Customer Reviews

The visor is nice and well made. I didn't realize how wide and tall it would be. I have many visors, and they all have a tight sport fit. This visor will be worn for the 15th annual Mancation golf tournament, but I am glad I just ordered one instead of the twenty I was going to get for the guys. I truly love you guys and your channel. You are all very inspirational in your own way. I have a recommendation for a golf challenge....Incorporate 3 to 4 rotations of spin on the bat before a golf shot....it would be very entertaining.

Troy McAnarney

It looks nice, not oversized or anything, and your opponent must respect the visor. The sweat band is helpful for a fat dude like me that sweats a lot. I'm wearing it on hot days and you probably should too. Better than 2 chicken Sandys, no doubt.

We worked hand-in-hand with professionals on the course to model the Southern Marsh Tour Visor. Made from fine, tight-knit twill and washed for softness, our visor will feel broken in on the first day. For those hot days on the golf course, we also added a terry cloth moisture band in the brow of the lower crown, which captures perspiration and keeps it out of your eyes so nothing distracts on that shot for birdie. The adjustable, double-stitched strap allows easy setting and an easy, contoured fit.

Bryson DeChambeau, Ludvig Åberg highlight 5 U.S. Open outfits we love

O ne of the emerging niches in professional golf is fashion. What these PGA Tour and LIV Golf players wear continues to spark intense discussions on social media.

Fashion is a subjective topic with no right answer. Many dislike what Jason Day and Viktor Hovland wear, but many fans love their trendy style. Those two guys take bigger risks, but many tour players look good in traditional-style garments.

How it fits on the body is a main component of a good outfit. Other things we looked at when ranking are coloring, attention to detail, and risk level.

This week, the best players in the world are at Pinehurst No. 2 for the 124th U.S. Open .

Major championships are also a great time to unveil new lines or do something wild, which many golfers choose to do.

Thursday and Friday showed some great outfits from the field, but these are the five best we saw from the players.

5. Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods is fifth on this list for his Thursday outfit. That pink and white striped polo is one of the best he has worn since his new clothing line , Sun Day Red, launched. Pairing it with a gray pant pulls it together. White shoes and hats are a great way to keep a summer vibe, and the Big Cat pulled this look off well.

His navy look on Friday was sharp as well. He gives such a traditional vibe, but at the same time, it looks trendy.

Ranking: 9/10

4. Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland is one of many players who got chewed up and spit out by Pinehurst No. 2, but his Thursday outfit was perfect.

What a cool geometric polo ! The navy matches the shoes and stripes. A white hat keeps the focus on the polo, as it should. Not to mention, the bottom of the Puma shoes matches the lighter blue on his shirt, which completes the look.

He will not likely be around for the weekend, but this pairing was so good it would have been a crime not to put on this list.

3. Harris English

A name that does not usually land on the golf fashion pages earned his spot at the U.S. Open. Harris English’s Thursday and Friday and looks were good enough to land on the list, but the green pants with the light blue striped polo have such a cool vibe.

He is finally incorporating color into his wardrobe, which looks fantastic. Those green pants are incredible.

Rating: 9.5/10

2. Ludvig Åberg

Some may not like this rating, with Ludvig Åberg in second on this list, but he gave two days of clean outfits. The peach polo with the navy pants on Friday was our favorite because it’s a great color combo.

White hats seem on trend this week, but the blue rope pulls it all together. It is traditional but fits well and looks fantastic on his skin tone.

Rating: 9.8/10

1. Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau has had the best outfits so far at the U.S. Open. His navy polo with gray pants is fantastic, and his Crusher GC logo did not overtake the outfit, either.

Since he went to LIV Golf, DeChambeau’s fashion has elevated to another level. Friday’s polo, with the navy and white stripes, also looked great. He has clearly gotten his color chart done because all of the clothes he wears are ideal for his skin tone.

Will a LIV Golf player take home the best dressed of the week on Sunday, or will one of the PGA Tour guys shock the fashion lovers this weekend?

Rating: 10/10

A Navy rescue swimmer died while training to rejoin the fleet

A Navy rescue swimmer who had served a tour as a recruiter died at Naval Air Station Jacksonville while training to re-qualify for the specialized duty.

