This travel budget template makes it easy to enter your travel expenses for your next trip. The top section allows you to set a total budget, and as you enter your travel costs you can quickly see where the money is going, how much extra you'll have, or how much you'll need to add to your budget.

The worksheet is set up to let you enter a quantity and unit cost for each item. For example, for lodging you can enter the number of nights you will be staying and the cost per night. If you will be driving rather than flying, you can enter the total miles and the cost per mile. Remember to include both fuel and wear as part of the cost (see the link below for what the IRS uses as the standard mileage rate - $0.56/mile in 2014).

How to complete the quote template?

This quote template can be adapted to meet the needs of your travel agency. To do so, download the quote template in the format that suits and insert the key elements including your name, company name, customers name and current date. Quotes must be numbered one after each other with a unique number.

After this, you can designate the services/products sold as well as the quantity and unit price. The total excluding tax should represent the quantity x the unit price excluding tax (this total is calculated automatically in the Excel quote template but not in the Word template). Then ensure check that the total of the estimate represents the sum of the products or services.

Once completed, all you have to do is print it and send it to your client.

What details should be included on a travel agency quote?

Any financial costings for work yet to be conducted can be referred to as an estimate (or quotation). As a result, it is fixed, and after it has been acknowledged by the client, it should not be modified in any way (except if the client changes the quantity or kind of work that is necessary, or should you find anything that is beyond the range of what was negotiated upon).

The following components should be included in a quote:

  • The information about the consumer
  • Job description

  • Services that are covered and those that are not
  • A comprehensive description of the process through which you accomplished the breakdown
  • Conditions and terms of use
  • Date when the price will be calculated and shown in the quotation
  • Provision for signatures and a stamp of approval

Is a quotation enforceable under the law?

A quotation is not the same thing as a legally enforceable contract. According to the principles of contract law, only offers are regarded as being legally binding, and a quotation is not the same thing. Having said that, accepting a quotation has the potential to initiate the formation of a legally enforceable deal if certain requirements are met. For a deal to be legally binding, it is necessary for both parties to concede that they will give something up.

The following are the steps that need to be taken before a quotation may be turned into a contract:

  • The quotation is sent in by the supplier to the customer.
  • The customer decides to go ahead and place an order after accepting the estimate.
  • The order is accepted by the provider.

To illustrate, a florist may send a customer an email including a written quotation for $2,000 for one day of flower labor. The customer responds to the quotation with an email stating that they accept it and want to go through with the transaction.

The florist sends another email to the customer to express their gratitude and reaffirm that they will deliver the job on the agreed upon date and charge $2,000 for it. At this point, there is a contract in place that is legally enforceable.

  • Cruise details, if a cruise is to be part – or all – of the trip. This would include cabin options, shore trips, etc.
  • Facilities available on flights, for example, meals, drinks, and entertainment
  • Luggage limits and cost for extra items of luggage, if any
  • Available upgrades and their cost
  • The hotels and accommodations that are proposed, with links to enable the client to look at them. Usually, alternatives are given, and if the pricing is different, this should be made clear
  • The meals are included in the quote. This is especially important if the trip is overseas, as what is generally offered in Europe, for example, may differ from what is generally expected in the US.
  • A detailed itinerary giving times and dates. Times need to be given in local time, and this needs to be made clear.
  • If the trip is to a number of places, transportation options between destinations should be given.
  • Optional visits, excursions, and experiences should be offered, including price, duration, and level of fitness required, if relevant. Links to visits and experiences should be included to enable the client to decide if it’s something that they would enjoy
  • Insurance costs, including cancellation insurance due to covid-19.
  • Covid-19 requirements both on leaving the country, entering the destination country, and returning to the home country.
  • Any visa or other documentation requirements.
  • Any health requirements, for example, vaccinations that may be stipulated by the destination country
  • Any health recommendations, for example, malaria precautions
  • Payment terms – when a deposit is required, when final payment must be made, and whether any elements are refundable if there is a cancellation
  • Any applicable taxes should be shown separately
  • Any provisos – for example, if airlines apply emergency fuel surcharges during the life of the quote, these would be added to the cost
  • A grand total

What If I am a Traveler Looking for a Quote?

