I. Visa services

Saudi, Bahraini, Omani and Yemeni nationals, as well as third country nationals legally residing in these countries and in case of their country of origin has no visa waiver agreement with Hungary are required to apply for a Visa to Hungary.

We kindly inform all visitors that on the basis of bilateral agreements, the Hungarian Consular Section in Riyadh issues short term €œC€-type Schengen visa in representation for citizens residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also to Lithuania and Slovakia.

1.) €œC€-type, short term (less than 90 days) Schengen visa applications

We inform all applicants that from 7th of March, 2022Hungary officially re-openedthe regular Schengen visa issuance with regards to Saudi Arabia (pursuant to Government Decree 77/2022.), and with regards to Slovakia on the 20th of March and Lithuania on the April 05th 2022.

Travelling to Lithuania

The state of national emergency due to the threat of the spread of COVID-19 is declared in the Republic of Lithuania. During the national emergency special rules are applicable, limiting the entry to the Republic of Lithuania of foreign nationals. It is strongly advised for all travelers to make sure that they comply with the entry requirements and are aware of testing and isolation exemptions before travel. Schengen visa information

Schengen States issue uniform visas for short stay visit not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period. The Schengen visa may be issued for a single entry (as a rule for the 1st time visitors of the Schengen area), for two entries, or as a multiple entry visa in case the applicant proves the need or justifies the intention to travel frequently as well as proves his/her integrity and reliability, in particular the lawful use of previous Schengen visas, etc. (as per Schengen Visa Code, Article 24).

If your travel destination is only Hungary, or €“ in case of a Saudi resident - Lithuania or Slovakia -, the Hungarian Embassy in Riyadh will deal with your application. If your travel destination includes more than one Schengen Member State, your application must be dealt by the Embassy/Consulate of your main destination. The following criteria may help you to decide whether you should submit your visa application with the Hungarian Visa Application Centre.

• Hungary, or - in case of a Saudi resident - Lithuania or Slovakia is the sole destination of your visit(s);
• Your visit to Schengen States includes more than one destination and Hungary or - in case a Saudi resident - Lithuania or Slovakia - is the main destination of the visit(s) in terms of the length or purpose of stay;
• If you cannot determine which is your main destination, but Hungary or Lithuania or Slovakia is the first Schengen State you wish to enter.

Please note that the Embassy of Hungary in Riyadh issues visas only for residents - or for applicants legally residing - in its territory of its responsibility, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain, Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen.

Submission of the Schengen visa application

The issuance of visas in Yemen is suspended for indefinite period due to the security conditions in Yemen. The applicants are kindly asked to present their "C" -type Schengen visa applications for Hungary in Saudi-Arabia, or in case of difficulties with the entry to KSA, the applications can be submitted at the Consular Sections of any Hungarian Embassies in the region (Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, or Amman), or at the Hungarian Embassy in Cairo.

2.) €œD€ type, long term (planned stay exceeds 90 days, e.g. studies), €œnational€ residence permit visa applications

Working hours for submitting the application (personal presence is requested): Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Consular Section of the Hungarian Embassy in Riyadh.

VFS Global opens Hungary visa application centres in KSA

VFS Global has opened Hungarian Visa Application Centres across three cities in Saudi Arabia. 

Located in Al-Khobar, Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabians can now submit visa applications and enrol for biometrics at the centres.

KSA is the third country in the Middle East, after Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, from where applicants can apply for a visa to Hungary.

Another centre in Bahrain is expected to be launched in the coming months.

The three centres are centrally located in the main business districts of Al-Khobar, Jeddah and Riyadh. Services at all three locations will commence from 25 February.

Schengen information

Tourist Visa

Applicable for solely tourism purposes. If tourism is joined with another purpose such as a business meeting, private visit or visit of relatives, etc., such other purpose should be declared as the main one.

Applicants applying at Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of BHD 11.476 and mandatory two way courier fee of BHD 4.098 (Inclusive of 10% VAT) in addition to the visa fees.

Please Note:

• The applicable visa fee in Bahraini Dinar is as per the current exchange rate. The same is subject to change without notice.
• The visa fee, service fee and the logistic fee is paid in cash at the visa application centre and is non-refundable in case the visa is refused

VISA Fee Exemption:

• Family members of a citizen of the European Economic Area, notwithstanding their nationality are exempt from the fee (Children - under the age of 18/Spouse of EU Citizen/Parents of children - under the age of 18 - if the child is an EEA citizen)
• Children below the age of 6 years on the date of submission at VFS are exempted of the Visa Fee. However VFS Global service charges will be applicable.

