From Lionel Poitou, prop., Château Tour De Haut-Moulin 2015 is a rich, full-bodied maturing red wine blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance in Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes. On the palate the wine is showing brambleberry fruits, plum, cedar brush spice and a lingering mocha finish. Tannins are pleasantly grippy. The wine was aged 15 months in French oak barrels (25% new). Since 1870, Chateau Tour du Haut-Moulin has been owned by the Poitou family. Lionel Poitou is its 6th generation owner. Drink or hold.

Food pairings: roast pork, beef bourgignon, tourtiere.

Situated in Cussac-Fort-Médoc at the heart of Haut-Médoc, the wine estate was established in 1870 and was since managed by the Cazaux-Poitou family for 6 generations. In 2024, the estate was purchased by Tzora Vineyards, owned by Hevrony family & Flam Winery, owned by Flam family – two leading producers of the Judean Hills region, with the aim of maximizing the potential of the estate while maintaining its long-standing history and tradition.

This vision is shared by our team: Eran Pick MW completed his B.Sc. degree in Viticulture and Enology with Highest Honors at the University of California, Davis. He is a Master of Wine since 2016. Lionel Poitou’s ancestors founded Château Tour du Haut-Moulin in 1870 and so he has been a part of the property since he was born. Here’s What To Know Before Your First Time At Moulin Rouge

Paris is being reinvented , but there are some famous landmarks in the City of Lights that will always remain. One is the Moulin Rouge, a French cabaret that has been running since 1889. The Moulin Rouge is one of the things we love most about Paris and it is one of the top things to see and do in Paris . Here’s what to know before your first time - including for those visiting with a family. The Moulin Rouge is kid friendly - but with some qualifications (many conservative families may disagree).

Moulin Rouge! is a 2001 jukebox musical romantic drama film released in 2001 and adapted into one of the great musicals. Go to Paris and get the tickets to see Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on the movie and is one of the top musicals to be seen today. The movie was directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

UPDATE: 2023/05/04 14:27 EST BY AARON SPRAY

Is Moulin Rouge Paris Kid Friendly

One of the most asked questions is whether the Moulin Rouge Paris is family-friendly. The answer to that question is slightly complicated in that it is a French show in Paris and the people asking are often Americans or Canadians with a different sense of what is family-friendly. This article was updated and expanded with a discussion on whether the Moulin Rouge is kid-friendly or not.

What To Know Of The Moulin Rouge Musical

The musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical only premiered in 2018 in Boston with the show coming to Broadway the next year.

Arguably the most atmospheric place to watch the musical show is in Paris. Moulin Rouge! is set in Paris's Montmartre Quarter during the Belle Epoque at the return of the century. The Belle Epoque ("Beautiful Epoch") was the period from around 1871-1880 (after the Franco-Prussian War) to the devastation of World War 1 in 1914.

  • Set: Turn Of The Century, Paris

This period is remembered as being characterized by optimism, economic prosperity, technological innovation, and flourishing arts, while the French Empire was at its zenith. The period is considered to be a European "Golden Age" and a period of relative peace and prosperity.

Moulin Rouge! tells the tale of Christian (a young composer) falling in love with cabaret actress Satine - the star of the Moulin Rouge.

Is Moulin Rouge Kid Friendly?

Is Moulin Rouge kid friendly? As a rule, Moulin Rouge is kid friendly - at least by European standards. However, parents should show common sense and decide for themselves what they are happy to let their kids see.

  • Age Limit Moulin Rouge: Aged 6 Years Old And Over

Moulin Rouge in Paris is open for all ages with children being accepted into the show from the age of six (so long as they are accompanied by an adult). However, keep in mind that the "Féérie" does include some passages with nudity. There is also a scene in which Satine is violently thrown onto a bed and almost raped by the Count. There are plenty of sexual innuendos throughout the show and a lengthy death scene at the end.

For France, the Moulin Rouge is considered family-friendly, and the show offers reduced rates for children under the age of 12. They also have a children's menu at their dinner show for those under 12 years of age. Note that this is France and so the drinking age is 18. No drinks are served to children under 18.

So while Moulin Rouge may be a family-friendly show in France, it may not be for more conservative families from the United States. It is up to the parents to decide for themselves if Moulin Rouge is kid friendly for their particular family values.

