China Entry and Exit Requirements and Procedures 2024

Until December 31, 2025 , ordinary passport holders of France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Malaysia can enjoy a 15-day visa-free entry to China .

China opened its borders to tourists on March 15, 2023. If you are planning to visit China, it's important to understand the entry and exit requirements and procedures that apply to international travelers.

Now, inbound and outbound travelers no longer need to complete the China Health Declaration Form or provide a negative COVID-19 test result, either.

China Entry Requirements

To enter China, you must have a valid passport and a China visa unless you are eligible for a visa-free entry or a visa-on-arrival.

Note: Though you are not required to complete the China Health Declaration Card and provide the COVID-19 test result before entering China Mainland, you still need to inform the customs and cooperate for health checks if you have symptoms like fever, cough, difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or if you've been diagnosed with a contagious disease.

Customs Procedures

China's custom channels are divided into two types: the red channel (also called the tax channel) and the green channel (also called a free channel).

Red Channel

Foreign travelers usually enter China through the red channel. They must declare first to customs after filling in the passenger baggage declaration form and can enter after the registration at customs.

The completed customs declaration form must be presented again when leaving China. The form must be filled in truthfully and accurately, and those who provide false information or fail to declare items will be subject to legal action by customs once identified.

The items exceeding the maximum limit listed in the document table should be processed according to other relevant provisions.

Green Channel

Foreign personnel who have been granted a diplomatic visa-passport or courtesy visa-passport by the Chinese authorities or granted free-of-examination courtesy can choose the green channel. But they have to show their credentials to the customs and the declaration document table filled according to the requirements.

Hygiene Quarantine Requirements for Entering China

Foreigners entering China must truthfully fill in health declaration forms as requested by border quarantine departments. Failure to report infectious diseases may result in punishment for evading quarantine and prevention from entering China upon identification. Those who have entered China without reporting an infectious disease may be ordered to leave in advance.

Infectious patients from affected areas must present a valid certificate of immunization-related diseases (commonly known as the "yellow book"). If they do not have a valid certificate, the Frontier Health and Quarantine infected organs will run a test for six days from the day they leave the infected environment.

Commodities from areas that may have been contaminated by infectious diseases or become media articles of epidemic diseases are subject to health and sanitation inspection and quarantine treatment.

People Forbidden from entering China

The following individuals are not allowed to enter China:

A. Those who have been deported from China are under the regulated age.

B. Those who are considered possible terrorists or may undertake violence and subversive activities after entering.

C. Those who are suspected of possible smuggling, drug trafficking, and prostitution activities.

D. Those who have mental illnesses or have leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, open tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases.

E. Those who cannot afford what is needed in China.

F. Those who are considered to possibly engage in activities that endanger the security and interests of China after entering.

The frontier checkpoint has the right to prevent the following individuals from entering:

A. Those who have no valid passports, certificates, or visas.

B. Those who have forged, defaced, or other people's passports or certificates.

C. Those who refuse to be inspected.

D. Those who are forbidden to enter by the Ministry of Public Security and the National Security Ministry.

Exiting China

Foreign tourists must leave China within the allowed time limit of their visa from the allocated port. They must present effective passports or other effective certificates to the port border checkpoint.

People Forbidden to Leave China

A. Defendants in a criminal case or criminal suspects identified by the people's procuratorates, public security organs, or court.

B. Individuals are not allowed to leave the country due to unsettled civil cases according to the People's Court notice.

C. Others whose behaviors have violated China's laws and have been identified by competent authorities as needing pursuit.

The border authorities have the right to prevent the following individuals from leaving China:

A. Those who hold invalid certificates.

B. Those who have forged, defaced, or other people's passports or certificates.

C. Those who refuse to be inspected.

Country Summary : Violent crime, such as homicide, armed robbery, and kidnapping, is common. Violent gang activity, such as extortion, violent street crime, rape, and narcotics and human trafficking, is widespread. Local police and emergency services lack sufficient resources to respond effectively to serious crime.

Gracias a Dios Department – Level 4: Do Not Travel

Gracias a Dios is an isolated area with high levels of criminal activity and drug trafficking. Infrastructure is weak, government services are limited, and police and military presence is scarce.

  • The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Gracias a Dios as U.S. government employees are restricted from traveling to the area.

Required: Honduras currently requires travelers arriving from or traveling to Panama and every nation in South America to present proof of yellow fever vaccine. Effective March 22, 2023: Travelers are no longer required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or negative test results for a PCR, Antingen, or ELISA test prior to entry in to Honduras. Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements

To enter Honduras, you need:

  • A U.S. passport with at least three months validity.
  • Evidence of onward travel. For stays of up to 90 days, you do not need a visa for tourism.
  • Please note, individuals who do not obtain the appropriate visa, or overstay their time in Honduras, may face significant exit fines.

Special Requirements for Minors :  Under Honduran law, children under age 21 who are traveling unaccompanied or with only one parent must have written, notarized permission to travel from the non-traveling parent(s).

  • If notarizing a permission letter in Honduras, the letter should be notarized by a Honduran notary public.
  • If notarizing a permission letter in the United States, the letter should be apostilled by the U.S. state registrar where the notary is registered.  Honduran immigration authorities may also accept permission letters notarized at a Honduran embassy or consulate in the United States.
  • If there is no second parent with legal custody of the child (e.g., the second parent is deceased, one parent has sole custody, etc.), travelers can provide copies of the relevant paperwork such as a court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc.

The U.S. Department of State is unaware of any HIV/AIDS entry restrictions for visitors or residents of Honduras.

Safety and Security

Crime:  While crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country, municipalities along the north coast and central portions of the country have historically had the country’s highest crime rates.

Gracias a Dios 

In particular, Gracias a Dios is a remote location where narcotics trafficking is commonplace, infrastructure is weak, government services are limited, and police or military presence is scarce. As a result, the U.S. Embassy has restricted U.S. government personnel travel to Gracias a Dios. U.S. citizens should not travel to Gracias a Dios. The Honduran government conducts police and military patrols in major cities in an effort to reduce crime. However, the ability of Honduran law enforcement authorities to prevent, respond to, and investigate criminal incidents, and to prosecute criminals is limited.

Bay Islands and Copan Ruins 

Areas frequented by tourists, such as the Bay Islands (including Roatan, Utila and Guanaja) and Copan Ruins, have notably lower rates of violent crime and increased law enforcement services. U.S. government employees have no restrictions on travel to these areas. Travelers should still exercise reasonable precautions. Of note, foreign residents of the Bay Islands who purchase properties have reported increased incidents of harassment, including being the victims of violent attacks, after becoming involved in disputes.

Review your personal security plans; remain aware of your surroundings and local events; and monitor local news stations for updates. Maintain a high level of vigilance, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security, and follow instructions of local authorities.

Demonstrations:   Demonstrations regularly occur in Honduras, particularly near the Presidential Palace, Congress, and the universities in Tegucigalpa. Protests and work stoppages have become common at Ministerio Publico offices throughout the country, leading to interruptions in services. Additionally, some protests directed toward the U.S. government, usually small in size, can occur around the U.S. Embassy. In addition, there are often demonstrations on the CA-5, the main highway connecting Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. This highway is used to access or exit Palmerola International Airport – XPL, near Comayagua (54 miles north of Tegucigalpa). Palmerola is currently the main international airport for Tegucigalpa. Protests often result in the extended closure of major roads and highways in and between major cities, blocking the flow of goods, services and reducing access to daily household supplies. U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Honduras should avoid large gatherings or events where crowds have congregated to demonstrate, protest, or cause damage as a byproduct of celebrating an event, such as after soccer matches. 

Victims of Crime:  If you are a victim of crime, call the national police by dialing 911. Remember that local authorities are responsible for investigating and prosecuting the crime.

Domestic Violence: U.S. citizen victims of domestic violence may contact the U.S. Embassy for assistance.

Severe Weather:  Honduras is vulnerable to hurricanes, heavy rains, and flooding, especially between June and November. For up-to-date information, visit Honduras’ National Emergency Management Commission ( COPECO ) website for current alerts, as well as the  National Hurricane Center’s website .

Tourism:  The tourism industry is unevenly regulated, and safety inspections for equipment and facilities do not commonly occur. Hazardous areas/activities are not always identified with appropriate signage, and staff may not be trained or certified either by the host government or by recognized authorities in the field. In the event of an injury, appropriate medical treatment is typically available only in/near major cities.  First responders are generally unable to access areas outside of major cities and to provide urgent medical treatment. U.S. citizens are encouraged to purchase medical evacuation insurance.  See our webpage for more  information on insurance providers for overseas coverage.

Local Laws & Special Circumstances

State of Exception:  Honduras is under a long-standing “State of Exception”. There may be restrictions on freedom of movement and other rights under this State of Exception. Monitor local media for updates and information on restrictions in specific neighborhoods.  