Holders of diplomatic and special passports

• Bearers of Diplomatic and Special Passports are exempted of the Visa Fee. However VFS Global service charges will be applicable.

Please check the list of requisite documents before submitting your application. This will minimize chances of rejection of your Visa Application due to incorrect or inadequate documents

Due to current situation - Bahrain issued Vaccination Certificate has to be attached in addition to the required documents as per checklist

• colored photo taken against a white background
• not older than 6 months
• face-cover is not permitted for Ladies, head cover is permitted only for religious reasons, provided that all facial details are still clearly visible and the head-dress does not cast any shadow over the face
• head cover is not permitted for Gentleman
• glasses are not permitted
• image must not have been altered
• image must be sharp, clear and good quality

The photograph for visa must satisfy the requirements listed above. If those are not met, the applicant will be asked to present new photo.

• The processing time for assessment of a Schengen Visa depends on the applicant's nationality and may take up to 15 calendar days after the application is registered with the Embassy of Hungary in Riyadh. Applications should be made as early as possible (within 6 months ahead of departure).
• Please Note: The processing time is an indication only. Applicants can always be requested by the Embassy to appear for an interview. The Embassy reserves the right to ask for further documentation.

Please note if you are applying for a visa to Hungary from Bahrain, it will take an additional of 3-4 days apart from the standard processing time.

Please take a printout of the Visa application Form. You are required to fill in all details of the applicant in a legible handwriting and submit it along with the required documents to the Visa Application Center.

Business/work

Business Visa or Visa for the attendance at a Conference

• The visa fee, service fee, and the logistic fee is paid in cash at the visa application centre and is non-refundable in case the visa is refused

Close Relatives/family Members Visits

Visa for the visit friends or family, or attending at a sport event

In case of staying with friends or family member in Hungary, the applicant has to submit an invitation letter with an attached copy of the Hungarian residence permit of the friend or family member justifying the purpose of the visit.

The travelers with the purpose of sport activity have to submit an invitation letter or the acceptance letter of the Hungarian Sport Club or Sport Facility, or a proof about the registration at the sport event.

Family members of the EEA Member States traveling together with or to the family member of an EEA Member States for the purpose of visit are exempt from the visa fee and submission of part of supporting documents enlisted on the checklists to be downloaded for the application.

Medical Treatment

Visa for the purpose of Medical Treatment

Applicable for solely medical treatments in Hungary not longer than 90 days. In case of wellness programs tourism purpose should be declared.

The accompanying persons have to apply for a tourist visa.

Domestic Worker

• This visa is intended for household helpers (house keeper/nanny/houseboy) who are travelling with local sponsor who either own a property in Hungary or has a rented apartment that does not provide in-house housekeeping services; and are travelling with children/medical patient/elderly/child with special needs. This visa does not allow the visa holder to work in Hungary apart from the purpose stated at the time of application.
• Only legal residents of Bahrain who had completed 1 year with the same sponsor can apply for a visa at the Application Center in Manama. Applicant must have a valid Bahrain residency that covers the entire duration of the trip (‘til the date of return).
• The Embassy reserves the right to call on applicants for interview if further details or documents are required.
• Visa applicants must submit their application in person and enroll their biometric (fingerprints) at the time of submission.
• Only applicants travelling within the next 3 months (90 days) can submit their application
• Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted; and the visa application can only be processed upon receipt of ALL documents required by the Embassy (see List of required documents).

Once received by the Visa Application Centre, applications will be sent to the Embassy of Hungary in Saudi Arabia the next working day & the applicant will be given an appointment for a personal Interview (if needed) with the Embassy of Hungary in Riyadh. Once the assessment is completed by the Embassy, the decision together with the passport & the other relevant documents will be available for collection from the Visa Application Centre.

Visa is valid to visit all the Schengen States. Only Bahrain nationals and nationals of third countries that are legal residents in Bahrain can apply for a visa at the Hungary Visa Application Centre in Manama. Visa applicants are requested to appear in person at the time of submission.

Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted.

Visa fees are non-refundable and have to be paid only in cash at the time of application

If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:

• The Embassy of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest.

Applicant’s lack of Travel plan will not fall on Embassy priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience

• The visa fee, service charge, and the logistic fee is paid in cash at the visa application centre and is non-refundable in case the visa is refused
• Under normal circumstance, applications can be processed within 5 working days for GCC passport holders and other nationalities (eg. India, Philippines) (Subject to change without prior notice).
• Other nationalities not listed above could be processed within 10-21 days.
• The above period does not guarantee that applications will be processed within that certain duration; the period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member state are consulted.
• Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
