Mariza dos Reis Nunes (born 16th December, 1973), A.K.A Mariza, has become one of the most popular fado stars of the 20th century, combining this traditional Portuguese folk style with the contemporary sounds of gospel, soul and jazz.

Following the death of fado star Amália Rodrigues in 1999, the nation were in mourning at the loss of this celebrated national treasure. As a tribute, Mariza was invited to perform a tribute to Rodrigues’ memory, with the success prompting Mariza to be encouraged to then create an album dedicated to fado music. The result was 2001’s “Fado em Mim,” which was to be a wild success, selling over 140,000 copies, an incredible feat for an artist singing in this style. It helped to reignite interest in fado music in Portugal, finding a growing market for Mariza’s music.

Mariza continued to make music in this style, releasing her second album, “Fado Curvo” in 2003, helping lead the New Fado movement into the charts. The album featured reinterpretations of traditional fado standards, gaining international recognition for her music. She received BBC Radio 3’s award for ‘Best European Artist in World Music,’ and went on to appear on BBC’s popular “Later With Jools Holland” show. With growing popularity and national stardom Mariza was invited to sing at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, performing “A Thousand Years” as a duet with Sting.

Following an EBBA Award (European Border Breakers Awards) in 2004, she released her third album, “Transparante” a year later, recording the album in Brazil. Mariza toured across Australia, Finland, the US and Argentina in an attempt to spread her music. “Transparente” went on to reach the top ten in several countries, including The Netherlands, Spain and Finland.

In 2007, Mariza received a Latin Grammy nomination for ‘Best Folk Album,’ for her record, “Concerto em Lisbon.” This was followed by “Terra,” an album that incorporated jazz, flamenco, Latin and African sounds alongside her traditional fado. But in 2010, with “Fado Traditional,” she returned to the folk roots of fado, whilst maintaining her own unique style.

Live reviews

Mariza, born, Mariza Nunes in 1973, is a fado singer-songwriter who is in fact on the World Connection label. Originally from Mozambique, she moved to Portugal when she was three years old. She has had such a fruitful career up until this point, selling out venues wherever she performs, one of he biggest successes was collaborating with Sting for the duet of “A Thousand Years” in 2004. Tonight, she performs songs such as “Loucura” and “Meu Fado Meu”; which are some of her biggest songs to date, making this receptive crowd dance from start to finish. Her stage presence is enchanting and her voice is original. She knows exactly how to use it as an instrument. It’s no wonder also that she has been such an international hit with her five studio albums all making it to a position higher than 4 in the Portuguese charts. Anonymously, she has developed a pretty loyal following in Finland and Poland too. Hats off to you, Mariza!

This was a great show. A long sequence of applause welcomed her, showing that the audience was full of fans even in Madrid. Musicians were only five, among which the well known Luis Gueirrero at the Portuguese guitar. Recently added (for me, at least) was an accordionist playing a bit jazzy style.

The show was a mix of classical Fado songs and some others more world music. A lot of humour in Portuguese but also in castillan well appreciated by the audience. The show lasted one and a half hour. Difficult to leave the place.

Marisa is a force of nature. She is exceptionally talented and, at the same time, so human and so grateful. She has a way of respecting the audience and the people she works with, which is quite rare.

She engaged so much and so well with the audience that she managed to loosen everyone and totally reverse the atmosphere, which was initially a little ‘stiff’. I hope many people discovered how fado can be a modern type of music that deals with topics which are universal. She, and her musicians, are quite phenomenal.

Just saw Mariza in Cardiff, she was absolutely PHENOMENAL!

Unbelievable!

At one point she sang without a microphone and the audience was completely silent, stunned listening to her otherworldly, sensational vocals !!

She is a mighty force on stage.

I’m already searching online for her next concert.

She has a natural organic gift, this is not something you can be taught.

Thanks Mariza, I had the most wonderful experience.

I’m hoping to see her in Portugal.

