The Best Structure for a Sample Email Request for a Courtesy Visit

When it comes to requesting a courtesy visit, it’s important to remember that you are asking for someone’s time. Therefore, it’s crucial that your email is clear, concise, and respectful. In this article, we’ll be discussing the best structure for a sample email request for a courtesy visit, using Tim Ferris’ writing style.

Introduction: To start your email off, you’ll want to introduce yourself and explain why you’re reaching out. This should be done in a brief and polite manner. For example:

Dear [Recipient’s Name],

My name is [Your Name], and I’m reaching out to request a courtesy visit with you. I am interested in learning more about your work and would be honored to have the opportunity to meet with you in person.

Background: Next, it’s important to provide the recipient with a bit of background information about yourself. This will help them understand why you’re interested in meeting with them and what you hope to gain from the visit. For example:

I am a [Your Profession] who has been following your work for some time now. I am particularly impressed with [Specific Project or Accomplishment], and I would love to hear more about your experience and insights as it relates to my field.

Purpose: Once you’ve established a bit of rapport with the recipient, it’s time to let them know exactly what you’re hoping to accomplish with the courtesy visit. This will help them understand the purpose of the meeting and will make it easier for them to say yes. For example:

I’m hoping that we can discuss your work in greater detail, as well as any current projects or challenges that you’re facing. I would also like to pick your brain about how you got started in your field and any advice you may have for someone just starting out.

Closing: Finally, it’s time to wrap up your email with a respectful closing. This should be a clear ask for a meeting without being too pushy. For example:

Thank you for considering my request. I understand that you are busy, and I would be happy to work around your schedule to find a time that works for us both. Please let me know if you’re available to meet in the next few weeks. Thank you again, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In conclusion, when it comes to requesting a courtesy visit, it’s all about being respectful, clear, and concise. By following this simple structure, you’ll be able to craft a compelling email that is sure to get a positive response.

Whether you are planning to work there, to ask for a fellowship, or to simply pay a short informal visit to a center of excellence, you will have to get in touch with the hospital and obtain their approval. Bear in mind that most likely they will not know anything about you; they may have heard of your chief of surgery, if he or she is well known in the field and may know something basic about your country or even your city, … but that's all. It can also be a helpful tool for ensuring that all parties involved are on the same page and that the visit is a success. In this article, we will provide a sample courtesy visit letter and offer tips on how to create your own effective letter for future visits.

The Best Structure for a Sample Courtesy Visit Letter

When writing a courtesy visit letter, it’s important to follow a clear and organized structure to ensure that your message is conveyed effectively. Here is a breakdown of the best structure for a sample courtesy visit letter:

  • Heading: Start your letter with a clear and concise heading that includes your name, position, and contact information.

  • Recipient’s Information: Address the letter to the recipient by including their name, title, and company name.

What information should be included in a courtesy visit letter?

When writing a courtesy visit letter, it is important to include the following information: – The purpose of the visit – Date and time of the visit – Name and position of the host – Name and position of the visitor – Any special instructions or requests for the visit – Contact information for both parties – A polite and professional tone throughout the letter By including all of these details, you can ensure that the visit goes smoothly and that both parties are on the same page.

How far in advance should a courtesy visit letter be sent?

When sending a courtesy visit letter, it is recommended to send it at least one to two weeks in advance of the scheduled visit. This will give both parties enough time to make any necessary arrangements and ensure that the visit is successful. Sending the letter too far in advance may result in it being forgotten, while sending it too close to the visit date may not give the recipient enough time to prepare.

Should a courtesy visit letter be sent via email or mail?

While sending a courtesy visit letter via email is more common and convenient, mailing a physical letter can also make a positive impression. It ultimately depends on the preference of the sender and recipient. Email is typically faster and more environmentally friendly, while a physical letter shows extra effort and can stand out among the recipient’s other correspondence. Consider the relationship between the parties and the formality of the visit when deciding on the method of delivery.

