Travel-Size Skincare Products for Men

The Best Men's Travel Skincare Products

Men’s travel-size skincare products from designer or boutique brands can be pretty difficult to find. While transferring facewash and moisturizer into travel-size containers is an option, it’s a hassle.

So, below I’ve compiled all of the most popular travel-size products including cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and more. These are all products I or my fellow travelers have personally tried and love!

With these recommendations, you can avoid the stress of deciding which personal skincare products you should bring on a trip.

Everything mentioned below is 3.4 fluid ounces (100 ml) or less. No need to worry if you can pack them with flight carry-on luggage. You can bring these anywhere!

Exfoliants & Travel-Size Scrubs

Especially after a day of traveling, it’s always a good idea to exfoliate your skin. Clear out the grime and pave the way for fresh, radiant skin cells.

My go-to travel-size exfoliant is the Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub , quite popular among men. 

I love this product in particular because it’s heavy-duty and includes menthol for a cooling effect. The granules are relatively coarse, which I like to use on my back and shoulders.

For something gentler, try the Lumin Exfoliating Rub with activated charcoal. It works differently than other exfoliants; as you rub the gel onto your face, it balls up as it dries, gently exfoliating.

Clinique’s travel-size Face Scrub for Men is among the most popular exfoliants out there. It’s great for before shaving, too.

Chemical Peel Exfoliants

A chemical peel might be an even more compact travel-size exfoliant option. I use The Ordinary AHA Peeling Solution  once a week. It’s an acid that helps to remove dead skin cells on your face’s surface. Don’t be afraid of the red color, it doesn’t stain!

Salicylic acid masks are another common way to chemically exfoliate your skin. I prefer to use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (I actually switch each week between this mask and the AHA peel mentioned earlier).

This mask works especially well for oily and acne-prone skin. A 10-minute treatment once a week will keep your skin even and free of clogged pores.

Travel-Size Face Wash Products

A quality facial cleanser makes all the difference, but finding those cleansers in a carry-on size is sometimes cumbersome.

For dry skin, some cleansers can be a little too harsh. For those with oily skin, a cleanser that’s not strong enough can leave behind impurities.

Face Wash for All Skin Types

Good for all skin types and fragrance-free, the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser is an easy choice. It’s a velvety liquid formula that won’t over-strip skin, yet thoroughly clears away impurities.

I highly recommend the travel-size CeraVe cleanser , a 3 oz version of their popular foaming facial cleanser. This cleanser is recommended for normal to oily skin, but in my opinion, it’s completely fine for any skin type. I love the refreshing feeling of using a foaming face wash.

Travel-Size Face Wash for Oily Skin

The Lumin Charcoal Cleanser has recently soared in popularity and it’s fantastic as a travel-size face wash. Oil and dirt don’t stand a chance against this stuff. A little goes a long way too, meaning it’s well worth the price. The black container is pretty chic, too.

The Charcoal Face Cleanser Stick by Disco is another great option that smells fantastic and gives a deep facial cleanse, best for oily skin. It’s cost effective too; my Disco cleanser stick lasted for almost an entire year! 

I also recommend the travel-size Clinique Oil Control Face Wash for men with oily skin. It’s incredibly inexpensive and trusted.

Travel-Size Face Wash for Dry Skin

Gentle facial cleansers are better for dry skin, or if your face isn’t really that “dirty.” The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is perfect for either instance. I like to use a squalane facewash if I don’t have much of an oil buildup on my face.

Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser Liquid is another fantastic facewash to use while traveling. You’ve probably seen these little bottles before in department or drug stores. It’s the most basic and affordable skin cleanser around.

Travel-Size Serums & Oils

Using specialized serums and oils can be one of the most daunting parts of a good skincare regimen. But utilizing a couple of serum solutions can really make a difference in your appearance.

Most come in smaller sizes too, making them some of the best travel skincare products you can buy. I’ll make it easy for you with the recommendations below.

Serums for Overall Healthy Skin

A serum with copper peptides can improve your skin’s health . They help produce connective tissue, promoting smooth skin.

The Ordinary Buffet Peptide 1% Serum is one of the most important steps in my travel skincare routine every morning. It’s light and dries smoothly.

