NOT A DRILL: Taylor Swift Has Just Added Two Extra Dates To Her Australian Eras Tour

Tiketek made an announcement for the new tickets on Thursday November 9.

“Due to the demand, additional tickets including partially-obstructed side view tickets will be released with prices starting from $79.90,” it read.

“Limited tickets across all the Australian concert dates will be available from Friday 10 November at 10am for Sydney and 4pm for Melbourne until allocations are exhausted.” HUGE!!!!!!!!!

Previously, the demand for the shows prompted Miss Swift to add TWO more Eras Tour Australia dates to her time Down Under.

The queen giveth, the queen provideth.

Miss Swift added an extra show in Melbourne on February 18, and another in Sydney on February 26.

This makes Taylor the first artist since Madonna in 1993 to perform three shows at the MCG. That’s fkn huge.

Tickets for the extra shows went sale along with the original tickets back in June. While it wasn’t great news for our interstate hotties and pals in Aotearoa, it did give a little more hope to the hoards of people who missed out on pre-sale tickets.

If you missed out on tickets (sad), you can check out what resale sites are (and aren’t) recommended to buy tickets from . According to a Ticketek spokesperson, over four million people across Sydney and Melbourne were trying to snag tickets to see our glittery queen last time.

Now that there are more tickets up for grabs, we wish you good luck, godspeed, and may the odds be ever in your favour.

Ahead, we’ve compiled everything (and we mean everything ) you need to know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia.

When is Taylor Swift coming to Australia?

Taylor Swift will be performing two Eras Tour gigs in Melbourne and three gigs in Sydney in February 2024.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Dates:

  • Friday 16 – Melbourne, MCG
  • Saturday 17 – Melbourne, MCG
  • Sunday 18 – Melbounre, MCG
  • Friday 23 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Saturday 24 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Sunday 25 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Monday 26 – Sydney, Accor Stadium

When do Taylor Swift Eras Tour Australian tickets go on sale?

For those who were determined to be the first to get their grimy hands on Eras Tour tix in Australia, there were two pre-sale options. One was the American Express VIP package Pre-Sale which happened on June 26 and only sold VIP two packages — not general admission tickets.

After that, regular pre-sale and VIP tickets were available via Frontier Touring on Wednesday, June 28.

Unsurprisingly, the Frontier Member’s pre-sale was an absolute shit fight with many of us missing out.

General tickets went on sale Friday, June 30.

The new additional tickets will go on sale Friday, November 10. Sydney tickets will become available at 10am while the Melbourne allocation will be available at 4pm. What a time to be alive, my friends! Good luck to all!

What are the Taylor Swift ticket prices for Australia’s Eras Tour?

I hope you’re ready to drain your bank account and sell your firstborn because these bad boys are NOT cheap.

If you’re ready to go all out with A Reserve tickets, you’ll pay $379.90 a pop. But if you’re happy to just vibe along and don’t care where you sit, you could cop G Reserve tickets for $79.90.

Here’s how much tickets cost for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia:

How can I get Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets?

Ah yes, that little chestnut. It’s expected to be extremely difficult to get Eras Tour ticket as demand far outweighs ticket availability.

But don’t fret, we’ve put together a guide filled with handy tips on how to make sure you actually get tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour .

While you’re at it, can you make sure you get one for us?

How does the Ticketek queue work for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

PEDESTRIAN.TV spoke to a Ticketek representative about exactly how the Ticketek queue works in anticipation of general ticket sales.

Learn how the Ticketek queue works here .

Where’s the best place to sit for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

Good question. We’ve compiled an entire guide on the best (and worst) places to sit for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour based on some clever Swifties on TikTok who are really doing god’s work.

What is the Taylor Swift Eras Tour setlist?

The  official set list  includes 44 songs (!!) and the Eras Tour is doing exactly what it promised — taking Swifties on a journey through all the musical eras of Taylor Swift.

The Eras Tour is the first tour for the pop star in five years, and she’s performing hit after hit for the duration of the show.

Warning: spoilers ahead.

Eras Tour Setlist:

  • Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince”
  • “Cruel Summer”
  • “You Need to Calm Down”
  • “The Archer”
  • “You Belong With Me”
  • “Love Story”
  • ” ‘Tis the Damn Season”
  • “Champagne Problems”
  • “Tolerate It”
  • “Ready For It?”
  • “Don’t Blame Me”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”
  • “Enchanted”
  • “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
  • “I Knew You Were Trouble”
  • “All Too Well (10-Minute Version)”
  • “The Last Great American Dynasty”
  • “Illicit Affairs”
  • “My Tears Ricochet”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Shake it Off”
  • “Wildest Dreams”
  • “Bad Blood”
  • “Mirrorball”
  • “Tim McGraw”
  • “Lavender Haze”
  • “Anti-Hero”
  • “Midnight Rain”
  • “Vigilante Shit”
  • “Bejeweled”
  • “Mastermind”

OG fans will be thrilled to see bops like “Enchanted” and “Fearless” both making the cut for the setlist.

There are tracks off of her fourth studio album Red , including “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the 10-minute (yes,  10-minute ) version of “All Too Well”, so excuse me while I curl up into a ball and sob for the remainder of the day.

“Cruel Summer” also makes an appearance. I’ve never wanted to see someone dancing around on stage in a bedazzled leotard more in my life.

“Lavender Haze”, “Mirrorball” and “Style” are all confirmed for Eras and seriously, Taylor Swift knows what we want and she  gives it to us .

Even “You Belong With Me” got some air time. 12-year-old me is screaming .

Tracks from every single album appear to be making the cut. Why doesn’t every artist structure their live performances like this ?

And while many Aussies have been miffed over not having tour dates until 2024, there is a slight silver lining in that we might be able to see more songs from Speak Now (the best album, IMHO) on the setlist thanks to its re-release in July.

Why has there been so much drama over the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour shows?

Ooooh boy, there’s been a lot of whispers about the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour for months now.

It all kicked off from a Tweet posted in March when the oracular gossip site Deuxmoi hinted that Taylor Swift had already booked the country’s biggest stadium, the MCG, for her tour.

“Dates have been booked for Taylor at the MCG in Melbourne, Aus. So she’s definitely coming to Australia!” the Tweet read.

Shortly after this, an anonymous individual claiming to work for the MCG sent the Shameless podcast a DM claiming TayTay is defs on her way.

“Hush Hush but I work for the MCG and dates have been booked in for Taylor,” they wrote.

taylor swift shameless MCG tickets australia eras tour

Per the anon tea spiller, the “You Need To Calm Down” singer will be playing not one but TWO shows at the MCG.

