11 tips for visiting Apple's $5 billion headquarters, Apple Park

The stunning building is completely circular and features walls made out of glass. Inside of the building, which is one mile in circumfrence, Apple employees are busy working on the company's next big thing, like the new iPhones expected to come out this September.

This means Apple Park is a special place for Apple fans and devotees. Many flock to Cupertino, California, about an hour south of San Francisco, every day to get a glimpse of what some call "the spaceship."

Here are a few tips to get the most out of visiting where Apple's magic happens:

1. You'll probably need a car to get there.

There isn't much public transit in Silicon Valley, so tourists will need to find a way to get there from San Francisco or San Jose. A car is easiest.

2. The actual campus isn't open to the public. You can walk around the perimeter, but you can't get inside to see either the "spaceship" building or the on-campus theater where Apple launches new products.

Apple CEO Tim Cook explained why there aren't tours for the public earlier this year.

3. But there is a visitor's center that's open to the public. It's free to the public, located across the street from the campus, and there's plenty of parking.

It's located at 10600 N Tantau Ave, Cupertino, CA 95014, and you can find hours and other details at Apple's website .

4. The visitor's center is an Apple store, but there's a lot to do there, including an AR experience, exclusive merchandise, and a cafe.

5. Don't miss the Apple Park augmented reality experience, which lets you peek into the campus through an iPad.

6. There are Apple Park T-shirts and other accessories you can't get anywhere else.

The shirts and other swag are a little bit pricey.

7. If you need a pick-me-up, there's a cafe in the visitor's center with snacks and coffee. On a weekday morning, you might see Apple employees taking meetings in the sunny cafe, and the WiFi is fast and reliable.

Here's the menu — on an iPad, naturally.

8. The visitor's center is an Apple store, so you can buy an iPad, iPhone, or Mac if you wish — or a charger if you left yours at home. There is no Genius Bar or repairs available at the Apple Park visitor's center, though.

9. It's easy to miss the upstairs roof deck, but it's the highlight of the visitor's center. Look for the Jony Ive-designed stairs.

Once you're on the roof, you get the closest view of Apple Park available to the public.

That's a glimpse of a $5 billion building between the trees.

10. It's a great place to take photos.

The best views of Apple Park are still from the air, though.

11. and if you still can't get enough apple, infinite loop, apple's old headquarters, is a 6-minute drive away..

There's an Apple store here open to the public, too. And it's where the iPhone was invented.

Complete guide to Apple Park

Welcome to our complete guide to Apple Park, the extravagant, multibillion-dollar new campus headquarters that the company has almost finished building in Cupertino, California. It’s an impressive building – but not everyone is happy .

Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world, so it’s no surprise that it is fast outgrowing its current headquarters at One Infinite Loop in Cupertino, California. As a result, Apple has spent years building a new HQ. (It’s since announced plans for a second campus , incidentally.)

The new campus is officially named Apple Park. (Before this was announced, the building was widely known as the ‘Spaceship Campus’ because of its flying-saucer-like design.) It’s located on the former Hewlett Packard campus.

When will Apple Park be finished?

Construction was scheduled to be finished by the end of 2017, and the large-scale building work was mostly done earlier than this. Even now there is still plenty of exterior landscaping to be done, however. Jump down to the section of this article where we post aerial drone videos to see the latest progress.

Since April 2017, the 175-acre campus has reportedly been welcoming employees, but it’s set to take more than six months to move all 12,000 employees into the new site, and some construction will continue over the summer even as employees move in.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Apple design chief Jony Ive revealed that his team would be moving in during the autumn of 2017, and will be among the last teams to move to the new campus.

There will be major product launches at Apple Park before long.

Indeed, one of the most important additions to the Park is the Steve Jobs Theater, which is likely to be the only part of the building we see regularly. It’s a 1,000-seat auditorium located on a hill, one of the highest points within the Apple Park, and will no doubt be the site of the company’s future product launches – something Apple promised at its ‘ ‘Let us loop you in’ launch event in March 2016.

How much did Apple Park cost?

It was originally estimated that the campus would cost half a billion dollars; the land alone cost $160 million. But (as is generally the case with large building projects), costs have overrun. The budget for the new spaceship-like headquarters ballooned to a little under $3 billion in 2011 and almost $5 billion by 2013, although at this point it was reported that Apple was looking at ways to trim this by a billion.

Apple is known for its exacting demands when it comes to design, materials and so on, but the spiralling costs of this project have caused some controversy. Back in 2013, it was reported that angry shareholders were attacking the project and labelling it as wildly extravagant.

Then again, Apple can probably afford it. A final spend of $5bn is a huge outlay but would still represent only about 2.3 percent of Apple’s gargantuan cash reserves: $215bn in January 2016.

Energy efficiency & green credentials

During the March 2016 event, Apple CEO Tim Cook said: “Steve’s vision for Apple stretched far beyond his time with us. He intended Apple Park to be the home of innovation for generations to come. The workspaces and parklands are designed to inspire our team as well as benefit the environment. We’ve achieved one of the most energy-efficient buildings in the world, and the campus will run entirely on renewable energy.”

Most of the power for the facilities will come from an “on-site low carbon Central Plant”, according to an Apple Insider report . The structure is outfitted with solar panels around the top of the building, too.

