Adventure Of The Seas Itineraries

Adventure of the seas review, review of adventure of the seas.

The 2001-built Adventure of the Seas cruise ship is the 3rd Voyager-class Royal Caribbean liner, with sisterships Explorer OTS , Navigator OTS , Mariner OTS , Voyager OTS .

The vessel (IMO number 9167227) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311263000) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is a US passenger shipping company, trademarked travel brand and subsidiary owned by Royal Caribbean Group (RCG/shipowner). RCI was established in 1968 and currently has over 1/5 of the worldwide cruise market. RCI also has RCG's largest fleet by both vessel number and GT tonnage (ship sizes and capacities).

All RCI liners have names ending with "of the Seas".

Adventure Of The Seas cruise ship (Royal Caribbean)

The 3700-passenger ship Adventure OTS has been bypassed in size and conveniences by the Freedom-class trio and the massive Oasis-class twins. However, it's still between the largest ships in the world, with a range of the most uncruise-like places at sea, like a rollerblading track, ice-skating rink and rock-climbing wall - not to mention the bustling hub Royal Promenade, which is a shopping mall-esque boulevard of retail shops, bars, clubs and cafes.

Decks and Cabins

Adventure Of The Seas staterooms (1691 total, in 33 grades) include 125 Suites, 650 Balcony, 242 OceanView, 138 Promenade View, 536 Inside. Most cabins are sized 150-160 ft2 (14-15 m2). Most cabin balconies are sized 50 ft2 (5 m2). The largest is Royal Suite (1090 ft2 / 101 m2 plus 215 ft2 / 20 m2 terrace with Jacuzzi). Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 27.

The boat has 15 decks , of which 14 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

From the meals in the three main dining rooms to the buffet choices in Windjammer Cafe and options available at 24-hour Cafe Promenade, food aboard Adventure OTS is well prepared with plentiful choices, especially considering the ship's capacity. The main dining rooms offer flexible "My Time Dining" during dinner. Guests can choose between assigned early or late dining, or opt for flexible dining.

Windjammer is the ship's buffet restaurant with an egg station at breakfast and a carving station at lunch. Vegetarians will do better in the MDR at lunch. The Windjammer, however, is an option for the nights when flexibility is expected. The buffet features the items offered on the main dining room menu. The Italian-themed Giovanni’s Table charges a US$20 per-person cover charge (specialty beverages, wine, beer and soda are paid separately), and offers a multi-course meal. Johnny Rockets is another speciality eatery, 1950's-style burger joint, where passengers can indulge in hot dogs, burgers, chilli fries and onion rings.

Follows the complete list of Adventure of the Seas restaurants and food bars.

  • Vivaldi Restaurant (544-seat aft Dining Room with fixed seating for Dinner)
  • Strauss Restaurant (502-seat aft, dinner only Dining Room, with two fixed seatings)
  • Mozart Restaurant (544-seat aft, dinner-only Dining Room, with Club Dining at 6 pm or 8:30 pm. and "Your Time Dining" 6-9:30 pm)
  • Windjammer Cafe Lido buffet restaurant (310-seat, offers Early Breakfast at 6:30 am, Breakfast between 7-11:30 am, Lunch 11.30-3:30 pm and Dinner 6.30-9 pm)
  • Johnny Rockets Restaurant (80-seat burger bar, an extra fee applied)
  • Giovanni’s Table (Italian specialty restaurant, reservations recommended)
  • Island Grill (454-seat).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

Atmosphere diversity is the key aboard Adventure of the Seas. The Lyric Theater has a great Art Nouveau interior; the solarium pool evokes the glories of Venice and the large Casino Royal centers on a Hollywood theme. The Duck and Dog Pub is ideal for Anglophiles, Champagne Bar is very stylish and Jester's Nightclub resonates with a Gothic vibe.

At night, Adventure of the Seas offers two kinds of entertainment - traditional-style productions (singing and dancing shows) presented in The Lyric, and goofy episodes like "Love and Marriage". Bar venues offer various musical performances aimed to please everybody at any time with classical guitar, jazz and country. Studio B Ice Rink hosts "Cool Art - Hot Ice" show. It is worth the effort to get a ticket (free of charge) but the venue is tiny, so tickets are limited.

