BBC Strictly Come Dancing stars say 'we're alive' as they ditch celebrities ahead of 2024 series

A number of Strictly Come Dancing stars have addressed ditching their usual celebrity partners as they head out on the road together for another year of epic routines, emotional stories and plenty of sparkle in the 2024 official Strictly The Professionals UK Tour.

The tour kicks off on May 1 and the 36-date tour will include two nights in Greater Manchester. Alongside stops in London, Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff and Glasgow, the show, which marks the largest line-up to date, will arrive at the Lyric Theatre in Salford on May 14 and 15.

Amongst the professionals taking part are Karen Hauer, Dianne Buswell, Carlos Gu, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, and Nancy Xu. Reigning champ Vito Coppola, Nikita Kuzmin, Jowita Przystal, Neil Jones, Michelle Tsiakkos and Luba Mushtuk also complete the impressive line-up.

Audiences nationwide will enjoy the incredible talent of these multi-award-winning world-class dancers as they perform stunningly choreographed Ballroom and Latin routines in exquisite costumes, with all the glitz, glamour, sequins and sparkle of the TV show - live on stage!

The tour, directed by Strictly’s Creative Director, Jason Gilkison, will showcase the exceptional talent of TV’s hugely popular professional dancers, set within the wonderful world of the BBC show, with its stunning costumes and sparkling sets.

"It’s fantastic to unveil this stellar line-up of much-loved Strictly professional dancers for this year’s tour," Jason said. "We will be dazzling audiences across the country with the dance and choreography at the highest possible standard. To see these dancers coming together to perform on this scale is a joy for me as a director. Strictly fans are in for a real treat!"

Karen Hauer, 41, has been with Strictly for over 10 years now and has been given the role of 'Dance Captain' for the tour. "I love everything to do with Strictly, and the Pro Tour has a very special place in my heart. We’re the spine of Strictly and this is something each of us has been crafting since we were children. This is our passion so what better than to demonstrate it on stages around the country? When we’re out there, we’re alive.”

She trains every day to maintain her stamina. "Neil [Jones] and I are in our 40s now so we’re conscious of keeping up with all the younger dancers. For me, that involves walking my dogs, cycling regularly, working out every day. But there’s no better training than dancing itself. Touring makes its own demands. Time and again, though, any exhaustion you might feel simply evaporates when you’re in front of an audience. Nothing is more exciting."

Meanwhile, this will be the second Pro Tour for Vito Coppola, 31, who, along with actress Ellie Leach, carried off the prized glitterball in 2023’s TV show. "I enjoyed last year’s Pro Tour so much; it was my first time ever dancing on a stage in front of an audience," the Italian dancer said. "It took me a moment or two to get used to the space restrictions. In a TV studio, you can dance through 360 degrees. In a theatre, there’s an edge to the stage.

"But, if you’re surrounded by eleven other professionals, as will happen this time round, you somehow all dance as one body. These dancers are from all over the world but they’re like brothers and sisters to me – and what unites us is our passion for dance. It’s very special."

This will also be the second time Chinese dancer Nancy Xu, 32, has been a part of the Strictly Pro Tour. “I was so excited to be involved last year – and I wasn’t disappointed," she said. "It was one of my dreams come true. This time round, there will be a dozen dancers - I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it!

"You really get to know the other dancers when you’re on tour, both onstage and off. It’s hard to beat good quality time with people you respect so much. I know I’ll be slightly nervous before stepping out in front of a live audience but in a good way: it gets the adrenaline going. The more they want to give to us, the more we want to give back. I can’t wait!"

But Gorka Marquez makes no bones about it. "I’ve danced on all the Strictly Pro Tours," the 33-year-old Spaniard said, "and, for me, it’s the most fun part of being involved with Strictly. I love the Saturday night show but it’s in a studio.

"What’s special about the tour is that it’s in a theatre in front of a live audience. Nothing beats being able to look into their eyes and see their reaction. I really like bringing out the best in my celebrity partners, but the Pro tour gives us the opportunity to showcase ourselves."

Gorka and fiancée Gemma Atkinson have a four-year-old daughter, Mia, and a baby son, Thiago, born last July. "When we’re in London or Manchester on the tour, Gemma will bring Mia to see me: she loves to see Daddy dance. I try to get home on odd days the rest of the time. I’m a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly so I’m used to being away from home.

"But I miss the family, of course, and they miss me, particularly Mia who likes me to take her to her swimming lesson on a Saturday morning. Thiago’s too young at the moment to understand the passage of time. But this is all part of the job and I’m doing something I love."

Like Gorka, Neil, 42, now has an extra imperative not to be too far from home for too long. Last October, his girlfriend, Chyna Mills, gave birth to their baby daughter, Havana. "Chyna will bring the baby to see me if I’ve only got one show that day so I can spend time with her."

But he wouldn’t dream of turning down the tour. "It gives each of us our moment to shine and this time we’ve got more Pro dancers than ever to produce an incredible show. It also helps that we dance to a live band and singers onstage in front of a live audience. It gives everything an extra urgency."

Australian Dianne Buswell, 34, who finished runner-up in Strictly 2023 alongside Bobby Brazier, commented: "We spend so much time on Strictly focusing on the celebrities, and rightly so, but the Pro Tour is a chance for us to go out and show the world what we’re capable of. And I love theatres: the minute you step out on stage, you can not only hear the audience clapping and cheering but you can see how much they’re enjoying themselves.”

For all that, the performing and the travelling can be demanding. "For sure. We’re classed as athletes, so we have to look after our bodies. But we’re extremely lucky that a physio and a masseuse travel everywhere with us." As it happens, her birthday falls on May 6, a rare day off. So, will she be joined by live-in boyfriend Joe Sugg, someone she originally met on Strictly? “No question. No ifs or buts. Wherever it is, we’ll be together."

Strictly The Professionals 2024 tours the UK from May 1 to June 1. Tickets and venues can be found at StrictlyTheProfessionals.com .

Strictly Come Dancing fans rush to tell star ‘you’ll be missed’ as they confirm ‘taking a break’

Strictly Come Dancing fans have rushed to tell Giovanni Pernice how much they’ll miss him as he’s announced ‘a little break’.

The pro dancer, 33, revealed on Wednesday that he’s planning to take a well-earned rest after his next solo tour, following the success of his most recent one.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘I have had a wonderful time this year on my solo tour and already looking forward to even bigger and better next year!

‘After performing in front of over half a million people for seven years in row, I plan to take a little break after next year’s tour, so book your tickets in advance for ‘GIOVANNI – THE LAST DANCE’ now at http://www.giovannipernice.com.&#8217 ;

Fans rushed to share their support in the comments, as Giovanni shared the dates he’s announced across the UK in the first few months next year.

Between January and May, he’ll be touring across the country, in spots including Aberdeen, Cambridge, Truro, Durham and London, but teased more dates would be coming soon.

Follower @pollyjbird wrote: ‘No-one deserves a break more than you do. Just don’t stay away too long.’

Giovanni Pernice

‘You give so much, it’s time to take some well deserved time out for you,’ @magicroundabout57 wrote.

@cllo_750923 said: ‘@giovannipernice you deserve the break, but please ensure you come back xx.’

‘You deserve a break but please come back, sure going to miss you,’ @lorrainewhyte44 echoed.

His update comes as fans are desperately awaiting to hear confirmation about the next series of Strictly, though it has been said Giovanni will be welcomed back ‘with open arms’ after a ‘really tough’ past few months .

Giovanni Pernice and Amanda Abbington

The Italian dancer – who  won a Bafta in 2022 for his silent dance with Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis – has faced  months of allegations against his teaching style , after reports of a feud emerged with former partner  Amanda Abbington .

It had been claimed that producers were ‘undecided’ about whether to pair Giovanni with a celebrity on the next season of Strictly, however, reports later said he is ‘thrilled’ to return, with an insider claiming he’s been ‘offered a contract’.

They added to the  Mail : ‘While there are dots on i’s and crosses on t’s still to be written in, it all looks to be happening for him. As it’s the 20th anniversary, it’s a big year for the show and everyone involved wants Giovanni to be part of it.

‘It has been a really difficult few months for him. To have been hit with such claims – but not having anything he can respond to – has been really, really tough.’

Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice on Strictly Come Dancing

The publication also notes that the BBC and Giovanni’s team say no official complaints have been made against him, despite reports that his former partners  Ranvir Singh  and  Laura Whitmore  also had a negative experience with him on the BBC show and shared an ’emotional summit’ with Amanda about working with Giovanni.

‘The  BBC  are backing him all of the way,’ the source added. ‘There have been no complaints about Giovanni’s behaviour, nobody has actually come forward and said, “He did this to me” or “He did that to me”.’

And despite reported regrets over pairing Giovanni with Sherlock actress Amanda, 52, who  quit the BBC One competition after five weeks , it’s said: ‘Now everyone at Strictly is ready to welcome him back with open arms.’

When previously approached by  Metro.co.uk , a BBC spokesperson said: ‘The professional dancers for 2024 will be announced in due course.’

Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Giovanni Pernice has shared an exciting career update with fans after previously stating he'd be "taking a break".

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 33, confirmed he'd sold out The London Palladium for another year with his tour, Let Me Entertain You and was delighted as he shared the news on social media.

The dancer has been hitting headlines a lot since last year after becoming embroiled in a bitter row with actress Amanda Abbington, who was partnered with him in last year's Strictly.

The 52-year-old decided to quit the series a few weeks in following reports of a "feud" between the pair.

This year, it was reported she had sought legal action after claiming her time on the show left her with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Ever since, Pernice's role on the show has been debated, particularly after details emerged about how Abbington, 52, met with two more of Pernice's former Strictly partners, Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh, to discuss their similar experiences.

However, Pernice hasn't spoken publicly about the feud except to brand Abbington "talented".

He recently stated he'd be taking a break form work but this week shared a career milestone on social media.

In view of his 1.1million followers on Instragram, he posted a video of himself and other dancers on stage receiving a standing ovation.

He penned: "Don't mind me, I'm just a bloke from Sicily, taking in that I have managed to sell out The London Palladium for another year with my OWN SOLO SHOW..."

He added: "What a surreal night and amazing atmosphere. Thank you to every person who came along and made this such a speacial night. I love you all, G."

It came after the choreographer announced he'd be taking a break following a hectic few years.

After joining BBC competition Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, he went on to win with former EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis in 2021.

He launched his tour earlier this year and has also been on screens alongside dancing judge Anton Du Beke in their travel show.

The professional dancer is currently playing Hugo Battersby/Loco Chanelle in the UK tour of hit stage musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie , alongside X Factor winner Sam Bailey and Ivano Turco.

After watching Kevin perform at the Liverpool Empire on Friday (April 26), Stacey penned a heartfelt tribute on Instagram — where she praised his performance.

"Went to go see Kev last night. @jamiemusical. Kev, you are so v v clever. Smaaaaaaashed it," she wrote, alongside a picture of the couple posing onstage after the show.

"Embodied the role SO seamlessly. Seems the non stop research of lily savage and endless drag literature paid off."

She concluded: "Well done darlin. Also, (and perhaps more importantly, congrats to me for bringing the peddle pushers back for April 2024)."

Kevin, who won the 16th series of Strictly with Stacey , previously shared his excitement about stepping into Loco Chanelle's famous heels.

"I'm really excited to be joining the UK tour of Everybody's Talking About Jamie after being involved in the movie," he said in a statement.

"It's inspiring, uplifting and infectious and I can't wait to jump into Hugo/Loco Chanelle's heels across the country. I'm proud to be a part of a show that carries such an important message and celebrates everyone for who they are."

The tour will run until July 20, with the final show taking place at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.

Stacey will also tread the boards this year, after signing on to play Jenny in the latest run of Danny Robins' acclaimed play 2:22 A Ghost Story .

The presenter will make her West End stage debut at the Gielgud Theatre on May 25, with the show's run ending on August 4.

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Ellie Leach pens gorgeous message about Vito Coppola during surprise reunion

The strictly champions became close during their time on the dancing competition.

Matthew Moore

Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola lifted the Glitterball Trophy in last year's Strictly Come Dancing , but during their time together, the pair courted  plenty of romance rumours .

The duo's chemistry cemented them as fan favourites, but they dashed hopes about a possible romance, clarifying that they were only friend s. The actress and dancer  have remained close following their stint on the show  and on Saturday the pair reunited and as they posed for a selfie, Ellie shared the sweetest message for her former dance partner.

" Spending time with people who are good for your soul, " the 23-year-old quipped. "Love you @vitocoppola." The photo saw the duo smiling together, with Vito in a tight white t-shirt and Ellie modelling a striped ensemble.

Several fans in the comments shared their hopes that the pair would one day be an item, while others simply commented that the duo looked surprisingly alike.

Clarifying their relationship in March following the conclusion of the Strictly Tour , Ellie shared a black-and-white photo of the dancer and wrote: "Love this man dearly. Men and women can be friends and can love each other AS FRIENDS… just sayin' x. @vitocoppola you have the cutest face."

Vito has previously dated Italian popstar Arisa , who he won the 16th series of Ballando con le Stelle , the Italian version of Strictly , with. The couple parted ways in 2022 before he moved to the United Kingdom with the pair ending their relationship after reportedly hitting a "rocky patch".

Vito told Italian publication Mio that they remained on "good terms" and still had a "friendly bond" following their split.

The Strictly  champs, however, clearly have the strongest bond and they even got matching tattoos to cement their friendship , with Ellie and Vito going for a matching aubergine and bumblebee.

Strictly is famous for the so-called 'Strictly Curse' that sees couples getting together on the show or splitting from their current partners. Previous 'victims' of the curse include Louise Redknapp , who split with Jamie Redknapp following her time on the show and Neil and Katya Jones .

Some have refuted the idea of a 'Strictly Curse' due to finding love, with champions Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton becoming an item after their time on the show, welcoming a baby daughter .

Dianne Buswell also found love with her dance partner Joe Sugg , and previously reflected how the show was responsible for their love. On International Dance Day in 2023, the dancer noted: "Mad to think that without dance I may not have met you."

Strictly Come Dancing Live announces further celebrities joining the 2023 UK arena tour

strictly dancing tour

Two more celebrities have been announced to join the scintillating line-up for next year’s hotly-anticipated Strictly Come Dancing Live UK Tour: singer, actor and presenter Molly Rainford and wildlife cameraman and Countryfile presenter Hamza Yassin.

They will join previously announced Will Mellor, Ellie Simmonds and Tyler West for 32 sparkle-filled shows kicking off in January.

Molly Rainford said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the Strictly Live Tour, performing for the huge arena crowds across the UK is going to be an incredible experience. I’m really looking forward to continuing my amazing Strictly journey and getting out on the road to meet all the fans."

Hamza Yassin said: “Strictly has changed my life in ways I never imagined, so to be doing the tour on top of it all is a dream come true! I’ve heard the tour audiences are unparalleled, so I’ll be relishing the atmosphere every night, and I’m so excited to share that experience with my fellow dancers – not to mention the judges.”

The celebrities and professionals will be joined on the road by Strictly TV judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke – who is part of the tour for the first time – with the sensational Janette Manrara as host.

Opening at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on 20 January, the tour will then waltz around the UK to some of the biggest entertainment venues: Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena, Leeds’ First Direct Arena, the AO Arena Manchester, Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, London’s O2 Arena, the SSE Arena Belfast, before culminating at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 12 February.

The Strictly Live Tour showcases all the breathtaking choreography, stunningly sparkly costumes and fantastic live music synonymous with BBC One’s long-running and hugely loved Strictly Come Dancing TV show – which is currently on our screens, with the final due to take place on 17 December.

The 2023 tour will be directed once again by the A-MAZ-ING Strictly TV Judge Craig Revel Horwood. The show will feature many of the celebrities and professional dancers from the current series of the multi-award-winning BBC One show, together with the Strictly Live Band - a great way to celebrate the 20th series of this entertainment phenomenon.

Audiences around the UK can experience everything they love about the TV show live on stage, getting the chance to not only watch the spectacular stars in action as they perform roof-raising routines, but also the power to decide who wins the Gliderball Trophy at the end of each show. The tour judges will provide their invaluable wisdom, advice and scores at each performance, but the audience vote via text for their favourite couple, and it is ultimately their votes which decide who wins!

Each performance of the tour will host a British Sign Language interpreter, who will be displayed on two very large screens either side of the stage so that attendees can book tickets and sit almost anywhere in the arena to enjoy the experience with family and friends.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
