Sites like Expedia , Hotels.com , CruiseCritic , and more are running promos when you schedule a trip with them today, so if you're already planning an escape from the winter doldrums, we've rounded up a guide to popular sites you can book and save with.  Pro tip: If you're planning a flight, it's worth noting that you should avoid leaving on a Saturday, as this tends to be the most expensive day to fly. Leaving on a Wednesday and returning on a Thursday is likely the least busy and least costly window for air travel. Expedia When you create an Expedia OneKey membership by signing up with your email, you can save 30% or more on select hotels when you book by November 29 and travel by the end of 2024.

Hotels.com Hotels.com is a part of the Expedia group's network, so there's lots of overlap between the sites' offerings. With a OneKey membership, Hotels.com is offering 30% off or more with Member Prices on select hotels when you book by November 29, 2023, and travel by December 31, 2024.

CruiseCritic Now until November 26, get up to 30% off on cruise lines including Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Atlas Ocean Voyages, and more. 

Fox Rent A Car Now until midnight Sunday, November 25, you can reserve a 2024 car, SUV, or minivan for pick up at all USA Corporate locations between January 1 to April 30, 2024, for up to 51% off. 

AirBnB Though the site isn't running any special Black Friday promotions, an AirBnB gift card never expires and makes for a great gift for any wanderlust-driven loved ones on your holiday shopping list. 

Caesars If you're booking a trip to "Sin City," Caesars compiles the top hotels in Las Vegas in one place, as well as discounts on shows and attractions. Their promotions page lists codes you can enter to save on rooms when you book before midnight, November 29.

Skyscanner Skyscanner's Black Friday edit includes highly discounted rates on hotel rooms across the globe. 

Kayak Kayak highlights one of the best deals on their radar from the Fontainebleu Luxury Resort , where if you book at least a 2-night stay before November 29, you can save up to 50%. 

Collective Retreats From now until 5 pm on November 28, you can score deals on overnight stays in the luxury Collective Governors Island, Collective Vail, and Collective Hill Country locations. For every stay, Collective Retreats plants one tree in their dedicated effort to combat deforestation. 

AirCanada AirCanada's Seat Sale includes deals on flights to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and others when you book by November 26, 2023 and travel between November 27, 2023 and June 30, 2024.

Exodus Travels Until November 30, 2023, you can use the code BF2024 to book a guided adventure with a focus on hiking, biking, wildlife, and cultural immersion expeditions for 20% off. 

IHG The best deals from IHG are found on their app, available via the App Store or Google Play . You automatically get 500 points when you create an account, and from now until November 28, 2023, you can save 20% at participating hotels when you stay by April 30, 2024. 

Aer Lingus A round-trip flight to Ireland has never been more in reach than during Aer Lingus' Black Friday Sale. Book by November 29 and travel before March 31, 2024, for up to $100 off economy class or up to $200 business class.

Qatar Airways Book a flight online or via the Qatar Airways mobile app (available on the App Store or Google Play ) by midnight November 24, 2023, to get up to $350 off in Business Class and up to $150 off in Economy Class. This deal applies when you travel between December 30, 2023, and October 31, 2024, and only on return flights until January 21, 2024.

Best Black Friday flight deals

Aer Lingus has already had a splurge of good deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and it's offering more good stuff for Travel Tuesday. Right now, you can get up to $100 off economy or $200 off round-trip, business-class fares to Ireland.

You must book by Nov. 29, 2023, for travel through to Mar 31, 2024.

Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand has some of its lowest prices of the year through Nov. 28, including:

• Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Auckland Airport (AKL) starting from $1,033
• John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to AKL, starting from $1,433
• Houston's William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) to AKL, starting from $1,133
• Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) to AKL, starting from $933

American Airlines

American Airlines is offering lots of deals via a webpage it set up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. You can book right now with prices starting at less than $100 for domestic flights. For example, flights from New York City to Miami are going for as little as $79 one-way.

Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has discounts on many routes, with one-way fares as low as $39 or 4,000 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles. Routes with these reduced rates include Burbank, California, to San Francisco, as well as Las Vegas to LA.

You can also fly for $129 each way or 10,000 miles one-way from New York to Seattle or Portland, Oregon.

Flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to San Diego International Airport (SAN) are just $119 or 10,000 miles.

The sale ends on Nov. 29 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Allegiant Air

Allegiant has numerous deals to choose from. We found several flights — such as one from Allentown, Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) — for as low as $93 round trip.

