Initially set for July 2023, Madonna had to postpone the Celebration Tour in June after getting hospitalized due to a bacterial infection. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” Madonna shared in a statement online in July. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

During her first week of the Celebration Tour at a stop in Antwerp, Belgium, Madonna took a minute to address her recent hospitalization. “Less than four months ago, I was in a hospital and I was unconscious, and people were thinking, predicting that I might not make it,” Madonna told fans at Belgium’s Sportpaleis Arena. “So, it’s a fucking miracle that I’m here right now. My mother, God bless her, she must be watching over me — she said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time to go.'”

Madonna also recently spoke about the “near-death experience” during her Los Angeles concert in March, even addressing her doctor who was in the audience and the first words she said after getting out of her coma .

The icon later told the audience, including this writer, at the Forum, “I’m pretty sure that God was saying to me, ‘You want to come with? You want to come with us, wanna go this way?’ And I said, ‘No!'”

After the massive demand for the 2023 dates, Madonna added several additional stops to the Celebration Tour, which included shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York. Last March, Madonna also announced eight new U.S. dates to the Celebration Tour , with concerts in Washington, D.C., Palm Springs, San Francisco, Vegas, and Nashville, Tennessee, with a portion of proceeds from the show supporting trans-rights organizations.

“The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color,” Madonna shared in a statement on Instagram. “Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.”

With dates scheduled throughout April 2024, Madonna will continue to travel all across the United States for the Celebration Tour , including stops in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Austin.

Madonna’s tour features some of the legend’s most iconic songs and moments throughout her career.

“Four decades … as in, 40 years” Madonna replies. “As in, all those songs?”

At a recent stop at the Kia Forum in L.A., Madonna’s set list also included “Holiday” from her self-titled debut to the disco anthem “Hung Up” from 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor to the title track from 1998’s Ray of Light — there’s no shortage of Madonna’s greatest songs to choose from.

Madonna announces 2023 tour that will celebrate her greatest hits

Madonna is getting ready to "express herself" all over again with her latest global tour.

NEW YORK — Madonna will "Take a Bow" with a new tour through North America and Europe starting this summer that will be a "Celebration" of the pop icon’s hits, which include 38 songs in the Billboard Hot 100.

The artist, 64, announced the tour Tuesday with a  star-studded video that nodded to her 1991 film "Truth or Dare" with a roundtable featuring Diplo, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Bob The Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Eric Andre and Amy Schumer as the group plays a NSFW version of truth or dare.

"Madonna, I dare you to do a world tour and play your greatest (expletive) hits," Schumer challenges.

"Four decades? As in 40 years? As in all those songs?" Madonna replies. "That's a lot of songs. You think people would come to that show?"

Review: Madonna's 'Madame X' concert film is compelling and confounding

What music is Madonna performing during her tour?

The singer will "be highlighting her unmatched catalog of music from the past 40-plus years," according to the announcement. It will also "pay respect to the city of New York, where her career in music began."

"I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for," Madonna says in the announcement.

Some of Madonna’s Hot 100 hits include "Vogue," "Music," "Crazy For You," "Like a Virgin," "Like a Prayer," "Justify My Love," "Live to Tell" and "Papa Don’t Preach."

Madonna covers Vanity Fair 'Icons Issue'

Vanity Fair Italy, France and Spain teamed up for a joint " Icons Issue " featuring Madonna on the cover in honor of her Celebration Tour. When asked about how much her provocative and highly criticized career has cost her, the pop star said she "could answer several billion" dollars , but "the thing it’s cost me the most is loss of sleep and maybe less time spent with people I love – also peace of mind. But I feel that it is a necessary part of the journey I am on and it’s a price I have accepted."

Madonna has pushed boundaries throughout her career, but it's simply reflective of her environment. Vanity Fair Italy called her a pioneer of inclusivity and she seemed resistant to accepting the label. "I am not really sure what it means to say I was one of the first," she said. "The people who supported me were largely members of the LGBTQ+ community and of different ethnicities. That was my support system, so why wouldn’t I in turn support and champion them?"

Madonna discusses her relationship with religion

Madonna's persona and stage name is based on Catholic figure The Madonna or The Virgin Mary, a choice that has been met with backlash since the start of her career. Although she was raised Catholic, she told Vanity Fair that she's never taken criticism to heart. "I thought if the Catholic Church did not perceive my work as an artist as doing something good, then that was their problem and an extension of their narrow mindedness and inability to see that anything that brings people together," Madonna said.

