Aerosmith Announce Rescheduled Dates for Peace Out Farewell Tour

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Aerosmith have announced rescheduled dates for their Peace Out farewell tour, which was suspended in September 2023 because Steven Tyler fractured his larynx. This new leg kicks off Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh and wraps up Feb. 26 in Buffalo, New York. They’ll once again be joined by the Black Crowes.

The band announced plans to wrap their career with one final tour in May 2023, but they played a mere three shows before Tyler severely hurt his larynx. “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” he wrote in a message to fans. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

The news comes more than six months after Aerosmith announced that the remainder of the previously scheduled Peace Out shows were to be postponed indefinitely due to Tyler’s injury, which the band had discovered was “more serious than initially thought.”

“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” the frontman wrote in a statement at the time. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can.”

“His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,” the band revealed in a separate statement. “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

About Aerosmith

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million albums around the world, produced genre-defining music videos such as “Amazing,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Livin’ On The Edge,” and “Love In An Elevator,” and launched extravagant record-shattering global tours, most recently with their smash hit Las Vegas residency. The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on “Walk This Way” and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. About The Black Crowes

In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker . Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do

Aerosmith announce new Farewell Tour dates as Steven Tyler returns after vocal injury

Aerosmith's Peace Out Farewell Tour will resume in September a year after it was abandoned

Steven Tyler singing onstage

Rock legends Aerosmith will return to the road this September, as their Peace Out Farewell Tour resumes almost exactly a year after being abandoned. The original dates were announced in May 2023 , but the trek faltered after just three shows, when Steven Tyler sustained damage to his vocal cords , leading to the cancellation of six shows.

Two weeks later the band postponed the rest of the tour when Tyler's injury was discovered to be more serious than initially thought, and that he'd fractured his larynx and would require a significant period of rest and recuperation.

"I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes , rocking with the best fans in the world," said Tyler at the time. "I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"

Now they're back. The tour will resume on September 20 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh PA, and run all the way through until February 26 next year, when the curtain will fall at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. The Black Crowes have again been confirmed as the support act, although they won't make the first night, when genre-bending YouTube sensation Teddy Swims will open.

The two opening shows in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are scheduled despite the venues having hosted shows on the truncated run of 2023 dates, perhaps in recognition that Tyler's voice wasn't up to par. Tickets for the original dates are still valid, while a general sale for unsold tickets begins on Friday April 12 at 10am local time via  Ticketmaster .

Aerosmith announces rescheduled farewell tour dates, including Oklahoma show: What to know

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Four-time Grammy Award winners Aerosmith have announced rescheduled dates for their "Peace Out Tour," including the farewell trek's Oklahoma show .

The diamond-certified rockers announced last spring plans for their 40-date farewell tour, but many of the dates had to be postponed to 2024 after frontman Steven Tyler sustained damage to his vocal cords and fractured his larynx during a New York gig last September.

The postponed Tulsa show has been rescheduled for Nov. 12 at the BOK Center, the band's team announced Wednesday.

Aerosmith's farewell tour to feature The Black Crowes

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band's "Peace Out Tour" will feature special guests The Black Crowes, who released "Happiness Bastards," their first album in nearly 14 years, in March.

Produced by Live Nation, the 40-date North American tour will include three new concerts in addition to the rescheduled dates. The tour is set to kick off Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh and include stops in arenas across the U.S. and Canada before wrapping Jan. 26, 2025, in Montreal, Quebec.

A highlight of the tour will be a stop in Boston for a special hometown show on New Year’s Eve 2024.

When the tour originally kicked off in September 2023, USA Today reported that “the band was in peak form for this victory lap." The 2024 run promises fans an electrifying show featuring Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits performed in an immersive 360-degree production.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the rock legends have sold more than 150 million albums around the world and produced iconic music videos like "Amazing," "Crazy," "Janie's Got A Gun," "Livin' On The Edge," and "Love In An Elevator." Aerosmith was the first rock band to create a commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on "Walk This Way" and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2001. In 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have its own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock 'N' Roller coaster starring Aerosmith.

When are tickets on sale for Aerosmith's rescheduled Oklahoma show?