Criminal Penalties:  You are subject to local laws. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned. It is important for all U.S. citizens in Honduras to be aware that Honduran legal procedures and traditions differ greatly from those to which most Americans are accustomed.

Judicial procedures are not always clear or easily understood by foreigners, and significant delays during the investigation and trial dates are common. U.S. citizens, as well as Hondurans, are often held in jail for months, and sometime years, while awaiting trial.

Arrest Notification:  If you are arrested or detained, ask police or prison officials to notify the U.S. Embassy immediately. See our  webpage  for further information.

Special circumstances:

Customs Regulations:   Strict regulations apply to the import and export of items such as vehicles, medications, and business equipment.  Honduran law prohibits the export of artifacts from pre-colonial civilizations, as well as certain birds and other flora and fauna.  For specific information, contact the Embassy of Honduras in Washington, DC and see our  Customs Regulations . 

Individuals found to be in possession of illicit drugs, firearms, or more than $10,000 in currency are likely to be arrested and face prosecution by Honduran authorities. Fines for carrying more than $10,000 in undeclared currency can exceed one third of the total amount of currency carried by the traveler.

Medication and Medical Equipment:  Medical brigades traveling to Honduras are advised that they need to complete customs forms, as well as medical clearance forms, at least three business days prior to brining medications or medical equipment into the country. U.S. citizens taking part in medical missions to Honduras should contact Aduanas Honduras ( www.aduanas.gob.hn ) and ARSA ( https://www.arsa.gob.hn/ ) for information regarding the timeline for customs approval, the forms that are required, and restrictions on the types of medications and equipment that are allowed.

Firearms:   No one may bring firearms into Honduras, except for diplomats and other official travelers, or individuals participating in sporting events who have obtained a firearm permit from the Honduran Ministry of Security or Ministry of Defense prior to travel. Individuals who attempt to bring firearms into Honduras without an appropriate permit, will face prosecution for criminal possession and possibly trafficking of firearms.

Marine Safety and Oversight:   Honduran military personnel commonly board private vessels in Honduran territorial waters to verify crew and passenger documentation. Criminals have been known to pose as fisherman and commit armed assaults. If your vessel is hailed by a suspicious vessel, contact the U.S. Coast Guard by radio or INMARSAT at (305) 415-6800. U.S. citizens arriving to Honduras by sea, whether by private vessel or cruise ship, are subject to the same laws as other travelers.

Investment:   Many U.S. firms and citizens operating in Honduras have found corruption to be a serious problem. Due to poor regulation, financial investments pose high risks and have led to substantial losses.

Exercise extreme caution before investing in real estate. Fraudulent deeds are common and have led to numerous disputes. In addition, threats and violence have been used against U.S. citizens involved in property disputes. Numerous U.S. citizens have reported significant delays in resolving judicial cases and/or lack of cooperation from courts and the legal system.

Adventure Sports:   There is little to no oversight of safety standards in Honduras. You should research service providers to ensure they are using internationally acceptable or certified equipment, guides, safety measures, and instruction.

Travelers:  There are no legal restrictions on same-sex sexual relations or the organization of LGBTQI+ events in Honduras. However, many activists report that crimes committed against the LGBTQI+ community go unpunished. There have also been cases of police harassment of patrons in LGBTQI+ nightclubs. LGBTQI+ travelers should exercise caution, especially when expressing affection in public.

Staff, facilities, and supplies in Honduras often do not meet U.S. medical standards. There are adequate facilities in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula for advanced surgical procedures in case of non-elective emergencies.

Honduras lacks the infrastructure to maintain water purity and food safety. Diarrheal illness is very common even in large cities and luxury accommodations. Only sealed commercial water containers (bottles) are considered safe to drink.

Air pollution can aggravate or lead to respiratory problems during the dry season due to widespread forest fires and agricultural burning.

The State Department and the U.S. Embassy will not pay your medical bills:   Be aware that  U.S. Medicare  does not apply overseas. 

Medical insurance:   Make sure your health insurance plan provides coverage overseas. Most care providers overseas only accept cash payments. See our webpage for more  information on insurance providers for overseas coverage . We strongly recommend  supplemental insurance  to cover medical evacuation. 

Prescription medication:   If traveling with prescription medication, check with the  Embassy of Honduras in Washington, D.C . to ensure the medication is legal in Honduras. Always carry your prescription medication in original packaging with your doctor’s prescription. Always ensure you have enough medicine to cover your travel time, and research its availability in Honduras, or whether there is a viable replacement.

Medical Marijuana:   Marijuana, even for medicinal use and with a prescription, is illegal in Honduras. A traveler who is found to have any amount of marijuana in their possession (including vape cartridges, edibles, organic cannabis, etc.) will face criminal prosecution for possession or trafficking.

Vaccinations:  Honduras requires proof of Yellow Fever immunization if traveling to or coming from another country endemic with Yellow Fever. Check with your airline for vaccine requirements and be up-to-date on all  vaccinations recommended  by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Travel and Transportation

Road Conditions and Safety:  Because of crime, poor road conditions, and heavy commercial truck traffic, driving in Honduras can be dangerous. The U.S. Embassy discourages car and bus travel after dark.  

  • Honduran roads are poorly lit and poorly marked.
  • Traffic signs are often inadequate or non-existent.  
  • Drivers don’t always use headlights at night.
  • People and animals wander onto the roads.
  • Rockslides are common, especially in the rainy season (May through December) and can cause closure of major highways.  

Dangerous stretches of road include:

  • The road between Tegucigalpa to Choluteca:  Be aware of mountain curves.
  • The road from El Progreso to La Ceiba:  Bridges may be in poor condition due to regular flooding.
  • CA-5 and the highway between San Pedro Sula and Tela, particularly near the palm tree plantations near El Progreso:  Carjackings and robberies that target SUVs and usually occur at night.
  • The road from Juticalpa to Telica, and from the turn off to Gualaco on Route 39 to San Esteban and Bonito Oriental:  Rival criminal elements engage in violent acts against one another. Avoid this road and stay on the main Tegucigalpa-Juticalpa-Catacamas road while traveling in Olancho.

While Honduras and the United States have signed and ratified a Stolen Vehicle Treaty, existing Honduran laws protect good faith buyers (even of stolen vehicles), so the recovery and return of these vehicles to their original owners is not guaranteed. Vehicle insurance may mitigate loss; please check with the  National Insurance Crime Bureau  or with private insurance carriers about coverage details.

Traffic Laws:   In an accident, contact the Honduran Transit Authority (“Transito”) by dialing 911.  

  • Honduran law requires all vehicles involved in an accident to remain in place until Transit Authority agents arrive. 
  • Notify your car insurance company as soon as possible, preferably right after the accident. 
  • Carry personal identification documents, including your driver’s license, copies of passports, and vehicle registration cards while driving.

Public Transportation:   Avoid public transportation in Honduras.  

  • If you must travel by bus, always travel during daylight hours and on first-class conveyances, not economy buses. 
  • Choose taxis or rideshares carefully. Use Radio-Taxi services (companies that operate by phone) or app-based rideshare programs rather than hailing a taxi on the street and note the driver’s name and license number. Hotels and resorts may be able to recommend trusted taxi or shuttle services. Instruct the driver not to pick up other passengers, agree on the fare before you enter the vehicle, and have small bills available for payment, as taxi drivers often do not make change.
  • When possible, travel in groups.

GHANA TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals traveling to Ghana are required to strictly adhere to the following new directives as stated by Ghana’s President during his 16 th address to the Nation on Measures Taken Against the Spread of the Coronavirus:

  • All passengers arriving in Ghana must be in possession of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from an accredited laboratory in the country of origin and the test must have been done not more than seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled arrival in the country. All airlines have been instructed to ensure compliance with this directive for all passengers traveling to Ghana;
  • All passengers would be required to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test at the airport terminal upon arrival in Ghana at a fee of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) to be borne by the passenger. The test result will be available within thirty (30) minutes;
  • Children under the age of five (5) will not be required to undergo testing at the airport;
  • Passengers who test positive for COVID-19 will be handled by the health authorities for further clinical assessment and management; and
  • Passengers who test negative will be admitted into the country and will be advised to continue to observe COVID-19 safety precautions during their stay in Ghana.

INTRODUCTION 

Following the declaration of the novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a global Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30th January 2020, several countries instituted measures to curb the spread of the disease. In Ghana, similar measures were instituted in addition to the Executive Instrument (EI) 61 requiring some practices to be enforced.

As part of plans to reopen the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, the Ghana Health Service/Ministry of Health has instituted measures to prevent and control the spread of COVID 19 in Ghana related to international travel. The outlined measures below are applicable to flight crew and passengers arriving and/or departing KIA within the period of reopening the airport to international travel until further advised.

