Where do the Steelers play their home games?

Acrisure Stadium, formerly known as Heinz Field, is the renowned football stadium situated in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that proudly serves as the home of the Steelers.

How to get to Acrisure Stadium

Public Transportation Since parking on the North Shor near the stadium is reserved and pre-sold, it's often easier to park and ride to the stadium using other options. Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) offers light rail service on the “T” and city buses for fans coming from Downtown Pittsburgh and surrounding suburbs. Riverboat Shuttles The Gateway Clipper also offers gameday riverboat rides to the stadium and is my personal favorite way to get to the game. Park at Station Square, grab your tickets and enjoy your ride around the Point with raucous, fun-loving fans before getting dropped off right at the stadium. Where’s the best place to tailgate before a Steelers game?

The tailgating scene in Pittsburgh is a lot of fun. You can find tailgaters grilling and getting amped up with the rest of Steelers Nation in designated parking lots. The parking lots open five hours prior to kick-off and you can find more tailgating information and regulations here .

If you want to tailgate but don't have a group to join up with, the Stage AE Tailgate Zone is perfect for you! Admission is free, and the event has live music, giant TVs, food and drink specials, along with prizes and autographed items you can win.

Where to eat near Acrisure Stadium?

The North Shore, home to Acrisure Stadium, is filled with plenty of bars and restaurants for all football fans. Shorty's Pins & Pints, Southern Tier , Burgatory and Bar Louie are also popular spots to grab a craft beer pre- or post-game that are walkable to Acrisure.

What is the Acrisure Stadium bag policy?

Leave your backpacks and large tote bags at home because Acrisure Stadium has an “All Clear On Game Day” safety policy requiring guests to carry their items in clear bags. Any non-clear bag exceeding 4.5” by 6.5” is not permitted. Where to eat inside the stadium?

New for 2023: You can now find additional Caliente Pizza locations as well as new Little Caesars pizza stops throughout the stadium for your pizza fix. Other fan favorites now on the menu in-stadium include chipped ham, an Only in Pittsburgh favorite, plus poutine tots and fudge puppies.

The Steelers Hall of Honor Museum , located near Gate B of Acrisure Stadium, is open to the public year-round Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. It's a perfect pre-game experience for fans of all ages. Walk through every decade of Steelers history with interactive displays loaded with memorabilia. Guests can even step into the announce booth and call their own plays as they relive the greatest moments in Steelers history. Created by Steelers radio broadcaster, Myron Cope in 1975, the Terrible Towel is easily one of the most recognizable symbols in the NFL and waving it during games has become a revered tradition. What is the song played during the fourth quarter? When the Steelers need a big stop in the fourth quarter, the song Renegade by Styx resonates throughout Acrisure Stadium. Playing the song is a tradition that's equally important for fans as it is for players and represents Pittsburgh's defensive strength in the fourth quarter.

What’s the meaning behind the Steelers logo? While it's widely known that the Steelers are named for Pittsburgh's rich steel history, few recognize the meaning behind the logo. Each of the hypocycloids represents one of the three materials used to make steel. Yellow represents coal, red is for iron ore and steel scrape is illustrated with blue.

Why do Steelers fans chant “Here We Go Steelers?” During games, you'll hear fans chanting "Here We Go, Steelers!" While it seems like a simple chant, there's some history behind this one too. “Here We Go,” originally written by Rodger Wood and recorded in 1994, was and still is intended as a Steelers fight song. Having sold more than 120,000 copies of the original, Here We Go is now regularly updated to mention current players' names and has become an anthem for the team during playoffs.

Fans can visit the Steelers Hall of Honor Museum year-round, Thursday-Monday, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

May 2024 – there are certain dates and times that the museum will not have public access due to school field trips. Please check booking calendar before coming to the museum

Parking & Entry

The Steelers Hall of Honor Museum is located above the Steelers Pro Shop at Acrisure Stadium and accessible via the Gate B suite entry.

