This app has everything you will ever need for your trip!

When one doesn’t understand what it takes to develop an app, you get reviews like the ones who complain about its costs and features for premium version. I did not hesitate one second getting the premium version of this app, it has all-in-one what other apps offer separately or lack functionality. You get trip planning suggestions, tour suggestions and their cost, navigation help and instructions, all the information you need to plan your trip and a lot more! Honestly, this app is a gem and the developers really outdid the features and actually carefully selected what one user NEEDS and can get lots of advantage for. I cannot stress enough how awesome of an app this is. I just downloaded and needed to share my thoughts because I barely buy apps and let alone leave reviews but this one deserves every good review it gets. I applaud for the effort and thoughtfulness of making this app the most convenient one for trip planning I have seen in the app store. Thank you and I really hope you continue making it as awesome as it is and seamless to navigate. Two suggestions as an iPad user would be a calendar view to visualize trips in a calendar format (or calendar integration, which I am still exploring in the app) and an apple pencil/ draw format for note taking as it is easier for me to use but those two suggestions are just that, the app is awesome as is and has a lot of room for growth.

Just what I’ve been looking for!

I used to plan to my trips using trip advisor, however they took away the ability to schedule items within each day of the trip. I tried using Google Trips, Tripline, and any other app that was recommended for trip planning. Sygic is the only one I have tried which had all the options I needed. Some of the features I appreciate include: being able to select multiple types of transportation for each day. If I am trying to plan a route on google maps for a day it won’t let me switch between using a car and using public transportation. Sygic let’s me decide for each destination whether I want to drive, take public, transportation, etc. The app also estimates based on the activities and routes how long of a day it will be. I used to manually estimate how long I would spend at each place I wanted to visit based on googles average for how long people spend there. Sygic automatically has an estimate for each travel site already. Also those times can be adjusted if needed. The premium feature of printing trips to PDF is also great. The PDF looks great and includes the travel guides for the cities you are visiting. Overall the app has everything I want from a trip planning app and I looking forward to continuing to use it for many more trips to come!

Works without cell signal!

In 2016 we were traveling through California’s vast Anza Borrego dessert and lost cell signals. Scary! We found our way out and I looked for an app that would serve as an offline GPS, rather than adding a cumbersome Garmin device. After installing Sygic I literally could navigate anywhere without the need for a cell signal (other than initially downloading maps). That was the start of my appreciation of the extraordinary value and features of Sygic! It continues to get better with more features since 2016. We travel about half the year throughout the country in our Class B RV (Ford Transit camper van). Apple Car Play supports both Apple and Google maps, but Sygic through Car Play is our go-to navigation. We depend on it and the features other navigation does not offer that are too extensive to list here.

Free/premium app that will help you to create a day-by-day itinerary for your trip., planning a trip on the website.

Welcome to Sygic Maps web planner . The website allows you to discover cool places around the world and create awesome travel itineraries.

Creating a trip

From the map, you can search for your destination, place or an address.

To create a trip:

1) Click on the Date in the upper left corner and choose "Create trip" in the left sidebar.

2) Click on Guide above the map, switch to Trip Templates tab and pick a trip template.

In the next step, set the dates of your trip. These can be changed later in the settings of your trip . Finally, you can save your trip by either signing in or creating an account. You don't have to do it, but you will not be able to save your trip without an account.

Working with the map

You can see all the places you might want to visit on the map. To see a list of attractions, click on Guide above the map.

If you’re looking for a particular place, you can use the search field to find it. You can search for destinations, attractions, hotels or addresses.

You can also filter places by their categories - just click into the search bar and you will see them below. If you wish, you can filter the places further by tags after you select a category. Here, you can also set up your Home or Work address.

To add a place straight from the map, click on it to read more about it, then click the "Add to trip" button to add it to your trip plan. This will open the calendar where you will assign a day to that place. If you haven't created a trip yet, you will be asked to create one.

If you want to save a place for later, click the "Favorite" button instead to add it to your Favorites.

If you want to add more destinations to your trip plan, use the search field. Type in the name of your next destination and hit Enter. The map will be moved to your next destination and you can start adding places from it to your trip plan.

Custom places

To create a custom place, just click anywhere on the map or insert its address into the search field. You can also add a custom place by inputting its GPS coordinates into the search field above the map. Use the decimal format of coordinates: e.g. 49.232883, 16.572891.

In the left sidebar, click on "Create my place". Add the custom place to your trip plan by clicking "Add to trip" button. You can edit it and add more information later. Use the gear button next to the name of the custom place and choose "Edit custom place" to do this.

