Natuur in Noord-Spanje
Cultuur snuiven in Midden-Spanje
In Spanje raakt u nooit uitgekeken!

How To Explore Spain In Style
Photo credit: Jose Javier Martin Espartosa PALACIO REAL MADRID 12-12-2017 7716 via photopin (license)
Travelling in style involves a collection of many elements and style has a different definition for everyone, however, it is largely agreed that travelling in style involves travelling comfortably and being able to enjoy the finer things in life as you travel, like good food and wine, staying in luxury and having your needs met in an attentive manner and ensuring that you look and feel well presented at every opportunity.
So, before travelling, make sure that you’ve planned where you’re going to stay and what standard of service you desire and expect from your hotel. Also decide where you wish to eat and discover the finest eateries in your chosen Spanish cities and organise what you’re going to wear so that you feel stylish and cool, in both senses of the word, as Spain does enjoy a temperate climate since being a Mediterranean country.
Plan Your Routes
Since you’re exploring Spain, you’re going to want to see as much of this beautiful county as possible, so plan your routes and plan how you’re going to travel around early. If you’re travelling by train, then ensure you book your tickets for the journey ahead of time so that you’re guaranteed a seat, and if you wish to ensure you’re not feeling warm and stifled on a packed and busy train, then consider paying the extra money for the comfort of travelling first class.
This way you can ensure to travel in style, and you’ll benefit from having more space in which to lay down your belongings, and depending on who you travel with, you’ll be able to enjoy a tasty lunch if travelling during the midday hours.
The last thing you need as you step off the plane is having to sort getting from the airport to the city centre, so if you’re landing first in Madrid, think about using a company that offers private transfers in Madrid so that you can get from A to B easily and smoothly.
Decide Where You’re Going
Decide where you want to go in Spain and for what reasons There is so much to see over the course of the country, so decide where you’re going in order to plan which activities you wish to partake in. Consider travelling to Andalusia and Portugal if the time of your travelling window allows, and enjoy the scent of the blooms of orange blossom and the many opportunities for authentic Spanish flamenco dancing.
Keeping It Sophisticated
There’s a significant chance that wherever you’re going in Spain, you’re going to be needing cool clothing , plenty of sun cream and high SPF products to protect your skin from sun damage and premature signs of ageing. When packing your bags in preparation of going to Spain, make sure you pack accordingly and select your favourite pieces of tailoring alongside some looser fittings items so that you can avoid becoming overheated and, there’s no other way of saying it frankly, sweaty. Before you go to Spain, think about consulting the current fashion trends and think about creating a few of the in style looks of the season.
I know what it's like to go from being a crazy backpacker without a care in the world, via being a vaguely sensible parent to being an adventurer once more. In other words, evolving into a Grown-up Traveller.
Like everyone else, I love to travel, have visited a lot of countries and all that but my big thing is Africa.
I also own and run The Grown-up Travel Company as a travel designer creating personalised African itineraries for experienced adventurers

Street Style Spanish Fashion : Here’s What to Wear in Spain for Tourists
Traveling to Spain and don’t want to sound the tourist alarm? Everyday street fashion in Spain obviously changes with the seasons, but there are some staples and basic fashion etiquette that each of the largest tourist destinations follows. Here’s a quick look at fashion in Spain today by popular destinations like Madrid, Barcelona, Seville / Granada, and the Basque Country, followed by a list of what not to wear in Spain as a tourist. Look like a local by following our advice.
What to Wear in Spain: Madrid
Wondering what to wear in Madrid, Spain’s bustling capital?
Madrid is well-known for its expansive parks and gorgeous artwork. The tourist attraction that garners the most amount of foot traffic is the Plaza Mayor, with over 6 million tourists every year, just in Madrid.
The style in Madrid varies from bohemian chic (usually the 20-30 year-olds) to fancy or “ pijo/a ” (preppy in Spanish).
Fashion for Women in Madrid
For women, polka dots, colorful sundresses dresses, and espadrilles are hot in the summer, with jean skirts making a comeback from the 90s. Black coats, boots, and jeans are dominant in the winter looks.
Fashion for Men in Madrid
For men, black, white and grey t-shirts and button-downs are staples with jeans or black pants and a nice watch. For both men and women, white kicks and Vans (or other comparable sliders) are very popular, but you’ll never see flip flops in Madrid.
Tourist Fashion Tip #1:
One thing is for certain when it comes to the dress code in Madrid: Fashion is ruled by the season. Even if it’s hot in winter, you won’t see people in shorts. That’s démodé.