Where Is It And When Is The Best Time To Go

The Moulin Rouge is proof that the Eiffel Tower isn’t the only fabulous landmark to visit in Paris . The French Cabaret is located at the bottom of Montmartre Hill in the district of Pigalle. There’s a taxi rank right across the road from the theater and the closest Metro stop is directly over the road, so it’s pretty easy to get to!

  • Time: 9.00 pm and 11.00 pm Nightly

There are two Moulin Rouge shows every night, the first taking place at 9 p.m. and the second at 11 p.m. They’re on every night of the week throughout the year but tend to fill up more quickly in the busy summer months of June, July, and August.

The Rules For Attendance

The important thing to know before visiting the Moulin Rouge is that patrons are expected to follow certain rules. Firstly, taking photos inside the theater is banned. You can take as many pictures as you like at the front of the building, but if you are caught trying to snap any shots during the show or inside the theater, you will be asked to delete the photos and then kicked out.

  • Photos: Prohibited

There is also a certain dress code that all patrons are expected to follow. It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed, with the minimum requirements being smart dress. This means that shorts, flip flops, activewear, sports shoes, and other casual garments are a no-no.

RELATED: Forget The Eiffel Tower. Here's Why You Need To Go To Paris

The Show Might Not Be Appropriate For Children

Children are allowed into the Moulin Rouge from the age of six as long as they are dressed properly and accompanied by an adult. That doesn’t mean, however, that the show is appropriate for children. Being a cabaret, the show features scantily dressed dancers who show a lot of skin. Whether or not it’s okay for children to see that is something that every parent or guardian has to decide for themselves. In general, if you’re not okay with your young children seeing partial nudity, it’s not a good idea to bring them to the Moulin Rouge.

There are also steamy traditional cancan shows in Canada's boomtown of Dawson City worth seeing .

Skip The Dinner If You Want To Save

Another thing to know before seeing a show at the Moulin Rouge is that you also have the option to book in dinner before the show begins, which is served at 7 p.m. The dinner served is as fancy as you’d expect of the Parisian establishment, but if you’re looking to save money, it might not be worth it.

  • Dinner Time: 7.00 pm

Tickets For Moulin Rouge:

  • Show Only: Around 87€ To 120€
  • Dinner & Show: Around 190€ and 420€

Tickets for the show only are between around 87€ and 120€, while those for dinner and the show are between 190€ and 420€ per person. If you want to eat around 100€ worth of gourmet food before the show, all the power to you. But if you’re looking to save money, there are plenty of cheaper dinner options around Paris that you can go for before seeing the show.

Where To Get Tickets

You can get tickets for the Moulin Rouge online which comes in the form of admission-only tickets or tickets that are part of a large tour or travel bundle. For example, it’s possible to buy tickets that incorporate both the Moulin Rouge and a cruise down the River Seine. These can be great savers depending on what you had planned for your Paris itinerary.

  • VIP Tickets: Up To 430€

Every show at the Moulin Rouge has VIP tickets on offer for up to 430€. This comes with access to the VIP seating area, chocolates or macarons, half a bottle of champagne, and a complimentary coat-check. Note that some sites add different booking fees for Moulin Rouge tickets, so be sure to read the fine print before choosing the right site for you.

Netflix’s sports documentary series on the world-famous Tour de France is back for a second season, with eight new episodes set to land on Netflix globally on June 11th, 2024. The series will go behind the scenes of the 110th edition of the cycling race, which Jonas Vingegaard ultimately won for the third year in a row.

Before the release of season 1 on June 8th, 2023, it was announced that Tour de France: Unchained had already received a second season order . Cycling Weekly was the first to report that the documentary series would cover the 2023 race, which occurred between July 1st and 23rd, 2023.

Per Netflix, the new season will consist of another eight episodes, with the streamer providing the following tidbits about the new season:

“This new season goes behind the scenes of the 21 stages of Tour de France 2023: amid the scandals, low blows and thirst for glory; amid the dramatic falls and historic breakaways; amid the withdrawals and desire to win: the series dives back into the fierce battle of the riders for the yellow jersey!”

The new season will continue in its first season footsteps, with interviews with everyone in various teams, picking the riders’ brains and the people behind the teams.

Unlike most of the other sports documentaries that have flooded onto Netflix recently, Tour de France: Unchained is in a co-distribution deal with France Télévisions, which will carry it in France.

Box to Box Films is the production company behind Netflix’s co-distribution release. It has pioneered the sports docuseries over the past few years, starting out with Formula 1: Drive to Survive , which is currently in production with its seventh season . They’re also behind Six Nations: Full Contact , which has been given a second season order, plus Break Point , which has concluded after 1 season, and Full Swing , currently awaiting a season 3 renewal.

