Supporting the global release of their critically acclaimed album "Under The Midnight Sun" , in 2023 THE CULT will connect with European fans via a major summer tour with a series of headlining shows and major festival appearances kicking off in Brussels, Belgium on June 14. Accompanying the tour announcement is the release of THE CULT 's fiery, expressionistic new video for "Vendetta X" , the third single from "Under The Midnight Sun" . The song's stylized cinematic reimagining was directed by the band's longtime collaborator Juan Azulay (known for his powerful imagery created with ground-breaking artists spanning SIGUR RÓS to Lydia Lunch ). The video is available to watch below.

THE CULT European tour dates:

June 14 - Ancienne Belgique - Brussels, BE June 15 - LKA Longhorn - Stuttgart, DE June 21 - La Riviera - Madrid, ES June 22 - Razzmatazz - Barceona, ES June 23 - BBK Bilbao Music Legends Festival - Bilbao, ES June 25 - Les Docks - Lausanne, Switzerland June 27 - Budapest Park - Budapest, HU June 29 - Arsenal Fest - Kragujevac, RS June 30 - SRC Salaata - Zagreb, HR July 01 - Pordenone Blues Festival - Pordenone, IT July 04 - Cardiff Castle - Cardiff, UK July 05 - Halifax Piece Hall - Halifax, UK July 06 - Scarborough Open Air Theatre - Scarborough, UK

In a recent interview with Germany's Rock Antenne , THE CULT frontman Ian Astbury was full of praise for "Under The Midnight Sun" , calling it "essential." He clarified: "If you're a fan of rock music, our new record's essential… I don't think there's any recent releases of rock music that come close to 'Under The Midnight Sun' . And to say that, it may sound like an arrogant statement, but I'm tired of this bullshit. Stop it. Stop phoning it in. Stop exploiting your fans. Stop patronizing your fans. And stop calling them fans. They're your benefactors. Our audience are our benefactors."

Astbury continued: "I have such incredible gratitude and respect to people who would actually pay their hard-earned money to walk through a door, buy a record, come to a show, buy a t-shirt. Are you kidding? I was one; I am one. I appreciate that. I appreciate them. And that's why we made this record, because we wanted it to be the best of the best of the best. It's a gift. Yeah, you've gotta pay for it. But I'm sorry, that's… it's society."

"Under The Midnight Sun" arrived in October via Black Hill Records . The LP was produced by Tom Dalgety ( PIXIES , GHOST , ROYAL BLOOD ). Dalgety is the first British producer THE CULT has worked with since its second album, "Love" (1985).

Astbury previously spoke highly of "Under The Midnight Sun" last July in an interview with Dayton Daily News . At the time, he said: "It is a different animal. It destroys 'Hidden City' and anything else we've done in quite a while. We dug deep and put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this record.

"It's a brave new world out there and we want to be a part of it, but you don't get to be a part of it unless you're doing your best work," he added. "There are no free passes for anyone. You're only as good as what's happening today."

In a separate interview with the Los Angeles Daily News , Astbury stated about "Under The Midnight Sun" : "This new album is a really honest, authentic depiction of where we are today. It's a very focused record and it's layered, it's dense, it's celebratory and it gets dark. There's a lot in this record. It's an amalgamation of THE CULT 's major influences, the DNA of the band all culminating in a very special moment."

Born out of the ashes of the U.K. post-punk scene, THE CULT evolved to become one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the late 20th century, selling millions of albums, headlining arenas and stadiums around the world, infusing innovative possibilities into the worlds of music and art, and quickly ascending through the ranks of the indie music world to achieve global status. THE CULT , whose music transformed from punk rock to post-punk, psychedelia, heavy dance music and transcendental hard rock, became one of the handful of important bands in the U.S. post-modern and hard rock communities, and was embraced by a generation that was waking up to the influence of 1960s and 1970s rock icons like LED ZEPPELIN , THE NEW YORK DOLLS and David Bowie .