Additional amenities include complimentary 24-hour Room-Service, supervised Youth program, Internet/WiFi Access, kids aqua park, FlowRider (surfing simulator).

Follows the complete list of Adventure of the Seas lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults.

  • The Lyric Theatre (1362-seat, features two grand productions per night with dance, acrobatics, comedy and game shows)

  • On Deck 4 were added Chops Grille (steakhouse restaurant offering dry-aged beef steaks) and Boleros Lounge and Bar (Latin-themed, with live entertainment).

During drydock 2016 refurbishment , on Adventure OTS (aft on Deck 13 ) was installed The Perfect Storm slides complex (“Cyclone” and “Typhoon”), first introduced on Liberty OTS  and  Harmony OTS . Adventure OTS became the first Voyager-class RCI ship with waterslides. On Deck 13 were also added the FlowRider (surfing simulator) and a 2-deck Mini-Golf Course (replacing the old 1-floor Adventure Dunes and the Inline Roller Skating Track).

The Perfect Storm is complimentary and includes 2 racer slides (“Cyclone” and “Typhoon”). Both spiraling slides are positioned portside and accessed via a 3-floor-high, glass-enclosed swirling staircase. There are no age restrictions, but there are passenger height and weight requirements - min 48 inches (122 cm) and max 300 lbs (136 kg).

Currently, Adventure OTS is RCI's only ship to have a Royal Promenade-located Izumi Restaurant (on deck 5). On the other Voyager-Class liners, Izumi is either on top-deck or on deck 4.

Itineraries

Adventure of the Seas itinerary program is based on roundtrips from homeports Galveston, Texas USA (to Western Caribbean/Mexico) and out of Cape Liberty NJ (NYC) to the Eastern Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada.

Following the Coronavirus crisis, for the period June 12th through September 11th (2021) RCI homeported Adventure OTS in Nassau Bahamas . The boat became RCI's first to restart operations. For the ex-Bahamas mini-season were scheduled 7-night roundtrips (not visiting ports in the USA) to Cozumel Mexico , Freeport (Grand Bahama) and CocoCay .

  • The unique for Royal Caribbean out-of-Bahamas voyages were offered as "fly-cruise" deals (flight+cruise packages), open for booking to customers of all nationalities, but with a limited number of shore excursions.
  • The previously planned Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona were canceled.
  • Traditionally for homeports, guests check-in at the cruise terminal then board the ship. However, for the Adventure OTS's ex-Bahamas season, RCI arranged the check-in to be conducted at British Colonial Hilton Nassau Hotel (downtown) from where passengers are transported to the ship.
  • For the airport transfers (from Lynden Pindling Airport to the Hilton Hotel) was contracted Nassau Airport Development Co (airport's operator). Bahamian companies were also hired for the hotel-to-ship luggage delivery.
  • All passengers had to bring passports, Bahamas Health travel visas, the original vaccination proof (copy), RT-PCR negative test results (for unvaccinated children). Kids under 10 yo were required to receive a SARS-Cov-2 test (prior to boarding the ship) and a rapid SAR-CoV-2 test onboard (complimentary, done on Day 6th of the voyage).

Adventure Of The Seas Wiki

Adventure OTS is one of Royal Caribbean's Voyager-class liners, with sisterships Explorer , Mariner , Navigator , Voyager . The vessel was constructed in 2001 in Finland by Aker Yards Oy, now part of STX Europe (a division of STX Holding / South Korea).

As one of the first passenger ships returning to NYC after the 9-11 attacks, Adventure OTS is in deep connection with New York City. As a tribute to the emergency services risking their lives to save other people, representatives of NYPD and FDNY gave the name of the ship - from FDNY (Kevin Hannafin and Tara Stackpole) and from NYPD (Richard Lucas and Margaret McDonnell). Ship's inaugural cruise (maiden voyage) started on November 18, 2001, out of San Juan Puerto Rico .

Adventure OTS ex-Nassau Bahamas cruises 2021 summer

Following the Coronavirus crisis, for the period June-August 2021, RCI homeported Adventure OTS in Nassau Bahamas. For the ex-Bahamas mini-season were scheduled 7-night roundtrips not visiting any ports in the USA.

