New york liberty at las vegas aces odds, picks and predictions, share this article.

pga tour schedule new york

The New York Liberty (11-2) and Las Vegas Aces (6-5) meet Saturday at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s  lines around the Liberty vs. Aces odds , and make our expert WNBA picks and predictions .

Season series: First meeting; Split 2-2 in regular season

Last season, New York and Las Vegas split their 4-game regular-season series. In the Commissioner’s Cup title game, which didn’t count in the regular-season series or the standings, the Liberty rolled to an 82-63 road win as 7.5-point underdogs.

The Aces, however, would get the final bragging rights as they beat the Liberty 3 games to 1 in the best-of-5 WNBA Finals. The Aces won all but Game 3 and covered the spread in all 3 of their wins.

The Liberty enter this one on a 7-game win streak since dropping 2 in a row against the visiting Chicago Sky May 23, and at the Minnesota Lynx May 25. New York had covered 4 in a row until only beating the Washington Mystics 93-88 as a 15-point favorite Sunday in its most recent game. The Liberty are also 4-1 ATS in their past 5 road outings, while the Over has cashed in 4 of their past 6 games.

The Aces snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 103-99 road win Thursday at the Phoenix Mercury. It was the first time Las Vegas lost 3 in a row since the 2019 season. While Las Vegas won at Phoenix, the Aces didn’t cover as 6-point favorites. They are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 and 1-5 ATS in the last 6. As for the O/U, the Over has cashed in 3 in a row, and 7 of the previous 10 outings.

Liberty at Aces odds

Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:32 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML) : Liberty +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Aces -134 (bet $134 to win $100)
  • Against the spread : Liberty +2.5 (-112) | Aces -2.5 (-108)
  • Over/Under (O/U) : 171.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Liberty at Aces picks and predictions

Liberty 90, Aces 86

NEW YORK (+ 110 ) is worth a look as a slight road ‘dog.

As mentioned, Las Vegas (-134) beat New York in the WNBA Finals in 4 games, but instead of pocket Aces, this team has been performing like a 2 and a 7 lately. Yes, the Aces won at the Mercury last time out, but they still struggled defensively, allowing 99 points.

New York has rattled off 7 in a row, which included an 81-78 win over the Mercury and an 82-75 victory last Saturday at Connecticut — it was the Sun’s 1st loss of the season.

Against the spread

If you’re not interested betting on an outright win and would rather take the little bit of points, New York +2.5 ( -112 ) is worth a play.

Las Vegas is just 1-5 ATS in 6 games at home this season, so playing the New York isn’t a bad idea. If f you like the Liberty, you should just play them straight up on the moneyline for a better value.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now !

OVER 171.5 ( -110 ) is a strong play whenever the Aces are associated lately.

The Over has cashed in 3 in a row for the Aces, while they also allowed 96 or more points in 3 straight games and an average of 98.3 PPG. The Over has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games at home for the Aces, too.

For New York, the Over has cashed in 2 in a row, and in 4 of the past 6 games. The total has gone Over just once in the past 5 road games, though, so be careful.

Here’s a recent AP golf story:

The PGA Tour reported progress without details from a face-to-face meeting between its negotiating committee and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia as it tries to work toward a deal.

“We want to get this right, and we are approaching discussions with careful consideration for our players, our fans, our partners and the game’s future,” the tour said in a statement released Saturday morning.

The meeting in New York on Friday evening involved the “transaction committee” of PGA Tour Enterprises and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund that pays for rival LIV Golf.

Rory McIlroy is on the committee and said he was encouraged by the progress. He referred to the three-hour meeting as “very productive, very constructive, very collaborative.”

“Definitely things are heading in the right direction,” McIlroy said after the third round of the Memorial. He participated on a video call. “A lot of progress was made. I can’t really say much more than that, but it was really positive.”

PGA Tour Enterprises is the commercial group that came out of the framework agreement announced a year ago among the PGA Tour, PIF and the European tour.

PGA Tour Enterprises brought on Strategic Sports Group, which invested an initial $1.5 billion earlier this year. Negotiations are ongoing to bring in PIF as a minority investor, and there has been more activity than previously believed.

