DO NOT USE P1 TRAVEL

DO NOT USE P1 TRAVEL! I purchased tickets for the West Ham Vs Brentford game as a surprise for my Brother’s 40th Birthday, West Ham subsequently changed the date of the game and we can’t attend as we are on holiday. I contacted P1 to ask if we can exchange for another fixture, I explained that I understood that I may have to pay more for an alternative game. The agent was rude and just didn’t care, kept repeating the same sentence ‘We don’t offer refunds or exchange tickets’. I understand that this rule would apply if we simply couldn’t attended but i purchased the tickets in good faith for the date advertised and the game has been changed by West Ham. I have spent a lot of money on 4 tickets and now will lose my money and have no gift for my brother. I am so stressed and upset by this situation! Please do not put yourselves through it .. Do not use P1 travel!! You will note the standard response I have received below!! No customer service and lack of care! I was totally unaware that the dates were subject to change until I parted with my money. Please explain why I cannot transfer my money to another game? To be clear I am not asking for a refund!

Reply from P1 Travel

Hello, Thanks for your review. Since the dates for the Premier League are confirmed around 4 weeks before the match day it might be that during the booking the dates are not confirmed yet. That's stated in the booking process. Therefore it's your responsibility to make sure you can attend.Since with the booking the tickets are confirmed and on an non-refundable basis we cannot cancel or change the tickets to a different game. Thanks for your understanding.

Expense and then sell cheaper tickets for same game

Seems that you have two review site set up for the same company p1 travel and p1 travel U.K So I’ll my review on your here as well. Used a few times but I think this will be the last. What I realised is most of the games will have a massive price crash so if your going to a European game just hold off the prices are £50-£80 cheaper and even though they haven’t sent or released the tickets the will not honour the cheaper price. Not great service really all hidden in terms and that’s not great.

Hello Dereck, Thanks for your review. The price stated on the ticket is the face value of the ticket. However we paid a lot more for these tickets, to guarantee our large stock and early on sale dates. Also the prices may fluctuate due to demand and availability, therefore the price stated on the ticket is never the actual selling price. I hope this has given you a little more clarity.

Bought tickets from USA and The game…

Bought tickets from USA and The game date was changed after I have already paid hotels and flights. your agent would not exchange the tickets for a different game that meets my stay or refund the money either

Date of experience : December 01, 2023

Hello Vendetta, Thanks for your review. We inform our customers during the booking process that the event date is the probable event date and it's not yet fixed. If you then place a booking it's your own responsibility to make sure you can attend. Since the tickets are already confirmed and on a non-refundable basis, there is no possibility of a refund or the cancellation of an order. If you have any further questions regarding this, do not hesitate to contact us.

Last minute surprise

I got tickets for my two sons this week for Manchester United and Chelsea. From booking tickets to the hotels, the procedure was effortless. Tickets and hotel voucher arrived in plenty of time with lots of helpful information on transport etc. definitely will use them again

Just came home from a Sheffield- Liverpool game. Everything was as they said. No scam, ticket arrived 2 days before the game.

Dear Ozren, Thank you for your 5 stars! We will keep doing this of course!

Stay away!!!!!!

Having a game postponed (while being in the stadium and not in my home country) p1 had zero interest in trying to reimburse me or try to help me sell the tickets which were re scheduled. Overpriced tickets and zero useful customer service!

Date of experience : October 29, 2023

Hello Liam, Thanks for your review. If a game is postponed the tickets stay vaild for the new date. If you cannot make it you have the possibility to sell your tickets. Since the tickets are already confirmed an non-refundable there is no other possibility. If you have any further questions regarding this, do not hesitate to contact us.

Real Madrid tickets

I booked tickets for my husband and son for yesterday’s Real Madrid match. I read the reviews on here first and went for tickets only. I opted for the £150 seats and I have to say they were amazing right behind the goal. The tickets arrived the day before and as they were electronic I could just send them to my son as he was already in Madrid. I will definitely be using this company again. Great service as i struggled to get match tickets elsewhere!