What to Wear in Spain: Barcelona
Wondering what to pack for Barcelona?
This illustrious city is the capital of Catalonia, a proud pro-independence region with a rich history, gorgeous architecture, and amazing wine.
Barcelona is very well established in Spain as the fashion city . This reputation was edified in the very popular Spanish movie ( Ocho Apellidos Catalanes , 8 Catalan Last Names), in which they joke about how well-dressed and preppy the people are in the streets of Barcelona.
There is not a particularly wide gamut of styles – the style ranges from slick-looking button-downs, long sleeves, pants, and chic accessories.
Fashion for Women in Barcelona
For women, pants, button-downs, jackets, and sweaters are definitely the norm. Colors don’t stray all that far from white, beige, light blue and black. Women also load up on accessories: classy, dainty necklaces, small handbags, hats, and sunglasses are very common.
Fashion for Men in Barcelona
Men often wear T-shirts, button-downs, and black pants. A casual look for men from Catalonia would be slim jean shorts (or jorts).
Again, for both men and women, white sneakers and Converse are still in.
Tourist Fashion Tip #2:
Even though you might feel like you are at the beach, wearing shorts and flip flops with socks will definitely send signals that you are a tourist in town.
What to Wear in Spain: Seville and Granada
In Seville and Granada, Andalusia’s most visited cities, the charming Moorish influence draws millions of tourists every year to ogle the impressive architecture and colorful tiles. It’s also the home of flamenco, the most passionate and seductive dance in the world (according to Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory).
Spain is generally conservative when it comes to clothing and culture (politics aside), thus even in hotter weather, the dress code tends to lean towards billowy pants, longer skirts, and nothing too flashy.
Fashion for Women in Seville / Granada
In the South of Spain, the climate is HOT. Women often wear cotton or linen clothing that is flowy and colorful. Red and orange hues dominate the color palette, and white tops or skirts help keep cool in the raging heat of the summer.
Spanish Fashion for Men in Seville / Granada
Men often wear shorts in the summer (not basketball shorts, but European style shorts, which are shorter and slimmer than American shorts) with simple cotton T-shirts. The more fashionable men will rock short-sleeve button-ups with a colorful pattern.
Tourist Fashion Tip #3:
Since linen is impossible to not wrinkle while traveling, bring long, cotton skirts. They are even more comfortable when walking around than shorts and will still keep you relatively cool.
For men, if you can’t find fashionable shorts at home, you can buy a cheap pair of black shorts (European style) that double as swimwear in Primark or H&M when you get to Europe.
What to Wear in Spain: Basque Country
Because of the tumultuous Spanish history, there are many regions in Spain that are pro-independence, meaning they want to secede from the nation, like Catalonia. The Basque country ( Euskadi ) is one of them.
Euskera (the language spoken in the region and still taught in some schools) is one of the few European languages that does not have Indo-European roots. Common Euskera names differ from Maria and Ana to Arantxa, Iñaki, and Nekane (try saying that three times fast)
Walking through the streets of Navarra, tourists see graffiti everywhere saying “This is Basque Country – Not Spain”. The culture definitely has its own style and fashion.
Fashion for Men & Women in the Basque Country
It’s very common to spot the old punk style on the streets. Unlike the economic powerhouses of Barcelona or Madrid, you’ll spot the townspeople sitting on the ground, throwing back some beers with their purple hair and short, edgy bangs. Classic fashion items include a plaid scarf, short sleeves, and earrings.
Here are some classic scenes from the Spanish cult classic Ocho Apellidos Bascos (8 Basque Last Names), based in the Basque country.
Fashion for Women in the Basque Country
There are, of course, exceptions to this trend. Some Basque fashion influencers rival those of the big cities but still remain a bit more punk and retro.
Tourist Travel Tip #4:
For a trip to the Basque country, feel free to pack more casual clothes and T-shirts. One pair of Converse or Vans should be good for the whole trip. You might have to dye your hair and get a cool name like Irati to fit in though!
What Not to Wear in Spain
Similar to many other European countries, Spaniards dress more conservatively. Think pants, long skirts, collared shirts. These rules apply to both men and women.
If you don’t want to be seen as a tourist, avoid the following items:
- Extremely short mini skirts/shorts
- Shirts that show excessive skin (chest or back)
- Sport tennis shoes that are meant for the gym
- Flashy colors or patterns
- Excessive makeup
- Basketball shorts
- Baseball caps
- Cargo shorts

Hey – I’m working with a company that is looking for sites that have content relating to clothing and I came across yours.