Thankfully, they were right! Yahoo!

Is there any footage of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

For the last few months, Australians have been forced to watch footage from the Eras Tour unfold on TikTok, including vids featuring the likes of Hayley Williams ,  Gigi Hadid ,  and  Emma Stone straight-vibing. TBH, it’s had Aussie Swifties begging for a Taylor Swift Australia tour.

The Eras Tour kicked off on March 17 in the US, and based on the footage, it’s everything we wanted and more.

A ‘yuge thank you to all the overseas Swifties for the glorious footage from the Taylor Swift Eras Tour!

This tour is cracking up to be everything I could ever want in a T Swift tour, the song choices, the wardrobe changes, the set . Phenomenal, truly.

Taylor Swift announced the Aussie concerts writing, “EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️ I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

eras tour australia

Taylor Swift in her Reputation era for the Eras Tour.

As mentioned, Taylor’s US tour is slated to end in August 2023, from there she’ll be heading to Latin America, and won’t be in Australia until February 2024. Swift has been to Australia for every single ‘World Tour’ since Fearless .

There’s no doubt that it will be worth the wait though, just to hear the singer say, “Hi, I’m Taylor” before diving head first into the show opener ‘Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’.

Which cities will Taylor Swift go to in Australian Eras Tour?

eras tour australia

Oh please go to Brisbane Tay Tay!

Taylor Swift has attended at least Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in previous World Tours, with Perth and Adelaide getting alternating slots over the years.

However, for the Eras Tour Swift will only play in Sydney and Melbourne, on four nights for Sydney and three for Melbourne.

Naturally, this has fans everywhere in a tizzy. However, before you start crying in your bed to ‘Never Grow Up’, it’s important to remember that it’s great news Swift will be playing in such large capacity stadiums. So light a candle and start a vigil for those tickets.

Who Is The Support Act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia?

eras tour australia

TAYLOR SWIFT WILL BE HEADING TO MEXICO AND SOUTH AMERICA FIRST

On May 2, Swift announced that the first round of international dates would bring the Eras Tour to Latin America.

“Really thrilled to tell you this!! Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year! Sweet angel princess Sabrina Carpenter will be joining us on all of the shows!” she wrote on Instagram.

It’s a sweet gesture that Swift is prioritising Latin America in her Eras Tour, given she has only toured North America, Europe, Australia and Asia in her previous tours.

Where Else Is Taylor Swift Playing Internationally?

Taylor Swift will finish out 2023 in Latin America before moving to Japan in 2024 to start the new Asia/Oceania leg of her tour, which includes Japan, Australia and Singapore, before she darts to Europe.

Her European leg is slightly more extensive, starting in Paris, then Sweden, Lisbon, Madrid, Lyon, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirken, Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw, Vienna with two more shows in London to finish.

Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

The tour began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and extends through Aug. 9, where the singer will wrap with a fifth night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift still has stops left in Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Santa Clara.

Watch Taylor Swift Play ‘Hey Stephen,’ ‘Maroon’ at Eras Tour in Paris

Taylor swift debuts 'my boy only breaks his favorite toys' live at paris eras tour, tems maps out first world tour in support of debut album 'born in the wild'.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

The stadium tour was accompanied by a concert film released on New Year’s Eve that year.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

Will The Eras Tour Come To Australia?

Yes! At 2am on the 21 st June, along with other regions worldwide, Taylor Swift finally announced that she will be bringing her Eras tour to Australia with dates slated for Sydney and Melbourne. On the 29th June, following high demand at presale, two more dates were announced as follows:

  • Melbourne MCG: Friday, 16 February 2024
  • Melbourne MCG: Saturday, 17 February 2024
  • NEW SHOW! Melbourne MCG: Sunday, 18 February 2024
  • Sydney Accor Arena: Friday, 23 February 2024
  • Sydney Accor Arena: Saturday, 24 February 2024
  • Sydney Accor Arena: Sunday 25 February 2024
  • NEW SHOW! Sydney Accor Arena: Monday, 26 February 2024

Aussie Swifties have been waiting for this announcement ever since the Grammy award winning artist first announced the US tour dates. Adding fuel to the rumours, notorious Instagram gossip page DeuxMoi did hint that Australian fans could be in luck, sharing an anonymous tip that read:

“Dates have been booked for Taylor at the MCG in Melbourne, Aus. So, she’s definitely coming to Australia!”

What Other Countries Will Taylor Visit?

Initially, the Eras tour was slated for US locations only .

When Taylor announced the tour back in November 2022, she wrote, “I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!).

“The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!”

Fast forward to May 2023 and the first round of international dates were (finally) announced.

On May 2, 2023, Taylor shared the news that she would bring Eras to Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

To top it off, she also announced that none other than Sabrina Carpenter would be the support act for the Latin American shows. Does it get much better than that?

taylor-swift-eras-tour-australia

Are Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide Getting Eras Tour Dates?

Taylor Swift has announced shows for Sydney and Melbourne only. Luckily, there are multiple dates in big stadiums, so if you live outside of those cities, now is the time to start saving for a trip to Sydney or Melbourne!

Will Any More Dates Be Announced For Australia?

Yes! Following presale, Taylor Swift announced two more dates for the Eras Tour, one in Sydney (Monday 26 Feb 2024) and in Melbourne (Sunday 18 Feb 2024).

Who Is The Support Act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia?

Supporting Taylor for her Australian dates is none other than Sabrina Carpenter. The American singer has recently wrapped her own headline US tour, Emails I Can’t Send Tour and was recently announced as the support act for Taylor’s Latin America tour dates. Sabrina last visited Australia in 2014 for the Nickelodeon Slimefest.

Lauren Rouse Avatar

Let’s break it all down.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Australia: What you can and can’t bring

Earlier this week, Frontier Touring revealed a list of items you will and won’t be allowed to bring to the Eras tour venues (which are the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sydney’s Accor Stadium).