Today, Madonna is "not subscribing to religious groups that are exclusive of others or extremist in any shape," but she does "think it’s important to have ritualistic behavior and a spiritual life."

"My relationship with religion is that I remain very involved in my own spiritual practice and I think it’s imperative for everyone to have a spiritual practice – but I am not defining that for other people," the singer added.

What To Expect From Madonna’s The Celebration Tour In 2023

The singer announced new North American dates after postponing the start of her tour due to her June hospitalization.

Madonna's 2023 Celebration Tour: Dates, Tickets, Presale, & Teaser Video

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour isn’t the only greatest hits tour you’ll have to spend money on this year. On Jan. 17, Madonna announced she would be hitting the road for The Celebration Tour, her first greatest hits outing, to celebrate her 40th anniversary as the Queen of Pop . The tour will mark Madge’s first major trek since 2015 and her first tour overall since her Madame X Tour in 2019 (during which she performed only in small theaters).

However, her tour won’t be kicking off right on time. According to a statement shared on Instagram by her manager Guy Oseary, the singer experienced some health issues that resulted in hospitalization. “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” he wrote on June 28. “Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.” On June 29, CNN reported that Madonna had left the hospital and was “in the clear.”

The seven-time Grammy winner issued a statement on July 10 , confirming that she is “on the road to recovery” and the tour will “begin in October” in Europe. “I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets,” she wrote on Instagram. “The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour ... I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.” Rescheduled dates were announced on Aug. 15. The Celebration Tour will now kick off on Oct. 14 in London and hit Europe as scheduled through December, before the North American leg begins on Dec. 13 in Brooklyn and runs through April 2024.

On The Celebration Tour, Madonna promises to perform hits from her four decades as an artist, from the ’80s cheer of “Holiday” to more recent hits like “Medellín.” “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement. The singer will have a tough time condensing 40 years of hits into one setlist, but if the new tour teaser video is any indication, then classics like “Like A Virgin,” “Open Your Heart,” and “La Isla Bonita” are sure to be included. Read on for everything you need to know about The Celebration Tour.

Madonna’s 2023 Celebration Tour Dates

Tickets for previously scheduled shows will be honored for the new dates, except for a few shows with venue changes. Fans with tickets to the Aug. 27 date at New York’s Madison Square Garden will receive a code to purchase new tickets to her Dec. 16 show at Barclays Center, while ticketholders for her September shows at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena will get a code for tickets to her rescheduled dates at Kia Forum in March 2024. Additionally, previously planned shows on July 27 in Tulsa, Dec. 22 in Nashville, Jan. 15 in San Francisco, Jan. 18 in Las Vegas, and Jan. 20 in Phoenix had to be canceled due to “scheduling conflicts.” Read the full updated itinerary below.

Madonna’s 2023 Celebration Tour Teaser

To announce the tour, Madonna enlisted A-list stars and friends — including Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Eric Andre, and tour opener Bob the Drag Queen — for a very rowdy dinner party. The singer played a game of Truth or Dare, in honor of her 1992 documentary, during which she made out with Black and had Diplo stick his privates in a margarita, among other typical Monday night antics.

The video ends with Schumer, who opened for Madonna’s 2015 Rebel Heart Tour shows in New York, daring her to “do a world tour and play your greatest motherf*cking hits.” Naturally, after her guests promised to attend, Madge responded with a “F*ck yeah.”

Madonna’s 2023 Celebration Tour Tickets

Tickets for Madonna’s Celebration Tour will go on sale on Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. local time, depending on the city. For all U.S. shows, Citi cardholders will have access to a special presale that begins on either Jan. 17, for shows that go on sale Jan. 20, or Jan. 24, for shows that go on sale on Jan. 27. Fans who have a legacy membership to Madonna’s former Icon fan club, meaning those who were members all the way back in 2006, also have their own dedicated presale that will begin even before the Citi presales. VIP packages will also be available, which include top-tier seats, a Madonna-themed pre-party, and a backstage tour of the entire production.

Madonna rocks out onstage with her guitar in hand.

It’s officially time to “get into the groove.”

11 months (!) and one major health scare after announcing her 2023 ‘Celebration Tour,’ Madonna is finally playing North American venues.

