Skillet, formed in 1996, are an American Christian rock band hailing from Memphis, Tennessee. The band were tanked in the Hardest Working Bands of 2011 due to their intense touring schedule.

The band, consisting of the married couple John and Korey Cooper, lead vocals, bass, and rhythm guitar, keys, and backing vocals respectively, have sold well over 2million albums in the US. Their other band members, Seth Morrison and Jen Ledger fill in the sound with drums, vocals, and lead guitar. With eight studio albums under their belt, the band have been nominated for several awards, including Grammy nominations, and their album Awake placed at number 2 on the Billboard 200 as it entered the chart, and their album Comatose was certified Gold.

Although the band have been through several line up changes, they have remained consistent and haven’t slowed their intense touring schedule. Band members Cooper and Sterots who formed the original line up met through tours with their own bands and began collaborating before forming the first generation of Skillet. Over the years, throughout the changes, the bands sound has developed and evolved, but maintains their original undertones, never straying from their Christian rock vibe and message.

The crossover of Christian music and rock makes the sound accessible to the masses, and has gained the band much credibility and critical acclaim over the years. As well as headlining their own tours, the band have toured alongside other artists such as Three Days Grace and Seether.

Live reviews

Ever been to a Skillet concert?

I have!!!! Last year at Soulfest 2013 the last night my friend Kim and I went and I have to say I loved it and enjoyed their energy. Playing under the stars in Gilford New Hampshire they were on fire. There were 10,000 screaming people there, people even brought skillets!!!!! They have excellent pyro they set off during their songs but that is not all, they reach people who believe in God and who might be struggling with their belief. Some of the songs they sang off their new album called Rise were American Noise, and Sick of it. American Noise was my favorite song because they set off fireworks over the stage. Some of the other songs they played were awake and alive and rebirthing which they also used pyro for, but their main focus isn't about setting off pyro every night or how good it looks, it is about God and reaching people of all ages. Skillet has eight albums out, two of them receiving Grammy nominations. They were formed in Memphis Tennessee. If you have not been to a Skillet concert then I recommend you go to one and enjoy the show! I did.

Skillet was amazing. They featured a surprisingly intense guitar playing, and their addition of violin and cello was awesome. They opened up with 'Hero' (my fave song) and closed with another great hit. They were the first band I ever saw to use pyrotechnics, which was impressive. I was not as big of a fan of the proselytizing between songs, or the slower songs in the middle of the set, as their singer really can't sing melodic songs that well (which he admits) not that it stops him. I'd enjoy them more on a non-religious bill (like maybe Uproar Fest) more since hearing preaching was a waste of my time as a non-religious fan of their music.

The band has so much energy and power.

It’s firework on stage!! You can’t miss the frontman!!! Nice interactions with all the people. The band is a must see. Big compliments to the female drummer. She is fantastic!!! Any chance they might wanna perform in Metropool at Hengelo Ov.

Went to the show not really having any expectations but left impressed. The band had great energy on stage and the flowed through to the crowd. During songs like Monster the whole floor was jumping, which from the balcony was really cool to watch.

Also, first show at the venue and was really impressed. Nice intimate venue where you can get a good view of the stage from almost anywhere.

All in all a great show in a great venue, would definitely do it again and recommend it to others.

Skillet sounded amazing live! They played good songs, introduced me to some of their songs I'd never heard before, and performed a lot of old favorites as well. I loved the songs with the cello and piano in them, that was a creative idea on their part. John, Korey, Jen, and Seth are extremely talented people and I'm glad I got to go see them perform live. I'll definitely go to one of their concerts again if I get the chance. :)

The group was great. Impressive energy and Good feeling with the audience. The organisation was the worst I have seen. Only one entry with 3 people.1to check the ticket and 2 for security check. Which resulted in an never-ending queue. Inside no place for children So if you want to bring your child to a concert don't go there. And in the end the people there were very unfriendly. That was my last concert there.

I have never seen Skillet live before. I have listened to their music for years so I was hoping that they would be good, but instead they were great, exciting and put on a very amazing and energetic show! I hope to see them again many more times in concert. Everyone in the group sounds and plays just like they do on their records, nobody has lost their original voice or instrumental talent.

I saw Skillet on the Carnival of Madness tour in 2013 and they did an amazing job! It's hard to compete with performances from Papa Roach and Shinedown, but Skillet made all panheads proud with their performance! Elevating platforms with a screen that played their music videos in the background! Plus the violinists looked awesome! I am looking forward to my next Skillet concert now!