  • One bag per person – must be smaller than A4 size, maximum of 2 compartments, does NOT need to be clear
  • Smartphone ( filming and photography is allowed )
  • Portable phone chargers (must be smaller than the size of your phone)
  • Friendship bracelets (can be worn or carried in your one bag – no extra bags allowed for bracelets)
  • One sealed, clear, soft plastic water bottle no larger than 600ml (if you have floor tickets, water cups will be provided)
  • Sunscreen (not in aerosol form)

Don’t bring:

  • Professional or commercial photography or video cameras, GoPros or tripods
  • Selfie sticks
  • Lights or battery packs
  • Radios or walkie talkies
  • Laptop computers, tablets or digital readers
  • Large signs (must be smaller than 28cm x 45cm)
  • Any costumes or clothing that may impede the view of those around you
  • Airhorns, instruments, speakers
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Tents or camping chairs
  • Confetti or torn paper
  • Aerosols (including deodorant, spray sunscreen)
  • Prams or strollers

Frontier Touring released some clarifying tips if you have any further questions about anything on the list above. Note that there are no cloaking or storage facilities at either Eras Tour venue.

A reminder that the show will go ahead if it’s raining, so check the forecast before your show to see if you’ll need to bring a raincoat.

If you’re keen on picking up some merch from the show you can find details for that here.

Eras Tour concert start times

It’s a pretty safe bet that Swifties won’t be late to this one, but what time exactly can you expect the Eras Tour to kick off?

Gates will open at 4:30 pm on the day of each show, with the concert beginning at 6:20 pm. Sabrina Carpenter is the only confirmed opener for the Eras Tour shows in Australia right now, so expect her to play first and for Taylor to come on a bit later, likely around 7:30 pm. All tickets are allocated seating, so you don’t need to queue up early for a good spot.

Taylor’s set runs for over three hours , so be prepared for the long haul and plan your transport home accordingly.

How to find and show your ticket

Tickets for Taylor Swift’s shows will only be accepted on the Ticketek app. Ticket suppression lifts on February 12. After that, you’ll be able to view your ticket with show date, venue and seat allocation. Barcodes will unlock 48 hours before the show, and that’s when you’ll be able to share the tickets with other members of your group.

To gain access, make sure your phone is charged, and screen brightness is at the maximum for entry.

If you have an issue with your tickets or app on show day you can head to the Box Office of your venue – equipped with a valid Photo ID that matches the name of your Ticketek account – and the staff will be able to help.

If you’re going to Taylor’s shows, we hope you have the best time, and, for those who missed out, you only need to hold out until March 15 before the Eras Tour is streaming .

Which Australian Cities Will Taylor Swift Visit?

Brace yourselves - one bit of news about Taylor's upcoming Aussie tour isn't the greatest.

In 2023 The Courier Mail reported that "sources" say Taylor will only be performing in Sydney and Melbourne.

The sources revealed that the popstar would be skipping Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide because of "time constraints and travel costs."

And it looks like the news was true!

Missed out on Taylor Swift tickets? Here are your next steps

With two separate presale events now finished and the general sale sold out - it's safe to say many Swifties missed out. And it's nothing to do with you, we promise! Turns out Ticketek's waiting lounge didn't queue fans chronologically.

“Everyone in the Ticketek lounge has an equal opportunity to get into the site regardless of when they have arrived,” Adrian Digiacoma, a representative at Ticketek told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

This explains why some people only waited 20 minutes for tickets, whilst others who jumped on early never got through.

Fortunately for Swifties that missed out, Ticketek has released one last saving grace, with a new batch of partially obstructed side view tickets going on sale from 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13.

Ticket prices will start at $65.90 for H Reserve and will go up to $379.90 for A Reserve, with a strict limit of four tickets per customer. The resale also includes access to a variety of last-minute VIP packages and hotel and ticket packages, so be sure to join the queue here for your final chance to secure Eras Tour tickets!

If you missed out on the final flash sale, there's still hope! In good news to literally everyone, Ticketek has opened their fan-to-fan resale for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour on Ticketek Marketplace.

The sale, which kicked off at 10 a.m. AEDT on Friday, November 24th, will give Swifties who still haven't got their hands on tickets the opportunity to purchase verified resale tickets from other fans who have purchased their Eras Tour tickets through Ticketek during the prior general sales and now wish to sell their ticket.

You can purchase your Eras Tour resale tickets here.

Do you need to bring a clear bag to the Eras Tour?

As Taylor's Aussie tour dates inch closer and closer, Frontier Touring has announced a few important details to ensure all fans have a great time.

Gates will open at 4:40 pm and there is no reason to arrive earlier since all seating will be allocated. The Show will start at 6:20 pm.

You do not need a clear bag. Just make sure your bag is no larger than A4 in size.

Download your ticket on the Ticketek app and do not bring iPads, GoPros, tripods, selfie sticks or drones.

Friendship bracelets are allowed but must be worn on patrons' arms. Signs must be smaller than 28cm-45cm.

More information can be found here .

Did Taylor release new music ahead of her Eras Tour?

Yes! On March 17, Taylor released four new tracks ahead of the start of her tour. Tay took to Instagram to announce the release of four new singles, including  Eyes Open (Taylor's Version) ,  Safe & Sound (Taylor's Version) ,  If This Was a Movie (Taylor's Version)  and  All Of the Girls You've Loved Before.

Read our full update about her new music - and listen to the tracks! -  here .

During her appearance at the Grammys in February 2024, Taylor surprised everyone, announcing a brand new album titled The Tortured Poets Department, which is set to be released on April 19.

Who is Taylor Swift's support act?

Joining the pop star, at least for the US leg, will be: Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, beabadoobee, Gracie Abrams, GAYLE and OWENN.

Eras will mark Taylor's first tour in five years, following her 2018 Reputation concert. That year's highest-grossing music tour by a female artist saw the Getaway Car songstress joined by Charli XCX, Camila Cabello and more.

In Australia, Taylor will be supported by Sabrina Carpenter.

When was Taylor's last tour?

Taylor was meant to tour again in 2020 with Loverfest , but her plans were thwarted by COVID-19.

“This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she said in 2021.

Since 2018 - and the Reputation  tour - Taylor has built her discography substantially, releasing four new albums and two re-releases.

New music includes the albums:  Lover , Folklore , Evermore and, most recently, Midnights , while the re-releases include Taylor's Versions of the old records   Fearless   and   Red.

The re-releases also included a slew of previously unheard 'From The Vault' tracks, meaning that the 33-year-old has dropped a total of 90 new songs, not including collaborations with HAIM, Big Red Machine, etc.

Will Taylor Swift Bring Her Eras Tour To Australia? Everything We Know

From those rumoured dates to what we can expect..

Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfits

Taylor Swift ‘s Eras tour is fast becoming the most talked-about music show in the world. While the ‘All Too Well’ singer has already announced and booked a mammoth amount of dates, we’re still waiting to know – will Taylor Swift tour Australia in 2023?