If you are a traveler seeking a quote for that trip of your dreams, you can use a travel quote template and send it to travel providers to have them price your trip for you. This is a very convenient way for you to easily compare the available deals. Be prepared for your travel expert to make suggestions – they may be able to find more cost-effective solutions for you. Your final price should be able to cover all the expenses directly related to the tour, and also a fraction of the expenses that will occur despite the tour. Those are the direct and indirect costs respectively.

Some of the expenses connected to a tour operator business are:

  • Maintenance of the equipment used during the tour/activity
  • The salary of tour guides, sales personnel, customer service, etc.
  • Training courses you will offer to your staff
  • The commission for distributing your tours — depends on your chosen channel (business partners, direct bookings, Online Travel Agencies, etc.)
  • Internet, mobile phone, energy, rent, and other bills
  • Government taxes according to the country you operate
  • Your monthly investment in marketing

The list of expenses goes on. But you should know all of them to better costing and pricing tour tours.

For that reason, don’t hesitate in asking for help from a professional accountant. Setting the correct cost will save you a lot of money.

Analyze your competition

Tour operators should benchmark their prices against competitors to establish a reference price.

A reference price is a price that a traveler considers fair to pay for your tour in comparison to competitors’ tours.

When benchmarking the competition you should note the differences between the experience you are offering and the ones your competitors are offering.

What are their differentials? What is their price? Which channels do they use to distribute their tours? Who is the market leader? What are their payment conditions?

Each detail matters. By understanding your competition it will be easier to see your own strengths and weaknesses, and what is considered a fair price for your tours in the eyes of your customers.

Select a pricing method

Unfortunately, there isn’t an ultimate formula for tour costing and pricing. Although would be great just to add the inputs, set the parameters and… voilà! Here you go the right price for your experience.

As I said at the beginning of this article, finding the price that works better for your business is more or less a trial and error journey.

The good news is that you can use one of the methods I’ll describe below as the starting point for your journey.

Cost-oriented pricing

This method involves calculating the cost of a tour and then adding a percentage markup to determine the final price. That’s the easiest way to calculate what a tour should be priced at.

There are essentially five ways that you can do that:

  • Cost-plus pricing involves adding a certain percentage to the cost to fix the price. For example, if the cost of a wine experience is $150 per person and the marketer expects 12% profit on costs, then the selling price will be $168. The difference between the selling price and the cost ($18) is the profit.
  • Mark-up pricing is a variation of cost pricing where tour operators increase the cost of a tour before offering a significant discount. That way, travelers feel like they are getting a deal and travel companies can get more profits. Mark-ups are calculated as a percentage of the selling price and not as a percentage of the cost price.
  • Mark-down pricing means that you offer your products at a discounted rate in order to increase the number of bookings you receive.
  • Break-even pricing covers all the relevant fixed and variable costs. The sales revenue equals the cost of sold tour and vacation packages. There is neither profit nor loss.
  • Target return pricing is the pricing method where a tour operator sets prices to achieve a certain level of return on investment (ROI).

Market-oriented pricing

When using this method you will set a final price based on the current market conditions.

This means you should know very well the market that you are operating including your competitors, demand, etc.

This method fits well with companies that offer products with a high intangible value . That’s the case for tour operators.

Each experience is unique and customers will perceive a higher value as more memorable the experience is.

In a similar way to costing oriented pricing, there are different techniques to find a final price based on the market:

  • Perceived value pricing considers perceived value as the primary factor for fixing prices, and the costs as a secondary factor. If the customer perceives a higher value, then the price fixed will be high, otherwise, it should be lowered.
  • Going-rate pricing sets the price by major competitors. If a major competitor changes their price, then the smaller travel companies may also change their price, irrespective of their costs or demand.
  • Customer segment pricing : Here different customer groups are charged different prices for the same tour depending on the size of group bookings, payment terms, and so on.
  • Time pricing : Here different prices are charged for the same tour at different departures or season. It includes off-peak pricing, where low prices are charged during low-demand tunings or season.
  • Area pricing : Here different prices are charged for the same tour in different market areas. For instance, a travel company may charge a lower price in a new market to attract travelers.

Calculating the tour costing and pricing is essential for all tour operators and it’s something that should be done in the early stages of your business.

Finding the right prices for your products will prevent future losses. If you are in the market for a while, consider checking your pricing objectives and updating your market research.

That is something you should do once in a while to make sure your prices are competitive and that you are receiving what is fair for your tours.