Any chance you’d be open to hearing about a way you could link to a merchant and make money in the case someone clicks on the link and purchases something?
Just wanted to see if it’s something you’d be interested in hearing about! If not, I hope you have a great day!
Hey just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
Hey dear, Thanks a lot for sharing such a great post on fashion in Spain . I have got so many useful pieces of information, tips, and ideas in your post. I very agree with you “For women, polka dots, colorful sundresses dresses, and espadrilles are hot in the summer, with jean skirts making a comeback from the 90s. Blackcoats, boots, and jeans are dominant in the winter looks.” All the images look pretty cool. Hope this post will help me out so much.

Depending on where you go, looking like a local in Spain can have many different meanings. You might be planning your Barcelona bike adventure, winding along the warm paths and watching endless beach volleyball matches. Or maybe you’re excited to watch the sunset over San Sebastián’s bay-front, or you’re headed to Madrid to see the baroque Royal Palace. (Or even something else—there's a ton to do!)
For example, in Madrid, you'll want to explore the city by foot and witness all the beautiful architecture. Pack comfortably!
Wherever you’re headed, we’ve gathered information on how to fit in with Spain fashion, and even included some tips from two new expats who are currently finding their Spanish style in San Sebastián and Madrid. Let's get rid of that packing anxiety with our best tips on how to feel at home in Spain.

Spain fashion trends: 5 tips to help you blend in, 1. presentation matters .
In Spain, no matter where you are, locals present themselves with much care and self-expression. You could say that Spanish style is to be well put together. Fore example, athletic clothing is rarely seen outside of the gym as well as sweat pants, yoga pants or loungewear.
Tip one? Looking presentable is whatever that means to you. Presentation can be confidence, it can be wearing your favorite shirt, and it can also be getting out of your comfort zone. Traveling in Spain can be an opportunity to explore your style.
The Spanish dress code? Wear what you feel best in.
Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. You know that head up shoulders back feeling? This is an opportunity to feel this way every day- so wear what makes you feel - YOU.

2. all the sandals .
Prepare yourself, you’re about to develop a sandal obsession. Spaniards have fantastic taste in sandals. One new Spanish-style trend is platform sandals, which add a bit of height and conformability. The best part about the sandals in Spain is they’re all totally unique to each person, so bring your favorite pair or go buy some that stand out, either way you’ll fit right in to Spain fashion.
Another tip—Spaniards match their shoes with their activities. For example, flip flops are mostly seen at the beach, however, nicer lifestyle sandals are seen throughout the city.
Summer fashion in Spain: your shoe should match the occasion!
3. Show off some sneakers
Sneakers are also a staple piece when traveling in Spain, which makes exploring much more comfortable. Nicer sneakers are paired with EVERYTHING. This includes dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans you name it. Currently, platform sneakers can be frequently seen throughout the day.
Remember, presentation is valued by Spaniards, which means running shoes are seen at the gym and lifestyle sneakers are worn around the city. One thing to keep in mind is packing shoes for the nightlife !
The Spain dress code for a night involves dressing up! You’ll see heels, nice sandals, dress shoes, loafers, leather shoes or nice sneakers. Whether you’re visiting a club or bar you can’t go wrong dressing up.
It’s best to be overdressed.
4. As for your closet...
The best advice when packing for Spain, bring your top five favorite pieces of clothing- that shirt you wear on a first date, or the dress you always pick out for a party. Stay away from everything else. When you start packing clothing that you don’t wear at home, guess what… it will probably stay in your suitcase.
Imagine yourself enjoying gelato on the streets of Seville or walking through a spacious park in Alicante. Bring what you would feel confident in. If you’re worried you don’t have enough… all the more reason to find some Spain fashion that you can add to your collection!
Self-expression is valued in Spain so bring bright colors, outfits that you stand out in, and leave room in your suitcase to pick something up when you’re there.

5. accessories, accessories, accessories..
You might want to think about switching it up from a purse to a crossbody fanny pack or mini backpack, which can be seen throughout the streets of Spain. A mini backpack is big enough for your wallet, keys, and sunglasses. Just make sure you watch your back for pickpockets.
Crossbody fanny packs are also a new purse alternative. They are sold along the streets in Madrid so you can buy one there or hop online now.
If you want your outfit to stand out, it's a good choice to match some accessories on your clothes. You can make custom patches or pins with your own name or favorite designs, which will be unique and personalized. These ingenious collocations will make people feel you are that you are very tasteful and full of fashion sense!