Additionally, 7,000 trees are set to surround the campus. Apple has hired a leading arborist from Stanford University to help landscape the area and restore some of the indigenous plant life, including apricot orchards.

The new campus will reportedly use recycled water, too, and will use 13,300 feet of pipeline to share the supply between it and Cupertino.

Design, layout and facilities

British firm Foster+Partners is the architects of this colossal building. Previous projects include Wembley Stadium, Canary Wharf Underground Station, Stansted Airport, London’s Millennium Bridge, HSBC HQ at Canary Wharf, the Maclaren Technology Centre and the Hearst Tower in New York.

In an interview with Architectural Record, Foster+Partners founder and chairman Norman Foster explained that he was inspired by the idea of a London square, where houses surround a park. This eventually evolved into the present design: a circular structure surrounding a large outdoor park.

Foster also explained that, when planning the layout of the building, the architects had to consider the different departments that would need to work together, and considered vertical proximities as well as horizontal ones.

“Of course, you have got an enormous range of skills in this building: from software programmers to designers, marketing, retail,” he said. “But you can move vertically in the building as well as horizontally. The proximity, the adjacencies are very, very carefully considered.”

This open-plan layout used in much of the building – with most employees situated around large tables instead of separated into individual offices – is intended to promote collaboration. But it hasn’t gone down well with everyone.

John Gruber has reported hearing from numerous staff members who are unhappy with the setup.

“Judging from the private feedback I’ve had from some Apple employees,” he said, “I’m 100 percent certain there’s going to be some degree of attrition based on the open floor plans. Where good employees are going to choose to leave because they don’t want to work there.”

One of Apple’s VPs, indeed, went further.

“When [senior VP of hardware technologies Johny Srouji] was shown the floor plans, he was more or less just ‘F— that, f— you, f— this, this is bulls—.’ And they built his team their own building, off to the side on the campus… My understanding is that that building was built because Srouji was like, ‘F—- this, my team isn’t working like this.”

Apple Park, which is more than a mile around, also includes a visitor centre, with an Apple Store and café open to the public.

That’s in addition to a 100,000-square-foot fitness centre for Apple employees, 300,000 square feet of secure research and development facilities, and two miles of walking and running paths for employees, underground parking plus an orchard, meadow and pond.

1,000 bikes will be kept on the site and available to staff to get around the campus. Jony Ive has revealed that employees can travel on electric golf carts and commuter shuttles if they have a long way to go.

There will reportedly be custom-designed 18-foot tables by a Dutch company called Arco for Apple employees to take advantage of in open work spaces to discourage an office-like atmosphere. There will be 500 tables, and if put end to end would roughly be the length of the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Despite aiming to be self-sufficient and earth-friendly, the range of materials used in the construction will without a doubt be the top of the line. “As with Apple’s products, Jobs wanted no seam, gap or paintbrush stroke showing; every wall, floor and even ceiling is to be polished to a supernatural smoothness. All of the interior wood was to be harvested from a specific species of maple, and only fine quality ‘heartwood’ at the centre of the trees would be used,” an insider told Business Week.

Since Jony Ive’s promotion to Chief Design Officer, there has been speculation that he’ll be designing elements of Apple’s new campus, including desks and chairs to be used by employees.

Ive has said that there are four floors at the campus, to minimise the need for elevators. He has revealed that the Apple Watch team will be on the third floor, and his design team will join the executives on the top floor.

Apple Park security

Apple takes security very seriously: it has a lot of ideas and new products it goes to great lengths to protect. Therefore it is not surprising that in planning documents first filed back in 2013 Apple stated that its goal with the new campus was to: “Achieve the security and privacy required for the invention of new products by eliminating any public access through the site, and protecting the perimeters against trespassers.”

In an email exchange with city staff back in October 2013, an Apple executive actually haggled over the location of a single tree. “If we move the tree an additional 5 feet in, the tree becomes a security issue for us,” the exec wrote, according to an LA Times report . “People will be able to potentially climb the tree and hop the fence.”

With the new campus Apple is attempting to cut off access as much as possible to the public – and it is likely that even members of staff will not have access to all areas of the new building.

February 2018: The drone crash

The air above Apple Park appears to be thick with drones, but as far as we’re aware this is the first drone to actually crash into the building. It was eventually located among the solar panels on the roof. Here’s the footage that was taken before, during and after the crash:

September 2017

Matthew Roberts took a trip to Apple’s campus at sunset in late September to showcase just how close it is to completion, and it looks stunning.

A week prior to September’s iPhone 8 launch event, Duncan Sinfield posted this drone video showing Apple Park in a state of near completion.

August 2017

By the end of February Apple Park was looking great, but construction was clearly still in process. At this point there was only a month to go until the headquarters opened.

January 2017

Matthew Roberts flew a drone right over the campus to show you what it looked like in January. As you’ll see, the garages have been completed, and are being used by construction workers; and an estimated 70 percent of the solar panels have been installed.

This video has been labelled ‘Feb 2017’ but we received the link on 30 January so we’re calling shenanigans on that.

Matthew Roberts sent us another drone video earlier in January. The campus was certainly looking a lot more finished than it had done in previous months, but the weather meant that much of the landscape had been reduced to slushy, swampy mud.

