
- Share Content via Email
Instead of opting for a second coffee or cocktail, try a glass of fresh juice for a quick, midday energy boost. Fresh fruit and vegetable juice has been purported to heal everything from cancer to acne, and while there is only anecdotal evidence of its healing properties, Miami is full of juice bars that cater to Miamians and tourists looking for a healthier option. It might not be a cure-all, but some holistic health experts encourage juicing for its rich micronutrients that are quickly absorbed into the body. And on one of South Florida’s infamous hot days, fresh juice is the perfect remedy.
Sunset Juice Cafe
Located at the entrance to Sunset Harbor, a premier neighborhood in South Beach, the Sunset Juice Café is a bright neighborhood spot with a modern, organic menu filled with natural, fresh ingredients. As the sun sets over the harbor, try some of their pastries and bread, which are baked in house every day. They also have vegan options like whole-wheat vegan croissants, one of the only kinds in Miami. Sunset Juice Café offers all the typical juice café classics like cold-pressed pineapple, apple, and mint juice and a large variety of fresh squeezed juices. But the lunch hangout is Italian at heart with its choice of veggie and salmon frittatas and eggs Rosinella ($10.95 – $12.95). Get ready for some healthy eats!
Juice and Java
Washington Avenue has gone through some dramatic changes since its Miami Vice days. Today, it’s a South Beach hotspot with its bustling night clubs, tattoo parlors, restaurants, and one of the best juice bars on the beach – Juice and Java . Just past the popular Espanola Way and next to the historic post office at 13th Street, this laid back café is a favorite spot for fitness buffs in between workouts at the nearby Crunch Gym and occasional tourists wandering in from the beach two blocks away. Whether you’re a health nut or just hungry, the kitchen at Juice and Java has a mix of wholesome dishes like tuna salad pita melts and gluten-free super duper waffle breakfasts with sliced fruit. But its specialty is, of course, the fresh juice and smoothies that make up half the menu with tons of variations. It’s rated the third best juice bar in all of Miami, according to Tripadvisor reviews, so you know you can’t go wrong.
Carrot Express
Carrot Express is a popular spot among locals taking a lunch break, in between errands on Alton Road, or waiting for their car to be washed next door. “Serving wholesome food since 1994,” the juice bar and café serves fresh, natural dishes including homemade, Latin-inspired cakes and pastries. The fresh squeezed juices are a great choice with options like carrot, pineapple, and “green dream” ($6.95 – $9.95). If you’re looking for an extra kick of green, up the ante with a wheatgrass power shot. They also have typical café food like pita melts, salads, and veggie wraps. With less expensive prices than most juice bars in Miami, Carrot Express offers a menu full of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, plus seasonal, local produce featured in daily specials. Located at the busy intersection of 17th St. and Alton, stop in for a fast, healthy lunch or a fresh juice to beat the Miami heat.
Ten Fruits Juice and Coffee Bar
Among the towering offices of downtown and beer and burger joints, office workers flock to this chic warehouse space for lighter, healthier choices like the orange kale salad with avocado, figs, almonds, and chia seeds, or a classic chicken, beef, or spinach ricotta empanada ($4), the beloved savory Peruvian pasty. While you’re there, order a nutrient dense smoothies like the tropical Red Dragon with dragon fruit, mango, banana, pomegranate, almond milk, and agave ($8.50). The owner and founder Alexander Vasquez was influenced by the Amazon region of Peru where he grew up eating organic tropical fruit and vegetables typical of the area. If you’re ever downtown in the city, follow the trail of professionals on their lunch breaks and stop in for an exotic twist on modern juiceries. Located near the touristy Bayfront Park, Ten Fruits also offers a juice cleanse for beginners or hard-core health nuts.
