Difference between Core Area and Buffer Area

This is one of the most frequently asked questions by people want to book a Jungle safari in the famous Tadoba Tiger reserve.

A clear and precise answer to this question is that “Core” and “buffer” are two different zones within the Tadoba National Park where tourists can undertake safari experiences. The Core zone is a highly protected area where no one can enter without forest department’s permission. In contrast, the Buffer Zone is an area where villagers can enter for collecting forest produce for their live hood. So animals and villagers coexist in buffer zone, promoting conservation through tourism. While both core and buffer safari provide equal chances of sighting tiger, the buffer zone allows for a more diverse experience, including interactions with local communities and a variety of wildlife sightings. Here’s a breakdown of the differences between the two:

    Core Safari:

  • Core safari zones are the center of the national park where wildlife is naturally protected from human encroachment.
  • These zones are typically more restricted in terms of visitor numbers and vehicle movement to minimize disturbances to the wildlife.
  • The core zones often include prime habitats for wildlife such as water bodies, dense forest areas, and open grasslands.
  • The number of gates and safaris are limited in core zone. We need to book core safari well in advance.

    Buffer Safari:

  • Buffer safari zones are peripheral areas surrounding the core zones of the national park.
  • These zones are typically less regulated in terms of visitor numbers and vehicle movement compared to the core zones.
  • Most of the water bodies are created by forest department for providing water to wild animals. Hence there is good chance to spot tigers near water bodies during summer.
  • Entry into buffer safari zones is easily accessible and permits easier to obtain compared to the core zones.

In summary, the main differences between core safari and buffer safari is forest area development activities, protection of wildlife and visitor regulations, however overall safari experience is same for the tourists and equal chance of spotting iconic wildlife species such as tigers, leopards, sloth bears and various species of deer and birds.

Tadoba safari booking website operator gets relief as HC stays termination

tadoba safari booking news today

Nagpur : A fresh turn of events has emerged in the ongoing conflict between Tadoba management and the online safari booking firm, Wild Connectivity Solutions (WCS), which operates the safari booking website for the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR).

Justice Anil S Kilor of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has intervened by staying the termination of WCS, providing a temporary respite to the private firm.

The service-level agreement between TATR and WCS was established on December 10, 2021, for a period of five years. The agreement facilitated the online booking of safari tickets for the tiger reserve. However, amidst allegations of malpractices, numerous complaints from stakeholders, and ensuing disputes, the TATR management took the decision to terminate the agreement on August 3, 2023.

In response to the termination, Abhishek Vinodsingh Thakur, a partner of WCS, approached the Principal District Judge, Chandrapur, seeking an interim injunction under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. Thakur asserted that he had been handling safari bookings for TATR and questioned the abrupt termination. However, the court issued a notice to the concerned TATR officials, scheduling a returnable date of August 17 for further proceedings. This left the firm without immediate relief.

Subsequently, Thakur, represented by counsel MP Khajanchi, moved the Bombay High Court, arguing that the service level agreement signed between WCS and TATR encompassed a five-year duration. While the agreement included a clause for appointing an arbitrator in case of disputes, TATR bypassed this and directly terminated the agreement.

Thakur contended that the agreement lacked a termination clause, and no prior show-cause notice had been issued before the termination. The High Court acknowledged these arguments and directed the Principal District Judge, Chandrapur, to thoroughly examine the application under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act and make an appropriate decision.

In the interim, the High Court issued a stay on the termination letter of the service-level agreement dated August 3, 2023, by TATR management. This move grants WCS a temporary reprieve while the legal proceedings unfold. The High Court emphasized the need for due process and adherence to the law in resolving the dispute between the parties.

Temple of Taru In Tadoba

Tadoba and the vicinity were once ruled by the Gond kings who used these forests as hunting grounds until it was banned in 1935. In 1955, 116.54 sq km of the forest was declared Tadoba National Park.

The folklore says that TARU was the chief of the village who is believed to be killed in the tiger conflict.

The temple of God TARU still exists beside the picturesque Tadoba Lake under a huge tree.

Earlier, there used to be a fair in the Hindu month of Pausha i.e between December and January, when the tribes used to gather at the temple. At present, the fair is restricted.

Andhari region, named after the river ‘Andhari’, a minor river of Wainganga basin, meandering through the area, the river passes through Tadoba, Mohurli & Kolsa.