December 2016

In December Apple sent photos of the seemingly near-completed Campus 2 headquarters to staff, and these were inevitably leaked. The French-language website MacGeneration got hold of them.

Apple’s new HQ in London

In September 2016, it was announced that Apple will also be opening a new HQ in London, at Battersea Power Station – an iconic building in London. This building was the cover for Pink Floyd’s 1977 album named ‘Animals’ and led to its stardom. The building is 500,000-square-foot and can be considered one of the biggest office locations in London. Apple plans to move its 1,400 staff in the UK to the new Apple campus, after its £14/$17 billion investment. It’s set to open in 2021.

In October 2016, Business Insider UK shared a developer video showcasing a sneak preview of what Apple’s new London HQ would look like. The screen grab below shows just how big the development will be and how the iconic London landmark will be revamped. We’re excited to see more developments on the London HQ – we will be sure to update this article with any new additions.

Apple's visitor center is open to the public at last.

Apple Park may conjure images of picking a Golden Delicious on a crisp, fall day, but it’s actually the iPhone maker’s new spaceship-like campus. The company’s September 12 event was held in the new Steve Jobs theater situated in a grove on a hillside overlooking the campus, and reporters were able to glimpse the giant donut employees have been moving into since April 2017. Although the building is filling up, construction isn’t slated to be fully completed until the end of this year. Curious what’s going on in Cupertino? Here’s everything you need to know about Apple Park.

Can I visit?

On the morning of Friday, November 17, Apple opened the doors of its North Tantau Avenue Visitor Center to the public, as announced by the Cupertino Company. Visitors can peruse special hats and t-shirts at the interior retail location. With its exclusive merchandise, the shop holds a cache akin to the remotest Hard Rock Café attire. 9to5Mac lists onesies, tote bags, postcards, and memory cards that are also available for purchase.

You can also buy an iPhone X or other iPhone, iPads, Apple Watches, and other devices from Apple’s “full range of products.”

A cafe serves coffee and other refreshments, which you can enjoy in the center’s outdoor or indoor seating. Or you can take your meal to the rooftop terrace, where you’ll have the best view of Apple Park’s main building. Perhaps the cafe will bring in those crazy pizza boxes that keep your slice from getting soggy.

A 3D model of the campus combines with augmented reality to teach you all about Apple Park. Go ahead and take the whole installation apart if you’d like. “Visitors can learn about the world’s largest naturally ventilated building and view one of the largest on-site solar energy installations in the world,” Apple said in its release. “Visitors can also choose to lift the entire roof off the building to peek inside to the collaborative office pod layout.”

Spaceship campus?

A bit like a cross between a doughnut and a UFO, Apple Park earned its “spaceship campus” nickname due to its straight-out-of-sci-fi design. Construction started in late 2013, and the final outcome remained pretty faithful to early renderings . A time-lapse video from satellite footage shows years of building in just seconds.

Steve Jobs himself dreamed up the idea for the campus, designed by Nathan Foster and his team at Foster + Partners. Before his death in 2011, Jobs was very involved in the process.

“He knew exactly what timber he wanted, but not just ‘I like oak’ or ‘I like maple,’” project lead Stefan Behling told Wired. “He knew it had to be quarter-cut. It had to be cut in the winter, ideally in January, to have the least amount of sap and sugar content.”

How big is it?

Sitting on 175 acres, the headquarters at 1 Apple Park Way has room for more than 12,000 employees. The main ring building is 2.8 million square feet of curved glass. The Steve Jobs Theater has seating for 1,000 and is a smaller, 165-foot cylinder, with 20-foot-tall glass walls and a carbon-fiber roof. Like the Apple Store in New York – a glass box sitting at ground level, with the store itself buried beneath it – the Theater is a glass cake jar at ground level with stairs descending to the theater itself, which is buried in the hillside. A pair of elevators sit beside the staircases, themselves a perfect example of the Apple way: Rather than having doors on both sides, the elevator is elaborately architected to rotate as it descends. It looks beautiful, yet must have been monstrously complex to build.

Additionally, there’s a 100,000-square-foot Fitness and Wellness Center, complete with yoga and a dental practice. Originally, the Apple Campus 2, as it was originally called, was supposed to cost $3 billion and be finished in 2015. Though Foster + Partners were looking to reduce costs at the time, it’s unclear what the final cost will be when all is said and done. But with estimates like $161 million for the theater, $74 million for the fitness center, and $25 million for a tunnel, it’s no wonder it might cost as much as Richard Branson’s net worth .

Are there any cool features?

If tons of curved glass isn’t enough for you, how about a breathing building? The ring has heating and cooling systems but should stay between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit most days. Ventilation and circulation move air in and out, and tubes of water in the concrete floor and ceilings help keep a lid on extreme temperatures.

“The flaps and the opening mechanism all have to relate to sensors that measure where the wind is coming from and how the air goes through it,” Behling said.

Sloping glass protrudes at every floor to provide shade and keep rain off the clear walls.

All that glass is supposed to make workers feel one with nature and see what’s happening outside as people run on the two miles of trails or grab one of the 1,000 bikes to traverse between buildings. There is an orchard (though we’re not sure whether it has apples), as well as a pond and meadow. Should things get rough and tumble, as in an earthquake, the main building’s steel base should allow it to move nearly five feet and still keep the lights on, Apple Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive told Wired. The curved walls are panels of safety glass, also important for earthquake-prone regions.