All previously purchased tickets for Aerosmith's tour will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Ticketholders will receive information via email, according to a news release.

Tickets for the rescheduled Tulsa show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12 and will be available online at www.bokcenter.com .

Classic rockers Aerosmith has postponed all of its 2023 tour dates until next year due to singer Steven Tyler’s ongoing vocal cord and larynx problems.

The band had previously postponed its September tour dates, but now says that Tyler’s injuries are “more serious than initially thought.”

In canceling the September dates, the band had said that Tyler suffered an injury that caused “bleeding vocal cords.”

All 2023 dates on the “ Peace Out: The Farewell Tour ” now have been canceled and will be rescheduled for 2024. The new dates, the band says, will “be announced as soon as we know more.” All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available for those unable to attend once those dates are announced.

Tyler included his own message along with the band post: “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Today’s news comes just days after another classic rocker, Bruce Springsteen , postponed all 2023 tour dates for health reasons, in his case a peptic ulcer.

Aerosmith reschedules Peace Out farewell tour: Dates for 3 Florida shows, how to get tickets

aerosmith tour dates rescheduled 2023

Florida Aerosmith fans will wait just a bit longer to finally say peace out  to the iconic rock band.

The rockers, who postponed their Peace Out farewell tour  after only a few shows in September, will return for a 40-date run starting Sept. 20 of this year.

Three Florida shows are included in this new schedule, all seeing dates in the early half of 2025. As with the original dates,  The Black Crowes  will open for Aerosmith.

When are the new Florida dates for Aerosmith's 'Peace Out' farewell tour? They also added an extra city

The new dates for the Florida shows are:

  • Friday, Feb. 14 - Tampa, Amelie Arena
  • Monday, Feb. 17 - Sunrise, Amerant Bank Arena

In addition to rescheduling the tour, the band added three cities: Pittsburgh, Orlando and Philadelphia, where their tour kicked off last September.

The Orlando date is Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the Kia Arena, recently renamed from the Amway Center.

Why did Aerosmith have to postpone 2023 tour dates? What happened to Steven Tyler?

On Sept. 12, Tyler initially  announced  that he had a severe vocal injury that occurred during Aerosmith's Saturday show in Long Island, New York.

“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler, 75, said in a  statement  released by the band on Monday. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.

However, the band shared in a statement two weeks later that said “Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”

They shared the rock icon was receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but "given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

I bought tickets to Aerosmith's 2023 shows. Will my tickets be honored?

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates, while tickets for the new shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time April 12 via  ticketmaster.com .

For those who previously purchased tickets and cannot attend the rescheduled concerts, refunds will be available at point of purchase. A series of VIP packages are also available at  aerosmith.com/VIP.

What songs can fans expect to hear at Aerosmith’s farewell shows?

USA TODAY attended the opening show in Philadelphia last year. While there could be changes to the set list, here's what it looked like prior to the postponement:

  • "Back in the Saddle"
  • "Love in an Elevator"
  • "Janie's Got a Gun"
  • "Adam's Apple"
  • "Livin' on the Edge"
  • "No More No More"
  • "Hangman Jury"
  • "Seasons of Wither"
  • "Movin' Out"
  • "Stop Messin' Around"
  • "Rats in the Cellar"
  • "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
  • "Sweet Emotion"
  • "Toys in the Attic"
  • "Walk This Way"

Are all original Aerosmith members on tour?

Original drummer  Joey Kramer  will be sitting out the band's final tour. John Douglas, Aerosmith's former drum tech, is filling Kramer's seat.

“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed,” the band said in a statement.

However, fans can look forward to Tyler's yowl and his fellow Toxic Twin, Joe Perry, on the guitar. Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton remain on guitar and bass.

How to buy Aerosmith tickets - Peace Out: Farewell tour dates and prices

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Update: Aerosmith postponed their current tour due to Steven Tyler suffering a vocal chord injury that's turned out to be a bit more serious than originally thought. Original dates were supposed to be rescheduled for January/February, but that hasn't happened. We'll keep an eye on the situation, but you can also check in on StubHub and Vivid Seats for the latest details on rearranged dates, too.

