Hello! I am Devlin DuVall, proud owner of Travel Home, LLC . I created Travel Home after years of searching for a way to co mbine my passion for helping others, my skills, and my experience. Initially, I struggled to find the right path where I could combine my love of design and my experience in rentals and real estate in a way that would make a meaningful impact. Then, one day, it all clicked! During a conversation, someone shared the challenges their daughter, a traveling nurse, faced finding affordable and decent rentals during her assignments. That moment sparked my “Aha!” realization: I could use my design talent, and my property management experience to help a very deserving group of individuals – traveling medical professionals.

It is our sincere hope that Travel Home genuinely benefits our dedicated traveling medical professionals, who contribute so much to their communities. I bit about me: I am a Texas gal that loves to travel and I have lived on three continents. I have a Bachelor’s degree in French and a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation of Architecture. Footage shows the moment anti-tourism protesters in Majorca descended on holidaymakers as they dined out – booing and chanting “tourists go home”.

The 10,000-strong hoard of demonstrators took to the streets of the popular Spanish Balearic Island to vent their anger over tourist saturation as they chanted “Let’s save Majorca. Foreigners out”.

The march through Palma’s capital reached a climax when protesters appeared to boo and jeer alongside tourists enjoying their evening meal in Weyler Square.

They were heard shouting “tourists go home” as they passed through on the 20-minute route from the park where the protest began to the iconic street Paseo del Borne.

The banners campaigners carried included one with the offensive message: “Salvem Mallorca, guiris arruix” which in Catalan Spanish means “Let’s save Majorca, foreigners out”.

It played on the colloquial Spanish expression Guiri which is used to portray northern European tourists like the British holidaymakers partying in Magaluf, usually in a mildly offensive way.

A Brit caught in the chaos described how she fled before things “turned nasty” as protesters shouted at and mocked UK diners as they passed.

Polly Taylor told the Mail: “It was like a storm was coming...then the noise from the protesters just got louder and louder and we were swamped with them”.

She said and her friends were caught in a “very intimidating” sea of people and revealed the experience had put her off visiting the island again.

The Palma protest was organised by Banc del Temps, a group which hails from the inland Majorcan town of Sencelles and has claimed 25,000 people joined in the demo although government officials have put the figure at around 10,000.

But the organisers were later forced to apologise for the outburst directed at holidaymakers – but hit back, saying “this is just the start of things”.

Spokesman Javier Barbero said of the targeting of some visitors: “We didn’t want to have a go at tourists and it shouldn’t have happened.

“If measures aren’t taken we will continue taking to the streets until we see action.”

Another campaign group that took part in Saturday’s demo, held under the slogan “Majorca is not up for sale”, described the organisers afterwards as “heroes”.

The manifesto Banc del Temps made public when protesters had finished marching through Palma included the demand only people who had been living in the Balearic Islands for five years could buy property as well as a moratorium on holiday rentals.

One of its speakers said: “This island should be a place where our children can grow up with safety and dignity, with controlled tourism that doesn’t condition our lives.”

The protest, the largest of its kind since last month’s Canary Islands’ demos against mass tourism, was the second in 24 hours in the Balearic Islands.

On Friday night around 1,000 protesters took part in a demo in Ibiza to vent their anger over the effects of mass tourism.

Campaigners held up banners saying “We don’t want an island of cement” and “Tourism, yes but not like this” as they massed outside Ibiza Council’s HQ.

The organisers of the demo, a group called Prou Eivissa, met with Ibiza’s president Vicent Mari before taking to the streets.

British tourists across the other side of the island in San Antonio however dismissed a street drinking ban which could see them hit with fines of up to £1,300 ($A2500) if caught.

The protesters’ demands included a limit on the number of vehicles that can enter the island in summer and a ban on using taxpayers’ cash to promote Ibiza as a tourist destination.

It’s feared that protesters could flood airports in a bid to be taken more seriously – a move that would spark travel chaos for Brits.

Anti-tourist graffiti has appeared across Spain, Tenerife and Greece in recent months with protests in the Canary Islands, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens and Venice.

In the Menora Brit hotspot of Binibeca, locals have resorted to restricting tourist access to streets after selfie-loving tourists caused havoc.

Images showed chains and ropes used to book out holidaymakers using private doorways and alleyways to take snaps in the area dubbed “Spain’s Mykonos”.

Some foreign holidaymakers have shown their support for the issues raised by campaigners but others have accused them of biting the hand that feeds them.

Locals say there are too many cars on the roads, traffic congestion, overcrowded beaches, blocked access roads, ruined beauty spots and just too many holidaymakers flocking to the island which expects record figures this summer.

Meanwhile, another holiday hotspot sparked fury over its anti-tourism plans, which include hunting “illegal” visitors and a “fascist” list of foreigners.

Residents and businesses in Girona, Spain, argue they have reached their limit with “overtourism” and called for urgent measures as “it is already too late”.

Locals in the Catalan town proposed increasing the number of patrols to find illegal tourist apartments and creating a list of all foreign residents living in Girona.