Avelo Airlines

Avelo Airlines is offering $50 off base fares for Cyber Monday. Use promo code CYBER for flights between Jan. 4 and Feb. 9, 2024. If you're planning to fly between Dec. 1 and Dec. 14, 2023, use the promo code DEC50.

Breeze Airways

Breeze Airways is having a sale featuring up to 60% off base fares on certain travel dates. The sale applies to flights from all of Breeze's 45 cities and across approximately 150 routes for travel from Dec. 1, 2023, through Sept. 1, 2024.

Passengers should use the promo code CYBER on the Breeze app or at flybreeze.com through 11:59 p.m. ET on Nov. 28.

Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines just launched a Cyber Monday deals page where you can score round-trip domestic flights for less than $300 or 15,000 Delta SkyMiles. For international options, you can book a round-trip flight to Europe for less than $800 or a round-trip flight to Asia for less than $1,800.

Delta Vacations is also offering savings of up to $300 all November long. Delta SkyMiles members can save big when they book a flight and hotel together for locations like Hawaii, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Use the promo code SMBF300 and book by Nov. 30, 2023, for travel through Jan. 31, 2024.

Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines has a new 2024-2025 Frontier all-you-can-fly pass for a special rate of $499 per year. (It will automatically renew for $599 per year). It is valid for travel between May 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025. As a part of the Black Friday special, it will include Silver elite status beginning early in 2024 when purchased by Nov. 28, 2023.

Hawaiian Airlines

While Hawaiian isn't running a specific sale for Cyber Monday, it is offering some pretty sweet deals on Hawaii flights.

Most of its flights from California to various Hawaiian Islands are on sale from $94 to $109 for one-way basic economy tickets. Flights from Seattle or Portland, Oregon, are as low as $149, and flights to and from Austin are as low as $145.

JetBlue Vacations is offering up to $750 off flight and hotel packages with only a $99 deposit required at booking. The sale runs through Nov. 29.

The savings for this deal depend on how much you spend, with discounts beginning at $50 off a vacation of $1,000 or more. For the $750 in savings, you'll need to buy a vacation that costs $8,000 or more.

Play Airlines

Play Airlines has some incredible deals that started on Black Friday. The low-cost Icelandic carrier is offering 35% off flights to Iceland, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Copenhagen, Dublin and Amsterdam through Nov. 28. For this deal, you'll need to travel from December 2023 through May 2024.

Available deals include round-trip itineraries from New York Stewart International Airport (SWF) to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) for as low as $262. Note that the itinerary requires a stop at Reykjavik, Iceland's Keflavik Airport (KEF), but at that price, you won't find us complaining.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest is offering 30% off for Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday through Nov. 30. Use the code CYBER30 when booking for select domestic destinations between Jan. 9 and March 6, 2024.

Spirit Airlines

Spirit Vacations is offering deals of up to 50% off some vacation packages through Nov. 28. You'll get 2,000 Free Spirit bonus points as well if you book a vacation package during the promotional period.

Qatar Airways

Through Friday, Qatar Airways is offering up to $350 off premium classes and up to $150 off economy to select destinations from the U.S., Canada and Brazil. Destinations include Doha, the Maldives, Seychelles, Delhi and Johannesburg.

Complementing this offer, Privilege Club members who are residents in participating countries (including new members during the offer period who make qualifying purchases and book flights) will earn 5,000 bonus Avios.

The final day of the offer is Nov. 28, so act fast and book before the end of the day.

Blackout dates apply on outbound flights between May 15 and July 30, 2024, and on inbound flights between June 20 and Sept. 15, 2024.

TAP Air Portugal

You can book discounted airfare with TAP Air Portugal for travel from Nov. 16, 2023, through Dec. 14, 2023; Jan. 11 through March 20, 2024; and April 9 to May 31, 2024. These reduced fares start at $400 round trip from the U.S. to Europe and from $450 round trip from the U.S. to Africa.

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays have some excellent deals on offer for Cyber Monday across both award and cash fares, including:

• 33% off all Virgin Atlantic reward seats across the carrier's entire network
• Up to 2,000 British pounds ($2,506) off Upper Class flights on select fares between the United Kingdom and the U.S.
• Up to 90 British pounds ($113) off Premium on select fares
• Up to 90 British pounds ($113) off Economy Light, Classic and Delight on select fares
• Save 150 British pounds ($188) when you spend 3,500 British pounds ($4,386) on Virgin Holidays and flight plus hotel bookings

Best Black Friday hotel deals

Booking.com

Booking.com is offering stays starting at 30% off and select experiences for up to 25% off.

