Traveling by air with golf clubs can be risky considering the potential for rough handling that comes with checking in luggage, but the Club Glove Last Bag Collegiate Travel Cover with Stiff Arm is made of high-quality materials and includes a stiff arm that is designed to protect gear from hard impact. The adjustable stiff arm is made of nylon plastic and lightweight aluminum, and although it doesn’t take up much room, we had to jostle the bag to get the stiff arm in with the golf clubs. With the smaller-sized interior, we appreciated the two large exterior pockets that can fit items like shoes, clothing, or sunscreen. The fully-packed bag is comfortable to carry with top, bottom, and middle straps that evenly distribute the weight of the lengthy bag and we liked how it can stand up on its own.

After flying with this Club Glove design, there weren’t any scuffs or damage to the bag. The exterior of the bag is made of water-resistant ballistic nylon fabric and the backing has single webbing reinforcement — a common fabric used for climbing, military gear, and parachutes.

The Izzo High Roller golf bag impressed us with how easy it was to transport by wheeling or carrying it. The six wheels on the bottom of the bag make it possible to push or pull it while standing upright. In addition, the bag can collapse down to just 12 inches for easy storage while traveling or at home.

While the bag felt a little top-heavy while being wheeled through an airport, the handles made it easy to lift and hold onto while rolling the bag. Even if the bag were to fall over, it has a solid amount of protective padding on the inside and outside, and it’s made of tear-resistant nylon that feels sturdy and durable. The interior of the bag is large enough for golf clubs and extra shirts, and the exterior pocket is big enough for a pair of golf shoes, but it was a tighter fit than we would’ve preferred. We think the Izzo High Roller bag is perfect for golfers who could benefit from having exceptional portability and durability while traveling through airports.

Though the hardshell top makes it slightly top heavy, the bag maneuvers well on the inline skate wheels at the bottom, while the top, bottom, and center handle make it easy to lift the bag into a car or onto a weight scale at the airport.

We had our expert product testers and golfers take 19 golf travel bags on the road to find out which ones will keep your clubs safe whether you’re flying or driving. Our testers evaluated the bags by flying, driving, walking around, and carrying the bags and rating various attributes on a scale from one to five based on capacity, design, durability, and portability. 

Our testers packed their golf clubs into the travel bags and noted how easy it was to place the clubs into them and if there was room leftover for clothes, shoes, golf balls, or other accessories between the main compartment and any pockets. While packing the bags, we checked the quality of the zippers and buckles, as well as how much padding there was and if it felt sufficient for protecting the clubs. The bags with the highest ratings for capacity were spacious with extra room leftover, and the best performing bags for design had thoughtful and intuitive features that had golfers in mind and made packing easier.

After packing up the travel bags, our traveling golfers tested portability by carrying and wheeling the bag to get a feel for how it maneuvers. The top performing bags for portability were exceptionally easy to lift and wheel with comfortable, padded straps and handles. Durability of the travel bags was tested when they were transported by airplane or car. Our five-star ratings for durability went to the travel bags that had no damage to the exterior or items on the interior after being used and gave us confidence that they would hold up well with prolonged use. The testers determined that the bags with the best value performed as or better than expected given the price, especially pricier bags that needed robust justification for the cost.

Other Golf Travel Bags We Liked

While there were plenty of well-performing golf travel bags, there were a few listed below that almost made our list of best golf travel bags but fell short during testing. 

Samsonite Golf Deluxe 3 Piece Travel Set : The bag is functional and has a sleek design, but there isn’t much padding and the zippers are plastic, which made us question the durability of the bag while flying. 

Samsonite Hard Side Golf Case : The hardshell feels durable, but there isn’t much give so it was a tight fit to get the golf clubs in, and the case is difficult to store since it can’t break down.

Amazon Basics Soft-sided Golf Travel Bag : This bag is very affordable, but has an unstructured bottom, so it can't stand up on its own.

SKB Cases ATA Deluxe Standard Hard Travel Golf Case : This case was built to withstand a lot of rough handling and includes TSA-approved locks, but can become heavy due to its thick plastic.

Bag Boy Golf T10 Hard Top Cover : For minimalist golfers, this simple bag fits just what you need, but won't give you room for extra equipment or gear.

Tips for Buying a Golf Travel Bag

Consider buying a stiff arm .

Whether you’re buying a hardshell or softside golf travel bag, a stiff arm can add another layer of protection to your golf clubs. A stiff arm is usually an adjustable metal rod with a plastic disc at the the top of it that extends longer than the driver or longest golf club. The rod is placed into a golf bag to absorb the hit if the bag is tossed around and prevent the clubs from being directly impacted. 