For a more laid back beach vibe, check out Pura Vida in South Point, a juice bar and café at 110 Washington Avenue, though they have other locations with different menus as well. The neighborhood is a great spot to explore Miami’s Art Deco, and for architecture aficionados, South Point is full of hidden gems just outside Ocean Drive. Pura Vida is a popular café among locals and the occasional tourist for their big bowls like spicy tuna and summer chicken, a favorite lunch choice on Miami’s hot days. They also have pita melts and wraps, plus a variety of signature juice blends for a quick energy boost. Meet your veggie quota for the day with Lulu’s Lemon, a blend of pineapple, orange, apple, lemon, ginger, and turmeric. Time to drink to your health at this beloved juice bar in Miami!

Princess juice bar menu?! + cost in 2023 ⚓ (free with Princess plus or premier package) 🏔 Alaska cruise travel blog
So if you’ll be getting the packages of the Princess Plus or Princess Premier on your next cruise, or you’re trying to figure out if you should get one of the Princess packages, then you may have noticed that the “juice bar” is included as part of these packages.
So then, what is this “juice bar” that is listed as a perk of getting the plus or premier package?
The juice bar drinks are basically health and wellness drinks with fruit that you can get on a Princess cruise.
Anyone can order from the juice bar, but people without a Princess package will pay extra for it.
If you have a plus or premier package, then you won’t have to pay.
The juice bar drinks are also included in the zero alcohol package .
So, will you actually want to get a drinks from the juice bar during your cruise?
How much does a drink at the juice bar cost on a Princess cruise?
Without the Princess Plus or Princess Premier package, the cost of a drink from the juice bar on a Princess cruise costs around $8 or $12 depending on the drink. A tip might be added on to this.
Prices of the juice bar can change, but this is how much it cost when I was on the Majestic Princess cruise ship in May 2023.
What are the juice bar drinks on a Princess cruise?
On the juice bar menu of a Princess cruise are healthy wellness drinks called the immune booster, the cleanser, the antioxidant, the rejuvenator, the booster, the nutter, and the tropical twist. Descriptions of these juice drinks are below!
Once again, the offerings of the juice bar can change, but this was the juice bar menu on my recent Princess cruise.
What are the ingredients of juice bar drinks?
The immune booster is a drink with grapefruit, orange, and lemon.
The cleanser is a drink with green apple, pineapple, celery, and cucumber.
The antioxidant is a drink with watermelon, red grapes, cantaloupe, and carrots.
The rejuvenator is a drink with carrots, cucumber, apple, and ginger.
The booster is a drink with carrots, turmeric root, and ginger.
The nutter is a drink with banana, peanut butter, coconut milk, and soy milk.
The tropical twist is a drink with pineapple, kiwi, honey, almond milk, and coconut milk.
Where can you get the juice bar drinks on the cruise ship?
On my recent cruise, the juice bar was located at the regular bar that was at the very back of the ship.
Your cruise ship may vary!
There have been reports on other cruise ships that the drink bar is at the dessert area of the buffet, at the soft-serve ice cream spot (“Swirls”), or at the International Cafe.
If you aren’t able to locate the juice bar while walking around on the cruise ship, you can try asking a bartender at any bar.
Or, call guest services, or try the “crewchat” in your Princess app.
See more public viewing areas: Majestic Princess cruise ship !
How many drinks can you get for free at the juice bar with a plus or premier package?
Free drinks at the juice bar with a princess plus package.
Free drinks at the juice bar with a Princess Premier package
And that’s a bit about the juice bar on a Princess cruise ship!
I was on a Princess cruise most recently in May 2023. Your experience may vary!

The Best Juice Bars in NJ
The latest update for The Best Juice Bars in NJ is written by Lindsay Podolak .
I f you’re ready for a new and improved you, then you’re ready for some juice. Not the kind that comes in a sippy cup or box, but the kind that revitalizes, reenergizes and refuels your body. Put simply: Juicing extracts the juice from fruits and veggies. The result is a liquid that contains most of the vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are contained in the whole fruit.
According to the Mayo Clinic , juicing can help your body absorb nutrients more easily. It also allows your digestive system the opportunity to rest instead of breaking down fiber found in whole fruits and vegetables. Additionally, juicing helps remove toxins from your body, boost your immune system and aid in weight loss. If you’re new to juicing, or are just ready to reawaken your inner green goddess, these are the bars pressing the good stuff.