You can switch between days in your itinerary in the menu above the map. You can open each day to see its detail and also see the route between those places.

When you add a place, Sygic Travel automatically sets walking or driving as a mode of transport. You can change this by clicking the gear button. You can also set time, duration and add a note to it.

Sygic Travel recalculates the travel estimate for the day but it does not include transits with unknown duration.

Save & export

Save your trip by creating an account, or by logging in if you already have one. You will be able to access your trip later and each change you make to your trip will be automatically synced across all your devices.

After you're done with adding activities via our website, you can download a PDF guide of your trip. Click on the gear button next to the name of your trip and click "Print or download". You can also export your itinerary to a KML or GPX file.

If you have a smartphone, don’t forget to download the Sygic Travel mobile app before you go. Once you sign in, it will automatically sync your trip. Sygic Travel Premium unlocks the full potential of Sygic Travel. It allows you to access your trips in the mobile app and edit them even on the road. In addition, you can download maps for offline use and you will be able to use step-by-step navigation even offline.

Sygic Travel Review: The App I Use To Plan All My Trips

Formerly known as Tripomatic, Sygic Travel is the travel planning app that I never leave home without. Back in the day (okay, maybe just a few years ago), I used Tripomatic to organize my trips. The app has come a long way since then.

Sygic Travel is a powerful tool. It allows travelers to now plan and book trips. You can also navigate and discover new places worldwide. Ever wonder how I see so many sights on short trips? Here’s a hint. It’s not by chance.  Sygic Travel is the brains behind all of my trips.

Create A Trip

Sygic Travel is a travel planning game changer. It’s available on Android and iOS devices.

In many ways, it has changed the way I travel.

It empowers me to make more informed decisions in less time. Through the app, I discover new things to do without having to do a ton of research.

I no longer have to cross-reference multiple websites for info. All the important information I need is available in the app. This includes admission prices, opening hours, and address. Links to the official website and Wiki articles are also available. This reduces the time it takes to plan trips!

With Sygic Travel, creating an itinerary is easy. I appreciate that the app is user-friendly.

Login and choose a destination.

Next, input your trip details. This includes trip dates, accommodation, and airports. No worries if you haven’t finalized your plans yet. You can always edit these later.

Discover New Places

After you create a trip, check out the map for places to visit. There are over 20 million places to discover.

Notice the size of the bubbles. Large bubbles are the most popular attractions. Find more details about a  place on the sidebar.

Looking for something more specific? Filter by category. Explore categories like sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, museums and more.

Drill down further by filtering and selecting tags. For example, filter sightseeing by historical sites, shrines, and memorials.

After you have a few places that you want to check out, start building your day-to-day itinerary. Add places to specific days.

Personally, I like to create itineraries on my desktop. I use the app on the go.

Here’s a quick story for you.

A few months ago, mom and I were in Milan on our first mother-daughter trip. After climbing to the top of Duomo di Milano, I looked at the app to see what’s next on our list of things to do.

You guessed it – I had no service. And I couldn’t see my itinerary!

All that trip planning I did a few weeks ago went to waste.

Left high and dry, we had no idea what to do next. We wandered around the city till we stumbled on the Castello Sforzesco.

Good Feature of Offline Maps. Does this app work in all the countries?

Traveling to Tokyo, I was disappointyed to find that the app does not support public transport…

Hopefully with new updates, public transportation will be an added feature.

Offline maps have become my crutch when traveling so you don’t even have to tell me twice. But then what did we all do before phones?

Sounds like the app is a lot better than regular map apps. I especially love the idea of the bubble size options that makes it easier to know what’s more of an attraction than others. Will try.

Just and update. I used the free version in Spain and Italy in May and found it quite useful, especially the save offline functionality for areas that don’t have free wifi.

I think I used tripomatic in the past. I tend to do this from scratch in google maps, love having all the sights available to add, would save SO MUCH TIME!

How do you find attraction in Google Maps. I’ve never used google maps before for itinerary planning.

What a great app! I love that it stores information even when you can’t get service. We have only ever used Travello and it’s an app for connecting with travelers vs making an itenaraey. I’m going to look into Sygic!

More than once I’ve been stranded without GPS or notes while traveling. It makes me want to carry maps again! I was glad to hear that you and your mom still had a great trip.

