Trip Odometer
- Add to quote
I just got my new (but old - 2018) ZR2 (Duramax) and I cannot find a trip odometer on/in the DIC....do these things NOT have a trip meter? thanks for any advice! -John
And of course it was operator error. I finally did RTFM and although it's not exactly clearly explained or obvious as one scrolls the DIC the trip meters had been disabled under the options screen of the info panel. Once I activated them things were good to go. Just posting this in case anyone else has a similar issue. -John

Odometer not working
- Add to quote
So I posted about this a while back but I have not figured anything out. My odometer on my truck has been stuck on 78k since I bought it and the trip odometer stays at 0.0. Some have suggested that it may just be a cluster from a different truck that had more miles than mine, but I really doubt that this is the case because my truck first of I doubt this truck has less than 78k miles on it and even if it was wouldn't the trip odometer still work? Any ideas?
And mods if this is not the right section please feel free to move it or let me know
Does everything else work on it, such as the gauges and speedometer?
Or the BCM could have been changed...............thats where that mileage is actually stored
Yes everything else works fine, so if it is the BCM what can I do to fix it?
You'd either have to have your bcm reflashed to correct it or the other option would be to buy a new bcm
So the odometer has never worked since you bought the truck? Which suggests that you do not really know what the actual mileage is. I'd run a CarFax report to try and determine what the last reported mileage was. If the actual milage that is stored in the BMC is greater than the value stored in the IP, the odometer reading will not update until milage that stored in the BCM is reached. So if the actual mileage is 178K, it could be a while before the odometer begins to update again. If you bought the truck thinking it had 78K on it when in reality it had more miles on it, a fraud has been committed if it was not disclosed to you at the time of purchase. That's why I would run a CarFax report. Now to resolve the issue.. If it's under 78K replacing the Instrument Panel (IP) should resolve the issue. If it's over 78K replacing and BCM should resolve the issue. A GM dealer will need to reprogram the new BCM. The body control module (BCM) calculates the mileage based on the vehicle speed circuit from the powertrain control module (PCM). The BCM then sends a class 2 message to the IPC indicating the value of the odometer. The odometer will display 'error' if an internal BCM memory failure is detected.