Parking is available around Acrisure Stadium via SpotHero, bus parking and metered street parking are available along Art Rooney Avenue and Reedsdale Street.

The tour fee is as follows: adults - $18, seniors (62+)/military - $15, children (ages 6-17) - $12, and children ages 5 & under can attend for free.

For groups of 20 or more please call 412-697-7150, and then press "5" to speak with Stadium Experiences.

Cancellation Policy

Customers needing to cancel are eligible to receive a full refund if cancelling at least 7 days prior to the scheduled tour date. In the case of operator cancellation, customers will receive a full refund or credit for other stadium experiences.

FEATURED EXHIBITS

Hall of Honor Wall

Perhaps the highlight of the tour is the Hall of Honor that houses the bronzed football of each of the Hall of Honor members, currently 49 on display. Visitors also have the opportunity to learn about each member through touch screen kiosks that include bios, photos, and videos on the inductees.

Rotating Exhibit

The museum features a new rotating exhibit highlighting NFL Hall of Famers and the only three players to have their jersey retired in franchise history: Franco Harris, Ernie Stautner and Joe Greene.

Other additions include personalized interactive feature for fans and new mannequin displays that display historic uniforms from key moments in franchise history.

Historic Archives

Collected from 90 years of Steelers football, fans can view each of the six championship rings, artifacts and game worn uniforms from some of the greatest plays in NFL history and more.

Interactive Exhibits

The walk through each decade of the franchise is accompanied by interactive videos, music, and calls to learn more about each moment and player. The Broadcast Booth is sure to be a favorite as fans make their stamp on a historic Steelers play call.

ART ROONEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A portion of the museum proceeds are donated to the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund, which was established in memory of the late founder of the Steelers. The scholarship annually provides a grant to a North Catholic High School student and funds the Pittsburgh Promise scholarships for two students graduating from Pittsburgh high schools.

EXPERIENCE & TOUR FAQs

Acrisure Stadium Security Guidelines including  prohibited items  and the  NFL Clear Bag Policy  will apply to your tour experience. For tours taking place on non-game days, there will be an exception for strollers. Guests who do not comply with these guidelines will be asked to return them to their vehicle.

For  School Group Tours , a nurse or chaperone will be permitted to carry one medical bag. This bag will be subject to search and tagged by security upon entry.

Parking is available in several lots on the North Shore.  Click here  for current rates. **PLEASE NOTE: The North Shore holds a number of events throughout the year that utilize the parking lots around Acrisure Stadium. Be advised that parking rates and availability may change based on these events. Stadium experiences will not be refunded based on parking challenges so please plan ahead!

All Hall of Honor Museum and Game Day Tour guests must enter through the Suite B lobby along Art Rooney Avenue to the right of the Steelers Pro Shop.

We ask all guests to arrive at the stadium 15 minutes before their scheduled experience.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Tours are approximately 75 minutes in length and include over one (1) mile of walking. Comfortable walking shoes are encouraged. No heels or metal bottom shoes.

PSL seat visits are not available before, after or during the tour. Stadium tours follow a predetermined route that is timed to maximize the experience of all guests.

Tickets are available online approximately five (5) weeks in advance. Capacity is limited. Tickets should be purchased online in advance.

Tickets are required for all guests, age two and older. Guests of all ages may attend the Overtime Experience

Those younger than two years of age are free of charge. Please note that strollers/wagons are not allowed on the tour.

Tours are customized daily based on availability of tour features. This is no guarantee that all stops or features will be included on every tour. If a Stadium event is scheduled, public tours will not be available. All tour dates, times, and tour stops are subject to change without notice due to events at Allegiant Stadium. All sales are final.

After your tour has completed, tour guests receive a 10% discount at the Raider Image team store at Allegiant Stadium. This is a one-time-only discount. Be prepared to present your tour lanyard at checkout.