Niacinamide is a fantastic nutrient that helps retain moisture, regulate oil in your sebaceous glands and minimize blotchiness. I mix a bit of niacinamide + zinc solution with my buffet serum in the morning.

CeraVe makes a vitamin C & hyaluronic acid serum which is fantastic for skin brightening, general hydration, and skin texture. If you’re not looking for anything too fancy or complicated, this serum is a good bet.

Something similar that also contains vitamin C is The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution . This is a brightening serum that has a stabilized vitamin C derivative.

Serums for Pigmentation & Puffiness

Inexpensive and effective, The Ordinary Caffeine Solution + EGCG works great for puffy under-eye skin. This one is a no-brainer travel-size skincare product. I personally use it every morning. It tightens the skin, brightens, and feels super light.

The Effaclar Pore-Refining Serum by La Roche-Posay is a popular pore control and anti-aging serum. It’s a little on the expensive side, but nonetheless highly-rated. This product goes on in combination with a moisturizer.

Serums & Oils for Nighttime Skincare

Before bed is the perfect time to give your skin a boost to prepare for the day ahead. At night, I prefer using oils—the kinds that don’t clog pores (and I have oily skin). Night creams and serums are other lighter options.

The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane is one of the travel-size skincare products I absolutely swear by. After washing your face at night, rub on some of this oil to help your skin cells turn over faster.

1% is about average strngth. If you’re sensitive, choose the 0.5% option. Otherwise, you can always choose regular plant-derived squalane for hydration.

If high-strength is what you’re after, try The Ordinary’s recent;y developed Granactive Retinoid 5% . I’ve switched to this and my oily skin has never looked clearer.

The Glycolic B5 Serum by La Roche-Posay is an anti-aging concentrate that fights dark spots and discolorations. A few drops of this serum each night helps to slough off skin cells, driven by the glycolic acid.

Travel-Size Moisturizers for Men

The right type of moisturizer is crucial to your travel skincare routine. Even if you have oily skin, you’ll still need a light moisturizer. Otherwise, you might experience acne resulting from a cleanser that strips your skin of all moisture.

If I could only bring two products with me while traveling, one would undoubtedly be their Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid formula.

This stuff keeps your skin hydrated without looking or feeling greasy for such a long time. I haven’t found anything better for such a good price.

Lumin’s Moisturizing Balm is another excellent travel-size skincare product to keep your skin hydrated. I like it especially for nighttime and love the scent.

In my opinion, Lumin’s moisturizer is just a tad bit heavy for daytime wear, but if you have dry skin, you might love using it all the time.

Anti-Aging & Eye Creams for Men

Lumin’s Dark Circle Defense eye cream treatment contains all the must-have ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide with a clean, citrus scent.

The product also includes Argireline as an ingredient, which actually isn’t so common. Argireline produces effects similar to Botox and stimulates collagen production

Shiseido’s Total Revitalizer Eye Cream for men is also quite popular. I love the sleek little container. At just over half an ounce, it’s small enough to fit right in your pocket!

Mattifying Moisturizers

Is your skin shiny post-workout, even after showering? You’ll want to use a special mattifying product.

Effaclar Mat a mattifying moisturizer for everyday use. Made by La Roche-Posay, this fragrance-free moisturizer is great for oily skin. While the price is higher than average, this product’s stellar reviews might just convince you to invest.

Sensitive Skin Moisturizers

For highly sensitive skin that needs a hefty infusion of moisture, try the Toleriane Ultra Night Cream by La Roche-Posay. There are a ton of nourishing ingredients inside, including squalane, niacinamide, and neurosensine, which helps with skin irritation and discomfort.

La Roche-Posay actually published a clinical study proving that this nighttime moisturizer formula helped improve rosacea-prone skin!

The travel-size Cetaphil Daily Oil-Free Hydrating Lotion is a second suitable choice for those with sensitive skin. Hyaluronic acid in this moisturizer will keep skin hydrated all day long.

For dry or irritated skin on any part of the body, consider La Roche-Posay’s Cicaplast Baume B5 Balm . It’s oil-free, won’t clog pores, and comes in a convenient 1.35 oz tube. You can use this cream anywhere, from your face to your feet!