Event was great and tickets in a really…

Event was great and tickets in a really good location … just as expected. Organisation very good… everything came at the time promised and P1 answers ver promptly to all inquiries. Hotel was unfortunately not the standard I expected…. More 2,5 star hotel. Rude reception. Turned us away at 12:00. had to return at 15:00 (!!!!) even though rooms were available. At 15:00 they told that the room is still not ready and if ok to check in AFTER the event at 23:00… a total joke. With some arguments they finally provided a room.

They fake discounts

I have been following the Tottenham vs Brighton match for the last 2 weeks waiting to see if the prices would drop. The price at the start was 279 euros which for Travel club corner tickets which for me was a bit steep. I then get an email about Black Friday deals and I see a yellow marker on that specific game saying "58% discount" but guess what the price was STILL 279 euros! As if the price jumped 238% over night just for them to put 58% "discount" on it. Today as I'm writing this it´s Black Friday and the discount marker has been removed, basically proving that this was all just to bait customers into spending money without saving a single penny. Where I´m from this is illegal business. I have bought tickets to 3 events from P1 in the past and have nothing bad to say about the experience but I will be taking my business elsewhere as a company like this should not be supported.

Hello Daniel, Thank for your review. We took it into consideration. We'll get back to you about this by email, since we also receive an email from you about this. We'll come back to you by email this week. Thanks

Abu Dhabi GP went wrong

We booked 4 days tickets to Abu Dhabi GP, and got the tickets two hours before meet up time. The event started before, so we lost a lot of time. Really bad service! Had to call so many times and didn’t get trough to someone who could help us. They said we would get the tickets 3 days before the race. And they change the day all the time. We got help from Abu Dhabi GP I’m instagram and they said that the tickets wasn’t connected to the mail, so we had to them the costumer service people what to do. Short story: they ruined our first day and that’s the pit-lane walk, and guided tours… they didn’t say sorry or anything. Would not recommend this company at all! Hard to get in contact with them as well. I had to send mail to costumer service in different land.

P1 DOES NOR DISAPPOINT for GRAND PRIX!

As a first-time P1 user, I reluctantly purchased two 2023 Mexico City F1 Grand Prix tickets online. I'd never heard of P1 and was looking for another source to purchase F1 tickets. Two months prior to event, P1 had many tickets available at a MUCH MORE REASONABLE price than its competition. P1 thoroughly explained tickets would be sent via email 3-5 days prior to start of event. I sweated this, but really didn't have to. three weeks prior I received an update reminder email about the ticketed event. A week before I received a similar update email. Finally, 5 days prior to the first race day, i received by email the event tickets, along with a detailed event program that proved very useful. Everything went smoothly upon receipt of the package. Hallelujah! Will certainly be purchasing other event tickets from P1 as it safely provides favorable prices, information and tickets for a myriad of global entertainment! Vince Moore Savannah USA

Good value for money

It was all very clear. A couple of days before the match I received an e-mail with the tickets for the match but also tickets to go to an cafe/restaurant where we could lunch and have some free drinks prior to the match. We were very satisfied with how it was all arranged. Thnx!!

Cannot see where your seats are until last minute. We've paid lots of money for seats on the very top tier. Not a UK company, not easy to reach customer service. Will definitely not use again

Date of experience : October 08, 2023

Hello Jiri, Thanks for your review. We cannot provide the exact seat number or row in advance as we rely on the exact seats we receive from the organizer. We have a certain allotment available, but it is not always the same by default. That is why we only work with categories on our website. It is guaranteed that your seats are within your booked category (marked area). This is also clearly stated on our website. We hope this makes it clearer for you.