In the year 1995, Tadoba National Park and Andhari Tiger Reserve were subsequently integrated and declared as Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) which comprises of Tadoba and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary.

Today it is one of the Project Tiger Reserves Existing in India.

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is the biggest and oldest tiger reserve in Maharashtra comprising an area of about 625 sq.km. of the core zone.

Black plum trees grow in the riparian habitat around the lake.  One can be easily mesmerized by huge Arjun trees that are seen at the Panchadhara waterhole.

Grass and Bamboo can be  found in abundance throughout the reserve. The climber Kach Kujali (velvet bean) found here is a medicinal plant used to treat Parkinson’s disease.

The leaves of Bheria are used as an insect repellent and Bija is a medicinal gum.

Weather and Climate of Tadoba

After the scorching summers where the mercury rises up to 48 degrees, the arrival of the monsoon in June is a big relief. Though the climate becomes highly humid, the rains do not fail to revive the jungle.

As the rains make the terrain inaccessible the core zones of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are closed between July and September and only the buffer zone is open for tourists. The visit to Tadoba National Park in the monsoon is sheer bliss where you can witness a completely different Tadoba.

Winter is the ideal time to explore Tadoba with lush greenery around. Starting from October winter lasts till February. Though the winters are not very cool in Tadoba the temperature ranges between 20°C and 30°C.

Beginning this month, Apple Vision Pro is also coming to more countries and regions, including China mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and next month will come to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K.

Apple Intelligence harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from users’ personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks. A cornerstone of Apple Intelligence is on-device processing, which delivers personal intelligence without collecting users’ data. Private Cloud Compute sets a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing, and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers.

With iOS 18 , users will now be able to arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center. With the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, photo libraries are automatically organized in a new single view in Photos, and helpful new collections keep favorites easily accessible. All-new text effects come to iMessage, amplifying any letter, word, phrase, or emoji with dynamic, animated appearances to bring conversations to life. Users can also now communicate over satellite in the Messages app, even when a cellular or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available.

With iPadOS 18 , the iPad experience is more versatile and intelligent than ever with new features and apps designed for Apple Pencil. The Calculator app comes to iPad with Math Notes, which allows users to type or write out mathematical expressions and see them instantly solved in their own handwriting. New handwriting tools in Notes including Smart Script make handwritten notes more fluid, flexible, and easier to read.

With macOS Sequoia , Continuity between iPhone and Mac gets better than ever with iPhone Mirroring, enabling full access to and control of iPhone directly from Mac. Safari gets another big update with the new Highlights feature for effortless information discovery on webpages while browsing. Gaming is even more immersive with Personalized Spatial Audio that puts players in the middle of the action like never before. And Apple Intelligence unlocks new ways for Mac users to enhance their writing and communicate more effectively, create playful images in seconds, and more. Apple Intelligence takes full advantage of the power of Apple silicon and its Neural Engine, and will be supported by every Mac with an M-series chip.

watchOS 11 offers breakthrough insights into users’ health and fitness, and more personalization than ever. The new Vitals app surfaces key health metrics and context, the ability to measure training load offers a game-changing new experience when working out, and the popular Activity rings are even more customizable. The Smart Stack and Photos face use intelligence to feature more individualization, and Apple Watch and the Health app on iPhone and iPad offer additional support for users who are pregnant. Check In, the Translate app, and new capabilities for the double tap gesture come to Apple Watch for added connectivity and convenience.

Just months after its initial release, visionOS 2 brings powerful spatial computing experiences to Apple Vision Pro, including new ways for users to create spatial photos with the images already in their library, intuitive hand gestures to easily access important information at a glance, and new features for Mac Virtual Display, Travel Mode, and Guest User. visionOS 2 also introduces exciting new capabilities like Follow Your Breathing in the Mindfulness app, SharePlay for Photos, and multiview in the TV app.

With tvOS 18 , intelligent new features like InSight — and updates to Enhance Dialogue and subtitles — level up cinematic experiences, while new Apple Fitness+, Apple Music, and FaceTime capabilities get even better on users’ biggest screen. The Home app gains new features with iOS 18, like guest access and hands-free unlock with home keys, delivering effortless and secure access to the home. AirPods software updates will transform the way users respond to Siri with new gestures, take calls with friends and loved ones, and immerse themselves in their favorite games.