Travel agencies and DMCs create lots of Tour Itinerary proposals for Tour package queries from B2B & B2C Clients. One of the most important aspects of the Tour Itinerary building process is tour cost calculation and defining the selling price of the Tour Itinerary proposal.

With effective active noise cancelation (ANC), a handy TalkThru mode, various equalizer presets, an innovative charging case and a good battery life, these earbuds pack enough specs to rival high-end products in the price range. But there is no support for advanced codecs like LDAC and aptX for higher-quality audio handling over Bluetooth, and spatial audio isn’t the greatest. So are these worth the steep price tag?

The JBL Tour Pro 2 have a retail price of $249 / £199, and we’ve seen them drop to $195 at Amazon U.S. and £180 at Amazon U.K . At this price point, these wireless earbuds have some serious competition from the likes of the Apple AirPods Pro 2 (also $249) and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds ($299). The Tour Pro 2 earbuds are available in two colors: black and champagne (off-white).

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Design & comfort

The JBL Tour Pro 2 look like a pair of ordinary earbuds, although the long stem design is sleek and looks more sophisticated than many of the best noise-canceling earbuds available. Both earbuds have a glossy, matte finish, and the black model we tested looks premium. They’re quite light, with each earbud weighing 0.42 ounces. The long stem design is handy, too, as it prevents accidental taps when you’re adjusting the fit.

The Tour Pro 2’s smart case is something to behold and it feels innovative. The robust smart case weighs only 2.6oz, and it easily slips into your pocket. With a 1.45-inch display, the touchscreen is generally responsive but given its small size, those with large hands may struggle to get a reaction from it. The case doubles as a controller, allowing you to cycle between 13 settings, so you don’t need to open up the JBL app on your smartphone every time you want to alter the equalizer or enable/disable active noise cancelation. You can even turn the LCD screen into a flashlight (albeit nowhere near as effective as a smartphone’s). Nifty!

A downside of the smart case, though, is that it unlocked twice while it was in my jeans’ back pocket. I realized this only when I heard random beeping coming through the earbuds as the alarm had somehow been triggered. This is a bit annoying as, if the case is locked, only swiping to the right should unlock it.

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Connectivity

The JBL Tour Pro 2 earbuds use Bluetooth 5.3 to seamlessly connect to your laptop and smartphone, and they support AAC and SBC codecs. However, there is no support for LDAC and aptX — advanced codecs for higher-quality audio handling over Bluetooth — which is surprising given the $249 price tag. The Tour Pro 2 lose a couple of points here as similarly priced earbuds, such as the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 and the Sony WF-1000XM5 (both priced at $299), support these advanced codecs.

These earbuds also support multipoint connectivity, so having them simultaneously connected to my MacBook Air and Google Pixel 7 Pro was handy as I could use both systems to play music or watch videos. I’ll give the Tour Pro 2 a point here as this is a feature missing from the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 .

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Controls & app

While you can control the JBL Tour Pro 2 with the smart case, the earbuds also have touch controls. Tapping the left earbud swaps between Ambient Aware, ANC and TalkThru, while you can go to the next/previous track or pause by tapping the right. Holding either down will mute the mic. All the touch controls were highly responsive during my testing, and the protruding touch panels are handy as they provide improved touch accuracy.

These earbuds also feature wear detection, so if you remove an earbud, the media will pause and then resume when it’s put back in.

The Tour Pro 2 earbuds are compatible with the JBL Headphones app, available for free on iOS and Android . Even though you can change pretty much every setting via the charging case, the app isn’t completely redundant. Personally, I used the app to remove a few widgets from the touchscreen and kept only the ones I knew I’d be constantly using. You can also customize the EQ and change the controls on the earbuds.

The app also conducts a test to check how the earbuds fit for the best seal, and an extensive test to help create a personalized EQ which can be applied to every song you listen to.

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Sound quality

For the purpose of this review, I listened to a playlist on Spotify Premium, which is one of the best music streaming services , on my Google Pixel 7 Pro . With new upgraded 10mm drivers (up from 6.8mm in the JBL Tour Pro+), the JBL Tour Pro 2 offer an excellent listening experience, especially when it comes to the bass. As a bassist, I’m prone to noticing the bass in every song I listen to, so I was thrilled with the Tour Pro 2’s ability to amplify the bass without sounding overbearing. I’ve been playing One Pilots’ new album Clancy on repeat, and these earbuds fed into my obsession. The basslines in ‘Navigating’ and ‘At the Risk of Feeling Dumb’ sounded exceptional with the EQ set to bass.