7-day "Bahamas and Cozumel Cruise with 2 Days at Perfect Day" itinerary

Prices started from USD 1060 per person with double occupancy.

The unique for Royal Caribbean out-of-Bahamas voyages were offered as "fly-cruise" deals (flight+cruise packages), open for booking to customers of all nationalities, but with a limited number of shore excursions. The previously planned Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona were canceled.

Cruise 2018 itinerary changes due to drydocking

During the ship's 2016-2018 drydock refurbishment (USD 61 million renovation project) were added two waterslides (Cyclone, Typhoon), Splashaway Bay (waterpark), FlowRider, Izumi (Japanese restaurant), Chops Grille (steakhouse), Boleros Lounge, Suite Lounge, 100 new staterooms.

However, due to Hurricane Matthew, ship's drydock in Freeport Bahamas was only partially completed and finished in March 2018. To accommodate the 30-day dry-dock refurbishment in 2018 (January 31-March 1), RCI had to cancel all Adventure OTS 2018 cruises scheduled for the period January 13 - February 10.

Passengers booked on the affected itineraries were re-accommodated and offered as compensation the following package. USD 200 per cabin onboard credit, USD 400 per suite onboard credit (Junior Suite and above grades), flight change fee (due to airline reservation changes) up to USD 200 per person reimbursement for domestic / USA flights and USD 300 per person reimbursement for international flights.

The list of 2018 itinerary dates offered for rebooking was February 12, March 10, 17, April 7, 14. Substitute/alternative dates of departure were also offered on Jewel of the Seas - itineraries starting on January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 18, 25, March 4, 11.

Adventure Of The Seas refurbishments 2016-2018 review

Ship’s drydock 2016 refurbishment (October 17 – November 13) resulted in the following deckplan changes:

Adventure Of The Seas waterslides

  • On Sports Deck 13, the RCI’s signature waterslides “Cyclone” and “Typhoon” were installed. This made Adventure the first Voyager-class Royal Caribbean ship with water slides. Also on deck 13, a FlowRider (surfing simulator) was installed. Also here, a new 2-story mini-golf course was added (replacing the old 1-level Adventure Dunes).
  • On Spa Deck 12 (aft), the new “Splashaway Bay” kids aqua park was added. This is a new-design interactive water play area with cannons and geysers. It replaced the old Adventure Beach (outdoor kids playground).
  • The new water park and the duo of waterslides were first introduced on the RCI ships Liberty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas (Oasis-class).
  • Izumi (Japanese cuisine / sushi restaurant /a la carte priced) was added on deck 5 (starboard).
  • Chops Grille (steakhouse restaurant offering dry-aged beef steaks) was added on deck 4 (portside).
  • Boleros Lounge & Bar (Latin-themed entertainment) was added also on deck 4 (portside).
  • Over 100 new cabins were added, including spa staterooms (all oceanview) forward on deck 12. All the staterooms were renovated.
  • New exclusive Suite Lounge was added on deck 14 (portside).
  • RCI's budget for the Adventure OTS drydock refit and refurbishment was the impressive USD 61 million.

RCI scaled back some planned renovations due to damages at Grand Bahamas Shipyard (Freeport) caused by Hurricane Matthew. The ship exited drydock on Nov 14 (2016) as scheduled. Some of the planned changes were implemented - updated design and decor, renovated areas (Boleros, 2-story mini-golf course). However, there were ongoing works during the next 2016 cruises and into 2017-2018. Among those are:

  • Waterslides, FlowRider, Splashaway Bay - open on Dec 10, 2016.
  • Chops Grille (Deck 4 port side, across Schooner Bar).) and the Suite Lounge both open in March 2018. Also during the ship's 2018 drydock (February) will be added new inside and oceanview cabins.
  • Izumi and new staterooms will not be added.
  • Giovanni's Table offered select items from the Chops Grille menu until the steakhouse's opening in 2017.
  • On Deck 2 were added 5 Studio Interior cabins (category J). These staterooms are for solo travellers and are bookable without single supplement fees.