Owner Seth Amoah grew up in a household where blended juices were a part of daily life. Now, Amoah aims to share the knowledge of how fresh produce can contribute to a healthy lifestyle with his customers. Order a pressed bottled juice to go or choose one of the colorful smoothies, like the Beet It, a bright red drink that improves circulation, boosts stamina and lowers blood pressure. Why I like it: This is one juicery where prices aren’t through the roof. Amoah wants his drinks to be a healthier, cost-effective alternative to a kid picking up a candy bar on the way home from school. More info: thejuicebar.business.site or call 856-324-0436 .
Animo Juice & Burrito Bar
Where: 201 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield Details: A desire to move away from processed fast food is what prompted Maria and Anthony to open Animo. On the menu are breakfast burritos, blended bowls, soups, salads and frozen whipped bananas. They also have a complete juice bar. Down a wellness shot or choose a full-serving juice such as the Spa Treatment, a mix of lemon, lime, cucumber and apple. There’s also fan favorite Cin City, which blends protein powder, ice, milk, spinach, cinnamon, banana and raw honey. Why I like it: Delivery is offered to local customers in Haddonfield. There’s also a second Animo shop in downtown Philadelphia. More info: www.animojuice.com or call 856-427-9070 .

America's 10 Best Juice Bars: Perfect For Your New Year's Cleanse
By Will Levith
All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.
Phew . You've made it past New Year's Day—maybe even with a bit of friendly, diner-based advice from your friends at Condé Nast Traveler . But now it's time to start on your New Year's resolutions, which might include a little something about getting healthy. With the help of Foursquare —who has a new app coming to iPads and smartphones soon—we put together a list of the top 10 juice joints to check out this January and beyond.
1. Lanikai Juice | Kailua, Hawaii
Say “Aloha!” to a prosperous and, more importantly, healthy new year at Lanikai Juice , located on the southeastern coast of Oahu. Get back on the straight and narrow with a Kailua Monkey (soy milk, banana, peanut butter, honey, and whey protein) or accept a visit from Dr. Green (mango juice, ginger, mix green, orange, pineapple, banana, and honey).
2. Miss Lily's & Melvin's Juice Box | New York, New York
You can call Melvin Major Jr. your juice doctor. He will happily serve you up a cleansing solution at one of his three Melvin’s or Lily’s locations in the city. Take a ride on the Kale Express with his Jamaican Green (kale, apple, lemon, ginger, and celery) or just do a shot (i.e. one made out of wheatgrass). Patrons can even order a full-body cleanse .
3. Naturewell | Los Angeles, California
Naturewell , located in the City of Angels, calls itself a “Wellness Bar.” We’d suggest a Di-Hard (apple, bell peppers, broccoli, grapes, parsley, strawberries, and swiss chard). Or your mainframe might just be in need of an Anti-Virus (apple, beet, grapes, ginger, kale, and mangosteen). You could always just go with the über-popular Coconut Kale (the name is pretty self-explanatory). Any way you spin it, you’ll be happily and healthily back in traffic in no time.
4. Kure Juice Bar | Portland, Oregon
One thing this crunchy city gets right is its health food. If you’re going to get juice-y in the new year, Kure Juice Bar is the place to do it. If you're trying to drop a hint, buy your partner a Sex Panther (organic Sambazon energy drink, acai berries, banana, mango puree, and ice). Or just get yourself a juice cocktail simply called “Winning!” (acai and goji berries, banana, green superfood powder, mango puree, nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt, apple juice, and ice).
5. Greens & Proteins | Las Vegas, Nevada
In one of the most difficult places on Earth to eat and drink healthy, Las Vegas has at least one spot— Greens and Proteins Health Kitchen —where you don’t have to gamble on your wellness. Try a Tofu Banana Split smoothie (tofu, banana, strawberries, peaches, squash, cabbage, carrots, pecans, vanilla, and agave nectar); Green Ginger Limeade (green grapes, spinach, ginger, lime, and agave nectar); or for the bleary eyed, caffeine-addict morning crowd, rock a White Chocolate Veggiechino, which finds its Joe-like jolt the natural way (not via coffee additives).