Original article follows:

Aerosmith are embarking on their 2023-2024 Peace Out: Farewell Tour. The world-famous rock band formed in 1970 is on their final tour as they celebrate over 50 years of music and legendary songs. While the tour has already begun, we can show you how to buy Aerosmith tickets for all the remaining shows.

Following ten world tours and numerous number one hits throughout their 53-year career, Aerosmith are taking their final bow as they travel across North America for the group's bittersweet goodbye. The Peace Out: Farewell Tour kicked off on September 2 in Philadelphia, with the concert series set to include 40 shows. However, Aerosmith announced on September 11 that six shows would be postponed due to lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal cords being injured.

Aerosmith band members on the Farewell Tour include lead vocalist Steven Tyler, guitarist and backing vocalist Joe Perry, bass player Tom Hamilton, guitar player Brad Whitford, keyboardist Buck Johnson, and drummer John Douglas. So far, the tour's setlist has included the band's classic hits such as "Sweet Emotion," "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," and "Dream On."

If you're looking to buy Aerosmith's Peace Out: Farewell Tour tickets, we've got you covered. Here's our breakdown of Aerosmith's remaining tour schedule throughout 2023 and 2024, purchasing details, and resale and original ticket prices. Or you can browse through the available tickets left through StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Aerosmith 2023/2024 tour schedule

Aerosmith's Peace Out: Farewell Tour has 37 concert dates remaining across 2023 and 2024. The band will head to a new city for each performance across North America. So far, only six concerts have been postponed to 2024 due to Tyler's injury: Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC, Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland. We have all the rescheduled dates at the end of the table below for you.

While the Farewell Tour will include two stops in Canada, all other shows will be held in the United States. All concert times are listed in local time zones.

How to buy tickets for Aerosmith's 2023 concert tour

You can purchase original tickets to Aerosmith's 2023 Peace Out: Farewell Tour through Ticketmaster , although only a select number still remain for each show. Also, tickets still available on Ticketmaster are typically more expensive than those that can be found on verified resale platforms such as StubHub and Vivid Seats.

On the lower end, standard tickets to Aerosmith's 2023 tour on StubHub begin at approximately $61 to $239, depending on the date and venue. Meanwhile, the cheaper tickets available on Vivid Seats range from about $57 to $223, similarly varying by concert venue and date. When accounting for VIP packages, the cost increases significantly on each purchasing platform.

How much are Aerosmith tickets?

The prices for original Aerosmith concert tickets have risen since first becoming available on Ticketmaster . Additionally, the cost of an original ticket varies depending on the demand for a particular location and date.

For instance, among the cheapest prices on Ticketmaster for a standard original ticket to the 2023 Peace Out: Farewell Tour is $54.95 for Aerosmith's Raleigh, North Carolina show on February 26. Meanwhile, the cheapest original standard ticket price for their Boston show on New Year's Eve costs $551.95 due to location, date, and demand. However, the number of standard original tickets remaining for the concerts is dwindling, so you may have better luck with verified resales.

There are also three VIP packages for Aerosmith's 2023 Peace Out: Farewell Tour at varying prices. The packages include the Aerosmith THX Certified PIT VIP Experience,  Aerosmith Gold Seat VIP Package, and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry VIP Meet & Greet Upgrade. At Aerosmith's San Jose concert, the Gold Seat package costs $595.95, while the Gold Star package at Newark costs between $599.95 and $649.95. Here's a breakdown of the various Aerosmith VIP packages from Ticketmaster's website .

Original prices typically come in much higher than resale prices for Aerosmith concerts. Many of the cheaper tickets are verified resales for concert dates further away, suggesting you might find the best prices by purchasing sooner rather than later.

Who is opening for Aerosmith's tour?

The opening act for Aerosmith for each concert on the 2023-2024 Peace Out: Farewell Tour will be performed by The Black Crowes. The band's biggest hits include songs like "She Talks to Angels," "Remedy," and "Kickin' My Heart Around."

Will there be international tour dates?