Passengers booked in the not yet built new staterooms were contacted by RCI Customer Service team representatives for re-accommodating. Passengers booked in Panoramic Oceanview cabins were offered free upgrades to balcony rooms plus USD 100 per cabin in onboard credit. All passengers booked on 2016 cruises (leaving between Nov 14 - Dec 3) were offered 25% Future RCI Cruise Credit based on the paid fares.

Adventure OTS refurbishment 2014 review

The list of deckplan changes after April 2014 drydock refurbishment included:

  • Cabin amenities were upgraded – new flat TVs in all cruise staterooms were added.
  • Digital signage (wayfinders) on several decks were installed. These touch-screen boards allow you to know your way around the ship.
  • Wi-Fi coverage was upgraded (now shipwide).
  • On Lido Deck 11 (in the main pool area) a huge movie screen (outdoor theatre) was installed.
  • On Spa Deck 12 the Royal Caribbean’s signature Nursery was added.
  • On deck 14 the “Diamond Club” lounge was added. This is a signature venue for “Crown & Anchor” (RCI loyalty program) members only.

New dining options (at additional charge) were introduced. These are “Giovanni’s Table” (Italian trattoria restaurant on deck 11) and “The Cupcake Cupboard” (ship bakery shop on Promenade deck 5).

9-Month Cruise Passenger Says It’s 'Bizarre’ to Be Returning to Land as Voyage Ends in Less Than a Week

Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise will officially end on Tuesday, Sept. 10 after sailing to 160 destinations

Natalia Senanayake is an Editorial Assistant, Lifestyle at PEOPLE. She covers all things travel and home, from celebrities' luxury mansions to breaking travel news.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Dr Jenny Travels/TikTok

A famous passenger aboard the Ultimate World Cruise is reflecting on her last week on the epic around-the-world sailing.

Dr. Jenny, who goes by drjennytravels on TikTok, has been documenting the ups and down of the entire journey and gained a loyal following in the process. Now, with less than a week left on the epic cruise, she’s opening up about how “bizarre” it is to see the voyage come to an end after nearly nine months at sea.

“Look at this,” she says in a TikTok shared on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Pointing to a sign on a cabin door, she continues, “Seven days left. This is in my hall for the World Cruise and as you can see — look at all the luggage out here.”

She pans around the hallway to reveal multiple suitcases stacked up against the walls before continuing.

“The reason why people have their luggage out is because we get to New York tomorrow. We make it back to the United States tomorrow,” she says in disbelief.

After its stop in New York City, the Serenade of the Seas has just two more destinations to go,  Bermuda and the Bahamas, before it returns to its final destination in Miami — the same location it departed from nearly nine months earlier on Dec. 10 in 2023.

“This is just bizarre. We have watched people put their luggage out here as they’ve come and gone, but now this is us. This is World Cruisers,” she says of the last people on board, adding that it’s a “sad day.”

As Dr. Jenny films more suitcases being loaded onto trolley carts, she explains that some cruisers have opted to use a service that ships their luggage to their home to make the end of the trip as stress-free as possible.

When there was just one month left of the sailing, Dr. Jenny took to social media to start a countdown of the last month and update her followers on how she was feeling.

“Today marks one month to go on the nine-month world cruise and I am feeling mixed emotions about it,” she says in the TikTok shared on Saturday, Aug. 10. “In the long term I’m feeling sad, anxious, and kind of dreading the end of this adventure — but on the other hand, we still have one month of cruising to go.”

When the cruise officially comes to an end and returns to Miami on Sept. 10, it will have spent 274 nights at sea and hit 160 total destinations, including eight world wonders.

The entire voyage consisted of four segments — the Ultimate Americas Cruise, the Ultimate Asia Pacific Cruise, the Ultimate Africa and Southern Europe Cruise, and the Ultimate Europe and Beyond Cruise, per its official website .

How to make the most of your time on short Utopia of the Seas cruises

Kristy Tolley

Royal Caribbean 's mammoth new Utopia of the Seas is loaded with dozens of dining and bar venues and top-deck attractions. Its daily schedule is filled with theme parties, crew-led activities, live music and shows.

The challenge for would-be cruisers is that they won't have a full week to experience them.