Allegiant Stadium is a cashless venue. For guests who only bring cash, we have cash-to-card kiosks in the Stadium where guests can exchange cash for a pre-paid card that can be used anywhere major credit cards are accepted.

Please know that Allegiant Stadium tours have loud noises, dark areas and flashing lights.

Photography, videos or any recordings for commercial use is not allowed. Videography is prohibited during the tour at all times.

What will I get to see on the tour?

Some of the areas you may get to visit on your stadium tour include: the Al Davis Memorial Torch, Broadcast Booth, Private Suites and Clubs, Raiderette Locker Room, Ubeo Press Conference Room, Raiders Locker Rooms and Field. Tour routes and experiences are subject to change due to availability based on events and activities throughout the Stadium.

Can I purchase tickets at Allegiant Stadium?

What are the hours of operation?

All tour dates, times, and stops are subject to frequent changes without notice due to events at Allegiant Stadium. To find out if tours are available for a particular date, please view available tours dates and times here .

Where is tour guest parking?

Tour guests are encouraged to park for free in LOT C at the North end of Allegiant Stadium at the corner of Allegiant Stadium Way and Al Davis Way.   Please CLICK HERE for more parking information.

Do I need to pay to park at Allegiant Stadium?

Parking is free on non-game days.

Where should I enter?

Tour guests should enter at the north security gate entry point.  If there is a line, please notify security that you are a tour guest to reduce your wait time. Please have your mobile tickets ready.

At what age are children required to have an admission ticket?

Children age two (24 months) and older require a ticket; those younger than two years of age are admitted for free and do not require a ticket. Guests of all ages may attend the Overtime Experience

How many tickets can I purchase?

There are no limits to the number of tickets you may purchase. Groups exceeding 12 may be split into multiple tours.

Do I need to purchase an Overtime Experience ticket for my child?

Yes, all guests age two and older require an Overtime Experience ticket for admission into the experience.

Is photography/videography allowed on the tour?

Photography is permitted on the tour except in areas explicitly forbidden by your Tour Host. Photography is not permitted for any commercial use. Videography and other recordings are not permitted at any time while on tour.

Are there any purse or bag restrictions?

Purses, small bags, and backpacks are allowed on the tour but may be subject to x-ray and/or search prior to admission.  Oversized bags or luggage will not be permitted on the tour.

Can I bring my luggage?

No, luggage is not permitted anywhere at Allegiant Stadium. Please leave all luggage in your vehicle or at your hotel. Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders, and its affiliates are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.

How long is a tour?

Tours last approximately 75 minutes. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Do you offer self-guided tours?

No. To ensure an optimum experience, all tours are expertly guided.

Are strollers permitted?

Strollers/wagons are not permitted on the tour. Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders, and its affiliates are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged strollers or items.

How does Allegiant Stadium address unruly or disruptive guests?

The tour at Allegiant Stadium is a shared experience. Any and all guests participating in unruly, disruptive, or disrespectful behavior to other guests or Allegiant Stadium Team Members will be asked to leave without a refund.

Are pets/animals allowed on the tour?

Pets and other animals are not allowed on the tour, except for service animals to aid guests with disabilities.

May I bring my own food and beverage on the tour?

All outside food and beverage are prohibited from entering Allegiant Stadium.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Allegiant Stadium is a cashless venue. Allegiant Stadium accepts all major credit cards, and cash-to-card kiosks are placed around the stadium for those who only bring cash to Allegiant Stadium. Personal or traveler's checks are not accepted.

Do you offer tours in different languages?

Allegiant Stadium tours are currently only available in English.

Are the tours ADA accessible?

Yes, tours are accessible for patrons with disabilities. If you have a disability requiring any type of accommodation, we ask that you email us at least 72 hours advance at [email protected] to ensure the requested assistance can be provided. Wheelchairs are available, free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that Allegiant Stadium staff cannot provide special wheelchair assistance on-site. Guests with disabilities who are unable to independently operate their wheelchair should be accompanied by someone able to assist them during the tour. Will there be loud noises and flashing lights?