The campus has so many amenities, it’s almost like they don’t want you leave.

“Apple Park has been built to reflect Apple’s values for both technology and the environment,” CEO Tim Cook said at the September 12 event. “It connects extraordinarily advanced buildings with a rolling park land to form an open and inspiring environment for our teams to create and collaborate.”

There are more than 9,000 trees on the 175 acres, all species able to survive in drought conditions. The ring runs on 100 percent renewable energy, powered by what Cook calls one of the world’s largest on-site solar installations. Jobs was supposedly inspired by Stanford’s quad, so perhaps one day there will be employees playing ultimate frisbee in the courtyard.

The ring has nine entrances and a 4,000-person capacity cafe. Massive four-story doors can open to temperate weather. For those who don’t brown bag it, the kitchens are equipped to serve 15,000 lunches .

Does everyone love it?

Apple-fiends may call it the spaceship, but Sunnyvale residents call one of the fitness center’s brick facade “ the prison wall .” They’re about to trade constant construction noise for thousands of commuters, including those expected to avoid traffic by driving through their neighborhoods, residents complain. Apple said it will give money to Sunnyvale for traffic monitoring and the Valley Transportation Authority to ease congestion on freeways.

The campus has so many amenities, it’s almost like they don’t want you leave. While it seems like Apple thought of everything — food, fitness, feng shui — there’s one big “f” missing: family. In the whole campus, there’s no daycare facility. Meanwhile, John Gruber of Daring Fireball said he’d gotten complaints about the open floorplan from some workers who weren’t excited to move into the new digs.

Apple has planted a new outpost in Santa Clara, leasing a four-decade-old industrial building where the tech titan has launched a wide-ranging renovation, public records show.Cupertino-based Apple leased a 62,000-square-foot building near the corner of Bowers and Walsh avenues, according to an official filing by the property owner with the Santa Clara County Recorder's Office.

Extensive construction was apparently taking place at this new facility earlier this month, though what that means for Apple, we don't know.

May 29, 2018: Apple reportedly signs deal with VW for driverless Apple Park shuttles

Apple has reportedly signed a deal with Volkswagen to bring several of the automaker's T6 transport vans to Apple Park, which would be paired with Apple's proprietary driverless vehicle software.

Instead, Apple has signed a deal with Volkswagen to turn some of the carmaker's new T6 Transporter vans into Apple's self-driving shuttles for employees — a project that is behind schedule and consuming nearly all of the Apple car team's attention, said three people familiar with the project.

Apple is said to have previously approached BMW and Mercedes-Benz to work on this project, with both companies turning it down due to Apple's data requirements.

What is Apple Park?

Previously known as Apple Campus 2, Apple Park is also known by another unofficial nickname: the spaceship. The new campus serves as the primary headquarters of Apple, Inc, replacing 1 Infinite Loop, which is officially known as Apple Campus.

The distinctive circular design of the complex's main building sets it apart from other tech headquarters, as well as other buildings in the area. What To Expect When At The Apple Park Visitor Center

Everyone knows about Silicon Valley and how so many of the world's tech giants are there, but it's not really a tourist destination - or is it? There is plenty of big, futuristic, and flashy tech headquarters there - although most are not open to the public (other than being able to wander around the massive campuses). Apple is one of the tech giants that has actually included a visitor center in their headquarters campus so that fans can visit.

For a very different attraction while in San Jose, consider visiting the Winchester Mystery House - an extremely massive and odd building built for the ghosts of those killed by Winchester rifles. After that, head up to San Francisco and see the best of the newest restaurants in the iconic city.

Anyone can visit the Apple Park Visitor Center (although there are no tours of the campus). Tech nerds and Apple fans should consider a pilgrimage to Apple Park - the headquarters of Apple. The Apple Park Visitor Center

The Apple Park Visitor Center comes with four main areas, an Apple Store, an exhibition space, a roof terrace, and a large cafe. The Apple Store offers Apple-branded merchandise not available at normal Apple stores (like T-shirts, hats, tote bags, postcards). The exhibition space showcases a 3D model of Apple Park with augmented reality.

This visitor center is the only part of Apple Park that tourists are permitted to visit. So while one can't just stroll around and have a poke around Apple's headquarters, at least they have created a special place just for visitors.

The Visitor Center is an architectural extension of the private campus where visitors can learn, explore, shop, and more. The intention here is to showcase the innovative design principles of Apple Park. One will see how they seek to stay at the cutting edge of technology and how they plan to go carbon-neutral across their entire business by 2030.

After relaxing with a coffee (either indoors or outdoors), head up to the Roof Terrace where one can enjoy a unique view of Apple Park and its rolling landscape.

Some of their services may be limited due to the current pandemic, if one is planning to visit, consider checking their website to see the current situation.

What To Expect Visiting The Apple Park Visitor Center

While there don't seem to be any guided tours around the Apple Headquarters, but the Visitor Center is a great place for shopping. It is a great place for Apple fans to appease their inner tech geek. Visitors note the modern architecture - including the modern minimalism of the Visitor Center.