Book through Nov. 29, 2023, for hotel stays through Dec. 31, 2024, and for attractions within three months of the booking date.

Register for an Expedia free One Key loyalty account, then log in between now and Nov. 29 for savings of 30% or more on thousands of hotels during this members-only sale.

Hilton is offering 17% off for advance purchases, but nothing is currently designated as part of Black Friday sales. However, note that deals are usually best for Hilton Honors members. If you're not a member of Hilton Honors, you should sign up ASAP . Don't fret: Nonmembers can still join in on the savings.

We've also noticed that many individual properties in the Hilton portfolio have separate deals. Some highlights we've seen:

• The Harbor Club St. Lucia is offering 40% off.
• Hilton Orlando is offering 15% off the best available rate and 50% off the resort charge. Book through Dec. 1, 2023, for travel from December 2023 to December 2024. Use code P4.
• Save up to 20% during Christmas and winter at Hilton All-Inclusive hotels when you book the Stay Longer in Paradise package. Book through Dec. 8, for travel starting Dec. 11. Offer available at select properties: Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort , Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort , Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort .
• Hilton Los Cabos is offering up to 35% off plus a USD 100 resort credit. With starting rates of $319 a night, book through Dec. 15, 2023, for stays between Jan. 1, 2023-Sep. 30, 2024.
• Located inside Punta de Mita's exclusive gated community, guests at Conrad Punta de Mita can enjoy up to 40% off of your stay with rates starting at $399 per night. Book through Dec. 15, 2023, for travel from Jan. 1-Sept. 30, 2024.
• Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Curio Collection by Hilton is offering 40% off the best available rate. Bookable through Dec. 5, 2023, for stays from Nov. 20, 2023-Dec. 31, 2024.

Hyatt's "Lock In Savings" promotion gets travelers up to 20% off stays now through April 30, 2024, if booked by Dec. 5, 2023.

There are more than 950 hotels to choose from — including popular brands like Thompson, Andaz and Alila.

For World of Hyatt members, the savings are even better. When searching the Hyatt website for a hotel room, be sure you're logged in to your account and select the "Members Save More" rate to maximize your savings and earn points on your trip.

Some deals we're especially excited about include:

• Park Hyatt St. Kitts : Book between Wednesday and Nov. 29, 2023, and get 15% off all-inclusive rates on stays from Jan. 6 to April 3, 2024.
• Andaz Mexico City Condesa : The hotel is offering 25% off on all stays booked until Nov. 29, 2023, for travel through Aug. 31, 2024.

Buckle up because IHG has a number of deals currently running, either as an extension of their Black Friday sales or as Travel Tuesday deals (which will come to an end today).

First up, if you book via their app after signing into your IHG One Reward account, you can save up to 20% at participating hotels through Nov. 28, for stays up to March 31, 2024. Additionally, you can save up to 40% at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts through Nov. 28, for stays up to Oct. 31, 2024.

And that's not everything: If you're not currently an IHG One Reward member and you download the app and create an account you can get 500 points free before Dec. 31, 2023.

For any bookings made with a split of both points and cash, you could save 15% on stays between Jan. 1 and Feb. 29, 2024.

Best cruise deals

Celebrity Cruises

Through Dec. 5, 2023, Celebrity Cruises is giving you 75% off a second cruise fare when you buy one at regular price for any voyage departing through April 30, 2026. Plus, through Wednesday, you'll also receive as much as $600 in additional discounts ($150 per person for up to four people sharing a cabin).

Holland America

Now through Dec. 1, 2023, you'll save up to 30% on Holland America cruise fares for select voyages setting sail through 2025. The line is also rolling crew gratuities in with the price — a savings of more than $100 per person. You can also upgrade to the line's "Have It All" premium package alongside the promotion, which includes Wi-Fi, beverage packages, specialty dining and shore excursions for a discounted rate.