The constant core of THE CULT is the "head and heart" of the band, Astbury and guitarist/composer Billy Duffy . Attitude incarnate, the chemistry between these two vastly different artists — equal parts genuine affection and palpable tension — remains the source of their long-standing partnership. Duffy grounds Astbury 's esoteric side with a hard rock perspective, and there is no doubt that at all times, these two have each other's back. THE CULT 's current lineup also includes former WHITE ZOMBIE , EXODUS and TESTAMENT drummer John Tempesta .

The Cult (formed in 1983) is an English post-punk and hard rock band, originally formed as a gothic, metal revivalist band with Native American influences, hailing from Bradford, Yorkshire, UK.

Prior to forming The Cult, vocalist Ian Astbury founded the gothic rock band the Southern Death Cult alongside guitarist David Burrows, bassist Barry Jepson, and drummer Haq Quereshi. In December 1982 the band issued their debut double A-sided single “Moya”/“Fatman” and were attracting audiences of up to 2,000 people by their fifth live gig. Following a slot opening for the band Bauhaus, Astbury disbanded the group after reading too many positive articles about them in music periodicals.

By 1983 Astbury had formed Death Cult with guitarist Billy Duffy, drummer Ray Mondo, and bassist Jamie Stewart and released a self-titled EP that summer. With fears of being associated as a gothic band, in 1984 Death Cult became The Cult, boasting their brand of hard rock with punk/psychedelic influences. The band’s debut full-length “Dreamtime” arrived later in 1984 peaking at No. 21 on the UK Albums Chart. The record was led by the single “Spiritwalker”, earned favourable reviews from the musical press, and introduced Astbury’s interest in Native American issues. Prior to touring in support of the release The Cult recorded five songs at Maida Vale 5 studio for Richard Skinner of BBC Radio.

The Cult’s fourth single “She Sells Sanctuary” was released in May 1985, peaking at No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart. By this point Mark Brzezicki had arrived as the group’s new drummer and the band were putting the final touches on their sophomore album. 1985’s ”Love” arrived in August strongly rooting their music away from punk towards 1960’s psychedelia. The album charted well peaking at No. 4 in the UK, and sold impressively throughout Europe, Australia, and the U.S. In support of the release The Cult embarked on a worldwide tour with new drummer Les Warner, during which time the band released the subsequent album singles “Rain” and “Revolution”.

Despite initial recordings not satisfying the Cults’ members, re-recordings in New York with producer Rick Bubin produced positive albeit much heavier results. The 1987 album “Electric” was led by the No. 18 single “Love Removal Machine”, cementing the Cult’s devoted following in the UK and augmenting one in the U.S. The Cult’s fourth full-length album “Sonic Temple” was recorded with Astbury and new drummer Matt Sorum, and represented the group’s most successful release to date. Earning gold certification in the UK and platinum in the U.S., the album’s Top 10 U.S. single “Fire Woman” led to the band touring with Aerosmith, Soundgarden, and Metallica.

With Mickey Curry added on drums and Charlie Dayton on bass, the Cult released their fifth full-length “Ceremony” in 1991. Despite the sales of its predecessor, the Cult project was splintering behind the scenes, and following the release the band took a three year hiatus. The compilation “Pure Cult” arrived in 1993, as did a new rhythm section featuring former Mission bassist Craig Adams and drummer Scott Garrett. Following a disappointing self-titled album in 1994 the band once again took a hiatus with Astbury forming the Holy Barbarians” in 1995.

Astbury, alongside Matt Sorum, Duffy and Martyn LeNoble appeared as The Cult in June 1999 at the Tibetan Freedom Festival. The group later crafted the album “Beyond Good and Evil” in 2001, “Born into This” in 2004, and “Choice of Weapon” in 2012.

Live reviews

The Cult will probably always be most closely associated with the eighties; back then, they came over like The Cure’s more brazen, no-bullshit cousin, with a take on gothic rock that was always more concerned with image and sound than any real thematic preoccupation. Frontman Ian Astbury, too, gave Robert Smith a run for his money in the make-up stakes, and continues to prove a considerably more energetic presence on stage. Outwith that decade, though, they began to struggle, and have been on-again, off-again ever since 1995, when they initially split. Their first reunion, in 1999, saw them drop a well-received new record, Beyond Good and Evil; ten years later, though, Astbury had taken to being altogether more cautious about their future, declaring that no further new material would stem from the reformation. He’s gone back on that promise, though, with Choice of Weapon released two years ago to a strong commercial showing in the United States and Canada, and another largely agreeable reception from rock critics. Whilst the Bradfordians prep another new LP, due later this year, they’re touring their classic 1987 album Electric in its entirety; expect them to flesh out the set with other classics, too, like ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ and ‘Revolution’, before they go out in support of their next album in 2015.