The 237,000-ton, 5,668-passenger Utopia of the Seas is the first new Royal Caribbean ship earmarked for short-cruise service from its beginning. Its itineraries span just three and four nights, but Utopia is way bigger and more amenity-packed than any other cruise ship sailing short itineraries in North America.

With such a short time on a big ship, how can you do it all? You can't.

But don't worry. This guide will help you prioritize your time on board. Whether you prefer to chill out or stay active, here's how to make the most of your short cruise on Utopia of the Seas based on your vacation style.

For more cruise guides, news and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Best for families

Daytime activities

The list of family-friendly activities on board Utopia of the Seas is staggering. We recommend that families make the most of sunny days sailing to the Bahamas by prioritizing time on the ship's top deck and its many watery fun zones.

For the adventurers in your group, hit Perfect Storm, home to three exhilarating waterslides — two high-speed racer slides and a giant bowl slide that spins you around and then funnels you into the pool. Splashaway Bay is ideal for the little ones, with smaller waterslides, splash pads and a giant dump bucket. Those age 6 and up can test their surfing skills on the FlowRider (cruisers 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult).

When you need a break from the sun, check out the arcade on Deck 16. It's chock-full of video games, air hockey, basketball and other arcade standards.

Also indoors, the action-packed "Effectors Homecoming Parade" takes place along The Promenade. The Effectors are Royal Caribbean's homegrown superheroes who star in theatrical productions on other ships in the fleet. Leading the street party are heroes Captain Viz, Lume, Pixel and Reverb as they celebrate their defeat of archnemesis Crash and his sidekick Burn.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Families also don't want to miss The Boardwalk. The neighborhood re-creates the carnival vibe of iconic beach boardwalks and is home to family-friendly attractions and eateries.

Take a spin on the carousel, then grab a hot dog at The Dog House. Play arcade games and enjoy classic pub grub at Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, then satisfy your sweet tooth with a range of confections at Sugar Beach (both added fee venues). The Boardwalk is also the spot for special family events like the Steel Pan Family Jam and Family Fun Festival (check your Cruise Compass or Royal Caribbean mobile app for times).

When family members feel like they need to do their own thing, Royal Caribbean's robust Adventure Ocean kids program offers engaging supervised activities and entertainment for kids ages 3 through 11. For teens, there's the Social 100 club and Social 100 The Patio, with game consoles, movies and karaoke.

Dinner options

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Flexible meal times and a variety of dishes for every palate make Windjammer Buffet (included in your fare) a sure bet for families. Added-fare Johnny Rockets is a crowd-pleaser with its mouth-watering burgers and hot dogs, french fries, onion rings, and epic milkshakes and malts. (Lunch or dinner here is $12.99 per person.)

Nighttime activities

After dinner, head to Studio B for Utopia's incredible ice-skating show, "Youtopia," featuring stellar choreography and colorful costumes. It's a fun but relaxing way to cap off the night, and it's engaging for audience members of all ages. Additionally, Spotlight Karaoke hosts family-friendly trivia competitions, family game shows and family karaoke in the evening.

Best for relaxation

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

For some, cruise vacations are all about chilling out, and on that, Utopia of the Seas can certainly deliver.

If relaxing is top of mind for you, make the most of the ship's adults-only Solarium pool area. It's the ideal spot for those seeking a tranquil escape from a Lido Deck party atmosphere. On Deck 14 at the front of the ship, the Solarium spans two decks and is covered by a three-deck glass roof. Guests can soak in one of the cantilevered whirlpools that boast expansive ocean views or read a book in a cozy lounger.

Feeling peckish? Just steps away from your lounger is the Solarium Bistro (complimentary), which offers healthy breakfast and lunch options (fresh fruit, soups and salads) in an airy setting.

Make sure you carve out time for a treatment at the ship's Vitality Spa (added fee). Choose from more than 100 treatments, including a variety of massages (deep tissue, cleansing salt scrubs, seaweed wraps and others). Treat yourself to a facial and a manicure or pedicure (or both). You might also want to consider buying a day pass to the spa's thermal suite, which provides you access to heated ceramic beds, sauna and steam rooms, and refreshing rainforest showers.

Greet or end each day on a calming note with a 30-minute early morning or evening stretch yoga class (added fee).