McIlroy, who joined Tiger Woods and Adam Scott on the transaction committee, said it has been meeting with PIF representatives every Monday, Wednesday and Friday over the last couple of weeks. The tour referred to negotiations as “accelerated” in recent months.

Friday’s meeting was the first in-person discussion since players and board members met with Al-Rumayyan in the Bahamas the day after The Players Championship in March.

The tour said the committee and PIF have been meeting “multiple times weekly to work through potential deal terms and come to a shared vision on the future of professional golf.” It said only that “more progress was made” in New York.

“We remain committed to these negotiations, which require working through complex considerations to best position golf for global growth,” the tour said.

McIlroy said those multiple meetings are more about financials, such as the investment possibilities of PIF and SSG.

“But I think last night was more talking about the future of the game and the vision, and that was where I thought there was a lot of progress that was made,” he said.

Woods and Scott are on the full PGA Tour Enterprises board, along with player directors Jordan Spieth, Webb Simpson, Patrick Cantlay and Peter Malnati.

McIlroy resigned from the PGA Tour board last November, and there was an unsuccessful attempt by Simpson to have McIlroy replace him. McIlroy, the strongest voice who has gone from heavy criticism of LIV to being more willing to compromise, is part of the transaction committee and ultimately does not have a vote.

But he has relationships with both sides of the table. McIlroy had said he would be more in listen mode when the business leaders — Al-Rumayyan and his team at PIF, a PGA Tour Enterprises committee that includes four SSG investors — sorted through details.

“We’re there to maybe give a perspective from player’s point of view,” McIlroy had said Thursday. “But, I mean, this is a negotiation about an investment into PGA Tour Enterprises. This is ‘big boy’ stuff, and I’ll certainly be doing more listening than I will be talking.”

He said Saturday he did weigh in on occasion.

“The mute button was turned off a couple of times to chime in,” he said.

A year later, no PGA Tour-PIF deal. Was it ever close? Is it coming soon?

Never has a year felt so long and yet so short than the last 12 months in pro golf.

In the spring of 2022, LIV Golf launched. By the spring of '23, the PGA Tour was convinced it needed to reach a deal with the Saudi PIF. That all happened pretty quickly! But since then? Stagnancy. A grindingly slow churn of modest updates and a musical chairs of board seats . Golf fans are right to wonder what the future looks like, and free to be disgruntled by the lack of progress.

Who is to blame?

The blanket answer is … everyone . The first wave of players who left for LIV Golf, and the others who trickled behind, chasing money over anything else. The Tour executives who used unilateral power to reach an initial agreement without, say, Tiger Woods having the slightest idea. But also Woods himself, among other players, for plodding along, wresting control of decision-making on the policy board, and showing a general distaste for team golf not played in a Palm Beach Gardens dome.

Plenty of blame can go to the PIF for throwing good money after bad, and for thinking its chief, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, could be granted an Augusta National membership with the snap of a finger. These things happened. They're baked into background conversations and also in documents shared by a U.S. Senate investigation. Some of them were small and others were meaningful, but cumulatively they have led to a sluggish 12 months.

Golf fans who stayed loyal to the product through this period - through senate hearings, late-night demands from top players, sponsor angst, new investment! - would be right to wonder a few things, namely (1) How close was a deal in 2023?, and (2) Is a deal coming soon?

As for the first question, the slowed pace can largely be attributed to Tour players wanting to hit pause last summer. Professional athletes don't like surprises. Neither do their managers and families. To many pros, the June 6 announcement was a surprise bordering on a slap in the face. As independent contractors, Tour pros are accustomed to signing up for only what they want. Not everyone wanted a deal. Not everyone was comfortable with the idea of LIV golfers returning without sanctions. Players were as vocal as ever, calling for management changes, demanding repercussions, etc. The Tour had to get its house in order before it could proceed.

Even if the details were not perfectly ironed out, the two sides were engaged. They hadn't reached wedding week and certainly hadn't walked down the aisle together but proposals were agreed to. Litigation was dropped. And it took just five weeks to put a ring on it. The initial rough layout of a future pro golf schedule that involves both LIV and the PGA Tour was brokered by Keith Pelley and sent to Jimmy Dunne on April 14, 2023. By May 16, the two sides had met in Venice and hammered out the first draft of an agreement. Five weeks! It doesn't have to be slow, but it has been.