The Cult is opening on this leg of the G 'n R tour. I was super stoked when I heard that. The show I saw was in the Cowboys' AT&T stadium, which is monstrous with less than stellar accoustics. The place was about half-full when The Cult started their set. You could tell Ian was not thrilled about the folks up front that were texting instead of trying to enjoy the music in front of them. He made several comments along those lines. But the band still sounded great. I would actually say it was easier to understand Ian's vocals with less amps behind him than it was to understand Axl with a wall of power behind him. As more people came in and the beer had been flowing, people were getting into the music. The last two songs She Sells Sactuary and Love Removal Machine had everybody engaged. Billy Duffy seemed to feed off that better energy, too, as he began windmilling ala Pete Townsend. They definitely did not disappoint but I think they are better suited for more intimate venue where they can connect more quickly. I would see them again in a heartbeat.

It seems rather fitting to have described British hard rock outfit The Cult as a cult phenomena following their incarnation in the early 80s. The group has now cemented its place on the circuit and despite infrequent breaks in their recording and touring schedules, as of late they are intent on performing to the devoted fanbase who continue to sell out their tours in force.

No longer described as cult, despite the band name, the venue is packed this evening with fans of the group's long discography. They are not disappointed as the quartet takes to their instruments looking energised and intent as they grapple with a first set made exclusively of the 'Electric' album. The second half is far more about showcasing the very best selections of their discography and features the new classics of 'She Sells Sanctuary' and 'Rain'. These are of course received well by the vocal crowds and simply spurs the group on to throw themselves further into the instrumentals. An encore of 'Horse Nation' and 'Sun King' is a fitting end to a rambunctious, nostalgic evening.

I am sorry to say, as a fan of the group since the 80s and watching them live several times I was very disappointed will the singer's Attitude, he seemed so much up his own Arse and arrogant. Spitting on stage. Someone has to clean up!! There was a lot of drinking and dangerous mooshing going on, several girls left there place at the front as they were fearful for there safety . I stayed at front till 2 songs from the end. I was getting badly hurt being pushed against the barrier. What I thought was a absolute disgrace was the singer told the crowd that in a crowd of Six thousand it's stupid putting yourself in danger( hinting at me) and if they don't like the rock way then they should not go to gigs!!? I pay the same as the drunk spaced out individuals who want to cause bother.why should not I expect to be safe? I'm not a fan of them now because of this attitude. music was great, cello and violin at one point with invited musicians. Such a shame the night was spoilt for me and other weaker folk.

The Cult is the reason for my becoming a dedicated musician in 1985. I finally saw them in 2003, it was a huge moment for me but I can admit being a little underwhelmed by the lack of energy on the stage. Sloppy and a bit boring. Fast forward to last night and the difference still has me singing Wild Flower, their opener. They were fantastic! As soon as they walked on-stage their confidence and sound took command and I realized that THIS was what I had been waiting for. The crowd was great, the setlist impeccable, and the chemistry of the Cult very solid. Even Billy Duffy took the mic at the end to express his appreciation for the audience, so I know that they had a blast, too. It really showed!

Right from the off, Astbury was stamping his war dance in a Jim Morrison style as Billy Duffy stood, legs spread as far as possible, firing out a howling solo on his iconic white Gretsch guitar. Rain's towering melody got the crowd jumping as they switched between songs from the new album and old classic’s. Tracks like Fire Woman and Li'l Devil kept up the momentum, with Astbury's voice sounding as primal and defiant as ever. It started off massive and just built from there to an amazing crescendo. Absolutely Brilliant

Saw them once at The Brixton Academy in the UK around Nov 1987. Being an American 15 year old at the time on holiday in the UK at the time, and it being my first real concert, it was an amazing experience. Great memories of them rocking out hard with Billy Duffy crushing the guitar solos. Somehow I remember the opening bands too: crazy pink revolver and Balem and the Angel. Great times. hope to make the wellmont show in NJ. Soundtrack of my youth.