My favorite acne spot-treatment product is Kiehl’s Breakout Control formula. I take this tube with me no matter where I’m traveling. 

The main ingredient is sulfur, which has natural antibacterial properties. A little bit goes a long way, so the tube lasts quite a while.

Super compact at only 1 oz, I frequently take my Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask on the road. You can also use this product as a cleanser, which is pretty neat.

If you’ve got an event where you need to look your absolute best, invest in a pack of Shiseido Pure Retinol Eye Smoothing Sheets .

After just one session, puffiness disappears and your under-eye skin looks flawless. This is one of the best under-eye mask products you can buy.

Toner seems to be one of the most difficult skincare products to find in a travel-size! One of the few widely available toners is from Dermologica. Everyone loves their anti-aging Antioxidant Hydramist Toner for daily use.

Body Wash & Travel-Size Soaps

If you don’t like relying on hotel soap, consider picking up a bar of “Ultimate Man” Body Scrub Soap by Kiehls. Nothing will leave you feeling cleaner!

Bar soaps are ideal for backpackers or anyone that needs a long-lasting and dependable soap. And since it’s not a liquid, you don’t have to worry about the 3.4-ounce rule.

Cremo’s exfoliating Palo Santo Body Bar soap is my absolute favorite. These also last for literally months. 

A few other products to try are the Marlowe Body Scrub Bar and the all-natural zero-grit Dr. Squatch bar soap.

Our favorite part of the bag was the organization of the internal space. The way the clothing sat along with the shoe pockets and the additional space for the belt was impeccable. As much as we moved around for different activities, we never felt like they were sliding but rather managed to stay put on our face. Two things can be true: they’re lightweight yet sturdy in ways you know that they won’t break easily. For example, the fold isn’t too smooth, which gives us confidence in the hinges. The nose bridge rested comfortably for long periods and didn't pinch, so when we took our glasses off, there wasn’t a mark left on our face. Not to mention, the tint is dark enough to sufficiently block sunlight and glare while wearing them outside.

Its packability and structure will keep you organized no matter what you decide to bring. We were impressed that we could practically stuff our entire cabinet of skincare essentials and still squeeze in our electric razor-trimmer. There’s one large main compartment that we utilized for our necessities and two separate zippered compartments with mesh material for any other small items. We appreciated the different pockets, especially the waterproof one that is convenient in the event of a leak or spillage. 

Best Toiletry Bottles

It’s a piece of cake to empty and refill these travel bottles.

You may need to buy two sets if you want more volume because the set consists of two 89-milliliter and two 60-milliliter bottles.

We tried to fill plenty of drugstore travel bottles and they pale in comparison to the LiquiSnugs Premium Silicone Travel Bottles. Because these TSA-approved bottles come in two different sizes, they are equipped to hold a lot of products. Sometimes you just need  more of one product than another when traveling and these give you that option. Each individual silicon bottle held up well during testing and had the volume to secure our shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and face wash. The mouth of each one is fairly big, so it’s not hard at all to empty and refill it as needed. We were surprised there wasn’t any spillage or damage after we tossed, turned, and dropped them during our tests. In fact, the bottles were small and durable enough to fill a quart-size Ziplock without having to worry about leakage. 

Best Earplugs

Loop quiet ear plugs.

These earplugs offer optimal comfort and reduce most noise during travel.

They aren’t ideal for situations when you’ll need to take them in and out frequently.

Compared to the dainty earplugs that come in some hotel or airline amenity kits, the Loop Quiet Noise Reduction Ear Plugs feel downright luxe. On a redeye flight during our testing period, we were able to sleep comfortably with no problem as the plugs snugly fit inside our ears. Although they’re marketed as noise-reduction and not noise-canceling, they still do the trick. For instance, if someone is speaking in a regular voice, these block them out, along with general loud environmental clamor on our daily commute. 

Whether we’re working, reading, or studying, we found these ear plugs are versatile in offering protection from loud noises and background noise in many cases. The exterior loop makes it accessible to take them out and twist them to properly fit, especially during HIIT workouts or running through the airport. Thanks to their design, they feel snug and not like they’re going to fall out. They also come with a small plastic carrying case that we hooked onto our keychain, making it easy when you need to locate the earplugs whenever and wherever you may need them. As if there weren't enough qualities to love, here’s one more: they’re usable for up to five years.