Yes. Allegiant Stadium tour guests will be subject to loud noises, dark areas and flashing lights.

What if I arrive after my scheduled tour time?

Allegiant Stadium tours begin promptly as scheduled. We ask that you and your party arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled reservation to allow time for parking, health screening, security, and check-in. Please be prepared to present your mobile tour ticket(s) upon check-in. To ensure the quality of the experience for all guests, late arrivals will not be admitted and will not be rescheduled or receive a refund.

Can I re-schedule or cancel my tour?

All sales are final.

Are there any prohibited items on the tour?

The following items are not permitted on Allegiant Stadium tours: 

• Aerosol cans

Where is tour guest ADA parking?

Tour guests are encouraged to park for free in LOT C at the North end of Allegiant Stadium at the corner of Allegiant Stadium Way and Al Davis Way.  Accessible and handicap parking is available in LOT C as depicted.  If any guest needs to be dropped off at the entrance, they may do so from Al Davis Way outside of the Allegiant Stadium Tour Check-In.   Please CLICK HERE for a depiction of these parking areas.

Are service animals allowed on the tour?

Yes, service animals are permitted to aid guests with disabilities.

Are there wheelchairs available for use at Allegiant Stadium?

Wheelchairs are available, free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that Allegiant Stadium staff cannot provide special wheelchair assistance on-site. Guests with disabilities who are unable to independently operate their wheelchair should be accompanied by someone able to assist them during the tour.  If you know of your wheelchair need in advance, we ask that you email us at least 72 hours advance at [email protected] in order to reserve use of a wheelchair.

As a reminder, tours are approximately 75 minutes in length and include over one (1) mile of walking.  If you or anyone in your party is using assistance devices such as crutches, canes, walkers or scooters, please consider whether a wheelchair would be preferred while on the tour.  Please be aware that Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders, and its affiliates are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items left behind while on a tour.

Ultimate guide to Rolling Stones 2024 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale: Tickets, parking

The Rolling Stones will be getting their ya-ya’s out again at State Farm Stadium in Glendale when the Hackney Diamonds Tour hits metro Phoenix on Tuesday, May 7, a day the city has proclaimed shall temporarily be known as Ruby Tuesday .

This is the Stones’ third time at State Farm Stadium, where they last played in 2019 on their final tour with Charlie Watts, who left this world on Aug. 24, 2021.

The Hackney Diamond Tour is in support of their first album of original material in nearly 20 years, which topped the Billboard album charts in late October while leading many critics to proclaim it their best work since “Tattoo You” in 1981 (and whether you agree with that or not, it’s certainly a strong contender for the title).

Glendale is the third stop on the Rolling Stones 2024 tour. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

What time does the Rolling Stones concert start?

Here's the timetable:

• Parking lots open at 4 p.m.
• Plaza opens at 5 p.m.
• Doors open at 6 p.m.
• Concert starts at 8 p.m.

When does State Farm Stadium open for concerts?

Doors open at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to show up as early as possible to avoid potential delays at the gates as you get closer to show time. The concert starts at 8 p.m. 

Motorists should expect congestion, especially during rush hour. Allow ample drive time and arrive no later than 6 p.m. to minimize the potential for delays.

Where is State Farm Stadium?

State Farm Stadium is off Loop 101 between Cardinals Way/Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue in the Glendale Sports and Entertainment District. 

The street address is 1 Cardinals Way, and typing "State Farm Stadium" into your phone will yield the same result, which may not be as helpful as you think.

In fact, fans are encouraged to avoid their favorite apps when approaching the stadium, as they do not take into account special road closures, traffic patterns and access routes allocated to specific carparks. Using these apps could result in a longer commute.

The stadium website encourages ticketholders to use the directions on the parking pass purchased at SeatGeek.com , as this accounts for road closures and event-specific diversions.