A great show/performance, considering the venue. The River Cree Edmonton, really needs to look and evaluate their room to improve the sound and lessen the '60's/'70's issues of echo feedback, as voiced by Ian Astbury.

With that said, the group delivered a very, memorable rockin', enjoyable performance. I have been a fan from the beginning, well, since 1984 anyway. Still a great fan and deservedly so. ;-)

The entire show was cancelled 50min before the doors were supposed to be open.

The place was locked down and dead upon arrival at 6pm. Not a sole in sight. No

equipment out back..nothing. Total bust.

We were extremely skeptical from the start and it pretty much ended with a

fizzle as we expected.

No love for the NILE and it's related clubs.

Best gig I’ve been to in a while, really slick sound and loads of energy. Ian Astbury’s vocal was incredible had the audience jumping through a succession of crowd-pleasers. I didn’t catch the first act but Yonaka put in a great support-act shift but the Cult were in a different league to many bands I’ve seen this year and I’m looking forward to the next time

The Cult announce tour dates & release new video

Supporting the global release of their critically-acclaimed album  Under the Midnight Sun , in 2023  The Cult  will connect with UK and European fans via a major summer tour – with the series of headlining shows and major festival appearances kicking off in Brussels, Belgium on June 14th.  Accompanying the tour announcement is the release of  The Cult’s  fiery, expressionistic new video for ‘ Vendetta X ’, the third single from  Under The Midnight Sun .

Produced by  Tom Dalgety  (Pixies, Ghost, Royal Blood) and marking the band’s debut release on Black Hill Records,  Under The Midnight Sun  vividly demonstrates how The Cult’s co-founding members,  Ian Astbury  and  Billy Duffy , continue to push further into their esoteric strengths on their 11th album. Flanked by Duffy’s atmospheric riffs and incandescent solos, Astbury reaches new heights of sinewy vulnerability in his vocal presence – bolstering the album’s stylistic alchemy with a lyrical perspective as evocative and mystical as the paradox in the album’s title.

As  The Cult  return to the stage to launch the next chapter of  Under The Midnight Sun, Astbury  hopes that the album’s new dimensions provoke reactions both primal and sublime in listeners’ consciousness – echoing what he himself experienced during its creation. “ At the core of it all, music contains the vibrational frequency of how we once communicated before we could even speak ,” Astbury says. “ Bird songs, animal calls, string theory, quantum physics, psychedelics… The record ultimately becomes about discovering and celebrating anew the beauty from those strangely natural moments that surround and inspire us. ” Under The Midnight Sun track list:

THE CULT Announces June/July 2023 European Tour

jszfunk

https://blabbermouth.net/news/the-cult-announces-june-july-2023-european-tour

Supporting the global release of their critically acclaimed album "Under The Midnight Sun", in 2023 THE CULT will connect with European fans via a major summer tour with a series of headlining shows and major festival appearances kicking off in Brussels, Belgium on June 14. Accompanying the tour announcement is the release of THE CULT's fiery, expressionistic new video for "Vendetta X", the third single from "Under The Midnight Sun". The song's stylized cinematic reimagining was directed by the band's longtime collaborator Juan Azulay (known for his powerful imagery created with ground-breaking artists spanning SIGUR RÓS to Lydia Lunch). The video is available to watch below.