Pack something that would make you feel beautiful if you were to jump into this picture!
Final Spain fashion trends to help you prepare!
Just remember to wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Hopefully, these Spain fashion trends can expand your wardrobe and give you the same feeling your favorite pair of jeans does. If you need other ideas, these are some of the common Spain fashion trends they see around the city during the day:
- Denim skirts
- Shorts of any kind
- Flowy pants and skirts
- Long and short sundresses
- Fun jumpsuits
As for the nightlife, Spaniards love to dress up, here are a few suggestions:
- Bring a pair of classic heels
- A nice dress or top
- A button-up shirt
- Leather shoe, dress shoe, or nice sneaker
If you’re still unsure of what to bring, leave some room in your suitcase and go find a few things that make you feel you!
The key to looking like a local is wearing what makes you feel unique.
Feel more comfortable about your upcoming trip to Spain?
Now it’s time to decide what the heck you’re going to do while traveling in Spain. Consider getting your TEFL certification , interning , volunteering , or studying abroad , and instead of trying to look like a local, you’ll be able to become one (almost!).
Remember at the end of the day, Spain is a place of individuality and boldness so wear what you love and you’ll fit right in. Oh, and don’t forget to plan your return adventure.
Espero que tengas un buen viaje!

After all, it’s great to look put together while hopping on a flight, but not at the cost of your comfort—especially on long-haul trips. Rest assured, we've curated a list of wardrobe essentials to achieve flawless travel and airport outfits, whether you are exploring a new destination for business or pleasure.
When it comes to the best travel outfits for women, accessories play a critical role in keeping you comfy and organized. All you have to do is remember a comfortable pair of shoes , compression socks to keep things moving, an eye mask that's an upgrade from the one the airline provides, and a chic shawl that doubles as a blanket. And of course, no travel outfit would be complete without a fashionable (and functional!) carry-on bag on your arm or atop your luggage . This bag should house all your essentials and still level up your airport outfit. Keep reading for some of the best travel and airport outfit ideas your next trip.
Chico's Travelers Classic No Tummy Pants
Chico's Travelers collection is made from wrinkle-resistant fabrics in comfortable silhouettes. Thanks to a pull-on waist and front darts, these No Tummy Pants are flattering and always look put together. If you're looking for a more relaxed silhouette, there's also the wide-leg Hutton pants in black.
Spanx AirEssentials Wide-Leg Pants
Sometimes nothing less than sweats will do, and here is where Spanx really excels. Oprah picked these for her 2022 Favorite Things , saying, “You might know Spanx for its shapewear, but it also does fantastic cozy clothes. When I tell you this set feels light as air, I’m not kidding. It’s my new leisure suit. The perfectly loose-and-lightweight fabric is like buttah!”
Girlfriend Collective Compressive Pocket Legging
Leggings are a perfect choice for traveling wear. And these have Oprah's seal of approval, as they were picked for Oprah's 2022 Favorite Things list. Eco-friendly and size-inclusive (the range goes through 6XL), these compression leggings are available in a plethora of hues. Plus, they feature double-sided seaming and pockets.
J. Crew Cashmere-Wool Travel Wrap
Let's be honest, you can't always count on the airline's blankets to keep you warm, and some even leave annoying fluff behind. Stay warm and stylish with your own wearable blanket by way of this travel necessity from J.Crew that comes in eight different colors.
Vuori Elevation Trouser in Midnight Heather
Vuori is celebrated for its super-cozy pieces. The best thing about these pants? They look put together while the stretch-knit fabric is as comfy as your favorite Vuori loungers. The high-rise waist and loose fit of the leg give you an effortlessly stylish silhouette.
Dr. Scholl's Time Off Platform Sneakers
Celebrated for consciously comfortable footwear, these sneakers from Dr. Scholl's are tricked out with tons of features for all-day comfort. Inside, anatomical cushioning and arch support keep you covered while a lightweight, anti-slip platform sole protects on the outside. This minimalist sneaker looks just as good with a matching suit as it does with a low-key sweat set.
Spanx Women's AirEssentials Half-Zip Sweater
Sometimes nothing less than sweats will do, and here is where Spanx really excels. Oprah picked this top for her 2023 Favorite Things , saying, “Wow. Wow. Wow. May I tell you I got this set last year? I wore it in a photo shoot for O Quarterly and never looked back...” Why not pair it with the coordinating wide-leg pants for a full sweatsuit?