How to get to State Farm Stadium for the Rolling Stones

The State Farm Stadium website offers these directions:

From the south:  Take Loop 101 north, exit at Bethany Home Road/Cardinals Way and turn right off the exit. State Farm Stadium is on the left.

From the north:  Take Loop 101 south, exit at Glendale Avenue and turn right onto Glendale Avenue. Make the first left onto 99th Avenue and left onto Maryland Avenue and continue over the bridge. State Farm Stadium is on the right.

From the East Valley using Interstate 10:  Follow I-10 west to Loop 101 north. Exit at Bethany Home Road/Cardinals Way and turn right off the exit. State Farm Stadium is on the left.

From the East Valley using surface streets:  Take Glendale Avenue west to 91st Avenue. Turn left onto 91st Avenue. State Farm Stadium is on the right.

From the West Valley using I-10:  Follow I-10 east to Loop 101 north. Exit at Bethany Home Road/Cardinals Way and turn right off the exit. State Farm Stadium is on the left.

From the West Valley using surface streets:  Take Glendale Avenue east to 95th Avenue. Turn right on 95th Avenue and follow it south. State Farm Stadium is on the left.

Yes. One-piece foam seat cushions no larger than 18 inches without pockets, zippers or concealable areas are permitted.

Additional clothing, blankets, etc., are permitted if carried loosely or in an approved clear bag. Blankets should be carried over the shoulder to be screened more quickly.

State Farm Stadium security

Metal detector screening and a search of all bags and other items will take place at stadium gates. There are no provisions to store or safeguard prohibited bags. Guests will be asked to return prohibited items to their cars. 

State Farm Stadium water bottle policy

You can bring in one factory-sealed, non-frozen 500ml (16.9 ounce) bottle of plain water. Sports drinks and flavored water are not permitted.

Glass bottles, cans and vacuum bottles also are not allowed.

State Farm Stadium prohibited items

The following items are not permitted inside State Farm Stadium:

• Aerosol cans.
• Alcoholic beverages.
• Animals (except for documented service animals).
• Bags that do not meet NFL guidelines (must be clear and smaller than 12 by 12 by 6 inches).
• Banners or signs larger than 3 feet by 2 feet.
• Beverages other than one factory-sealed, non-frozen 500ml (16.9 ounce) bottle of plain water. Sports drinks and flavored water are not permitted.
• Beverage containers — glass bottles, cans and vacuum bottles.
• Cameras with professional lenses, tripods/monopods and iPads.
• Chewing tobacco.
• E-cigarettes/vaporizer pens.
• Clothing deemed obscene or indecent in a public setting.
• Coolers of any kind.
• Food (unless used for children younger than 2).
• Footballs and beach balls (inflated or deflated).
• Illegal drugs.
• Laptop computers.
• Laser pointers.
• Noisemakers of any kind (whistles, horns, bells, etc.).
• Poles or sticks of any kind, including selfie sticks and brooms.
• Seat cushions except those that are one piece and have no zippers, pockets or concealable areas.
• Golf carts, skateboards, rollerblades or hoverboards.
• Umbrellas larger than 12 inches in length.
• Unmanned aircraft systems (drones, etc.).
• Video cameras (single purpose).
• Weapons of any kind including, but not limited to, firearms and knives.
• Any item deemed inappropriate or hazardous by stadium security.

State Farm Stadium bag policy for concerts

The NFL clear bag policy is enforced for all events at State Farm Stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring no bags, but the following will be permitted:  

• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 by 12 by 6 inches. This includes clear backpacks, fanny packs and cinch bags.
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc or similar).
• Small clutch bags, with a maximum size of 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one clear bag.
• Exceptions for medically necessary items will be made after inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Is State Farm Stadium a cashless venue?

Yes. Cash is not accepted at State Farm Stadium.

Time is still on Mick Jagger's side as the Rolling Stones thrash State Farm Stadium

Could there be a human being better suited to performing “Time Is on My Side” in 2024 than Mick Jagger at 80?