The Apple Park Visitor Center is much more of an Apple Store than it is an Apple Museum or exhibition. It is worth a visit for those who want to experience Apple's newest products. The staff are also very helpful and friendly and will explain everything anyone wants to know about Apple's products.

The Apple Park Visitor Center is a place where visitors can have a more practical visit - like upgrading their iPhones.

In terms of merchandise, the Visitor Center also sells exclusive t-shirts of Apple Park. The price of coffee and things from the cafe is also reasonable - the prices are comparable to the prices of Starbucks in the area. Maybe being an "Apple" coffee will make the coffee somehow taste better too.

One Company of Many In The Silicon Valley

There are plenty more headquarters to visit while in Silicon Valley. One can visit Google's campus for example (but visitors can't enter the buildings there). Some of the other iconic brands may also have visitor centers or even tours.

Silicon Valley is a general term for the region in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area that's a global center for high technology and innovation (even if Tesla did move to Texas). Silicon Valley more or less corresponds to the geographical Santa Clara Valley and San Jose in particular.

Visiting the Apple Park and Apple Campus

I’m an Apple fan, if you didn’t already figure that out. So, while in the Bay Area, visiting the Apple Park and Apple Campus was a goal of mine, even if that meant just taking a quick look around outside.

Getting to Apple Park

After enjoying our breakfast at Tartine Manufactory, we jumped back into our Silvercar and headed out Apple Park. To get to Palo Alto, we took the 101, the 85, and, finally, Interstate 280. Once on the surface streets, you’ll need to make your way to North Tantau Ave, and from there, you can drive right into the Apple Park Visitor Center. Though there’s an above-ground parking lot, you’ll most likely end up in the underground structure as we did. Parking, though, is free.

Visiting the Apple Park and Apple Campus

The Visitor Center

The Apple Park Visitor Center is what you’d expect; a glorified Apple Store with a few unique products, an AR tour, a cafe, and an observation deck. It’s an interesting place to visit filled with passionate staff, but if you’re hoping to see something unique (other than the architecture and the AR tour), then you’re out of luck. But, anyway, take a look at some of the photos I took while we were there.

Visiting Apple Campus

Once we finished looking around at the Apple Park Visitor Center, we jumped back into our Silvercar and headed to Apple Campus. The original campus isn’t far from the newer Apple Park, being just 2.5 miles away on One Infinite Loop.

Things are a little less organized at Apple Campus than at Apple Park. Sings are a bit lacking, so we needed to look around to figure out where to park. For what it’s worth, the visitor parking appears to be in the open lot immediately to the right when you drive in.

Once you park, you’ll find an Apple Store right across from the parking lot. This store has a few Campus-exclusive items, though it’s a lot smaller (and emptier) than Apple Campus. Of course, you can walk around and take a look at the exterior of the building too.

Visiting the Apple Park and Apple Campus, Final Thoughts

Honestly, there isn’t a whole lot to see at Apple Park or Apple Campus. As a result, this is a stop to make only if you’re a serious Apple fan or want to appreciate the unique architecture of the Apple Park Visitor Center. Seriously, you’d get a better view of Apple Park by walking around it or flying your drone over it. Too bad I couldn’t find a suitable place to launch my drone since we were pressed for time.

The Apple Park Visitor Center

I am sure we agree that you know who Apple is, the guys behind the Macs, iPhones, iPads and much more. Apple’s new headquarter in Cupertino opened April 2017 to employees. The circular design and sheer size earned it the name “Spaceship” or “UFO”.

Access to the Apple Park is only granted to employees and some occasionally to the press while holding product launches at the Steve Jobs Theater.

If you wish to visit the Apple Park or at least get a glance of it from the outside, your best bet is the Apple Park Visitor Center. The visitor center is located across the street of the “spaceship”.

The easiest way to get here is by car. Plenty of parking is available behind the visitor center and in the underground parking garage. Charging stations for electric vehicles are also available in the parking lot.

Admission is free and the visitor center is split into 4 sections:

Apple Store

Exhibition area, roof terrace.

Of course, you can shop for your favorite Apple products here. No matter if it’s an iPad, Mac or just some accessories. Besides the regular products which can be found as well in other Apple Stores, there are exclusive Apple- and Apple Park–branded merchandise articles. They are only available here. This exclusive merchandise is a bit pricey but did we expect anything else from Apple?

Besides shopping, sign up for one of the “ Today at Apple ” sessions. Sessions range from sketching with the Apple Pen, to Photography, Coding and creating music with Garage Band.

Here you can find a model of the Apple Park and its surrounding area. When you first look at the model, it looks like the forgot something and they did. There is no texture on the buildings and everything is just in plain white color.

However, once you get one of the available iPads near the model, you can launch an immersive AR experience. Hold the iPad over parts of the model and you get a better look at the whole building. Pretty impressive. Be aware that you might be in line for a while if you want to try the AR experience.

Sit down and unwind over a cup of coffee or one of the many other refreshments offered here. Sit either inside or enjoy a bit of nature outside in the olive grove. I consider the prices here for decent. Fast Wi-Fi is available as well in the café and throughout the visitor center.

The highlight is probably the roof terrace. It’s open design lets you enjoy the beautiful and sunny California days and you get a glimpse of Apple Park. The views are not very good, as big trees block the view and you get to see only a small part of the $5 billion Dollar building. Because of that, it is hard to get a real feeling for the sheer size of the whole “spaceship”.

