Originally posted by RamenRider : One of the item quests needs me to Activate Lock State by hitting with DI during block recovery. But I have no idea on how to do this. Any1 help plz?
Lock state is a sort of guard break protection that happens when you Drive Impact someone who's still in blockstun. So you need to do a true blockstring into Drive Impact. Two major ways to do it: 1. Put them in burnout, Drive Rush into a special cancellable heavy button (I know Jamie's cr.HP or Marisa's back HP will work, you might have to experiment with your character/style), cancel into Drive Impact 2. Have them block a delayed projectile and time a Drive Impact to hit at the same time The former is easier to actually execute but getting them in burnout without killing them is a pain, and without burning them out it's hard to get enough blockstun to trigger Lock. The latter doesn't require that setup but timing it (and having the AI actually block the projectile) is a crapshoot. Either way it's probably one of the most annoying challenges to do on a moving AI.

"So, I've been thinking about strength, man," confides World Tour's triumphant intro narrator. He ponders, "Is it money? Authority? A cool job? A ton of likes?"

Related: Street Fighter 6: World Tour Tips

The answer to this question sets the tone for your journey in Street Fighter 6's expansive single-player RPG mode. And while we may not know the answer yet, we can put you on the right path with a walkthrough of World Tour's first chapter.

WARNING: The following guide contains spoilers from Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode.

What would a single-player campaign be without an introductory tutorial? Everyone's gotta start somewhere, and your journey begins at the Buckler Training Center.

After Luke's flashy intro cutscene, he'll introduce himself to you. Then, you'll get to create your avatar fighter . If you're diehard for details, you'll probably spend your first several hours in World Tour mode on avatar creation alone.

Avatar creation is much more than a cosmetic perk. Your physique, including height, build, limb length, and more, will affect your avatar's range and how they move in matches .

After you finish creating the hottest version of yourself imaginable (Just me? Nevermind.), you'll learn the basics of world movement and fight controls .

There isn't much to worry about in this section. Just follow the instructions, and you'll be fine. The only caveat is that you can only use Modern Controls in Chapter 1 . (So, get ready to adapt, Classic Control purists!)

After your tutorial, you'll put your new skills to work in a match against your fellow Buckler student, Bosch. Once you defeat Bosch, the real fun begins!

Like anyone new to the big city, you'll begin your adventure in a giant tourist trap. Yes, I'm talking about Times Beat Square, the center of Metro City. Once you and Bosch get acquainted with the sights, Luke will contact you on your phone and assign the Chapter 1 mission.

Step 1: Talk To Alice

Your first assignment is to talk to Alice. She's hard to miss. You'll see her wearing a loud pink jumpsuit and glasses across the street. After conversing, she'll challenge you to a match.

Your match with Alice is less of a bout and more like a challenge mission. In this match, you must land 10 hits with assisted combos.

So, how do you perform assisted combos? All you need to do is hold down the Auto button and continuously tap the Light, Medium, or Heavy Attack button .

Step 2: Beat Two Avatars

Once you complete Alice's challenge, she'll encourage you to engage in avatar battles with other Metro City citizens. You must defeat two avatars , then report to Alice.

Engaging in an Avatar Battle is straightforward. First, approach an avatar to view their name, level, and Drop Locks. Once you've reviewed these details, press the "Fight" button to begin.

Drop Locks are unique victory conditions each avatar has. Meeting the conditions rewards items, Miles, Zenny, and more!

Engage with avatars whose level matches yours to ensure two quick victories. If you're feeling extra enthusiastic, you can fight and grind up your level for as long as you like before reporting to Alice.

Step 3: Grab A Meal At The Food Truck

After you report to Alice, Luke will give you a buzz encouraging you to recover your lost vitality with a good meal. So, walk across the street from Alice to the red food cart near the red folding tables . Then, order a pizza from Shopkeeper Biz .

You can order a Vegetarian Pizza (150 Zenny) or a Pepperoni Pizza (250 Zenny) .

Step 4: Follow The Mission Icon To The Back Alley

The next time you chat with Luke, he'll alert you to some nefarious denizens in a nearby Back Alley. Follow the mission icon on your map to locate the two enemies wearing cardboard boxes on their heads .

Unlike the battles you've fought up to this point, both avatars will fight you simultaneously. Fortunately, you'll have Bosch to help take them down.