Dr. Motion Compression Socks with Enhanced Cushioning (3 Pack)
Compression socks are always a good idea for traveling. We recommend these styles from Dr. Motion that offer graduated compression of 8 to 15 mmHg while providing arch support. Unlike other socks that can feel scratchy or clammy, these are soft, moisture-wicking, and subtly cushioned.
Spanx Core-Shaping Perfect Pant High-Rise Flare
The perfect pant does not exist—wait, yes it does, and here it is. This high-rise flare option is designed with premium ponte fabric and a comfortable pull-on design for maximum comfort and easy styling on your flight. Plus, it comes in size XS to 3X, so there's something for everyone.
Hoka Women's Bondi 8 Sneakers
Hoka's sneakers are cult Oprah Daily office favorites and podiatrist-approved . Not only do they look good with just about everything, but the Bondi 8 sneakers also offer a full-length EVA midsole for the highest level of cushioning and arch support.
Everlane Organic Cotton Honeycomb Cardigan
This gorgeous honeycomb cotton cardigan is part of the latest iteration of Everlane Editions: The Art of Spring Layering. Crafted from responsibly sourced and lower-impact materials, this 100 percent organic cotton knit is ideal for layering before, during, and after your flight.
JW PEI Aylin Canvas Cellphone Crossbody Bag
Making sure you have all your essentials when going through airport security can be tough. Thankfully with this convenient crossbody, you'll have your phone and cards right at hand.
Birdies Vesper Seven-Layer Cloud Comfort Loafers
Birdies' classic loafer will elevate any airport look. They're crafted with tumbled Nappa leather, a no-slip rubbber sole, and the brand's signature seven-layer footbed for ultra-cushy support. Plus, the Vesper comes in sizes 5 to 12, and a range of colors like silver leather and cappucino with raffia accents.
K. Carroll Accessories Taylor Tote
These vegan suede totes are great for hauling all your in-flight essentials, with plenty of room. There are a range of colors to choose from. "Not too big or too small, this vegan suede tote is just the right size for your on-the-go loved one in need of a stylish solution," Oprah said when highlighting the Taylor tote on her 2022 Favorite Things list.
Naadam Original 100 Percent Cashmere Sweater
Warm, soft, and chic—few things are as reliable as a chic crewneck sweater. At under $100, Naadam's perfect knit comes in core and limited-edition hues. Pro tip: Order a size or two larger than your usual for an ultra-cozy fit that's perfect for throwing around your shoulders or as a plane layering piece. And what's more, the sweater is machine-washable (yes, you read that right).
Lands' End Wrinkle-Free Button-Down Shirt
A classic button-down is a travel essential that elevates any in-transit look. Lands' End's timeless button-down has all the details you need: a lightweight, wrinkle-resistant stretch fabric and a longer length for coverage. Luckily, you can cover all your bases with plenty of solid and striped options to choose from. Plus, it comes in an extended range of sizes from XXS to 3X.
Asutra Silk Eye Mask & Pillow
Oprah chose this eye mask for her 2023 Favorite Things list. "Sleeping with a mask is life-changing—I cannot tell you how much the quality of my sleep has improved," she said. "This weighted 100 percent silk one stays down and doesn’t let even a pinch of light in.” Co-owned by superstar Venus Williams, Asustra produces eye pillows that are filled with lavender and flax. Whether you want to meditate or snooze during your flight, this adjustable mask will definitely relax you.
Frankie 4 Triple Layered-Support and Cushion Liberty Black Boots
If it's not on your radar yet, Frankie 4 is a podiatrist-designed shoe line that offers insanely comfortable footwear. These are the perfect black boots to run around the airport and to wear on your trip as your professional or going out shoes.
Zeagoo Coordinated Two Piece Linen Pants Set
You might look like you're already on vacation if you show up to the airport in this neutral pants and button-down set. Available in two bright and two neutral colors, and sizes small to 2XL.
State Bags Kane Double Pocket Backpack
A decent backpack for travel is essential, and this minimalist beauty from State Bags is the epitome of a good one. The most brilliant part about this seemingly simple bag is that it has two main zippered compartments—so you can keep your clothes, a pair of shoes, and your laptop separate and protected. We love the high-quality nylon that doesn't attract dirt and is easy to clean. It's sleek, simple, and logo-free, and of course, there's a trolly sleeve for easy transit.

Travel in Style: Fashionable Outfits for Planes, Trains, or Automobiles
By Emily Holt
Photography by Justin Hollar
As the world seems to become even smaller and while we traverse it ever more frequently, the question of what to wear on said journeys—be it by plane, train, or automobile—still vexes.
