Whether you are visiting Oklahoma City or you’re a local, Segway PTs are definitely  the best transportation to see the sights in downtown and Bricktown. Segway PTs are faster, less strenuous, and more enjoyable than walking, and maneuver more easily than cars or bicycles, and are safer than scooters.

In early 2012, Exciting Adventures and Sure Beats Walking obtained training from Segway for services and repairs, making us the only Oklahoma sales, parts, and service provider for Segway vehicles.

Schedule a tour of Bricktown as quickly as 1 hour in advance. The Bricktown-Downtown tour is approximately a 2 hour guided tour starting with the beautiful scenery of the canal. Other sites along the way are the Oklahoma Centennial Land Run in bronze, the new canal leading to the Boathouse District. We will also breeze by the Cox Convention Center, the Chesapeake Arena, and the Myriad Gardens. On the way to the Oklahoma City Memorial, we will see the Civic Center, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and the Art District. On the way back, we will introduce you to some of the spectacular architecture and history of Oklahoma City like the Skirvin Hotel and Kerr McGee. Large groups will need to allot more time for training. .

Segway Tours ~

Explore Oglebay’s beautiful 2,000-acre park through the ultimate hi-tech ride! The Segway Personal Transporter is the perfect way to explore the scenic beauty of Oglebay. Tours take riders on an adventure through the park’s hard-surface trail system to enjoy breathtaking scenery. Segways are environmentally friendly — no gas, no fumes, and almost no noise. Plus, they’re easy to learn and fun to ride.

Hours & Pricing

Guided Segway Tours available daily at 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm. Please register online at the link below. Segway Learning Experience available first come, first served and based on availability. 

Guided Segway Tours | $45 per person 90-minute guided tour through the park; advance registration required.

Segway Learning Experience | $20 per person 45-minute learning experience – Video demo and parking lot practice. Ideal for guests who want to get a feel for riding a Segway. Registration not required; based on availability.

Safety Information

All Segway riders must wear a helmet and closed-toed shoes at all times. Riders must be at least 16 years of age. Rides under the age of 18 require written parental consent. Segway tours are not appropriate for those with injuries, those under the influence of alcohol, or those who are pregnant. Riders must weigh between 100 – 260 lbs. Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times, and flip flops and heels are not permitted.

Driving Directions

We are located at 1320 Patterson. If coming from Field Street, turn North onto Patterson. If coming from Akard Street, turn South onto Patterson Street. Our physical location is 1320 Patterson St.

There is lot parking across from our office at 1390 Patterson St. There are multiple lots and prices fluctuate depending on the day of the week and season. Dallas is a very large and busy downtown, so please give yourself ample time to find parking.

Our tour guide will meet you 15 minutes before the tour in front of our storefront at 1390 Patterson.

Restrictions

Minimum age is 14 years old and minimum weight requirement is 100 pounds. Maximum weight of 275 pounds. Pregnant guests please refrain from participating. Guests should be able to climb stairs without assistance and stand for at least 1 hour. Guests will receive group Segway training as well as individual training. Guests will be provided with a helmet and must fill out a liability waiver form. Riders under 18 must have a parent sign waiver and at least one parent or guardian be on tour with them.

‘You don’t realize how bad it is’: Small Business Administration tours Sulphur, offering $1000s to victims

S ULPHUR, Okla. (KFOR) – More than a month after a tornado ravaged the small city of Sulphur in April, the Small Business Administration is surveying the damage to see where it can help the most.

Downtown Sulphur is nearly unrecognizable.

Among the several businesses hit on West Muskogee Avenue is The Mix Mercantile. It’s a boutique that has been in the same location since 2012.

“We had a little bit of everything: Women’s clothes, children’s clothes, gourmet food. There was a restaurant in the back,” said the Co-Owner of The Mix Mercantile, Christy Morris.

Mother nature hit Sulphur late on April 27. Once the sun rose the next day, Morris said it was “traumatic.”

“It’s even worse than when you see it on TV. It’s pretty common here in Oklahoma. But until it happens to you, you don’t realize really how bad it is,” she said.

The building where Morris’ business once stood is now covered in debris, shattered glass, and loose instillation.

Morris told KFOR she’s already begun working with a contractor who estimated to get the business back up and running would take less than a year.

“We’re working on plans for the rebuild. We will go back right here. Our foundation is secure, so we’ll just go back on top of this foundation. What I’ll be doing this month is finalizing plans with architects,” explained Morris.

The Mix Mercantile is insured, according to Morris. She has also been working with the Small Business Administration (SBA) who she said has been very helpful in getting her through the loan process.

SBA is the only cabinet-level federal agency fully dedicated to small business and provides counseling, capital, and contracting expertise.

SBA Administrator, Isabel Casillas Guzman, along with members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency met in Sulphur Tuesday morning to survey the damage.

I had anticipated the type of destruction we saw. This is a historical town, a beautiful town that has been completely destroyed. Isabel Casillas Guzman, Small Business Administration Administrator

Casillas Guzman said 99.7% of all businesses in the USA are small businesses.