Hardshell versus softside 

When looking for a travel golf bag, you'll want to look at durability and padding. Both hardshell and softside golf travel bags can prevent damage to your golf clubs while traveling and are a worthwhile investment for golfers that travel several times per year. A hardshell suitcase can get more scuffed than a softside golf bag, but you might not need to buy a stiff arm since a plastic case offers a more structured layer of protection. Whereas a softside bag might need extra protection like a stiff arm, it’s easier to store a soft bag than a bulky hardshell case that can’t be folded down. Some airlines will only cover damaged or lost clubs that are in a hardshell case, so be sure to check with the airline to find out the policies. 

Look at the types of wheels

From upright wheels to inline skate wheels, golf bags are created with a variety of options to make transport easier for all types of players. You should look at wheels that will smoothly and easily roll over different terrains without adding weight to the overall bag.

You’ll want to make sure your golf bag and clubs can fit in a travel bag. While you don’t want to squeeze your clubs inside, you won’t want them swimming in a roomy case either. If there is extra room in your travel bag, stuffing the sides with clothes or towels can help keep everything in place, especially if you’re flying. If your club heads can be removed and covered, that can further prevent damage to your gear. 

Every airline will be different but most follow the same policies as regular check-in luggage regarding weight and size limitations. The weight limit for check-in luggage, including golf clubs, is almost always 50 pounds or less. If your bag weighs more, there will likely be a surcharge fee. Airlines also have different restrictions and policies for packing golf shoes or balls in your bag, and coverage for lost golf bags can be dependent on the type of golf travel bag. For peace of mind, consider securing an AirTag holder with a tracker to your golf bag.

Generally, airlines do not pay travelers for damaged golf clubs. Some, like American Airlines , may compensate if the equipment traveled in a hard-sided case that is visibly damaged and was properly packed, but you should always check your specific airline's policies before flying to guarantee safe and secure travel.

Wilson Exo Lite Stand Bag Review 

Lightweight golf stand bags are asked to do a lot by golfers. Not only do they have to be lightweight and easy to carry, but they also have to carry a full set of clubs plus an ever-increasing array of accessories that we golfers now tend to accumulate. With that in mind, there are very few stand bags that can fulfill this brief, but I think the new Wilson Exo Lite stand bag comes very, very close to achieving the ideal balance between sufficient space and weight. After testing the Wilson Exo Lite stand bag over a number of rounds on the golf course - and even flying it out to Orlando and back - this is as close to the ideal lightweight stand bag as I've tested. 

Starting with that weight, and at just 3.5 lbs (1.8kg) it's one of the most lightweight stand bags on the market with only the Callaway Hyperlite Zero stand bag and Big Max Dri Lite Feather coming close to this weight. I only tend to carry a maximum of 12 clubs and the 4-way top on the Exo Lite bag was perfect to house my set. With three clubs in each section, there was more than enough room for them and I never experienced any club crowding even in the relatively compact divider. I've had worse club crowding in the slightly larger Ping Hoofer , so I was seriously impressed with how little trouble I had getting a club out of this divider. If you regularly carry 14 golf clubs (plus anything extra like alignment sticks or a warm-up club) then I'd probably lean away from the Exo Lite. Not that this bag can't take 14 clubs, but I think you'll get a more pleasurable organizing experience from a larger lightweight stand bag like the TaylorMade FlexTech or Sun Mountain EcoLite EWP 14-way stand bag . 

The four way divider is ideal for 10-12 clubs to easily fit in. While it will hold 14, I'd invest in a slightly larger lightweight bag if you regularly carry a full allotment. 

Despite this lightweight nature, the bag still feels both premium and sturdy. I never had any problems with the legs not kicking out when I placed the bag down and they create a solid base for the bag to sit on. Whether on the side of a hill or on a particularly windy day, you can have plenty of confidence in the Exo Lite keeping your equipment upright and safe. The straps aren't market-leading - I've enjoyed better straps on the Srixon Z stand bag - but they are certainly comfortable and easy to adjust while the comprehensive hip pad makes for an altogether comfortable experience over your shoulders and back. 

