Zoom under 16 travel pass.

The  Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass  gives discounted travel across South Yorkshire all year round for under 16 year olds.

Passes are valid up to 31 July of the school year in which the child turns 16 (or up to the day before their 16th  birthday if they were born in August).

The discounted fares include:

• 80p per single journey on bus and tram
• half price rail fare on local trains

Who can get the Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass

All young people aged under 16 who live in South Yorkshire are eligible.

How to get the Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass

You can apply for a Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass online by setting up a MyTSY account.

• Valid on bus, tram and train.

• Valid throughout South Yorkshire at any time.

• Entitles holder to concessionary fare on bus and tram (currently 80p) and half fare on rail services in South Yorkshire.

• These are Smartcards and should be scanned instead of used as fl ash passes. Any passenger with a Smartcard version should be asked to scan them.

• If the card can’t be scanned due to equipment fault, allow the customer to travel.

Old style MegaTravel Pass - existing passes will remaing in circulation until they expire.

Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass

If you live in South Yorkshire and you’re under 16 years old you can apply for a Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass.

Prices valid as at June 2023 and are subject to change.  

The MegaTravel Pass was replaced by the Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass from Monday 2 August 2021. If you applied for a pass after this date you’ll receive a Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass. 

If you have a MegaTravel Pass which has not yet expired, it will remain valid until its expiry date. You don’t need to apply for a new Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass to replace a valid MegaTravel Pass.

• Under 16  
• Valid to 31 July of the school year in which you turn 16 (or up to the day before your 16 th birthday if you were born in August)

From the age of 11 children are required to show the Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass as proof of entitlement to the concessionary fare.  The Zoom Under 16 Travel Pass is also available to children under the age of 11 if they look older, or wish to benefit from having discounted tickets for young people loaded onto their pass.

• Travel anytime, anywhere in South Yorkshire for 80p on bus or tram. From 1 November 2023, the fare rises to £1.  
• 50% off local Northern train fares for travel anytime, anywhere within South Yorkshire. This applies to Anytime Day Single / Return or Off-Peak Day Single / Return fares  
• Load discounted tickets for young people on to your pass  
• Free of charge (first issue)

Please be aware that no pass means that you could pay full fare.

If all the details are correct your pass will be dispatched within 25 days of receiving your completed application form.

Please note proof documents must be photocopies and not original documents as all documents are destroyed once the pass is ordered.

A completed application form can also be submitted by dropping it off at the Customer Service Desk at your local Travel South Yorkshire Interchange .

We can now block lost or stolen passes to prevent further use.

To replace a lost or damaged pass, there is a £7 replacement fee.  Stolen passes can be replaced free of charge if you have a Crime Reference Number from the Police.

• Passes applied for through MyTSY can be replaced by logging into your MyTSY account
• Passes applied for by post can be replaced by calling Traveline on 0800 952 0002

Your replacement pass will be posted to your home address and should be sent to you within 11 days.

When you use your Travel South Yorkshire account to apply for one of our passes, we will use the information you provide to contact you about your pass for the period it remains valid for. You can see how we use and store your data in our  Privacy Policy .  We collect your information on behalf of South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. It will be held and processed by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority for the purpose of administering any application you may make for one of our passes, and we won’t pass your information on to any organisation outside the Travel South Yorkshire partnership.

If you’re aged 18 to 21 and live in South Yorkshire, either permanently or during term-time, you can get a Zoom Beyond 18-21 Travel Pass.

The Zoom Beyond 18-21 Travel Pass entitles pass holders to travel on buses and trams in South Yorkshire for 80p per single journey. You must live in South Yorkshire, either permanently or during term-time, to be eligible.

You will need to provide proof of your age, this could be a copy of:

• Your birth certificate

• Passport

• Driving Licence

• NHS medical card or prescription

• Any other official letter that states your date of birth.

• If you have a Driving Licence or Passport we can check your proof of age instantly online.

If you’re aged 18 to 21 and live in South Yorkshire, either permanently or during term time, you can get a Zoom Beyond 18-21 Travel Pass.

• This pass is free

• You can travel on any bus or tram in South Yorkshire for 80p per single journey

• Your Zoom Beyond 18-21 Travel Pass will be valid until 20 June 2022, when the scheme closes, or until the day before your 22nd Birthday, whichever is sooner.