MSC Cruises

This Black Friday, MSC Cruises passengers will have Wi-Fi and drinks included in the price they pay when they book a sailing by Nov. 24. Plus, they'll receive up to $500 in onboard credit, based on cabin type. Kids sail free as the third and fourth passengers in a cabin when sharing it with two paying adults. Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises is offering savings of up to 50% on cruise fares, 50% off deposits, and free third- and fourth-passenger fares when sharing a cabin with two full-fare passengers. This offer is available through Nov. 30, and it's good on select sailings departing in 2024 and 2025. It can also be combined with the line's Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages, which roll extras — like Wi-Fi, gratuities and beverage packages — into the cruise fares.

Royal Caribbean

As part of its Early Access Black Friday Sale , family-friendly cruise line Royal Caribbean is discounting sailings by up to $700 and tossing in an additional 30% off for good measure when you book by Dec. 4. Kids 12 and younger sail free when they're the third and fourth passengers in a cabin shared with two paying adults.

When you book select Seabourn sailings through summer 2024 as part of the line's " Black Friday Sail ," you'll get money off fares across the entire fleet, including expedition vessels Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit. Choose from the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Arctic, the Caribbean and other itineraries by Nov. 27, and you can look forward to a 50% reduced deposit, up to $2,000 per cabin in onboard credit (depending on room type) and a two-category Veranda Suite upgrade (subject to availability).

Northbound travel dates include November 27, 2023, to March 21, 2024. Southbound travel dates include January 15 to June 30, 2024.

Hertz : Through November 28, 2023, take up to 30 percent off car rentals when you pay now. Airport rentals pickup dates include November 24, 2023, to January 31, 2024, and off airport rentals pickup dates include November 24, 2023, to January 10, 2024. All vehicles are included in this sale.

Extended Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2023 cruise deals

Crystal : Now through December 10, 2023, Crystal—which was recently relaunched by Abercrombie & Kent—is offering a $500 ($250 per person) As You Wish Shipboard Credit for new guests, applicable to select 2023 and 2024 departures when booked online by December 10, 2023.

Black Friday Travel Sales Are Here and Deals Abound

Bargain shoppers will find discounts on hotels, resorts, far-flung tours and cruises. The key is to act quickly before they disappear.

As inflation continues to sting, more travelers are expected to hunt for bargains this year, and the industry is responding by offering deals across the travel landscape, from hotels to cruises and tours.

“Despite inflation and higher prices, we continue to see a strong preference for experiences with travel,” said Brett Keller, the chief executive of the online travel agency Priceline , which will hold one of its biggest sales this month, including 30 percent off select hotel stays and up to 50 percent off rental cars.

Given strong demand, travel companies can usually hold fast on prices, but by offering seasonal sales, they can hedge against changes in the future.

“There is a benefit to hoteliers in securing bookings with more lead time so they can more accurately understand demand,” said Christine Guadenzi, the director of sales and marketing for the Family Coppola Hideaways , a collection of small hotels that includes the coastal Turtle Inn in Belize, which will offer 20 percent off room rates booked Nov. 24 to Dec. 15 (discounted rates start at $335 a night, compared to the usual $419 price tag).

Some of those deals may end up under Christmas trees as vacations are increasingly positioned as gifts.

“It’s still a treat-yourself vibe, but that may change this year as we’ve seen this bigger push for experiences rather than material gifts,” said Julie Ramhold, a consumer analyst with DealNews.com , a website that tracks sales. She expects more promotions highlighting friends’ getaways and family trips.

There may be more deals, but the usual caveats apply: The best bargains tend to be for off-season travel and midweek rates (unless it’s a popular business travel destination, like the Ameswell Hotel in California’s Silicon Valley where most blackout dates in its sale are Mondays through Wednesdays). If a deal is “up to 40 percent off,” that 40 percent is likely applied to low season dates and may drop to 10 percent in busier times.

Many travel businesses use Black Friday sales to fill their books in slow periods, even bargain options. For example, the Dagny Boston is offering 25 percent off rooms, which normally start at $119 a night, until Nov. 29 for winter stays through February.

Always read the terms carefully. Many deals are nonrefundable and prepaid, including suites at the 18th-century, village-turned-hotel Borgo San Vincenzo in Montepulciano, Italy, where a sale from Nov. 23 to 27 offers 20 percent off regular rates, including breakfast for two, complimentary e-bike loans and a 100-euro, or about $107, credit for food and drink (suites normally start at 300 euros).

Sometimes incentives come in calendar-related tiers. Through Nov. 30, the tour company G Adventures will offer up to 30 percent off trips departing before April 20, and 10 to 15 percent off for departures in May and June.