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 13, The Material Girl will take off on the U.S. leg of her long awaited international jaunt.

First up, she’ll kick off the tour with a trio of back-to-back-to-back gigs at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Dec. 13 , 14 and 16 .

The following month, the “Papa Don’t Preach” pop star will swoop into New York City’s Madison Square Garden for a three concert mini-residency on Jan. 22 , 23 and 29 .

And for those wondering, yes, she’s still got chops.

After the first show of the career showing ‘Celebration Tour’ in London, Madge shared an Instagram clip showing off her impressive vocal range.

Want to see her live?

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $44 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows on the run start anywhere from $57 to $355 before fees.

Madonna opening act

On the “Celebration Tour” run, Madonna has tapped famed drag queen, comedian, actor, activist, musician, and reality TV personality Bob The Drag Queen to serve as her opening act.

Not familiar with Bob?

Well, you may want to start with her rise to prominence on the eighth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2016 where she was crowned the winner.

In the years since, you may have seen Bob in “High Maintenance” (2016), “Tales of the City” (2019), “A Black Lady Sketch Show” (2019) and the 2020 series “We’re Here,” which she co-hosted.

Of course, Bob sings too.

Her single “Purse First” charted at number 43 on the U.S. Dance charts.

Madonna tour postponement

The ‘Celebration Tour’ was originally set to get underway in Canada this past July.

However, Madonna was hospitalized in June after developing a series of bacterial infections.

After a month of care, she took to  Instagram  to share an update on her recovery.

“My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can!”

Madonna sued for "pornography without warning" and for "deceptively" marketing her world tour

This is the second lawsuit leveled at the singer for her celebration world tour, by nardos haile.

Madonna 's Celebration world tour is at the center of yet another controversy.

According to People Magazine , in a class action lawsuit filed on Thursday, the singer is being sued by a fan who said Madonna subjected concertgoers to watch "pornography without warning." They are alleging claims of negligent misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of contract and false advertising.

Moreover, the lawsuit claimed that during Madonna's March 7 concert in Los Angeles, there were "topless women on stage simulating sex acts," while detailing a concertgoing experience that was "hot" and "uncomfortable" due to the lack of air conditioning. The fan alleged that Madonna ordered the air conditioning to be turned off, and as a result of no air conditioning, he says he became physically ill because of the heat, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Throughout her career, Madonna has cultivated a sex-positivite persona. Her shows have included erotic dancing, suggestive touching and lap dances that would include singers such as Maluma and Ricky Martin, People said. Alongside Madonna, the plaintiff also has also named the entertainment company, Live Nation, owner of Ticketmaster for luring concertgoers into purchasing  "expensive tickets" and “purposely and deceptively” concealing information about the singer's show not starting on time as it was marketed.

The complaint stated that the show was marketed to start at 8:30 p.m. but Madonna didn't take the stage until after 10 p.m. However, when the singer eventually appeared on stage, the lawsuit claimed she was lip-syncing even though the concertgoers had paid for a live experience and performance.

"Forcing consumers to wait hours in hot, uncomfortable arenas and subjecting them to pornography without warning is demonstrative of Madonna's flippant disrespect for her fans," the complaint said. Madonna and her legal team have not yet responded to multiple requests to comment.

Madonna's alleged tardiness is also the reason for a previous lawsuit filed against the singer in January . Two concertgoers at one of her New York tour dates accused the singer of "unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices" for beginning her show at 10:30 p.m. instead of the marketed time of 8:30 p.m. At the time, Madonna's representatives said the show's delay was due to technical difficulties.

We need your help to stay independent

Last month, Madonna's attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, stating that "no reasonable concertgoer — and certainly no Madonna fan — would expect the headline act at a major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time."

Madonna's alleged sexual performances and tardiness are not the only controversial moments during her Celebration tour. In March, the singer called out an audience member sitting down during her show. In a video recorded by a concertgoer, the singer was heard yelling from the stage, "What are you doing sitting down?" to suggest that audience members should be standing and or dancing. She realized her mistake when she looked at the audience member who was in a wheelchair.

The singer said on stage, “Oh, OK. Politically incorrect, sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here." However, Madonna's actions was met with backlash. Criticisms online stated that her comments were "pure ableism & glaring privilege."

When is Glastonbury, who’s on the lineup and can you still get tickets?