This sounds similar to GPSmyCity, which I have used in several cities successfully. It allows you to download specific routes free or pay for a GPS-embedded version so it can navigate you without having to use data. I love the colorful bubbles in different sizes on Sygic, however. That’s a nice feature. But the price seems awfully high if it’s just for one location.

The premium account is actually for unlimited use not only for one itinerary. I actually think the one time investment is worth it especially for offline access and walking navigation since service abroad can be so unpredictable.

This is really cool. I think it would be insanely helpful for a place with a quick layover. Saves a lot of time for research!

Looks like a really cool app and definitely useful to be able to see everything instead of having to search for different search engines. I really like the idea of the its convenience. However upgrading to the premium might be the best in order to have all access whether online or offline.

Having a trip planning resource like this makes sense for many travel consumers. Having offline maps is a great thing.

Aegis General Insurance Agency provides several types of insurance such as homeowners, life, and pest insurance. Aegis added travel insurance to its list of offerings, when it acquired April Travel Protection in early 2021, operating as GoReady.

Now Aegis General, the Pennsylvania-based company offers five single-trip insurance plans and two multi-trip plans that have a wide range customization options including CFAR and sports coverage. The plans also offer a diverse range of coverage from its more comprehensive VIP and Pandemic Plus options to its Trip Cancellation, which offers low-cost coverage for cancellations and trip interruption. That said, Aegis has a relatively complicated claims process that has received mixed reviews from customers. You're required to get in contact with a claims agent to start the process, which can be difficult.

Coverage Options with Aegis

Aegis travel insurance offers a variety of plans from which to choose. Picking the right one will depend on your trip and whether you want single-trip coverage or something like an annual plan. The answer to the question of what does travel insurance cover varies.

If you're looking for a single-trip plan, you'll have a few different choices:

Aegis Annual Multi-Trip Plans Available

Annual/Multi-Trip Preferred plan – This annual travel insurance plan is ideal for those who take multiple trips per year that are less than 31 days. It provides comprehensive coverage for an unlimited number of trips, including important types of protection like travel delay ($750), trip inconvenience ($200), baggage coverage ($1,000), and baggage delay ($200). In addition, the plan includes $100,000 per person for medical emergency assistance and transportation. The Preferred plan is not available for New York residents.

Annual/Multi-Trip Primary plan – This policy is ideal for you if you're a frequent flyer who goes on three or more trips each year or travels for up to 90 days at a time. It includes baggage coverage ($1,000), baggage delay ($100 per person, $300 policy limit), and $30,000 in initial coverage for emergency accident and sickness medical expenditures.

Aegis Additional Coverage Options

Some Aegis travel insurance plans offer the option to upgrade for improved coverage. For instance, Aegis's Choice plan includes $250,000 in emergency medical assistance and transportation — but with an upgrade, you can buy up to double that amount ($500,000).

There are add-ons, too, like CFAR (cancel for any reason) coverage , which reimburses you 75% of your prepaid trip expenses, or "cancel for work reasons." which covers 100%. CFAR coverage is only available for the Choice, Pandemic Plus, and Cruise plans.

Depending on the play you choose, other upgrades include coverage for rental car damage, missed port of call, sporting equipment coverage, and more.

Aegis Travel Insurance Cost

The premium you pay will depend on various factors, including the age of the travelers, destination, and total trip costs. The  average cost of travel insurance  is 4% to 8% of your travel costs.

After inputting some personal information, such as your age and state of residence, along with your trip details, like travel dates, destination, and trip costs, you'll get an instant quote for the plans available for your trip. And from there, it's easy to compare each option based on your coverage needs and budget.

Now let's look at a few examples to estimate Aegis's coverage costs.

As of 2024, a 23-year-old from Illinois taking a week-long, $3,000 budget trip to Italy would have the following Aegis travel insurance quotes:

• Trip Cancellation: $43
• Choice: $53
• Pandemic Plus: $105
• Cruise: $112

Premiums for Aegis plans are between 2.7% and 4.2% of the trip's cost, well below the average cost of travel insurance. It's also relatively cheap compared to many of its competitors

Aegis provides the following quotes for a 30-year-old traveler from California heading to Japan for two weeks on a $4,000 trip:

• Trip Cancellation: $59
• Choice: $70
• Pandemic Plus: $140
• Cruise: $142

Once again, premiums for Aegis plans are between 3.6% and 3.8%, below the average cost for travel insurance.