At the time of writing, it seems Aerosmith will not be embarking on an international leg for their Peace Out: Farewell Tour. Instead, the tour appears to be exclusively set in North America, with the only two international dates being in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.

Recent tour reviews

I have been an Aerosmith fan since I was 2 years old, back in 1974, and I used to try to swerve my hips back 'n' forth à la Steven Tyler.

I have only had the chance to see them 3 times in my life, and it seems that every time they come in concert life whisks me away some place else!

So now I'm in Cyprus for a long time coming... and nearly nobody ever comes out to this little (amazing) island at the end of the Mediterranean sea. It's unfortunate as there are some true fans out here, and I'm sure the band would love to make a pitstop in this paradisal place.

@Aerosmith - PLEASE COME!!! It really is worth it here.

I have seen Aerosmith over 30 times!!! I am from Fl., in 2015 they didn't come to the east coast. So I went to the 2nd to last concert of "The Blue Army Tour" in Hildago,Tx.

It was the best concert by them that I have seen yet.

3rd row 3rd seat, Steven Tyler seemed and acted like he was a 25-year-old .

After 30 times of seeing them I felt like it was my 1st. He threw his harmonica to me and I went nuts.

I have to say that it was the highlight of my life. Next to having my son it was the best day of my life.

I can hardly wait until they come again.......it won't be soon enough.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler rocks out in concert.

Way back in May 2023, Aerosmith announced their ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour.’

However, after lead singer Steven Tyler sustained vocal damage just three shows into the tour last September, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group had to postpone the tour indefinitely.

Fans waited for months with nary any news until April 10.

On that date, the band officially announced the rescheduled dates for the ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour’ featuring The Black Crowes and Teddy Swims on select dates.

They made sure to include make-up dates in New York and New Jersey, too.

First, the “Walk This Way” rockers will swoop into Newark, NJ’s  Prudential Center  on Saturday, Dec. 28. After that, they’re slated to pop into New York’s  Madison Square Garden  on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 and Buffalo’s  KeyBank Center on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2025.

What might be most exciting about the goodbye jaunt though is just how affordable tickets are.

At the time of publication, ticket prices start at $49 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $58 to $148 before fees.

Curious how much tickets will cost to sing “Dream On” at the concert closest to you?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Aerosmith’s 2024 ‘Peace Out Farewell Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Aerosmith tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all North American tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Aerosmith band members

The original Aerosmith lineup won’t be fully intact on this run of concerts.

Yes, lead singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton and rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford are slated to perform at all shows.

However, drummer Joey Kramer will be sitting this run of shows out to “focus his attention on his family and health” according to  AP News .

Kramer, 72, will be replaced by John Douglas who has drummed with the band since 2019.

Aerosmith set list

Aerosmith got three shows deep into their ‘Peace Out’ Farewell Tour before postponing.

For a closer look, here’s what they played at a recent live show courtesy of  Set List FM :

01.) “Back in the Saddle” 02.) “Same Old Song and Dance” 03.) “Rag Doll” 04.) “Livin’ on the Edge” 05.) “Janie’s Got a Gun” 06.) “No More No More” 07.) “Cryin’” 08.) “Adam’s Apple” 09.) “Hangman Jury” 10.) “Seasons of Wither” 11.) “Movin’ Out” 12.) “Love in an Elevator” 13.) “Stop Messin’ Around” (Fleetwood Mac cover) 14.) “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” 15.) “Rats in the Cellar” 16.) “Sweet Emotion” 17.) “Toys in the Attic”

18.) “Dream On” 19.) “Walk This Way”

The Black Crowes

On all dates except their opener when they’ll perform with Teddy Swims, Aerosmith will be joined by  The Black Crowes  aka Rolling Stone’s “best new band of 1990.”

The band, known for mega hits “Hard To Handle” and “She Talks To Angels,” is also conducting a solo tour of their own this year including a show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on April 27.

Steven Tyler controversy

In 1973, the 25-year-old Tyler was given guardianship of 16-year-old Julia Holcomb so the two could live together.

After a tumultuous three-year relationship, the two broke up.