Last year we visited Vienna, specially to see a performance of Mariza. It was a great disappointment. a lot of time was spent by Mariza toget people to join a sing-along. That failed. We come from Amsterdam to Vienna, specially to see Mariza and her songs. However that sing-along is a waist of time. Very disappointed.

Marisa’s voice awakens your senses..

Marisa’s Voice awakens your senses, She's an amazing performer, She has an amazing voice. We are blessed to have her perform for us. Her performances get better each time I see her.

Awesome ❤️💫

Amazing voice !! The musicians were superb !! Loved it❤️❤️❤️

Mariza is truly one of a kind. She is incredibly talented with a beautiful vocal range that makes the hair behind your neck stand up. She is very engaging, charismatic and very funny. I loved that she interacted with the audience in different ways and made the show that much more entertaining. Thank you for a wonderful evening! The venue was big, clean and well organized. The chairs weren’t comfortable but that’s expected. Lots of leg room and spacing between rows.

Breathtaking

Beautiful voice, amazing stage presence…absolutely magnificent!!

Excellent performance!

Wonderful experience with Mariza! She is an amazing performer and has a voice that should bi written with the capital V!

The best concert experience of my life!

I'd been waiting for three years to see Mariza in NYC - and it did not disappoint. The concert was amazing, Mariza, the musicians, the music .... ! Everything. Mariza has a fabulous stage presence and the most incredible voice. I'll be first in line to see her again at Town Hall!

It was spectacular

I flew all the way from Hawaii to see this extraordinary artist and her amazingly spectacular band. She is at once Botha super force and exquisite. One of the great world singers

Amazing Portuguese voice

I’m so proud to have listened to such an amazing artist. She has an amazing voice with great range. A must see if you love Fado. ❤️❤️

Extraordinary performer, horrible viewing conditions.

I could not believe photography and video recording was allowed during the performance. It was a circus atmosphere with so many people’s continued use of their cellphones during the performance. Also very bright lights from the back of the stage focused on the audience from time to time were really annoying.

Great Performance

Mariza is extremely talented and put on a great performance for us.

Mariza n concert

Had the pleasure of seeing Mariza in concert for the Mother’s Day weekend and 70 year celebration of Portuguese immigration to Canada. It was a very special night! Intimate snd memorable. The venue lent itself well to Mariza’s vocals and musicians. Hats off to the organizers for an outstanding concert and homage to the generations before us. A proud contribution to the Magellan project on this night!

Great show amazing performance

Mariza is one of the best artists that I ever seen she is amazing she transforms the room in a way that it looks that you are at her house having a great conversation and a good time with a friend that’s how I felt during the performance You should go see the show

Not a fan of the venue

Loved the show, but not the venue. In previous occasions I have seen Mariza at Massey Hall, which was fantastic. At this venue, most of the time I couldn’t see the stage because of tall people in front, and the sound quality was not the best.

Amazing show, beautiful, pure voice.

Mariza is an artist that somehow has the capacity to sound even more amazing in person , if it's even possible. She is so personable, genuine and engaging when she interacts with the audience. Superstar!!

Incredible performance. Incredible voice. Next time, I will get tickets and splurge for closer seats just so I can see her facial expressions as she sings.

She is an amazing singer, love her

Amazing singer, the croud loved her, She was wonderful with the people, had them sing with her, very entertaining. Her Fado Sings are just out this world.

Spectacular Evening

I wasn’t familiar with this performer, I was invited to attend her concert. I was left mesmerized by her music, her way of involving the audience, she is vibrant. I will definitely attend her concert again when she returns to Toronto. A must see concert!

Finally got to see Mariza live! She is just amazing. She made the show intimate which was new for me. Just loved it. The only thing that would have made it better would be if we were in a theater setting. The seating at this event was on one level so it was difficult to see with people's heads directly in front of you. I've also heard that she sounds even better in a theater setting.

I love her voice! Her music, the guitar. It was surreal! Love love love!

Fado at its best!!

I’ve been wanting to watch Mariza for over 20 years and finally had to opportunity to watch her in a small / intimate venue. Her voice is mesmerizing and the gentlemen on the Portuguese guitar was unbelievable. It’s was a great way to celebrate my birthday with both of my brothers.