Plenty of chairs and tables are available upstairs to sit down and relax.

Furthermore…

Besides the areas mentioned above, don’t expect to see any historic devices like the first ever iPod or iPhone. Neither is there any information about the construction of the Apple Park or any of its features. Neither are there any tours available of the Apple Park itself.

The visitor center seems to be very busy, especially on weekends. During weekdays, you might catch the one or other Apple employee in the Café.

If you still can’t get enough of Apple. Don’t constrain your visit just to the visitor center. Walk down on North Tantau Avenue. You get to see the entrances to the “spaceship” and the tall berms planted with trees and scrubs to hinder you from getting a glimpse of what’s going on inside.

Old Apple Headquarter

The old Apple Headquarter (1 Infinite Loop) is just under a 10-minute drive away from the new headquarter.

Apple’s Flagship Store on Union Square in Downtown San Francisco is about a 50-mile drive north from the Apple Park Visitor Center. Parking nearby can be very hard to find, especially during the week and also super expensive in the Downtown area. Best way to visit is to park your car at the BART station in Millbrae near the San Francisco International Airport and take the train to Powel Street Station. From there it’s just a short walk to the Apple Store at Union Square.

Here’s everything you can buy at Apple Park’s Visitor Center [Gallery]

Apple Park’s Visitor Center celebrated its grand opening to the public today, and 9to5Mac is on the ground in Cupertino to see the new facilities in person. Just like at Apple’s Infinite Loop campus, the Apple Park Visitor Center has a company store with exclusive merchandise not available in other locations. Here’s a look at everything you can buy if you visit the new campus.

Just like a normal Apple Store, the Apple Park Visitor Center has a standard selection of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches available for sale. Most visitors will be drawn to a wall-length display on the side of the store, however, where the Apple Park exclusive merchandise resides.

Apple Park offers two different t-shirt designs in variety of colors that Apple says “cannot be exactly replicated.” One features an illustration of the Apple Park campus building, and the other a simple Apple logo. There are also onesies for younger visitors. T-shirts will set you back $40, and onesies are $20.

Three tote bags featuring the Apple Park spaceship are also for sale for $25 each, in white, gray, and black. Apple Park hats are available in the same three colors for $40. Three unique sets of “Designed by Apple in California” postcard collections are $20 each, and a set of colorful Apple Park memory cards are the store’s cheapest item, at $10. Apple has also collaborated with Hermès to create a one-of-a-kind display for the visitor center, hand painted by Hermès.

A mini Caffè Macs is also open to the public in the new visitor center, offering a small menu of coffee and tea drinks, and an assortment of chocolate treats and snacks.

Apple Park is Apple’s headquarters, the epicenter of the design of new Apple products and operating systems. It is located very close to the Apple Campus, the first complex designed by the American company several years ago, and although it may seem impossible, there is a part of this complex that is open to visitors. In this post we tell you how visits work.

Apple has an Apple Park located in Cupertino that has become its headquarters for designing new products. It is a development center in which workers have all the comforts to be able to develop new devices. Some people think that visits cannot be made, but there is a small part of the complex that can be visited. Unsurprisingly, the ring-shaped building cannot be visited , as this is where Apple products are created. But the company also thought about the large number of followers it has and created an area suitable for visits. You can’t see much, but it’s a good gesture so that anyone who wants to get closer can learn more about the design of this campus, which is a very interesting architectural work worth seeing.

How are the visits organized?

Although it may seem difficult to go see it, there is a small part that Apple has organized so that visitors can spend some time in its facilities. It is a building that is located in front of the great ring, and it has an Apple store where you can buy special products, such as Apple Park t-shirts, caps or mugs. But if you want to buy an Apple product, you can also do it there, getting quite striking discounts. In addition to this store, the visitor building has a full-size model of the main building, which you can interact with thanks to the iPads that are available. Next to the store is the cafeteria, called Apple Café, which has two floors and from above you can see the great Apple Park building, although with the number of trees you see less and less. Many followers of the brand would like to be able to see up close how the process of creating and designing their products is, and although this is not possible, there is a giant screen in the cafeteria where you can watch videos of how the products are created and some of the talks taking place at Apple.

Anyone But You finally made its Netflix streaming debut, which is exciting news for rom-com fans everywhere. As you watch the movie, you might be wondering where Anyone But You was filmed and if you can visit the breathtaking beaches, cliffs, and other locations in real life.

Loosely adapted from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” Anyone But You stars Glen Powell as Ben, a finance bro who has an incredible first date with Bea (Sydney Sweeney), a law student uncertain about her career. After spending the night, Bea panics and leaves without telling him. When she realizes she made a mistake and returns to his apartment, she overhears Ben saying that she is a “nothing” to him.

Years later, they unexpectedly reunite at a destination wedding in Australia for Bea’s sister, who is marrying Ben’s friend. When their exes show up, they pretend to be a couple—and the rest is history. The film was directed and co-written by Will Gluck, the filmmaker behind rom-coms like Easy A and Friends with Benefits . It was released in December and had an impressive run at the box office, surpassing $88 million domestically and $219 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo .

After its release, the movie went viral on TikTok as audience goers reacted to the film’s credit sequence, which features the cast dancing and singing to Natasha Bedingfield’s nostalgic 2004 hit “Unwritten,” a song highlighted throughout the film. There were also rumors of an off-screen romance between Powell and Sweeney that helped promote the film, as well as the actors’ flirty publicity tour and Sydney Sweeney’s SNL monologue .

Now, Anyone But You is back in the limelight after the film was released on Netflix on April 23, quickly becoming the No. 1 movie on the platform in the U.S. after just one day.

Anyone But You was filmed in parts of Australia around New South Wales and Sydney. Director Will Gluck told The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted the film set in Sydney because he had “really fallen in love with the city” and liked it so much he moved his family there.

“Almost every time you shoot a movie in Sydney, you have to pretend it’s somewhere else and frame out the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. For Anyone But You , I thought, “Why do that?” We actually wrote this movie 100 percent for Sydney — very specific to the destination,” Gluck wrote.

The director continued, “We flew helicopters all over — seeing the city from that vantage point is stunning — and landed one at the Opera House, shut down the Harbour Bridge, filmed at the Queen Victoria Building, and shot for two weeks overlooking Bondi Beach,” he said. “We spent a week on a boat in Sydney Harbour shooting a scene where they’re stranded on a buoy, but you can’t have humans in the water without a shark cage, so we had to have one the whole time. You pinch yourself. It’s so unbelievable we were actually doing these things.”

The Sydney Opera House is a focal point in Anyone But You. The 20th-century architectural landmark serves as a gorgeous backdrop for big moments, including the end scene when Ben passionately kisses Bea, who is standing at the top of the steps. You can visit the performing arts center for special events and tours.

Marks Park, Bondi

Located in Sydney's northern suburbs, the wedding scene in Anyone But You was filmed at Marks Park overlooking Bondi Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The cliff-top park is open to the public and has fitness stations, a playground, and some shaded areas.

Many of Anyone But You ’s breathtaking beach scenes were filmed around Palm Beach. Director Will Gluck told THR that one of the best parts of filming was on location in Palm Beach, a suburb in the Northern Beaches.

“Our caravans were parked right on the water, and Glen and Sydney and I decided to live there the whole time. We’d shoot all day and all the crew would go home, then we’d jump in the water and have a swim, go to our trailers and have dinner sitting outside,” he said. “It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, and you normally wouldn’t be allowed to sleep there. It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had filming.”

The historic Jones Bay Wharf is another familiar filming location in Anyone But You. The hidden gem in the Pyrmont district is home to fine dining restaurants, charming cafes, and beautiful views the of the city and Harbour Bridge.

While on their way to collect flowers for the wedding, Ben and his friend Pete are seen walking alongside the Queen Victoria Building. The Romanesque 19th-century building is actually a five-level shopping center with fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, cafes, and restaurants.

What is the Meta AI tool? Can you turn it off? New feature rolls out on Facebook, Instagram

Meta unveiled its artificial intelligence tool, Meta AI, last week in more than a dozen countries across its various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The tool created by Meta , parent company of Facebook, can be used to "get things done, learn, create and connect with the things that matter to you," according to a news release from the company April 18. Meta AI is free and can be used in feeds, chats, search and more without having to leave the app you're using. It also has an image generation tool that can quickly produce AI images and GIFs.

The feature is now available to use in the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, the U.S., Zambia and Zimbabwe.

What is Meta AI?

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, rolled out the new, free AI feature available on those platforms to more than a dozen countries in English, including in the U.S.

According to a news release from the tech giant, Meta AI allows users to "access real-time information from across the web without having to bounce between apps."

Meta AI can be accessed in the Facebook feed and on Instagram search, and Meta is rolling out beta testing in the U.S. on WhatsApp to create images from text in real time using the AI's Imagine feature.

You can also access the tool on its own website, meta.ai .

Can you turn off Meta AI on Facebook or Instagram?

There is no option to disable the feature, Meta AI confirmed in a chat , but people can continue to search as they normally would to "engage with a variety of results."

What You Should Know About Apple's Journal App

If you've wanted to journal but haven't gotten in the habit, this app could help you change that.

When Apple unveiled iOS 17 at its WWDC event in June , the Journal app drew a lot of attention. While Apple didn't release the app with iOS 17 in September or with the iPhone 15 series , the tech giant did release the app with iOS 17.2 in December.

Journaling has been linked with many mental health benefits, including helping manage anxiety , reducing stress and coping with depression . Some people might have a difficult time remembering to journal or figuring out what to write. Apple's Journal app makes it easy to jot down a few thoughts when you're on your phone, and it provides you with writing prompts and other reminders about what you've done in a day.

Here's what you should know about the Journal app and how it works.

What is Journal?

Journal is an app developed by Apple to help users write journal entries and easily insert pictures, videos and other content. Your entries are stored locally on your iPhone, and you can have backups on iCloud.

Journal can suggest Reflections or other moments to write about.

Journal provides prompts, called Reflections, that you can write about. Some Reflections the app gave me included, "Think about something you love to do and why it brings you joy," and "Describe someone in your life who you really appreciate but forget to thank."

The app can also access certain data and give you suggestions about what to write based on that data. For example, on my first weekend with Journal, it suggested I write about a coffee shop and park that I visited. You can control what types of data and other apps Journal can access to create these suggestions.