Consider this article one to come back to as time goes on – for now, there are rumours, and we can also look at past tour announcements for insight into whether Swift will bring Eras to Australia this year.

Did Taylor Swift Book The MCG?

One of the strongest rumours around a Taylor Swift Australia tour in 2023 is that her management team booked in dates at Melbourne’s MCG. This is exactly the kind of venue someone of Swift’s calibre would need for a show, so we believe it. However, these rumours are coming from unidentified sources.

The first is via online gossip site DeuxMoi , who shared that an “insider” had confirmed Swift’s team made a booking at the MCG. The second came via the Australian podcast Shameless , who were also contacted with an anonymous tip regarding a booking, this time with a timeline – February 2024.

It’s worth noting that the MCG saw the largest-ever ticketed show in Australia occur in March, with Ed Sheeran performing for 109,500 attendees. We’re thinking Taylor Swift will likely top that if she tours, but it’s clear the venue has the space to accommodate her fanbase.

When Will Taylor Swift Tour Australia?

Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfits

These February 2024 dates would line up with how Taylor Swift’s Eras tour is currently playing out. The ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer is currently in the middle of her American tour leg, which is entirely in massive stadiums and has seen the artist break multiple records, including first female act to sell out particular stadiums, and first act in history to sell out multiple-date shows at venues.

Her American tour is slated to wrap in early August 2023, and the likelihood is that soon, European dates will be added. We do know that international dates are coming – the official website says as much – but to which countries and when, we don’t know.

One megastar we can look to for insight is Harry Styles. His Love On Tour shows began in America, then Europe and South America before finally landing in Australia. So unfortunately for us, if Taylor Swift brings her Eras tour here, it is likely to be (at the earliest) in early 2024.

What Can We Expect From The Eras Tour?

Judging from the first reports coming in after shows in Las Vegas and Arizona, Taylor Swift’s Eras tour is her best yet. Because the artist couldn’t tour for albums Lover, evermore and folklore, and due to the fact that she’s been re-recording her old albums of late, she’s encompassing all her music into one three hour performance.

The show is broken up into albums, starting with Lover. Each album sequence covers several hits and yes, all the major songs are in the mix so you will be able to sing and dance to your favourites. Fans are particularly enraptured with Taylor Swift’s wardrobe on tour , which features custom designs from Versace, Zuhair Murad and Oscar de la Renta among other fashion houses.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfits

The visual effects have also been critically praised – at one point, Taylor Swift appears to dive under a stage and swim along a walkway. She doesn’t actually enter any water (that would definitely be a hazard), but according to those who have attended an Eras show already, you wouldn’t know it.

Rolling Stone released one of the first reviews of the Eras tour, saying “It’s easy to compare one of Swift’s stadium shows to something you’d see on Broadway—never has that been more true than for The Eras Tour.”  The Guardian gave the show five stars, adding that there was less choreography but more heart. “Save for a few numbers, it was a less heavily choreographed routine than the Reputation tour (a good thing), more an enthusiastic acting out by Swift of each of her songs, as if engaging in a dead-serious karaoke battle with each of her screaming fans for 44 straight songs.”

Excited? Same here. We’ll be updating this article as more official news is announced.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour On Track to Become Highest-Grossing Global Tour in History

The 2023 shows earned more than $900 million, Billboard estimates. That total could nearly double next year.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift ’s The Eras Tour is poised to become the highest-grossing global tour of all time, according to Billboard ’s estimates.

While no official numbers have been reported yet, Swift’s tour should pass current record-holder Elton John ’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour with more than $900 million in ticket sales so far.

On Sunday (Nov. 26), Swift played her last scheduled show of the year, wrapping an intense run of 66 concerts in the United States, Mexico and South America. Representatives for The Eras Tour have not yet reported official revenue or attendance figures to Billboard Boxscore or any other trade journal or news entity, but the enormity of The Eras Tour is impossible to ignore, with a total that amounts to a staggering average of nearly $14 million per show.

9 Things Other Artists Can Learn From Taylor Swift’s Blockbuster Eras Tour

Dating back almost 40 years, all Boxscore rankings are based on figures reported to Billboard . Data is reported from a variety of official industry sources, from artist managers and agents to promoters and venue executives. Reporting has always been voluntary, and some artists, venues and promoters opt to withhold data from representation on our charts. It is not uncommon for artists to not report — or to wait until the end of a tour, which is still more than a year away in Swift’s case — though it’s rare that such a well-documented blockbuster tour, in contention for top year-end honors, is not submitted. Swift’s abstention disqualifies her from appearing on year-end Boxscore charts .

Swift kicked off The Eras Tour in Glendale, Ariz., on March 17, playing 53 domestic shows before wrapping at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., outside Los Angeles, on Aug. 9. She hit a total of 20 U.S. cities, and 11 of those venues have provided attendance figures to Billboard . Based on those numbers, as well as estimates based on aggressive scaling at the other nine stadiums, Swift likely sold 3.3 million tickets over 53 shows in the United States, or an average of 63,000 tickets per show.

Sources close to the tour point to an average domestic ticket price of around $252. This is in line with the prices for the summer’s other major concert event, Beyoncé ’s Renaissance World Tour, which maintained a $135 ticket in Europe and a $253 ticket in North America. While ticket prices might dip in certain markets and bloom in others, using that number as an average puts the U.S. leg of The Eras Tour at $838.3 million. That total gross spreads out to $15.8 million per show, a staggering figure that exceeds recent tours by Bad Bunny , Beyoncé, and The Rolling Stones , each of which had giant totals of their own.

That projected $838 million haul is more than enough to make Eras the highest-grossing U.S. and North American tour ever. John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour holds the official Boxscore title, with $567.7 million in the United States and Canada. That total reflects 135 shows over a span of four years, compared to Swift’s 53 shows in less than six months.

Moreover, The Eras Tour’s U.S. gross would situate it as the second-highest grossing tour of all time based on global figures, before even crossing the border. John’s farewell tour remains the official record-holder with $939.1 million.

Since wrapping the Eras Tour’s U.S. leg, Swift played four shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol (Aug. 24-27) and, more recently, nine South American shows, spread between Buenos Aires in Argentina and Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Those dates bring her much closer to John’s global record, even based on relatively conservative projections. But as we’ve seen with virtually every worldwide stadium tour in the last two years, the post-pandemic surge in ticket prices hasn’t been as severe outside the United States.

Further, these are Swift’s first shows in these Latin American markets. That means pent-up demand likely drove huge sales, though her base isn’t quite as explosive there as it is in the States.