On the one hand, you want pieces that are comfortable (even in first class you can get stuck on the tarmac) and practical (only the most skilled can race through Gare du Nord train station in Givenchy’s gold-band pumps without incident). And yet, looking at photos of someone like Veruschka from the 1970s, heading to baggage claim in a tailored coat, floppy hat, and judiciously heeled loafers, one can’t help but feel wistful for a time when the ideas of elegance and travel didn’t seem oceans apart.
With this—and the impending holiday vacation season—in mind, Vogue culled stylish and realistic looks to wear en route. Bon voyage.

Thanks to These 8 Pieces, You Will Always Travel in Style
Whether you're getting a bus, plane, train or boat, it can be difficult to look stylish when you're travelling, thanks to a lack of sleep, crumpled clothes and the many things you have to lug about with you. The key to travelling in style is to keep it simple and opt for classics that are primarily practical but will also make you look smart and put together at the same time. First things first, it pays to think carefully about your luggage and handbags and invest in quality pieces you can rely on every time you travel.
As for clothing, stick to simple classics that will work in different climates and are comfortable and relaxed. Accessories are where you can add a little personality, whether that's via a pair of cat-eye sunglasses like Eva Chen's or a splash of colour. Keep scrolling to shop the eight pieces that will ensure that you always travel in style.
1. A Smart Suitcase
This suitcase is smart in both meanings of the word—it look polished, but it also charges your phone so you don't have to scramble for a plug (meaning you'll never be without your e-ticket). We've all been there.
2. Smart Loafers
Classic loafers can be just as comfortable as a pair of trainers, but they'll look smarter and go with anything you wear to travel in.
3. A Hold-Everything Wallet
Rather than keeping your important papers in a plastic wallet, hold it all in one place in a travel wallet. I use this Mulberry one whenever I fly.
4. A Blazer
Throw a blazer over a T-shirt and leggings and you instantly look so much more put together and stylish—opt for a lightweight fabric, which will work when you arrive in hotter destinations, too.
5. Tote Bag
Instead of carrying lots of small plastic bags onto the plane, take a large tote on board with you—the Sézane Gaby is what I always use for travelling, and it's big enough for a change of clothes for the plane, too.
6. A Cosy Cashmere Jumper
A cosy extra layer is an in-flight essential. Two words: air con.
7. Simple T-shirt (with a spare)
I always travel in a blazer and a white T-shirt—but take a spare one in my handbag so I can feel refreshed when I land.
8. Statement Sunglasses
A statement pair of sunglasses instantly adds extra attitude to your look when you exit baggage reclaim. ■

How To Travel Chic: 10 Tips For Traveling In Style
If you are a traveling chic travel in style, the whole travel experience could be super exciting or it could be stressful too. If you’re looking for tips on how to prepare for your next trip, look no further! We’ve got some great advice to make your trip more accessible and enjoyable. In this article, we’ll cover everything from packing light items so they aren’t bulky or heavy to using the bathroom sink instead of an actual toilet (yes). So read on as we give you 10 tips for traveling chic travel in style:
Table of Contents
1. Pack Lightweight items
The most important thing to remember when packing is that you don’t need a lot of stuff. That’s not to say you shouldn’t bring anything at all, but if you’re traveling with friends or family, having too much stuff will make it harder for everyone to fit in the car.
Here are some ways to pack light:
Use a lightweight travel backpack instead of a suitcase. This saves space and weight (and makes it easier for others who aren’t carrying their own suitcases). It also looks more professional than lugging around giant duffel bags through airports!
Use a small carry-on suitcase instead of one large one. If possible, try getting whichever size is usually recommended by airlines—they’ll usually be cheaper as well, so there’s no reason not to do this! Plus, they’ll allow more room if needed later on down the road when buying souvenirs along the way (which we recommend doing!).
2. Wear Comfortable Shoes
When you’re traveling in style, it’s essential to wear comfortable shoes. It would help if you took your shoes off at the airport and put them in a bag before going through security. This way, if there’s any chance of having them checked as luggage, they will be safe from damage or theft.
If you haven’t already worn flip-flops on vacation before (or even if you have), now is the time to get started! Flip flops are an easy way to transition from casual daywear into a more formal dress when traveling abroad—and they can easily be thrown into your carry-on bag for those rainy days when raincoats aren’t enough protection against the elements.
3. Roll Clothes
Rolling your clothes is the best way to avoid creases in your clothes, and it’s also better for the environment. Instead of folding your clothes neatly, roll them instead.