How do you get Journal?

Apple included Journal in the iOS 17.2 update, so if you've downloaded the update -- or later updates like iOS 17.4 -- you should see the app on your home screen.

How secure is Journal?

According to Apple , the app has end-to-end encryption between your device and iCloud, and it uses on-device processes to create journaling suggestions including Reflections. That means the data it uses stays on your iPhone.

"No one but you can access your journal -- not even Apple," the company wrote online.

Beyond that, you can require the app to ask for your FaceID or passcode after it's been inactive for 1, 5 or 15 minutes. If you don't want to take any chances, you can set it to immediately lock when you switch apps or your iPhone goes to sleep -- you know, in case of snooping siblings or roommates.

How do you write an entry in Journal?

On the Journal homepage, you'll see your recent journal entries and a plus ( + ) sign across the bottom of your screen. Tap the plus sign and you'll be taken to a new menu.

Journal app suggestion for Morning walk on Monday, December 11

You can also write about something you saw or thought about on your morning walk.

In this new menu, you'll see suggested Reflections as well as moments from your day that you can write about, like a picture you took or a Podcast you listened to. Tap any of these for a short overview of the suggestion, and then tap Start Writing . You'll be taken to a new page that looks similar to a new note in the Notes app, but the suggestion will show across the top of the screen. You can write your entry on this page, and you can add other content like photos, videos or voice notes.

You can also just write an entry without a suggestion. After tapping the plus sign on the Journal homepage, there is an option across the top of the new menu that reads New Entry . Tap this, and you can jot down any thoughts or feelings you're having at the moment, or you can add your own content here.

Once you're finished, tap Done in the top-right corner and the entry will be saved to the Journal homepage. You can also edit or update entries once they've been saved to the homepage. Tap the three dots ( ... ) in the bottom-right corner of the entry you want to edit, then tap Edit .

What if I need help keeping a journaling schedule?

Have no fear: You can set the app to remind you to journal. A splash screen in Journal asks you to set a schedule the first time you open the app.

You can set reminders to journal in the app.

If you don't see this splash screen, or you want to change your schedule, go to Settings > Journal > Journaling Schedule and then tap the switch next to Schedule . A menu will appear below Schedule that will allow you to set a reminder to journal every day -- or certain days -- at a certain time.

Find devices in your list

Follow these steps to find the devices that you're currently signed in to with your Apple ID.

Use your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch to find where you're signed in

Tap Settings > [your name], then scroll down.

Tap any device name to view that device's information, such as the device model, serial number, OS version, and whether it's a trusted device that can be used to receive Apple ID verification codes. The information might vary depending on the device type. You might need to answer your security questions to view device details.

Add a device to the list

To add a device to the list, you need to sign in with your Apple ID . After you sign in on a device with your Apple ID, that device appears in the list. Here's where you need to sign in:

For iOS or iPadOS, sign in to iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, iTunes & App Stores, or Game Center on the device. You can also see your paired Apple Watch.

For macOS or Windows 10 and later, sign in to iCloud on the device.

For Apple TV HD and later, sign in to the iTunes and App Store on the device.

For Apple TV (3rd generation) and earlier, sign in to the iTunes Store on the device.

Your AirPods will appear in the Find My app, but they won't appear in your Apple ID device list. You can remove your AirPods from your account using Find My. Devices running iOS 7 or earlier or OS X Mavericks or earlier won't appear in your device list.

Remove a device from the list

If your device is missing, you can use Find My to find your device and take additional actions that can help you recover it and keep your data safe.

If you aren't using your device anymore, or if you don't recognize a listed device, you should remove it from the list.

If you set up two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, removing a device will ensure that it can no longer display verification codes. It also won't have access to iCloud and other Apple services, including Find My, until you sign in again with two-factor authentication. The device won't reappear in the list unless you sign in again.

You can also permanently remove a device from your account page

Use your iPhone or iPad to remove a device

Tap the device to find its details, then tap Remove from Account.

Review the message that appears, then tap again to confirm that you want to remove the device.

1. You'll probably need a car to get there.

2. The actual campus isn't open to the public. You can walk around the perimeter, but you can't get inside to see either the "spaceship" building or the on-campus theater where Apple launches new products.

3. But there is a visitor's center that's open to the public. It's free to the public, located across the street from the campus, and there's plenty of parking.

4. The visitor's center is an Apple store, but there's a lot to do there, including an AR experience, exclusive merchandise, and a cafe.

5. Don't miss the Apple Park augmented reality experience, which lets you peek into the campus through an iPad.

6. There are Apple Park T-shirts and other accessories you can't get anywhere else.

7. If you need a pick-me-up, there's a cafe in the visitor's center with snacks and coffee. On a weekday morning, you might see Apple employees taking meetings in the sunny cafe, and the WiFi is fast and reliable.

8. The visitor's center is an Apple store, so you can buy an iPad, iPhone, or Mac if you wish — or a charger if you left yours at home. There is no Genius Bar or repairs available at the Apple Park visitor's center, though.

9. It's easy to miss the upstairs roof deck, but it's the highlight of the visitor's center. Look for the Jony Ive-designed stairs.

Once you're on the roof, you get the closest view of Apple Park available to the public.

10. It's a great place to take photos.