For me, the absolute stand-out feature of this bag is the magnetic rangefinder pocket. Not only is it superbly convenient, but it also feels super-premium. Bags like the Ping Hoofer also have a magnetic rangefinder pocket and - I don't know what it is - but a magnetic pocket is just a very satisfying thing to interact with. It certainly adds to the overall premium feel of this bag and the thoughtfulness that has gone behind its design. If you don't want your rangefinder in this pocket, there is an accessory clip that you can utilize to attach things like rangefinder cases, towels, and club tags while other pockets include a full-size side pocket for apparel and a very well-placed cooler pocket that easy to access while you're walking with the bag on your back. 

The magnetic rangefinder pocket can be found just under the Dynapower branding. The seam-sealed valuables pocket pictured above is 100% waterproof. 

While the bag is not fully waterproof, it's certainly showerproof in light rain and there is a fully waterproof, fleece-lined valuables pocket that will keep things like your phone dry even in monsoon conditions. For me, the Black/Red/White colorway I tested this bag in is a little plain and I wasn't a huge fan of having the Dynapower branding on it when I didn't have matching Dynapower headcovers. This is me nitpicking here though and I think the overall silhouette of the bag is sharp and modern. Luckily, there are five other colorways to choose from (Red/White, Orange/White, Blue, Navy/White, and Black/Grey) that don't feature this Dynapower branding, giving you plenty of scope to match this bag with any headcovers/towels you'd like. Overall, the Wilson Exo Lite stand bag is one of the most enjoyable lightweight stand bags I've ever used and has certainly gone a long way to perfecting the balance between weight, comfort, and space in a stand bag.

Moscow-City: 7 surprising facts about the Russian capital’s business center

1. Guinness World Record in highlining

The record was set in 2019 by a team of seven athletes from Russia, Germany, France and Canada. They did it on September 8, on which the ‘Moscow-City Day’ is celebrated. The cord was stretched at the height of 350 m between the ‘OKO’ (“Eye”) and ‘Neva Towers’ skyscrapers. The distance between them is 245 m. The first of the athletes to cross was Friede Kuhne from Germany. The athletes didn't just walk, but also performed some daredevil tricks. Their record is 103 meters higher than the previous one set in Mexico City in December 2016.

2. Domination of Europe's top-10 highest skyscrapers

7 out of 10 Europe’s highest skyscrapers are located in Moscow-City. Earlier, the  ‘Federation Tower’ complex’s ‘Vostok’ (“East”) skyscraper was the considered the tallest in Europe.

However, in 2018, the construction of the 462 meter tall ‘Lakhta Center’ in Saint-Petersburg was completed, pushing ‘Vostok’ (374 m) into 2nd place. The 3rd place is taken by OKO’s southern tower (354 m).

3. The unrealized ‘Rossiya’ tower

If all the building plans of Moscow-City were realized, the ‘Lakhta Center’ in St. Petersburg wouldn't have a chance to be Europe's highest skyscraper. Boris Tkhor, the architect who designed the concept of Moscow-City, had planned for the ‘Rossiya’ tower to be the tallest. In his project, it was a 600 meter tall golden cylindrical skyscraper ending with a spire that was inspired by traditional Russian bell towers. Then, the project was reinvented by famous British architect Sir Norman Foster. He had designed ‘Rossiya’ as a pyramid ending with a spire. The skyscraper itself would have been 612 meters tall, and the height including the spire would have reached 744,5 meters (for comparison, the ‘Burj Khalifa’ in Dubai, UAE, would have been just 83,5 meters taller). Unfortunately, the investors faced a lot of economic problems, due to the 2008 financial crisis, so the ‘Rossiya’ skyscraper was never built. A shopping mall and the ‘Neva Towers’ complex was constructed at its place in 2019.

4. Changed appearance of ‘Federation Tower’

In its first project, the ‘Federation Tower’ was designed to resemble a ship with a mast and two sails. The mast was to be represented by a tall glass spire with passages between the towers. It was planned to make a high-speed lift in it. The top of the spire was going to be turned into an observation deck. But the ship lost its mast in the middle of its construction. Experts at the Moscow-city Museum based in the ‘Imperia’ (“Empire”) tower say, that the construction of the spire was stopped, firstly, due to fire safety reasons and secondly, because it posed a threat to helicopter flights – the flickering glass of the spire could potentially blind the pilots. So, the half-built construction was disassembled. However, an observation deck was opened in the ‘Vostok’ tower.