Best Sunscreen

The Pipette Mineral Sunscreen is a true gem, regardless of some critical reviews from users online. For starters, finding a sunscreen that doesn't give a white cast can be a huge challenge, but this one is the exception. The sunscreen has a creamy texture, but it’s so fast-absorbing and lightweight that we barely noticed it on our skin during our tests. It actually goes on smoothly and blends well with a variety of skin tones (and vacation tans). The 30 SPF product is housed in a triangular-shaped squeeze tube container, which we found dispenses effortlessly. Thanks to the non-nano zinc formula that provides broad-spectrum protection, we could spend hours swimming or laying out by the beach. Also, we were stunned that there was barely any transfer of the sunscreen onto our black shirt. But, we did see it ran a little bit from both pool water and sweat. 

Best Weekender

This is one of the most durable, high-quality, and well-designed weekenders we've tested.

With a 35-liter capacity, this is more of a personal item than a carry-on and may not be large enough for heavy packers.

This spacious weekender bag features plenty of pockets to help keep all of your items organized. The outside of the bag even features extra pockets for essentials such as keys, wallets, phones, and more. The weekender is segmented into three parts: the front pocket, the main compartments, and a laptop compartment that fits up to 16-inch laptops. The outside also features a handy luggage sleeve, so you can pair this bag with larger luggage for long trips.

Just looking at the bag, you can tell that it's a strong and durable bag. All of the zippers run smoothly and some of them even have water-resistant linings. While the bag is a bit heavy to carry, we like that the shoulder strap is adjustable and features soft padding. After all of our durability tests, including shoving the bag off a counter multiple times, it shows no signs of wear and tear and we're sure it will last for years to come.

This is more than just an average messenger bag — the Samsonite Colombian Leather Flap-over Messenger Bag is a spacious commuter or business trip essential that can carry everything you need. While the leather bag is heavier than some, it's also more sturdy and more durable. It's also extremely comfortable to carry thanks to a wide shoulder strap that equally distributes weight.

This messenger also has thick padding inside, so nothing pokes out into your back or side and it gives extra protection for your laptop and other devices. The front flap has two push clasps that make it super easy to open (with two mock buckles on top that add an upscale look without the pain of actually having to unbuckle them) and covers pockets that are perfect for storing pens, cards, and other quick-access items. There's a large back pocket with velcro that you can just slip your hand into as well. This leather bag feels high-end and sturdy, and it didn't show any scratches after we threw it off a table four times. As a bonus, it has a really nice leather smell to it that adds to the overall luxurious design.

To select these particular products, we sorted through results from 17 different tests that T+L editors took part in, testing well over 350 products in total. We stuffed packing cubes into carry-on luggage , tested neck pillows to see how comfortable they were, analyzed earplugs and headphones for noise-canceling abilities, and more. We chose the products that scored well and stood up to our long-term testing as we continued to use them on our travels.

Tips for Buying Travel Accessories

Consider trip length.

Nine times out of 10, you’ve overpacked for your trip before and not used everything in your luggage. The art of packing, after all, is all about learning not what you need to bring, but what can stay at home. A big part of those deciding factors should rest upon the duration of your trip. Are you going away for a week or a weekend? You should be packing those numbers of days — nothing more, nothing less. The last thing you want upon arriving at the airport is an overweight bag with unnecessary items (and an additional charge).

Think about your itinerary

When curating your packing list, it’s best to consider what’s on the agenda for the trip. What activities will take place? Are you going to be out in the sun for hours, in need of sunscreen? Do you have electronics to accommodate you from point A to Z? Do your outfits and accessories coincide with the forecast? Certain trips call for very specific items. Once the itinerary is laid out, you’ll have a better understanding of what to bring and what to leave behind.

Prioritize comfort

Comfort is not something you can sacrifice when going on a trip. You have to think about what accessories will help make your travel experience more enjoyable and free-flowing. Are the zips on your dopp kit smooth and easy to use, or do they get stuck easily? Will this pillow hold your head in place on the plane and prevent you from slouching? In the end, you’ll want to collect travel accessories that make your journey easier, not more complicated.