Nearly 50 years later, Holcomb — who now goes by Julia Misley — filed a lawsuit in December 2022. In the suit, she claimed Tyler sexually assaulted her, forced her to abort their child, and convinced her to drink and take drugs after he promised to serve as her guardian.

In the trial, Tyler alleged the relationship was consensual and had immunity because of his guardian status.

Legal experts have since said “caregiver immunity” does not exist if you sexually abuse the person you’ve taken in.

“The lawsuit came in the final days of California’s Child Victims Act, which temporarily lifted the statute of limitations for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to come forward with their allegations,”  Consequence of Sound  reported.

Jeanne Bellino, another minor that was sexually abused by Tyler in the 1970s, also filed a lawsuit against him; US District Judge Lewis Kaplan threw the case out this February because she “had waited too long to sue Tyler under a New York City law protecting victims of gender-motivated violence,”  Reuters  wrote.

“(Kaplan) said Bellino did not qualify for a two-year window to pursue claims that would otherwise extend beyond statutes of limitations, because she did not allege that Tyler’s conduct posed a “serious risk of physical injury.”

Steven Tyler The Black Crowes London 2024

Ladies and gentlemen, Steven Tyler is back.

aerosmith tour dates rescheduled 2023

After previously postponing the the bulk of their final run last year, Aerosmith finally confirmed their rescheduled Peace Out Tour dates last month. While the tour kicked off last fall to rave reviews and praise from fans, frontman Steven Tyler sustained a fractured larynx during the band’s performance at UBS Arena on September 9, 2023, just three shows into the band’s 40-date grand finale. As it turns out, Tyler’s recovery has taken longer than expected.

“To our fans: unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the band said in a statement at the time. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.”

“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” Steven Tyler said. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Now, Aerosmith have announced the new round of dates. The Peace Out trek resumes on September 20 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they already played at the start of the original run. The group will also be returning for an encore at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where the tour kicked off last year (check out highlights from the show in the clip below). A third addition to the trek will be a performance at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on February 11, 2025. The band will wrap up the 40-date trek on February 26, 2025, taking their final bows at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The Black Crowes are still serving as special guests for the entire tour. Opening night in Pittsburgh will feature a special performance by Teddy Swims to kick off the evening, stepping in for The Black Crowes.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled shows. Ticketholders will receive more information via email today [April 10]. Refunds will be available at point of purchase for fans who are unable to attend the new dates. Fans are encouraged to reach out to Live Nation/Ticketmaster, or the third party entities (e.g. StubHub, Vivid Seats, etc.) with any questions regarding refunds. Tickets for the rescheduled dates and newly added shows are on sale this Friday, April 12 at 10am local time. The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include a premium reserved ticket, limited edition merchandise and more.

While the band has been touring for over five decades, there’s still plenty of tracks that haven’t seen the lights of a stage yet. At the third stop of the Peace Out Tour at UBS Arena in New York, Aerosmith played a Draw the Line rarity, “Bright Light Fright , “ for the first time in 29 years. Guitarist Joe Perry handled the vocal duties. When the tour resumes in September, there’s still a tone of tunes that the band has never broken out of the their vault. Maybe when the Peace Out Tour resumes, the band will surprise fans with a song or two from this list of tracks that they have never played live.

“We’re going to open up Pandora’s box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out Tour,” Tyler said when the trek was announced, referencing the band’s 1991 compilation box set. “Be there or be aware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready!”

Drummer Joey Kramer decided not to take part in the band’s final tour initially. While he is still considered part of the group, Kramer took a leave of absence from the band’s Vegas residency last year to “focus his his attention on his family and health” and will continue to sit out the band’s final run.” Drummer John Douglas filled in for Kramer during the the first three dates of the original Peace Out Tour, and it appears that he will continue to sit behind the kit this fall with the run resumes.

When the original trek was announced, Aerosmith stated, “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers wrapped up their landmark Deuces Are Wild Residency in Las Vegas back in 2022, and played a special 50th anniversary show at Fenway Park. Now, fans are finally getting to witness the celebrations for themselves.