I wanted to go to the Rugby World Cup…

I wanted to go to the Rugby World Cup in Bordeaux with friends. At that moment, P1 was apparently the only online provider to reserve tickets. Our choice showed how overpriced the tickets were. The meal that accompanied the admission ticket took place in a reasonably priced bistro located far from the stadium. Very inconvenient, so we didn't have time to eat dessert. Our P1 card cost €259; According to the menu, the meal with drinks only cost €39, the neighbor's ticket to the stadium cost €79. So what justifies the price of P1 other than making big profits!? I am very disappointed. Never again P1

Hello Jean-Pierre, Thanks for your review. The price stated on the ticket is the face value of the ticket. However we paid a lot more for these tickets, to guarantee our large stock and early on sale dates. Also the prices may fluctuate due to demand and availability, therefore the price stated on the ticket is never the actual selling price. We hope this makes it a bit clearer.

It was a unique experience

It was a unique experience. The service great. Good seat, pleasant hotel. Perfect atmosphere. Fans who enjoy the sport.

Hotel was nice, good breakfast, good bar and lounge

P1 Travel booked Hotel was nice, with a good breakfast and a good bar/lounge area. However Hotel was not near any public transport, restaurants, Uber/Taxi required to get around. It would have been good if P1 Travel had provided a Bus to travel from the Hotel to the Stadium and back again. It appeared the majority of people staying at the hotel were for the Rugby game, ie, the Wales team and supporters.

Date of experience : September 23, 2023

Ok but I paid too much

Everything worked out perfectly with nice seats and proper hotel which appeared to have been completely booked for rugby fans. A negative aspect is that I have the feeling that I have paid far too much. First of all that in February you could only buy combined tickets incl 2 hotel nights. The hotels which you could choose were not the ones that I would have been selected and I only wanted 1 night and not the obliged 2 nights. Secondly the ticketprices in February were much much more expensive than one or two months before the match.

Date of experience : October 07, 2023

All as promised

Tickets to the match were sent early, so we were able to arrange parking spots at the stadium. Seats in the stadium were exactly what was chosen, so nothing went wrong. Accommodation was as booked. We wanted to book an extra night at the hotel, in advance. That turned out to be quite difficult, because the room seemed not to be booked on our names.

These guys are excellent

These guys are excellent. I’ve been to a number of big, often sold-out, football matches in England and Europe with them, and they’ve been unfailingly efficient and reliable. Not only does it take the stress out of your planning, they source really good official match tickets and often a club lounge or similar, with the option of a hotel if you need one..

Man United - Sheffield United

From booking to actually attending the event, everything was brilliant. The match was postponed and we were informed in good time. The seats were fantastic and the hospitality and food were superb. Would highly recommend P1 Travel and wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

Date of experience : 24 April 2024

The match, which i had tickets for, was moved to a date, at which i could not attend it (because i was not in the country by then). The refund was not possible. This was previously declared, when i bought the tickets… so it was not a scam… It is just disappointing, that they even sold tickets for a match, for which the date apparently was not already fixed…

Date of experience : 13 April 2024

Great Experience

I had an amazing experience and the tickets were exactly what I requested. I got a seat on the halfway line and had no issues getting my ticket, even though it did arrive a few hours before the event as communicated.

The company showed no sympathy when we needed to cancel our tickets due to family bereavement our tickets and money were wasted due to refusal to refund our tickets. Really disgusted after using this company many times this season but never again.

Manchester United Trip

I would highly recommend P1 Travel, if you are planning a trip to see a match. Hotel was very nice, match seats were excellent, everything from start to finish was hassle free.

The experience was just great

The experience was just great. All went according to what was promised. Seats were awesome, pre-lounge hospitality was so worthwhile. Definitely to do again.

Best Experience Ever

All contact with P1 from start to finish has been amazing. The information provided was so useful and made our experience all the more special.

Everything went super smooth

Everything went super smooth. Great spots in the stadium, gift bags were a nice attention and reassured me. Would recommand

P1 travel is the best!

P1 travel was communicative and responsive to all our questions and needs. We highly recommend them and we will use them again in the future

A tad overpriced!