A 65-year-old couple looking to escape New York for Mexico for two weeks with a trip cost of $6,000 would have the following Aegis quotes:

• Trip Cancellation: $438
• Choice: $404
• Pandemic Plus: $372
• Cruise: $620

Premiums for Aegis plans are between 6.5% and 9.2%, which is roughly in line with the average cost for travel insurance. This is to be expected, as travel insurance is often more expensive for older travelers.

Quotes for Aegis' annual plans are as follows for a 35-year-old from Iowa:

How to Purchase and Manage Your Aegis Policy

To purchase an Aegis policy, you'll have to obtain a quote on its website. You'll need to be able to provide information about yourself and your trip including: 

• Destination(s)
• Total trip cost
• Age of traveler(s)
• Primary email
• Travel dates
• Date of deposit
• State of residence

Aegis gives you quotes on all five of its policies on one page. Once you make a decision, you can also add any available upgrades to your policy, such as pre-existing condition waivers, CFAR coverage, rental car damage, and higher coverage limits. 

How to File a Claim with Aegis

To start a claim, you need to first contact a claims agent over the phone at 866-753-0945 (option 3), sending an email on Aegis' website , or through its live chat service. They'll help you determine which benefits you should file for and supplementary documents you should provide. Your files may even be pre-screened to ensure you have the correct information.

You'll receive an email that gives you access to Aegis's claims portal, where you can file claims and monitor their statuses. Aegis says that claims will be processed within seven to 10 business days. 

Aegis Customer Service and Claims Process

Customer reviews of Aegis are almost solely concentrated on SquareMouth, where it has 4.06 stars out of five across over 1,100 reviews. Reviews that focused on the process of buying a policy were almost unanimously positive. Customer service was helpful in adjusting any policies pre-departure.

However, reviews on Aegis's claims process were more mixed. According to customers, the claims team was hard to get a hold of and the process often took over a month, well over the promised processing window.

Aegis Travel Insurance vs. HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance

HTH Worldwide's most popular TripProtector Preferred plan comes with $500,000 in emergency medical coverage, $50,000 in trip cancellation, $2,000 in baggage loss/damage, and $2,000 in trip delay insurance.

With Aegis's Choice plan, you'll get $250,000 in emergency medical assistance, 150% of trip cost in trip cancellation, $500 in baggage loss/damage coverage, and $200 for baggage delays, and you can get upgraded protection.

In comparing the two plans, you'll see that Aegis travel insurance offers better coverage when it comes to medical protections, but falls short, compared to HTH Worldwide, when it comes to travel coverages.

Aegis Travel Insurance vs. Allianz Travel Insurance

Like Aegis travel insurance, Allianz offers single-trip policies as well as policies for those who plan to travel for a longer period of time. And, like with all insurance, the different plans provide varying degrees of coverage.

Allianz's most popular single-trip option is the OneTrip Prime plan, which offers trip cancellation coverage up to $100,000, trip interruption coverage up to $150,000, emergency medical coverage for $50,000, coverage for baggage loss, theft or damage up to $1,000, and travel delay coverage up to $800.

In comparison, Aegis's Choice plan offers $250,000 in emergency medical assistance, evacuation and repatriation insurance. And it comes with up to $500 in baggage loss or damage coverage and $200 if your bags are delayed. Upgraded protection is also an option.

Aegis Travel Insurance vs. Credit Card Travel Insurance

Be sure to take a look at your travel credit card's insurance coverage before buying a separate policy. Some coverages, like rental car coverage, might already be included.

Let's say, for example, you're taking a road trip and have very minimal (if any) pre-paid or non-refundable trip expenses. In that case, the coverage from your credit card will likely suffice. Or maybe your main concern is trip and baggage delay and cancellation coverage because your current health coverage covers you overseas. That's another instance where credit card insurance coverage might do the trick!

Worth noting, though, is that sometimes credit card coverage is secondary. This means you'll have to make a claim with your other applicable insurance before making a claim with your credit card company.

Aegis covers COVID-19 like any other illness under its medical and cancellation coverage. It also offers coverage for travel delay due to COVID quarantine.

No, you cannot purchase an Aegis plan for a trip in progress.

To file a claim with Aegis, you must first contact a claims agent, who will email you access to the Aegis claims portal, where you can file your claim and keep track of any updates.

Aegis will cover pre-existing medical conditions as long as you purchase your policy within 24 hours or 14 days of your initial trip deposit, depending on your policy. Aegis's Choice plan offers pre-existing condition coverage as an upgrade instead of an inclusion, though the 14-day window still applies.

Aegis' Pandemic Plus, Choice, and Trip Cancellation coverage can be extended by up to seven days.