THE CULT European tour dates:

June 14 - Ancienne Belgique - Brussels, BE June 15 - LKA Longhorn - Stuttgart, DE June 21 - La Riviera - Madrid, ES June 22 - Razzmatazz - Barceona, ES June 23 - BBK Bilbao Music Legends Festival - Bilbao, ES June 25 - Les Docks - Lausanne, Switzerland June 27 - Budapest Park - Budapest, HU June 29 - Arsenal Fest - Kragujevac, RS June 30 - SRC Salaata - Zagreb, HR July 01 - Pordenone Blues Festival - Pordenone, IT July 04 - Cardiff Castle - Cardiff, UK July 05 - Halifax Piece Hall - Halifax, UK July 06 - Scarborough Open Air Theatre - Scarborough, UK

In a recent interview with Germany's Rock Antenne, THE CULT frontman Ian Astbury was full of praise for "Under The Midnight Sun", calling it "essential." He clarified: "If you're a fan of rock music, our new record's essential… I don't think there's any recent releases of rock music that come close to 'Under The Midnight Sun'.

"Under The Midnight Sun" arrived in October via Black Hill Records. The LP was produced by Tom Dalgety (PIXIES, GHOST, ROYAL BLOOD). Dalgety is the first British producer THE CULT has worked with since its second album, "Love" (1985).

Astbury previously spoke highly of "Under The Midnight Sun" last July in an interview with Dayton Daily News.

In a separate interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, Astbury stated about "Under The Midnight Sun": "This new album is a really honest, authentic depiction of where we are today. It's a very focused record and it's layered, it's dense, it's celebratory and it gets dark. There's a lot in this record. It's an amalgamation of THE CULT's major influences, the DNA of the band all culminating in a very special moment."

THE CULT, whose music transformed from punk rock to post-punk, psychedelia, heavy dance music and transcendental hard rock, became one of the handful of important bands in the U.S. post-modern and hard rock communities, and was embraced by a generation that was waking up to the influence of 1960s and 1970s rock icons like LED ZEPPELIN, THE NEW YORK DOLLS and David Bowie.

The constant core of THE CULT is the "head and heart" of the band, Astbury and guitarist/composer Billy Duffy. Attitude incarnate, the chemistry between these two vastly different artists — equal parts genuine affection and palpable tension — remains the source of their long-standing partnership. Duffy grounds Astbury's esoteric side with a hard rock perspective, and there is no doubt that at all times, these two have each other's back. THE CULT's current lineup also includes former WHITE ZOMBIE, EXODUS and TESTAMENT drummer John Tempesta.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Nita Strauss is a descendant of Johan Strauss

Guitar shredder Nita Strauss, perhaps best-known for being Alice Cooper's guitarist since 2014, is a descendant of 19th century Austrian composer Johann Strauss II. Explaining she's related to Johan on her father's side, Nita told Ultimate Guitar: "We have a lot of musicians, like, everyone on my dad's side of the family is all musicians, all the way back to the Viennese Strausses." Asked if she would consider performing Johan's music, Nita said: "You know, the waltz doesn't really sound good on the guitar. Like, I've sort of experimented a bit. I have to explore it more, because I would like to. And actually, we talked even about using 'The Blue Danube' as intro music for the tour or something, but it's so on the nose. It's sort of, like, so obvious, but I still want to explore it when I have a little more time."

Meat Loaf was the father-in-law of Scott Ian

Anthrax axeman Scott Ian married the late-great Meat Loaf's daughter Pearl Aday, who is also a rock musician, in 2011, and they have a 10-year-old son together called Revel. When Meat Loaf passed away in January 2022, the thrash musician paid poignant tribute, writing: "There are so many stories to tell, and I know they will all be told over time. For now, what I know is that Meat's legacy will live on through his family - Pearl, Amanda and Revel. Their forever love for their father/grandfather (Papa Meat) outweighs the heaviness of their hearts. Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love, we feel it. I love you Meat."

Suzi Quatro is the aunt of Sherilyn Fenn

Detroit rock icon Suzi Quatro is the auntie of actor and author Sherilyn Fenn, who is best known for playing Audrey Horne in David Lynch's cult TV series Twin Peaks. Fenn's mum is keyboardist Arlene Quatro who was a member of the rock band The Pleasure Seekers with her younger sister Suzi in the 1960s.

Joe Walsh and Ringo Starr's wives are sisters

Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh became Ringo Star's relative in 2008 when he married Marjorie Bach, who is the sister of Ringo's wife Barbara Bach. Already good friends before becoming relatives, Joe was previously a member of Ringo's All-Starr Band from 1989 and into the early 90s, and Ringo appeared on Joe's 1991 solo album 'Ordinary Average Guy.'

