We recommend buying a Studio Tour Admission Ticket online before arriving at the studios so you can skip the lines and head straight in once you arrive.

Game of Thrones Tour

Northern Ireland's Original Game of Thrones Tour!

2022 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award Winner!

For those of you who have been blown away by some of the stunning scenery featured as the backdrop in HBO's Game of Thrones, then this is the tour for you!

Check out our News Page to see what happened in July 2017 when Kristian Nairn arrived on our tour to surprise not only fans, but our driver/guide too!

By travelling with McComb's you're travelling with the same company as the cast and crew of Game of Thrones! We worked on seasons 1 - 6, providing transport to and from all filming locations.

Choose from joining other Game of Thrones fans on one of our coach tours to Westeros, or enjoy some added luxury at a slightly slower pace on a Private Tour . The itineraries are the same, so the choice is yours!

Transport yourself on-board our coach to the Kings Road and join us for a day visiting the main filming locations featured in this phenomenal series.

All aboard for Westeros!

Every Day at 8.30am (returns to Belfast at approx 6pm)

This tour is the perfect balance for Thronies and non-Thronies alike, as we have a mix of Game of Thrones filming locations and the must-see sights & attractions of Norhtern Irelands North Coast.

Our first stop of the day is at Carrickfergus Castle for a short Photo-Stop, where you can also grab a tasty coffee to bring along. We travel along the Causeway Coastal Route seeing towns and villages like Ballycastle , which Game of Thrones fans will know as home to the actors who play Lady Catelyn Stark and Varys! This drive has been voted as one of the Top 5 Road Trips in the World, and it's here that we stop off at Carnlough Harbour (where Arya arrives in Braavos), and the stunning Caves at Cushendun (where Milisandre gave borth to the Shadow Assasin).

We then travel further along the coast to Portaneevy ViewPoint, the perfect stop to see Carrick-a-Rede Ropebridge , which featured as a backdrop to the Iron Islands, and also Renly's Camp.

After seeing all of these filming loactions we're ready for a break at The Fullerton Arms in Ballintoy for some pub grub style lunch (payable locally). As you enter, you'll "Hold the Door" of the handcarved "Door of Thrones" from Season 6 Episode 6, made from one of the fallen trees from The Dark Hedges.

After lunch it's time for a highlight of the day - Giant's Causeway . Although Giant's Causeway is not featured in Game of Thrones, a visit to the area would not be complete without a stop here.

After our trip to Giant's Causeway, we slow the pace down a little, with a photo stop at the stunning ruins of Dunluce Castle , and then it's onwards to Ireland's oldest Whiskey Distillery - Old Bushmills .

The last stop is at The Dark Hedges , instantly recognisable as The Kings Road, where Arya makes her escape from Kings Landing.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: There is some walking on what are sometimes uneven surfaces during this tour, and it therefore requires moderate fitness levels. Please come dressed appropriately for not only the season, but also for the activity. While it is always our intention to visit all of the locations listed, if there is an unforeseeing event which means it is not possible to stop at them we may have to adjust the itinerary accordingly. Your driver will always give priority to your safety, and access for the coach without causeing any loss or damage.

Please Also Note: Unfortunately we cannot currently pre-book entry tickets for the visitor centre at Giant's Causeway. You will be able to visit the Giant's Causeway stones Free of Charge (we think that's the best part anyway)!! The National Trust have also made the decision to no longer allow any coaches to visit Carrick-a-rede Ropebridge, therefore we will instead have a Photo Stop at the Portaneevy Viewing Point.

This tour is independently operated by McComb's Coach Travel. It is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with HBO or anyone associated with Game of Thrones.

The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with four, five, seven or eight sides.

Whilst at the Giant’s Causeway we can either visit a local hostelry for lunch or take a picnic if the weather permits in addition to visiting the Giants Causeway Visitor Centre or taking a brief walk to the stones.

Dorne Season 5 & Pyke Castle – Dunluce Castle

The castle is surrounded by extremely steep drops on either side, which may have been an important factor to the early christians and vikings who were drawn to this place where an early irish fort once stood. in game of throne terms dunluce castle is known as house of greyjoy, ruler of the iron islands (“we do not sow”)..

Dorne is where Jamie Lannister and Bron are captured. Close to the Giant’s Causeway is Dunluce Castle (from Irish Dún Libhse ), a now-ruined medieval castle accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland.

Built in the 13th century by Ricard Og de Burg with 9 metre towers and stone solid wall this was a must for Game of Thrones

Lordsport / Stormlands in Game of Thrones Season 1 to 8 – Ballintoy Harbour

The final stage of our tour takes us to lordsport harbour (iron islands) where theon greyjoy arrives home after a decade away and meets his sister asha..

Davos met Salladhor Sann the pirate who pledges himself to Stannis Baratheon.

Ballingtoy Harbour was built to export Lime around the world. The harbour was used as Lordsport for Theo Greyjoy’s return to the Iron Islands and also the location where Theo Greyjoy is baptised and also features in season 6 of the epic Game of Thrones Drama.

King’s Road & Sandy Bay & GOT caves

We also get a chance to visit the location of dark hedges, kings road. this is a famous location set where arya dressed as a boy, escapes from kings landing with hot pie, yoren & gendry..

The natural phenomenon of beech tree’s where planted over 200 years ago and have been haunted by the Grey Lady, a lost spirit from a near-by abandoned graveyard.

 • I recently visited the Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Northern Ireland for $37.
 • It offers an exclusive look at the HBO series , which spent millions of dollars on each episode.
 • Even five years after the series finale, the studio is still a worthwhile experience for fans.

It's been five years since the series finale of HBO's "Game of Thrones," but I'm as big a fan as ever.

When a work trip took me to Northern Ireland , I knew I had to detour to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour. By season eight, the HBO drama was spending $15 million per episode , and like any true fan, I wanted a behind-the-scenes look at where some of that money went — and what made the show so visually incredible.

The tour, located in one of the show's original filming locations , Linen Mill Studios, opened in 2022, and standard tickets cost £29.50, or about $37.

I wanted to see just how relevant the studio is today — especially in the lead-up to the new season of the "House of the Dragon" prequel series in June — and if the widespread passion of the fandom is still alive.

From there, a complimentary shuttle took me down a long, formal-looking driveway. It's easy to see how the studio remained low-key during its filming heyday — it's almost as if it's hidden in plain sight.

My excitement overflowed as I stepped off the bus to blasting theme music and a massive Game of Thrones Studio Tour sign. About 10 other visitors immediately began posing for photographs.

The impressive theming immediately drew me in.

After passing a dragon skull and armored "guard," the tour started with a green-screen photo while we waited for some dramatic doors to swing open.

A tour guide quickly explained the studio rules — mostly, no touching the exhibits (which were used during filming) and absolutely no photos of the pre-tour movie.

I won't spoil too much, but the short film gave me goosebumps. At the end, the screen parted, and we entered the studio from "beyond the wall."

On the other side of the screen, we were blasted by fog machines before standing toe-to-toe with the Wildlings. Everything was incredibly immersive.

This was one of my favorite rooms. The studio clearly takes immersion seriously.

It was fun to walk through the different memorable sets.

I learned a lot about the making of the show throughout the tour.

The 30-foot dragon skull of Balerion the Black Dread took six weeks to make before being shipped to Spain for filming. While standing next to the masterpiece, I could hardly believe that something of its scale could be transported across Europe .

Equally staggering, we learned that the crew went through 52,000 bags of fake snow and 163 tons of propane (for pyrotechnic effects) throughout the series.

Hearing about these intense behind-the-scenes efforts brought the series' magic back to life and made the visit worthwhile for me.

Behind-the-scenes exhibits and interactive experiences made the experience even better.

I was entranced up until the very end of the experience.

I don't think the "Game of Thrones" buzz is going to die down anytime soon.
