Blue is a popular English pop and R&B group that have sold over 16 million records worldwide, formed in 2000 in London, England.
In 1999, having met at an audition for a boy band managed by Simon Cowell, Lee Ryan and Antony Costa kept in touch and a year later invited Duncan James to start a band. It wasn’t long before the trio impressed Daniel Glatman, who later became their manager, and invited Ryan’s flatmate Simon Webbe to complete the line up. The band signed a contract with Innocent Records and Blue’s output was put in reliable hands of numerous songwriting/production teams. Penned by Norwegian pop team Stargate, Blue’s debut single “All Rise” took the UK by storm and rose to No. 4 in the UK Singles chart in May 2001. The band’s subsequent single “If You Come Back” became Blue’s first No. 1 single and paved the way for their debut album “All Rise” issued in December 2001. The album, aided by the Christmas season, topped the UK Albums chart and went on to sell over 1.8 million copies.
Like its predecessor Blue’s sophomore album “One Love” debuted the UK Albums chart at No. 1 spawning the singles “One Love”, “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” featuring Elton John, and “U Make Me Wanna”. The album cemented the group’s position in the sugary-pop world, however borrowed influences from rock, funk, R&B and soul. The band’s third full-length album “Guilty” appeared in 2003 and once again topped the UK Album Chart, however showed signs that the Blue bubble losing momentum. Led by the title track “Guilty” and subsequent “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” featuring Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone, the album went on to sell over a million copies.
The greatest hits album “Best of Blue” hit the shelves towards the tail end of 2004, spawning the singles “Curtain Falls”, “Get Down on It”, and “Only Words I Know”. In 2005 the band announced a hiatus, allowing members to focus on their solo careers. Blue returned in 2009 with a performance at the Silverstone Classic festival in August and announced they would represent the UK at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with their single “I Can”. In 2012 the band embarked on a tour alongside A1 and Jeff Timmons entitled “Boybands: The Greatest Hits Tour.
With contributions from R&B singers Ne-Yo and Bruno Mars, Blue released their fourth studio album “Roulette” in April 2013. Led by their single “Hurt Loves”, the album charted at No. 13 in the UK Albums chart and No. 14 in Germany. In support of “Roulette” the band embarked on “The Roulette Tour”, Blue’s fourth headlining tour across the UK and Europe. Blue subsequently released the album “Colours” in March 2015, led by the single “King of the World”.
Live reviews
Like Five - or should that be 5ive? - before them, Blue proved to be one of those boy bands who enjoyed huge success within a relatively short-lived period of time; it’s incredible to think that their initial run actually only lasted five years, between 2000 and 2005, because they packed so much commercial triumph into that period; all three of their albums during that period went platinum multiple times, and they spawned a slew of number one singles, too; the R&B-tinged sound that the group aimed for set them apart from most of their contemporaries at the time, and tapped into the success of that genre whilst simultaneously exploiting the typical pop market. After splitting in 2005 to pursue other projects - Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe had briefly successful solo careers, whilst Antony Costa was best-known for being ridiculed on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, they made several aborted attempts to reform before ITV2’s The Big Reunion catapulted them back into the spotlight; they managed to route a tour of their own with a full live band late last year, and they’ll swap those intimate venues for an arena jaunt along with the likes of Five later this year, as part of their Big Reunion commitments.

One for the money and the free ride it's two for the times you lied, all rise! Who doesn't enjoy the nostalgic early 00's music of Blue? The UK boyband really made their mark with an R & B infused pop sound that was far more danceable than their contemporaries of the time including Westlife and Boyzone.
Unfortunately the success was short-lived and following an atrocious Eurovision entry the boys parted to work on separate projects. They cemented their return in 2013 with a solid, mature album entitled 'Roulette' and with this the original lineup took to the road to reacquaint themselves with a delighted fanbase. The four men may be older yet they can still dance having all gone on intense fitness regimes and are looking better than ever. The show is imaginably OTT including video interludes, scantily clad dancers and huge amounts of lasers yet favourites such as 'Fly By II' and 'If You Come Back' really do steal the show when performed. The brilliant encore of 'All Rise' has the whole venue singing as one momentous unit and proves that the group clearly had reason to return.

Movie Reviews
Tv/streaming, collections, great movies, chaz's journal, contributors, blue collar comedy tour: the movie.
Now streaming on:
"Suppose you get caught and you're thrown back in. What do you tell your buddies? 'Man, I had an out-of-the-body experience. I was just minding my own business, living my life, when suddenly I felt myself under the control of a powerful force. I was drawn up toward the light. I went through a hole in the sky, and found myself surrounded by all my dead relatives. And God was wearing a flannel shirt and a Budweiser hat.'" The humor in that story is typical of all four performers in "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie," a concert film starring Foxworthy, Bill Engvall , Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. I am informed that their national tour, just closing after four years, is the most successful in history, although whose history is not specified, and all tours say that. Certainly they're popular, and this film, which is kind of a redneck version of " The Original Kings of Comedy ," is the way to see them without having to find your car in the middle of all the pickups in the parking lot.
White and Cable Guy are the warm-ups, Foxworthy and Engvall are the stars, and then all four come on stage to share stories and listen to Foxworthy's redneck litany. ("If the wedding rehearsal dinner is at Hooter's--you know you're a redneck.") His uncle is such a NASCAR fan, he always gets into his car through the window.
But there I go, stealing his material. How do you review a movie like this without reprinting the jokes? The film consists of four concert segments, interlarded with "documentary" footage of the four buddies fishing, visiting Victoria's Secret, etc. The concert stuff is consistently funny, good-humored and surprisingly clean; there's a lot more bathroom humor than sex or profanity, and the PG-13 rating is probably about right.
I do have some doubts about the other stuff. When they go shopping for underwear at Victoria's Secret, the sales clerk is played by supermodel Heidi Klum, which clues us that it's a setup and probably halfway scripted. What's the point? Why not let the boys walk into a real Victoria's Secret and start filming and see what happens? I was also a little puzzled by the role played by David Alan Grier , as the chauffeur and valet. Why have a recognizable star and not make any use of him? These are minor quibbles. The underlying secret of the four comedians is the way they find humor in daily life, and in their families. In this they're a lot like the Kings of Comedy, and Engvall (the "here's your sign" guy) gets as much mileage out of his family as K of C's Bernie Mac .
OK, I got a couple more. I liked the whole riff about leaf-blowers being banned from airplanes. And I suppose it is thought-provoking that nobody ever has to stop to pee while tubing down a river.