Or try the cruise ship version of forest bathing and spend a portion of each day relaxing in nature with a stroll in Central Park. The Deck 8 neighborhood is lush with thousands of live plants and several trees cared for by the ship's resident gardener.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

The spacious, beachy-style environment of Hooked Seafood offers the ultimate setting for a relaxing meal. Plus, it offers peaceful views overlooking the Solarium. Tuck into New England-style seafood, such as crabcakes, oysters, Maine lobster rolls, shrimp and daily fresh-catch dishes. (Dinner is $65 per person.)

If you prefer a more intimate dining experience, book a table at 150 Central Park. The atmosphere is elegant and moody, with dim lighting and a subdued color palette. Dishes include roasted pumpkin bisque, lobster thermidor, lamb Wellington and seared honey-glazed scallops. (Dinner is $64.99 per person.)

Too relaxed to venture out? Order room service and savor a meal on your cabin balcony overlooking the ocean beyond. It's available 24/7 and incurs a $7.95 fee per person. An additional 18% gratuity will automatically be added to your check.

If your aim is to relax, you'll likely not gravitate to dance club parties with tons of people and thumping music. Luckily, Utopia of the Seas offers venues for those who prefer a quieter night. Check out live jazz in Central Park, or enjoy the low-key vibes of Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar as you sip a glass (or two) of vino. Not quite ready to call it a day, but need some downtime? Head to your cabin, slip into your jammies and watch a movie.

Best for active cruisers

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Utopia of the Seas is replete with options for those who prefer "doing" to "lounging," and there are certainly a few attractions you should bump to the top of your onboard to-do list.

Tackle the Ultimate Abyss, the ship's 259-foot-long slide — the longest dry slide at sea. It's 43 feet longer than its predecessor on Wonder of the Seas. On the way down, a flurry of LED lights and see-through windows amp up your experience as you descend. It's a quick ride, so you can hit this one more than once.

Few cruises provide the opportunity to scale a rock-climbing wall for epic views from 40 feet above deck, so this one's a must. Make your way to Deck 7 to test your strength on the rock climbing wall, a Royal Caribbean signature attraction. There's no cost to climb, and reservations are not required.

Other included-in-the-fare activities for adventure seekers include the zip line, where you can soar nine decks above The Boardwalk. You can also compete in the ship's Pickleball Challenge in the Sports Zone (Deck 15). Sign up at the sports desk by the Wipeout Bar on Deck 16.

Refuel with fresh-made tacos and quesadillas with all the fixings at El Loco Fresh, near the Sports Zone. Reward your rock wall and zip line bravery with a celebratory margarita from its neighboring venue, Cantina Fresca.

Specialty dining at Izumi Hibachi & Sushi (in Central Park) is a solid choice for cruisers who crave a little action with dinner. Book the Hibachi side for a front-row seat to your dinner and all the hibachi shenanigans you desire ($64.99 per person).

If you enjoy watching the action as much as doing it, Royal Caribbean's signature AquaTheater show should be at the top of your list of evening diversions during your short Utopia of the Seas cruise. The jaw-dropping acrobatics, high-diving stunts and synchronized swimming routines will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Parties are a priority on Utopia of the Seas, and they should be a priority for you, too. The line even created a designated "party squad" to organize and host them so you can be confident the activity level will match your energy. You'll find everything from pool deck soirees and late-night celebrations along the Royal Promenade to themed parties like college-style Royal Kappa Chi (think beer pong and DJ mashups) and Silent Toga! — a silent-disco-meets-toga-party event.

Best for entertainment lovers

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

If gambling, shows and dancing are your vibe, Utopia of the Seas offers several ways to stay entertained during your short time on board. Casino Royale (Deck 4) is home to 456 slot machines, 27 gaming tables and a poker room (for serious gamblers). Lessons are available if you need a little guidance. Well-seasoned players can sign up for a variety of tournaments, including slots and blackjack. A smaller, nonsmoking casino is also on Deck 4. It features 40 slot machines, a blackjack table and a poker table.

Boleros, the Latin-style bar on Deck 5, hosts various dance lessons throughout the day. Learn to Zumba, salsa or line dance — skills that will come in handy later that evening.