Bring a rolling suitcase with you on all your trips. It will make packing much more accessible!
To roll up a shirt or pair of pants, start by folding them half lengthwise along their selvages and then roll up until they’re compact enough that they won’t wrinkle when you unroll them later (this can take some practice). Then secure each end with an elastic band or tape so that no part of your garment gets exposed when traveling through security scanners at airports!
4. Wear Accessories
Travel Accessories are the easiest way to add a pop of color, texture, and personality to your outfit. We’ve got some great ideas for you:
Earrings: Wear statement pieces in fun shapes or colors—or go with neutral pairs if you want something more subtle.
Necklace: If you’re wearing a scarf around your neck (like we always do), choose one that complements the theme of your outfit! For example, a necklace with snowflakes is perfect if it’s wintertime and cold outside. Or maybe when summertime rolls around again next year, try wearing an umbrella charm instead? It’ll match everything else in the room perfectly!
Bracelet/watch/hat/scarf combo (if applicable): You can never go wrong with adding accessories like these since they’ll help elevate any look from boring into glamorous and you will become a traveling chic travel in style as well.
5. Use the bathroom sink to do your hair and makeup.
If you have a mirror, bring it. It’s always good to have one around, and if you don’t have one in your hotel room, buy one on Amazon or at Bed Bath & Beyond (my favorite store). Remember: no matter where you are, always bring a comb! You never know when someone might want to borrow or even steal it!
Makeup brushes are also super important when traveling. I like to pack my own because they travel better than disposable ones, but if they aren’t an option, then stick with those provided by hotels and hostels.
If there isn’t any available at the time of check-in or check-out, then ask if there is any way that can be arranged, such as leaving some money behind so they can purchase them later when needed most (this usually works). Another good tip is not forgetting toothbrushes; we all know how important this little thing can be, especially during long flights when our bodies need some TLC!
6. Invest in an Excellent Carry-on Bag
A good carry-on bag is essential if you’re a traveling chic travel in style. The right bag will help keep your belongings organized and protected while ensuring they don’t get damaged during transport.
A good carry-on bag should have plenty of pockets and compartments, making it easy to separate items based on what needs to go where. It should also be lightweight so that it doesn’t add too much weight or bulk when carried around all day (which can lead to sore legs). And finally, if possible, look for a bag with multiple straps so that it’s easier for someone else (like a flight attendant) to load up when needed!
7. Keep a Kit in Your Carry-on bag
Keep a travel first aid kit in your carry-on bag to ensure you’re prepared for any situation. It’s important to have some essential medicines, pain relievers on hand, bandages, and other supplies like sunscreen and bug spray. You’ll also want to pack some toiletries like toothpaste, face wipes, hand sanitizer, and deodorant so you can freshen up at hotels or airports.
8. Carry an Empty Water Bottle
Bring an empty water bottle on the plane to keep your hydration in check. Fill it up from the bathroom sink and return it when you land. You can also use this method for other liquids, like soft drinks or juice; make sure that whatever is inside the bottle doesn’t spill once you take it off its original packaging (including those little plastic bubbles).
If you’re traveling with kids or prone to getting sick while flying, consider bringing along some toys so they have something fun to do during takeoff and landing. There are plenty of options out there: check out our article here!
9. Lay out what you need on the floor and packing it up
This is a great way to make packing easier. Instead of going into the suitcase with your clothes already in the bag, lay them out on the floor and then put them in there from there. This will allow you to see what you have so that when it’s time for one thing or another, you’ll know where everything is supposed to go. It also prevents items from rolling around during transit, which can be very annoying!
You should also consider using an app like En Route Traveler ($2) or Suitcase Tracker ($5) if these tips don’t work for you—they’re both apps designed specifically for travelers who need help organizing their belongings before they travel abroad!
10. Don’t Forget to Bring a Pen
You never know when you’ll need it for filling out forms or writing down information.
If you’re traveling with your partner, one of you can pack the suitcases and keep an eye on them while the other gets ready or waits in line. If your partner is traveling solo, it’s up to each person how they want to handle this part of their trip—either one person packs all of their belongings while the other watches over them or vice versa!
Invest in an excellent carry-on bag that will fit everything that needs to be packed into it comfortably without making any extra weight in luggage (or even worse: getting overweight).
With our traveling chic travel in style tips, you’ll be able to travel chic and enjoy every aspect of your trip in luxury style. You don’t have to worry about packing too much or not having enough stuff because we’ve got all the information for you. So take our travel advice and make sure your trip will be full of luxury style—and don’t forget that if you need anything else, there’s always Google!