Coldplay, dua lipa and sza are headlining the pyramid stage at worthy farm this year, while shania twain will take on the coveted legends slot, article bookmarked.

Glastonbury, the world’s most famous music festival, returns this month and will see thousands of fans flocking to Worthy Farm in Somerset.

Co-organiser Emily Eavis and her team are preparing to welcome revellers to the site and play host to some of the biggest artists across pop, rock, indie, R&B, rap, punk and soul.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the big weekend.

When is Glastonbury 2024?

The gates to Glastonbury Festival 2024 will open at around 8am Wednesday 26 June, with the event running until Sunday 30 June. The majority of the live music performances take place between 29-30 June, with many of them also shown on TV.

A word of warning: there is no entertainment or facilities in the Glastonbury car parks, and guests are expected to remain in their cars until the festival gates open. Car parks will be open from 9pm on Tuesday 25 June, allowing festival-goers to avoid the worst of the traffic and arrive through the night.

Who’s playing Glastonbury this year?

Dua Lipa is headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2024

After months of speculation and rumours that several bookings had fallen through, this year’s festival will be headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA , while country-pop superstar Shania Twain will take on the Legends Slot.

It was rumoured that Madonna was a strong contender to headline, as Eavis has previously expressed her desire to have the pop icon play the Pyramid Stage. However, The Independent understands that negotiations collapsed due to various requirements from the “Hung Up” star’s team, including the estimated cost of putting on a show that would match her 2024 Celebration tour.

Other rumoured artists in the running were Stevie Nicks, Cher and Stevie Wonder.

Other artists on the lineup include Avril Lavigne, Cyndi Lauper, Little Simz, Seventeen, Idles, The Last Dinner Party, Camila Cabello, Burna Boy, London Grammar, PJ Harvey, Janelle Monae, Fat White Family, Sugababes, Fatboy Slim, Michael Kiwanuka, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, Jessie Ware and Paloma Faith.

Are there any Glastonbury 2024 tickets left and how much do they cost?

A reveller sings along as Lewis Capaldi performs on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2023

The Glastonbury resale took place in April and, due to typically high demand, sold out in just 22 minutes. The cost of getting into the 2024 festival was £360 per person including the booking fee, up from £340 last year.

Eavis justified the hike last year in a statement that said: “We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, while still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of Covid.”

Are there any other ways to get into Glastonbury festival?

Besides the general resale, another great way to get into Glastonbury is by volunteering. Registration to volunteer for charities WaterAid and Oxfam has closed, but spaces do occasionally become available if people drop out.

Greenpeace also offers free entry to the festival and three meals a day to volunteers. In return, you are expected to work a minimum of five eight-hour shifts during the festival between 25 June and 1 July. However, applications for 2024 are now also closed.

Madonna sued by her own fans who consider her Celebration Tour 2024 to be too explicit

Tour solidified Madonna's position at the pinnacle of the music world.

A fter being reaffirmed as the 'Queen of Pop' with her triumphant world tour, Madonna now faces a surprising lawsuit from her own fans.

Reports indicate that numerous concertgoers were offended by the extensive sexual content featured in her performances around the globe.

The controversy arose following the 'Celebration Tour,' which once again solidified Madonna 's position at the pinnacle of the music world.

Her live shows highlighted her legendary status and showcased the songs that have cemented her as an iconic figure. However, the complaints from fans have created unexpected trouble for Madonna , as it was initially believed that her performances received widespread approval and satisfaction.

Madonna faces lawsuit

It has been revealed that Madonna is now dealing with a lawsuit filed by a disgruntled fan. This individual expressed dissatisfaction with the explicit nature of her concert performances.

According to several reports, the fan criticized Madonna for delivering such provocative shows without prior warning.

They claimed they attended the concert expecting a celebration of her iconic songs and stunning choreography, but were instead confronted with excessive sexual content.

The fan alleges that Madonna misled them into purchasing tickets for concerts that were overly sexual in nature, describing some of the content as "pornographic" without proper notice.

This aspect of the 'Celebration Tour' was not well received by a segment of the audience, leading to the legal action.

It's important to note that Madonna 's successful world tour kicked off in October 2023, aiming to celebrate her 40-year illustrious career with her fans.

Despite being 66 years old, Madonna captivated her audience, delivering the greatest hits of her career in sold-out venues during The Celebration Tour.