Or, get your groove on during the Plunge Day Pool Party on decks 15 and 16. Grab a drink at the Lime and Coconut and soak up lively music poolside — from DJ-led hits to live Caribbean music.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Royal Railway — Utopia Station was created for entertainment lovers, so you'll want to book this dinner posthaste. This immersive dining experience takes you on a time-traveling train trip during the course of your meal. After enjoying predinner cocktails on the station platform, you'll "board" the train for dinner and a Wild West-themed show. The cost is $74.99 per adult and $24.99 per child.

If you'd prefer to stick with included-in-the-fare dining, an early meal in the main dining room can provide you enough wiggle room in your schedule to add in a few more evening activities.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

Entertainment lovers take note: Royal Caribbean ships are known for some of the best entertainment at sea. In the main theater, the All In! Production is a must-see. The fantastic production utilizes technology through drones, lasers and digital displays to bring to life some of history's biggest musical venues like Studio 54 and Burning Man.

Take in a comedy show at The Attic, which has a vibe reminiscent of New York City comedy clubs. Evening sets (9:30 p.m.) are for the 18-plus crowd.

adventure of the seas caribbean cruise

After the show, grab a rocking chair at the Mason Jar and listen to live country music or pop into the Pesky Parrot for a Caribbean-inspired cocktail and a chat with Brian, the resident parrot. If you're ready to move from watching the entertainment to being the entertainment, Spotlight Karaoke is for you. Belt out your best Celine Dion during the venue's adult karaoke (18-plus). Or, take your newly acquired dance skills to the Music Hall or Boleros for late-night boogying.

Bottom line

Short three- and four-night sailings are a terribly brief amount of time to experience a giant ship like Utopia of the Seas. Instead of trying to do it all, focus on what interests you most. Whether you want to chill out, stay active, be entertained or spend time as a family, you can do it on Utopia of the Seas. And if you disembark with a nagging feeling of FOMO, you can always book another long-weekend sailing to try all the things you missed.

Icon of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, arrives at PortMiami

At nearly 1,200 feet long and weighing 250,800 gross tons, the 20-deck ship is the first in a new class of vessels for royal caribbean that has been making its way to miami from europe since december, by monica galarza • published january 10, 2024 • updated on january 11, 2024 at 2:56 pm.

It's official. The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas , pulled into its new home port in Miami on Wednesday morning.

At nearly 1,200 feet long and weighing 250,800 gross tons, the 20-deck ship is the first in Royal Caribbean’s new Icon Class and has been making its way to Miami from Europe since December.

The Icon will be joined by two more ships in the coming years – one in 2025, Star of the Seas, and another in 2026.

On Wednesday, the cruise line is marking the occasion with a party at the Perez Art Museum to give their employees on the shore a chance to see the brand-new ship up close.

The Hurricane season is on. Our meteorologists are ready. Sign up for the NBC 6 Weather newsletter to get the latest forecast in your inbox.

The ship, which took 900 days to build, is set to set sail from PortMiami on Jan. 27 and will be offering year-round alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

And last December, soccer superstar Lionel Messi was named the official icon of Icon of the Seas when he welcomed the ship in an exclusive naming celebration in Miami.

Florida looks at possibility of adding nuclear power technology

Not only will the ship have eight different neighborhoods for  travelers to explore , but the 7,600 passengers allowed onboard will also have seven pools, six record-breaking waterslides and about 40 bar and dining options to choose from.

“We are celebrating more than a new ship; it’s also the celebration of the culmination of more than 50 years of innovation and dreaming at Royal Caribbean to create the ultimate vacation experience,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group.

For the adventure-seekers, Thrill Island will feature Category 6, the world’s largest waterpark at sea.

This neighborhood will also have a ropes course and thrill ride, a FlowRider wave simulator and a mini golf course.

The ship's Chill Island has four of the seven pools and an adults-only area.

The company added that the Icon of the Seas   is also the cruise line’s first ship that can be powered by liquefied natural gas, a transitional fuel.

The dual-fuel engines will work alongside a lineup of energy efficiency initiatives and industry-leading environmental programs on board, like the first waste-to-energy plant at sea.