The experience was ok, if a little overpriced. One free drink and entrance to the Great Briton lounge, for £192 overpriced is the best description.

Very professional and most thoughtful

Very professional and most thoughtful. A great comfort when we ran into a problem in Italy as the solution was quick and easy.

Never again.

Bought Tickets for 179 € and two hours later they were sold for 159 €. That game was postponed due the FA Cup, and I couldn't make it to the game then. The worst was, that it was sold in the end for 69 € for the new date. That's hard, because you can't give them back or get an refund or something like that. My fault was, that I didn't read the whole FAQ. Will never buy anything again from this site.

P1 is fantastic!!

This is the second time a have football tickets with P1 travel, I can everybody recommend them! You can trust them and your tickets will always be on time!

Great experience.

Bought hotel and football tickets for 4 from yourselves. Everything was great. Tickets arrived for game and hotel before the event. The seats at the stadium were great. The only issue we had was we were advised at the club that the free street food would also be served at half time. This was not the case so we missed out on the food as was only served before the game started. You could make this clear when this is available at the time you issue the tickets for the game. Also the free drink was only available at half time. So a quick turn around to get your drink and have before the game restarted. I would have preferred the option to have my drink either before or after the game. Other than that, all was great.

The football match and the seats were…

The football match and the seats were great. But the hotel (Hotel Milano Palmanova) was an absolute disaster.

River Plate match experience

I bought a ticket for River Plate match vi P1 Travel in the Netherlands for a very good price. I expected it 'too be good to be true'.. Once arrived in Buenos Aires there was excellent communication (mail), easy collection of tickets... and in the end one of the best match experiences I ever had. Compliments for this organisation!

It was a great event

It was a great event. Everything worked perfectly. Easy booking, perfect seats and smooth processing of the order. Thank you very much, anytime again.

Perfection !

It was perfect ! I received all informations by mails, everything very clearly, just perfect !

Hospitality at AC Milan

Amazing time at the San Siro. Communication with P1 excellent and everything as advertised. Only concern was that we still hadn't received tickets before we flew to Milan the day before (they do however say on their website tickets arrive 1 to 3 days before the event to be fair) but they pinged through to my email account when we were in the air and all was fine. Highly recommended !

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

7-day Moscow itinerary

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

Metro Station: Kropotkinskaya on Red Line

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

How to Get a Decent Haircut in a Foreign Country

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

exploring Moscow

Travel Itinerary for One Week in Beijing

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

Metro Station: VDNKh on Orange Line

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Moscow sights

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

top things to do in Moscow

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

Metro Station: Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno on Dark Green Line / Kuskovo on Purple Line

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

one week Moscow itinerary

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

12 Stunning National Parks and Regional Parks In France

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Two Weeks In Thailand: The Perfect 14-Day Itinerary

I only visited two out of eight cities included on the route. It is a no-brainer that Sergiev Posad is the nearest and the easiest city to see on a day trip from Moscow. That being said, you can explore its main attractions in just one day. Located some 70 km north-east of the Russian capital, this tiny and overlooked town is home to Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, UNESCO Site.

things to do in Moscow in seven days

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Metro Station: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya on Circle Line / Partizanskaya on Dark Blue Line / Pushkinskaya on Dark Green Line

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

Conclusion and Recommendations

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

I know very little about Moscow or Russia for the\at matter. I do know I would have to see the Red Square and all of its exquisite architectural masterpieces. Also the CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOUR. Thanks for shedding some light on visiting Moscow.

Thanks for swinging by! The Red Square is a great starting point, but there way too many places and things to discover aside from it!

Moscow Kremlin: skip-the-line tickets and 8 things not to miss

Moscow Kremlin: skip-the-line tickets and 8 things not to miss

The Moscow Kremlin, symbol of Russi! It’s the Kremlin’s wall that you can see on Red Square. The Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin are both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites . We visited the Moscow Kremlin several times, with skip-the-line tickets and without, with my family, but also with my colleagues when I was living in Moscow.