To be clear, the Rolling Stones did not include that gospel-flavored classic in the set they played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Tuesday, May 7.

But watching Jagger do what Jagger does for nearly two hours in metro Phoenix so soon after seeing those videos of him leading the Stones through “Time Is on My Side” just five days earlier as a duet with the amazing Irma Thomas, who also sounded great at age 83, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?

You couldn’t help but marvel at the age-defying essence of what Jagger brings to a performance .

It went beyond the sheer perpetual motion of it all. Yes, he rarely stopped moving. And there's a world of singers less than half his age who couldn't hope to match the energy he brought to State Farm Stadium.

But there’s an undeniable agility to what he does, an athleticism and a grace that invites you to imagine Mikhail Baryshnikov raised by a family of overcaffeinated roosters.

That side-to-side motion he does with his feet? The graceful swiveling of those hips that have been swiveling since the very early ‘60s? The youthful exuberance with which he glides and struts and sometimes even runs across a massive stage?

There was even a magical moment in the encore as the Stones were bringing “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” to a fevered pitch that he dropped to his knees as though he might channeling a young James Brown — at 80.

He got so into it on "Satisfaction," Keith Richards couldn't stop grinning.

The man was in total command of the stage from the time his bandmates found their footing after staggering into a looser-limbed-than-usual “Start Me Up” to the glorious pileup of iconic hits that brought their set to a breathless climax through the encore-closing “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

The Rolling Stones thrive on rawness and reckless abandon

By the second song, “It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (But I Like It),” the Rolling Stones were firing on all cylinders.

It wasn’t always pretty. And it damn sure wasn’t perfect. But the Rolling Stones have done as much as anyone to help define a rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic that thrives on the rawness and reckless abandon at the heart of what they do.

This is especially true of the guitars.

Founding member Richards and kindred spirit Ronnie Wood, who started playing with the Stones while still a member of the Faces in 1975, are essentially flip sides of the same Chuck Berry 45. They spent the night dialing up some of the raunchiest guitar sounds you could ever hope to hear, the volume just too loud enough.

Their guitar work was scrappy and soulful and ragged and real and all those other underrated qualities that make for an exciting night of rock 'n' roll, the kind of night the Rolling Stones have always been so brilliant at delivering.

And it was to great to see them having such a good time, Richards grinning ear to ear in his red knit cap and Wood engaging in the sort of loopy onstage antics that made him such a perfect onstage foil for Richards when he joined the fold back in the '70s.

This was Rolling Stones’ first time in metro Phoenix since the loss of founding member Charlie Watts, who died in 2021 after encouraging his bandmates to bring in Steve Jordan on drums to finish the No Filter Tour without him when he got too sick to carry on.

Jordan has been touring with them ever since and it’s easy to see why Watts thought he was the right man for the job.

He and Darryl Jones, their touring bassist since Bill Wyman left the group in 1993, are a commanding rhythm section, a point made abundantly clear on a hard-grooving version of “Miss You” that featured a jaw-dropping solo from Jones.

Rounding out their touring band are keyboard player Chuck Leavell; Bernard Fowler on backing vocals and percussion; Matt Clifford on keyboard and the French horn on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”; saxophonists Karl Denson and Tim Reis; and backing vocalist Chanel Haynes, who joined the fold in 2022 and stepped into the spotlight with her awe-inspiring vocal turn on “Gimme Shelter.”

They’re all extremely talented musicians more than capable of following the Stones through a variety of musical aesthetics, from the classic boogie-woogie groove of “Tumbling Dice” to the disco moves of “Miss You,” the Latin percussion of “Sympathy for the Devil,” the rock ‘n’ roll swagger of “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and the soulful splendor of “Gimme Shelter” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

'Hackney Diamonds' is Rolling Stones' 1st new album in nearly 20 years

The Stones are touring in support of “Hackney Diamonds,” their first album of original material in nearly 20 years. A lot of critics have called it their best release since “Tattoo You” in 1981 or even “Some Girls” three years earlier. And it’s easy to hear why those critics would say that.