Was the deal close? Close enough that both sides were planning new directors for LIV Golf. Close enough that both sides were envisioning a global schedule without conflict. Close enough that Dunne wanted the sides to reach a definitive agreement before Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan would make an announcement together, broadcasting to the world their new partnership. But … is anything close without Tiger Woods' blessing?

Which brings us to the second question: Is a deal nearing? There is cause for optimism. But only of the slightest degree.

The two sides recently swapped term sheets, according to the New York Times - essentially an exchanging of information, intentions, etc. - presenting their own view of their offerings. Rest assured, the same sort of swapping took place in secretive meetings a year ago. There should be little surprise about what the PIF wanted then and what its leaders continue to want now: a foot in the golf door, a defined future for team golf, room for PIF companies (Aramaco, new airline Riyadh Air, etc.) to sponsor pro golf in much the same way they do with other sports. But when Adam Scott, a member of the Policy Board, suggested last week that he doesn't know the PIF's vision, it tells you something important: It hasn't fully been explained to him.

So, it’s a good thing that Scott will learn about it this week. He’s a board member of PGA Tour Enterprises - the new for-profit company which would presumably receive any investment from the PIF - and a member of the new transaction sub-committee within the board. That sub-committee is set to meet with PIF representatives in New York this week, according to the Times . That’s Tiger Woods and John Henry (and a few other non-players), with Rory McIlroy calling in from the Memorial Tournament. The heaviest of hitters gathering around the table. It may have taken us 12 months to arrive here, but it’s starting to feel like progress.

Cole Anderson of Camden earned conditional membership on the PGA Tour Americas circuit by finishing in a tie for 10th place at a qualifying tournament in Courtenay, British Columbia.

Anderson’s four-day total of 6-under 282 left him just outside the top nine, which is what he needed to receive exempt status for the North America portion of the schedule. Instead, he’ll be conditionally eligible for nine events in Canada and one in Minnesota over the next three months.

LPGA: Nelly Korda missed her second straight cut after winning six of seven events, rallying but falling a stroke short of advancing to weekend play in the Meijer LPGA Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The top-ranked Korda followed an opening 4-over 76 in windy conditions Thursday with a 67 to get to 1 under at Blythefield Country Club, where she won in 2021 at a tournament-record 25 under.

Ally Ewing and Grace Kim shared the lead at 11-under 133. Eighty-one players at 2 under or better advanced. Advertisement

EASTERN LEAGUE: The Reading Fightin Phils scored eight runs in the third inning and cruised to a 13-5 win Friday night against the Portland Sea Dogs in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Sea Dogs starter Juan Daniel Encarnacion was knocked out in the third inning of his Double-A debut, allowing seven runs in 2 1/3 innings. Portland pitchers issued 10 walks and hit a batter.

Kristian Campbell hit his first two Double-A home runs for the Sea Dogs. Blaze Jordan was 0 for 5, ending his 19-game hitting streak.

NFL:  Veteran safety Tony Jefferson has come out of retirement to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers, the team announced. Advertisement

The 32-year-old Jefferson had a tryout during the Chargers’ minicamp, which concluded Thursday.

The Chargers will be the fifth team for Jefferson. He made the Arizona Cardinals’ roster as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has also played for the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants. He joined the Ravens’ front office last year as an intern as part of the NFL’s Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship.

• Jayden Daniels signed his rookie contract with the Washington Commanders, the next step in becoming the team’s franchise quarterback.

The Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU was the second pick in the NFL draft. As a result, the contract is worth $37.75 million for four years with a $24.3 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option for the 2028 season.

Coach Dan Quinn has not named Daniels as the Commanders’ starting QB, instead saying training camp will be an open competition with veteran Marcus Mariota. But Daniels figures to win that competition and become Washington’s eighth Week 1 starter at the position in as many seasons.

AUTO RACING Advertisement

NASCAR CUP SERIES: Martin Truex Jr. announced he will retire from full-time racing at the end of the season, saying it was time to live by his own schedule after 19 years in NASCAR’s Cup Series.

“I mean, it’s as simple as just not having a crazy schedule where, you know, you’re 40 weekends at a race track,” Truex said at Iowa Speedway, where he will be making his 674th Cup start on Sunday. “Everyone in my family, who’s ever gotten married, I’ve missed their wedding. You know what I mean? … You don’t have a life. You’re married to racing, that’s all you do. Monday until Sunday, that’s all you do.”