What to Know About Xi Jinping’s Trip to Europe

The Chinese president this week will be visiting France, Serbia and Hungary. His trip comes at a time of tensions with many European countries over trade and accusations of Chinese espionage.

This week, for the first time in five years, President Xi Jinping of China is visiting Europe, with stops in France, Serbia and Hungary.

Mr. Xi’s trip comes at a time of tensions with many European countries over China’s support for Russia in the face of its war in Ukraine, its trade practices and its apparent espionage activities . The trip will also test Europe’s delicate balancing act between China and the United States.

Mr. Xi hopes to head off a trade war with the European Union as frictions rise over exports of Chinese electric vehicles and diminished market access for European companies in China. Mr. Xi will also encourage President Emmanuel Macron of France to pursue greater autonomy from the United States in a bid to weaken Washington’s global dominance.

Here is what we know about Mr. Xi’s trip, which began Sunday.

What is the significance of Mr. Xi’s itinerary?

The three countries Mr. Xi will be visiting, experts say , to varying degrees embrace China’s push for a redefined global order. All have to some extent questioned America’s postwar ordering of the world, and are eager to bolster ties with Beijing.

Hungary has close ties to China and is keen to attract Chinese investments in areas like electric car and battery manufacturing as Chinese producers expand beyond Asia. Serbia, too, has warm relations with Beijing and has secured billions of dollars in Chinese investment.

Mr. Xi’s first stop is France, where Mr. Macron recently said that Europe “must never be a vassal of the United States,” and has cast France as a bridge between the “Global South” and Western powers.

Despite his courting of Beijing, Mr. Macron has said he is still closer to its ally, the United States, than to China.

“I prefer to choose my relationship with the United States, with China, rather than have it imposed on me by one of the two parties, either pushing me in one direction or pulling me in the other,” he said in an interview with The Economist magazine. But, he added: “Very clearly, we are not equidistant. We are allies of the Americans.”

Before Mr. Xi’s visit, Chinese diplomats expressed hopes that ties between France and China would be at the forefront of China’s relations with the West .

Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, the E.U.’s executive branch, joined talks on Monday with Mr. Xi and Mr. Macron in Paris.

This year is also a symbolic one for China and the three countries.

It is the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France and the 75th of those with Hungary.

This year is also the 25th anniversary of the NATO bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, during the Kosovo war, which killed three Chinese journalists and set off angry protests at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Chinese authorities have continued to point to the bombing as a sign of NATO aggression and an example of why Russia was justified in feeling threatened before it decided to invade Ukraine.

When was the last time Mr. Xi visited Europe?

Mr. Xi’s last European visit was in 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, which he spent hunkered down in China, leaving the country’s borders for the first time in the fall of 2022 .

The 2019 trip included a flashy ceremony in Rome to celebrate Italy’s participation in China’s Belt and Road global infrastructure project, which is aimed at expanding China’s influence abroad. France rolled out the red carpet for Mr. Xi in Paris and signed more than a dozen commercial and governmental treaties worth billions of euros, even as Mr. Macron warned that “China plays on our divisions” and that “the period of European naïveté is over.”

Mr. Xi also visited Greece , where he pledged his support to the country in its struggle with Britain to obtain the Parthenon sculptures known as the Elgin Marbles .

How is the relationship between Europe and China?

Since Mr. Xi’s last visit, there has been a widening rift in the relationship between China and much of Europe. The coronavirus pandemic , Beijing’s embrace of Russia and its repression of ethnic minorities, and a surge in Chinese exports have generated backlashes against China in many European countries.

China has quintupled car shipments to foreign markets in recent years, and the European Union has recently adopted a more confrontational tone over China’s trade practices. E.U. authorities have opened an investigation that could result in limits on Chinese solar exports, and have taken preliminary steps toward restricting trade with Chinese goods that include electric cars, wind turbines and medical devices.

Italy has also told China that it would no longer participate in its Belt and Road Initiative, and last month, six people in Europe were charged with spying for China in the span of a week, in a sign that European countries are stepping up their response to Chinese espionage.

At the same time, European nations vary in their views on how to engage with Beijing and benefit from economic opportunities there, and some are fearful of any imposition of European tariffs.

Mr. Macron and Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany also think that China’s leverage will be critical in bringing an end to the war in Ukraine.