6. Eco Bean & Juice | Burlington, Vermont
Cleanse your body the next morning—and for as long as it takes—at local health bar Eco Bean & Juice , where you can enjoy a mix of juices (like the Care Berry) and smoothies (like the Cafe Macao). If you’re ready for solid food, too, EB&J also has a great selection of super-food salads, paninis, and “eco treats” (a.k.a. desserts that won’t battle your bulge) to go with your liquid course.
7. The Orange Peel | Saint George, Utah
Conveniently located on the Arizona-Utah border, The Orange Peel acts as a refilling station for health nuts in both states. If the holiday season battered your immune system, try The Cure—a smoothie, not the British goth band—which the OP hails as having “a license to kill your cold.” Sticking with the rock-referential liquids, maybe what you need is a Velvet Underground, which mixes beets, red apples, and carrots.
8. The Green Fork | New Orleans, Louisiana
Too much rich food, booze, and Southern hospitality can have an adverse effect. But the Green Fork would like to bring you back down to earth with liquids that have names like “Peaceful,” “Laughter,” “Wisdom,” and “Happiness."
9. Tree City Juice & Smoothie Cafe | Boise, Idaho
At Boise’s West Side Drive-In , you may have beat that hangover, but your real road to recovery begins at Tree City Juice & Smoothie Cafe , just a seven-minute drive away. (There’s a second location in Meridian, Idaho, too.) If you feel washed ashore, grab a Shipwreck smoothie (bananas, mangoes, passion guava juice, peach sorbetto, and fresh yogurt); or semi-permanently substitute tropical fruit for tequila with a rejuvenating Mango Sunrise.
10. The Juicy Café | Seattle, Washington
Start your new year off with a trip to The Juicy Café . The popular spot serves up tasty liquids like Ab’s Green Religion (daily greens, lemon, and ginger); the Skinny Minnie (grapefruit, cucumber, and apple cayenne); and the Green Monster, a smoothie that even Mariners fans can enjoy. You can even opt into a three- or seven-day cleanse, which will put you back about $150 or $300, respectively. But think of that shot of good health as a longterm investment.

This Black-Owned Juice Bar Is One Of The First To Set Up In Whole Foods
Kansas City native Chris Goode is one of the first Black business owners to have a shop inside of a Whole Foods location. Read his story here.
DeAnna Taylor • Oct 31, 2019
For Kansas City, Missouri native Chris Goode, his grandmother, Ruby Jean, was his world. She often stepped in to help his single mother care for him and his younger siblings as kids.
When Chris was about 14, she suddenly fell sick and it was discovered that she was battling Type 2 Diabetes. The family did everything they could to save her, including taking her to a special medical facility. As everyone prepared to say their goodbyes, they brought in Chris’s great grandmother who lived in Oklahoma. They wanted to give her the chance to say goodbye to her child.
Sadly, the pain of seeing her child on her deathbed caused her to have a massive heart attack in the hospital and she passed away. Two days later, Ruby Jean would also pass.
“I remember it shifting my life,” Chris Goode, Owner of Ruby Jean’s Juicery told Travel Noire. “Everything just changed.”
Fast forward to his early 20’s, Chris landed a job as an insurance adjuster. He was living the life, making a great salary, and traveling often. During a trip to Los Angeles to see some friends, Chris was introduced to the world of juicing.
“At that time, my friends were doing a juice detox, so they told me they wouldn’t be eating while I was there. They convinced me to watch a documentary called “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead” and I was immediately blown away. It made me think of my grandma.”
After that trip, Chris went back to Missouri where he did a 10-day detox on his own. He felt great after and it prompted him to start getting into juicing culture. Every trip that he took, he scoped out the best juice bars in the area.
One night, after praying and trying to figure out what it was that he ultimately wanted to do in life, he realized he too wanted to open a juice bar– in honor of his grandmother.
“I went all in and quit my job immediately,” Chris said. ” I did things a little prematurely with no concrete plan, but thanks to God it all worked out.”