The Ghana Health Service in collaboration with other partners will provide Port Health Services to ensure safety of flight crew, passengers and users of the airport. Port Health Services at the airport includes all health-related activities within the terminal including laboratory testing, inspection of relevant health documents, screening and triaging of passengers and the management of ill persons including transfer to appropriate health facilities; environmental inspections, supervision of cleaning and disinfection of aircraft and the entire airport terminal among others.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR DEPARTING AND ARRIVING PASSENGERS 

All passengers departing or arriving on international flights at KIA including those from the ECOWAS region will be required to meet the health requirements outlined below prior to admission into Ghana by the Ghana Immigration Service.

  • Departing Passengers 

All passengers on international flights departing KIA will be required to adhere to COVID-19 testing requirements for the destination countries. All persons must be wearing a face mask appropriately (extending from the middle of the nasal bridge to halfway between the chin and the neck) and adhere to social distancing and hygiene protocols. Departing passengers will under g o COVID-19 screening including the checking of temperature.

  • Arriving Passengers 

All arriving passengers must not have any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 including body temperature >38°C. They must be in possession of a COVID-19 negative PCR test result from an accredited laboratory in the country of origin. The test should have been done not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure time from the country of origin. For passengers who transit through other countries before arriving in Ghana, the first country of departure will be the reference point. For passengers who depart Ghana and return within one (1) week, the passengers will not be required to present a COVID-19 test result from the country of departure. A negative COVID-19 test from Ghana used on departure will serve as evidence of meeting the COVID-19 test criteria for arriving in Ghana. In addition, all persons must be wearing face masks appropriately upon arrival (extending from the middle of the nasal bridge to halfway between the chin and the neck). All passengers will be subjected to a mandatory COVID-19 test at the airport terminal at the cost to the passenger. All persons testing positive will receive further clinical assessment and treatment. All persons testing negative will be advised to continue to observe COVID-19 safety precautions following arrival in Ghana.

  • 5 . Exemptions 

The following categories of passengers and crew are exempt from COVID-19 PCR test Testing:

  • Children under-5 years of age will not be required to undergo testing at the airport;
  • Persons who arrive under emergency circumstances such as diverted flights will not be required to undergo testing if they do not leave the airport or if they remain in transit such that they do not leave the hotel; and
  • Airline crew are exempt from the pre-departure and arrival testing and should follow airline policy for testing.

MANAGEMENT OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES

All persons testing positive will receive further clinical assessment and treatment. Confirmed COVID 19 positive will be handled by the Port Health Unit for the remainder of their arrival processes. Following completion of the arrival procedures, they will be sent to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for further clinical assessment and management. All persons testing negative will be advised to continue to observe COVID-19 safety precautions following arrival in Ghana.

New requirements are now in force when entering Ecuador. 

From 30th August 2021, a Traveler Health Declaration (Declaración de Salud del Viajero) is required to be submitted at the point of origin.

Previously, a similar health form was required to be submitted upon entry to Ecuador.

Why the change of procedure? 

Airlines previously provided the Traveler Health Declaration to passengers during the flight so they could fill it in and then hand it to the authorities upon landing. 

However, due to more people starting to arrive in Ecuador, this current approach was causing delays as many passengers were only filling in the form once they arrived in either Quito or Guayaquil. 

So, the idea is that by ensuring each passenger has already provided the form to the airline before departing, then the arrival process will be better organized with less waiting around. 

If it helps remove lines & congestion at Ecuador's arrival airports, then this is a very welcome move. I recall my trip back to Ecuador in July 2020. This was around the time the new health questionnaire was introduced and it was quite a chaotic process. 

Now, I'm sure the process has evolved over time to something more organized and professional. But, further improving the entry procedure can only be a good thing for travelers.

What questions does the form cover? 

It's very straightforward. It mainly covers practical information about your trip to Ecuador, including where you'll be staying. From a COVID perspective, the most important part of the form is at the bottom where they ask several health questions.

The current entry requirements to enter Ecuador are as follows. In addition to completing the Traveler Health Declaration, passengers over 2 years of age must present: 

  • Negative PCR test, within last 72 hours; OR
  • Vaccination card against Covid-19, completed at least 14 days prior to departure

I may not be able to fill out the health form for Ecuador. I'm fully vaccinated with two boosters. Can I still fill out the health form on the plane to Ecuador. Plant to go to Quito.

Entry Requirements

Most visitors arriving to the Dominican Republic–including those from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mexico, many South American countries, Central America, Japan, Israel, etc. do not need a visa to enter the country. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGNERS ENTERING THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AS TOURISTS

Foreigners entering the Dominican Republic as tourists must comply with the following requirements:

  • Passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months.
  • Air, maritime or land ticket of entrance and return.
  • A permanent address in the Dominican Republic.
  • Proof of sufficient economic solvency to cover their expenses during their stay in the Dominican Republic.

EXCEPTIONAL MEASURES ON THE VALIDITY OF TOURIST PASSPORTS, VALID FROM JUNE 1, 2023 TO MAY 30, 2024.

EXCEPTIONAL MEASURES FOR THE NATIONALS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, UNITED KINGDOM, CANADA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, BRAZIL, CHILE, ARGENTINA, COLOMBIA AND ECUADOR.

The nationals of the countries that integrate the European Union, England, Canada, United States of America, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador, who enter the Dominican Republic, exclusively for tourist purposes, are authorized to do so with their valid and in force passports, and that the same remain in force during their stay and departure from the Dominican territory. This exceptional measure was implemented by the Dominican authorities as of June 1, 2023 and remains in force until May 30, 2024.

EXCEPTIONAL MEASURES FOR DIPLOMATIC OFFICIALS, PERMANENT MISSIONS, INTERNATIONAL AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS, ETC.

The following foreigners are exempted from the above, under the condition of reciprocity:

  • Diplomatic officers and consular officials accredited in the Dominican Republic, as well as other members of Permanent or Special Diplomatic Missions of Consular Posts and their family members who, by virtue of the rules of International Law, are exempt from the obligations related to obtaining a migratory category of entry.
  • Representatives and delegates, as well as the other members, and their relatives, of Permanent Missions or Delegations before the Intergovernmental Organizations with headquarters in the Dominican Republic or in International Conferences held in the Dominican Republic.
  • Officials assigned to International and Intergovernmental Organizations with headquarters in the Dominican Republic and their family members, as well as holders of Dominican diplomatic and official visas.

EXCEPTIONAL MEASURES FOR NATIONALS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WHO DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED IN THE LAW AND ITS REGULATIONS.

Without detriment to the provisions of this Resolution and pursuant to the discretionary power that the Law grants to the Director General of Migration, he may authorize the entry into the country of foreigners of U.S. nationality who do not meet the requirements established in the law and its regulations, when there are exceptional reasons of a humanitarian nature, public interest or compliance with commitments made by the Dominican Republic. Each authorization constitutes a case in point and, consequently, does not constitute a binding reference or precedent.

EXCEPTIONAL MEASURES FOR CITIZENS OF CUBAN NATIONALITY LEGALLY RESIDING IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA COMING FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Citizens of Cuban nationality legally residing in the United States of America, coming from the United States of America, are authorized to enter the Dominican Republic as tourists, even with an expired passport for no more than twenty-four (24) months, as long as they have their “Permanent Resident Card” (also known as “Green Card”), which guarantees their legal capacity to reside permanently in the United States of America. This exceptional measure will be implemented by the Dominican authorities for an indefinite period of time, starting June 1, 2023.

ACCEPTANCE OF BOARDING OF FOREIGN PASSENGERS TO DOMINICAN TERRITORY BY AIRLINES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ESTABLISHED PROVISIONS.

The General Directorate of Migration shall communicate the present Resolution to the airlines authorized to operate in the Dominican territory, so that they take into consideration the provisions previously established for the entry into the national territory of the referred foreigners, taking into account their respective nationalities, the purpose of their stay and the time of permanence in the national territory. Therefore, the airlines may accept the boarding of passengers of the nationalities previously established with destination to the Dominican territory in accordance with the above provisions.

Note : Any other provision established by the Resolution contrary to the provisions herein is hereby repealed.

MEASURES FOR DOMINICAN CITIZENS HOLDING A DOMINICAN PASSPORT ARRIVING FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

The aforementioned measures do not apply to Dominican citizens holding a Dominican passport entering the Dominican Republic from another country.

ROUND TRIP FLIGHT TICKET

As of April 28, 2023, during the process of registration and verification of travel documents prior to boarding, national and foreign air operators operating to and from the Dominican Republic must ensure that all foreign passengers have an air ticket to and from the Dominican Republic (roundtrip). Dominican national passengers, as well as foreigners residing in the Dominican Republic, are exempted from this requirement.

The national and foreign air operators are responsible for the strict compliance of such requirement. Failure to comply with the above will result in the denial of entry to the Dominican Republic of foreign passengers, as well as the corresponding sanctions to national and foreign air operators, established by the General Directorate of Migration of the Dominican Republic.