Mick Jones is the stepfather of Mark Ronson

Foreigner guitarist, songwriter and only constant member Mick Jones is the stepfather of phenomenally successful musician and producer Mark Ronson. Mick Jones married Ann Dexter-Jones in the early 1980s and became stepfather to her three children Mark, Samantha and Charlotte Ronson. Mark Ronson has stated in interviews that he was surrounded by music throughout his childhood thanks to Mick, which led him to pursue a career in the music industry.

Mick Jones is the father of Annabelle Dexter-Jones

Succession actor Annabelle Dexter-Jones is the daughter of Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones and jewellery designer Ann Dexter-Jones. Through her mum, she is also the half-sister of Mark Ronson, Charlotte Ronson and Samantha Ronson.

Axl Rose was briefly the son-in-law of Don Everly

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was very briefly the son-in-law of Don Everly of The Everly Brothers fame. Axl began dating Don's daughter Erin Everly in 1986 and wrote the lyrics for Guns N' Roses' enduring anthem 'Sweet Child O' Mine' about her before she appeared in the 1988 music video for the track. Axl and Erin got hitched in 1990 and split the following year.

Richard says one of his proudest moments was seeing his sibling on Top of the Pops for the first time 30 years ago in 1992: "I said to him: 'You're on Top of the Pops, mate.' I was so proud of him."

Bill Wyman was almost his own son’s son-in-law

In a truly mind-boggling scenario, ex Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman almost became his own son's son-in-law and his own step-grandfather. When Bill separated from his first wife Mandy Smith (pictured, who was 18 at the time of marriage), his 30-year-old son Stephen married Mandy's mother, Patsy. Had Bill's marriage remained intact, he would have become his son's son-in-law, because he was married to his son's stepdaughter. Mandy Smith would have become Stephen Wyman's mother because she would be his father's wife. Thanks to his marriage to Mandy's mother, Stephen Wyman would have become both Mandy's son and father. Similarly, Patsy Smith would have been Mandy's daughter as well as her mother.

Lenny Kravitz and Al Roker are second cousins

NEW VIDEO FOR ‘VENDETTA X’ OUT NOW

ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN TOUR FOR SUMMER 2023

Supporting the global release of their critically-acclaimed album  Under the Midnight Sun , in 2023  The Cult  will connect with UK and European fans via a major summer tour – with the series of headlining shows and major festival appearances kicking off in Brussels, Belgium on June 14th.

Accompanying the tour announcement is the release of The Cult’s  fiery, expressionistic new video for ‘ Vendetta X ’, the third single from  Under The Midnight Sun .

The song’s stylized cinematic reimagining was directed by the band’s long-time collaborator Juan Azulay  (known for his powerful imagery created with ground-breaking artists spanning Sigur Rós to Lydia Lunch).

Full European tour dates are below – buy tickets HERE .

THE CULT – EUROPEAN TOUR – SUMMER 2023

June 14th @ Ancienne Belgique (Brussels, BE) June 15th @ LKA Longhorn (Stuttgart, DE) June 21st @ La Riviera (Madrid, ES) June 22nd @ Razzmatazz (Barceona, ES) June 23rd @ BBK Bilbao Music Legends Festival (Bilbao, ES) June 25th @ Les Docks (Lausanne, Switzerland) June 27th @ Budapest Park (Budapest, HU) June 29th @ Arsenal Fest (Kragujevac, RS) June 30th @ SRC Salaata (Zagreb, HR) July 1st @ Pordenone Blues Festival (Pordenone, IT) July 4th @ Cardiff Castle (Cardiff, UK) July 5th @ Halifax Piece Hall (Halifax, UK) July 6th @ Scarborough Open Air Theatre (Scarborough, UK)

The evolution of music will never end – review of High on Fire’s album “Cometh The Storm”

What is the most beautiful characteristic of heavy metal music and its artists? They never seem to get comfortable: instead, they always try to improve, to surprise, to innovate, and yet to remain coherent in their art. This is what I would consider the main theme of High on Fire‘s ninth album “Cometh The Storm”....