Taylor Swift's Biggest Scalper for the Eras Tour: Her Fans

Based on estimates considering the high end of grosses and ticket prices for each Latin American venue’s post-pandemic history, The Eras Tour likely earned another $60 million to $75 million and more than 750,000 tickets from those 13 shows.

In all, Billboard estimates that Swift has generated $906.1 million and sold 4.1 million tickets in 2023 across all shows in the United States, Mexico and South America. That would unofficially make The Eras Tour the biggest tour of 2023. And when considering Swift’s total revenue from the tour, it doesn’t even account for merchandise sales, sponsorships, music streaming and sales boosts, or her self-produced and released Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film.

Swift is scheduled to resume The Eras Tour on Feb. 7 with four shows at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Then, she’ll play seven shows in Australia and six in Singapore. In May, she kicks off a 50-date run in Europe before returning to North America for 18 shows in new markets, including the tour’s first entry into Canada. In all, that’s 85 shows to go, with the possibility of more to come, considering her recent concert additions to runs in London and Vancouver.

These upcoming international legs are already more ambitious than any previous Swift tour. While this year’s 53 U.S. shows are in line with what she did on 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour and 2015’s The 1989 World Tour, those treks included just six and seven shows in Europe, respectively — a fraction of next year’s slate of 50.

8 Sweetest Moments Between Taylor Swift & Young Swifties on The Eras Tour

If we use the comparison between Beyoncé’s recent European and North American grosses as a north star, in Europe, Swift could be looking at $8.5 million per show, or about $420 million over the entire leg. And even if next year’s North American shows dip from 2023’s record-breakers, the U.S. and Canada shows could add another $240 million to 260 million. Including the 17 shows in Asia and Australia, The Eras Tour is likely headed toward a total gross of $1.6 billion to $1.7 billion by the end of 2024. It will be the first in history to earn more than $1 billion in ticket sales and will set Swift far apart from her competitors. If figures skew toward the higher end of what’s possible, she could double John’s current record gross.

Representatives for Swift did not respond to a request for comment on Billboard ‘s estimates at press time.

Breaking Down The Biggest Changes Made To Taylor Swift's Eras Tour After The Tortured Poets Department's Release

It felt like opening night all over again...

Taylor Swift turning toward the audience in her white Tortured Poets dress during the May 9 Eras Tour stop in Paris, France.

Whenever one of Taylor Swift’s upcoming projects finally comes out, pandemonium ensues, and Swifties dissect every single detail about it. While her kicking back into high gear for the Eras Tour doesn’t feel like anything new, her first show in Paris proved to be something we weren’t expecting at all. This is because she didn’t just add a set for The Tortured Poets Department , oh no, many other changes were made, and we’re here to break down the biggest updates made to this worldwide phenomenon of a tour.

Taylor Swift in her Eras Tour Concert Film

Updated The Intro To Include The Tortured Poets Department

Before Taylor Swift appears on the stage singing “Miss. Americana and The Heartbreak Prince,” a gorgeous and dramatic intro plays that features her saying all the names of her albums. Now, as you can see in the video below, The Tortured Poets Department has been added to the intro:

🚨| "The Tortured Poets Department" in The Eras Tour intro"Straight from The Tortured Poets Department" pic.twitter.com/EnFYf98aK1 May 9, 2024

While everyone knew TTPD would probably be added to the setlist, seeing this intro for the first time really drove the point home that this album is now a chapter in the epic that is the Eras Tour setlist.

The Order Of The Eras Changed

Maybe the biggest jump scare of the show came when Swifties realized the order of the sets had changed. We’ve become so accustomed to the show Swift has been performing for over a year that altering the order of its sections was jarring in the best way.

To illustrate the differences in the setlist, here’s a side-by-side comparison of the order Swift goes through her albums in The Eras Tour pre and post- The Tortured Poets Department's release:

As you can see, along with adding The Tortured Poets Department , Red was moved up in the set, and folklore and evermore were combined. These two actions have made it so the overall order of the show is very different in terms of the way we journey through the albums.

Taylor Swift Mashed Folklore And Evermore Together, Creating ‘Folkmore’

Arguably, the biggest change Swift made to the concert (other than adding the TTPD set, but more on that later) came when everyone realized the folklore and evermore sets had been combined into one. According to a TikTok posted by alanathegreat , the pop star said:

CINEMABLEND NEWSLETTER

Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

On the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters and combined them into one chapter. You can call it folkmore, you can call it everlore, you can call it the sister albums. You can call it anything you want as long as you promise to sing ‘champagne problems.’

The combination of the two albums means this is where the greatest number of cuts happened. From evermore , Swift left out “tis the damn season” and “tolerate it.” And from folklore she cut “the 1” and “the last great american dynasty.” At this point, here’s what the folkmore set looks like:

  • champagne problems
  • illicit affairs
  • my tears ricochet

As someone who gained a new appreciation for folklore and evermore after seeing the Eras Tour concert movie , these cuts hurt just a little bit. However, it’s impossible to deny how logical it is for her to combine the sister albums to add some time to her show.

Lover And Speak Now Also Have Shorter Set Lists

Along with losing songs from folklore and evermore , Swift cut one song from her Lover set and one from Speak Now . Much like when we found out the Eras Tour movie would be shorter than the live concert, the release of TTPD made me nervous that other songs would be cut. Sadly, in this process, we lost “The Archer ” and “Long Live.”

“The Archer” was the number that closed out the Lover set, and it was wonderful seeing Swift perform it by herself during the opening section of the concert. Sadly, it got cut for time, and it will be dearly missed.

Along with that, we lost one of the two songs in the Speak Now set, “Long Live.” When I saw The Eras Tour live , it was a week after she had added “Long Live” to the setlist , and it was amazing! The song is written for the fans, and screaming it along with Taylor Swift as she played that koi fish guitar was one of my favorite moments. However, sadly the track was cut, and now many Swifties are feeling like this:

me after seeing long live was CUT #ParisTSTheErasTour pic.twitter.com/cYNaOSBsGe May 9, 2024

For those wondering about the unmentioned sets, the tracklists for Fearless, Red, Reputation, 1989 and Midnights stayed the same. Swift also still performs two surprise songs – at her first show back, it was “Paris” and “loml.”

While these updates are hard losses to take, it’s logical why she did it, because, as we’re going to talk about next, The Tortured Poets Department now has its own set.

Taylor Swift in a band jacket with her dancers as marching band members behind her duirng the Paris, France show of The Eras tour on May 9.