Visit the Moscow Kremlin: tips and practical information

I will give here the key info to save time (and money) before the visit and once there:

  • Map, how to get there, opening hours
  • Entry tickets to the Kremlin and the Armoury Chamber, including skip-the-line entry tickets
  • Guided tours

Map of the Moscow Kremlin, how to get there and opening hours

The Kremlin is large, so I have created a map to help you find your bearings which you will find below. If you are interested in other Moscow maps, find them in Free Moscow Maps.

How to get there? Where is the entrance to the Moscow Kremlin?

  • The nearest metro station is Biblioteka Imeni Lenina (point 1 on the map) on the red line. On the other hand, even if we all have in mind, the image of the Kremlin on Red Square, the entrance is NOT located directly on the square. There is an entrance on the Red Square, but it is for stuff only.
  • The entrance to the Kremlin is on another side of the Kremlin (point 3 on the map).
  • Check also our blog post about Where to stay in Moscow? to be sure to stay in the most interesting districts of Moscow.

Opening hours

The Kremlin is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, except Thursday.

Good to know! It is not possible to enter the Kremlin territory with suitcases, bulky bags or animals. If you come with a suitcase anyway, there is a free concierge not far from the cash desks. The total dimensions must not exceed 150 cm (total, that is to say if we add the height, width and thickness). See the rules on the Kremlin website .

How to buy the entry tickets to visit Moscow Kremlin?

Several tickets. Later in the article I will describe in more detail what is behind the walls of the Moscow Kremlin, but we can already divide the Kremlin into several parts: the architectural ensemble of the Cathedral Square, the Armoury Chamber, the Diamond Fund and the Ivan-The-Great Bell Tower. There are entry tickets for each of these parts. So you have a choice. What is most visited is the architectural ensemble of the Cathedral Square.

Armoury Chamber. The number of entry tickets to the Armoury Chamber is limited, to make the visit more pleasant for visitors. As with the Cathedral Square, the entry tickets can be purchased online (see below). And I would recommend to buy tickets to the Armoury Chamber in advance.

There are two options for visiting the Kremlin without a guide : buy tickets in ticket offices once there OR then buy them on the Internet, then take them at the ticket offices on site with less queuing. On the other hand, if you want to have more information about the Kremlin, a guided tour can be interesting: skip-the-line, accompaniment and not necessarily expensive for many.

Buy tickets for the Kremlin on site

The ticket offices are open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day, except Thursday . They are located in the Alexandrovsky Garden which runs along the walls of the Moscow Kremlin ( point 2 on the map above). It is possible to pay by bank card or in cash (rubles). See the post How to pay in Russia ?, if you need more info.

Good to know! Saturday is a day to avoid because there are many more people than the other days, especially in the morning. In general, the crowds are higher in the morning.

Moscow Kremlin guided tours

As tickets for the Armoury Chamber are limited, to go anyway you can go through guided tours, in groups or with a private guide. Certified guides have fast-track tickets and may still have seats. In addition, a guided tour in the Kremlin is worth it: you learn a lot and with many it is not so expensive, especially now with a fairly weak ruble.

With a private English-speaking guide

Only a certified guide is allowed to show you the Moscow Kremlin.

From June to September, the Kremlin is very visited and even official guides cannot have tickets. During this period, one of the solutions for a guided tour is a group visit.

Moscow Kremlin group tour in English

The second solution is to visit the Kremlin and the Armoury Chamber in a group. This is surprising, but it is not necessarily more economical than with a private guide. However, if there are no more entry tickets, this is a good solution.

Can we take pictures inside the Moscow Kremlin?

According to the Moscow Kremlin website , “it is forbidden to take photos and videos” inside the Armoury Chamber and the cathedrals”. There is no restriction for the exterior. You can still try to take photos inside the buildings, but the guards, often guards, will quickly point you out to stop.