Can a courtesy visit letter be used for both personal and professional visits?

Yes, a courtesy visit letter can be used for both personal and professional visits. Whether you are visiting a friend or conducting a business meeting, sending a courteous letter can help set expectations and ensure a successful visit. The key is to tailor the content of the letter to the nature of the visit, including relevant details and maintaining a respectful tone. Regardless of the purpose of the visit, a well-written courtesy letter can enhance communication and make the visit more enjoyable for both parties.

SACOED Journal of Education and Contemporary Issues

Francisca Nnajiofor

This paper examines the relevance of pre-primary education and sustainable national development in Nigeria. It also argued in favour of how pre-primary education could be managed in Nigeria to promote effective national development in line with the national objectives contained in the national policy on education. The above issue makes the pre-primary education a compulsory one, thus, its importance is no longer debatable. It is a starting point for the child’s general development and foundation of Nigerian educational system. It concluded that if pre-primary education would achieve all its objectives, then it should be well monitored and supervised, staffed, equipped, financial and coordinated. Based on the conclusion it was then recommended that appropriate levels of government (federal, state and local) should establish and enforce educational law that will ensure that established pre-primary schools are well ruined, teachers well qualified and academic infrastructure provided.

My kids' middle names are places my husband and I have loved. I didn't want to name them after people.

  • Choosing my kids' names was a difficult decision.
  • I wanted them to have middle names that would help them discover themselves and feel grounding.
  • In the end, my husband and I chose middle names that were places we loved and remembered fondly.

Insider Today

I gave birth to my first child — a daughter — in New York City in April of 2020, just after the start of the pandemic. Yes, the experience was terrifying, but almost as terrifying was deciding on her name.

I was fairly confident with the choice of her first name. But when it came to choosing a middle name for my first daughter (and later, for my second), I wanted to give myself time to think and to dream about my offspring's identity and legacy. Middle names are often viewed as the name of lesser importance, but I wanted my choices to be a gateway for both discovering and for remembering their center, or rather, the core of their being.

I wanted to choose something that reflected my love of mother nature and could also serve as a guidepost for my child. I also didn't want my daughter to feel that she had to live up to someone else's life or influence by naming her after another person . And I loved the idea of her having a physical place that she could go to and revisit throughout her life — even with her own children and grandchildren, someday — that she'd feel she had a personal stake in.

I thought about all the places I'd been

As I contemplated a middle name, I thought about the many beautiful places I had visited in my life, and narrowed it down to one special region of the United States: the Appalachian mountains. And then, I remembered this breathtaking hike that I had taken once in college at the Roan Mountain Balds in Tennessee.

The hike is a part of the Appalachian Trail and boasts awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In June, the rhododendron blooms attract folks from all over the country. The "roan," or reddish color of the mountaintops during this time of year, has been what many claim to be the origin of the mountain's namesake. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited.

Related stories

"Roan" was the perfect choice for my first child — Roan Mountain held such a special place in my heart, and I knew that one day, it would hold a special place in her heart, too.

When I got pregnant again, the process started over

I had my second child just 21 months after my first, and again, while I was pregnant, we found ourselves in the tedious process of choosing yet another first and middle name . By this time, our family had relocated from New York City to Asheville, North Carolina.

We'd traded our 500-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in Queens for an old home that was double the size of our previous, surrounded by all shades of natural green. I don't take for granted the fact that I can step right outside onto the front porch and inhale crisp mountain air; even three years later, it still hasn't gotten old.

However, despite our decision being the right one for our family, my husband and I started to find ourselves grieving our pre-kid, city life. We missed weekends spent leisurely walking in parks throughout the metropolis, sipping fancy coffees, and finishing the night eating out and drinking at restaurants that served up cuisines and cocktails from all over the world.

We had spent six years posing as city slickers, but whenever we needed a break, we pressed pause and retreated up the Metro-North. Just an hour or so on the train and we were in a whole different world, hiking and recharging. Without a doubt, the Hudson River Valley quickly became one of our homes-away-from-home — another special place in our book of life.

