Anthony Bourdain: A Cook's Tour

Tony travels to Tokyo where he discovers a radically new cooking attitude. He visits Tokyos largest fresh fish market and is introduced to the culinary diets of Sumo wrestlers.

Rural Japan: Tony decides to look for a more relaxing, traditional Japanese culinary experience in the countryside. Tony travels to an old-style Japanese inn that specializes in kaiseki cuisine, ancient tea ceremony, and local ingredients.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam : After taking a cyclo ride through Ho Chi Minh City and trying various foods from roadside vendors and markets, Tony tests his might with a few shots of snake wine and a live cobra heart.

Mekong River, Vietnam: On the river, Tony drinks a lot of Mekong moonshine with the welcoming owners of a duck farm. Although seduced by his Vietnam experience, Tony is not sure the royal dish Birds Nest Soup is all its cracked up to be.

Cambodia: With a friend along for the ride, Tony travels to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he explores a food culture that is both pleasing to the palette and slightly frightening.

Cambodia and Japan: Taking his obsession with the film Apocalypse Now a little too seriously, Tony sets out for Pailin reputed to be one of the most dangerous towns on earth. After his journey, Tony returns to Japan.

A Cook's Tour is a travel and food show that aired on the Food Network. Host Anthony Bourdain visits exotic countries and cities worldwide where hosts treat him to local culture and cuisine. Two seasons of episodes were produced in 2000 and 2001 and aired first-run in 2001 and 2002 in the U.S. on the Food Network. In the summer of 2008, the Food Network stopped re-running the series and rolled out a completely overhauled website omitting all but a single reference to Anthony Bourdain from March 2008 entitled, "Anthony Bourdain's Rant", tagged under Food Network topics "vegetables" and "simmer," likely due to the emergence of Bourdain's similarly themed current series, No Reservations, on sister network Travel Channel. Questar Entertainment released a DVD box set of A Cook's Tour on DVD in January 2012. Early versions of this DVD box set are missing the episode TB1A04, Eating on the Mekong. Replacement DVDs are available from Questar starting in late February, 2012. As of March, 2012 episodes of A Cook's Tour have begun airing on the Travel Channel.

Taylor Swift wowed the Scottish crowd on her first UK tour date Friday evening, earning five-star reviews across the board for her three-and-a-half-hour performance in Edinburgh.

But the star had to break off during a song towards the end of the night, first to draw attention to a fan in the crowd who needed medical help, and then to recover from a temporary injury herself.

After massaging her hand for a few moments, Swift was able to continue, and the temporary blip did nothing to dampen the delight of 73,000 fans packed into the Murrayfield sports stadium in the Scottish capital city for the first date of the UK leg of Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour.

Swift told the crowd: “I had someone pull me aside and say, ‘Hey, we’ve checked this 20 times and we swear… tonight’s concert is the most highly attended stadium show in Scottish history.’”

And she delighted the Scottish fans telling them the country had inspired her lockdown albums Folklore and Evermore , saying:

“There was so much TV, so much white wine, covered in cat hair. That was my reality. So I thought, ‘I’m going to create an imaginary world and escape into it.’

“That was Folklore , and it was probably based online of videos I’ve seen of Scotland.”

The 51st Annual  Daytime Emmy Awards  are almost here, and we have the nominees!

The ceremony, which will be held in Los Angeles on Friday, June 7, honors the best in daytime TV, including talk shows, soap operas, travel and culinary programs and more.

"We are happy to once again honor the creative talent both in front of and behind the camera of America's favorite Daytime programs," said Adam Sharp, President and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in a press release. "We look forward to celebrating the icons who enliven the days of audiences across the country."

This year's nominations include nods for stars like Selena Gomez, Valerie Bertinelli and Zooey Deschanel for their culinary shows, as well as a nom for Robert Downey Jr.'s Max lifestyle series,  Downey's Dream Cars.

A 2023 Daytime Emmy winner , Entertainment Tonight is nominated once again in the Entertainment News category, seeking the show's ninth win, and hosts Kevin Frazier, Nischelle Turner, Matt Cohen, Cassie DiLaura, Denny Directo, Will Marfuggi and Rachel Smith were also nominated in the Daytime Personality category.

Apple TV+ announces “Omnivore,” a new documentary series created and narrated by world-renowned chef René Redzepi, premiering on July 19

Today, Apple TV+ announced the premiere date of the highly anticipated new documentary series “Omnivore” and provided a first look at the series, which is set to debut globally on July 19, 2024. Created and narrated by René Redzepi, the esteemed chef and co-owner of world-renowned restaurant Noma, “Omnivore” takes viewers on an immersive journey into the world of food, exploring the profound beauty and intricate complexities of the human experience through the lens of the key ingredients that connect us all.  

Each episode of “Omnivore” celebrates the cultivation, transformation and consumption of eight of the world's most essential ingredients, including bananas, chilies, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt and tuna, revealing how they serve as the cornerstones of global cultural heritage. Redzepi and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Matt Goulding (“Anthony Bourdain: Explore Parts Unknown”) guide audiences on a globe-spanning odyssey, unveiling intricate stories behind the ingredients that have shaped societies, cultures, beliefs and the course of human history. The series takes viewers to destinations around the world, including Denmark, Serbia, Thailand, Spain, Japan, Djibouti, Peru, South Korea, France, Colombia, India, Bali, Rwanda and Mexico, as well as locations throughout the United States. In each episode, Redzepi and various series contributors offer an intimate exploration of culinary traditions, showcasing local efforts to honor, conserve and protect Earth’s offerings.

Minnesota university students give behind-the-scenes look at campus life on "The College Tour"

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Two Minnesota colleges are the first schools in the state to be featured in a national TV show highlighting life on campus.

Kobe Forbes is one of 10 College of St. Benedict and St. John's University students and alumni who tell their stories on the 30-minute show. It aims to make the college selection process more accessible and inclusive.

Forbes came to Minnesota to study engineering physics from the Bahamas, a country that the institutions have had a relationship with for over 100 years. 

"This school actually played a very vital role in our country's history, trying to bring us up out of Black depression and oppression," Forbes said.

Recent political science graduate Claire Moonen grew up in Delano and had her own reason for choosing the Benedictine liberal arts schools.

"It was either the U of M or St. Ben's-St. John's and SaintBen's-St. John's was significantly cheaper," she said.

The growing costs of travel make "The College Tour" more relevant than ever, says host and executive producer Alex Boylan.

"For the average family to go on a college trip outside of their area, the average cost is $2,500 and so it's very few, a small percentage of people that have the ability to just travel around to every college they want to look at," said Boylan.

Luke Budzyn landed at St. John's after a friend on the Johnnie's football team invited him for a visit. The now rising senior immediately felt a sense of community.

"After a year I said dang, I really made the right decision here because the uniqueness and the community and the small class size and the passion that all the professors have here," Budzyn said.

Another benefit - the natural beauty surrounding the campus.

"I'm able to go after class, take my backpack, take my fishing pole, walk down to the beach and go catch some awesome fish," he said.

The numbers show CSB & JSU grads reel in great careers.

"Ninety percent of the students at both these institutions are graduating in four years. They really try to make that accessible and happen and how many are getting job offers while they're still in school was blowing us away," said Boylan.

The current and former students say they put nerves aside to inspire others by sharing their experiences.

"The College Tour" episode featuring the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video. In this new season, one Wisconsin school is also featured: UW Stevens Point. 

Derek James anchors Saturday and Sunday evening newscasts and contributes stories during the week on "The 4."