  E-Ticket

All foreign and Dominican passengers entering or departing the Dominican Republic on commercial flights must complete the free electronic entry and exit form at:  https://eticket.migracion.gob.do

It is no longer required to fill it out 72 hours prior to the trip . It can be filled out as soon as you have your flight information, even months in advance. However, it must be filled out before arriving at the airline counter at the airport, as it is required to present it to the airline. To avoid delays at the airport, it is advised to complete the form before the trip.

If your specific home city is not shown in the form, you can choose the nearest large city in your state or province. If you are staying at a vacation rental, please ask the host to provide the complete address, including province, municipality and sector.

If you are  traveling as a family , you must fill out the form with the data of all the family members who will be traveling, however, it is only necessary that a single user be created in the system and that this user fill in the data of all the members of the family that belong to that trip, up to 6 members additional to the one filling out the form (7 persons in total per form). It is not necessary for each traveler in the same family to fill out an individual form. If more than 7 people are traveling, you must fill out an additional form for the rest. Children do not fill out the Customs section, only adults. A single QR code will be generated for the family.

You can print or make a screenshot of the arrival and departure confirmation QR codes. If you need to make any changes to the E-TICKET, you can consult it with the application code that was issued when you started filling out the form and make changes.

Passengers arriving on private flights, non-commercial vessels, ferries, cruise ships, etc., do not need to fill out the E-TICKET. The physical Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms will be accepted for the aforementioned passengers.

The Dominican Republic issues tourist, business, work, student, and residency visas. Tourist visas can be issued for one or several entries.  Any person, regardless of their nationality, can visit Dominican Republic if they are a legal resident of or, if they have one of the following valid visas in their passport: United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Schengen. Travelers who do not have a passport or visa from countries listed above or from other authorized countries will need to apply for a visa. To issue a visa the passport needs to have a validity of at least six (6) months.

  • Medicines for personal use, in quantities that justify the exclusive use of the passenger. In the case of medicines that contain psychotropic substances, you must present the prescription for their use.

Yellow Fever Vaccine

IS THE YELLOW FEVER VACCINE REQUIRED FOR PASSENGERS COMING FROM BRAZIL? All passengers arriving in the Dominican Republic from the Brazilian states of Espiritu Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, must present their International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (CIVP) showing proof of vaccination against yellow fever at least 10 days prior to their arrival in the country.

Exempt from this provision are children under 10 months of age, pregnant women and travelers who have only transited for a period of less than 12 hours at an airport in any of the Brazilian states mentioned above. Any person who has a contraindication to the vaccine must present a medical certificate justifying it.

IS THE YELLOW FEVER VACCINE REQUIRED FOR PASSENGERS AND CREW MEMBERS COMING FROM THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA? As of October 15, 2021, all passengers and crew members arriving to the Dominican Republic from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela must present the Vaccination Card, evidencing that they have been vaccinated against yellow fever. This measure also applies to all passengers coming from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela arriving to the Dominican Republic from another country, and for those who have been in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the last 14 days or less. This measure applies to all passengers aged one (1) or over.

Malburg Virus

SUSPENSION OF ENTRY OF PASSENGERS AND CREW FROM THE REPUBLIC OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA DUE TO MALBURG VIRUS. As of February 21, 2023, the entry into the Dominican Republic of passengers and crew coming from the Republic of Equatorial Guinea is suspended, due to the sanitary alert declared in said country for the Marburg virus.

This measure also applies to all passengers and crew coming from a third country that have been in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea since February 8, 2023, as well as transit passengers and minors.

This measure may be revised, rescinded, or extended by the Dominican Civil Aviation Board, according to updates received on the health alert issued by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Requirements to Travel to Panamá

To enjoy your trip to Panamá, you must comply with the following documents and regulations:

  • Valid passport within at least six months of expiration
  • Return ticket to the country of origin or the next destination to visit
  • Proof of economic solvency of at least five hundred dollars (USD $500.00) in cash, credit card, bank reference, work letter, or traveler's checks. Some nationalities must present a higher amount. FAQ: Mexico Health Declaration Form for Air Travel

If you’re flying to or from Mexico in 2021, you’ll need to fill out an official Mexico Health Declaration form .

While COVID-19 has restricted where many people can travel to, Mexico never closed its doors.

Hotspots like Cancun, Playa del Carmen , Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta were already popular destinations prior to 2020, but are drawing even more international tourists now.

However, visitors will still need to abide by social distancing rules, mask requirements, and additional precautions such as completing a health questionnaire upon arrival as well as prior to returning home.

What is the health declaration form?

The health declaration form is a questionnaire every passenger entering and exiting Mexico is required to fill out which includes the following details:

  • Flight and contact information
  • Cities/countries visited in the last 14 days
  • If you’ve been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus
  • If you have any COVID-19 symptoms

Note: All of this information can be found on the FAQ page of the new Vuela Seguro (Fly Safe) platform, which is the updated version of the health questionnaire formerly hosted on afac.hostingerapp.com .

Discrepancies

According to the Vuela Seguro FAQ page , the form is supposed to be filled out for both flights coming into and leaving from Mexico.

However, most visitors have reported they’ve only been asked to complete and show it upon their departure when returning home.

Whether or not you’ll be checked for the form may vary depending on the airport.

Do I need to complete the COVID health questionnaire online or can I complete it at the airport?

You can complete the questionnaire upon arrival in Mexico or up to 12 hours before your flight, according to the declaration form website .

Prior to May 2021, there was also the option to fill out a paper version of the form that that is no longer available.

Where can I find the Mexico health declaration online?

The Mexico health declaration form can be found at vuelaseguro.com . This is the same questionnaire used for all airports in Mexico, for both entry and exit.

After creating an account, click on the “Register Here” option to register a health questionnaire.

Next, click “Add Questionnaire” and hit “Accept” after reading the information on the pop-up box.

After that, you’ll be able to fill out the form.

Once you’ve completed your form, you’ll be able to access your personal QR code.

What are the entry requirements to travel to Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The travel requirements to fly into Mexico at this time are no different than pre-COVID other than the health questionnaire.

Are there any quarantine requirements after arriving in Mexico?

No. You are free to enjoy your stay as soon as you arrive.

Are there any COVID-19 testing entry requirements in Mexico?

No. You do not need to show a negative coronavirus test result upon arrival. You may, however, face health screenings such as a temperature check at the airport.

What are the requirements to exit Mexico at this time?

The requirements to fly home from Mexico will depend on the country you are going to. 

For American travelers, a negative COVID-19 test is required within 3 calendar days before your flight or official documentation of recovery if you were previously infected within the last 90 days.

The types of COVID test requirements can also vary by states within the U.S., so you’ll need to verify what the specific requirements will be for you.

PCR tests are generally more expensive, ranging from 950-4500 MXN (46-220 USD) while rapid antigen tests can cost between 200-1000 MXN (10-49 USD).

There are many clinics, labs, and resorts that offer testing. Just keep in mind that depending on the location (tourist area vs. local) and speed of results (24 hours vs. a few days), the price of the COVID test can either be very expensive or budget-friendly.

I needed an antigen test to fly to my U.S. destination, so I went to a popular pharmacy called Farmacias del Ahorro , which has branches all across the country.

The rapid test cost 346 MXN (17 USD) and I got my results within the same day.

Do kids need a Health Declaration form filled out also?

As far as I understand, every passenger is required to have one.

If you want to make sure you don’t get held up in line or sent back to fill out an extra form, I’d suggest just filling them out online for your kids anyway as it only takes a minute.

What happens if I traveled to a European Country (Portugal) 12 days before my flight to Mexico? Will that effect my entry into Mexico? The questionnaire asks for which cities and countries you have traveled to in the last 14 days.

Yes, the questionnaire asks for your recent travel history and as far as I know, it’s just to have on record/ for contact tracing purposes. I’d recommend getting in touch with the Mexican Embassy as they’ll be better equipped to answer your question.

On this page, I clicked on the box that says “REGISTER HERE your Health Questionnaires and SEE your QR’s” and it took me to this page: https://www.vuelaseguro.com/home/questionnaire .

The problem I have now is that when I enter my flight details (for next week) I get this error message: “Can not load a flight more than 12 hours in advance”.

My flight from London to MEX is around 12 hours so there’s no way I could be able to fill in the questionnaire before my flight actually takes off from London.

Am I looking at the right place? If not, can you send me the correct link to the questionnaire? Thanks.

Thanks for letting me know about the redirect. It looks like this is the new platform for filling out the form and I’ve just updated this post with the new info.

According to Vuela Seguro’s FAQ page , you should be able to fill out the form 12 hours prior to your flight, not 12 hours before entering the country. If you’re still unable to fill it out before your flight, then you can still complete it after landing in Mexico.

Hi, just flew in to Cozumel on May 25 from the USA and they were’t looking for the health declaration any more.

Thanks for the update! I wasn’t asked for the form either when entering Cancun earlier this year but it was a requirement to fly out. As far as I know, the health declaration is still an official requirement for both entering and exiting the country, but maybe enforcement varies from airport to airport.