Aerosmith have 12 multi-platinum certified albums under their belt. To date, the band has garnered four GRAMMY® Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. In 1999, Walt Disney World launched the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, the band’s very own theme park attraction. In 2001, they performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Throughout a career that spans over five decades, the rock ‘n’ roll legends have sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling American rock act of all time. Their music has transcended generations, and while they’ve been selling records since 1973, they band has just achieved a monumental modern-day milestone.

While vinyl and CDs have seen a tremendous resurgence over the last ten years, streaming has become monstrous manner by which people consume music. Since the launch of Spotify back in 2006, many artists have amassed hundreds of thousands of streams, and some hundreds of millions. Few, however, have achieved the rare achievement that Aerosmith just did – having a single song surpass 1 billion streams.

One of the band’s biggest hits, “Dream On,” has amassed 1,001,249,355 streams on Spotify. It’s a testament not only to the band’s legacy, but to their ability to achieve success in a new age and remain relevant right up to their farewell tour. The fact that “Dream On” is one of the greatest songs ever written makes this milestone a little bit less surprising.

After inking a deal with Columbia Records, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut album on January 5, 1973. Anchored by the lead single, “Dream On,” the album hit No. 21 on the Billboard 200. The seminal “Dream On” hit No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and dominated rock radio stations around the country.

“The music for ‘Dream On was originally written on a Steinway upright piano in the living room of Trow-Rico lodge in Sunapee [New Hampshire], maybe four years before Aerosmith even started,” frontman Steven Tyler recalls in the Aerosmith biography, Walk This Way , by Stephen Davis. “I was seventeen or eighteen […] It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything […] It’s about dreaming until your dreams come true.”

Last month, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash released a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor , ” the lead single from his upcoming blues covers album,  Orgy of the Damned . The track features AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on vocals, and Steven Tyler on harmonica. The record arrives on May 17 through Gibson Records.

The band also announced in March celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the seminal sophomore outing,  Get Your Wings (1974). To commemorate the milestone, Aerosmith to releasing a limited edition LP numbered 1-1974 on 180g custom color “gold sparkle” vinyl, featuring an embossed gold foil jacket, a 70’s-era logo sticker and a vintage ad replica inside. Each copy is uniquely numbered with gold foil and encased in black poly-lined sleeves, preserving the quality and sound of this iconic album. Includes the classics “Same Old Song And Dance,” “Train Kept A Rollin’,” “Lord Of The Thighs,” “Seasons of Wither” and more. All new merchandise is available for pre-order now, releasing on May 17.

Aerosmith’s  Get Your Wings  is certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. It marked the band’s first collaboration with producer Jack Douglas, who went on to produce the group’s next three iconic albums. Douglas was instrumental in shaping the sound that would define America’s greatest rock band for decades to come. Recorded at Record Plant studios in New York City, Aerosmith launched a tour supporting the album on March 9, 1974 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, Massachusetts. The 74-show trek across the United States put Aerosmith on the map.

Watch: AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Joins THE BLACK CROWES For 'Mama Kin' Performance In London

AEROSMITH 's Steven Tyler joined THE BLACK CROWES on stage earlier tonight (Wednesday, May 15) at Eventim Apollo in London, United Kingdom to perform a version of AEROSMITH 's 1973 classic "Mama Kin" .

Tyler 's appearance came at the end of THE BLACK CROWES ' concert at the 3500-capacity venue, which was part of the band's ongoing U.K. tour.

Fan-filmed video of the "Mama Kin" performance can be seen below (courtesy of Tales From The PowerAge LIVE ).

Last month, AEROSMITH announced the rescheduled dates for the band's "Peace Out" farewell tour. The trek will kick off on September 20 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the legendary Massachusetts rockers played at the start of last year's original run, and will include a return appearance at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 41-date tour will conclude on February 26, 2025 at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Support on the trek will once again come from THE BLACK CROWES , who recently released their new album, "Happiness Bastards" .

AEROSMITH postponed the original "Peace Out" farewell tour dates after Tyler suffered vocal cord damage in September 2023. The news came two weeks after AEROSMITH postponed six shows on the trek in order to allow Tyler time to recover from his injury.