“[Small businesses] employ people locally as well as provide the products and services we depend on every day. And really our main streets around this country define neighborhoods and bring people together. They’re critical as a community looks to recover and rebuild,” said Casillas Guzman. “We’ve set up a Business Recovery Center as well as disaster recovery centers with FEMA. Our applications are open for the physical disaster through the beginning of July.”

Physical disaster loans will be available through July 15.

Economic injury loans will be available to apply for through February 18, 2025.

Those who apply for SBA loans can qualify for up to:

• $100,000 – renters or personal property effects
• $500,000 – homeowners
• $2 million – businesses

Those loans will be 12 months deferred, meaning no interest will accrue and no payments will be due for the first year, according to Casillas Guzman.

“We understand this is going to be a long term build. SBA is here for the long term,” stated Casillas Guzman.

From application to disbursement, the turn around time for Sulphur applicants is averaging 7-10 days.

“I’ve seen loans go through as fast as 24 to 48 hours, depending on the complexity of the loan and what is being requested,” added Casillas Guzman.

Morris said she has filed for a SBA loan and that the process was “very easy.”

“We’ve done loans through banks in the past, whether it be for [the Mix Mercantile] or for homes that we’ve purchased or built. This has been the easiest process so far,” said Morris. “Everything you do is online.”

The Black Keys cancel fall North American tour that was to launch in Oklahoma: What to know

The Black Keys have canceled their 2024 North American headlining tour that was originally slated to launch in Oklahoma.

The duo of singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney announced in April plans to kick off the fall "International Players Tour" Sept. 17 at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Produced by Live Nation, the coast-to-coast tour originally was scheduled to go on to New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, with two dates in the band’s home state of Ohio.

The Black Keys ' 31-city autumn tour was to support their 12th studio album, "Ohio Players," which was released April 5 via Nonesuch Records.

The Tulsa tour-launching date is now listed as canceled at bokcenter.com . All the dates have been scrubbed from the Black Keys' website and are listed as canceled on Ticketmaster.com except for the July 6 NASCAR Chicago Street Race at Grant Park.

The Black Keys reveal plans to reconfigure tour, promise to announce new dates

An Instagram post over Memorial Day weekend on The Black Keys' official account assured fans that Carney and Auerbach "are alive and well."

The Instagram post also revealed the duo's plans to reconfigure the the North American leg of the tour.

"Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly," the band posted on Instagram.

The post states that fans who purchased tickets to the initial tour dates will be fully refunded, "and when the new plans are announced, will be the first to be able to buy tickets."

Tulsa ticketholders received an email over the weekend that "no action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer." Ticketholders should expect the refund to appear on their account within 14 to 21 days, according to the email.

"Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the surprise change," The Black Keys' Instagram post concluded. "We’re pretty sure everyone is going to be excited when you see what we have in mind though, and look forward to seeing everyone soon."

2024 NCAA DI softball tournament schedule

Here are the key dates for the 2024 NCAA DI softball tournament:

How the championship works: Regionals — at 16 sites — are double-elimination and scheduled for May 16/17-19. The 16 winners advance to super regionals and play a two-team, best-out-of-three series either May 23-25 or May 24-26. The eight winners earn spots in the 2024 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. The WCWS begins May 30 in double-elimination format. The final two teams play a best-of-three series for the national championship beginning June 5.

WCWS 2024 highlights, results: Oklahoma beats UCLA as Kelly Maxwell dominates Bruins, Brady

Two of the most storied softball programs in the country met Saturday in Game 7 of the Women's College World Series. No. 6-seed UCLA - a program with a record 12 NCAA softball championships - faced off against three-time defending champions and No. 2-seed Oklahoma.

Women's College World Series: Softball teams battle to win 2024 NCAA tournament

After scoring a combined 78 runs in the tournament prior to this game, this matchup of national powers became a pitching duel. Oklahoma's Kelly Maxwell had one of the best performances of her career to shutout the Bruins and give the Sooners a 1-0 win.

Maxwell's strikeout of UCLA's Thessa Malau'ulu in the top of the seventh gave her a season-high 11 in the game. The graduate transfer from Oklahoma State threw 116 pitches and surrendered just two hits in her first complete game since the tournament opener against Oregon.

"I'm proud of this team and I'm proud I made this decision (to transfer)," Maxwell said on the field after the game.

Tiare Jennings' solo home run for the Sooners in the third inning was the difference on the day. It marked her ninth career Women's College World Series home run as Oklahoma earned its 11th win in a row.

UCLA vs. Oklahoma highlights

In a duel between the All-American pitcher Maxwell and the All-American shortstop Maya Brady, the former earned a resounding win with three strikeouts against the Bruins' top hitter.