By Matt White | Published Jun 12, 2024 6:59 PM EDT

navy rescue swimmer

A Navy rescue swimmer died last week at a training course at Naval Air Station Jacksonville that would have requalified him fleet duty. Chief Petty Officer Pete Lagosh was a career-long Aviation Rescue Swimmer who had just completed a tour with a recruiting unit in Richmond, VA., specializing in prepping recruits for the Navy’s most demanding “Warrior” jobs. Navy officials said Lagosh died while taking a two-week training class that would have requalified him as a rescue swimmer for an assignment in Japan.

The Navy did not release details on Lagosh’s death except that he was “conducting training” while in “on-duty status and enrolled in the Navy’s Surface Rescue Swimmer School (SRSS) Category II refresher course,” a two-week requalification course for rescue swimmers who have been away from duty at least a year.

Navy rescue swimmers qualify as aircrew members and also pass a difficult initial qualification school for swimmer duty. In fleet duty, they are regularly tested for high levels of fitness and participate in demanding training. Lagosh, the Navy said, had follow-on orders to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 12 in Japan when he finished his requalification.

According to a GoFundMe page and social media posts from friends and family, Lagosh graduated from high school in Cudahy, Wisconsin in 2001 and joined the Navy in 2007. As a rescue swimmer, he deployed several times as aircrew on MH-60s with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 28 in Norfolk, VA.

In Richmond, he was assigned to a recruiting unit and served as a Warrior Challenge Coordinator, a position that focuses on prepping recruits for the Navy’s most physically demanding jobs, including rescue swimmer, EOD techs, SEALs, special warfare combatant crewmembers and Navy divers.

In a social media post, a former rescue swimmer said that Lagosh was a role model in their community. Erik Kopack, who now owns a Norfolk coffee shop, called Lagash “a loving father and husband, who always had a smile and was ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed it.”

Kopack said he was assigned with Lagosh in Norfolk, where “he truly encapsulated ‘So Others May Live’ into everything did. He gave a damn about the job and everyone involved.”

According to Navy officials, most of Logash’s 17 years in the Navy were spent training to be a rescue swimmer or with two operational squadrons in Norfolk.

Fleet week begins in Baltimore, ships dock at the Inner Harbor for public tours and events

by Tiffany Watson, WBFF Digital Team

Ships arriving at Baltimore inner Harbor (WBFF)

Ships are beginning to arrive at Baltimore's Inner Harbor as we kickoff Fleet Week in Maryland.

Events planned for United States and foreign vessels coming to the Inner Harbor, Port Covington, and Fells Point have already been announced.

Included in the line-up are hometown favorites such as the USS Constellation, the USS Torsk and others.

This week-long, family-friendly, free event celebrates the rich maritime traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Marylanders to the defense of the nation with ship tours, festival activities, aviation demonstrations, local food, drink and musical performances.

“We are proud to work once again with the US Navy and all our partners across the nation, the state, the city and county, to bring a world class family friendly and fun experience to Baltimore. This event highlights our history, our accomplishments, and most importantly, supports educational outreach opportunities and STEM programming, providing vital support for future leaders,” said Chris Rowsom, Fleet Week 2024 Director for Living Classrooms.

Event goers will enjoy flyovers from vintage and contemporary military and civilian aircraft, centered at the Inner Harbor.

“Northrop Grumman is committed to Maryland, to Baltimore and to supporting the U.S. Navy, which is why we are honored to continue our sponsorship of Maryland Fleet Week & Flyover Baltimore,” said Mark Caylor, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector, a leading global provider of advanced solutions for defense and intelligence customers. “We appreciate the opportunity to recognize our nation’s servicemembers, inspire the next generation, and bring the local community together.”

Below you can see the list of ships and where event goers can see them and take tours.

Tours aboard the ships are free, open to the public and will take place Thursday, September 8 - Monday, September 12 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

At the Inner Harbor:

  • USS Minneapolis Saint-Paul (LCS 21): The US Navy commissioned its newest littoral combat ship USS MINNEAPOLIS-SAINT PAUL on May 21, 2022. She is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed for operation in near-shore environments, yet capable of open-ocean operation. She is designed to defeat asymmetric "anti-access" threats and is capable of supporting forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence. Her ship’s motto is “I will either find a way or make one.” (Free Tour)
  • Tall Ship Danmark (Denmark): Built in 1933, DANMARK is a steel-hulled, three-masted fully-rigged ship. She serves as a training vessel for young people seeking careers at sea. She is operated by the Maritime Training and Education Centre, MARTEC, in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Besides training in maritime English, engineering, safety, seamanship, firefighting, and maritime techniques, life on board influences the trainees’ ways of thinking and their social skills. (Free Tour)
  • USS Constellation** (Historic Ships in Baltimore): The USS CONSTELLATION, a National Historic Landmark, is a sloop-of-war, the last sail-only warship designed and built by the United States Navy. She was built in 1854, using a small amount of material salvaged from the frigate USS Constellation, which had been disassembled the year before. (Admission Fee)
  • US Light Ship Chesapeake/USS Torsk** (Historic Ships in Baltimore): Commissioned for the United States Navy on December 16, 1944, the USS TORSK was the only submarine out of its Tench Class fleet of ten to see service during World War II. Over eighty sailors lived aboard Torsk. After numerous war patrols and duties as a training boat after the war, the TORSK arrived in Baltimore to serve as a museum and memorial in 1972. (Admission Fee)
  • USCGC 37**(Historic Ships in Baltimore): The U.S Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) 37, a National Historic Landmark, is one of the famed Secretary of the Treasury Class Coast Guard cutters built in the mid-1930's. Commissioned in 1936 as USCGC TANEY, Cutter 37 was designed for law enforcement missions, search and rescue, and maritime patrol. She is notable as the last warship afloat that fought in the attack on Pearl Harbor. (Admission Fee)
  • USNS Newport (T-EPF 12): Operated by the United States Navy's Military Sealift Command, NEWPORT is a Spearhead-class high-speed catamaran. She is designed to operate in shallow waterways as a versatile, non-combatant, high-speed transport for troops, military vehicles, and equipment. Her missions includes overseas contingency operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, support of special operations forces, theater security cooperation activities and emerging joint sea-basing concepts.
  • USCGC James Rankin (WLM 555): Named after lighthouse keepers, the US Coast Guard commissioned a new “Keeper” class of coastal buoy tenders in the 1990s. With a home port at the nearby Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, her mission includes aids to navigation (ATON) support for the Chesapeake Region. Each spring she deploys the star-spangled Francis Scott Key buoy, marking the general area where British forces commenced bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. (Free Tour)
  • USNA Yard Patrol Craft (YP): The mission of the Midshipmen-run Yard Patrol Squadron (YPRON) is to provide the Brigade opportunities to enhance their leadership, seamanship and navigation skills in a safe and controlled learning environment that mimics that of the Fleet. Midshipman crews practice onboard Yard Patrol Craft (YPs) and execute out-of-area movement orders to ports on the Eastern Seaboard. (Free Tour)

At Port Covington:

USS Carter Hall (LSD 50): Classified as a Dock Landing Ship, CARTER HALL’s mission is to transport Marine personnel, landing craft, vehicles, and cargo; land them ashore using landing craft and helicopters in support of military and humanitarian assistance operations; and support and withdraw them as necessary. She acts as an invaluable component to a joint Navy-Marine expeditionary unit (ARG/MEU), one of which is forward deployed at all times to quickly respond to any potential developing crisis. (Free Tour. Not available Friday, September 9)

USACE Reynolds: The REYNOLDS is a steel debris vessel named after John Reynolds, a former Chief of Operations for the Baltimore District, Corps of Engineers. Built in 1992 in Pensacola FL, she patrols the waters of the Baltimore Harbor and Patapsco River for debris that could be hazardous to navigation. Equipped with a hydraulic front-end loader with a mesh basket, her crew can pick debris directly out of the water. In support of the USACE Clean Energy Initiative, she runs on B-99 bio-diesel. (Free Tour)

USACE Catlett: CATLETT is 61-foot survey vessel christened into the fleet in 2017 and named after former hydrographic surveyor Harold Catlett. She actively supports the Baltimore District’s Navigation Branch Operations in construction and maintenance of over 100 Federal navigation projects on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, including a deep draft survey mission in a 50-foot main shipping channel. (Free Tour)

At Fells Point:

HMCS Moncton (M708, Canada) - A Kingston-class coastal defense vessel that has served in the Canadian Forces since 1998. MONCTON is the ninth ship of her class. She is the second vessel to use the designation Moncton. The ship is assigned to Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) and is homeported at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. (Free Tour)

Scottie Scheffler poised to continue success at U.S. Open

Change Text Size

PINEHURST, N.C. – The hats hanging in his home gym are sweat-stained security blankets. They help him remember all the exertion, all the effort, that precedes each round. In those reminders, he finds comfort.