Do we need one online Mexican health declaration per household? What if we don’t have a cellphone to fill out online?

According to the Vuela Seguro FAQ page , it’s one declaration per passenger and those without a way to fill it out online should “go to the nearest airport assistance module at least 30 minutes in advance so they can help you complete your Assisted Health Questionnaire” after checking in.

Asking this question for my supervisor…does questionnaire need to be completed 12 hours before or can it be done days before traveling? He prefers to complete in US as opposed to when he arrives in Mexico.

According to the Vuela Seguro FAQ page , the questionnaire can only be completed up to 12 hours prior to the flight.

How to fill out the Cuba D’Viajeros Travel Form

Getting ready to travel to Cuba? Make sure you follow our steps to complete the D’Viajeros travel form before you travel. The form must be completed and shown at the airport before and after travelling to the island and requires passengers to input data such as their passport information, travel plans, and customs declarations.

Filling D’Viajeros form is mandatory for each passenger, and although it can be a bit confusing, we’re hoping our easy guide will help you fill it in without issues!

Step 1: Go to this site https://dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu/inicio

You can only fill in this form 48hrs prior to departure so don’t even try beforehand!

The first screen you’ll see looks like this:

Step 2: Select your language

If you don’t speak Spanish then click Top Right Hand ‘Lenguaje’ tab for the dropdown language menu and choose Ingles/ English which will instantly translate the page for you!

Step 3: Click on ‘Form Request’ to start the process

A form will appear on the page.

Step 4: Fill in your personal data

Please note mandatory fields in RED. When you’ve done this, click the button that says ‘NEXT’.

Step 5: Migratory information

Fill in ‘Flight information’ and ‘Arrival Airport’. If you’re arriving in Havana, it’s Aeropuerto Internacional Jose Marti (HAV)

Step 6: Sanitary Information

Fill in information ‘Sanitary Information’ including ‘Vaccination information’. If you haven’t been vaccinated you should have a negative PCR test (although currently not mandatory for entry to Cuba. Please refer to UK GOV’s Cuba entry requirements here )

Step 7: Select your vaccination type from the drop-down menu

Make it easy for yourself and just select La Habana 🙂 When it comes to Municipalities , choose Habana Vieja or Plaza de la Revolucion for accommodation in the Vedado area.

  • If you’re staying in a Casa Particular choose House or room for rent and add the name and address we have given you for your first night’s stay.
  • If you’re staying in a Hotel choose Hotel , then select a hotel from the drop-down menu

Step 10: Customs Information

There is no requirement to declare what you are bringing unless you are bringing more than $5,000 in cash or miscellaneous non-personal items worth more than $1,000.

Please make sure you tick the boxes asking whether you have any unaccompanied baggage AND if you have anything to declare to Customs.

Step 11: Sworn declaration

Nothing confusing here….

Step 12: The PDF

Make sure you view PDF and print it or save it.

With other QR codes, you get sent a copy via email, but NOT so with Cuba! This is why it’s critical that you’ve saved a copy. I print a version AND put a copy in my phone wallet just in case….

U.S. citizens will need a passport valid for six (6) months beyond the entry date. 

South American residents or travelers must provide proof of vaccination against yellow fever. 

Others should check with the Honduran Embassy for their specific requirements.

Customs Declaration Form

Please note that all travelers entering and exiting Honduras are required to complete a customs declaration form. Only one form per family is needed. We recommend completing this form digitally and using the dropdown menu to select either English or Spanish to facilitate your process. However, if you are unable to complete the form digitally, please contact your airline, as they may be able to provide you with a paper form. INM 001-24 PRESS RELEASE The National Institute of Migration (INM) informs the national and international community that on the instruction of President Xlomara Castro: 1. As of December 12, 2023, pre-screening for national and foreign users is no longer a mandatory requirement to leave or enter Honduras. 2. The main purpose of this provision is to speed up the process of obtaining a transfer at the various border points of the country and to facilitate the procedure for the transfer of users via air, land, or sea. 3. The immigration pre-check will only be a mandatory requirement for Nicaraguan citizens, who must carry it out seven (7) days before the scheduled date of departure to Honduras, by entering the platform: prechequeo.inm.gob.hn 4. The INM will maintain the necessary controls, security verifications, and protocols to guarantee the protection of the users entering and leaving the country.

Entry Requirements for the Dominican Republic (Updated 2024)

Traveling to the Dominican Republic is a Visa-Free seamless experience for visitors from various countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mexico, many South American countries, Central America, Japan, Israel, and more. As of April 23, 2022, the travel landscape has evolved, bringing noteworthy changes to visa requirements and COVID-19 protocols.

Saona Island

Airports and other ports of entry will perform a quick, aleatory breath test to between 3% and 15% of passengers, and all those who present symptoms, upon arrival. Passengers under the age of five and crew members are exempt from this procedure. All passengers will also need to perform a temperature check. Passengers who present symptoms or whose test results are positive will be isolated and attended at authorized locations. Prior to departure, travelers should confirm with their airline provider and airport of origin regarding any testing or other related requirements for inbound flights to the Dominican Republic, or necessary requirements needed upon arrival to their country of origin.

Presentation of vaccination cards upon arrival in the Dominican Republic In accordance with the protocols approved by the Civil Aviation Board within the framework of its faculties, the presentation of vaccination cards will  NOT  be required for passengers arriving in the Dominican Republic.

Admission to hotels, resorts and services offered therein To enter the hotels and services offered within them and to enter hotel complexes, it will not be necessary to present the vaccination card against COVID-19, nor the negative PCR test, taking into consideration the application of the strict Protocols of Risk Management previously approved for the sector.

All airports and tourism activities in the Dominican Republic are open, as well as the ports, marinas and anchorage facilities to receive yachts, ferries, and cruise ships.

The Dominican Republic adopted an electronic system providing digital versions of the Traveler’s Health Affidavit, Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms, combined in a single digital form. All passengers entering and departing the country on commercial flights will be required to fill out and submit their digital forms through the  Electronic Ticket Portal  either before or upon their arrival to the country. To save time during the arrival procedure, we recommend filling out the form 72 hours before the trip, printing or making a screenshot of the QR code and keeping it on hand until arrival, where it will be scanned by the authorities when the passenger goes through Customs. Passengers will need to fill out a form for arrival and another one for departure and the system will generate two QR codes. The QR code will not be scanned during departure, but it is a confirmation that the form was completed correctly. If you need to make a change to the form, in the E-ticket portal you can select the option to consult the issued E-ticket, enter the application code of the form and make the necessary changes. Dominican airports have free internet access, so that passengers who did not fill out the form before flying can do so when they arrive in the country. For additional information and to watch an instructional video, please visit:  https://viajerodigital.mitur.gob.do/ .  Passengers arriving on private flights, non-commercial vessels, ferries, cruise ships, etc., do not need to fill out the electronic form. The physical Traveler’s Health Affidavit, Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms will be accepted for the aforementioned passengers.

If staying beyond 30 days, expect an additional fee upon departure–determined on a sliding scale according to the total length of your stay.  See the applicable fees and upload required documents  here , to be paid online before departure or at the airport’s immigration section–after check-in and past security–upon departure.

The Dominican Republic issues tourist, business, work, student, and residency visas. Tourist visas can be issued for one or several entries.  Any person, regardless of their nationality, can visit Dominican Republic if they are a legal resident of or, if they have one of the following valid visas in their passport: United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Schengen. Travelers who do not have a passport or visa from countries listed above or from other authorized countries will need to apply for a visa. To issue a visa the passport needs to have a validity of at least six (6) months.

The departure tax is US$20. It is already included in your airline ticket fare.

Be sure to always check for up-to-date requirements before traveling.

You are allowed to bring the following items into the Dominican Republic:

  • A maximum of 20 packs of cigarettes, 25 cigars, or 200 grams of tobacco.
  • Up to three (3) liters in total of wine, beer, rum, whiskey, or liquor.
  • You may also bring in gifts of a value of up to US$500 (five hundred United States Dollars) once every three months.
  • Medicines for personal use, in quantities that justify the exclusive use of the passenger. In the case of medicines that contain psychotropic substances, you must present the prescription for their use.

Do You Need a Passport for Punta Cana?

Yes, a valid passport is a non-negotiable requirement for traveling to Punta Cana. Whether you’re arriving from the United States, Canada, Europe, or elsewhere, having a passport is mandatory for entry into the Dominican Republic. Make sure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your planned departure date.

Do Children Need Passports?

  • Yes, all travelers, regardless of age, need a passport to enter Punta Cana. This includes infants and minors.

Can I Use a Passport Card?

  • While a passport card is sufficient for land and sea travel to certain destinations, flying to Punta Cana requires a traditional passport book.

How Far in Advance Should My Passport Expire?

  • It’s recommended to renew your passport if it has less than six months of validity beyond your intended departure date to avoid any complications.

Do I Need a Visa in Addition to a Passport?