When the battle ends, the cardboard hooligans will discard their masks, revealing Alice's brothers, Tracy and Ryan. It turns out the siblings were testing you the whole time!

This lesson covers the difference between citizens and denizens. Citizens are non-confrontational and show their faces. Denizens hide their faces and will attack you unprompted . In addition, Denizen names are marked in red .

Step 5: Buy New Clothes

When you follow up with Luke, he'll admit he knew about the ruse. Then, he'll encourage you to go shopping (treat yo'self, I guess?). Your next assignment is to buy new gear .

Head to the Drippin' Style Store by returning the way you came past the Beat Square storefronts. Drippin' Style has a gaudy sign above its shop window. You can't miss it.

Once inside Drippin' Style, you'll learn about Gear Effects. After the tutorial, buy yourself Street Cap ɛ (costs 300 Zenny) to complete the task.

Step 6: Find Luke

After you tell Luke about your new swag, he'll let you know he's arrived in Beat Square and wants to meet.

Follow the mission icon to the location where you started Chapter 1. Then, Luke will test your and Bosch's skills in a two-on-one battle!

This battle is a little tricky. Take some time to level up your avatar before taking on Luke . We were able to defeat him with a Level 9 avatar.

Once you've proven yourself to Luke, he'll officially enroll you as his student . You'll also receive a Street Fiber Enhancement Item . (Street Fiber . Get it? Ha!)

This interaction ends sourly since Bosch decides he is unwilling to wait to find strength. After a confrontation with Luke, he'll stomp away while you both longingly reach out for him from afar.

Step 7: Thank Alice

After Bosch's bitter departure, Luke will ask you to thank Alice on his behalf. You'll find Alice hanging out in the same spot she was in at the beginning of the chapter .

During your chat, Alice will refer you to her teacher, the renowned Chun-Li, and direct you to her class in Chinatown .

Thus concludes Chapter 1. From this point, you can now use Classic Controls (See? That wasn't so bad, was it?)

Related: Street Fighter 6: Beginner Tips

There are several interesting characters you'll encounter in Beat Square. Furthermore, they offer some sweet rewards. Here are some of our favorites.

Shopkeeper Biz

  • Location: Everyone's Meal Food Cart

Pierre, The Solid Gold Man

  • Location: Next to Beat Square Hair Cuts at the opposite end of Beat Square
  • Location: In front of the red Tickets stand near the side of the road

There is one hidden goodie you can scope out in Beat Square. You'll find it behind the red Ticket stand beside the wooden barrels . This SiRN Chest contains a hefty 5,000 Miles !

Street Fighter 6 guide: Drive Impact and how to use it

Image of Chris Moyse

Street Fighter: 2nd (and 3rd, 4th, & 5th) Impact

Among the core mechanics of Capcom’s new scrapper Street Fighter 6 , one of the most important to get to grips with — even in the early going — is Drive Impact (commonly abbreviated to “DI”). This hybrid defensive/offensive tool is a key part of the SF6 meta, and as such is a vital element of gameplay.

Drive Impact is somewhat similar to Street Fighter IV ‘s Focus Attack , though is arguably more powerful on defense and more devastating on offense. The move, which can be performed by all members of the roster, essentially absorbs incoming moves, before interrupting the opponent with a devastating strike, capable of pushing them backward, or even leaving them open for a free combo. It’s a little complicated to understand at first, but bear with me, and you’ll get there in the end.

What is Drive Impact?

At any point when a fighter is standing up, feet planted firmly on the ground, the player can activate Drive Impact by pressing HP + HK simultaneously. Activating Drive Impact costs one bar of the Drive Meter. On startup, DI can absorb two incoming normal attacks or special moves, (a third hit will shatter the armor and end Drive Impact). The result of Drive Impact connecting depends on what your opponent is doing.

-If your opponent is doing nothing, DI will cause damage and knock them backwards. If they connect with the end of the stage while stumbling backward, they will “wall splat”, allowing for follow-up attack.

-If your opponent is blocking, then they will simply be pushed backward. However, they will still wall splat if they collide with the end of the stage, even though they were blocking.

-If your opponent is Parrying, the DI will have little effect, causing minor pushback.

-If, however, your opponent is in the middle of performing a move, (that is not a Super), then they will be rocked by the DI and enter a “crumple” state, essentially giving you a free combo. This is arguably the best result from activating a DI, as it can turn a defensive state into a huge opportunity for a comeback.