SoCal drivers hit with heavier than usual traffic as busy Memorial Day travel weekend begins

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California is getting ready to see more people out on the roads and at airports for Memorial Day weekend, known to be one of the busiest travel days of the year.

According to the Automobile Club of Southern California, a record 3.5 million people are expected to travel during the holiday weekend, which is a 4.7% increase from 2023. That's a new record for travel for the holiday.

AAA predicts this will be the busiest start-of-summer weekend in nearly 20 years, with 43.8 million people expected to travel at least 50 miles from home between Thursday and Monday.

The Memorial Day travel period is defined as the five days from Thursday, May 23, to Monday, May 27.

Best times to drive

Once you're done with your trip, AAA says the the best times to drive are Sunday before 1 p.m. and on Monday after 7 p.m.

How about LAX?

The Los Angeles International Airport is anticipating an increase in daily passengers from now until the end of the month. Around 2.5 million passengers are expected to pass through LAX during the next week and a half. Nationwide, an estimated 45 million people will take holiday trips.

People are being asked to get to the airport early and pre-book your parking spot if you can.

"It was busy," said Daniel Arsenault, a traveler who spoke with Eyewitness News on Friday. "I came from Kansas City through Denver - both airports were mobbed. A lot of families, a lot of kids, a lot of people."

According to AAA, Anaheim and Los Angeles are listed are among the top five destinations this Memorial Day weekend.

Your 2024 Credit Card Checklist for Summer Travel

Checklists are a key step in travel preparation for many people. Passport — check. Phone charger — check. But have you checked to make sure you’re fully utilizing the travel perks offered by your credit card?

Whether you’re a seasoned jetsetter or a novice traveler seeing the world for the first time, benefits from the right credit card can make a trip more convenient and more comfortable. That’s good news for the 50% of Americans who plan to travel more in 2024 than 2023, according to a survey by IPX1031, a Fidelity National Financial Company.

Here’s a credit card checklist to review before you hit the road this summer.

1. Bring a card

First things first — be sure to bring a credit card! Many airlines, and even entire airports, are now cash-free. That means you’ll need a card to pay for that pre-departure drink or in-flight snack. You might even earn bonus rewards.

For example, if restaurants are a bonus category for your card, sit-down establishments within the airport will usually still earn that higher rewards rate. If your card earns a bonus on travel purchases, you'll usually earn that bonus for in-flight purchases.

2. Register for TSA PreCheck, Global Entry or Clear

Airports are more crowded than ever, with air passenger growth up 6% and foreign travel up 24% year over year, according to a study conducted by the U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics.

To ease the burden of long lines, check if your card offers a credit that covers the cost of TSA PreCheck , Global Entry or Clear . These programs allow you to speed through the line at security or customs, but since they all require a background check and an in-person interview, you'll need to register well before your trip. Even if you haven’t been verified for this trip, register today to prepare for your next trip.

3. Register for lounge access

Airport lounges offer a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal, with most offering free food and drinks. If your card offers access to Priority Pass lounges, you’ll need to register for that benefit before you hit the road.

Don’t forget your physical membership card, or even easier, download the Priority Pass app and use your phone to access the lounge.

4. Notify your issuer of your travel plans

Few things can create issues like having your card unexpectedly stop working when you’re away from home, especially internationally. With rates of credit card fraud increasing, it’s possible your card could stop working if you’re spending outside of your normal patterns or locations. To preempt this, notify your issuer before you travel. Often you can do this online or through the app, but just in case, be sure to travel with at least two cards .

5. Avoid paying foreign transaction fees

If you’re traveling abroad, make sure you have a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees . If your card does levy those fees, try to get a different card before you leave the country.

6. Pay with your most rewarding card

Be sure to identify opportunities to leverage your trip and earn outsized rewards. For example, if you know you’ll be staying at a Hilton brand hotel, you might consider applying for one of the Hilton credit cards offered by American Express and earn up to 14 Hilton points per dollar you spend at the hotel. Those points can stack up fast and easily defray costs for your future travel.

But you'll need to bring the physical card with you. Many hotels aren't able to accept digital wallet payments, so if you can't swipe your card, you'll miss out on those heightened rewards.

7. Check your card’s money-saving offers

Many issuers have programs, such as AmEx Offers, Chase Offers and BankAmeriDeals from Bank of America, that let you add rotating promotional offers to your card and earn additional points or cash back for making purchases at specific merchants. Be sure to review these offers for any merchants where you might spend during your travels. Just be aware of the fine print — often these offers exclude, or only include, international merchants.

Dozens of bullets ‘flying’ scare residents of ‘very nice’ Miami Gardens neighborhood

Detectives investigate memorial day weekend shooting.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Carolina Hunter said she worried about the safety of her grandchildren in Miami Gardens. Detectives were investigating a Memorial Day weekend shooting steps away from her home.

Hunter said her neighborhood is “very nice and pleasant,” but a shooting on Saturday evening in the area of Northwest 202 Terrace and 33 Avenue filled it with fear.

“It was a little scary,” Hunter said. “We are concerned.”

Residents said dozens of bullets were “flying.” There were holes all over the white walls and glass of the house that was the target. There were holes in a parked black Honda with a disabled parking permit.

No one was injured. Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