5. Open windows of ‘Federation Tower’

We all know that the windows of the upper floors in different buildings don’t usually open. Experts say that it’s not actually for people’s safety. Falling from a big height is likely to be fatal in any building. The actual reason is the ventilation system. In a skyscraper, it’s managed with a mechanical system, and the building has its own climate. But in the ‘Zapad’ (“West”) tower of the ‘Federation Tower’ complex, the windows can open. The 62nd and last floor of the tower are taken up by a restaurant called ‘Sixty’. There, the windows are equipped with a special hydraulic system. They open for a short period of time accompanied by classical music, so the guests can take breathtaking photos of Moscow.

6. Broken glass units of ‘Federation Tower’

The guests of the ‘Sixty’ restaurant at the top of the ‘Zapad’ tower can be surprised to see cracked glass window panes. It is particularly strange, if we take into consideration the special type of this glass. It is extremely solid and can’t be broken once installed. For example, during experiments people threw all sorts of heavy items at the windows, but the glass wouldn’t break. The broken glass units of ‘Zapad’ were already damaged during shipment . As each of them is curved in its own way to make the tower’s curvature smooth, making a new set of window panes and bringing them to Russia was deemed too expensive . Moreover, the investors had financial problems (again, due to the 2008 financial crisis), so the ‘Vostok’ tower even stood unfinished for several years. Eventually, the cracked window panes were installed in their place.

7. The highest restaurant in Europe

‘Birds’, another restaurant in Moscow-City, is remarkable for its location. It was opened at the end of 2019 on the 84th floor of the ‘OKO’ complex’s southern tower. Guests at the restaurant can enjoy an amazing panoramic view at a height of 336 meters. On January 28, the experts of ‘Kniga Recordov Rossii’ (“Russian Records Book”) declared ‘Birds’ the highest restaurant in Europe, a step toward an application for a Guinness World Record.

Legal battle continues over 'Soviet Moscow' stickers

Jul. 17—A legal battle continues more than nine months after three members of a Moscow family were charged for allegedly purchasing and posting about 89 "Soviet Moscow" stickers on city of Moscow and private properties downtown.

Rory Wilson, 19, and his juvenile brother were each charged Oct. 10 with a misdemeanor count of "No Posting on Fences or Buildings or Poles" under Moscow City Code, and their father, Nathan Wilson, 42, was charged with misdemeanor "Principal to No Posting on Fences or Buildings or Poles" under the same city code, as well as Idaho code.

Rory and Nathan Wilson pleaded not guilty on Oct. 22 to their alleged offenses.

After subpoenas, motions, orders and several other actions over the subsequent months, Latah County Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall on June 18 denied Rory and Nathan Wilson's motions to dismiss the charges. Marshall decided the city code language prohibits the defendants' conduct and neither the code nor the prosecution violate the defendants' constitutional rights — both points the defense argued in its motions to dismiss.

The defense, represented by Lewiston attorney Samuel Creason, filed on July 2 a motion to appeal Marshall's decision to Latah County Second District Court. A motion hearing for Nathan and Rory Wilson is scheduled for Aug. 6 in front of District Court Judge John Judge.

According to Marshall's written decision, which included the facts of the case, Moscow police officers were dispatched to a report of two males placing "Soviet Moscow" stickers in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 in downtown Moscow. Officers made contact with Rory Wilson and his younger brother, who both informed officers they placed stickers, including on signs and poles, as a form of legal protest.

The court documents said Rory Wilson carried a pail containing red vinyl stickers displaying a hammer and sickle symbol akin to the USSR with the words "Soviet Moscow" or "Soviet Moscow: Enforced Because We Care." The youngest Wilson had several of the same stickers in his pockets. He said his father, Nathan Wilson, purchased the stickers, the documents said.

The stickers were developed in protest of Moscow's face covering/social distancing order, which the Moscow City Council terminated in May.

The stickers appeared to mock the city's "Mask Moscow: Enforced Because We Care" signs that were placed on the edges of town.

Officers searched the area and found about 89 of the "Soviet Moscow" stickers on city property and private property, including on parking signs, traffic and street lights, benches, newspaper kiosks, crosswalk lights, light poles, historical district signs, bike racks, trees, trash cans, concrete parking barriers, a U.S. mailbox and a utility box, the documents said.

Nathan Wilson informed officers he was aware his sons were going to put up the stickers but encouraged them not to place them on private property. The documents said the officers allowed the three to leave the scene together and did not issue a citation or arrest them. They were, however, cited four days later.

Four chalk drawings that mirrored the "Soviet Moscow: Enforced Because We Care" stickers were drawn in March downtown. Moscow Police Capt. Will Krasselt, who recently retired, said at the time that one of the drawings was on the sidewalk outside City Hall, two were at Friendship Square and one was on the corner of Third and Main streets.
