Luxury volvo & ordinary buses are available from Anand Vihar bus station, New Delhi. Buses to Ramnagar are also available from Nainital, Haridwar & Dehradun. By Air : Nearest airport to Ramnagar is Pantnagar however there are very limited flights available to Pantnagar. Most people prefer to reach New Delhi airport & then hire a cab to Corbett which is 270 kms from Corbett National Park.

There are two types of accommodation in and around the Corbett National Park. Private Resorts & Govt controlled Forest Rest Houses aka FRHs. Resorts can be booked directly as well as through the local tour operators. Going with the local tour operators based at Ramnagar would anyday be a much cheaper option because the resorts have a bad habit of selling a bit high to their direct clients. But booking a Forest Rest House is a tricky one. Although you can book it directly through the govt website. Very limited availability of rooms and a massive demand make it very difficult for a common man to book directly. We would highly recommend getting it done through some local & reputed tour operator such as Dhikala Tourism.

No. Private vehicles are strictly prohibited inside Corbett National Park. Only registered jungle gypsies and drivers are allowed to enter the park keeping safety of the tourists in mind.

About Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative. The park has sub-Himalayan belt geographical and ecological characteristics. An ecotourism destination, it contains 488 different species of plants and a diverse variety of fauna. The increase in tourist activities, among other problems, continues to present a serious challenge to the park's ecological balance.

Corbett has been a haunt for tourists and wildlife lovers for a long time. Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife. In recent years the number of people coming here has increased dramatically. Presently, every season more than 70,000 visitors come to the park from India and other countries.

Jim Corbett National Park comprises 520.82 km2 (201.1 sq mi) area of hills, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands and a large lake. The elevation ranges from 1,300 to 4,000 ft (400 to 1,220 m). Winter nights are cold but the days are bright and sunny. It rains from July to September. Dense moist deciduous forest mainly consists of sal, haldu, peepal, rohini and mango trees. Forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands. It houses around 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species. Some of the historic forest rest house of Jim Corbett National Park are Garjia, Sultan, Gairal, Sarpdhuli, Khinanauli, Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela etc..

Inside Corbett Tiger Reserve zone wise accommodation facilities are available as follows:

Accommodation facilities are available in Dhikala, Sarapduli, Gairal, Sultan, Bijrani, Malani, Jhirna, Dhela, Halduparao, Kanda and Lohachaur in the Sonanadi Tourism Zone. All rooms are provided with double beds and with basic amenities. A twelve bed dormitory at Dhikala and an eight bed dormitory at Gairal are also available for the visitors intending to stay inside the forest.

Day Visit Booking

Every tourist season, Dhikala Ecotourism zone open after monsoon on 15th of November for day visit (via Ramganga Conducted Tours), while Durga Devi and Bijrani Zone opens for day visits from 15th of October onwards. Jhirna and Dhela remain open throughout the year for day visits. The Bijrani ecotourism zone is famous among the tourists for its beautiful Sal forest and expansive grasslands. Elephant safari is conducted here for the willing visitors. The safaris are a great source of learning for the visitors about Indian Wildlife and conservation efforts. Along with Bijrani, for the convenience of visitors and streamlining tourism management in Corbett Tiger Reserve, the reserve has been divided into six mutually exclusive tourism zones, each having separate gate for entry.

• Day visit to all zones are strictly regulated as per the scientifically calculated carrying capacity and only a limited number of vehicles are permitted entry during each morning and afternoon.
• Permits for day visits to the Sonanadi Ecotourism zone can be obtained from the visitor reception center located at Kotdwar.
• Permits for day visits to other zones are available online on our official website.
• Visitors are advised to acquaint themselves with gate timings and arrive well before the designated time to avoid any inconvenience.
• Private vehicles are 'not' allowed entry for tourism purposes into the park and visitors use specially designed vehicles, registered with CTR for this purpose. Day visits to the Dhikala Ecotourism Zone are permitted only through the specially designed Canter buses via Ramganga Conducted Tours.

Day 01: Arrive Corbett National Park, night stay in Corbett

On your arrival in Corbett National Park, you will be greeted by our representative and escorted to resort. Complete Check- in formalities at the resort and freshen up. Post lunch, you can head out to visit Dhangarhi museum, Hanuman Temple or Garjia Devi Temple on your own. By evening, come back to the resort. The second day of your tour is devoted to early morning open Jeep Safari accompanied by expert naturalist.

Start your day with a cup of tea/coffee and get ready for the most awaited journey.

While your jeep passes through the deep jungle there is a strong probability to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger roaming around. Keep your cameras at the ready and capture the rare images of tigers and various other wildlife species while they are resting in their habitats.

Come back to resort and take breakfast.

You may enjoy bath in swimming pool. Later in the evening, move towards Kosi River(Kosi river available in Dhikuli Village Resort) and spend few pleasant hours at the bank of the river.

Our Jim corbett jeep safari tour allows you to enjoy wildlife safari inside the Tiger reserve as per the guidelines of Forest Department of Jim Corbett Tiger reserve . There are currently 2 type of safaris allowed inside the Tiger reserve. In other words, one is Jeep safari & second is canter safari.

Jeep is an open gypsy which allows 6 people + 2 children (below 12 years) to sit together and get inside the national park. Whereas, Canter is a 16 seater mini bus and 16 people at once can go inside the national park by one canter.

Here we are providing the details about the Jeep safari in Corbett only. In conclusion, you will get full details about suitable time to visit, entry zones & costing etc. 

Fauna of the Corbett national park

Jim Corbett national park is famous for Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Jungle cat, deer species (Barking, Sambhar, Hogg and Chital), sloth bears, Asian Elephants, snake species and many more animals. There are more than 500+ bird species as well at the Tiger reserve.

Entry zones of the reserve

The jeep safari Corbett national park remains closed during rainy season from July to October because it frequently rainfalls .

However, rules are not same for every zone and Dhela and Jhirna zone remains open through out the year but not on rainy days. P.S.- Pakhro and Sonanadi Jeep safari Corbett national park are accessible from Kotdwar (Near to Lansdowne hillstation) not from Ramnagar and price is INR 5000 Per gypsy.

Best time to do jeep safari in Corbett and it’s schedule

The best time to visit is from November to May for Corbett national park. Forest department conducts  Jim Corbett jungle safari  twice a day (Early morning) and (Afternoon to Evening).

During summer time morning safaris are started at 06:00 to 6:15 AM for approx 3 hours and afternoon safaris are started at 2:30 to 3:00 PM for approx 3 hours.

During winter time morning safaris are started at 06:30 to 6:45 AM for approx 3 hours and afternoon safaris are started at 1:30 to 2:00 PM for approx 3 hours.

Day 05, Corbett National Park - Dhikala Forest: After breakfast, you will go for jeep safari ride to Jim Corbett National Park. Today enjoy your photography and take some stunning pictures of Wildlife habitat. In the evening, you will get to enjoy the jeep safari and also enjoy your coffee/tea in thick forest. On your arrival at Dhikala Forest Lodge, enjoy yourself with rich fauna and flora. Later in the evening, enjoy the dinner and then stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 06, Corbett National Park- Delhi: Your jeep safari Tour of six days comes to an end today. After breakfast in the morning, you will check-out from the lodge and will be driven back to Delhi. Upon your arrival at Delhi, you will be transfer to the airport to board a flight for further destination.