In 2015, the first Ruby Jean’s was opened in a small 700 square foot space of a gym in Kansas City. From the first day, business was great and only 4 months in a group wanted to license a separate location.
Within two years, the brand was winning awards including a spot on Yelp’s ‘Top 100’ list that recognized businesses all over the U.S. and Canada. They also opened an additional location off of 30th and Troost, an area once named after a former slave owner.
In late 2018, a representative from Whole Foods sent Chris an email stating that they were interested in forming a partnership. They had been following Ruby Jean’s for the last two years and loved what they were doing.
A few months later, the deal was formed and Ruby Jean’s officially opened a brick and mortar location inside of the Whole Foods located at 301 E. 51st St in Kansas City. This makes it one of the first (if not the first) Black-owned businesses to have a setup inside of the grocery chain.
“It feels great to see my grandmother’s face big as day when you walk into the location.”
Ruby Jean’s offers everything from cold pressed juices, fresh smoothies, and juices on the spot. The Troost location also offers healthy food options too.
Many of the menu items are named after significant things in Chris’s life or things significant to the culture of Kansas City.
We asked Chris to tell us what this moment means for him:
“It’s something that I don’t take for granted. God has given me this platform and opportunity. It’s amazing to create something my family is proud of.”
He spends a lot of his time speaking to the inner city youth of Kansas City, in hopes of showing them an example of what they can one day become.

Great local place for delicious, healthy lunch or snack! stumbled upon it earlier today. Family owned business, everyone was very helpful and friendly. I had the tropical blast smoothie...delicious! I recommend this place! A bit hard to find as it's tucked off the main road in an office park but GPS will get you there.

The 8 Best Citrus Juicers of 2024
Squeeze fresh juice into your cocktails with ease.

Liquor / Chloe Jeong
As the old adage goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This feat is particularly easy with the help of a great citrus juicer. However, not all citrus juicers are made equally. There are handheld citrus juicers used for squeezing a few lemons or limes at a time with minimal effort. Or, there are heavy-duty industrial citrus juicers built to dispense liters of juice, sometimes in under a minute.
Regardless of what type of citrus juicer you are looking for, keep an eye out for two crucial details: performance and cleaning capabilities. A great juicer will get all juice, seeds, and pulp out of your lemons (and other citrus) with almost no effort. The best juicers are easy to clean and dishwasher-safe. Whether you’re trying to streamline your service or you just want to add a few citrus-based cocktails to your repertoire, a good juicer makes it easy to squeeze fresh lime, lemon, or orange juice in seconds.
Best Overall
Zulay professional heavy duty citrus juicer.
Easy to clean
Needs to be secured to prevent tipping
“My go-to citrus juicer for home or any new bar program we work on is this one from Zulay,” says Jack Barnett , co-founder of Old Fashioned Beverage cocktail consultancy. "It’s very durable, it looks sharp enough for any back bar or to keep on your counter at home, and it’s a good price point. Zulay is also really good about replacing any parts if it’s ever an issue."
This manual citrus squeezer uses leverage to squeeze citrus with ease. Just make sure to secure it before using it to keep it from tipping. Pull down the handle (outfitted with an ergonomic grip), and the device powerfully crushes through fruits and vegetables—think lemons of all types, along with apples, pineapple, and limes. This option is great to keep on a counter or bar top and quickly juice citrus to order. It wipes clean easily, and the juicing component pops out for easy rinsing.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 7 x 11.25 x 15.75 inches | Material: Cast iron, stainless steel | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Best Old-School
Ra chand j210 citrus juicer.
Easy to use
Simple construction
“My favorite juicer is a Ra Chand,” describes Sean Umstead , co-owner of Kingfisher Cocktail Bar in Durham, N.C. “It is a spring-loaded, manual juicer that you can crush an entire case of citrus with. It’s heavy-duty (but without too many parts) and easy to repair. A citrus juicer needs to be reliable and work 100% of the time, that’s why I love this manual juicer.”