I was also pleased with the vocal EQ, as was proven by how wonderful Paris Paloma’s vocals sounded in ‘Labour’ and the ‘Cacophony’ where the Tour Pro 2 highlighted the several singing voices in all their glory. These earbuds work so well that I noticed something new in Mitski’s ‘Brand New City’ (a song I’ve probably listened to 100 times). About 15 seconds into the song, a haunting instrument akin to an out-of-tune violin plays in the background — how had I never heard that before?!

While the overall sound is great, I found the spatial audio a bit lacking. On live albums, it works well at separating audience cheers from the artist’s vocals and guitar riffs. Give Green Day’s live performance of ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ a spin and you’ll see what I mean. But it doesn’t work with studio recordings, adding what feels like a tinny EQ.

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Active noise cancelation

I rank the JBL Tour Pro 2 ANC highly. When you wear them for the first time, the app will conduct an ear canal test (you need to be in a noisy environment for this) to check for good sealing which makes ANC more effective. It also adjusts in real time based on how loud your environment is, and it works well. When someone was building shelves in the office, I could barely hear the hammer loudly striking the nails, preventing me from getting a headache. However, the ANC wasn’t as effective when traveling on a train — I could still hear the loud hum of the engine. Having used the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 in the past, I have to say Bose’s ANC is better than the Tour Pro 2’s. I’ve been able to easily fall asleep on airplanes while wearing the QuietComfort Earbuds 2, but based on my testing, I doubt the JBLs would be up to the task. but the same can’t be said for the Tour Pro 2.

In addition to ANC, the Tour Pro 2 offers two other modes: Ambient Aware, and TalkThru. TalkThru works especially well as, when toggled, you can have a conversation without needing to remove the earbuds. You can then switch back to ANC or your preferred mode via the smart case or tapping the left earbud.

JBL Tour Pro 2 review: Battery life

JBL claims the Tour Pro 2 earbuds give 10 hours of playback time, with the charging case giving an additional 30. With ANC on, this falls to 8 hours of playback and 24 hours from the case. I found these claims to be fairly accurate, as with ANC on, the earbuds died after 7 hours. This is better than the (6 hours with ANC on), but worse than the $219 Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 (10 hours with ANC on).

If you’re on the move and desperately need your earbuds, charging them with a 30W USB-A to USB-C adapter for 15 minutes gives you 4 hours of playback. The Tour Pro 2 also support wireless charging.

It feels like JBL has struck gold with the Tour Pro 2 wireless earbuds. I now wish all earbuds came with this smart charging case. Its touchscreen is fairly responsive and it doubles as a controller, negating the need to pull out your phone and open the app every time you want to change any settings. With effective ANC that blocks out most noise and a consistent sound across a range of genres (especially ones with heavy bass), the Tour Pro 2 warrant a recommendation.

However, there is no support for advanced codecs like aptX and LDAC, which many similarly priced earbuds do (looking at you, Sony WF-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds ). Also, while features like TalkThru are appreciated and work well, spatial audio doesn’t perform nearly as well, and it feels like listening to music with a tinny EQ.

But the Tour Pro 2 are still worth the steep $249 price tag, especially if you value effective ANC, an innovative case, excellent sound quality, and a premium build.

Uber is launching a new champagne tour this summer.

With all eyes on Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games, Uber is debuting a new and timely experience.

Uber Bubbles , a full-day, all-inclusive Champagne tour, will give the anticipated 16 million travelers heading to the City of Lights an opportunity to “escape the frenzy and enjoy one of the most iconic regions in France,” shared Laureline Serieys, general manager at Uber France.

Uber Bubbles will be available to book on Fridays and Saturdays between June 7 and August 17.

About two hours east of Paris, the world-renowned region of Champagne attracts sparkling wine enthusiasts with its rolling hills of prized vineyards and historic Champagne houses. Among them, Perrier-Jouët and G.H. Mumm have partnered with Uber to bring the experience to life.

“We’re putting the heart of France’s Champagne region at your fingertips,” says Serieys, of the trip that begins with a pickup in Paris by an Uber Bubbles-branded Tesla. The first stop of the day is at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque in Epernay where travelers will experience a Champagne tasting of three cuvées followed by a multi-course lunch.