KCRW Series

Sat / oct 19, 2024 - 8:00pm.

The world’s foremost fado singer brings Portuguese drama to Los Angeles.

About this Performance

There’s no singer who embodies the sound of fado more completely than Mariza. The Portuguese musician was born in the same neighborhood that, 150 years prior, gave birth to the dramatic, expressive, and intensely melancholy music that’s now synonymous with the Iberian country. Mariza’s ability to draw the deepest emotions from a song made her an instant star in Portugal, where she’s beloved as an icon. Across her three-decade career, she’s stretched fado’s limits, combining it with jazz, flamenco, Latin jazz, and influences from her mother’s home country of Mozambique. Her “dark, rich, commanding contralto” ( Washington Post ) has led to collaborations with everyone from Lenny Kravitz to Gilberto Gil.

Mariza – The 20th Anniversary Tour

Grammy nominee Mariza (“Meu Fado Meu”), the modern voice of fado , brought these beloved, traditional Portuguese songs from Lisbon’s Mouraria neighborhood to stages across the globe.

“(Mariza) remakes fado’s ancient sadness into a majestic modern sound” ( Rolling Stone magazine).

With her rich, vibrant voice and strong artistic personality, Mariza has performed fado at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Sydney’s Opera House, and at both the World Cup and the Olympics. She’s performed with musical partners ranging from Gilberto Gil to Lenny Kravitz and Sting.

Mariza has released seven studio albums, devoted to both pure fado and a blend of these traditional tunes with jazz, flamenco and African music. Her latest, Mariza , dropped in 2018, and immediately became a chart-topper in Portugal.

Upon the new album’s release, she embarked on a world tour to celebrate her 20 th anniversary as a recording artist, and fado’s ambassador to the world.

A Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, Mariza has been honored by both the Amália Rodrigues Foundation and the French government, which awarded her the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres.

Mariza

Saturday, April 22, 2023 • 8:00pm

In the last 20 years, Mariza has risen from a local phenomenon, known only to a small circle of admirers in Lisbon, to one of the most widely acclaimed stars of the International Music circuit.

It all started with her first CD, Fado em Mim , released in 2001, which quickly led to a number of highly successful international presentations - the Québec Summer Festival, in which she received the event’s First Award (Most Outstanding Performance), New York’s Central Park, the Hollywood Bowl, the Royal Festival Hall, the Womad Festival - and ultimately earned her BBC Radio 3’s award for Best European Artist in the area of World Music. Fado em Mim was an exciting first album, showing a young singer with a rich, vibrant voice and a strong artistic personality. She still sang several hits of Amália Rodrigues’ repertory but her approach to the heritage of the great Fado diva was already so personal that she could easily cast away any suggestion of mere imitation. And within her original material Ó Gente da minha Terra, by the young composer Tiago Machado , soon became a major hit in its own right.

Mariza’s career now proceeded with even greater success than ever, with multi-platinum album releases, and appearances on some of the most important stages in the world: the Paris Olympia, the Frankfurt Opera, the London Royal Festival Hall, the Amsterdam Le Carré, the Barcelona Palau de la Música, the Sydney Opera House, the New York Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, the Los Angeles Walt Disney Concert Hall - in the latter case with a stage setting especially designed for her by none other than one of the world’s greatest architects, Frank Gehry.

No Portuguese artist since Amália Rodrigues has experienced such a triumphant international career, accumulating success after success on the most prestigious world stages, raving reviews from the most demanding music critics worldwide and countless international awards and distinctions. As usual, her musical partners are simply only the best: Jacques Morelenbaum and John Mauceri, José Merced and Miguel Poveda, Gilberto Gil and Ivan Lins, Lenny Kravitz and Sting, Cesária Évora and Tito Paris, Carlos do Carmo and Rui Veloso . And her repertoire, while firmly rooted in classical and contemporary Fado, has grown to include occasional Cape Verdean mornas, Brazilian & Spanish classics or any other themes she holds dear to her heart.