Questions about possible retirement have followed Truex over the last couple years. The news broke on Thursday – “I don’t even know why I’m here,” Truex joked as he started his news conference – but Truex said he made the decision “a few weeks ago.”

U.S. MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM:   Midfielder Timmy Tillman was cut from the United States roster for the Copa America, getting the team down to the 26-player limit for the tournament.

Tillman was in the U.S. training camp for the past two weeks but the 25-year-old didn’t play in a pair of warmup games, a 5-1 loss to Colombia last weekend and a 1-1 draw against Brazil on Wednesday. He will return to Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC. Advertisement

U.S. Coach Gregg Berhalter kept forward Josh Sargent, who didn’t play in the two games as he recovers from an ankle injury.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:  Borussia Dortmund appointed former player Nuri Sahin as coach to replace Edin Terzić, who quit the club the day before.

The 35-year-old Sahin, who was previously Terzić’s assistant, signed a new three-year contract.

DANISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION:  Players from Denmark’s men’s team refused a pay rise in what has been described as an “extraordinary step” to ensure they have equal working conditions with their female soccer counterparts.

The men’s team’s new agreement with the Danish Football Association comes into effect after the European Championship in Germany until 2028. It will see male and female internationals receive the same money for representing their national teams.

As part of the new deal, the male players accepted a 15% decrease in their insurance coverage to allow for an upgrade of that of the women’s players by 50%. The men also turned down the opportunity for a pay rise. Advertisement

ESPORTS:  The first Olympic Esports Games are set to be added soon to the IOC’s portfolio of events as it seeks to attract and retain young audiences.

The International Olympic Committee said it will ask members to approve a proposal to create a video game Olympics when they meet next month in Paris on the eve of the Summer Games.

The Olympic body said it was in “advanced discussions with a potential host” that should be announced soon after the July 23-24 meeting in Paris.

PGA Tour’s Jay Monahan gives update on merger negotiations with LIV Golf: ‘It’s going to take time’

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA - MARCH 12: PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan speaks during a press conference prior to THE PLAYERS Championship on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass on March 12, 2024 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. (Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images)

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia are ongoing and that he and investors flew to Saudi Arabia in January to meet with PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

Speaking at his annual news conference before the Players Championship, Monahan maintained that a deal with PIF is the best outcome for the PGA Tour and that he and Al-Rumayyan have a “shared vision” for how to end division and grow the sport.

But, Monahan made sure to clarify multiple times, “It’s going to take time.”

Citing the ongoing nature of those discussions as he’s done for the past nine months, Monahan declined to expand on any details of where things stand with PIF. For example, he did not comment on any potential path back on Tour for LIV golfers or if there’s a future for team golf in a hypothetical agreement.

The PGA Tour also partnered with Strategic Sports Group (SSG), a consortium of billionaire investors, who invested $3 billion to help form the new PGA Tour Enterprises in February. Monahan said SSG agreed it was important to engage with PIF, and SSG investors went with Monahan to meet with PIF in January before finalizing the deal. He did not think the SSG deal made PIF negotiations more difficult or discouraged them.

“I do believe that negotiating a deal with PIF is the best outcome,” Monahan said. “Obviously it has to be the right deal for both sides, like any situation or negotiation.”

Monahan was asked often about frustration from his PGA Tour membership with how this has been handled and whether or not LIV players should be allowed a return back. He did not deny a direct question asking if the PGA Tour policy board has ever asked him to resign, saying there has been lively debate but he considers it now a unified front.

“I can’t generalize as it relates to players,” Monahan said, “but clearly given the responsibility I’ve been given by both boards, I have the support of our board, and I am the right person to lead us forward. I know that. I believe that in my heart, and I’m determined to do exactly that.”

Monahan also spoke about refocusing on golf fans. Golf as a sport is at its most popular, thanks in part to a golf boom during COVID-19, and Monahan said much of the hope for SSG getting a return on its investment is to provide more value for fans. He said feedback from fans has been a desire to see more golf shots during coverage, more data and analytics and more innovations like mic’d up segments with mid-round interviews of golfers.
