about the artist

If you want to arrive with a bang, you can’t do much better than Rebūke. A project forged in the white-hot atmospheres of the Irish underground club and rave scene has ushered in the most exciting new artist in years. A DJ and producer creating something new and genuinely exciting. A soundclash of house, techno and rave (yes, rave) records from the early 90’s melded together to create that elusive thing – an original sound of his own.

His track ‘Along Came Polly’ has been a game-changer. A twisting, turbo-charged rattlesnake of a track that sounds like nothing else, it…

His track ‘Along Came Polly’ has been a game-changer. A twisting, turbo-charged rattlesnake of a track that sounds like nothing else, it was exclusively in the hands of Jamie Jones who played it all summer 2018 to rapturous reactions – and a viral response on social media. Besieged with requests and signed to Hot Creations, it rocketed to the top of the Beatport charts on release and stayed there for a month – including two months at the top of the tech house charts. It was 2018’s final Essential New Tune for Pete Tong on Radio 1. Rebūke has been an ever present on the station’s playlists ever since, gaining constant rotation from the likes of Mistajam, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Monki – not to mention his own exclusive hot mix for Tong himself in February 2019.

His follow up Jump Ship EP on Dirtybird, snapped up by Claude Von Stroke and featuring ‘The Pipe’ topped the Radio 1 Dance chart for 2 weeks and again went top 10 on Beatport widening his fan base even further and lauded by everyone from Adam Beyer to Diplo, Jamie Jones to Fisher. As a result, Danny Howard named him as one of his 3 Future Fire stars for 2019.

His Rebūke/rave series caused a major stir with reimagined versions of rave era classics such as ‘Bombscare’ and ‘The Tape’, gaining glowing reviews from A list DJs. It led directly to an official remix of Xpansions ‘Move Your Body’ on Shadow Child’s Food Music, again play listed across the board on Radio 1 and charting highly on Beatport.

Describing his sound itself is pretty easy for Rebūke. “I love house, techno, and old rave records. I’ve got a deep, almost obsessional interest in the Italian, Belgian and UK records from the early 90's and I try to bring that into my productions. It’s really about capturing the dirt and energy of the records of that time and fusing it with modern house and techno that I love too. That’s definitely what appeals to me.”

His DJ career has exploded along similar lines. Already a headline star in his native Ireland he’s put in roof shaking performances at the likes of Techworks (Cork) BD Festival (Wicklow) with forthcoming appearances at Techworks (Cork) and Life Festival (Meath). Club appearances at D8 Dublin, Shine Belfast and support slots for the likes of the Chemical Brothers and Deadmau5 have cemented him as one of the most bankable names in Ireland.

Further afield he is already playing constantly in the UK and Europe. Handpicked to play at Annie Mac’s Lost and Found Festival (Malta), Hideout (Croatia) Fabric (London) Stealth (Nottingham), Amsterdam, Oslo, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool are among many others ticked off in the first period of 2019 alone. North American debuts during Miami Music Week playing for both Paradise and Dirtybird are confirmed along with a debut tour of Australia in June, with a full-length tour of the USA to follow in the summer. Closer to home, his own night ‘Outhouse’ has grown from humble beginnings to become a phenomenon – inviting guests of the calibre of Alan Fitzpatrick, Darius Syrossian, Mella Dee, Ejeca and Huxley alongside Rebūke’s own headline appearances.

And the name Rebūke? ‘Well it’s a play on words on my real name which I really liked’ says the man himself. ‘But it also means ‘to intend to correct a fault’ which appealed to me too because I was getting bored with all the same old tech house I was hearing. I thought it was time to do something about that.’ he laughs.

It’s fair to say Rebūke is doing something about it…

INTERVIEW: We chat with Ireland’s Rebūke!

rebuke australia tour

With his Beatport charting hit ‘ Along Came Polly ’, which was heard across the globe’s best dancefloors, Ireland’s Rebūke can rightly be considered one of 2018’s breakout producers. It was definitely not a fluke as the producer from Letterkenny has been producing for over a decade. We had a chat with the producer ahead of his debut Australian tour …

So you’re from Letterkenny in Ireland! How would you describe where you’re from to people who have never heard of it? Letterkenny has a population of fewer than 20,000 people and around 4 hours away from Dublin airport, so technically it’s a pain in the ass to get to – but I love it.

You’ve stated in the past you draw a lot of inspiration from early rave culture. How and where did that love unfurl? I just think it’s wicked man. I’m 26 so didn’t get to experience it first hand, but that era just feels so pure and full of life. We’re in this weird era of everyone taking videos all night to be seen, they are spending more time worrying about how they look on the dancefloor rather than getting lost in the music. It’s not something I’m particularly into but can’t complain too much as the same people are keeping me in a job, I just wish we could bring that era back a bit.

Although it seems like you’ve just popped out of nowhere, you’ve actually been in the industry and producing music for 10 years. Was the goal always for mass success as a creative, or was it just something you did as a hobby that then got you International acclaim? I’ve been making music for years, obviously, the goal was to make a living from it, which thankfully I am doing now. Asides from that money isn’t important to me. I’ve knocked back so many high paying gigs this year just because I don’t think that I will enjoy it or its not something I see myself aligning with. I’m still not where I want to be, but I feel blessed to be in the position I’m in now, and I’m working hard to grow and expand.