Mariza has long passed the stage of a mere exotic episode in the World Music scene, ready to be replaced by whatever new colorful phenomenon appears in another geographic corner of the recording industry’s market. She proved to be a major international artist, strongly original and immensely gifted, from whom much is yet to be expected in the future. The young girl from Mozambique, raised in the popular Lisbon neighborhood of Mouraria, has mastered the roots of her musical culture and developed into a universal artist who is able to open herself to the world without ever losing her Portuguese identity. Portuguese and International audiences are the first to acknowledge this triumph and pay her back with unlimited love and gratitude. Her numerous awards in her own native Portugal, and around Europe, include the BBC Radio 3 Award for Best European World Music Artist three times and multiple nominations for a Latin Grammy Award.

Mariza has celebrated the twentieth anniversary of her career and the centenary of the late Queen of Fado, Amália Rodrigues, with Mariza Sings Amália , her first full album of classics, released in the US on January 29, 2021 by NONESUCH/WARNER BROS. RECORDS.

Mariza and Rodrigues have a lot in common, beyond their origin. With her residencies at legendary venues such as the Paris Olympia and Carnegie Hall, Mariza swept global audiences off their feet in the early part of this century, like Rodrigues had done in the 1950s and 1960s. Through her critically acclaimed recordings and unexpected collaborations, Mariza expanded what fado could be, just like Rodrigues had done in the 1960s and 1970s. Mariza became the most celebrated ambassador of Portugal’s music in the twenty-first century as Rodrigues had been in the twentieth century.

Mariza’s World Tour to celebrate her 20th Anniversary as a recording artist, including an extensive NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, was scheduled in the 2020-2021 season, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic, The North American tour commenced in January 2022 with an exclusive performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. This concert was a part of the Center’s VOICES SERIES, curated by the celebrated American soprano, RENEE FLEMING, and which features some of the greatest Vocalists in the world. Renee Fleming says about Mariza: “For me, singing is the most direct form of artistic expression, and fado might be the most openly emotional style of singing I have encountered. I will never forget when I first heard it in Lisbon—it went straight to my heart, and I went every night to hear more. Mariza’s vibrant sound and presence have established her as both the leading fado interpreter today, and a major international star.”

The tour will continue in October 2022 on the West Coast with shows in Los Angeles, San Jose, Carmel-By-The-Sea, San Francisco, culminating in Toronto.

Health & safety: As of July 1, The Town Hall is mask friendly. Masks are encouraged but not required, unless otherwise noted.

Original show description below.

After decades of neglect when fado was dismissed as a relic from Portugal’s past, a new generation of young women has reinvigorated the nation’s cherished musical style. And no one has embraced fado with more passion and charisma than Mariza , the music’s greatest star and a full-throated singer who revels in the music’s emotional power.

With its blend of Portuguese folk poetry, Arabic cadences and African and Brazilian rhythms, fado was an unintended harvest from Portugal’s far-flung empire. These days, it’s Mariza who’s conquered the world as the first Portuguese musician nominated for a GRAMMY and three BBC Radio 3 Best European Artist awards. Her multi-platinum 2008 album Terra introduced a truly international sensibility with a scintillating mix of songs from Brazil, Cuba, Cape Verde and, of course, Portugal. And with 2010’s Fado Tradicional she returned to her roots, revisiting classic songs in an intimate setting, backed only by acoustic guitar. Mariza’s latest, 2020’s Warner Music release Canta Amália , is a 20th anniversary celebration of her career as well as a centennial salute to the iconic fadista Amália Rodrigues, of whose music Mariza gives reverent, yet deeply personal, reinterpretations. In performance Mariza is a captivating presence, stalking the stage looking like an apparition from another era, infusing the timeless melodies of her homeland with a singular style.

20 years of career, 20 years of music. 20 years of a journey that began discreetly, as an almost hidden local phenomenon, shared only by a small circle of Lisbon admirers. And what made Mariza, and her extraordinary voice, one of the most applauded stars on the World Music circuit. And a true ambassador of Fado who does not hesitate to take it along new and daring paths, without ever losing sight of her soul.