  • Most visitors to Punta Cana do not require a visa for short stays. However, check the specific visa requirements based on your nationality.

Is a COVID-19 Vaccination Card Required?

  • As of the latest update in April 2022, a COVID-19 Vaccination Card is not required for entry into Punta Cana. However, travelers should stay informed about any changes to travel protocols.

What if I Lose My Passport in Punta Cana?

  • Report the loss to local authorities and contact your embassy or consulate immediately. Carry a photocopy of your passport separately for such emergencies.

Can I Travel to Punta Cana with a Soon-to-Expire Passport?

  • To avoid potential issues, ensure your passport has ample validity, ideally more than six months, beyond your planned departure.

Many countries require a negative COVID-19 test before boarding your departing flight or entering your home country. Please confirm with the authorities of your destination country the specific type of viral test you need (PCR, antigen or antibodies) and the time it should be administered (48, 72 or 96 hours). General measures to protect against respiratory diseases include:

  • Frequently clean your hands (wash them with soap and water or alcohol solutions), especially after direct contact with sick people or their environment.
  • Avoid contact with people with signs of a respiratory illness, such as coughing or sneezing.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with disposable tissues when you cough or sneeze, and then wash your hands.

These measures also help protect you against frequent illnesses like the flu.

If you suspect that you have symptoms of COVID-19, the United States Center for Disease Control advises you to take the following steps:

  • Stay in your home or hotel room and call the doctor before going for a medical visit.
  • Avoid contact with other people and animals.
  • Wear a mask.
  • Cover your mouth or nose with a disposable tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid sharing personal items with others.
  • Clean all high-contact surfaces every day.
  • Monitor your symptoms.

The most common symptoms are fever, cough, and feeling short of breath. In some cases, there may also be digestive symptoms like diarrhea and abdominal pain. Symptoms can be aggravated in vulnerable individuals such as the elderly or people with compromised immune systems, among others.

COVID-19: general aviation flights arriving from and departing to Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela airports (MAIQUETIA FIR) are suspended.

These measures may be revised, rescinded, or extended by the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute and the Dominican Civil Aviation Board after evaluation of the circumstances that originated them.

In Thailand, there are several requirements that a Thai national returning to Thailand and international travelers arriving in Thailand need to show before being granted entry to the country. Included in the requirements is the document that monitors health upon entering Thailand, which is the Health Declaration Form or also known as the T8 Form .

Health Declaration Form or T8 Form

Health Declaration Form or the T8 Form is a form that is required to be filled in by all travelers entering Thailand. It is part of the initiative by the Thai government or Thai authorities to monitor travelers entering Thailand and to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

What to Expect in a Health Declaration Form or T8 Form

In a Health Declaration Form or T8 Form, travelers will be required to fill in personal details such as names, contact numbers, e-mail addresses, flight numbers, and other necessary information that will be helpful to determining and reaching out to the travelers entering Thailand.

To monitor the health and symptoms of travelers, the Health Declaration Form or T8 Form also requires travelers to check their selves if they have the following symptoms:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Sore Throat
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Enlarged Nymph Glands or Tender Lumps
  • And other health complications felt by the travelers that need to be specified by themselves.

The personal information you supply will mostly be utilized by Thai health officials for contact tracing if a COVID-19 case occurs on your aircraft or in your immediate proximity. 

Note: After the arrival date, your data will only be kept for 14 days.

All Travelers Entering Thailand Requires Health Declaration or T8 Form

Without regard to nationality or visa status, according to Section 12(7) of the immigration law, anyone who refuses to comply with the new regulation will be restricted from passing through immigration checkpoints and denied entry into Thailand. 

Note: Those who give false or erroneous information will face legal consequences.

Accessing and Obtaining Thailand Health Declaration Form or T8 Form

Travelers can have access to the Thailand Health Declaration Form or T8 Form the following:

  • The Airline (Airlines provide T8 Form)
  • AOT T8 Form App
  • Print one yourself

At all international airports in Thailand, you will be able to utilize the Thailand Health Declaration (T.8 form) when you arrive.

Note: Obtaining, and completing to fill out this form does not guarantee your entry to the Kingdom of Thailand. There are still requirements other than the Health Declaration Form or the T8 Form that travelers, both Thai nationals and non-Thai nationals need to bring or show before departure and upon arrival in Thailand.

Other Requirements other than the Health Declaration Form or T8 Form

As mentioned earlier, the Health Declaration Form or the T8 form is just one of the requirements. Listed below are the other requirements:

For Thai Citizens/Nationals returning to Thailand:

  • Thai Passport
  • Confirmed booked ASQ/SHA+ hotel
  • Confirmed booked flight.
  • Certificate of Entry (COE)
  • Medical or Health certificate issued at least 72 hours before the intended date of departure.
  • Certificate of Vaccination (vaccines should be approved by the World Health Organization or the Ministry of Public Health)
  • Downloaded ThailandPlus Application

For Non-Thai Nationals visiting/entering Thailand:

  • Declaration Form
  • Install ThailandPlus Application
  • Valid Thai Visa or Re-entry permit
  • Valid Passport with at least 6 months validity
  • COVID-19 Health Insurance Certificate
  • Confirmed Booked ASQ Hotel or SHA+ Hotel
  • Medical or Health Certificate stating a negative result from COVID-19. It shall be obtained not more than 72 hours before the intended date of departure. 
  • Vaccine Certificate (vaccines should be approved by the World Health Organization or the Ministry of Public Health)

Travelers Subject for Mandatory Quarantine

Aside from being health monitored by Thai authorities, for further security, protection, and prevention from COVID-19, Thai nationals and non-Thai nationals returning/entering Thailand are required to stay in a secured area for a specific number of days to make sure that they are COVID-19 free.

The number of days they are required to stay depends on their vaccination status:

  • 7 days if the travelers are fully vaccinated
  • 10 days if the travelers are unvaccinated
  • 14 days if the travelers are unvaccinated and are traveling by land/sea

With that in mind, the Thai authorities have given options of the secured areas for travelers to choose from:

Upon arrival in Thailand, they will be transferred to their booked ASQ hotel and are required to stay there and are not allowed to go out of their hotel rooms.

Upon arrival in Thailand, they will be transferred to their booked SHA+ hotel and are required to stay there while having the privilege to go outside.

Travelers are only allowed to travel to other Thailand destinations once completed their required number of stays.

Purchase COVID-19 Insurance

With the Health Declaration T8 Form monitoring your health for 14 days upon arrival, it is just right that if contracted with COVID-19 there is health insurance to save you from costs caused by the COVID-19 during your trip and stay in Thailand.

In purchasing your COVID-19 insurance, make sure that it has a minimum medical coverage of THB 3.5 million ($100,000) and make sure that it will cover the following:

  • Medical expenses (including medications, professional care, etc.)
  • Life Insurance (in cases that involves death)
  • Unexpected expenses caused by COVID-19 incidents (like loss of baggage, or missing of scheduled flights)

Americans will need Real ID to travel in 2025: Here are the requirements

The U.S. is a year away from requiring Real ID.

The United States is less than a year out from the Department of Homeland Security's federal requirement for Real ID for domestic flights and entering federal facilities, and to help you get ahead -- and avoid a dreaded hourslong wait at the DMV -- "Good Morning America" has gathered all the essential details you need to ensure your identification is up to date.

What is a Real ID?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security previously delayed the implementation of Real ID several times over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as of this week, U.S. residents have under a year to obtain their soon-to-be federally required form of identification.

Here's what you need to know:

The federal Real ID Act was passed by Congress in 2005 following the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the Federal Government "set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses," the DHS states on its website .

The new rules set out which forms of identification may be used to board flights within the United States and to enter secure federal facilities such as military bases, federal courthouses and other federal facilities.

Applying for a Real ID requires proof of identity, proof of residency and a trip to your local DMV. See below for more on the full requirements and application process details.

All U.S. states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories are issuing Real IDs.

Real ID application requirements

Requirements are largely similar across the states, but as of 2021, according to DHS , states are no longer required to collect a social security document from a Real ID applicant. They still must collect and retain the number as part of the application process to verify that information with the Social Security Administration as currently required by the Real ID regulations.

"Not all states have applied this, so please check with your state driver's licensing agency to find the most up to date information," the DHS website states.

In California for example, residents can apply for a Real ID by filling out an application online and upload documents before visiting a DMV office with their uploaded documents to complete the application, which should only take about 15 minutes in person, depending on wait times.

Here's everything California residents would need to provide for the application:

Proof of identity: One original or certified document. For example, a valid passport or birth certificate. Legal name change document is required if name on proof of identity is different from the name on the other documents such as a marriage certificate or adoption papers.

Proofs of California residency: Two documents, paper copies. For example, a utility bill or bank statement.

Earlier this week marked one year before DHS begins enforcing the Real ID requirement on May 7, 2025.