Let’s see it in action

In the video below, you can see Kimberly land Drive Impact on Marisa. In the first instance, Marisa is simply blasted backward. In the second instance, Marisa wall splats, allowing Kimberly to follow up.

In this clip, however, Kimberly activates Drive Impact while Marisa is in the middle of her attacks. This causes DI to absorb the blow, before landing a strike that crumples Marisa, allowing Kimberly to follow up with her Super.

As you can see, DI can be devastating — eating your opponent’s move and potentially putting you in a position to fight back. And so, as useful as Drive Impact is for you. It is equally as useful as your opponent. And while knowing how and when to use DI is an important part of Street Fighter 6 , knowing what to do to defend yourself against DI is equally as important.

How to deal with Drive Impact

Dealing with Drive Impact is a long-term goal for all of us, something that we will all struggle with in the early going, before getting better and better at understanding defense over the course of SF6’s lifespan. Here in the early going, there are several ways to deal with an incoming Drive Impact.

-You can Parry against Drive Impact (MP+MK) rendering it useless

-You can Jump straight upwards, before coming back down with an aerial attack into full combo.

-You can Block Drive Impact, just remember you will be wall-splatted if near the corner.

-You can Super through Drive Impact. All Super moves negate DI, as do moves with at least three hits, (Ryu’s OD Hadoken is an example of this). Learn which moves in your character’s set negate DI.

-Most effectively, you can counter Drive Impact with your own Drive Impact . Doing this turns the tables, putting your opponent into a crumple state. This is an incredibly powerful counter, and it is on us, all of us, to learn how to smack DI the moment we see the opponent activate their own DI. More importantly, we need to learn when the opponent is likely to DI, so that we can be better prepared to counter.

In the video below, you can see Kimberly counter Marisa’s Drive Impact with her own. This can be performed right up to the very last frames of DI heading your way.

Now, I hear you. “How am I supposed to react to that? It’s so fast!” And yes, you’re right, it is so fast. This is where training and experience will come into play. As you play more Street Fighter 6 , you’ll understand the situations where people are more likely to throw out DI: When you’re cornered, when they’re cornered, at the very start of a round, when you’ve been blocking a lot of their attacks…

The mind game will come from you learning when to anticipate an incoming DI, while simultaneously making your own DI attacks fast and unpredictable. You are both playing the same game.

There’s no denying that, at SF6 ‘s launch, Drive Impact will be a highly contentious subject, causing frustration in the early going for a lot of players. This is what happens when new fighters launch, but we always Learn. Adapt. And Overcome in the end. Battle the CPU on Level 7. This level AI loves to Drive Impact, and will give you good practice in recognizing/predicting the move and acting accordingly.

And never forget, anything your opponent can do with DI, you too can do. Make it work for you.

Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Plot Details About Pyro Archon and Xbalanue

Steam is getting one of 2024's best games on august 8, june 18 is going to be an incredibly busy day for both ps plus and xbox game pass.

In Street Fighter 6 , the Drive System is a super-meter-based combat mechanic that allows for new special attacks while limiting dodges. With this system, each player has six stamina bars that refill by timed attacks and blocks or automatically during the match. And emptying these bars sends them into a vulnerable state wherein enemy strikes drain larger chunks of HP.

Players looking to master the new combat system can use this Street Fighter 6 guide to learn about the Drive Gauge and its different Drives.

RELATED: Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub Explained

What Is the Drive Gauge

The Drive Gauge is a six-bar power meter, indicating how many Drives each character can perform. When the bars are depleted, the characters enter the Burnout State. However, the meter automatically replenishes during the match and at the start of each round. The Drive Gauge also protects players against chip damage in return for half a bar of their power meter.

The Drive Gauge and the Super Move bar function independently. Depleting one does not impact the other.

All Five Drive Types

Street Fighter 6 characters have five unique moves that require the Drive Gauge: Impact, Parry, Rush, Reversal, and Overdrive . These Drives provide extra skills like counterattacks and power strikes on top of the Super Moves.

Drive Impact

The Drive Impact is an armored power-absorbing heavy strike that can wall-splat the enemy in the corners. When the opponent blocks this move, they get pushed back and lose a Drive Gauge bar. Simultaneous Drive Impacts activate slow-motion, with the late striker winning the hit.

If the enemy is in the Burnout State (i.e., they have no Drive Gauge), wall-splatting them with Drive Impact stuns them for a few seconds. This stun is unblockable; the only way to get out of it is by waiting for the Drive System to replenish.