This three-piece manual metal juicer does the trick—just pull down the lever, and fresh juice pops out with ease. It’s a great option for a bar or crafting lemonade at home (perhaps for a London Lemonade ) and fresh juice in the morning. Though it doesn’t feature any snazzy technology and is a bit on the pricey side, it’s a handy, tried-and-true model with sturdy metal construction and rubber detailing.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 11 x 7 x 24 inches | Material: Metal | Dishwasher-Safe: No
Best Manual
New star foodservice commercial citrus juicer.
Long-lasting
Good for large batches
Manual arm can make it tiring to use
The juicer features a removable cone, a wide base, rubber suction cup feet for stability, and an enamel finish that protects the cast iron from pitting and corrosion. All in all, it is professional-grade and built to be a bar-quality workhorse of a juicer. Meaning, it’s built to last and is efficient and excellent for large quantities of juice. That said, the action of lifting up the lever and pulling it down can tire out your arm.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 9 x 7 x 23 inches | Material: Iron | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Best Electric
Breville citrus press pro juicer.
Quick and efficient
This citrus juicer from Breville combines the efficiency and speed of an electric machine with the comfort of a manual arm. Any size citrus—from small limes to large grapefruit—fits comfortably and stays in place on the Quadra-Fin juicing cone, and the ergonomically designed press arm with a safety switch assures the cone will only spin when the right amount of pressure is applied. The drip stop juice spout will prevent mess on the counter, while the die-cast materials will resist corrosion.
The 100-watt motor is nice and quiet, perfect if you'll be making juice often or while others are nearby. The two stainless steel filters allow you to control the amount of pulp, and the parts are dishwasher-safe. Although it does have a high price tag, this durable unit will last and look great on your countertop.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 10.3 x 14 x 7.6 inches | Material: Stainless steel | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Best Budget Electric
Cuisinart pulp control citrus juicer.
Different pulp settings
Can only fit a 12-ounce glass underneath
Made of brushed stainless steel with easy, dishwasher-safe parts, this universal tool does it all. The versatile unit features a juicing cone with an auto-reversing feature that switches directions to get the most possible juice out of the citrus and the final spin round—just like your dishwasher—ensuring that all juice is pulled from the remaining pulp. The inexpensive tool has three different pulp control settings, perfect for pulp lovers (and their friends who don't love it just as much).
One of the big benefits of an automated citrus juicer is you can perfectly measure out the juice—simply place a measuring cup (12-ounce glass or less as anything bigger won't fit) under the spigot and pause the machine when you have enough juice for your recipe. Though this is an electric juicer, the motor is surprisingly subtle sounding.
Once you’re done, clean-up is a breeze, though the extra-long snap-up spout curbs any drips before they happen. This handsome machine comes in three shades: burnt orange, black, and polished chrome.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 5.75 x 6.38 x 10.75 inches | Material: Stainless steel | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes

Best Handheld
Zulay kitchen metal lemon lime squeezer.
Simple to use
A lot of work for large batches of juice
Looking for a more low-key juicer? “For most bars, your basic handheld citrus juicer is more than capable of doing the job!” advises bartender Seth Falvo. “Some bars drastically over-prep citrus juices, which really don't hold up by the end of the day. I really don't see the point in buying a juicer meant to prep gallons of juice at a time unless you're realistically and consistently handling that much volume."
That said, this option is great for small-quantity juicing in your home or at a bar. This sturdy hand press made from aluminum with a protective coating can process lemons, lime, smaller citrus fruit, and oranges. It’s easy to use (just place half a citrus in the press, close the tool, and you have citrus in seconds) and easy to store at just 9 inches long. A second layer in the tool picks out pulp and seeds. Since this juicer is portable, you can place it directly over your cocktail shaker tin or jigger. If you're looking to juice large batches, opt for another type of juicer as it would be a lot of work with this one. To clean, just pop it in the dishwasher.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 2.9 x 8.7 x 2.1 inches | Material: Metal | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Best for Speed
Oxo good grips 2-in-1 citrus juicer.