Be proactive. With the growth of travel sales, it’s worth checking a hotel, tour company, airline or cruise line you’re interested in from Nov. 24 to 28 to see what they’re offering.

The following sales represent the broad range of offers available this holiday shopping season.

Flash sales and bargains

In a new twist on blink-and-they’re-gone deals, Topnotch Resort in Stowe, Vt., and High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, N.Y., are each offering one room a night through Aug. 31 at $100. Book them while they last on Nov. 27.

Between Nov. 24 and 28, the Vintages Trailer Resort in Oregon’s winegrowing Willamette Valley will offer 40 percent off stays in its retro trailers for travel through March. Discounted nightly rates start at $59 (use code CYBER23).

Ski destinations rarely go on sale, but through Dec. 17, about a dozen hotels in Aspen, Colo., will offer rooms from $150 a night, and the Aspen Snowmass ski resort will sell $88 lift tickets — normally $189 — for trips from Thanksgiving to Dec. 22.

Among airline sales, Scandinavian Airlines will price round-trip flights between the United States and Scandinavia from $375 between Nov. 21 and 28 for travel Jan. 15 through April.

Portfolio sales

Plan for any upcoming event — such as a wedding, business meeting or concert — by shopping companies that put their entire hotel portfolios on sale. The stylish Viceroy Hotels & Resorts is holding a sale through Dec. 3 with rooms up to 35 percent off. Before discounts, nightly rates tend to run between $275 at the Viceroy Chicago and $850 at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort .

CitizenM operates 33 hotels in cities in the United States, Europe and Asia. Through Nov. 27, rooms will be discounted up to 30 percent for stays through March. Shoppers who sign up for the company’s loyalty program with a six-month free trial can take advantage of free perks such as late check out. Rates normally start between about $200 and $230 at citizenM hotels in Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

AutoCamp , which offers glamping-style accommodations, with lodgings in Airstream trailers in resort areas such as Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, and near national parks like Yosemite and Zion, is offering up to 40 percent off Nov. 24 to 27 for stays of two nights or more through 2024 (pre-sale rates start at $138).

Bucket-list trips

Exotic and dream destinations will be on sale in the coming weeks, too. EF Go Ahead Tours is discounting a “bucket list” roster of destinations through Nov. 22 at up to $600 off per person, including a 12-day trip to Bali and Java, Indonesia , which starts at $3,039 before the sale. On Black Friday, the tour company will offer more sales, including trips to Greece, and take an extra $100 off all tours.

On the Spanish island of Mallorca, the new Zafiro Palace Andratx is offering up to 40 percent off rates (starting at $112 a night, post-discount) for stays during the 2024 season (May through September) when booked between Nov. 20 and 28 (three-night minimum stay required).

A pair of Marriott luxury hotels near Machu Picchu in Peru will be on sale Nov. 24 to Dec. 1 for three-night stays through March at more than 40 percent off. Housed in a 500-year-old mansion in Cusco, Palacio del Inka will offer rooms starting at $236 a night after the discount, including breakfast for two. In the nearby Sacred Valley, Tambo del Inka stays will start at $355 a night with the promotion , including breakfast for two.

Learn to surf for less in Costa Rica at Surf Synergy , which has a 25-percent-off sale until Dec. 15 on its seven-day surf camps, which normally start at $2,765 a person, including lodging, meals, airport transfers, surf lessons, massages and other activities.

It’s a good time to shop for cruises. Celebrity Cruises is putting most of its itineraries through April 30 on sale through Dec. 5, with 75 percent off a second guest sharing a cabin, and up to $300 in shipboard credits. An 11-night sailing in New Zealand in March starts at $683 before the sale.

It’s also one of the few times to find sales on lodgings in and around popular national parks. Explorer Cabins just outside of Yellowstone National Park will take 30 percent off rates between Black Friday and Cyber Monday (from $229 nightly before the sale).

Splurges on sale

Even some luxury companies whittle their rates during the holiday kick off. From Nov. 23 to 27, SB Winemaker’s House & Spa , a boutique property in Mendoza, Argentina, that is operated by the winemaker Susana Balbo, will take 30 percent off its $4,235 price for a five-night package in January, including a massage, wine-paired dinner, ceramics workshop and other activities.

Consider salmon fishing in Alaska at Salmon Falls Resort near Ketchikan, which is offering 30-percent-off packages booked through Dec. 1 for stays from May 1 to Sept. 30. Discounted rates start at $945 a person and include meals, airport transfers and daily activities such as guided fishing and kayaking.