The second stop will be Maison G.H. Mumm in Reims that includes a cellar visit and a Cordon Rouge tasting, the brand’s icon cuvée blend of at least 100 crus they’ve been making since 1876.

Despite the challenges surrounding the bubbly beverage in recent years — Champagne shortages, supply chain disruptions and climate crises affecting viticulture — the wine-growing region is still one of the most popular destinations for wine tourism in France, only behind Bordeaux as the top draw to France’s 10 million wine tourists .

Also, according to The Drinks Market , the United Kingdom’s Champagne market is back to normal , encouraging that there is less trouble in paradise for Champagne enthusiasts than headlines infer, so there’s never been a better time to visit this wine region that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars were added to the list in 2015.

Uber Bubbles joins Uber’s ‘Go Anywhere’ series of travel products, which the on-demand ride-hailing and courier service launched in 2022 with Uber Sleigh in Lapland, Finland that provided free on-demand sleigh rides. Following this, they introduced Uber Boat in Mykonos, Greece and Uber Balloon in Cappadocia, Turkey. Later this summer, Uber Cruise will also come to Paris with an eco-conscious cruise on the Seine River.

The bubbly offering will become available on June 1 through the Uber app for reservations exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays this summer, from June 7 though August 17 for a €200 flat fee, covering up to four guests.

It's probably really great to be Jennifer Lopez . Of my running mental list of people whose lives seem absolutely awesome, she easily falls within the top 10. But just because she lives a charmed life doesn't mean things go great all of the time, and, lately, things have been a little less than ideal for the actor/singer/dancer from the Bronx. Her relationship with Ben Affleck is said to be on the rocks, and beyond any personal woes, she's got professional pains, too. Namely, JLo is apparently having a hard time selling tickets.

Lopez announced a tour to support her new album ( and truly wild accompanying movie ), "This Is Me … Now," earlier this year, but she wound up canceling a bunch of dates amid weak sales. She then rebranded the tour as a greatest-hits show, but fans still weren't tripping over themselves to see her. At the end of May, JLo decided to cancel her tour , saying she was "heartsick" but needed to spend time with her family and friends.

In JLo's defense, she's not the only one having trouble packing venues. The rock duo The Black Keys scrapped a planned arena tour and are expected to announce a "revised" set of dates at smaller venues. On social media, fans have noted that some shows from the pop artists Troye Sivan and Charli XCX as well as the band Wallows appear to be undersold. The Latin trap artist Bad Bunny recently pulled out of a show in Minneapolis, reportedly amid weak sales. Coachella lagged this year, and there's been chatter about a variety of acts not hitting home runs sales-wise in some instances and locations, including Cardi B, Justin Timberlake, and Pink.

This doesn't mean the entire concert industry is in disarray. Taylor Swift is unstoppable . As is Beyoncé whenever she is on the road. Acts such as Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, and Olivia Rodrigo are selling a ton. Dead & Company, the successor band to the Grateful Dead, is adding dates at the Las Vegas Sphere. Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster and rules the roost in the live-events space, had a huge 2023, estimating that 145 million fans attended more than 50,000 events, a 20% increase in fans over the year before. However, not everything is going smoothly for everyone. For some artists, conditions aren't so favorable, and they're struggling to pull in the crowds they anticipated, at least right out of the gate.

"Concert promotion is a betting business. You don't always win. And sometimes, you can be humbled," said Jarred Arfa, the head of global music at Independent Artist Group, whose client roster includes Billy Joel, 50 Cent, and Metallica.

Ticket prices are just astronomical right now.

There are a combination of factors that are dragging down some artists' ticket sales. For one thing, a lot of acts are on tour at the moment. In the wake of the pandemic, artists have been eager to get back out there and recoup lost time and money. Even if the return hasn't been smooth , basically anyone who can be touring is, meaning the space is crowded and oversaturated.

"You'd never before had a moment in time where all the horses lined up at the starting gate and they all went out on the road at the same time," said Gary Witt, the CEO and co-owner of The Pabst Theater Group in Milwaukee.

The world really is your oyster right now when it comes to catching a show. But it also means that people have a ton of options, and there is only so much time to go around. Maybe you already saw your favorite artist when they first went on the road after the worst of COVID passed, and you don't feel especially inspired to go see them again. Or you like the band or singer in question plenty, but not enough to go through all the rigamarole of seeing them live. Either way, the once feverish demand for that ticket has probably cooled.

