On April 5 and 6, the North Little Rock Animal Shelter will offer sterilization fees at prices of $40 for cats, $60 for non-bully breeds, and $80 for bully breeds.

Approved adopters will also be eligible to win giveaways at the event.

Shelters and rescue partners across 60 cities/towns and 37 states will be there to help participants find their new or next adoption at the mobile pet adoption event.

Randy Travis bringing ‘The More Life Tour’ to Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Legendary country music singer Randy Travis is going on tour, and he’ll be making a stop in Montgomery, Alabama.

Travis and the Original Randy Travis Band are back on stage for the “More Life Tour,” though guest singer James Dupré will be performing the vocals in Travis’ stead. Travis, Dupre, and the band will perform all 16 of Travis’s No. 1 hit songs.

Travis suffered a massive, near-fatal stroke in 2013, and while it did not take his life, it did take his voice . He’s been unable to sing or record new music ever since.

Despite this, Travis has still managed to release new songs. In 2021, he released a 35-year anniversary version of his debut album Storms of Life , which featured 3 never before heard tracks from his vault of unreleased music.

“The More Life Tour” comes to the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre on Sep. 15.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. and will be available for purchase here .

Celebrating five years of sobriety, this pga tour star offers up a heartfelt message, share this article.

PGA Tour golfer Chris Kirk gave a heartfelt message to Instagram followers on Monday as he reached five years of sobriety.

The former University of Georgia golfer battled alcohol issues after a successful beginning to his tour career and fell in the rankings until he decided to get help. He stepped away from the game on May 7, 2019, after becoming sober just over a week prior.

“Hey y’all, it’s April 29 and today I’m celebrating five years of sobriety,” Kirk said on the social media platform. “Five years ago I was completely hopeless and couldn’t see any way out. Thankfully I ran into a group of people that had once been hopeless just like me and showed me the way out.”

Kirk, who turns 39 on May 8, and his wife Tahnee, an Oconee County High School graduate, have three boys and live on 42 acres of farmland in Oconee County.

The caption in his post read, “The work never stops but I live a life of peace and contentment that I never knew was possible.”

A victory at the Korn Ferry Tour’s King and Bear Classic in the summer of 2020 was the beginning of his journey back to the PGA Tour. He regained his Tour card the next year and has become a steady figure on the tour once again, winning The Sentry tournament in Hawaii to open the 2024 season. He also won the Honda Classic (now Cognizant Classic) at the PGA National resort in 2023.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chris Kirk (@chris_kirk_)

He’s currently ranked No. 24 in the world after closing 2023 at No. 52. His 2-over par at the Masters tied him for 16th to give him his best-ever finish at the tournament.

“Every good thing, every great thing, every awesome thing that I have in my life is 100% because I got sober,” Kirk said in the video. “God bless you, have a great day.”

'Sweet Wild and Vicious' is a tour through the reason Lou Reed deserves biographies: the songs

"Sweet, Wild and Vicious: Listening to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground" by Jim Higgins

In 2023, a decade after the death of Lou Reed — songwriter, singer, guitarist, mercurial rock ‘n’ roll change-maker— his literary-minded fans got two fresh volumes: “Loaded: The Life (and Afterlife) of the Velvet Underground,” Dylan Jones’ oral history of Reed’s influential band; and “Lou Reed: The King of New York,” Will Hermes’ heavy biography of the man.

Just months later, literary-minded Journal Sentinel arts and books editor Jim Higgins adds “Sweet, Wild and Vicious: Listening to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground” (Trouser Press Books) a tour through the reason Reed deserves biographies and histories: the songs.

Together with Journal Sentinel music critic Piet Levy, Higgins will talk about his new book at 6:30 p.m. May 9 at Milwaukee's Boswell Books.

Higgins approaches Reed's discography by release date instead of recording date, smartly using the concert LPs, boxed sets and demo collections as opportunities to compare different versions of songs — and nascent ideas — to the “official” versions Reed let the public hear shortly after he laid them to tape.

The approach is brisk enough that Higgins gets through the Velvet Underground’s four studio albums, released between March 1967 and November 1970, in less than 40 pages, and he’s more or less done with Reed’s 1970s output, plus a pair of concert recordings, by page 90.

Fortunately, Higgins pours a great deal of information into those pages: his exploration of drummer Maureen “Moe” Tucker backs his claim that she “brought a fresh conception to playing drums in a rock band,” and his overview of “Transformer,” the 1972 solo commercial breakthrough co-produced by David Bowie and Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson, shrewdly describes Reed’s “dominant vocal personality” as “sardonic, intimate, (and) superior.”

His summaries display a jeweler’s eye for flaws in the beautiful (the 1989 album “New York” is both “fully committed emotionally to the music” and “a crabby evisceration of (Reed’s home) city”) and a conscientious journalist’s efforts to be fair-minded — Reed's final studio album, the 2011 Metallica partnership “Lulu,” clumsily combined Reed’s “wrecked voice” with Metallica’s “machine-tooled thunder,” but Higgins manages to “salvage a couple songs."

Higgins extends the insight and fair-mindedness to Reed’s collaborators, including John Cale, “who brought noise and aggression to the Velvet Underground"; Reed’s artistic descendants, including Nick Cave and Violent Femmes; and even to the bibliography, although the absence of the late Lester Bangs, one of the best cheerleaders and gadflies Reed ever had, is a puzzling omission.

Such omissions are rare, however, and “Sweet, Wild and Vicious” benefits not only from Higgins’ attention to detail but also from his ability to write as though he is opening discussions rather than shutting down dissent.

Jim Higgins will speak about "Sweet, Loud and Vicious" in conversation with Piet Levy at 6:30 p.m. May 9 at Boswell Books, 2559 N. Downer Ave. To register for this free event, visit jimhigginsmke.eventbrite.com .

Ryan Gosling gives subtle shoutout to Eva Mendes on press tour with T-shirt

This Ken is wearing his heart on his sleeve.

Ryan Gosling showed his support for Eva Mendes’ career during an interview with the UK’s Hits Radio on Monday, choosing to wear a shirt that promoted his partner’s upcoming project as he chatted about his own new movie.

The “Barbie” actor, 43, sported an ivory tee reading “Desi, Mami and the Never-Ending Worries” — the title of the Skura Sponge owner’s debut children’s book ($20) — as he sat next to his “The Fall Guy” co-star, Emily Blunt, to chat about their action comedy.

The illustrated book, which releases September 17, tells “the story of a little girl facing endless scary worries” at bedtime and how her mother helps her overcome them.

While Mendes, 50, has been taking a break from acting, she’s now adding “author” to her résumé, telling People , “Desi, Mami and the Never-Ending Worries is a love letter to my kids and yours.”

This isn’t the first time the “Notebook” actor has worn a tribute to his longtime love while promoting one of his films; he wore an “E” necklace at the “Barbie” premiere in Los Angeles last summer.

And the “Hitch” star is just as supportive of Gosling’s career, showing off a Ken T-shirt with her partner’s photo on it while the actor promoted “Barbie” last summer.

While the notoriously private couple has never officially confirmed that they’re married, Mendes did call the “La La Land” star her “husband” during a November 2022 interview.

She also showed off a  tattoo tribute  to Gosling in 2022 that reads “de gosling,” hinting that she might have added Gosling’s last name to hers by adding “de,” meaning “of” in Spanish.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