Estimated visit time

A visit to the Kremlin and the Palace of Armor takes around 4 hours with a guided tour. If you go alone (without guide), it’s more or less equivalent. If you have fast-track tickets or you visit the Kremlin and the Palace of Armor with a certified guide, you also save a little time.

Good to know. There is nothing to eat inside the Kremlin, except maybe small snacks or ice cream. On the other hand, there are a few fast food restaurants near Okhotny Ryad station, but above all a lot of addresses on Nikolskaya Street , near Red Square and the Bolshoi Theater.

The Moscow Kremlin: what to see?

Kremlin means fortress in Slavic. The Moscow Kremlin is therefore not the only Kremlin in Russia. Nevertheless, it is the best known kremlin. It housed first the residence of the tsars, then the seat of the Soviet government, and today the Russian government. Finally, what is behind its walls?

  • Cathedrals and churches;
  • Exhibitions and museums;
  • Palace of the Patriarch;
  • State buildings which are not to be visited.

Most of the Kremlin to see is located on the Cathedral Square .

Cathedrals and churches of the Moscow Kremlin

Dormition cathedral.

(point 4 on the map, often called the Cathedral of the Assumption)

Built in 1475 and 1479 under the direction of an Italian architect, it was built in place of a small church erected by Ivan I to mark the accession of Moscow to the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church. The first stone church in Moscow, it was used for the coronation and marriage ceremonies of the Czars, as well as for important events of the heads of the Church.

assumption-cathedral

Annunciation Cathedral

(point 5 on the map)

Built in 1489, this cathedral has also preserved magnificent fragments of paintings from its time. The floor is in jasper. The cathedral was a private place for the Czars to gather and confess. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the chaplain was the personal confessor of members of the Tsar’s family .

Visit Kremlin

Archangel Saint Michael’s Cathedral

(point 6 on the map)

Built in 1508 by an Italian architect (again!), One finds outside and inside the cathedral of Venetian Renaissance features. 46 tombs continue the necropolis of the cathedral. It is the necropolis of the princes of Moscow (independent principality of Moscow), and the first tsars of Russia. Here are the photos (author: poznamka).

Church of the Deposition-of-the-Robe

(point 7 on the map)

Built from 1484 to 1485, the church was built in honor of the relics of the Virgin brought from Palestine to Constantinople in 452.

Ivan The Great Bell Tower

(point 8 on the map)

The bell tower is 81 meters high. Built in 1508 and blown up by Napoleon’s army in 1812, the tower and the bell tower were rebuilt soon after. Also note that a beautiful panoramic view opens from the bell tower over the city.

Museums of the Moscow Kremlin

Armoury chamber.

(point 9 on the map)

This museum of applied arts brings together an exceptional collection of the treasures of the tsars. There we find jewelry, crowns, costumes, diamonds, thrones, weapons and armor, all the riches of Russian princes and tsars accumulated during their centuries of reign.

Kremlin Museum of Treasures and Antiquities

(point 10 on the map)

This museum is located in the basement of the Annunciation Cathedral. It contains objects found during archaeological excavations on the territory of the Kremlin. They are mainly objects from medieval Russia.

Patriarch’s Palace

(point 11 on the map)

Built on the orders of Patriarch Nikon in 1655, this palace includes several rooms and a church, the Church of the Twelve Apostles. The particularity of this place is the cruciform room of 300m² which has no pillars. There are also objects that occupied the rooms: furniture, the gospels, icons.

Other Kremlin attractions

There are other interesting attractions you can see during your visit to the Moscow Kremlin. For example, you can take a refreshing break in the Taïniski garden. In addition, in a small corner of the garden is a platform for helicopters, it can be used by the Russian President in an emergency!

Tsar Pouchka (point 12) is also an attraction (especially well known to Russians). It’s a gigantic cannon that weighs almost 40 tonnes! The Guinness Book of Records considers it the largest howitzer ever built.

In the same spirit, you can also see Tsar Kolokol (point 13) , a gigantic bell tower which is located very close to the bell tower of Ivan the Great.