Prior to the launch of "Peace Out" , AEROSMITH wrapped its critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Ahead of the residency, AEROSMITH returned to its hometown in Boston to perform a record-breaking one-off show at Fenway Park as part of the legendary band's 50th anniversary celebrations. With over 38,700 people in attendance, it was the most tickets sold to date for a show at the iconic venue.

In May 2022, AEROSMITH announced that Tyler had entered a treatment program following a relapse, prompting the band to put their Las Vegas residency on a temporary hold.

Tyler had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the course of the last four decades, he had relapsed several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009.

Steven Tyler Joins the Black Crowes Onstage in London Months After Fracturing Larynx

T he Aerosmith frontman fractured his larynx in September 2023, forcing his band to reschedule dates for the remainder of their Peace Out farewell tour

  • On Wednesday, May 15, Steven Tyler performed onstage with the Black Crowes for the first time since recovering from fracturing his larynx in September 2023
  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's injury forced his band, Aerosmith, to postpone dates for their Peace Out farewell tour
  • The tour is set to resume in September with a new set of dates

Steven Tyler is on the mend and back to performing after fracturing his larynx last year.

The Aerosmith frontman, 76, joined the legendary rock band the Black Crowes onstage for a surprise performance at London’s Eventim Apollo on Wednesday, May 15, his first since sustaining a vocal cord injury that forced his band to pause their Peace Out farewell tour in 2023.

“If it is alright with y’all, we wanna play one more song,” Crowes frontman Chris Robinson said while introducing Tyler, per SPIN . “We wanna dedicate it to somebody who is a dear friend and a hero and a legend, Mr. Steven Tyler. We will be touring with Aerosmith soon, so we wanna play one of his songs.”

Tyler and the band then closed out the show by tearing into a cover of the 1973 Aerosmith classic, “Mama Kin.” The former looked rather lively as he performed, seemingly back in good health and ready to hit the road again following months of recovery.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also posed for a photo with the Black Crowes, plus Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, where he was all smiles. “Rock Royalty Reigned last night at the #HappinessBastardsTour at the @eventimapollo in London. @iamstevent @jimmypage @aerosmith @ledzeppelin,” the band captioned an Instagram post .

Back in February, Tyler shared an update on his vocal injury while hosting his fifth annual Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party — which benefits his non-profit Janie's Fund, created to help girls who have experienced abuse and neglect.

"My throat's been better, but it is on the mend," he told attendees. "And out of all things, I've decided to take the advice not from my doctors, but from the girls at Janie's house."

In May 2023, Aerosmith confirmed rumors of a farewell tour by announcing Peace Out , an originally scheduled, 40-city North American concert run celebrating their monumental career.

"After 50 years, 10 world tours and playing for over 100 million fans, it's time for one last go," a release said of the news. Bandmates Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford added in a joint statement, "It's not goodbye it's PEACE OUT!”

The announcement continued, “Get ready and walk this way, you're going to get the best show of our lives."

By mid-September 2023, a few weeks after Aerosmith’s tour kicked off in Philadelphia , the Rock in a Hard Place band revealed that Tyler had received doctor’s orders “not to sing for the next 30 days,” which forced them to postpone a handful of scheduled shows that month in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Cleveland to 2024.

In a since-deleted Instagram statement posted at the beginning of the month, Tyler shared, “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

But things only got worse for the "Angel" artist from there, as it was later revealed that he’d fractured his larynx, forcing Aerosmith to pause their farewell tour altogether.

“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the “Sweet Emotion” rockers wrote in a statement on social media later that month. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”

They continued, “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential."

Tyler closed out the announcement by telling fans, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Shows for the Peace Out tour have since been rescheduled. In April, Aerosmith announced a new set of dates that will resume later this year and run until January 2025.

Tyler’s vocal cord injury comes after he entered a treatment program amid a relapse in May 2022 after undergoing foot surgery to prepare for his band’s Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas residency . The “Dream On” singer’s health issues affected that slate of shows as well, as the band was forced to cancel shows that December.

In a statement, Tyler updated fans on his health and said, "On the advice of my doctor, I'm taking more time to rest. There is nowhere we'd rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world."