And so, as the clock ticked during the third trimester of my second pregnancy and the panic of choosing a first and middle name commenced, my husband offered the possibility of "Hudson" as our second child's middle name, and without any hesitation, I agreed. It was perfect, and when we were surprised with a second daughter, it fit her well.

I hope that my girls will delight in, not only the sounds of their names , but the pieces of their mother and father that reside within them — that make up who they are as people on this wondrous earth. By selecting these names, our hope is that our children will visit and re-visit these places and fondly remember the memories and stories told by us, their parents.

We also hope to bestow our love of nature as well as the lesson that it is constantly teaching us: that it is constant, and life is variable. We want them to appreciate the beauty and joy that life offers even in its most fleeting moments. A sure-fire way we can do that is by immersing ourselves in nature.

If our children do so, in return, they will be afforded a fuller life — one that is not perfect but is worth living, and that, I believe, is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids.

Glasgow couple sends ‘cease and desist’ letter to Montana’s lieutenant governor

By: darrell ehrlick - may 21, 2024 2:41 pm.

As part of a now ongoing lawsuit that has spanned both state and federal courts, a Glasgow couple has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Montana Lt. Gov. Kristen Juras, demanding that the second-highest ranking executive in the state stop making false statements and issue an apology letter to them.

Todd and Krista Kolstads’ attorney, Matthew Monforton of Bozeman, sent the letter on Monday, the same day the Kolstads filed a case in federal district court in Billings alleging that social workers with the State of Montana’s Child Protective Services deceived a state court judge in order to seize the Kolstads’ 14-year-old child without a warrant, and, in the process, ignored their religious freedoms.

Need to get in touch?

Have a news tip.

The cease-and-desist letter asks Juras to apologize for comments she made during the state court hearings earlier in the year about the Kolstads, as well as preserving records that may come into play in the federal case.

The Daily Montanan reached out the Juras’ office on Tuesday morning, but had received no response as of the time of publication.

The court case involves a 14-year-old child who was removed from the Kolstads’ home last summer after threatening suicide. The Kolstads and the child were at odds about whether the 14-year-old should be allowed to transition from female to male. The Kolstads have maintained that their deeply held religious beliefs prohibit “transgenderism,” and that state officials disregarded that freedom.

Meanwhile, state officials claimed that they were trying to find a psychiatric placement for the suicidal teenager when they took custody of the child, identified in court documents as “H.K.” The state sent H.K., to a Wyoming facility and later a Billings group home. Since then, H.K.’s mother in Canada has been the custodian of the youth.

However, the Kolstads have filed the federal suit against the state’s two social workers involved in the case, as well as sending a demand to Juras, who became involved in the case when Gov. Greg Gianforte appointed her to look into the matter after some degree of public concern when the Kolstads took their case to the media and social media.

The Gianforte administration during the previous two legislative sessions has supported proposals to limit youth access to medical care, and has been seen as largely hostile to advancing LGBTQ+ rights.

However, Juras, a former law school professor and conservative who once ran for the state Supreme Court in part on a platform of religious freedoms, told media that she had personally reviewed the details of the case, and supported the state’s social workers.

“You have said that CPS’s seizure of the Kolstads’ daughter was lawful and have repeatedly accused the Kolstads of lying about their daughter’s seizure,” said the letter sent to Juras by Monforton. “You have it exactly backwards — it is your statements about the Kolstads that are unfounded, malicious and slanderous under Montana law.”

The letter makes three requests of Juras including to stop defaming the Kolstads, apologize for slandering them, and preserve all written communications between Juras and any other person relating to the Kolstads.

The letter goes on to state that the CPS social workers told the court that they needed to seize H.K., who was in immediate harm. However, at the time they told state court Judge Yvonne Laird that H.K.,  was in immediate danger, the child was already at a hospital, with round-the-clock, one-to-one observation, according to court documents.

“CPS workers instead seized the Kolstads’ daughter and took her to Wyoming against her parents’ will. CPS did this because they believed the Kolstads’ objections to transgenderism made them unfit parents. They told the Kolstads that their daughter would not be returned to them until they accepted her transgenderism. When the Kolstads refused to compromise their faith, CPS workers took their daughter to her biological mother in Canada,” the letter said.

On Jan. 29, Gianforte confirmed on social media that he was appointing Juras to look into the matter, and that she had, confirming that DPHHS followed state policy.

“The case documents, however, demonstrate precisely the opposite,” the Kolstads’ letter said. “You and Governor Gianforte could have stopped this injustice, but instead you allowed CPS to trample on the Kolstads’ civil rights…Rather than respond to the Kolstads’ plea for help (or refrain from saying anything at all about the case), you have chosen to slander them for the past several months by calling them ‘liars’ and claiming that CPS was justified in seizing their daughter.”

The case also demonstrates the interconnectedness of politics in a smaller state like Montana. Monforton, a former Republican lawmaker who has claimed a series of victories in state court, finds himself sending a letter to a former colleague, Juras — a Republican and conservative attorney. Monforton and Juras both originally were co-counsel in one of the largest class-action lawsuits in the state when the City of Billings illegally charged “franchise fees” to water and wastewater bills. Juras and Monforton worked the case for the first two years until Juras left as co-counsel to campaign as Gianforte’s running mate. At the conclusion of the franchise fees case , Monforton was the sole successful attorney.

‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point’ Review: A Sweet, Nostalgic Love Letter to Suburban Holiday-Season Rituals

Director Tyler Taormina wraps up an unabashedly sincere portrait of a boisterous Italian-American family gathering in twinkling tissue paper, and leaves it under the tree.

Christmas Eve in Miller's Point

Popular on Variety

Eventually, Emily and Michelle give their elders the slip and venture into town to hang out and score beers and couple up (Michelle with a waitress played by “Eighth Grade”’s Elsie Fisher), in a way that somewhat recalls Taormina’s lovely and strange debut, “Ham on Rye.” But where that film put a surreal, dreamily satirical twist on the American prom ritual, “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point” plays its traditions straight, with a sincerity and sentimentality so brazen it borders on the avant garde.

It’s oddly heartwarming to know that while for many of us, memories of family Christmases exist only in a messy blur, clearly Taormina, his co-writer Eric Berger and perhaps especially his production designer Paris Peterson were paying closer attention. They render their ur-Christmas movie, that dangles like a tree ornament on a string of tinsel stretched between Vincente Minnelli’s “Meet Me In St. Louis” and a hokey late-’90s holiday commercial in almost fetishistically fanatical detail.

Whatever surreality there is here comes from coupling this radically simple premise to a gloriously overstuffed aesthetic of suburban abundance, in which everything sparkles and glows, while tables groan under the weight of a hundred assorted casserole dishes. Even those moments that threaten drama or conflict — like a manuscript left on a hall table or a missing pet lizard — turn into benign anticlimaxes: every Chekov’s gun loaded with nothing but glitter and candy.

From a soundtrack spackled with Sinatra and ’60s pop classics to the hyper-romantic, gauzy visuals delivered by DP Carson Lund (whose directorial debut “Eephus,” which Taormina produces, is also in Directors’ Fortnight) to the unquestioning presentation of weird family rituals as completely normal, there is no War on Christmas here, just a wholehearted surrender to its folksy, kitschy pleasures.

Subscriber only, restaurants, food and drink | brewery day trip: explore three san francisco neighborhoods with this beer-tinerary, sample beers like the dutch blonde, a belgian ipa and a ghirardelli chocolate peanut butter stout at these three sf breweries..

Open since August in the former Cellarmaker digs, Enterprise Brewing Co. was founded by Jesse Hayter and brewmaster Cameron McDonald, who met while working at Fort Point Brewing as, respectively, the first delivery driver and first brewer.