Starting on that date, a Real ID or other federally approved identification will be required to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

Federal agencies including Transportation Security Administration may only accept state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards as identification for the purposes of accessing federal facilities -- including TSA airport security checkpoints -- if the license or card was issued by a Real ID compliant state in accordance with the Real ID security standards.

Enhanced Driver's Licenses issued by Washington, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Vermont are considered acceptable alternatives to REAL ID-compliant cards, according to DHS , and will also be accepted for official REAL ID purposes.

What does Real ID look like?

The Real ID looks almost the same as a current state ID card or driver's license, but has a compliant star marking.

Some differences may vary by state, such as in California, where a small golden bear appears on the top right corner with the white star on the animal's left side.

If an ID says "federal limits apply," that person will not be able to board a domestic flight or enter federal facilities, such as military bases, federal courthouses, and other locations after the May 7, 2025, deadline.

Does Real ID replace a passport?

The Real ID does not replace a passport for international travel, however it ensures that travelers can fly domestic within the U.S. and access secure federal locations without additional documentation, according to the DMV.

From August 1, 2024, Onward: What Your Dog Needs to Enter the United States

At a glance.

Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the 6 months before entering the U.S. and where they received their rabies vaccines (if required).

Requirements for all dogs

Requirements for dogs with a current and valid rabies vaccination administered in the united states.

  • Requirements for foreign-vaccinated dogs that have been in a country with high risk of dog rabies within 6 months before entry

Requirements for dogs that have been ONLY in countries that are dog rabies-free or low-risk during the 6 months before entry

All dogs must:

  • Be at least 6 months of age at time of entry or return to the United States
  • This must have been implanted prior to any required rabies vaccination
  • The microchip number must be documented on all required forms and in all accompanying veterinary records
  • Dogs may not enter the United States if they are carrying a disease contagious to people.
  • Isolation of the dog, veterinary examination, and additional testing, at the importer’s expense, may be required to determine if the dog has a contagious disease and prevent spread if the dog does not appear healthy upon arrival.

This form should be filled out online ideally 2-10 days before arrival; however, it can also be completed right before travel (even in line at the border crossing) if you have internet access. If the information on the form changes before the dog arrives, you must submit a new form and indicate you are making changes to an existing form. All information, including port of entry where the dog is arriving, must be correct at time of arrival.

  • This form requires you to upload a clear photograph of the dog showing its face and body. Dogs that will be less than one year of age at time of arrival should have the photograph taken within 10 days before arrival.
  • There is no charge to importers for submitting this form.
  • Additional requirements for dogs with a current rabies vaccination administered in the United States
  • Additional requirements for dogs that have been in a country at high-risk for dog rabies within the 6 months before entry and do NOT have appropriate documentation of current US-issued rabies vaccine
  • Additional requirements for dogs that have been ONLY in countries that are dog rabies-free or low-risk in the 6 months before entry

Dogs that do not meet all entry requirements or do not have accurate and valid forms will be denied entry to the United States and returned to the country of departure at the importer’s expense. These requirements apply to all dogs, including service dogs and dogs that were born in the United States.

Specific requirements depend on whether the dog has been in a high-risk country for dog rabies  in the past 6 months.

Dogs with a current rabies vaccination administered in the United States that have been in a high-risk country for dog rabies must:  

  • Meet all requirements in the “All Dogs” section above
  • The Certification of U.S.-issued Rabies Vaccination form is required for the importation (re-entry) of U.S.-vaccinated dogs that have been in high-risk countries for dog rabies  within the 6 months before re-entry into the United States.
  • Please note, during the transition period, the importer may instead present a copy of the USDA endorsed export health certificate that was used to ship the dog from the United States, if that export health certificate documents the dog’s age (at least 6 months), the microchip number, and valid rabies vaccination administered in the United States. The rabies vaccination must be valid (not expired) on the date of return or the form will be invalid.
  • Arrive at the location listed on the CDC Dog Import Form receipt (This can be any airport, land border crossing, or sea port but you must select this location when you complete the CDC Dog Import Form.)

Dogs with a current rabies vaccination administered in the United States that have NOT been in a high-risk country in the last 6 months must:

  • A Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccine form that was endorsed by USDA before the dog departed the United States; or
  • Document a valid (unexpired) rabies vaccination administered in the United States (the form will be valid for the duration of the rabies vaccination (1 or 3 years)).
  • Arrive at the location listed on the CDC Dog Import Form receipt (This can be any airport, land border crossing, or sea port but you must select this location when you complete the CDC Dog Import Form .)

Important information about the Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccination Form

The Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccination form must be completed before the dog departs the U.S. Before asking your veterinarian to complete this form, verify the following requirements will be met:

  • Ensure your dog will be at least 6 months of age on date of return to the U.S.
  • Have your dog microchipped with an International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-compatible microchip (implanted before any required rabies vaccinations)
  • Ensure the veterinarian scans the dog for the ISO-compatible microchip and records the microchip number at the time of vaccine appointment. Rabies vaccines administered prior to microchip implantation will not be considered valid.
  • Ensure the rabies vaccination will be valid for the entire duration of your travels. If your dog’s U.S.-issued rabies vaccination lapses while overseas and your dog has been in a high-risk country in the past 6 months, your dog will need to be revaccinated overseas and meet requirements for foreign-vaccinated dogs to return to the U.S., including having a rabies serology titer, arriving at a specific port of entry, and possible quarantine requirements.
  • Your dog’s first rabies vaccination must be administered at least 28 days before travel.
  • Ensure the veterinarian submits this form to the USDA for official endorsement through the VEHCS portal
  • Your dog must travel with a printed copy of the official endorsed form upon your dog’s return to the United States if your dog has been in a high-risk country within the 6 months before returning to the U.S.

During the transition period, U.S.-vaccinated dogs that have been in a high-risk country in the past 6 months, may have either the Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccination form or the USDA endorsed export health certificate for re-entry into the United States. Without one of these forms your dog will need to meet the requirements specific to the risk category of the countries where they have been in the 6 months before returning to the United States.

The export health certificate must document the dog’s age (at least 6 months), microchip number, and the rabies vaccination date. The rabies vaccine must be valid (not expired) on the date of return or the form will be invalid.

Requirements for foreign-vaccinated dogs that have been in a country with high risk of dog rabies within 6 months before entry

Dogs, including service dogs, that have been in a country at high-risk for dog rabies within the 6 months before entry and do not have appropriate documentation of current U.S.-issued rabies vaccine must:

  • Meet all requirements in the “All Dogs” section
  • Ensure the dog is microchipped with an International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-compatible microchip before receiving the rabies vaccination and the number is recorded on the veterinary documents or the vaccine will not be considered valid
  • Verify the dog is at least 12 weeks (84 days) of age when vaccinated against rabies
  • The dog must have a valid (i.e., non-expired) rabies vaccination. If it’s the dog’s first vaccination or if the dog’s vaccination coverage has lapsed, the vaccine must be administered at least 28 days before arrival to the United States.
  • The Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip form must be completed by your veterinarian AND endorsed by an official veterinarian in the exporting country.
  • The blood sample for the rabies serology titer must have been drawn at least 30 days after the dog’s first valid rabies vaccination and at least 28 days before entry to the U.S.
  • Dogs with a history of multiple valid rabies vaccinations administered after the microchip was placed may have the sample for the rabies serology titer drawn at any time after a rabies booster vaccination as long as the dog’s first vaccine was given at least 30 days before the blood sample was drawn and there has been no lapse in vaccine coverage. If a lapse occurs, the sample must be drawn at least 30 days after the valid booster vaccination was administered.
  • The sample must be sent to a CDC-approved rabies serology laboratory . If there is no CDC-approved laboratory in your country, your veterinarian may draw the sample and send it internationally to a CDC-approved laboratory.
  • Passing results must be obtained in order for a serology to be valid.
  • Rabies serology titer results will be considered valid for the life of the dog as long as the dog’s rabies vaccination coverage does not lapse. If a lapse occurs, a new rabies serology titer will be required and that sample must be drawn at least 30 days after the new vaccination was administered.
  • If the dog does not have a valid rabies serology titer, it will be required to be quarantined at a CDC-registered animal care facility for 28 days after the dog is revaccinated by the facility’s veterinarian.
  • All foreign-vaccinated dogs that have been in a high-risk country in the previous 6 months must have a reservation for examination, verification of age, documents, and microchip number, and administration of a rabies booster vaccination at a CDC-registered animal care facility immediately upon arrival in the United States.
  • Dogs that do not have a valid rabies serology titer must also have a reservation for quarantine. Dogs will be quarantined at the facility for 28 days at the importer’s expense after being revaccinated by the facility’s veterinarian.
  • All CDC-registered animal care facility expenses, including exam, revaccination, and quarantine (if required), are the responsibility of the importer.
  • The facility will need copies of all required documents prior to confirming your reservation.
  • Ensure the dog meets any facility-specific requirements (contact facility for additional information).
  • If after arrival the CDC-registered animal care facility determines that your documents are not valid or the dog’s microchip number, age, or description does not match the paperwork provided, the dog may be denied entry and returned to the country of departure at your expense.
  • Dogs that have evidence of illness or are not healthy will be required to have testing to confirm they do not have contagious diseases before they will be eligible for release, which may extend the required quarantine period beyond 28 days. Any required testing or extended stay in quarantine will be at the importer’s expense, so please ensure dogs are healthy upon arrival (including no evidence of fleas, ticks, or skin diseases).
  • Dogs must arrive to the U.S. at the airport where the CDC-registered animal care facility is located. This must be the location where the dog has a reservation.
  • This must also be the airport listed on the CDC Dog Import Form
  • Domestic flights or other forms of travel to other locations in the U.S. are not permitted until after the dog receives required follow-up services at the CDC-registered animal care facility and is cleared for entry.
  • SERVICE DOGS ARRIVING BY SEA : Service dogs, as defined in 14 CFR 382.3, may arrive by sea if they meet the requirements in the “All Dogs” section, have a complete Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip form and a valid rabies serology titer, and are traveling with their handler. Emotional support animals are not service animals under this definition.