Miraval Resorts & Spa , in Arizona, Massachusetts and Texas, is coming out with a $300 nightly resort credit to bookings made Nov. 27 to Dec. 5 for stays through 2024. Rates at the Miraval Berkshires start at $679 and include lodgings, meals and activities.

Graze your way through southern Italy in May on a 12-day culinary tour of Naples, Calabria and Basilicata with My Bella Vita Travel . During its sale from Nov. 23 to 27, the Taste of the South tour saves nearly $1,000 on the trip that normally costs $6,650 a person. Other tours will also be reduced 15 percent at that time.

Travelers can save $50 off packages costing $1,000 or more by using the promo code “UNWRAP50,” save $200 off packages costing $3,000 or more by using the promo code “UNWRAP200,” save $400 off packages costing $5,000 or more by using the promo code “UNWRAP400,” and save $750 off packages costing $8,000 or more by using the promo code “UNWRAP750.” The minimum spend amounts are inclusive of all taxes and fees.

For the $99 deposits, full payment of the remaining balance will be due at least 30 days before a scheduled departure.

Travelers who book a trip with JetBlue Vacations receive perks like a free inflight drink and earlier boarding times as well as access in certain destinations to a network of "insiders" who can help with everything from activity recommendations to restaurant reservations. What specifications do I need to look for in a laptop?

The right specs depend on your needs and how you intend to use your new laptop -- whether for gaming, studies, video calling, or simply daily internet surfing. We break it down for you below:

• Processing power/CPU:  The processor is the computer's brain and handles the basic programming tasks. Gamers will want a higher processor that can even boost to a higher GHz threshold for AAA games like Death Stranding and Halo Infinite. Higher processor outputs will also apply to content creators who need a laptop to handle editing video software, but if you're using your laptop for general work or just surfing the internet, you can opt for a lower processor. 
• Graphics card/GPU:  Again, gamers and content creators will want a higher graphics card to reflect the beautiful imagery for their gaming. I personally recommend that gamers opt for at least an RTX 3060 at the moment. However, again, internet surfers and workers shouldn't worry too much about the graphics if you're focusing on building out Word documents.
• Storage : For those that focus on lighter laptop use, 256GB of SSD storage will be plenty of space for your laptop. However, if you need more storage for high-resolution photos, videos, or more, you'll want to opt for 512GB of storage or even 1TB.
• RAM : In conjunction with the CPU, RAM is used to help the computer multi-task and is vital to running programs. ZDNET expert Adrian Kingsley-Hughes breaks down RAM needs here , but at minimum, especially for working, you should opt for around 8GB, and gamers will potentially want more.

Do I need a gaming laptop or a "regular" laptop?

Again, it depends on your needs. Those who aren't  gamers can opt for a regular laptop with high specs, but content creators or those who work with heavy editing software should opt for a designer's laptop or a gaming laptop. Not because, of course, you want to have the best gaming specs on the side, but because those laptops come with powerful CPUs, GPUs, and high RAM to handle the heavy requirements that software needs.

How much should I pay for a good laptop?

When you're considering your budget for a new laptop, you have to consider what you want to use the device for. 

If you're a gamer who needs a high-spec laptop with a decent graphics card, top-of-the-range display and high refresh rate, you should expect to pay more than $500 - $600 -- and potentially beyond $1,000. However, if you need a laptop for basic tasks, studying, and streaming, you can easily get away with a basic laptop for a few hundred dollars.

Mytishchi is a mid-sized industrial city in North Moscow Oblast , which borders Moscow to the southwest. It is perhaps Moscow Oblast 's principal industrial center, particularly for machinery and armaments.

A convenient elektrichka route (in fact, the first elektrichka route in Russia) runs frequently all day between Mytishchi and Moscow's Yaroslavsky Train Station. Rapid trains (Sputniks) bound to Pushkino and Bolshevo also stop here.

You can also get here pretty easily by taking the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line to the end at Medvedkovo and there catch a bus or marshrutka to the Mytishchi center from the metro station.

From botanical gardens to plant sales and garden tours, it’s time to make like the Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz” and while away the hours, conferring with flowers.

TOTALLY BOTANICAL

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is open for the season, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maine Days are May 31 to June 2, when anyone with a Maine driver’s license or state ID gets in for free. Ditto for dads/father figures on Father’s Day (June 16). Advance registration is required. With more than 300 acres of gardens and natural spaces, including a waterfall, there will be plenty to see, smell and bask in the scenery.