SKILLET Announces Winter 2020 North American Tour With FROM ASHES TO NEW And LEDGER

SKILLET will return to the road in North America this winter in support of its tenth album, "Victorious" , out now. The band's headline trek will kick off on February 6 in Wichita, Kansas and run through March 14 in Norfolk, Virginia. Support on the tour will come from FROM ASHES TO NEW and LEDGER , the latter of which features SKILLET drummer Jen Ledger . SKILLET is fresh off back-to-back fall 2019 co-headline North American tours with SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE , respectively. The band just wrapped a sold-out headline tour of Europe as well.

"The whole band is excited to play new music and meet with the fans on the 'Victorious' tour," says SKILLET frontman John Cooper . "There's something about going out on tour, connecting with fans, and having enough time to play everyone's favorite song — whether it's from the new album or hits from the 'Collide' or 'Awake' days. We wanted this tour to be very fan-focused so we went to our fans to build out the set list and added two VIP experiences, a Q&A, and a M&G, so there's something for everyone."

He continues: "The support on this tour is unreal. We reconnected with FROM ASHES TO NEW at a festival this summer and I knew we had to have them out on the road. I'm also stoked to have LEDGER back out and to introduce the band to SKILLET fans who haven't seen her rock live yet. This tour is going to be insane and we're ready for it."

All upcoming dates are below. The pre-sale is set for Tuesday, December 3 at noon EST. The public on-sale is slated for Friday, December 6 at 10 a.m. local time. SKILLET will be offering two VIP presale packages, including a Q&A Experience with exclusive SKILLET merchandise and a limited number of M&G Experiences available at www.skillet.com/tour with the presale password "VICTORIOUS."

In other SKILLET news, the band is celebrating its tenth Top 10 Active Rock single with "Legendary" . In addition to the track being tapped as the official theme song for WWE 's "Raw" on USA network, the WWE also used the song as the trailer for the "2K20" video game. The NBA , NCA and MLB have also featured the energetic track.

*No Dirty Honey ABOUT SKILLET: One of the best-selling rock bands of the 21 st  century, two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum Wisconsin quartet Skillet—John Cooper [lead vocals/bass], Korey Cooper [guitar/keys], Jen Ledger [drums/vocals], and Seth Morrison [lead guitar]—write the soundtrack to triumph. An undying spirit humbly asserted and affirmed the band as one of this generation’s most successful rock acts. However, as all classic underdog stories do, it happened quietly under the radar. By 2019, they not only garnered a pair of GRAMMY® Award nods and sold over 12 million albums worldwide, but they also took home a  Billboard Music Award  for the double-platinum  Awake  and were welcomed into Pandora’s Billionaires club after clocking over 2 billion streams. Its breakout single “Monster” remains  “one of the most-streamed rock songs of all-time”  with 285 global audio streams. 2016’s  Unleashed  bowed at #3 on the  Billboard  Top 200. Going #1 on Rock Radio, the lead single “Feel Invincible” cracked 150 million global audio streams and went platinum. Meanwhile, the gold-certified  Unleashed  became their fourth consecutive album to receive either a gold, platinum, or double-platinum. To date, nine original tunes earned RIAA recognition in tandem with high-profile syncs by everyone from WWE and Marvel to ESPN and NFL. Between selling out arenas on four continents, the group performed on  CONAN  and graced the pages of  USA Today  and  New York Times , to name a few. In 2018 alone, the band clocked 1 billion streams. This momentum continues on their 2019 tenth full-length,  Victorious . With the bulk produced by Korey and John, it lives up to its name for Skillet as their most triumphant body of work yet. ABOUT ALTER BRIDGE: Alter Bridge  burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut,  One Day Remains.  In 2007, the band released  Blackbird , the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track “Blackbird” was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine.  ABIII  was released in 2010 and the single “Isolation” gave the band their first #1 single. In 2013, the band reached an elevated creative and critical plateau with  Fortress . It bowed at #12 on the  Billboard  Top 200, moving over 30,000 copies first-week and earning unanimous tastemaker praise. The record garnered perfect scores from  Total Guitar  and  KERRANG!  as well as acclaim from  Billboard ,  The Guardian ,  Loudwire ,  Ultimate Guitar , and many more. In between sold out tours in Europe and North America, the guys appeared on VH1 and graced the cover of  Classic Rock Magazine  who labeled  Fortress , “The best thing they’ve ever done,” while Eddie Trunk called it, “A top 10 album of the last 10 years.” 2016’s  The Last Hero  gave the band their first Top 10 album since their debut. Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has been used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few. The band recently released the video and audio of their career highlight,  Live At The Royal Albert Hall,  featuring  Alter Bridge  backed by the 52-piece Parallax Orchestra led by conductor Simon Dobson.