No other Portuguese artist since Amália Rodrigues has built an international career with such success, accumulating success after success on the most prestigious world stages, enthusiastic references from the most demanding music critics and an endless succession of international awards and distinctions._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_

As always, his musical partners continue to be only the best: Jacques Morelenbaum and John Mauceri, José Merced and Miguel Poveda, Gilberto Gil and Ivan Lins, Lenny Kravitz and Sting, Cesária Évora and Tito Paris, Vanesa Martín and Sergio Dalma ,Rui Veloso and Carlos do Carmo. And his repertoire, while remaining firmly anchored in classical and contemporary Fado, has expanded to include Cape Verdean mornas, Rhythm & Blues classics and whatever other melodies are dear to him.

It all started with his debut album, Fado em Mim, released in 2001, which quickly led to numerous highly successful international performances - the Quebec Summer Festival, where he received the First Prize (Most Outstanding Performance), Central Park of New York, the Hollywood Bowl, the Royal Festival Hall, the Womad Festival – and which ended up winning him the BBC Radio 3 award for the Best European Artist in the field of World Music. Fado em Mim already revealed her strong artistic personality – singing several hits from Amália's repertoire in such a personal way that she easily ruled out any suggestion of mere imitation. And within its original repertoire “Ó Gente da minha Terra”, by the young composer Tiago Machado, quickly became a huge success. His first album would reach 6 Platinum.

In 2003, his second album, Fado Curvo, appeared, which would again reach the mark of 6 Platinum Records. A step forward in the process of reinforcing his personal style and his own repertoire, with the help of excellent arrangements by Carlos Maria Trindade. Amália was still present, with her emblematic Primavera, based on a poem by David Mourão Ferreira, but so was José Afonso, icon of the democratic opposition to the Salazar regime in the 60s and 70s, and much of the other material was new and inspired._cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

Fado Curvo would go on to reach 6th place on the Billboard World Music chart and win the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis and the European Border Breakers Award, given at MIDEM 2004. Mariza's public performances multiplied, with great personal triumphs at the Royal Festival Hall in London, at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, at the Théâtre de le Ville in Paris, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra), at the Teatro Albéniz in Madrid or at the Teatre Grec in Barcelona._cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

His style can be seen on his Live in London DVD recording March 2003 recital at Union Chapel and demonstrates his impressive vocal skills and growing self-confidence on stage. In 2004, together with Carlos do Carmo, she would be nominated by the Mayor of Lisbon as Ambassador for the Candidature of Fado to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which would be approved by UNESCO in November 2011.

2005, the year in which she received the Best Interpreter Award from the Amália Rodrigues Foundation and was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, would be a particularly notable year for Mariza in the artistic field, with the departure of her third studio work, Transparente. In this album, 4xPlatina, a new and more mature facet would emerge, so sure of his vocal gifts that he could now afford to show his full powers, impressing with his serenity and intelligence, articulating the text in an even more expressive. She knew how to find the opportunity to pay tribute to three great fado singers with whom she feels deep artistic and personal affinities: Amália, Fernando Maurício, with whom she sang several times in the Mouraria neighborhood where they both lived; and Carlos do Carmo, whose advice Mariza has always recognized as an important formative factor in her artistic personality.

A CD and a DVD of his anthological concert in Lisbon in September 2005, with the accompaniment of the Lisbon Symphony directed by Morelenbaum himself, would be released in 2006 and would reach, CD and DVD, a total of 5 Platinum awards. In the same year, she would receive from the hands of the President of the Republic, Jorge Sampaio, the degree of Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique.

Mariza's career would continue from then on with greater success than ever, with constant performances on the most important stages in the world: the Olympia in Paris, the Opera in Frankfurt Opera, the Royal Festival Hall in London, Le Carré in Amsterdam. , the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Sydney Opera House, the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles – in the latter case with a scenography specially conceived for this purpose by none other than Frank Gehry .