Viles Arboretum is a botanical garden in Augusta with 6 miles of trails and more than 20 botanical collections. It’s open daily from sunrise to sunset, and admission is free. There are 224 acres with all sorts of flora and fauna to discover. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the visitor center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Viles Arboretum offers medicinal plant walks, and although the May 18 session is full, you can still register for the June 15 and Sept. 14 events, lead by herbalist, homeopath and flower essence practitioner Debra Bluth. Tickets are $25. Advertisement

The Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve has four areas to explore on its property in Northeast Harbor: the Asticou Azelea Garden (dawn to dusk daily), the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden (noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday from July 9 to Sept. 8, reservations required), Thuya Garden (dawn to dusk daily, June 15 to Oct. 14) and Little Long Pond Natural Lands (hiking trails and carriage roads open dawn to dusk daily). On June 26, at the Wildflowers of Little Long Pond event, participants can wander around the garden’s fields and forest, spotting wildflowers along the way while practicing how to identify them.

2nd Annual Tree Hugging 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Deering Oaks Park, Portland. portlandmaine.gov The tree hugging is a family-friendly community gathering to celebrate Portland’s many trees. Park ranger Liz Collado will lead a sensory awakening and forest bathing session. Along with tree hugging, there will be a storytime, and you can touch a forestry truck and meet naturalist Noah Querido and Portland city arborist Mark Reiland. Just down the road, you’ll find Fessenden Park, on the corner of Brighton and Deering Avenues. The tulips have arrived, and it’s worth a visit to see them.

McLaughlin Garden Lilac Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 24. McLaughlin Garden and Homestead, 97 Main St., South Paris, $5. mclaughlingardens.org You’ll find more than 125 varieties of lilacs at the McLaughlin Garden Lilac Festival. Explore on your own or take a guided tour led by a horticulturist. There will also be family-friendly activities, and you can shop for native and unusual plants.

4th annual Woodfords Community Garden Tour 1-4 p.m. June 8. Woodfords Corner Community in Back Cove, Deering Highlands, Oakdale and Deering Center, $20 suggested donation. woodfordscorner.org Presented by Friends of Woodfords Corner, this self-guided tour features at least 10 gardens. As you make your way down the list, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised by all of the hidden havens bursting with flowers, plants and impressive yardscaping elements.

Peony Society of Maine 23rd annual Garden Tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 and 15. Both tours start at 1348 Ohio St., Bangor, $5 donation. peonysocietyofmaine.net You’ll visit multiple gardens in Bangor, Winterport, Ripley and St. Albans, and your senses will be filled with countless peonies. A peony plant will be raffled off at the end of each tour. Advertisement

Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22. Sagadahoc Preservation Inc., 880 Washington St., Bath, $40. sagadahocpreservation.org The Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath house and garden tour features several homes in North Bath. Every stop on the tour will be a treat for your senses and may motivate you to make some of your own magic when you get back home.

Garden Conservancy Open Garden Days 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29. Beckett Castle Rose Garden, Singles Road, Cape Elizabeth, $10. gardenconservancy.org You’ll see plenty of roses as well as ocean views at Beckett Castle, which sits right on the water, with views of five lighthouses. The castle was built in 1871, and its rose garden features more than 70 varieties of heirloom roses. A 50-foot stone tower doubles as the rose arbor entrance to the castle.

Tate House Museum’s Annual Plant and Herb Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18. Tate House Museum, 1267 Westbrook St., Portland, 207-774-6177.  tatehouse.org The wide selection includes perennials divided from the museum’s 18th century reproduction garden. Visitors can also make their own “seed bombs” and get a sneak peak at a new installation by artist Ashley Page from 10 a.m. to noon.

Taking Root Plant Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Tom Settlemire Community Garden, Maurice Drive, Brunswick, 207-729-7694.  btlt.org This annual sale is organized by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. Proceeds benefit the Common Good Garden, which provides food and gardening education for the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. Master gardeners will be on hand to help shoppers choose their best options.

Scarborough Land Trust Native Plant Sale and Spring Festival 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Broadturn Farm, 388 Broadturn Road, Scarborough, 207-289-1199.  scarboroughlandtrust.org Visitors will find native plants, food vendors, local artisans, guided nature walks and activities for kids.