  • July 6th @ Scarborough Open Air Theatre (Scarborough, UK)

As The Cult return to the stage to launch the next chapter of Under The Midnight Sun, Astbury hopes that the album’s new dimensions provoke reactions both primal and sublime in listeners’ consciousness - echoing what he himself experienced during its creation. ”

Under The Midnight Sun track list:

  • A Cut Inside
  • Give Me Mercy
  • Outer Heaven
  • Knife Through Butterfly Heart
  • Impermanence
  • Under The Midnight Sun

MASTER BOOT RECORD Announces European Tour for the Fall of 2024!

the cult europe tour 2023

- April 17th, 2024 –

Italy-based electronic metal project MASTER BOOT RECORD ( MBR ) will return to European stages in the fall for a full tour! Check the full routing below.

MASTER BOOT RECORD is helmed by technologist/producer/songwriter Victor Love (AKA Vittorio D’Amore). Founded in 2016, Love fuses heavy metal and synthesized electronic music to fabricate a sound that exists in a singular category of its own. The live shows see D’Amore taking the stage along with guitar virtuoso Edoardo Taddei on lead guitars and technical death metal drummer Giulio Galati and features stunning retro-visuals in a journey into demoscene, crack scene, and retrogaming.

Comments Love: “ We are very excited to return to Europe this fall to spread the code after the great success of our previous tour! We’ll revisit many cities where we’ve already performed, as well as explore new ones, as we continue to expand our touring plans in collaboration with Doomstar Bookings. With a new album expected to release just before the tour, we will introduce a fresh setlist that includes new songs along with classics from our discography. Additionally, we plan to enhance our visual shows with more hardware, computers, cathode TVs, and a load of floppy disks to be thrown at the end of each show! “

MASTER BOOT RECORD ‘s most recent studio offering, Personal Computer , was released in 2022 on Metal Blade Records. Personal Computer serves as Love’s eighth full-length album since emerging – as an 8-bit ghost – from the bulletin board system (BBS) scene in 2016. A symbolism-rich mélange of intensely ornate yet driving digital orchestrations, don’t call Personal Computer synthwave, or whatever new-fangled term is being used to describe MASTER BOOT RECORD ‘s masterful videogame-like scoring. To put it simply: this is metal done with a synth.

Notes Love, “ The main elements include chiptune, demoscene, and video game music, thrash/death metal and some black metal as well as classical and symphonic patterns and progressive structures. But everything is programmed and done with synthesizers .”

The result, influenced as much by classical baroque music, Bay Area thrash, and Commodore 64 games, is a frenzied mashup of what logic suggests should be disparate sounds, but in the hands of MBR , make sense, taking the listener in unexpected and always thrilling directions, smashing through genre walls.

“ The grand crescendos create excitement, and the lulls create a dire suspense…the frontiers of metal have just gotten richer… and Victor Love is leading the way with MASTER BOOT RECORD .” — The Spill Magazine

G4D Tour announces expanded 2023 schedule

The G4D Tour (Golf for the Disabled Tour) today announces its 2023 global schedule, with an expanded calendar of eight tournaments in six countries.

Rasmus Lia and Juan Postigo

Launched in 2022 with an initial seven-event schedule, the G4D Tour sees the world’s leading golfers with a disability compete on the same course, the same week, as professionals on the DP World Tour.

The 2023 season will see additional uplifts to the G4D Tour, including the introduction of a season-long Order of Merit to crown the Number One player.

Each G4D Tour event is open to amateurs and professional players of all eligible impairments, men and women. For 2023, players will be able to qualify from both their ranking on the gross division of the World Ranking for Golfers with a Disability (WR4GD) and events on the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) Tour, ensuring an international pathway to reach the G4D Tour. The European Tour group pays the expenses of players as they travel around the world, to ensure that the Tour is open to all players regardless of their financial circumstances.

To be eligible, all players must have a World Ranking for Golfers with a Disability and an EDGA Player Pass. Since the G4D Tour launched earlier this year, applications for a World Ranking and Player Pass have reached record levels, with 20% of all passes secured in 2022 alone – showing the impact the G4D Tour is having on raising awareness and increasing participation. The DP World Tour will continue to utilise its social media channels, and relationships with global broadcasters, to showcase the G4D Tour on a range of media platforms throughout the 2023 season.