The brewery’s name comes from the recesses of San Francisco history, a nod to another Enterprise brewery that opened on Folsom Street in 1873 only to be shuttered by Prohibition.

This brewery’s space is small, but open and vibrant, with a raucous, lively energy. A roll-up door brings in air and light. It feels welcoming and inviting, with a DJ spinning tunes and people bringing in food from Rize Up Bakery next door. On Saturdays, they bring in pizza from Outta Sight Pizza .

McDonald keeps 10 or so beers on tap, including a clean, refreshing lager and a Continental-style pilsner, which are their best-selling beers. I enjoyed their Dutch Blonde, their take on a Kuit beer, a nearly-extinct beer style from the Netherlands. They also had a lovely copper ale, that was giving steam beer vibes, and a sourdough stout brewed with sourdough loaves from Rize Up and served on nitro.

Details: Opens at 4 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, 3 p.m. Fridays and 1 p.m. on weekends at 1150 Howard St. in San Francisco; enterprisebeer.com .

Barrel Head Brewhouse

Barrel Head Brewhouse, a San Francisco brewery located north of the Panhandle, has an interior described as

The two-story windows at Barrel Head Brewhouse, a NOPA brewery, beckon the thirsty. Founded in 2013 by Ivan Hopkinson and Natasha Gatto, the brewery’s interior is, as one customer described it, “tastefully nautical.” It’s eclectic and comfortable, with octopus drawings on the walls and a full-size torpedo behind the bar. There’s a fire pit, booth seating and a large wooden bar, plus a second-floor balcony.

Brewmaster Kirk Hillyard serves up to 10 house-brewed beers supplemented by guest taps and cans from other local breweries. (Cocktails are on the menu, too.) Popular beers include a sweet take on Kölsch and Thomas Edward Best Bitter, a solid bitter with a signature Burton snatch — a term used to describe the aroma of sulfur on a freshly poured beer.

Other stand-outs include the Oud Bruin barrel-aged brown ale, a nicely complex beer with umami notes of mushrooms, treacly sweetness and a good malty backbone, and Brother Harker Patersbier Belgian IPA, which has a beautiful nose, big pillowy head and complex flavors. And the kitchen turns out food — beet salad, calamari and pesto pasta, as well as burgers and fish and chips — that’s a cut above the usual pub fare.

Details:   Opens at 2 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends at 1785 Fulton St.; barrelheadsf.com . They also recently opened a sister taproom, Lost Marbles, in the Inner Richmond district that serves Barrel Head beers plus guest taps and a pub menu.

San Francisco Brewing

San Francisco Brewing Co., located at Ghirardelli Square, has an abundance of outdoor seating plus a Ghirardelli chocolate peanut butter stout available. (Courtesy Jay R. Brooks)

Brewmaster Justin Boehle spent decades at Gordon Biersch’s production brewery before joining San Francisco, where he keeps more than a dozen beers on tap at any time. He’s brewed 199 different styles of beer during his time here and is mulling opening it up to the public to choose No. 200.

The Fog City Hazy IPA is the best-seller, a solid, smooth hazy with no bitterness, brewed with barley, wheat and oats. Appropriately for the location, they also brew a chocolate beer. The Ghirardelli chocolate peanut butter stout is brewed with Ghirardelli cocoa nibs and served with a chocolate rim. It’s nicely balanced, with restrained peanut butter notes that let the rich chocolate shine through.

Other stand-outs include the Presidio pils, a well made German-style pilsner; Polk Street pale ale, a fruit-forward ale; and a distinctive Vanilla Contusion IPA, conditioned with vanilla beans, orange zest and Belgian candy sugar.

Pair those brews — or a cocktail — with tacos, steak, fish and chips or other temptations from the kitchen menu.

Details: Opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. weekends in Ghirardelli Square at 3150 Polk St.; sfbrewingco.com .