Maxwell held it down in the circle for the Sooners. Her UCLA counterpart, freshman Kaitlyn Terry, played well to limit Oklahoma to just four hits on the day. But she couldn't completely stifle one of the best hitting teams in the country. Jennings' home run was the lone setback and it proved to be the difference in a low-scoring game.

Shortly after Jennings' home run, Kelly Pickering nearly went yard for the Sooners again but Bruins centerfielder Janelle Meoño made a crucial catch to keep Oklahoma from scoring again.

Both teams played well in the field with just one error by Oklahoma in the game.

With one on and two outs, UCLA's Sharlize Palacios made a diving catch behind home base to earn a third out. Oklahoma challenged the ruling of a catch and upon further review, it was ruled a foul ball. 2-2 count for Kinzie Hansen.

After two and a half scoreless innings, Tiare Jennings went deep to centerfield on the first pitch of the bottom of the third. It's her ninth career home run in the Women's College World Series. Oklahoma leads 1-0.

Justin Martinez writes: "OU's offense didn't have much trouble scoring against Duke, which entered Thursday's WCWS opener with the third-best team ERA in the nation (1.55). Now the Sooners will face the Bruins, who have a young pitching duo of freshman Kaitlyn Terry and sophomore Taylor Tinsley. Both players earned All-Pac-12 first team selections this season, but asking them to contain an experienced OU offense on the sport's biggest stage is a tall order."

Heartland College Sports : Oklahoma 9, UCLA 4

Bryan Clinton says: "Oklahoma’s offense was on fire against an excellent Duke pitching staff, and while UCLA has been playing terrific softball of late, their staff ranks seventh out of eight teams that made it to OKC with a 2.71-team ERA. If the Sooners’ bats stay hot, they should be able to pull away in this one. I’m not predicting a third consecutive shutout in the series, as OU’s pitching staff isn’t as good as it was in 2022 or 2023, but this group of seniors has had a vendetta against UCLA, and that will continue."

Edward Sutelan writes: "The Sooners are once again dominant in nearly all facets of the game. They rank seventh in team ERA (1.85), first in on-base percentage (.473) and second in slugging percentage (.724) among all Division I teams. They have outscored opponents 483-107 this season."

How did UCLA get here?

The Bruins won their third Pac-12 conference regular season championship of the last four years behind a five-game winning streak to close the season. In the conference tournament, UCLA took care of business against Arizona State 6-0 before one-run wins over Arizona (6-5) and Utah (2-1) secured their title.

UCLA opened the NCAA softball tournament with wins over Grand Canyon (9-0), Virginia Tech (7-6), and Grand Canyon (9-1) again in the regionals round. In the super regionals, the Bruins beat Georgia twice by a combined score of 14-1 to secure a spot in the Women's College World Series bracket. They opened with a 4-1 win over Alabama Thursday to secure their spot against Oklahoma today.

How did Oklahoma get here? 

For the first time since 2011, Oklahoma did not win the Big 12 regular season title. Texas took the title by one win but Oklahoma got back on top in the Big 12 conference tournament by beating the Longhorns 5-1 in the championship game.

The three-time defending NCAA champions have kept the winning up from there. In the regionals round, Oklahoma beat Cleveland State 9-0 before beating Oregon twice by a combined score of 9-5. In the super regionals, Oklahoma beat Florida State 11-3 and 4-2 to make it to the Women's College World Series bracket. They started the final part of the tournament with a 9-1 win over Duke Thursday.

UCLA players to watch 

LHP Kaitlyn Terry, Fr.

Terry's Women's College World Series debut in the circle went well against Alabama. She allowed four hits, one run, and recorded three strikeouts in four innings pitched. She's posted a 21-1 record this season and finished second on the team in ERA (2.35) and strikeouts (154). In a game against one of the best hitting teams in the country, she'll be a key factor for the Bruins.

• SS Maya Brady, Sr.

Brady's long been one of the best hitters on the team and this season was no different. She's leading the team in hits (71), runs (59), and RBI (68) with the second-best batting average (.436). She's stepped up in the tournament, going 13-for-19 from the plate with 11 runs scored and seven RBI. Oklahoma's the second-highest scoring team in the country. UCLA will likely need Brady to continue that production to keep up.

LHP Kelly Maxwell, Gr.

Maxwell came to Norman as a graduate student this year following a successful career with Oklahoma State. She proceeded to post a 20-2 record and lead the team in strikeouts (136) with a 1.96 ERA. In the tournament, she's allowed just seven hits and five runs in 17.2 innings pitched. UCLA's not as productive as Oklahoma from the plate but the Bruins are no easy matchup. Another strong showing from the circle by Maxwell could keep the Sooners on track for a fourth consecutive title.

INF Tiare Jennings, Sr.

In a lineup stacked with productive hitters, the First Team All-American may be the most important one. She holds multiple Women's College World Series records is enjoying a solid run this year. She's gone 8-for-20 from the plate (including three home runs) with six runs scored and six RBI in the tournament. Some of her biggest performances in the Women's College World Series have come against UCLA and she could step up once again.