Traveling for Memorial Day weekend? Here's what AAA expects traffic to be like
As families gear up for the unofficial start of summer this weekend, motorists may find the roads are busier than usual as record setting amounts of drivers are headed for their Memorial Day adventures.
Travel projections from AAA are predicting that over 43 million travelers will be celebrating the holiday weekend by traveling over 50 miles from their homes, a 4% increase over the same season during 2023. While the numbers are not as high as the record high number of travelers in 2005, the early summer travel season is showing that families are continuing to increase their travel plans.
“Long holiday weekends like Memorial Day are the perfect way to kick off the summer travel season and Americans will be traveling in record-breaking numbers this year,” said Bevi Powell, senior vice president of AAA East Central. “Whether it’s a family road trip, a luxury cruise or a train trip across New England, travelers are making choices that will ensure they have the trip of a lifetime.”
Vehicle travel predicted to be at record setting levels, experts warn of high levels of traffic
According to the company's predictions, around 38 million people will be traveling in their car over Memorial Day weekend. In the forecast's Mid-Atlantic Region, which includes New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, there is expected to be around 4.6 million motorists on the roadways. According to AAA, some of the factors driving this personal form of travel are the flexibility and convenience it gives travelers.
With the increased volume of motorists, traffic is expected to be worse throughout the weekend around cities and other popular roadways. To avoid the bulk of traffic, travelers are being advised to avoid commuters by traveling early in the day and returning home during the weekend.
"Travel times are expected to be up to 90% longer than normal," said Bob Pishue, transportation analyst at INRIX. "Travelers should stay up to date on traffic apps, 511 services and local news stations to avoid sitting in traffic longer than necessary."
According to INRIX travel data, the best times to travel on Thursday will be before 11 a.m. to avoid lunch hour traffic or after 7 p.m. to avoid the rush of people leaving work. Similar advice is being given for Friday as well, with motorists encouraged to leave before 11 a.m. or after 8 p.m. to avoid commuters. On Saturday, motorists can sleep in a bit longer, as traffic is not expected to get to a "bad" point until 1 p.m. as local commuters enter the equation.
When returning home from vacations, motorists are encouraged to leave before 1 p.m. on Sunday to avoid the worst of traffic. On Monday, travelers hoping to avoid the larger swarm of cars may want to wait until the evening to travel, with INRIX suggesting the best time to travel will be at 7 p.m. that day.
Travelers traveling by air may notice some congestion in airports throughout the weekend as well, as an estimated 3.51 million travelers are planning to travel via airplane in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Ticket prices are averaging around 1% to 2% higher than last year, but there has been a 4.8% spike in travelers utilizing air travel for their plans this year. This year's air travel numbers are similar to those seen during 2005 and are a 9% increase from what was seen pre-pandemic.
Travel trends show more luxury and "bucket list" style trips planned, solo adventures on the rise
As the summer travel season gets kicked off, some interesting trends are already developing in this year's travel plans being crafted across the nation.
AAA Travel reports that there are more "bucket list" style vacations being planned this summer, with travelers using their budgets to plan once-in-a-lifetime trips. These can include a variety of styles, either being styled as a type of family reunion trip or luxury vacations for travelers seeking high-end destinations. Many travelers are also planning their own adventures, with women showing an increased interest in these types of trips.
Some new destinations are also making waves in the travel planning industry, with trips focused on Nature becoming more common. Some of these destinations include spots across Antarctica, Africa and the South Pacific region. For those seeking city views, Japan, New England, Canada and Europe are also popular destinations, with locations offering train travel being a big interest for perspective travelers.
For travel plans this Memorial Day, some of the top domestic locations are Orlando, Seattle, New York and Las Vegas. For those planning trips to other countries, some of the top cities planned for trips include Rome, Vancouver, London, Paris and Dublin.

We Fought Over This Blanket When I Worked at Anthropologie — Now It’s on Sale
When I worked at Anthropologie , there were few days as exciting as when a new shipment of Sophie Faux Fur Blankets arrived. As soon as the ultrasoft throws hit the shelves, we would snap them up with our employee discounts and clear the racks. Today, you can get one, too, as part of a very rare sale on the blanket: Originally $98, it’s now $69. I own three — in gray, turquoise (which is no longer available), and hot pink — and can vouch for the velvety smoothness of the throw. It’s just the thing to toss on this summer when the AC’s on full blast or in the winter when you don’t want to turn on your space heater.