The Tortured Poets Department Set Was Added

Yes, we lost a few songs, but we also gained so much with the addition of The Tortured Poets Department . Donning a gorgeous white dress that features a skirt that has the lyrics to songs on the album all over it in cursive, Taylor Swift brought the theatrics and the drama to this set.

The song selection for this section is also top tier because Swift chose to perform (in this order):

  • But Dady, I Love Him
  • So High School
  • Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?
  • The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  • I Can Do It With A Broken Heart

All-in-all Swift’s set brings some of the most heartbreaking lyrics on TTPD to life, and it immerses the audience into the white world of The Tortured Poets Department.

Taylor Swift in her pink and blue 1989 outfit with her dancers behind her during her first show of the Eras Tour on May 9 in Paris, France.

Every Set Got A New Outfit…Except Reputation

Now, the Eras Tour outfits have always been rotating and changing. However, normally we don’t get basically all new ensembles in one night, but here we are!

Here's a breakdown of each set and the outfit Swift wore during it:

  • Lover : She wore an orange and pink bodysuit with matching blazer.
  • Fearless : Swift donned a black and silver dress reminiscent of one of her outfits from the Fearless tour.
  • Red : Taylor Swift debuted a new “22” T-shirt that read “This is not Taylor’s Version.”
  • Speak Now : We got another “dress shaped like a pastry,” but this time it’s light pink.
  • Reputation : Stayed the same.
  • Folklore + Evermore Combo Set: She wore a new yellow flowy dress. Color-wise, it matched evermore ; cut-wise it was totally folklore.
  • 1989 : A completely new two-piece set that’s blue and pink with mismatched colored booties was debuted.
  • The Tortured Poets Department : Like the set, the outfits – a white dress and a black set – were brand new.
  • Midnights : Swift put on a new fringy bodysuit with a different cut but the same midnight blue colors.

The level of freakout about all these new outfits reminded me a lot of the time she debuted a ton of blue fits when she announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in Los Angeles. It was honestly crazy to see everything get a new look…except for Reputation .

So, is it a sign that the re-release of Reputation is coming? I wouldn’t put it past Taylor Swift…

Overall, while there were some substantial changes made, the Eras Tour is still very much what it always has been, a celebration of Taylor Swift’s discography. As she continues on this new leg of her tour, we’ll be sure to keep you posted about any changes that are made to her show.

Pink was reportedly “pi**ed off” by the imbalance of media coverage her Australian tour received compared to the overwhelming attention that Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour received.

Australian pop singer Sam Fischer, 32, made the claim on a recent episode of the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel radio show.

“I have a friend who’s Pink’s background singer and my friend Danny said she’s really just pi**ed off no one’s talking about the fact that she’s also selling out stadiums,” Fischer said.

“Pink is out here riding her bike around the Opera House saying, ‘I’m here too!’,” he added. “It’s kind of funny everyone’s talking about Beyoncé and Taylor doing the stadium shows but Pink’s also out here selling them all out.”

The Independent has contacted Pink and Swift’s representatives for comment.

The “Raise Your Glass” singer, 44, travelled the country in March, performing at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, followed by stops in Brisbane and Townsville. Her arrival came weeks after Swift brought her record-breaking Eras Tour to the country in late February.

At the time, Live Nation, the producers of Pink’s tour, stated that the “Just Give Me a Reason” singer’s Summer Carnival tour had sold nearly one million tickets, the most of any female headliner in Australia and New Zealand.

Pink is currently on hiatus but will resume her tour in Cardiff, Wales, next month. She’s currently touring in support of her latest album, Trustfall , which was released in February 2023.

Meanwhile, fresh off the release of her 11th studio album , Swift returned to the stage on Thursday (9 May) in Paris , France , where she performed several songs from her newest record, The Tortured Poets Department .

Following performances from her 1989 album, the 34-year-old superstar re-entered the stage dressed in a white gown, before launching into tracks from TTPD .

She began with the album’s sixth song, “But Daddy I Love Him”, before jumping around and performing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me”, “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”, “loml”, “So High School”, “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and more.

Thursday’s concert marked her first of four in Paris, which is in turn the first stop on her 18-city European leg.

TTPD , which was released last month, has topped the Billboard 200 chart, selling 2.61 million units, the highest for any album since Adele’s 25 in 2015.

It also gives Swift the most No 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart among female recording artists. Save for her 2006 eponymous debut album, which peaked at No 5, all of Swift’s albums have managed to reach the No 1 spot.

Taylor Swift's New 2024 Eras Tour Setlist Revealed

T aylor Swift launched her European leg of the Eras Tour with a bang in Paris, introducing a slew of exciting changes during her opening performance on Thursday, May 9.

Fans, eagerly returning after a two-month hiatus, were immediately struck by the alterations — from wardrobe shifts to tweaks in the setlist. Addressing the audience at the onset, Swift teased, "It makes us want to give you all sorts of surprises!"

Of particular interest to fans was whether she'd incorporate tracks from her latest 11th album, The Tortured Poet's Department , released in April. Swift's French tour promoter, Arnaud Meersseman, confirmed additions were on the cards, although specifics remained under wraps.

The tour's evolution kicked off promptly with an altered intro, transitioning from a mashup of her albums to including material from TTPD .

To make room for the new songs, she bid farewell to some fan favorites: "The Archer," "Long Live," "The 1," "Tolerate It," "The Last Great American Dynasty," and "Tis the Damn Season."

Fans voiced their discontent over the cuts. "She really axed some of my favorite songs :(" lamented one user via X (formerly Twitter ). Another expressed frustration, "Why is she cutting the best songs? I'm so upset right now."

However, Swift officially ushered in a TTPD era to the tour, dubbing it "female rage: the musical."

She debuted the tracks "So High School," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "But Daddy I Love Him," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," "Down Bad," and "Fortnight."

As for the costume changes, Swift unveiled a new array of outfits — a new Lover bodysuit, Fearless dress, and Enchanted gown graced the stage, accompanied by a new t-shirt for the Red era saying, "This is Not Taylor's Version."

Transitioning to the Folklore era, she stunned in a new yellow dress, while the 1989 was changed to a blue-and-pink sequined ensemble.

In a surprising twist, the sequence of eras underwent a shake-up. Evermore took the lead after Fearless , followed by Red and then Speak Now . Evermore and Folklore merged into a singular era.

Why Aussie DJ postponed New York shows

Taylor Swift fans are outraged after seeing a pic of an infant lying on the ground during one of the singer’s Eras Tour concerts in Paris.

Twitter user @jacnights13 shared a photo of a baby appearing to be asleep on a purple coat in the standing room section of Swift’s show at the La Défense Arena.

An unidentified person could be seen standing over the baby in the snap, but it’s unclear whether they were the little one’s parent or guardian.

“Not to be one of those people but I would genuinely call security if I saw a baby in the pit because it is NOT safe there,” the user captioned the photo.

The tweet has since been deleted.

The fan –– who attended the Friday show in Paris –– later clarified that the photo was not theirs.

The photo quickly went viral and fans replied with their shock over the “upsetting” picture.

“as a mum of a baby that’s about this size, I couldn’t imagine being them into a concert at all. I understand sitters are hard to find, so if you really needed to bring them, you shouldn’t be in the pit. you should have a carrier for them, and the baby needs ear protection,” someone tweeted.

“how could they even think that bringing a baby in these kind of events is a good idea with,” another person asked.

Swift has now resumed her Eras tour in Europe. Picture: JULIEN DE ROSA / AFP

“can’t imagine how stressful it must have been for the baby to be in that environment,” someone wrote.

“wtf … wouldn’t a baby find it overwhelming too, it looks like they may have ear protectors on but even so it wld still be loud, chaotic, lots of movement & flashing lights etc :/ I don’t see the point in taking a baby to a concert tbh they are not gonna even know what’s going on,” another user shared.

“Literally if there was an emergency and everyone had to rush to exit that baby would get stepped on or injured. It’s literally so upsetting to me I can’t even,” a person wrote.

Reps for Swift and the La Défense Arena did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Swift’s a child-friendly act – but many thought bringing a baby was a step too far. Picture: AFP

The arena’s website made a guide just for Swift’s concerts in Paris from May 9 to May 12 and included clarifications like bag regulations and prohibited items, but it didn’t say anything about rules with children.

Another section of the website states that the arena “doesn’t recommend bringing children under the age of 4, even if accompanied, particularly due to the high volume.”

The celebrity #blockout2024, explained

On the same night the A-list descended on New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in their couture last week for the $US75,000-a-head Met Gala, Israeli military forces  launched an attack on Rafah , where 1.3 million people are sheltering . And now social media users are mad at the celebrities they perceive to have flaunted their wealth and privilege at fashion's night of nights while maintaining silence on the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

In protest, Instagram and TikTok users are sentencing celebs including Kim Kardashian, Zendaya, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj to the digital guillotine (the "digitine", if you will) by blocking them on all platforms and posting about it with hashtags including #blockout2024, #digitine, #letthemeatcake and #celebrityblock.

"We gave them their platforms. It's time to take it back — take our views away, our likes, our comments, our money — by blocking them on all social media and digital platforms," TikToker @ladyfromtheoutside urged in a clip that's been liked more than 578,000 times.

Other users have created lists naming and shaming the celebrities they deem to have failed to address the issue of Israel and Palestine adequately, so their followers may block them.

The Brits hit the red carpet for the BAFTA TV awards

Despite what some people might think, British TV is so much more than Vera and Doctor Who, and the BAFTA TV awards over the weekend proved it.

Top Boy — a Netflix drama set in the housing estates of east London that stars Little Simz (!!) — won two little golden faces for best drama and best supporting actress (Jasmine Jobson).

The Sixth Commandment — which tells the true story of a churchwarden who befriended, manipulated and murdered a retired schoolmaster — took home two awards, for best limited drama and best leading actor (Timothy Spall aka Peter Pettigrew).

And while prestige drama The Crown had a total of eight nominations this year — including Melbourne actor Elizabeth Debicki for her portrayal of Princess Diana — they didn't take home a single one.

The best homage to the royals IMHO came from Joe Lycett. The comedian and talk show host bet his two literal aunties (who appear regularly on his show) that if they could get 100k followers on Instagram he would go to the BAFTAs dressed as Queen Elizabeth I — and they did it.

Joe Lycett, dressed in a bright silver coat and ruff, is on the red carpet flanked by two middle aged women in pretty dresses

He was rewarded for his efforts by taking home the award for best entertainment performance for his talk show Late Night Lycett.

The other big fashion statement of the night was the red Artists4Ceasefire pin, seen on numerous lapels, including that of Brian Cox (who was nominated for best actor for his turn as Logan Roy on Succession). Khalid Abdalla (who played Princess Diana's boyfriend Dodi Fayed in The Crown) arrived on the red carpet with the words "Stop arming Israel" written on his palm and a bag of 14,000 red sequins, which represented children who have been killed in Gaza .

And, finally, Hannah Waddingham ( Ted Lasso ) took a shot out of her bracelet/tiny flask after losing the best entertainment programme award for her Home for Christmas concert, proving once again that she is a true icon and sending all of us online to try to find our own special bad news bracelet.

$115.2 million for performing arts schools at 'risk of collapse'

Australia's leading performing arts schools — including the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) — will receive a $115.2 million boost in Tuesday's federal budget.

As reported in The Saturday Paper , a number of important arts training organisations will share in the funding over four years, with an extra $36.9 million in ongoing annual funding set to be announced.

ABC Arts has confirmed NIDA will receive the biggest share of funding, at $51.9 million, AFTRS will receive $23.2 million and the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association Dance College will receive $13 million. Organisations securing funding up to $10 million include: the Flying Fruit Fly Circus ($7.3 million), the Australian Ballet School ($6.5 million), the National Institute of Circus Arts ($6.5 million), the National Academy of Music ($3.7 million) and the Australian Youth Orchestra ($3 million).

The new funding provides a lifeline to the organisations, who say they are at "real risk of collapse", with analysis finding that government support has fallen below 2014 levels.

Arts minister Tony Burke told The Saturday Paper: "Unless we want to be a country where quality content overwhelmingly comes from overseas, we need to properly invest in our emerging talent.

"If we're serious about wanting to make sure that work in the arts isn't only available to people who can afford it , then we need to make sure these institutions are properly funded."

What's the deal with student-led protests?!

Nothing can go right for Jerry Seinfeld lately. First his Pop-Tarts movie goes down like orange juice on cornflakes  (badly), and now he's being publicly booed!

Seinfeld was the guest speaker at North Carolina's Duke University over the weekend, where he was given an honorary degree. But dozens of students left their own graduation during his commencement speech in protest of the comedian's support of Israel.

Videos from the event show groups of students, some carrying the Palestinian flag, leaving the football field while chanting "free Palestine". Audible boos drown out Seinfeld's introduction before quickly being challenged by chants of "Jerry! Jerry!" as the actor received his degree.

Seinfeld delivered his speech despite the interruption, vowing to "defend" the concept of privilege.

"I say, use your privilege. I grew up a Jewish boy from New York. That is a privilege if you want to be a comedian," he added.

Seinfeld has been vocally supportive of Israel since October 7, when militant group Hamas killed more than 1,100 people and took about 240 hostage, of whom 133 are believed to remain in captivity in Gaza, according to Israeli tallies. Meanwhile, Israel's military operations have killed almost 35,000 Palestinians, according to local officials.

Duke University has released a statement addressing the interruption, saying the institution "respect[s] the right of everyone at Duke to express their views peacefully, without preventing graduates and their families from celebrating their achievement".

Taylor Swift fan goes viral for putting baby on floor at Paris concert

A Swiftie at one of Taylor Swift's Paris shows this weekend —  the beginning of The Eras Tour's European leg  — has come under criticism for bringing their baby into the standing area of the concert, after another punter posted a picture of the baby laying down on the arena floor. Baby finna be in the pit .

The original tweet, shared by fan account @jacnights13, was swiftly shared, with many users expressing upset.

"Not to be one of those people but I would genuinely call security if I saw a baby in the pit because it is NOT safe there," it was captioned.

On venue La Défense Arena's website is a recommendation, not a rule, that patrons not bring children under 4 years old to the arena.

The Bear S3 teaser, Gollum spin-off and more TV/movie announces you might have missed

A heap of shows and films were teased in the last few days.

Let's start with The Bear, which dropped a 42-second teaser for season three, mostly just of Jeremy Allen White looking handsome and pained in a kitchen. We were also given a release date of June 27, with all episodes dropping on Disney+.

Warner Bros. has announced its latest film in the Lord of the Rings franchise, tentatively titled Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Slated for release in 2026, it'll focus on the sinister, slimy creature played by Andy Serkis in the films, with the actor returning to his live-motion suit. He'll also direct the film, with original trilogy director Peter Jackson attached as producer. Hopefully it's better than the Gollum-starring video game released last year, ranked by Metacritic as 2023's worst game.

We're also getting a sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue — 2023's gay royal rom-com starring Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, based on the popular queer romance book of the same name by Casey McQuiston. The leads will return, as will writer-director Matthew López, with McQuiston co-writing, given there's no novel sequel for the film to work with. In the meantime, you can see Galitzine play a sexy Harry Styles-esque figure in The Idea of You or a sexy King seducer in Mary & George . What range he has.

And, finally, Heartbreak High has announced a third and final season, via a video where star Thomas Weatherall teases what was in his character Malakai's farewell letter to Amerie.

We don't get that detail – or any info on the cast or release date – but surely this means Malakai is coming back from Switzerland, right?

How will tonight’s performance differ from earlier performances?

There may be some changes coming in the Europe leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

In the previous shows, the singer used this general setlist:

The Lover era with several songs including ‘The Man’ and ‘Lover’

The Fearless era with ‘Fearless’, ‘You Belong With Me’ and ‘Love Story’

The Evermore era with five songs, including ‘Marjorie’ and ‘Champagne Problems’

The Reputation era with four songs, such as ‘…Ready for It?’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’

The Speak Now era with ‘Enchanted’ and ‘Long Live’

The Red era with four songs, including the epic ‘All Too Well’ 10 minute version.

The Folklore era with seven songs, including ‘Betty’ and ‘‘The Last Great American Dynasty’

The 1989 era with five songs, including ‘Shake It Off’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’

An acoustic section with surprise songs

The Midnights Era with seven songs, ending with ‘Mastermind’ and ‘Karma’

Nikki and Ava, fans from California, already attended an Eras tour show in Los Angeles.

But they love Taylor Swift so much that they are here in Paris to see it again.

“We’re obsessed with her,” they said.

'The tour will be different,' Paris arena official says

Raphaëlle Plasse , head of booking and venue management at Paris La Défense Arena, spoke with the Guardian ahead of today’s concert about what to expect.

“The tour will be different,” she said. “The show will be a brand new one,” Plasse said, adding Taylor Swift is adding new music to the lineup.

“I’m expecting the Swifties to be very surprised,” she said.

Who’s coming?

45,000 people will attend each of the four Paris shows, Plasse said.

A total of 30% of the audience is expected to arrive from outside of France. And 20% of attendees will be from the United States, according to Plasse. Americans are the biggest contingent from outside France, followed by concert-goers from the UK and Belgium.

The crowd is set to be young and overwhelmingly female: 56% of ticket buyers were younger than 25, and 70% were female.

“There will be a lot of parents,” Plasse noted.

Hours before the show, some fans waiting to enter the arena were already singing.

French fans in the merch line

This morning, ahead of Taylor Swift’s first Eras show in Europe, people lined up patiently near the Paris La Défense Arena to buy Swift-themed mechanise

Margaux, a 16-year-old from Paris, said she has been a Swift fan since 2021-2022, listening first to the pandemic-era album Folklore. But she now loves Taylor’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), as well.

“I’m expecting TTPD,” she said, pointing on online clues from the American singer.

“I hope she’s not going to stop doing the surprise song, because that’s the best part of the concert,” she said.

Manon, a 29-year-old from Brittany, said she has been a fan since around the age of 12. “I want TTPD, but I’m here for the Lover album, and 1989,” she said.

Standing nearby in the line, her 21-year-old cousin, Pauline, joked: “when she was babysitting me at my grandma’s house, she would force me to watch Taylor Swift… so we grew up together watching that.”

Fans wait to buy merchandise near the Paris La Défense Arena on Thursday morning

Ahead of the show, waiting outside in the sunshine, many fans spent time making friendship bracelets and exchanging them. Some already came prepared.

Fans look at friendship bracelets ahead of Taylor Swift's first Eras Paris concert

Welcome to the blog

Welcome to a special edition of the Guardian Europe blog, coming to you from outside the Paris La Défense Arena in France.

Tonight, Taylor Swift will be performing here in front of an enthusiastic international crowd, on the first evening of the Europe leg of her Eras tour.

I’ve spent much of the day talking to fans who arrived for the concert, and are highly excited to see how the show might be changing tonight.

Many of the fans here today are in their late teens or early 20s. Most appear to be longtime Swifties – and very well-versed in Taylor’s music.

They have also put a lot of time and effort into preparations for the show, from Taylor-themed outfits to friendship bracelets.

Stay tuned for updates.