This year’s inaugural season, which had its finale at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, saw England’s Kipp Popert win four G4D Tour titles and regain his position as World Number One on the WR4GD. The other tournament winners were England’s Mike Browne, Italy’s Tommaso Perrino and Sweden’s Rasmus Lia. Players of ten different nationalities competed, showing the international reach of the Tour.

The Australian All Abilities Championship, starting on Friday December 2, will be the first event of the 2023 G4D Tour season, with World Number One Popert leading the field of 12 competitors teeing it up at Victoria Golf Club. The Australian All Abilities Championship forms part of a festival of golf on Australia’s world-renowned sandbelt, taking place concurrently with the ISPS HANDA Australian men’s and women’s Opens.

The tournament will be played across three rounds at Victoria Golf Club, with World Number Two Brendan Lawlor and Spaniard Juan Postigo Arce, ranked fourth on the WR4GD also competing. World Number 12 Geoff Nicholas leads the home charge, having made history in 2019 as the first amputee golfer to qualify for The Senior Open presented by Rolex at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Speaking about the enhanced 2023 schedule Keith Pelley, Chief Executive of the European Tour group, said: “The G4D Tour has been a tremendous success since it launched earlier this year. We have seen unprecedented numbers of golfers with a disability enquire about playing on the Tour and getting a World Ranking, thanks to the ability for these inspirational players to play Tour level courses next to the best players on the DP World Tour.

“We have developed a very close relationship with EDGA and the European Tour group will continue to support the association in its focus on developing capacity within the golf industry, through a variety of education and development activities. I firmly believe that golf has the potential to be the most inclusive sport in the world and the G4D Tour is a major step in realising this ambition.”

Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, added: “The G4D Tour is the visible manifestation of EDGA’s development of golf for the disabled – a process that started 22 years ago. Since our first collaboration with the European Tour group and DP World Tour, there has been exponential growth at all levels. The G4D Tour has created greater awareness and resulted in a cascade effect with more tournaments at every level, more national federations building accessible activities, and of course, more grassroots programmes than ever before. The support that the European Tour group and DP World Tour provide to EDGA helps make all of this possible.”

British avant-pop and electronic sensation Charli XCX, fresh off the announcement of her sold-out “BRAT 2024 – ARENA TOUR” shows in the UK, is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sixth solo album , ‘BRAT’ . The album, set to feature 15 tracks, includes the hit single “ Von dutch ” – the brash and synth heavy first taste of the record – alongside recent releases ‘ Club classics ’ and ‘ B2b ’.

Charli also recently unveiled ‘ The Von dutch remix with addison rae & a. g. cook ’, an effervescent rework of the smash hit single featuring A. G. Cook’s signature brand of idiosyncratic production and Charli and Addison going back and forth on vocals.

Charli threw a momentous Boiler Room in New York’s Brooklyn in February to launch the ‘BRAT’ campaign with A. G. Cook, George Daniel, Finn Keane and Doss. ‘ Boiler Room & Charli XCX Presents: PARTYGIRL ’ broke the record for the most ever RSVPs to a Boiler Room event, with over 40k people registering to attend. Featuring special guest appearances from the likes of Addison Rae and Julia Fox, the show has easily become one of the viral moments of the year.

Australian pop sensation Troye Sivan, known for his chart-topping hits and captivating performances, will be coming off the heels of his European arena tour in support of his critically acclaimed third album, “Something to Give Each Other” (2023) –  a celebration of sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love and friendship. His hit single “Rush ” – which earned two Grammy nominations and amassed over 180 million combined global streams to date–  and “ Got Me Started ,” the second single from his 2023 album, have gained worldwide recognition amongst his dedicated fan base.

Troye Sivan and Charli XCX are no strangers to collaboration, having previously worked together on smash hits such as “1999” and “2099.” Their undeniable chemistry and shared passion for music have solidified their partnership as one of the most dynamic duos in pop music.