Your track ‘Along Came Polly’ landed the #1 spot on Beatport! Did things change for your career after that happened? Yeah, things went mental after that, but even before the track came out I had a full Irish / UK tour lined up. It’s crazy – the track just really struck a chord with people and its completely changed my life. It’s also been an excellent motivator for me, and I’m really happy to have found my own little sound from it. Thanks, Jamie Jones!

You’ve released music on Hot Creations, Saved, and DFTD. Are there any labels you’d love to collaborate with in the future? I love all those labels and would be happy to keep putting music on there. I’m currently working with Adam Beyer on a few things. I put an EP out on his Truesoul label last month, and generally find myself gravitating a bit more in the techno realm lately, so I guess id love to collaborate with those types of labels. Sven Vath has been playing some of my tunes lately and I’m a huge fan of him and Cocoon so I’d love to do something with him one day too!

What advice would you give to artists who’ve been producing forever but can’t really get their foot in the door and crack into the industry? Do something different, that’s what I did and it really paid off. We’ve already got a Carl Cox in the world, Jamie Jones is already killing it and we don’t need clones of them, but what we do need is fresh new talent that isn’t afraid to try something outside the box even if it takes a while to stick. When I started putting out the rebuke/rave EPs (90’s rave reconstructions) we were still in a time where trance became trendy again so nobody really took to it. Then one or two of the remixes kicked off and now everyone’s playing rave tunes in their sets. The same has happened with ‘Along Came Polly’ and ‘ The Pipe ’.

Nearly six albums into her career, Carpenter made Hot 100 history with her new single “Please Please Please” debuting at No. 2, and “Espresso” rising to a new peak of No. 3 on the list. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter became the first solo act in the history of the Billboard chart to land two simultaneous top-three hits without having previously charted in that realm.

“Please Please Please” was completed by a cinematic music video starring “Saltburn” star and Carpenter’s real-life boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. The song was co-written with Amy Allen, who also helped pen “Espresso.”

The singles will appear on her new album, “Short n’ Sweet,” due out Aug. 23. “This project is quite special to me and [I] hope it’ll be something special to you too,” she wrote on social media with the announcement. Half of the LP was produced by Jack Antonoff, along with returning collaborator, Julian Bunetta, as reported by Rolling Stone.

Carpenter released her fifth album “Emails I Can’t Send” in 2022 , as well as its deluxe edition “Emails I Can’t Send Fwd” the following year. It became her highest-charting to date and boasted a hot single “Nonsense,” a song that caught fire after she provided alternate closing lyrics while opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in South America and Australia. She also toured the album on her own 80-date headlining world tour.

Belgium, Romania and Slovakia qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2024 on Wednesday as war-torn Ukraine were left heartbroken by a thrilling end to Group E.

Romania's 1-1 draw with Slovakia in Frankfurt secured the point both nations needed to progress, while Ukraine's brave effort in a 0-0 draw with Belgium was not enough.

All four sides ended the section on four points, but Ukraine paid for their 3-0 defeat to Romania in their opening game as they finished bottom of the group on goal difference.

Belgium could be made to pay for making a meal of a group they were expected to cruise as Domenico Tedesco's men will face France in the last 16 after finishing second.

Slovakia advance as one of the best third-placed sides and will find out their last 16 opponents, along with Romania, after Wednesday's final matches in Group F.

Belgium's mix of veteran talent and rising stars are just one of a host of favoured sides yet to hit their stride in Germany.

Their support reacted furiously at the final whistle in Stuttgart, with captain Kevin De Bruyne appearing to tell his team-mates not to go over to acknowledge them as the whistles and jeers grew louder.

Ukraine became the first side since the expansion of the Euros to 24 teams to fail to get out of the group stage with four points.

It was a tale of what might have been for Serhiy Rebrov's men as Belgium goalkeeper Koen Casteels prevented a corner from crossing the line by centimetres before denying Georgiy Sudakov a memorable winner in stoppage time.

However, in stark contrast to Belgium's rebuke, the Ukrainians were still handed a hero's reception at the end by their band of supporters.

"A strong nation is one that remains united and supports each other at all times. Both in times of defeat and in times of victory," wrote Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram.

"Today we thank the Ukrainian national football team. Despite the disappointing result, you fought for our country... Glory to Ukraine!"

In Frankfurt, Romania ensured progress to the knockout stages of a Euros for the first time in 24 years after coming from behind to take a point.

Slovakia went in front on 24 minutes when Ondrej Duda powered home a header.

The lead only lasted 13 minutes as Ianis Hagi, son of former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Gheorghe Hagi, won a penalty that was emphatically converted by Razvan Marin.

- Two places left in last 16 -

Only two places in the knockout stages are still up for grabs.

Portugal are already through as Group F winners, but all of Turkey, the Czech Republic and Georgia, on their major tournament debut, can join them.

Turkey just need a point against the Czechs to progress in second place.