It’s kind of amazing that a group that’s been around for more than 60 years could still be operating on that level, much less sound so vital.

They only played three songs from “Hackney Diamonds,” but all three more than held their own against the staples fans had come to hear, from the slashing guitar riffs and snarling lead vocals of “Angry” to the disco-flavored “Mess It Up” and the smoldering gospel of “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” a ballad they boldly held back to open the encore that featured another soulful show of force from Haynes.

“Sweet Sounds of Heaven” also boasted one of Jagger’s strongest vocals of the night. And there were many strong contenders for that title, from the soulful conviction with which he delivered “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” to the excitement he brought to the end of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

He may have flubbed the occasional lyric, and there were some notes he didn’t try to hit. But overall, Jagger’s vocal performance was as age-defying as his movements.

Other highlights ranged from “She’s So Cold,” a song that hadn’t made a setlist since 2019, to Keith Richards taking a turn in the vocal spotlight on “Little T&A” (a song he introduced as “She’s My Little Rock & Roll” after telling the crowd, “It’s good to be here; it’s good to be anywhere”) and “Monkey Man,” which won the online fan vote.

World's greatest rock 'n' roll band? That seems right

It was all great, though. How many bands could even hope to bring a set to a climax by stringing together a series of songs as iconic as “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Miss You,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Paint It, Black” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”?

If you want to be known as the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band, that’s one way to do it.

It was after a spirited version of "Tumbling Dice" that Jagger took a moment to address how pleased he was with the welcome the Stones had received from the city of Glendale.

The city renamed a portion of 95th Avenue near the stadium Satisfaction Way and the mayor declared May 7 Ruby Tuesday.

"We’re very honored that you chose to name today Ruby Tuesday, though," he said.

"That is so nice. It’s never happened to us before. Ruby Tuesday. Unfortunately, we’re not gonna be able to play it tonight because we’ve forgotten that one."

As they were nearing the end of their set, after “Honky Tonk Women,” Jagger did some reminiscing.

“My goodness, this is our 11th show in Arizona,” he said. “Isn’t that something? I want to thank you so much for coming back to see us. You know, my favorite show in Arizona was in 1997 when we accidentally set fire to the Sun Devil Stadium.”

Then, after “Miss You,” he told the crowd, “We’re gonna go out to Valley Bar after, OK? So you can join us there.”

Having gone to Valley Bar and hung around until it closed at 2 a.m., I can assure you, he was joking.

By the time they signed off with a raucous thrill ride through an epic “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” Tuesday night at State Farm Stadium was everything a Stones fan could’ve hoped for, the quintessential rock ‘n’ roll survivors still going strong after 62 years, invigorated by their new music.

Carin Leon and Electric Mud opened for the Rolling Stones

Forty-five minutes before the show was scheduled to begin, a band from San Diego called Electric Mud (the title of a Muddy Waters album) took the stage and delivered a well-received set that often felt like they were channeling the Rolling Stones of an early '70s vintage, especially those Jagger-esque lead vocals.

Two members of Electric Mud — Marc and Matty Hansen — have an aunt named Patti Hansen who's been married to Keith Richards since 1983. That may be how they got the gig, but they turned out to be a perfect fit.

Electric Mud was followed by regional Mexican music star Carin Leon , whose latest effort, “Colmillo de Leche,"  picked up Best Norteño Album at last year's Latin Grammys.

He wasn't nearly as perfect a fit, but went over surprisingly well on the strength of a powerful performance, fronting a 16-piece band complete with accordion and tuba and wearing black leather pants and matching vest over a black T-shirt, a black cowboy hat completing his look. Highlights of Leon's set included "It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú)" and Johnny Cash's "Man in Black."