Drive Parry

As the title suggests, the Drive Parry is a dodge and deflect move . By holding the Medium Punch and Kick buttons, players enter a focus mode that automatically blocks all enemy attacks in exchange for their Drive Gauge. But when timed correctly, the Drive Parry freezes the opponent, allowing for a follow-up counterattack.

While each Drive Parry consumes half of the Drive Gauge bar, successful dodges replenish it. Players can also deflect enemy projectiles (fireballs) to refill the bars and recover from the parry move faster.

The ideal counter for the Drive Parry is a throw. Simply throw the enemy on the ground to break their focus mode.

The Drive Rush is a quick dash toward the enemy . There are two ways to perform it: dashing out of a parry or dashing from a cancelable normal attack . Either way, their next move after a Drive Rush will be enhanced. To be more accurate, the strike that follows this move gains +4 frames, giving the performer an excellent combo advantage.

Drive Rush’s frame advantage stacks up with other enhancing moves, such as the Punish Counter. Combined, the two strikes give up to +12 frames per light punch, which is a massive gain.

Drive Reversal

The Drive Reversal is a counterattack that is executed while blocking . It is a highly effective technique for breaking free from enemy combos and restoring the Drive Gauge that may have been depleted while dodging.

While it breaks the opponent’s combinations, the Drive Reversal deflects minor damage. So, it’s not the most potent comeback move . Plus, each Reversal consumes two Drive Gauge bars, making it a costly defense.

Replacing the EX Special Move from previous Street Fighter games , the Overdrive is an extra-powerful combo of special moves . It turns every special strike of the same type into a deadly hit called the Overdrive Art, which players can perform by tapping two buttons of the same SP move (e.g., Medium Punch + Heavy Punch while making a Special Move).

The Burnout State Explained

If a player exhausts all their Drive Gauges, they will go into a state of Burnout. During this phase, their Drive bar will regenerate at a much slower rate, and they will take more damage from enemy attacks. Additionally, they will experience chip damage, meaning they will lose HP while dodging or blocking.

Street Fighter 6 is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

How to unlock Akuma as a master in Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode

None

However, it turns out that this latest character isn't exactly ready to throw himself at the services as a master to the the player avatar as easily as the rest of the roster. Quite a bit needs to be done before Akuma will even acknowledge the player.

To begin, the player must first approach an SiRN poster that's looking to hire testers. More specifically, the poster is seeking the attention of those who have acquired a variety of fighting styles under multiple masters.

Needless to say, this actually seems like it'd be the start of a quest to fight Seth rather than Akuma. As odd as it may seem, completion of this quest will unlock the means to reveal Akuma's location.

Completing this quest requires that the player to know Luke's Flash Knuckle, JP's Stribog, and Manon's Manège Doré specials. Due to the master unlock requirements for JP, this quest can't be completed until finishing the main story of World Tour mode.

After performing these special moves against Copy Fighters enough times, the SiRN staff member will bring mention to Akuma, whom he heard about from Retsu. From here, the player must seek out Retsu to ask him about Akuma's whereabouts.

Upon doing this, Gokuento will be unlocked. Going there will show a cutscene, but this first encounter won't leave much of an impression on Akuma. After the cutscene ends, Akuma will disappear without even fighting the player.

At this point, the player will have to talk to Retsu again, then return to Gokuento. Approaching Akuma, who is level 80, will initiate a fight with him, but Akuma will end it prematurely and leave without a word.

In a text message, Retsu recommends seeking more lessons from other masters. Of course, Ryu seems like a good candidate due to his connection with Akuma.

Upon fighting Ryu, he'll tell the player avatar that Akuma is likely sensing their fear. Akuma can be approached again, but the outcome will be similar, though Akuma will leave with a "Hmph" this time, implying that Akuma has noticed some improvement.

The player avatar can then seek another lesson from Luke Sullivan. After this fight, Luke will tell the player that they need to fight with more confidence.

Akuma can then be fought a third time. This battle will once again end prematurely. However, this time, a cutscene will play that shows Akuma finishing the player avatar off with a dragon punch.

He'll begin walking away, but stops as the avatar lets out a laugh. Akuma questions this, hinting at a similarity between the player avatar and Ryu.

It's only then that Akuma agrees to train the player. Check it all out courtesy of RajmanGaming HD below:
