How to get to Club de Ópalo de Fuego in Forza Horizon 5

Image of Chris Studley

Forza Horizon 5 has quite a number of scenic locations, ranging from fantastic beaches, to high points that gaze over the map in the game. One such location is the Club de Ópalo de Fuego, home to beautiful houses, lush greenery, and a beach right by the ocean. This location is right near a number of different racing events, and will be pivotal towards completing a number of challenges that either are, or will be in Forza Horizon 5 events in the future.

So, how can you find the Club de Ópalo de Fuego in Forza Horizon 5? Let’s point you in the right direction.

To find Club de Ópalo de Fuego in Forza Horizon 5, we want to direct your attention to the western part of the map. Club de Ópalo de Fuego is located at the southwestern part of the map, right to the north of the palatial hotel that is right near the ocean. This region is right by the beach, and it shouldn’t be too hard to find, once you are in this region.

Here’s a look at Club de Ópalo de Fuego at the Forza Horizon 5 map:

Much like with many of the locations that are situated in the Forza Horizon 5 map, this region will need to be found for a Weekly Photo Challenge at some point. Additionally, this part of the map is actually important for the ‘Sunday Trip’ Accolade, as part of the Street Scene festival. To complete this Accolade, users must drive from the city of Guanajuato, to Club de Ópalo de Fuego in under three minutes.

That challenge might not sound particularly easy. But if you use a car that has great acceleration and speed, it shouldn’t be too hard at all.

You’ll need to complete these challenges quickly when they’re available as some are only around for the Holiday Special Series 2 and Happy New Year Series 3. Here are all the Forza Horizon 5 Holiday Accolades and some tips on how to complete them.

Forza Horizon 5 Holiday Accolades

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades page list

You can now find 13 special Accolades in Forza Horizon 5 themed around the winter holidays, Christmas, and the New Year under the ‘Evolving World’ Accolades category. Each one awards varying amounts of Accolade points and some grant exclusive awards that are listed below. Any Accolades that mention ‘the Holidays’ can only be completed in Series 2, which ends on January 6, 2022. Any that mention ‘the New Year’ can only be completed in Series 3, which starts on January 6, 2022.

Discover Stadium Ice Rink Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades stadium ice rink location

Rewards: 50 Accolade points

You just need to discover the new Ice Rink that’s inside the Stadium during Series 2 Holiday Special. El Estadio Horizon is towards the northeast corner of the map, but just southwest of Guanajuato. Drive inside to get close to the rink and you’ll complete this Forza Horizon 5 Holiday Accolade.

Discover Horizon Wonderland in Mulege Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades mulege wonderland map

To complete this Accolade, you need to drive to the Horizon Wonderland in the center of Mulege, which is in the southwest corner of the map. Once you’ve found the Wonderland, it’ll be marked on your map. Make sure you find it before Series 2 ends!

Guanajuato giant Christmas Tree Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades guanajuato giant christmas tree map

Christmas Trees are all over the place in Mexico during Series 2, but you need to find the giant one near the striking, yellow cathedral in Guanajuato. It’s pretty much in the middle of the city, but you can use our above map to get a better idea of where exactly it is. Get close to the Christmas Tree and you’ll complete this Holiday Accolade.

Icy Delights Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades warthog drifting ice rink

For this Accolade, you need to earn 5 Drift or E-Drift Skills at the Stadium Ice Rink within one minute. We recommend getting a good off-road car for this to maximize your ability to drive on the ice – which still won’t be great. Get some speed and then tap the brakes to start sliding. You should be able to get a few good ones done within a minute to complete the Accolade.

Ice Breaker Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades warthog air skills in ice rink

Rewards: 50 Accolade points, “To The Moon” Forza Link message

To complete this Holiday Accolade, you need to get five Air Skills at the Stadium Ice Rink in one minute. The Ice Rink has lots of ramped areas that make getting air easy. The tricky part is driving well on the ice and getting enough speed. We recommend using an off-road vehicle, such as the Warthog which we think is one of the Forza Horizon 5 best cars, and using the concrete ring around the ice rink to reposition your vehicle and build up speed before going over a ramp.

Peelieve In Yourself Accolade

For this Series 2 Holiday Accolade you need to earn 5,000 Skill Score in any Peel car in the Stadium Ice Rink within two minutes. There are two Peel cars you can unlock and use – the P50 and the Trident. The Trident is awarded for earning 45 points in Spring of Series 2, and the P50 is awarded as part of a community challenge to gift cars to other players. When you have one of these cars, drive it to the Stadium Ice Rink and try to do as many tricks as possible to build your multiplier and score. Drift, E-Drift, and Air skills are the easiest to get on the slippery ice.

Smash Candy Canes Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades smashing candy canes

The “Sweet Tooth” Accolade is one of the easiest ones to complete as you just have to destroy 25 Candy Canes during Series 2. You’re looking for large, red and white canes that break apart when you drive into them. They’re all over any built up areas of Mexico, such as Guanajuato and Mulege. You can do this in any car too, so just drive around and target the Candy Canes until you get enough for this Accolade.

Smash Christmas Trees Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades smashing christmas tree

For the “A Real Treet” Accolade, you need to smash 25 Christmas Trees during Series 2. As with the Candy Canes, Christmas Trees are found in the towns of Forza Horizon 5. Give any Christmas Trees you spot a good shunt, and you’ll eventually complete this challenge.

Mazda Of All Trades Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades mazda smashing stuff

Rewards: 250 Accolade points, Silent Night Music Box Legendary Horn

To complete this Accolade, you must destroy 25 Snowmen, Christmas Trees, and Candy Canes in any Mazda. Firstly, pick a Mazda or buy one from the Autoshow – you can see the full list of Mazda cars in our Forza Horizon 5 car list. As with the previous two challenges, you just need to drive around in your chosen Mazda and find Snowmen (which are also found all over towns), Christmas Trees, and Candy Canes. We recommend doing this Holiday Accolade before you complete the Sweet Tooth and A Real Treet Accolades as you’ll progress all three at once.

Series 2 Collector Accolade

Forza Horizon 5 2021 holiday accolades series 2 cars

Rewards: 1,000 Accolade points

This Holiday Accolade requires you to own all the exclusive reward cars from the seasons and challenges of Series 2. Some of the cars can be earned by completing challenges, seasonal races, and #Forzathon daily challenges for each season to points that work towards unlocking free rewards cars. If you’re missing any, you’ll have to resort to the Auction House and buy one from a fellow player. Here are the cars you need and how to get them:

  • 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ – Series 2 reward for earning 200 points
  • 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J – Complete the Getting Hyped Autumn Seasonal Championship
  • 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante – Spring reward for earning 25 points
  • 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO – Winter reward for earning 25 points
  • 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello – Complete the New Beginnings Spring Seasonal Championship
  • 1939 Maserati 8CTF – Summer reward for earning 45 points
  • 1962 Peel P50 – Horizon Secret Santa event milestone reward
  • 1965 Peel Trident – Spring reward for earning 45 points

Happy New Year! Accolade

For this easy Series 3 Accolade, you need to drive into Guanajuato during the Happy New Year series. That’s it. Have a look at the nice lanterns while you’re there too.

Smash Lanterns Accolade

Rewards: 50 Accolade points, Camo Utility Epic Trousers

For the “Another Lights the Dust!” Holiday Accolade, you must destroy 25 Lanterns while driving the 2014 Toyota AT38 or the 2016 Toyota AT37. Both cars are exclusive to Series 3, and since that doesn’t start until January 6, we don’t yet know exactly how they’ll be unlocked.

Series 3 Collector Accolade

To complete this Holiday Accolade, you need to own all the exclusive reward cars from the seasons and challenges of Series 3 – which is themed around the New Year. Since Series 3 is yet to start, we don’t know exactly how the cars will be obtained, so here’s a list of the cars you need to keep an eye out for. If you miss any, you’ll have to buy one through the Auction House from a fellow player. Here are the cars you need to own:

  • 2016 Zenvo TS1
  • 2015 Jaguar XKR-S
  • 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
  • 1989 Lotus Carlton
  • 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Trucks AT37
  • 2014 Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38
  • 2003 Toyota Celica SS-I
  • 2013 D8 Donkervoort GTO

Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges Guide Series 24 – Autumn

sunday trip fh5

The second season of Series 24 has rolled around in Forza Horizon 5 , and it is the turn of Autumn to march into the spotlight. Have you managed to fill your garage again after the increase in size that recently came about? I have a feeling I’m not far off after a spending spree buying all the new Italian cars that have recently been introduced to Forza Horizon 5.

But it’s not the cars we are here for today, it’s the latest challenges. With Series 24 Autumn, there are a host of new Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges and events. Up for the new cars and tunes that will help you complete those events with ease?

Let’s get cracking…

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Lancia-Lot

The subject of this week’s challenge is a true classic from the rally scene, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO. Best suited to the old Martini livery, these cars used to terrify the rally stages, especially in Group B fire-breathing trim.

Luckily, the road going version was a bit tamer, albeit with a distressing tendency to dissolve if it rained…

If you don’t have one in your garage, it will cost you a mere 100,000 credits from the Autoshow.

Chapter 1 – High Fidelity

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!

Chapter 2 – Purpose-Built

Now we need to simply win a dirt race, which should be easy enough given that this is a rally car!

Pick your favourite and do your best.

Chapter 3 – Super Turbo

Given the fact this car has a turbo, we need to use it to reach 140mph.

Hit the highway and let it rip. Hoewever, in stock trim it can’t do it, so look for share name “Lancia” with my GT, Red620Ti. I’ll sort you out with some pace.

Chapter 4 – Evoluzione

We now need to earn three stars at Danger Signs. Fairly easy, right? It is, go and hit whatever sign you like.

And with that, the weekly car challenge is complete, and we are five points nearer to the new cars on offer in Series 24 this time around.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

Now that we are embracing la dolce vita, it seems a shame to break off and do some racing, but needs must and all that!

Let’s jump straight in and see what tunes I can offer to help with The Trial, EventLabs, Championships and more.

The Trial – Grand Touring

The Trial this week restricts us to Italian Super GT cars, and of the not massive choice of vehicles, I chose a Ferrari 812 Superfast. With a tuning limit of S1 Class 900, it should at least be quick enough to keep our attention. The share code for my car is: 261040765.

The people I found last week were actually very friendly and didn’t spend the whole race crashing into each other, so small victories and all that! Hopefully you will be equally lucky…

Should we manage to win two out of three races, a lovely Lancia Stratos will be yours as a reward. Nice and new!

Forza Horizon 5 Series 24 Autumn Superfast

Eventlab 1 – THEFILTHYHONEY Presents Stadium C

For this Eventlab, we need to use an Italian Track Toy car, and the tuning limit is S1 Class 900.

I went with a stock Lamborghini Huracan STO. Despite sounding like something that would require a trip to the GP, it is nice and quick.

The track layout is very good, with a mix of high and low speed corners to keep you on your toes. There is clearly a lot of work gone into this track, so credit where credits due. All in all, the course has a nice flow to it.

The prize for completing this race is a Ferrari F40.

Eventlab 2 – SKTARKZ23  Presents Pidore Festival of Speed – V8SC 1

For this Eventlab, we need to use an Italian Retro supercar tuned to only A Class 800, and so I went with the classic Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV. Share code is: 797737461.

The course works well again, and I’m impressed with the Eventlabs this Series.

A Super Wheelspin will be yours for completing the course. How lucky!

PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – Bulevar

This week the tuning limit for these events is A Class 800, and the class of car is Italian Retro Supercars. For all the events!

For this one, we need to zoom past the camera at over 170 mph, and so the weapon of choice is a Ferrari 575M Maranello. Share is unavailable, but the share is 575 in conjunction with my GT, Red620Ti.

A Super Wheelspin? It’ll do.

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Northern Passage

Speed requires a quick car, obviously, and with the target for this being 160 mph, I stayed in the same Ferrari from above.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

PR Stunt 3 -Speed Zone – Ringroad

Same class of car, but a different challenge this time – let us drive to an average speed!

90 mph to be precise, and while this sounds slow, we need a car that can cope, and so it is the 575 once again.

The course is quite bendy, but approaching from the left seems a tad easier.

Yet another Super Wheelspin to add to the pile.

Seasonal Championship 1 – Shopping Trip

In this championship, the challenge is to take an Italian SUV and win some races. And only tuned to A Class 800.

With a not massive choice of cars to choose from, I went with a Lamborghini Urus, which makes a rude noise.

The share code for mine is unknown, but look for “Urus” and “Red620Ti” together. That’s the one you want to download.

For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Lamborghini LM002.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Prancing Horses

Ferraris are required for this one, and the tuning limit is S1 Class 900. That calls for an old favourite, the Ferrari 812 Superfast. The share code for mine is : 261040765.

It’s called Superfast, should be quick enough right?

We can walk away with another prize for winning, a Ferrari 812, ironically enough!

Seasonal Championship 3 – Contemporary Italian

A third championship this week? You’re spoiling us!

This one requires a Modern Supercar from Italy to take part, and tuned to S1 Class 900. I went with a Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 from 2014. The share code is : 101467248.

Coming out on top will net us a new prize, a Fist Pump emote.

Part 3: Other Challenges

There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week. There’s the Photo Challenge and the Collectible challenge this week, so slim pickings.

Still, better than a poke in the eye, right?

Photo Challenge – #MASERATIFESTIVAL

We need a Maserati, believe it or not, and we need to take it to the Apex Festival site and snap a photo.

I’ll post the location and my artistic effort below. Can you do better? Although if your effort doesn’t include a dinosaur costume, I won’t even consider it!

One day we should run a photo contest, I reckon. What say you Mr Editor sir?

The reward? A new car horn, Fred V & Grafix. No idea!

Forza Horizon 5 Series 24 Autumn Photo

Collectible Challenge – All Aboard

This week, someone has left a boat load of pinatas around Palacio Azul Del Oceano, and we have to smash ten of them. I’ll post a picture of the collectible and the location below.

Getting smash happy will get us another car horn, the Sea of Thieves Theme. Piratey!

Forza Horizon 5 Series 24 Autumn Collection Location

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Forest Edge

S2 Class again, but this time we need to use an Extreme Track Toy to jump over 400 m, which is a big ask. I used a Bugatti Divo, share code: 169915677 to do it, and pinned the throttle and hoped!

Hitting the ramp at over 200 mph was enough to win.

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship -Surf’s Up

Just an S1 Class 900 car is required this week, and as I do like a Mustang, I went with the Shelby GT500  from 2020. Share code is : 335181307.

Winning all the races, or two out of three in a convoy, will get us a new car horn – the Hot Wheels Monster Truck one to be exact.

Forza Horizon 5 Series 24 Autumn Shelby

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Canyon Rush

We need to use yet another Italian car here, but this time tuned to A Class 800. The target is above 150 mph, so I went with the same Maserati GT-S I used last week, and this time the share code is : 312990331.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin.

Seasonal Championship – Raptoriffic

For this series of races, we’re looking at an Italian car, tuned to a maximum of S1 Class 900. The choice is large, but in the interests of being as cheap as possible, let’s use the same Ferrari 812 Superfast from above. The share code for mine is : 261040765, in case you have forgotten! I’ll keep throwing these share codes out in hope of new downloads!

For winning out, we can take away a new bit of clothing – a Epitaph White Logo Relaxed Fit Tee. Still not as good as a dinosaur suit.

With Series 24 moving along nicely, the cars for the month are quite nice. For 80 points, we can have a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, while 160 points will see us walk away with a Ferrari 512 Testa Rossa

The new monthly Rivals challenges are here too. Grab some clean laps around the Horizon Mexico circuit, or complete a clean run of the Volcan Sprint route to earn 4 points apiece. Every little helps but you’ve got the full Series to get these completed. Unless you did them last week?

Grab enough points and Series 24 Autumn will also see you gifted with the exclusive Abarth 695 from 2016 for 20 points, and for 40 points we can get an Alfa Romeo 4C, a rare car.

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

So what do you think of our tunes and cars? Have they helped you out a little? Do you have something better?

Let us know in the comments. And like I made a mental note to type, Winter is coming! And then Spring, and then a new Series… I need a holiday!

Full rundown: Forza Horizon 5’s September Festival Playlist, Horizon Road Trip

The newest Festival Playlist and new content for Forza Horizon 5 was announced on Monday (12th September 2022). The 12th series to hit the title will be dubbed Horizon Road Trip and will celebrate the various disciplines to race around Mexico included in the game.

Each week will focus on a different type of racing, from the general road racing found at the Horizon Apex in Summer, cross country racing at Horizon Baja in Autumn, street racing at Horizon Street Scene in Winter and getting dirty at Horizon Wilds in the Spring. New body kits, cars, challenges and races are in store for the next four weeks on the Forza Horizon 5 calendar.

In the Playlists, some Championship events are longer, there will be a focus on more endurance races, and the PR Stunts will less restricted with more options to complete the tasks with. The new playlist is set to drop later this week, on the 15th of September.

THREE BRAND NEW CAR REWARDS TO FORZA HORIZON 5

The new cars mentioned above will all be unlockable as rewards during this 12th season of festivities.

2021 AUDI RS E-TRON

Headlining the trio is the 2021 Audi RS e-tron, an all-electric luxury and performance vehicle with over 600bhp and a pair of electric motors, one for the front tires and a more powerful one for the rear.

2021 AUDI RS 7

Another Audi, but this one with a combustible engine. The luxury RS 7 has just under 600bhp but sounds like a car I’d love to drive, all deep and throaty from what we could hear of it during the Forza Monthly livestream.

2021 LYNK & CO 03+

Made by a Chinese and Swedish combination of a company, the 03+ model might drive a little heavier than the Audis listed above, but still has 265bhp and a really modernistic design that looks pretty neat.

TWO CARS RETURNING FROM PREVIOUS FORZA TITLES

Both the 1991 Bentley Turbo R and the 2018 Nissan Sentra NISMO return to the franchise this week as well.

These two cars will also be rewards in the Season 12 weekly festivals.

FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SERIES REWARD

The aforementioned Audi RS e-tron is one of the two ‘epic’ rewards for the full Horizon Road Trip festival. For only 80 PTS, this exclusive electric beast can be yours. Double that point total to 160 PTS and you’ll be able to drive in a ‘hard to find’ McLaren 765 LT.

There are two monthly events that can be completed at any time to add 4 PTS each to your total for each week. Monthly Rivals will take players to the Bola Ocho Circuit where a clean lap is needed to succeed. Forza EV takes place at Emerald Circuit where, again, a clean lap will be needed.

FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SUMMER

The first season, as always, is the Wet Season, aka Summer. Two ‘rare’ rewards are up for grabs in the form of the ‘exclusive’ Bentley Turbo R at 20 PTS and the ‘hard to find’ MG MG3 at 40 PTS.

In the first #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge of the festival, you’ll need a 2013 KTM X-Bow R to compete. The focus of the week is road racing, and the easiest point you’ll ever get in each week is to visit the Outposts for the theme of the week. Horizon Apex is first up.

If you’re in the Hall of Fame, conquering The Trial, titled ‘On The Road Again” will yield an Aston Martin DB11 as a reward.

During the stream, we were only able to see the Summer rewards before the UI was switched from rewards to Car Restrictions, signifying that such restrictions have been relaxed.

While you might be able to guess at what some rewards might be, some pictured cars might just be there in place of something like a Super Wheelspin or Forza Link reward. We’ll know for sure when the week arrives, so stay tuned for our weekly guides to see what rewards are on the table besides points.

A Treasure Hunt, Fast Track, is available in the Summer series. The #APEXSUPERSTARS Photo Challenge will need you to get into a 2013 Caterham Superlight R500 for some posing at the Apex Outpost.

If you compete in a Horizon Open racing event, you’ll get a fun Forza Link reward in the “You’re Winner” caption. For Hot Wheels expansion owners, there are seven more points available, plus a Super Wheelspin and a ‘common’ 1997 BMW M3.

FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, AUTUMN

Autumn’s Storm Season is representative of the Horizon Baja festival, so cross country racing will be the forefront. Once again, the season provides a pair of ‘rare’ cars for earning enough points. Another new reward car in the 2021 Audi RS 7 can be earned with 20 PTS and the Toyota 4Runner is yours at 40 PTS.

A 1970 Volkswagen #1107 Desert Dingo Racing Stock Bug (that’s a bit of a mouthful) is needed to complete Autumn’s #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge, and as previously mentioned, just visiting the Baja outpost gets an easy points in the first Daily Challenge of the week.

The Trial for Hall of Famers is Cross Country Sports and an Alumni Craft C. 10 is the reward for completion.

Make sure you check in on 22nd September for Oasley’s guide to the Autumn seasonal playlist to see what rewards are available to earn in the seasonal events.

Autumn also has a Treasure Hunt called ‘Dune Buggy’. The picture makes it look like you’ll need that same Volkswagen Buggy from the Weekly Challenge.

The #INTOTHEBAJA Photo Challenge is set at the Baja outpost stage and you’ll need a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT to be the focus of the photo. A “MWAHAHAHA” Forza Link Reward is gotten for finishing 30th or better in The Eliminator in the Autumn.

Finally, seven more points and probably two rewards are available to Hot Wheels players.

FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, WINTER

Moving on to the Dry Season, it’s Winter and once again, there’s a neat new car available to own that was discussed earlier on in this article. The ‘rare’ and ‘exclusive’ Link & Co 03+ is earned at 20 PTS. An ‘epic’ and ‘hard to find’ Donkervoort GTO is yours at 40 PTS.

This is the Street Scene season, so the playlists will take place around the street racing theme. The #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge involves a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and the easy first Daily Challenge to take care of is a visit to the Street Scene festival outpost.

A Mosler MT900S is earned by Hall of Fame players if they’re able to win the Street Safari Trial.

Everything else in the Seasonal, make sure you come back here on the 29th of September for the weekly guide to inform you about.

Three weeks, three Treasure Hunts with the Super Street event. A #STREETSCENE Photo Challenge requires a 2008 Renault Mégane R26.R and the Street Scene outpost in the background.

Also… “It’s Morbin’ Time” if you perform five Ultimate Drift Skills in Horizon Open Drifting. Yeah. Memes.

Hot Wheels Expansion players, guess what? You can get seven more points again in the Winter.

FORZA HORIZON 5, HORIZON ROAD TRIP, SPRING

The fourth and final season, the HOT Spring, has one last ‘rare’ and ‘exclusive’ car to earn at 20 PTS – The 2018 Nissan Sentra NISMO. At 40 PTS, an ‘epic’ and ‘hard to find’ Ferrari 512TR is earned.

Wilds are wild in the Spring, and the Horizon Wilds outpost is the place to be for many parts of the season, including the first Daily Challenge as usual. The #FORZATHON Weekly Challenge needs players to own and drive a 1990 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R.

The #65 911 Desert is the reward for The Trial, again only for those in the Forza Horizon 5 Hall of Fame.

The rest of the rewards for the season, check back 6th October to see what’s good in Oasley’s weekly guide for the Spring.

Treasure Hunts go four-for-four with the Rally On The Wild Side event which will be rally related. The #RUNNINGWILD Photo Challenge will need a 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR and the Horizon Wilds outpost in the background.

“This Isn’t Even My Final Form!” is the quip for the Forza Link reward available for another round of top half finishing in The Eliminator.

GAME FIXES COMING

The 12th Seasonal Festival will also see some needed game fixes included in the update.

  • An issue that prevented progression of the Weekly Forzathon if challenges were not completed in order has been fixed.
  • A fix to allow Steam players to unlock the “One for All” and “Back in the Saddle” achievements.
  • Low framerates for PC players using AMD Radeon 6×00 series graphics cards with AMD SAM enabled.
  • A fix for the “Not Connected” message incorrectly popping up in EventLab when creating a route or selecting a track to play.
  • Audio would cut out when applying upgrades or tuning setups to your car. This has been fixed.

PARIS (AP) — Chinese President Xi Jinping kicked off a three-country trip to Europe on Sunday with the continent divided over how to deal with Beijing’s growing power and the U.S.-China rivalry.

European carmakers are losing ground to subsidized Chinese electric vehicles . Diplomats fret about alleged Chinese spies in European capitals. And China’s continued defense trade with Russia worries anyone in Europe who supports war-ravaged Ukraine and fears that the Russian army won’t stop there.

But Europe and China have hefty economic ties — EU-China trade is estimated at 2.3 billion euros per day — and Xi appears determined to rebuild and deepen relations with European leaders after a prolonged absence prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Xi started Sunday in France, whose president wants Europe to have more economic and strategic independence from other world powers. Then the Chinese president heads to Serbia and Hungary, both seen as China-friendly and close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and recipients of substantial Chinese investment.

Xi’s trip will be closely watched in Washington for signs of diminishing European support for its key foreign policy goals. At the same time, there’s increasing uncertainty in Europe about future U.S. support for trans-Atlantic allies.

Xi was greeted at Paris’ Orly Airport by French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal — and by protests by groups demanding that France pressure China to respect Tibetan and Uyghur minority rights. Activists seeking a free Tibet attempted to unfurl a banner Saturday beneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and protested in the French capital around the same time as Xi’s plane landed.

After arriving, Xi said he hoped the visit would bring ‘’strategic convergence’’ between China and France, and that further developing their relations would contribute to ‘’stability and positive energy in an turbulent world,’' according to a text provided to reporters at the airport.

On Monday French President Emmanuel Macron will treat the Chinese leader to formal honors of a full state visit. They will also meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is expected to join Macron in pushing for fairer trade policies and for China to use its leverage with Russia to push it toward ending the war in Ukraine.

The EU launched an investigation last fall into Chinese subsidies and could impose tariffs on electric vehicles exported from China.

China claims neutrality in the Ukraine conflict but has refused to call the full-blown Russian assault on its neighbor an invasion, and has been accused of bolstering Russia’s capacity to produce weapons.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series schedule: What we’re hearing about Mexico City, L.A. and more

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 03: Daniel Suarez, driver of the #99 Worldwide Express Chevrolet, drives during the NASCAR Cup Series Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on February 03, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

Not too long ago, you could cut and paste NASCAR’s Cup Series schedule from year to year. Changes were minimal if not outright nonexistent. Present-day NASCAR is far different in how it lays out its schedule, an approach that has led to an explosion of new races at exciting new venues over the past few years.

Now, in addition to benchmark races like the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600 and Southern 500, NASCAR seeks out new events to add to the Cup schedule and isn’t hesitant to shift dates around.

One of the byproducts of this approach is the heightened anticipation of what the schedule will look like for the following year. What new track(s) will be added? Will any track fall off or lose a date? What will the 10-race playoffs look like?

Nothing is yet certain for the 2025 Cup schedule, but NASCAR sources indicate that they hope to announce it this month. Here is a look at some of the likely changes, based on conversations with multiple sources across the NASCAR industry.

NASCAR’s desire to hold a points race outside the United States, something it hasn’t done since 1958, is well documented. This goal was nearly accomplished a year ago, only for negotiations with Montreal to fall apart .

The likeliest candidate this time is Mexico City, where the Xfinity Series raced for four years (2005-2008) and where Formula One has competed since 2015.

Nothing is yet finalized between NASCAR and Mexico City promoters, but confidence is high within the industry that it will eventually reach the finish line.   One industry source characterized the deal as “close,” expecting it will happen.

Should Mexico City land a race, it will be a definite win for NASCAR even if it means the addition of a road course to a schedule already filled with them. The move would not be met with enthusiasm by everyone within the garage, due to logistical and safety concerns, but the overall sense this would be a positive thing for the sport’s growth. Mexican fans demonstrated quite a passion for NASCAR-style racing when Xfinity competed there, a passion that has only since grown with Mexico’s own Daniel Suárez winning the 2016 Xfinity championship and since becoming a winner at the Cup level.

sunday trip fh5

What would Mexico City replace

If NASCAR does race in Mexico City next year, that means an opening must be created in the schedule. How will NASCAR do that?

By dropping the spring Richmond race, according to industry sources. In recent years, the on-track action at Richmond too frequently lacks excitement, and the attendance isn’t at a level that justifies the track continuing to have two dates .

As unfortunate as it would be to have one fewer short track on the schedule, there is little support among NASCAR leadership or its teams to race at Richmond twice annually. The consensus is that this move is overdue.

There is little known about where NASCAR will shift the exhibition race that commences each season after a three-year run at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

What we do expect is that the Clash will not return to the Coliseum for a fourth edition. The event was a success, demonstrating that NASCAR could effectively build a track inside a stadium and hold a worthwhile race on it. But the novelty is gone, the three-year contract has expired, and going back would bring diminishing returns for something that costs millions of dollars to pull off.

Could the Clash return to Daytona, as some drivers have openly wished? It would serve as a one-year stopgap until NASCAR locks down a different locale for 2026. But how would going back to Daytona be received publicly after everything went so well in L.A.? NASCAR should be able to parlay this into a similar spectacle elsewhere. Daytona wouldn’t necessarily check this box.

In recent weeks, another venue has emerged as a viable candidate, industry sources say: Bowman Gray Stadium. NASCAR’s ties to the historic quarter-mile track in Winston-Salem, N.C., date back to the 1940s, a relationship that’s only strengthened with the announcement in March that NASCAR acquired the lease to manage racing operations for the facility , effective immediately.

Holding the Clash at Bowman Gray would certainly fulfill the criteria of bringing the preseason exhibition event to a different and unique venue that wouldn’t otherwise be considered for a Cup points race. A race on the tight confines here would likely create the kind of made-for-TV-drama that NASCAR and Fox Sports, which will televise the race, are seeking to kick off the season. Think of this as the NASCAR equivalent of Major League Baseball playing a game in an Iowa cornfield.

sunday trip fh5

Southern California

With California Speedway in Fontana in construction limbo and the Clash at the Coliseum over with, NASCAR has been steadfast that it wants to maintain a presence in Southern California. NASCAR has explored various ways to race near the country’s second-largest city, including holding one at Dodger Stadium in conjunction with Formula E or finding a partnership with the Long Beach Grand Prix.

For a number of reasons, neither Dodger Stadium nor the Long Beach Grand Prix are presently viable, according to industry sources. Again, nothing is finalized, but it’s looking increasingly likely that NASCAR won’t be racing in Southern California next year.

After talks between NASCAR and Montreal broke down last year, there was a sense it would be some time before NASCAR revisited the possibility of racing on the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. With Mexico City possibly joining in 2025, waiting a year to pursue Montreal would make sense, giving NASCAR a big addition to its 2026 calendar.

But recently, talks between NASCAR and Montreal have resumed, though to what degree varies depending on whom you talk to. One industry source estimated that it was 50-50 at best Montreal would secure a 2025 date. Another source said a lot needed to change for the odds to improve.

For now, Montreal seems unlikely for 2025, but it can’t be ruled out.

Championship race

In what won’t likely be a well-received decision, Phoenix Raceway is expected to host NASCAR’s 2025 championship weekend for its three national series, according to industry sources. There have been discussions about shifting the championship elsewhere, something for which many drivers have publicly lobbied, but the robust support in the Phoenix area was too much for NASCAR to ignore.

Ever since Phoenix first hosted championship weekend in 2020, the community has embraced the opportunity, and NASCAR recently completed a $178 million renovation project at Phoenix Raceway with the intent of turning Phoenix into a facility worthy of hosting its championship.

NASCAR didn’t receive such support in Miami, where the championship often felt overlooked, even if the quality of racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway is usually deemed considerably better. Several within NASCAR believe that, at some point, NASCAR will return its championship weekend to the 1.5.-mile South Florida oval that most drivers and many fans consider one of the best tracks in the sport. When, though, is unknown.

The City of Homestead is doing its part in working to secure the 2026 championship weekend. During a Homestead Council Meeting on April 17, city officials agreed to a resolution to begin preparing a bid to bring championship weekend back to HMS. That Homestead is targeting 2026 further indicates Phoenix will remain as host for 2025.

Homestead-Miami Speedway

Circuit of the Americas

Circuit of the Americas chairman Bobby Epstein anticipates NASCAR will return to the Austin, Texas, road course in 2025 for what would be a fifth consecutive year.

Speedway Motorsports leases COTA, initially signing a three-year contract that began with the 2021 season and then later signing an extension that carried through the 2024 season. And though no contract has been signed to ensure NASCAR’s return, the expectation is that a deal will eventually be reached, Epstein told The Athletic in an email last month.

“They’ll be back,” Epstein said. “For sure they want to come back in 2025, and we are working on finalizing a date.”

The addition of COTA to the schedule in 2021 was part of an initiative by NASCAR to bring greater variety to the Cup schedule while also bringing NASCAR into either untapped or underserved markets.

Unlike with some other tracks NASCAR added in recent years, the enthusiasm surrounding COTA has remained strong. Over the past weekend, many drivers publicly voiced their support for the relationship to continue.

“It’s one of those road courses that has a little bit of every driving technique you’d need on a road course: the heavy braking, finesse, hustle areas,” Chase Briscoe said. “It’s cool to share a track with F1. There are a lot of cool road courses, but this is one we need to keep on the schedule.”

With no behind-the-scenes disapproval within NASCAR, according to industry sources, a return to COTA appears likely.

Regular-season finale

Not surprisingly, the 2025 regular season is all but certain to again conclude at Daytona after taking a one-year hiatus, according to industry sources.

Daytona isn’t hosting the finale this year only due to a scheduling quirk with NBC Sports, which is broadcasting the 2024 Summer Olympics and asked NASCAR to go quiet for a two-week period. With no Olympics next year, Daytona is expected to go back to being race 26.

Easter Sunday

After a three-year experiment racing on Easter, when it had historically taken that weekend off, NASCAR is not expected to race on Easter Sunday in 2025, industry sources say. This decision will likely be met with widespread praise within the garage.

All-Star Race

As it has since 2023, North Wilkesboro Speedway is expected to again host the All-Star Race next year, according to industry sources. Speedway Motorsports has invested a lot of money and energy into resurrecting the once decrepit track — it’s not moving.
