Very helpful gave good information about the train journey and transfers between trains etc. Reserved booking for 48 hours to allow time for me to checkout insurance would not be a problem. Very understanding and assisting me as I am not good with online due to age and eyesight problem.

This was my first booking with great rail journeys and so good to be able to speak to a real person. They answered my questions in a very patient and helpful manner. I received my confirmation the next day. I called and asked if I could change our cabin to the other side of the ship and that was done straight away. So far I have been very eased with the company and staff

I made an initial enquiry with Helen on the 26/04/24 about your new ‘Highlights of Vietnam’ tour departing on 09/03/25. I had a few questions about the tour which Helen answered for me and she was friendly & professional throughout. She kindly offered to hold the tour booking on option for me over the weekend which gave my wife and I time to do some more research knowing that the tour was available for us. We decided to go ahead and book the holiday yesterday 29/04/25 and spoke to Morgan who again was friendly and professional and she went through all the booking details with me again to confirm that everything was correct and I was happy to book. I duly paid the deposit and confirmation of this and the booking followed very promptly by email. It was a very pleasant experience booking our tour through Great Rail Journeys.

Cannot express enough how great this trip was, well organised, great hotels, great trips out. Tour manager ( (Garrath) was excellent who asked the party for their favourite moment I couldn't name one too hard to choose.

Norway to Rhone

We have already enjoyed holidays with GRJ around the world and we have always been treated well. The booking process is a pleasure as there is always time to share experiences and memories and advice is freely and generously given. On this occasion Lynn was helpful regarding the quality and experiences of this holiday and I enjoyed our conversation. At no time was I coerced into something that I did not require..indeed she actually was able to offer some help/advice on a holiday which we take with GRJ in a few months. We were advised of an extra discount on our 2025 which we had not been aware of and we can now sit back and look forward to this holiday which coincides with the month of our 60th wedding anniversary. Very positive experience making a phone booking.

Very easy to make a phone booking. All our questions about luggage were answered and advice about booking hotels and rail journeys before and after our trip was given - we have booked for June 2025 so it is too early to book rail tickets. We were given a rough idea of when our outgoing train might be leaving St.Pancras International and told we would to be there an hour beforehand.

Golden Triangle, Shimla, Delhi, Agra

A very enjoyable experience. Janet was a very attentive tour manager: always available when needed, but not too intrusive, and Dilip was equally helpful, entertaining and informative. This was our sixth trip with GRJ / Rail Discoveries, and it won't be our last. The holiday was fairly demanding, with early starts some days, in order to catch trains and meet the timings needed for the various site visits, such as the Taj Mahal, Red Fort etc. The whole trip was an eye-opener, being exposed to a different culture. The hotels were all very good, and the service was (in our experience) always faultless.

“Italian Chef, Great Food” Review of Aist

Aist Cafe is a great place to visit any time of the year. However if you go in the summer time you can eat outside on the ground floor patio, inside in the relaxed cafe style area, first floor with a more traditional restaurant lay out and watch the chefs at work or on the roof patio. The food is generally international leaning towards Italian due to the chef's origins. Fish courses are particularly good with fresh catch each day. The young staff are generally attentive and most speak some English. Though I did once witness the owner, Arkady Novikov cracking the whip on his staff. He does set high standards. All menus are Russian/English so finger pointing is no problem with the waiters for your choice! A good wine list though not unexpected prices are steep though there is normally a good South African or even a classy Graves under GBP100! After many visits I usually lean towards fish courses but this is purely down to taste. Expensive? Yes but the quality of food is good and generally the staff very helpful. If you want to be brave try ordering their specially brewed ginger tea it is addictive!

Went to Aist cafe a few times during my one week stay in Moscow. Excellent food. Sunday brunch was very delicious as well as the usual dinner menu. VERY nice and friendly staff. A friend of mine who doesn't speak any Russian was able to order in English and surprisingly got the right order. Considering how rude the crowd can be at other places it is impressive that these folks stay so chill and helpful. Interior decor is classy and cozy. Loved it so much especially the roof top. Highly recommend this place to both locals and visitors. I was impressed.

Visited this place with a business partner. The atmosphere was rather trendy with mostly an upscale younger crowd. The food was good - particularly enjoyed the fish baked in salt crust and the buratta salad - but the wine was really over priced and not that great.

Good telephone service but poor email confirmation

Although the booking service by telephone was good, the follow up confirmation failed to materialise. It took 3 phone calls to get the email resent - it was "stuck" in the GRJ system.

Terrible customer service.

Our holiday begins in 9 days,we were supposed to get confirmation of Eurostar train times by the 18th March,we heard nothing from Great Rail,had to ring on numerous occasions,with customer service giving me different answers to my query,eventually got someone to confirm the train times last week.We are now waiting for train tickets and information for our holiday,these were supposed to be with us last Thursday,2 weeks before the holiday,still nothing from Great Rail,I have rung them on numerous occasions to find out what is happening with our tickets,was told they would be with us last Thursday at the latest,they weren’t,so rang AGAIN and was told the tickets would be with us today,THEY ARE NOT.What is happening? This is not the service we expected,for what is not a cheap holiday.Every time I have rung Great Rail they tell you a lot of lies,contradicting the information each customer service person tells you.Where are my Eurostar tickets?Why have I never received the travel confirmation as advised?

Regarding your Final Documents and Eurostar tickets, I can see that these were sent out to you via email on the 18th and 23rd April. We normally do send them approximately 10-14 days before departure, but at the moment we are going through a major documentation update that is causing a slight delay. Little allowance for non-standard bookings

I didn't receive any confirmation of my booking for 2 working days, but was advised this was because I needed to make adjustments to my trip, even though the possibility for variations existed with it as a trip. Once contacted I was supplied with useful information.

Moscow metro reaches Seligerskaya

RUSSIA: A northern extension of Moscow metro Line 10 was opened on March 16, adding 4·3 km.

The extension from Petrovsko-Razumovskaya to Seligerskaya includes two stations at a depth of 65 m and a terminus 20 m below ground.

A depot at Likhobori is due to open next month, and will be connected with a 1·9 km spur that is still under construction. The depot will have capacity for 32 eight-car trainsets.

The first phase of the 11·7 km extension from Maryina Roshcha opened in September 2016. A further three-station extension to Fiztekh is scheduled to open in 2022. Construction is due to start in late 2018.