“I always remind myself walking to the tee that I'm prepared for this, I did everything I could in order to play well,” Scheffler said. “I checked all the boxes when I step up there on the tee.”

Scheffler’s opponents also are thinking about him before their rounds. Golf is an individual pursuit, one where a player cannot directly impact his opponent, but Scheffler has become impossible to ignore. His opponents know that it will require something extra to defeat Scheffler, and in that he has an edge.

He arrives at this week’s U.S. Open in the rarest of roles, as the unrivaled No. 1 in the game. His win Sunday at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday was his fifth in his last eight starts. Even a bad bounce off a tree – and the resulting triple-bogey – couldn’t keep him from winning. He also has two runners-up in that span, and his worst finish is eighth. His wins this season have come in the biggest events and against the best fields of the year; he's won three Signature Events, as well as a second Masters and second PLAYERS in 2024.

Scottie Scheffler battles tough course conditions to win the Memorial

Professional golfers do not look for role models in the locker room. They are loathe to admit that they look up to a competitor. But Scheffler has set a standard that serves as an inspiration, one they all can aspire to because none have attained it.

Even Rory McIlroy, winner of 26 PGA TOUR events including four majors, admitted that he’s never reached Scheffler’s level of extended success. McIlroy won three consecutive starts in 2014, including two majors, but Scheffler’s past two months have been defined by his extended brilliance.

“It's just very, very impressive to watch,” said Viktor Hovland, the reigning FedExCup champion. “Definitely makes me work harder and motivates me to get better and try to compete against him.”

Since March 1, there have been four Signature Events in addition to the two majors and THE PLAYERS. Scheffler has won five of those seven events. The only exceptions are the Wells Fargo Championship, which was won by McIlroy, and Xander Schauffele’s win at the PGA Championship.

“Every week we play, he seems to build a bigger lead, and somehow make the mountain even taller for all of us to climb,” said Schauffele.

Scheffler has conquered a wide variety of venues this year, from TPC Sawgrass to Augusta National, Bay Hill and Harbour Town to Muirfield Village. This week’s venue will present an old-school U.S. Open, but in score only. Pinehurst No. 2 is unlike any other U.S. Open course, with raw, rustic native areas lining the fairway instead of thick rough, and tabletop greens that exacerbate even the slightest mistake.

It seems to play right into Scheffler’s hands. No one hits the ball better than him, and his short game, developed in childhood contests against PGA TOUR players at Royal Oaks, is an underrated asset.

Precision is a prerequisite at Pinehurst, and Scheffler is without peer. He leads the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Approach-the-Green, Greens in Regulation and Proximity to the Hole. He is second in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, second in Driving Accuracy and first in Distance from the Edge of the Fairway, meaning that his misses off the tee are smaller than anyone else.

Ranking fourth in Scrambling and 14th in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green shows his propensity to recover from the rare mistake. He has produced clutch chip-ins and hole-outs in many of his biggest victories. The putting was considered his lone weakness but that has shown pronounced improvement this year.

“What I appreciate about this kind of course is a lot of the areas around the greens are all fairway, and so it may be extremely difficult shots, but there's always opportunity,” Scheffler said.

That same characteristic will enrage his competition this week as they watch balls slowly pick up steam and roll down steep slopes away from the putting surfaces. Slight misses will be exponentially punished. Mishit chips will roll back to players’ feet. Tiger Woods said some will play ping-pong as they knock shots back and forth across the greens. But where some see Pinehurst’s most frightening trait, Scheffler sees opportunity.

It's a testament to his mind, an intangible characteristic. Scheffler’s aim throughout his life is to keep things simple, an approach that is important at the U.S. Open. He tries his hardest to reside in the present, forgetting the past so he can strain ahead unhindered toward his goal. Even after winning the Memorial for the first time, he said the celebration only lasted a matter of minutes.

“My mind kind of just goes on to the next thing,” he said.

This week, it’s another major. An opportunity to add another achievement to an impressive run. Scheffler has won 11 times since the start of 2022, including two victories apiece at THE PLAYERS and the Masters.

And now he seems poised to continue his dominance. He is the biggest favorite at a major since Woods at the 2009 PGA Championship (a tournament that Woods did not win, finishing second to Y.E. Yang). Scheffler said he doesn’t feel a target on his back, however.

“I don't really feel it, and I don't really think about it much,” he said.

It’s impossible for anyone else to ignore.