Countries that are not on the list of countries at high risk for dog rabies  are considered to be free of or low risk for dog-mediated rabies virus variant (DMRVV) (called dog rabies-free or low-risk countries on these webpages).

Dogs, including service dogs, that have been ONLY in dog rabies-free or low-risk countries during the 6 months before entry into the United States must:

  • Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip form, including the endorsement by an official veterinarian of the dog rabies-free or low-risk country where the dog has been located; AND EITHER (1) a valid rabies serology titer OR (2) veterinary records* (which list the microchip number) for the dog from the exporting country for the previous 6 months. The form must be completed within 30 days before arrival to the United States.
  • Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccination form that was endorsed by USDA before the dog departed the United States
  • Is for the dog rabies-free or low-risk country where the dog’s return itinerary originated (the form will only be valid for 30 days if it does not contain rabies vaccination information), or
  • Documents a valid (unexpired) rabies vaccination administered in the United States (the form will be valid for the duration of the rabies vaccination (1 or 3 years)).
  • Certification of Dog Arriving from DMRVV-free or Low-Risk Country into the United States form endorsed by an official veterinarian in the exporting country; AND veterinary records* (which list the microchip number) for the dog from the exporting country for the 6 months before traveling to the U.S. The form must be completed within the 30 days before arriving to the United States.
  • Foreign export certificate that documents the dog is at least 6 months of age, lists the dog’s International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-compatible microchip number, and has been endorsed by an official veterinarian of the exporting country; AND veterinary records* (which list the microchip number) for the dog from the exporting country for the previous 6 months
  • Arrive at the location listed on the CDC Dog Import Form receipt (This can be any airport, land border crossing, or sea port but you must select it when you complete the CDC Dog Import Form .)

Any documentation that is not from the United States must be completed in the country where the dog’s travel originates. For example, if the dog’s documents were issued in France, the dog may not enter the U.S. via a land-border crossing from Mexico to the U.S.

*Examples of veterinary records that must accompany completed forms are European Union pet passports or proof of payment for veterinary services received in the exporting low-risk country for the previous 6 months. Records must include the dog’s microchip number.

PH rolls out single e-Travel QR code for travel, customs clearance

Passengers will now only have to present one QR code in all international airports nationwide starting May 10 for seamless immigration and customs clearance.

“In the past, separate QR Codes were generated for the Bureau of Immigration and Bureau of Customs purposes,” the BOC said in a message to GMA News Online on Friday, explaining the new scheme. 

“However, following the recent system update, the BOC is now fully integrated with e-Travel. As a result, only one QR Code is now generated, which encompasses all declaration requirements for Immigration, Quarantine, and Customs.”

The BOC said that passengers must present their passports to the Immigration officer for e-Travel registration confirmation and their QR codes to the Customs officer for clearance upon arrival or before departure.

Aside from the e-Travel website, travelers can also fill out the electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form (e-CBDF) and the electronic Currencies Declaration Form (e-CDF) via the eGovPH mobile app within 72 hours before arrival or departure.

“The e-CBDF must be filled out by all arriving passengers, while the e-CDF is filled out by arriving and departing passengers when they are bringing in or taking out local and/or foreign currencies beyond the allowed threshold,” said the BOC in a Thursday statement. 

Further, the BOC advised travelers who take out or bring in foreign currencies more than or equivalent to US $10,000 to declare the whole amount in the e-CDF. 

For the Philippine peso, a person may bring into or take out of the Philippines an amount not exceeding P50,000. 

For any amount beyond P50,000, the BOC requires prior written authorization from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP); and declaration of the whole amount in the e-CDF.

The BOC warned that false declarations or non-declaration of Philippine or foreign currencies shall result in confiscation of the amount by Customs officials. 

The bureau also noted that the BSP did not issue written authorizations upon arrival or after confiscation of the excess pesos. — DVM, GMA Integrated News

Across the UK, anger is brewing amongst some farmers.

Speaking to Sky political editor  Beth Rigby , Sir Keir Starmer has defended his decision to allow Tory MP Natalie Elphicke into Labour.

Ms Elphicke was on the right of the Conservative spectrum, and previously defended her sex-offender ex-husband, comments which she apologised for this week following her defection.

Addressing Tory voters, Sir Keir says he wants Labour to be a "place where they who have ambitions about their families, their communities, their country, can join and be part of what we are trying to build for their country".

Asked by Beth if he was ruthless, Sir Keir said: "Yes, I'm ruthless in trying to ensure we have a Labour government that can change this country for the better.

"Not ruthless for my own ambition, not ruthlessness particularly for the Labour Party - I'm ruthless for the country. 

"The only way we'll bring about a change in this country is if we're ruthless about winning that general election and putting in place a government of public service, that’ll be a major change.

"Politics, I believe, should be about public service, that's what I've been about all my life."

She reminded him that he previously ruled out doing a deal with the SNP - but has not done so for the Liberal Democrats.

Sir Keir again ruled out a coalition with the SNP - adding that he is aiming for a "majority Labour government".

He says Labour needs "to keep working hard, keep disciplined and getting our message across, which is something fundamental to me".

Pushed on his lack of ruling out a possible agreement with the Lib Dems, Sir Keir says: "I'm going for a majority.

"That's the answer I gave you a year ago. It's the same answer I'm giving you now."

Sir Keir Starmer was earlier today pushed on whether Rwanda deportation flights will take off if he was prime minister - although it was not clear if he would cancel flights which had already been organised.

Sky News understood that previously booked deportation flights to Rwanda would still go ahead if Sir Keir entered Number 10. 

But the Labour leader has now gone further.

Speaking to political editor Beth Rigby , Sir Keir has ruled out any flights taking off.

"There will be no flights scheduled or taking off after general election if Labour wins that general election," he says.

He says: "Every flight that takes off carries with it a cheque to the Rwanda government. 

"So I want to scrap the scheme - so that means the flights won't be going."

Sir Keir says he would rather spend the money on his own measures to counter small boats.

"No flights, no Rwanda scheme. It's a gimmick," he says.

Scotland's new first minister has told Sky News that the controversial gender recognition reforms "cannot be implemented."

John Swinney,  who became first minister this week , has faced questions over his stance on gender recognition after MSPs voted in 2022 to pass a bill to make it simpler for people to change their gender without having to obtain a medical diagnosis.

The UK government blocked the bill from being made into law and the Supreme Court rejected a request by the Scottish government for a judicial review.

Asked if he would be fighting to push the bill through, Mr Swinney told Sky News: "The reality of the situation we face is that the Supreme Court has said that we can't legislate in that area. We can't take forward that legislation."

The UK economy is no longer in recession, according to official figures.

Gross domestic product (GDP) grew by a better-than-expected 0.6% between January and March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Economists had predicted the figure would be 0.4%.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said it showed the economy had "turned a corner".

He told Sky News's Ed Conway: "I am pleased that while there's more work to do, today's figures show that the economy now has real momentum, and I'm confident that with time, people will start to feel the benefits of that.

"We've had multiple months now where wages are rising, energy bills have fallen, mortgage rates are down and taxes are being cut... I'm pleased with the progress that we're making."

Mr Sunak added: "I am confident the economy is getting healthier every week."

Rishi Sunak has criticised Sir Keir Starmer's position on Rwanda as "rank hypocrisy".

Speaking to broadcasters, the prime minister says the Labour leader has announced things the government is "already doing".

He gives the example of "punching through the backlog, having more law enforcement officers do more, that's all happening already".

"We've announced all of that more than a year ago," the prime minister adds.

"The question for Keir Starmer if he cares so much about that, why did he vote against the new laws that we passed to give our law enforcement officers new powers? 

"They've now used those to arrest almost 8,000 people connected with illegal migration, sentenced them to hundreds of years in prison.

"And if it was up to him, all those people would be out on our streets, so I think it's rank hypocrisy property of his position."