In 2007, he was one of the main stars of the film Fados, by Spanish director Carlos Saura, shown in almost one hundred countries, and starred in the documentary Mariza and the History of Fado, produced for the BBC by music critic Simon Broughton. The following year, he participated prominently in the first documentary series on Portuguese public television on the History of Fado, Trovas Antigas, Saudade Louca, narrated by Carlos do Carmo from a script by Rui Vieira Nery.

Also in 2008 came his fourth album, Terra¸ with musical direction by José Limón, bringing together the new repertoire that he had interpreted in his most recent tours, with hits such as “Alfama” and “Rosa Branca” and partnerships with Tito Paris, Concha Buika, Ivan Lins and Dominic Miller. “Earth” is already Triple Platinum.

2010 would be the year of a very special project, Fado Tradicional, (Double Platinum), in which Mariza would reaffirm her connection to the most authentic tradition of classical Fado, returning to some of the most distinguished composers in the history of the genre, such as Alfredo Marceneiro, although with an openly individual and contemporary interpretive approach. That same year, she would be decorated by the French Government with the degree of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.

After a Best Of, also Triple Platinum, released in 2014, bringing together her most striking themes and including among three unpublished (one of them O Tempo Não Pára) “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin recorded with Ivan Lins, Mariza published in 2015 Mundo , an album that reached Double Platinum and was number 1 in sales in Portugal. In this album we find, among other great themes, a song that is today one of the biggest hits of Portuguese music “Best De Mim”, which is today an inspiration for many people.

In 2018 Mariza, the album on which he recorded Matias Damásio or Héber Marques, spent nine weeks at the top of the sales charts; the video for the single “Quem Me Dera” received around 27 million views on YouTube and the single achieved the Platinum mark. The album, which also achieved the Platinum award, was considered the best European album of the year by Songlines magazine and was also nominated for the Latin Grammy, having been presented on a world tour with one hundred and a half concerts, covering 200 thousand kilometers, which ended in a sold-out Altice Arena. During this period, Mariza received the Luso-Spanish Prize for Art and Culture and was appointed Master of Mediterranean Music by the Berklee College of Music.

This year, the 20th of her career, Mariza returns to her roots and demonstrates the full force of her personality and talent in the album Mariza Canta Amália. Once again produced by Jaques Morelenbaum, the new work features Mariza in full possession of all her interpretive talents, passing with praise and distinction in the exam that is to dedicate an entire record to Amália's repertoire imposing her own reading and interpretation.

In the last twenty years, Mariza has long surpassed the stage where it could be just a mere exotic episode in the World Music scene, capable of being replaced by any new colorful phenomenon that appears in another geographic corner of the record industry market. She has already proved to be a great international artist, of strong originality and enormous talent, from whom much is to be expected in the future. The girl from Mozambique, raised in Lisbon's popular neighborhood of Mouraria, appropriated the roots of her musical culture and became a universal artist capable of opening herself to the world without losing her intense awareness of her Portuguese identity. And the Portuguese public is the first to recognize his triumph and to pay him with boundless love and gratitude.

Mariza - the fado star is back, this event has ended.

On a North American tour, Portugal's brightest star returns to Montreal. Fado sensation Mariza, an immensely gifted vocalist who honed her talent in the tavernas of Lisbon’s Mouraria neighbourhood, brings her gorgeous voice and commanding presence back to the Maison symphonique de Montréal stage. Ever-inspired by legendary Portuguese fadistas such as Amália Rodrigues, and leading a new wave of notable female artists who are reinvigorating the genre, Mariza honours the traditions of her art form while still pushing musical boundaries in fresh and inspired ways.

Featuring a more mature sound, which  Songlines  describes as “crossing the purity of Joan Baez with the emotional heft of Edith Piaf,” expect a performance that roams freely between joy, nostalgia, and melancholy—a passionate portrayal made even more memorable in the intimate acoustics of the Maison symphonique.

Opening act: Bïa

Hailing from Brazil, Bïa is a Montrealer by adoption and an accomplished songwriter. She embodies the true meaning of the term "artist of the world". To open this evening, she will be forming a duet with Sheila Hannigan.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!