The Czech Republic and Georgia need to win to advance either in second or as one of the best four third-placed sides.

Should they both fail to win, Hungary will claim the final place in the last 16.

England will also be keeping a close eye as anything other than a Georgia or Czech win will see them meet the Netherlands in the last 16.

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez made eight changes to his side but Cristiano Ronaldo does start as he aims to overtake former Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric as the oldest goalscorer in European Championship history.

After captivating audiences supporting Bring Me The Horizon and Sleep Token in sold out arenas across Australia in April, Perth metalcore outfit MAKE THEM SUFFER are set to wow audiences on home soil once again in 2024 with their highly anticipated Suffer Forever Australian headline tour this coming August and September, joined by friends BURY TOMORROW (UK), SPITE (USA) & BLOOM .

“ Following our European festival circuit, an amazing North American tour and of a life changing Australian tour in support of Bring Me The Horizon, we’ve been aching to follow up all these incredible opportunities with a headliner of our own. We can’t wait wait to bring our live show back home for all fans, new and old, and we can’t wait to take things to the next level .” - Sean Harmanis, Make Them Suffer

Following on with new material in 2023, MAKE THEM SUFFER unleashed the vibrant and voracious track Ghost Of Me, with the group also appearing the same year supporting fellow Aussie juggernauts Parkway Drive in North America as part of the Monsters Of Oz Tour. And while 2024 has certainly not been quiet for MAKE THEM SUFFER, with a recent almost entirely sold out run supporting Bring Me The Horizon nationally along with Sleep Token and Daine, MAKE THEM SUFFER have also continued their ongoing sonic domination via their potent new 2024 release Epitaph; a single that dazzles in sharp, primal energy and gloss that also celebrates and welds the towering past, present and future in the dynamic MAKE THEM SUFFER legacy.

British metalcore giants BURY TOMORROW return after crushing Australian audiences on their first sold out Australian headline tour in 2023 supporting their seventh album, The Seventh Sun. The Seventh Sun stands as testament to the bonds and belief required to shape themselves a new reality, a new sound, and a new future expanding sonic palette platforms sky-high melodies, layered with textured atmosphere, cloaking an underlying savagery.

SPITE, the decibel- and soul-crushing deathcore unit based out of Southern California, return to Australia with their lethal blend of death metal, metalcore, and neo-nu-metal after decimating Australian audiences on their debut shows supporting Thy Art Is Murder in 2022. Their 2017 release Nothing Is Beautiful on Rise Records drew comparisons to contemporaries like Thy Art Is Murder, Acacia Strain, and Suicide Silence. SPITE push against the boundaries of heavy music.   Sydney metalcore outfit BLOOM combine ferocity and impassioned lyricism, with their immersive catalogue centered on grief, love and exile. Releasing their brand new album Maybe In Another Life earlier this year, BLOOM flexed surging rhythms and memorable hooks, unforgettably snapshotting the group's burgeoning strengths that has also led them to a massive regional tour supporting Polaris and national tours supporting the likes of While She Sleeps, ERRA and Bad Omens.

Azealia Banks Tour Promoters Rebuke Artist’s “Disgraceful” Tour Behaviour

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Azealia Banks ’ beleaguered Australian tour has reached its predictable close as promoters  Bizarro  label her behaviour on tour as “disgraceful”. The saga, which we first wrote about  here , included a cancelled show in Brisbane, a rescheduled show in Melbourne, visa issues and missed flights, all of which were punctuated by Banks’ belligerent social media posts.

Bizarro detailed their experience of working with Banks and her team in a long statement, printed in full on  The Music .

Azealia Banks – ‘212’

According to the statement, the promoters put in “hours of desperate work” to make shows go ahead with an artist who was seemingly doing her best to sabotage them. Pulling no punches, they cited “[Banks’] willingness to burn down every show of the run”, her “lack of care and appreciation for her fans” and refuted her claims that she had not been paid.

The artist’s 2011 breakthrough hit ‘212’ is considered one of the best songs of all time according to  Rolling Stone , and was placed sixth in Pitchfork’s  best songs of the 2010s . In recent years, however, Banks has more often been in the news because of her  controversial views and social media stoushes .

While the pile on continues, one may wonder whether, given Banks’ colourful history, Bizarro and Point Productions were really all that wise in trying to capitalise on her infamy in the first place.

Falling In Reverse Announce Australian ‘Count Rockula’ Tour

  • Written by Staff

Share This:

rebuke australia tour

One of the most talked about, controversial and adored rock bands of our time, Falling In Reverse are bringing their Count Rockula Tour to Australia in October. This will be the band’s first visit back to Australia since early 2015 and their first ever headline tour.

Loved, hated, ridiculed, admired, Falling In Reverse frontman  Ronnie Radke  is a rare rock n’ roll provocateur whose unpredictability and reckless honesty make him equal parts hero and villain, depending on whom you ask.  Radke puts it all on the line, take it or leave it, each and every time he and his band do anything.

In 2014, only Motörhead legend Lemmy edged out Radke on Kerrang!’s list of the 50 Greatest Living Rockstars in the World, a line-up that included the likes of Slash, Steven Tyler and Ozzy Osbourne .