Pricing is also a factor. Anyone who's looked for concert tickets recently has probably been gobsmacked at the cost. Many consumers have been spending through inflation , even if begrudgingly so, but no one's budget is limitless, especially as prices for basically everything — including tickets to live events — remain elevated. Pollstar calculated that the average ticket price for the top 100 tours in the first quarter of this year was $123.25, an all-time. Its data indicates that the average ticket price for a Bad Bunny ticket is $290, for Justin Timberlake $216, and for Nicki Minaj $149.

"Ticket prices are just astronomical right now," said David "5-1" Norman, an industry veteran who has toured with Prince, Green Day, and Alicia Keys. "And if you're bringing a child with you, and then you have to stay overnight and gas and hotel and then food, that stuff adds up."

Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales.

Going on tour is always a gamble based on numerous factors including ticket history, streaming performance, email list sizes, and online attention. But there are no guarantees that any of that will translate to hard ticket sales . There are artists who might have massive numbers online but whose fans are only surface-level and don't really care enough to appear at a show. The way artists break out on social media nowadays makes it even harder to figure out whether that might be the case. Having a couple of hits on Spotify or TikTok doesn't mean someone can sell out a stadium.

That's why, in some cases, there seems to be a degree of overshooting. Artists (and their agents and managers and promoters) are trying to sell out bigger venues than they can. A more conservative approach would be to book a handful of big venues and see how it goes before committing to more, but that's not the approach everyone is taking.

"We have some hard-rock artists who you've never even heard of and they sell out everywhere, but they have that loyal fan base," Arfa said. "Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales." For every five or six acts that are doing great touring, one is a little clunky, he added. "We're having a couple conversations where we're thinking it may be best to push into Q1 of next year because of a high level of traffic on the road right now."

A spokesperson for Live Nation said in a statement that over 100 million tickets have been sold this year, even with fewer stadium shows touring, and that sales for shows in arenas, amphitheaters, theaters, and clubs are up "double digits" from last year. "Every year some events naturally fall off for various reasons, and in 2024 across all venue types we've seen a 4% cancellation rate – which is flat to last year," the spokesperson said.

Every artist and situation is unique. Bad Bunny may not have been able to sell such high-priced tickets in Minneapolis, but he's sold a ton of other places. JLo seems to have a lot more on her plate than trying to tour right now, and the Black Keys will probably do fine in smaller venues. A representative for Live Nation, which is producing the Troye Sivan/Charli XCX show, said the tour had sold out some dates and was 70% sold across the board, implying there had been misconceptions about sales online. (They said Wallows is selling "well" without providing on-the-record specifics and pointed to public statements from the Black Keys and Lopez, the tours of which Live Nation all produced.) Hiccups are not all about ticket sales, either. Kid Cudi canceled his tour this year because he broke his foot jumping off the stage during Coachella, and many acts aren't specifically saying the problem is sales when they do cancel.

There are strategies acts undertake to try to freshen things up for fans and boost sales, such as combining forces or bringing in special guests. Def Leppard is touring with Journey this year, and last year it toured with Mötley Crüe. There's always good old marketing. Live Nation recently wrapped its "concert week," which offers a variety of tickets at $25 — a good way to push tickets that aren't moving.

There is, of course, a huge issue that undergirds the entire conversation: Buying tickets is supremely annoying. You have to really want to see a show to try to navigate the labyrinthine purchase process. Live Nation-Ticketmaster dominates the market, which critics — including the Department of Justice, which is suing the company over claims of anti-competitive practices — say stifles innovation, allows for unfair markups, and contributes to an overall negative experience for fans . Fees on tickets are confoundingly high and seemingly endless . Bot armies snatch up tickets when they go on sale and flip them on the secondary markets for exorbitantly high prices. (One piece of silver lining here is that this year's lowered demand has resulted in lower resale ticket prices. SeatGeek says the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert this year is $214; last year, it was $257, though a lot of that was due to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.)

"The time when customer experiences aren't good is usually when there's a monopoly involved," Witt, from The Pabst Theater Group, said.

JLo, of course, will be fine — she is very rich, famous, and beautiful after all. Her fans will survive and will probably have a chance to see her perform again. But next time she hits the road, they'd be wise to scoop up her tickets fast so "This Is Me … Whenever In the Future" doesn't get axed, too.