Easy to store
Two sizes of reamers
Requires more work from user
This reamer-style juicer is one of the easiest to use and most streamlined, but it takes more time and effort to use in comparison to other models. Rather than pressing the citrus, this reamer asks the user to cut the fruit in half and use their hand to press the juice through the reamer.
If your kitchen is on the small side, this manual juicer is an ideal pick—the reamer flips off the measuring cup and nests inside it for easy storage. The two-in-one juicer includes two reamers: a smaller one for limes and lemons and a larger one for oranges and grapefruit (perfect when making a grapefruit cocktail ). The juicer itself fits on top of a 5-cup vessel for storing the citrus, complete with metric and imperial measurement markings and a drip-free pour spout. The reamer snaps right off the top for easy cleaning, or simply toss it in the dishwasher.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 5.2 x 5.7 x 8.5 inches | Material: Plastic | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Related: The Best Bar Carts
Best Foldable
Dreamfarm 10-inch lemon fluicer.
Slim design
Built-in seed catcher
Materials not as durable as other options
Imagine a juicer that folds and stores neatly away without taking up much space, and you've got the Dreamfarm Lemon Fluicer. Yes, it is a manual juicer, but it is so easy to use and doesn't take as much effort as the traditional manual juicers do. When folded up, it has a unique compact, slim design. When ready to use, unfold and put a cut in half of lemon or other fruit into the triangular spot, then over a glass or measuring cup, squeeze the two handles together, and watch the juice come out through the pip catcher, which acts like a funnel as it strains the juice. The flucier has a built-in seed catcher, so no seeds fall into the cup below. There's no need to put a ton of muscle when juicing with this juicer because if you overpower it, you can break it.
Choose between three colors: yellow, orange, or lime green and get juicing. Oh, and cleanup is easy, too, just pop it into the dishwasher and let it do the dirty work.
Dimensions (DxWxH): 9.9 x 4.1 x 1.2 inches | Material: Polypropylene, stainless steel | Dishwasher-Safe: Yes
Final Verdict
Because of its low-maintenance design and extraction power, Zulay’s Professional Juicer is our top pick; it's easy to clean and can handle other fruits and vegetables in addition to citrus. If you're looking for an electric option, the Breville Citrus Press Pro Juicer is fast and efficient, and although pricey, great if you'll be juicing a lot of citrus.
What to Look for When Buying a Citrus Juicer
Manual vs. electric.
If you will be producing large amounts of juice at once, an electric juicer will save you time and effort; manual juicers require a lot of arm movement and strength and can get tiring after a while. Manual juicers will suffice, however, when making fresh juice for a cocktail or two.
Depending on how and how often you will be using the juicer will determine the size you need. If this tool is mainly pulled out on a weekend, a smaller juicer will do, but if you plan on making freshly squeezed juice several times a week—or need to make larger quantities of juice—it's best to consider a juicer that is larger and has a higher volume output.
Maintenance
Dishwasher-safe parts will make cleanup a breeze, but also having fewer pieces to worry about means the juicer is easier to maintain. Avoid juicers where the fruit pieces can get stuck and are hard to remove.
What's the difference between a citrus juicer and a juicer?
A citrus juicer is designed for extracting the juice from citrus (lemons, limes, oranges, etc.), which needs to be cut in half before squeezing. A juicer (like a cold press juicer ) presses the juice out of whole or chopped-up fruits and vegetables and is used to make flavorful, healthy beverages.
Do you have to peel citrus before juicing?
Fruit does not need to be peeled before placing it in a citrus juicer, but you do want to wash it first. You may also want to remove the peel with a citrus peeler and save it to use as garnish for your cocktails.
Can you use the scraps leftover from juicing?
In addition to composting, you can repurpose your citrus scraps by making a citrus stock , which can be added to cocktails calling for lemon or lime juice.

3. Prepare Your Own Juice. When you have the space to take a cooler along, another option is to make a few juices at home before you head out of town. If you're day-tripping it, put your juices in an air-tight container, fill them to the top and put them on ice. They typically last 48 - 72 hours max if kept cold.
